Your list of ride or die couples is iconic and has so many of my faves, flower of evil bad buddy it's okay that's love lighter and princess one spring night like yes give me a show where the entire story is two individuals willing to take on the world together and for each other, it's my favorite dynamic and we don't get a lot of it especially in heterosexual couples. You have amazing taste and I would take any other suggestions you have of the same dynamic.
Hi anon! Thank you for the kind words, I do agree that I have amazing taste. :) The Ride or Die list is specifically about drama couples who we get to see be in a confirmed romantic relationship for at least half of the drama's run, with their relationship development the primary focus of the plot. I think of them as battle couples; they face challenges together and stay loyal even when they struggle. There actually are not that many of these in dramaland, which is why they are so precious to me and why I hold them close.
That said, since I wrote that post I do think we have gotten a few more entries for the list, so here are some additional recs for you:
Won and Sarang, King the Land
(S Korea, Netflix)
Tumblr media
It was getting salty about fan reaction to this show that inspired the Ride or Die list in the first place, and I am happy to report that when it finished its run, these two were still a rock solid couple. This drama is entirely about their relationship and we get lots of time with them as an established couple getting to know each other and settling into a great relationship. I love it and will stab anyone who says it's boring.
Ten and Prem, Cooking Crush
(Thailand, YouTube)
Tumblr media
Ten and Prem, my beloveds! These two meet, start liking each other, and move into dating in relatively short order, and the back half of the show has them navigating a slew of external conflicts that would normally result in a lot of breakups and false starts. But not for them! They slay every relationship demon via the power of communication.
Maki and Haruta, Ossan's Love Returns
(Japan, Gagaoolala)
Tumblr media
This one comes with a caveat that this is technically a sequel season, and the first one would very much not qualify them for this list. But you don't have to watch that first season if you don't want to, and in this return they are a couple the entire time and there is just so much time spent on them navigating their relationship and facing every day life challenges. They're an extremely charming pair.
Yuanzhou and Ruyi, A Journey to Love
(China, iQIYI)
Tumblr media
The most literal battle couple on this list, we have ourselves an assassin and spy master pair here. They meet, she decides he's the perfect baby daddy specimen, and a hilarious pursuit begins. These two get together remarkably early for a cdrama and face just so many trials and tribulations, phew. But they face them together in their color coded costumes and look amazing doing it. CW: the plot is basically about them and a band of buds leading a suicide mission so, uh, there will be many deaths, and their ending can be read as ambiguous but IMO is actually quite a happily ever after in context.
Achi and Karan, Cherry Magic Thailand
(Thailand, Viu)
Tumblr media
Karan and Achi are so into each other it's embarrassing, and we get to see them build and deepen and maintain their relationship every step of the way. This one is a little harder to watch--you will need a VPN if you're not in Thailand--but so worth the effort, trust me. And you may recognize this actor pair from the main list, because they are in fact the same beautiful faces behind Pete and Kao of Dark Blue Kiss. Congratulations to Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom for being the only actors who have achieved the honor of making the coveted Ride or Die list twice.

Sypnosis: Sukuna discovers he is Mexican and wants to visit Mexico with Uraume. Contents: A LOT OF MEXICAN REFERENCES (but I explain them in case you are not part of the club, don't worry boo.) Uraume uses They/Them pronouns. Human Sukuna. Word Count: 1583 words. Author's Note: I laughed so hard while writing this, I can do so because I am literally Mexican (iykyk) Thanks anon for the request! I rediscovered a lot of songs I usually dance to in weddings or quinceañeras. I couldn't stop bobbing my head lol. Wait... Am I turning into a señora? Welp... * = Definition on comments
Tumblr media
Uraume is a faithful servant. They follow the supreme king wherever he wants to go. So when Sukuna asked her to go on a journey of self-discovery with him, they thought they would go to a sacred temple or a paradisiacal place in Japan. What he never expected was that he would want to go to Mexico. Uraume knew that he liked to explore new lands to conquer them later on, but traveling to another continent for funsies seemed excessive, but they did not question it.
After a long journey to discover his origin, Sukuna discovered that he was born in Mexico, but did not live there for long. So as soon as he met with Uraume again, he asked them on a journey to reconnect with his roots as any whitexican* would do. That’s how the king and his faithful servant set out on their journey to new lands.
After two days of travel, Sukuna and Uraume arrived in Cotija de la Paz, Michoacán. A lively magical town* with stone roads, leafy trees and hardworking people everywhere.  The characteristic Spanish architecture, orange walls and beautiful colorful mosaics caught the attention of the newcomers. The first thing they did when they arrived was to buy new clothes to mix themselves among the locals. Sukuna bought a white guayabera* with black shorts and sandals, while Uraume opted to wear a Mexican pink* summer dress.
Once they settled in, our protagonists decided to wander aimlessly in search of something interesting to do while drinking aguas frescas* they bought in a Michoacana*. They wandered through the main park, watched the squirrels sprinting across the lawn and the people setting up the rides for the summer fair. They sat on a rusty bench to watch in fascination the gigantic church that could be seen from any part of town, several locals were going out to eat after the spiritual service.
“I'm hungry,” Sukuna complained as soon as he got bored of admiring the view.
They both wandered through the town until they came across a long line to eat at a local restaurant. That could only mean they must be serving delicious food. On the plastic sign hanging from the ceiling, a pig in a chef's hat could be seen inside a boiling pot. It was a Michoacán-style carnitas restaurant. Michoacán-style carnitas are pork fried in its own lard, but the secret is that the lard is flavored.
“We'll eat here,” Sukuna decided for both of them before going into the place. Uraume only followed him closely.
As expected of a king, Sukuna cut the line causing everyone waiting to start cursing him in Spanish. They screamed things like “Metete a la fila, cabron!” (“Get in line, you bastard!”) or “¡Quitate, pendejo!” (“Get out of the way, asshole!”) Paying no attention to the rabble, they sat down at a white plastic Coca-Cola table that had an assortment of condiments, like salsa, salt and limes, in the middle. Sukuna snapped his fingers a couple of times to get the waitress attention quickly.
“Disculpe, pero debe respetar la fila.” (“Excuse me, but you must respect the line.”) The waitress asked him very angrily. To which Sukuna only answered leaving a bag full of gold coins on the table, leaving the waitress completely disconcerted but happy.
“Le traeré una orden de carnitas de inmediato.” (“I'll bring you an order of carnitas right away.) The waitress changed her attitude with a big smile as she ran to the kitchen.
Sukuna and Uraume were impressed to see the pot full of carnitas, a tower of corn tortillas and two little jars of pulque.* Uraume could see the fat dripping from the food and their mouth watered. Sukuna didn't hesitate to make himself a taco and pour some of the reddest salsa in the assortment. Uraume warned him to try it first because they heard that Mexicans love spicy food, but the king ignored him thinking his taste buds would be fine. Big mistake. The king felt his mouth on fire at the first bite. His eyes began to water and his nose began to run, but he didn't crack. Sukuna swallowed the delicious fatty meat dipped in red sauce. He took a gulp of the pulque like a thirsty man in the middle of the desert. Uraume just ate their tacos with some green salsa with a calm mind having warned him.
Night fell faster than they thought, but the rides in the plaza came to life. The center of town was filled with families walking among the rides, colored lights illuminated the streets, vendors shouted promotions at the top of their lungs, and the music of Los Angeles Azules blared from the speakers. Sukuna and Uraume had jumped on the mechanical game that seemed to attract the most people. The famous tagada, a spinning plate on which those entering had to hold on tightly without letting go, as the sudden movements made by the tagada caused people to jump or bounce off. The game began to spin as soon as the loudspeakers began to play Arremangala Arrempujala by Los Karkik's, a song that Sukuna completely hated within the first second.
“Ay wey!” A man shouted next to Sukuna, who was slipping little by little due to the sudden movements.
“I don't understand why people like this,” Sukuna commented to Uraume in boredom as they spun out of control.
“¡Ya llegó La Monja!” (“The Nun is here!”) The boy, who was controlling the game, announced.
To the surprise of the two foreigners, a man disguised as a possessed mummy entered the game and began to dance to the rhythm of the music, balancing perfectly, while the game continued to shake and spin vigorously. Sukuna and Uraume watched in bewilderment as the mummy did his sexiest dance moves in the middle of the tagada while the crowd clapped along to the rhythm of the song.
“I think that's why they like it,” Uraume commented without taking his eyes off her.
“¡Es hora del amor!” (“It's time for love!”) The boy at the controls gave the excited announcement over the microphone.
Out of nowhere, the area where Uraume was standing began to shake violently. They held on tightly to the metal bars behind them as if their life depended on it. Their body moved violently towards Sukuna because of gravity. Slowly the boy at the controls managed to get Uraume to fall sitting on Sukuna's lap. They both blushed at the situation they had gotten themselves into for wanting to get on one of the games. Even though the boy had succeeded in his task, Uraume was still bouncing up and down on his king. They tried to pull themself back to their place, but it was practically impossible.
“I'm sorry, my king!” Uraume exclaimed between stutters with pink cheeks.
“¡Vivan los novios!” (“Long live the bride and groom!”) The boy exclaimed over the microphone, followed by a wave of applause.
Finally, the ride was over, but their blushes still hadn't gone down. They were embarrassed that mere locals could put them in that awkward situation. Sukuna was starting to get annoyed that he couldn't get out of his head how adorable Uraume looked sitting on his lap. “Puta madre...” (“Fucking hell…”) He thought annoyed.
“What do you want to eat?” Sukuna asked them in an attempt to overcome the awkwardness.
“I've seen a lot of people buying from that cart, I want to know what it is,” Uraume pointed to a white cart with a hand-painted corn on the side.
It was a cart of corn on a stick.* A lady greeted them in high spirits as they approached the giant pot of boiled corn. They both ordered a corn on a stick. They watched as the lady quickly prepared their orders. First a layer of butter, then a layer of mayonnaise, salt, and a heaping helping of grated cotija cheese. They didn't know it, but they were about to taste one of Mexico's finest culinary creations.
“¿Con chile, chile del que no pica o sin chile, corazón?” (“Spicy, not so spicy or no spice, sweetheart?”) The lady asked with a friendly smile.
“Del chile que no pica.” (“Not so spicy.”) Sukuna replied, flattered by the sweet nickname.
Sukuna and Uraume continued to wander around the fair as they entertained themselves by watching people partying in their natural habitat. Although it was past midnight, the night was still young. As they walked through the games of chance and skill, a drunk ran into Uraume, causing them to drop their corn on the floor. Uraume was saddened to see the fate of their delicious snack.
“¡Oye, cabrón!” (“Hey, you bastard!”) Sukuna yelled at the man with the curse words he had learned today, not caring that his Japanese accent stood out. He handed his corn to Uraume to grab the stranger by the shoulders roughly. “¡Mira por donde pinche caminas, pendejo de mierda!” (“Watch where you're fucking walking, asshole!”) Sukuna screamed annoyed before throwing him into a trash can. Uraume thought someone would come to the drunk man's defense, but to their surprise, no one around him batted an eye at the small fight.
“Your corn, sir.” Uraume gave his snack back once Sukuna returned while wiping his hands.
“Keep it,” Sukuna told them. Uraume blushed for the kind action of his king. “I asked for not so spicy and my mouth is in fire,” he grudgingly complained. Uraume could not help but laugh.

Thank you as always for the recommendations! I was at a con for the last several days so they piled up a little lol!
1) Looking up Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyou on MyAnimeList to get a summary actually led me to this list of titled "Real Harem Series", which is dedicated to canon harem endings! A lot of the recs I've gotten on this blog are listed there, with a few I don't recognize. Exciting!!
In Feudal Japan, the people of Edo are under siege by giant insects that ravage the land. The people desperately beg the government to do something about it. Thus the Insect Magistrate Office is established, gathering strong warriors to defend against the onset of pests. Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyou follows Jinbee Tsukishima, a young man striving to be a master swordsman like his father. To atone for a horrific incident that occurred at his fault, Jinbee seeks to take his father's place as a member of the Insect Magistrate Office. On his journey there, he meets the lovely Haru, a young woman who helps manage her family's tea house, and is forced to put his sword to good use in saving her from a grisly fate. This act of bravery that earns him a spot in the Insect Magistrate. Will this rookie exterminator be able to rid the land of the horde of insects swarming in?

2) That's interesting! I know little to nothing about Disgaea, it's something that's been in the background of my life for a long long time, but I've never even seen any gameplay for it lol. I'd love to learn more about these three, if you'd like to elaborate, anon!
3) Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu (or How NOT To Summon A Demon Lord in English) is licensed by Seven Seas in the US for the manga, and J-Novel Club in the US for the light novels.
An elite but socially-stunted gamer finds himself in another world, inhabiting the body of his character Diablo. Despite his powers, his awkwardness keeps getting in the way, so he decides to pretend to be a Demon Lord and soon finds himself with a pair of slaves: a well-endowed elf and a cat girl. Together, they struggle with everything from interpersonal relationships to diabolical beast battles.

4) Hazure Hantei kara Hajimatta Cheat Majutsushi Seikatsu (Cheat Magician Life That Started From Being Judged Useless) doesn't seem to have a ton of information about it in my normal sources! It doesn't have much of a page on MAL--I guess maybe because it's pretty recent? It also doesn't seem to be licensed in English, but there is a fan translation!
One day, all the students in the second grade of junior high school were transferred to another world. The princess of another world summoned them to make up for the lack of strength. Students who are threatened and decide to follow the princess are given a magical check to check their abilities. While everyone was sorted according to the results, the results of Kento Kokubun's judgment were missing. I was banished because it was judged to be useless. However, there is actually a terrible ability hidden in Kento … Kento, a second-year middle-aged student of life-size, aims to rescue his classmates with his fellow skeleton

APH China fic recs
Mostly gen because I rarely read ship fics lol. Some assorted Asians present as well. Most from AO3. Prone to be updated. Recs for the (East) Asian gang here. The ones that don’t have chapter numbers are oneshots. GO SUPPORT ALL THESE AUTHORS!!!
耀 by thestrangehistorian: the story of how China got his name, featuring a peddler and a king who wants to be immortal. ELITE writing, but a little bit sad. Characters: China. TW violence? like one second of it. 1951 words
科挙 by jacob (stet): Yao teaches Japan as he fails over and over in the merit tests of the Tang Dynasty. Very good characterization of their dynamic and China’s subtle arrogance. Characters: China and Japan (Japan’s POV). TW brief suicidal thoughts. 874 words
Honorable mentions: 小籠包 and 黒髪 by jacob (stet): both are more focused on Japan than China, but they are still very good. Two small snippets of Japan’s childhood under China as a rather patronizing and slightly distant guardian. Wonderful characterization as usual. In the first, Japan thinks about their relationship while making dumplings, and in the second, his hair gets brushed, twice, by two different people. Characters: China and Japan (Japan’s POV). TW: none, hints of war in the second 212 and 405 words respectively
Faster by outshinethestars (tumblr): character study about China in modern day. GOOD amazing characterization. I loved reading it; seriously it’s brilliant and the image of the fast paced modern world and the slight ambivalence China feels about it is perfect. Characters: China, America for one second TW opium/drug addiction 527 words (also on AO3)
China by de-anon (FF.net): China’s childhood, complete with a farmer, a jealous human brother, and the breakup of the Qin Dynasty. I love some of the descriptions in there, and the plot is very interesting. Characters: China TW: war reflected in a nation personification 1,711 words, 2 chapters, unfinished
Time and Time Again by vietbluefic: China steps into a dream which turns into a brief journey with a butterfly and a dead girl. Elements of Chinese mythology and literature, maybe in the magical realism genre? The author also uses a lot of Chinese words and phrases (with English translation) but imo it’s a little bit awkward (reminds me of when I talk to my parents lol). But it’s a really intriguing story and Yao’s characterization is again, phenomenal. TW: supernatural elements including demons, death/the dead 7718 words, 3 chapters, unfinished
天下 · All Under Heaven by iruhe: China drops in for a chat with the future founding emperor of the Later/Eastern Han. tbh I skimmed most of this one but the concept, and China’s speech at the end, is lovely and very interesting. Characters: China, Liu Xiu 1815 words
Above the Surface by Lady_Caryatid (I think they’re tomatobird here on tumblr): Yao recalls his earliest memories: the great flood stopped by Yu the Great. I love the headcanon that Yao’s memories are hazy during that time and that he only remembers bits and pieces that raise more questions than they answer. Characters: China 543 words
Shameless self promo time: remembrance is a small drabble/one-shot about China I wrote for his birthday last year! go read it if you haven’t :) also on ao3
One last fic (not related to aph China but it’s beautiful): Kimjang by jacob (stet). South Korea makes kimchi with his brother, and reflects on him.  Characters: North and South Korea. (it’s tagged as slash but it’s not) TW: Slightly political, references events from 2018. 3562 words

New Fanfic by Anon: New York
Anon just submitted a new fanfic! This one had me on the edge of my seat, check it out:
“Seeing the post on the freelance good guys getting isekia’d I thought I’d drop this short little fanfic idea. On night Evan is on patrol with Lukus, Alaine and Elska doing their usual rounds when they hear a odd sound? Suddenly a giant, ethereally white vehicle comes barreling towards them at high speed! They attempt to run but not before Evan gets struck, having had no time to react. They stare in horror as the white machine sends evan flying and hitting the ground with a sickeningly loud thud.
The crew is mortified at having seen Evan getting ran over, seeing his unconscious body on the ground. Just before they can help the machine responsible backs up and opens its doors, Evans lifeless body starts floating into the back of the vehicle. The crew latch’s onto him and pulls hard, trying to resist the trucks hold and save their captain and close friend. Despite their best efforts the truck pulls him in, latching it’s doors shut with elska pounding furiously trying to break them down.
The vehicle speeds off with Evan as it’s prisoner. The three try to chase it down but with no avail, elska being the only one able to keep up. With great fury the centauress runs down the evil machine, determined to tear the ethereal contraption apart with her bare hands to save Evan. But as she’s gaining ground the machine speeds up, faster and faster until a portal forms in front of it and in a blinding flash of light the machine, with Evan inside, disappears without a trace.
Evan wakes up in a hospital bed, feeling groggy and not knowing where he is or where that weird beeping sound is coming from? He’s greeted by a human nurse, happy to see him awake. He figures he’s in zareen judging by the room and the weird medical tech attached to him but has no idea how he got their? only remembering getting struck by a unknown machine and blacking out. The nurse ask his name and goes to get the doctor so they may access the new patients condition.
The doctor comes in, another human. He ask Evan his name and tells him about their finds. He’s alright though has an alarming number of scars across his body, seemingly a heart deformity that recovered and other peculiarities but is overall fine and has no obvious signs of injury. The doctor then gets to what he’s really interested in, wondering who this strange man is that was found on the side of the road by passerby’s unconscious, in medieval armor with no wallet, phone, id or anything?
The doctor interrogated Evan heavily? Wanting to know where he came from, why he was on the side of the road? how he lost his leg and obtained so many scars? why he was dressed in medieval armor? Why he has no identification on him? Etc…? Evan answers each question honesty, really wanting to know how he got their himself. As he tells them about his crew and the freelance good guys but dodges the question on his leg, not wanting to reveal his status as a lycanthrope unless absolutely necessary.
The more he talks the more worried the doctor and nurse become, exchanging looks to each other that gets Evan concerned as well. He gets a massive shock to find out he’s not in zareen but some strange place called “American”, specifically New York. The doctor writes down that the patient is delirious; believing that mermaids, centaurs and dragons exist and believes he’s in some non existent country yet claims to be from another unknown country called “Evangline”. He was gonna a rough case.
On the Gaia side, Alaine and Lukus are freaking out as Elska tells them that the evil machine that stole Evan got away by teleporting. Returning to the hollow they break the news of Evans kidnapping to everyone’s shock and horror. Issac, Jeimos and a grieving, furious Zeffer joins them on the hunt for Evan. Guessing that the magic vehicle was of zareenite origin they gear up to travel to zareen to demand answers, leaving the rest of the crew behind to continue their duties until they return.
Evan finds himself still in the hospital, still confused as why he’s being held their? The doctors believing he’s suffered a serious brain damage or mental illness due to his “delusions”. The only answer they can come up with. Trying everything they can the hospital attempt to do background checks on Evan Atlas but continue to come up with nothing, wanting to confirm his identity and contact some family or close friends. Evan picks up rather quick that’s he’s not leaving anytime soon.
He also gets the sinking suspicion that something is seriously wrong. Everyone he’s seen so far is human and everyone acts like he’s crazy when he talks about his crew, job and adventures. The truth comes when doctors alongside immigration officers interrogate him and ask him to point out where this “Zareen” and “Evangline” are on a map. He’s absolutely confused as he doesn’t recognize anywhere on the map nor the language it’s written in, realizing that whatever happened to him he’s not on Gaia.
The rescue crew makes it zareen and immediate start searching for any sighs of who took evan. After a great search, causing a scene and nearly being arrested afew times their search turns up fruitless. However on their journey they meet a deranged looking dworf who’s heard their story and claims to know some information on the mysterious truck that stole Evan. They obviously don’t trust the crazy dworf but hear him out anyway, anything being better then their fruitless attempts so far.
The dworf divulges all he knows about the magic truck that stole their friend. Telling them it’s a mysterious supernatural, dimension hopping vehicle that that runs people over to deliver them to other worlds. He calls it Truck-Kun and shows them grainy photos and numerous testimonies and stories of humans who claim to be from another world being brought to Gaia. While sounding mad, Lukus, Alaine and Elska having witnessed truck-kun in action believe him with how it matches their encounter.
Multiple testimonies from these humans claim to be from a place called “Earth”, mentioning Japan a lot but some others places like America, Russia and so on. Jeimois with Zeffers help prepare one hell of a teleportation spell to take the crew to this earth place, hoping that’s where truck-kun took Evan. Jeimois has little faith in the spell, not knowing where earth is, the power requirement, and the extremely high probability of the spell failing and killing them all but goes through with it.
Having acquired enough magic ingredients and a big enough supply of magic crystals through “questionable means” Jeimos cast the spell. The rescue team is sent flying through the void between worlds at highly velocity in the portal, them all blacking out. When they come too their all thankfully still alive if abit groggy from the trip. They wake up in a field, looking out to see a massive city scape, the likes of which trump any they’ve seen before, that city being New York City.
Evan finds more trouble in his non consensual stay in the hospital as he’s transferred to the psychiatric ward for further evaluation. It isn’t any better when he finds out the full moon is coming and terrified of what he may do divulges the fact he’s a werewolf, trying to protect the staff and any other potential victim. This alarms his doctors as they believe his delusions are worse then they feared and they push off Evan panicked fears by telling him “werewolves aren’t real”.”
TO BE CONTINUED…? Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it! I’m impressed with your understanding of the LG characters and lore! I wish you weren’t on Anon so I could credit you properly. If you guys want to read more fanfics, I’ve been posting them under the ‘fanfic’ tag.

hi there, would it be okay to ask for first kiss headcanons for the spring troupe please! and thank you!
Spring Troupe - First Kiss HCs
Sakuya
Sakuya’s performance had taken your breath away, pride swelling in your heart at how much your boyfriend’s acting had improved since you’d met him. Now, you grinned widely as he approached you, awaiting him backstage with a well-arranged bouquet of congratulatory Roses, Tulips and Daisies (Tsukioka had helped you pick them out; he’d always smile fondly whenever he saw the two of you together, your combined zeal was infectious).
You’d stepped forward and kissed him full on the lips, and when you pulled back, he’d flushed giddily and wobbled in his upturned, ‘deer-skin’ hunter’s boots. You couldn’t help but giggle at his reaction, but he’d laugh with you in joy, bumping his nose against your own in an little Eskimo kiss. You’d had to remind him not to be so affectionate he’d crush the flowers, and it was as if he’d barely noticed them in favour of you. Still, he was obviously chuffed to bits that you’d come to support him, and he hoped to himself that you’d always be there, filling his heart with warmth.
Masumi
After evening practice, Masumi usually liked to find somewhere suitably comfortable around the dorms’ lounge to doze off. You’d noticed him on the sofa, a little lopsided, with his headphones’ cables tangled around his neck. He’d been working so hard lately, what with the next Spring play coming up...
Gently, unwinding those two rubbery cords and laying a soft (you’d almost considered a forehead kiss, but any kiss from you was sure to wake Masumi up), fluffy blanket across his sleeping form, a pair of arms wrapped around your waist, and you fall into him all too easily. He opens his eyes a crack, groggy, and nuzzles into your hair, “Mm... Don’t go... (Y/N),” he’d mumble. All Masumi felt like doing was falling into a sleepy daze with you, as his lips found your own, and you kissed him back. It was far too comfortable not to fall asleep in his embrace, perfectly content.
Tsuzuru
He’d been holed up in his room for a long while. Surely he must’ve have gotten hungry by now, right? It is at this point where you get up to go check on him; while you don’t want to disturb his creative process, especially at an important time, you also know there will be no process if he dies from lack of any proper nutrients. A glass of water with some buttery toast had been your offering of choice, knocking softly on his door, and well aware you wouldn’t receive a response, you slid inside. Ah, there he was...
In his dim, murky abode, he sits with his back to you, his only current movements the quickening tap, tap, tap of his nail against the wooden desk. Then, as if he suddenly was struck by lightning, he’d return to frantically typing out hunks of stage prompts and witty dialogue. It was a cycle, you’d notice. You come closer, he smells of coffee and fatigue, but when he notices you he still manages a soft smile. It’s not intentional; he’s simply always felt so comfortable around you. So he, still distracted, leans over to quickly peck you on the lips in gratitude, as if he already subconsciously views your fledging little relationship as something more, like you’d been married for years. You’d been a little shocked, flustered even, but you’d left quickly, trying to ignore the pink tint to your cheeks. When he comes fully to his senses, he buries his head in his hands and groans. Oh no... He’d have to make it up to you, that was no way to go about things! At least you’ll have an excuse to kiss him properly next time, won’t you?
Citron
To be with Citron often meant to be whisked away on all sorts of outings, and this time, idyllic, fields of insurmountable green spread wide before you both, dotted by specks of vibrant colour, waving in the cool spring breeze. Japan’s natural scenery could be breathtaking — it was a sentiment he had expressed to you on many occasions — yet only now did you feel this wonder as he did, threading your fingers into his, connecting palms and smiling at his elated grin.
So you proposed a fun kind of game; an obvious excuse to go dallying through the long grass. You were quite sure he’d win, but still, you bunched as many cloudlike dandelions in your hands as you could fit, only straightening when you felt a gentle tap to your elbow. Had he really gathered 100 in such a short amount of time? No, he’d used all his time weaving daisies into a circlet. You couldn’t feel so annoyed at him when he set it atop your head, stroking your hair fondly. “Ah, (Y/N), you look as if a Prince/Princess!” If it came from Citron, it must be true. You could nearly feel Muku’s sparkling eyes all the way back in Mankai as he took your hands in his own and twirled you, pulling you in again for a sweet kiss.
Itaru
Taruchi’s S/O just had that magic touch, it was the only explanation why they’d given him 5 SSRs in a row each time they drew for him. You, this godly being, had even replaced Sakuya as Itaru’s lucky charm. I’m impressed. Either way, he’d gotten caught in a difficult situation; the next Spring and Summer joint training ‘camp’ would take place in somewhere that had Wi-Fi, but the poor man didn’t have enough gems to bulk draw in the new gacha yet! Well, it was more that he’d busted his wallet on other games, leaving him unable to whale buy more of them until his next pay-check. It was up to one single draw, and you were going to be the key in his master plan...
You’d come to give Spring and Summer a sendoff, having rustled up a couple of snacks for the journey with Izumi (non-curry flavoured). Itaru had been somewhat troubled on how to get your blessing if you weren’t going to be there, Sakuya’s draws just hadn’t been the same... Either way, at the time you’d been chit-chatting together on the sofa, when at some point the conversation veered onto the topic, and he’d gotten the idea. It was a good opportunity to tease you, as he suggested you give him a ‘good luck kiss,’ so that you’d work some of your magic on his own draws. You, however, were no coward, so you took him right up on that... He hadn’t expected you to actually do it, to be fair, you’d honestly managed to take him by surprise! Of course, he got his SSR after that, the one that reminds him so much of you...
Thankyou for the ask, Anon! Sorry for the long delay... •~•

Recently you answered an anon and mentioned how a belief in spirits is directly tied up in traditional witchcraft since it is from spirits that a witch divines her power. I was wondering if you'd be willing or able to speak a little more on the relationship between spirit belief and trad. witchcraft.
I will add a disclaimer here first, stating that this is traditional witchcraft as I know it, and that others may have other opinions and practises. Traditional witchcraft is not a monolith.
Okay, so on to your question. Traditional witchcraft is animist. It (broadly) believes in spirits of many things. This is largely where differences come from, because localities are so different. Swamp spirits are not going to be the same as desert spirits, because the environs are so different. They are not going to want the same things and they are not going to have the same ways of relating. That’s not a bad thing. However, because of this, a witch surrounded by swamp spirits isn’’t going to be able to teach someone traditional witchcraft who is in the desert. It’s sort of like learning proper etiquette for meeting people in America and then applying that to Japan – it doesn’t really work. It may get across, but it will be awkward and look exceedingly stupid.
I have gotten asked multiple times for books suggestions on traditional witchcraft, and every time I stumble. Partially because I just haven’t read many, and partially because it’s not something that can be learned from a book, and me talking about how I love to read Three Books of Occult Philosophy because I am a giant nerd who writes theories on well, magical theory, for fun isn’t going to help anyone understand traditional witchcraft, because it isn’t, it’s ceremonial.
My first experience with modern witchcraft was mean teenage girls who had gotten a copy of To Ride A Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf, and after reading it, were witches. I had no idea how to relate to it.I grew up in a little town where books on witchcraft just wasn’t a thing. I grew up in a family where books were supplementary, if anything. My father hasn’t read a book since he graduated high school.
In my last post post I likened modern witchcraft to wizardry in Dungeons & Dragons and I still agree with that. The wizard takes time and study to learn and research and tap into magic. My understanding of modern witchcraft is that it believes everyone can practise magic, and that everyone has the capacity for magic, all on their own, they just have to learn and find it, then exercise it like a muscle. There are tons of starter books, tons of posts on tumblr about new witches, and that’s all brilliant! I am not crticising any of it.
Traditional witchcraft, on the other hand, is not so…independent. It will absolutely accept that people are born with power, and some people more than others. It also accepts that anyone (and perhaps even everyone) can do magic. However, traditional witchcraft stalls there. It doesn’t say ‘read this in a book,’ it doesn’t say ‘power is inside you.’ Traditional witchcraft is taught by the spirits you work with, and especially the spirits you initiate with. These spirits are the ones who teach you, they are the ones who guide your feet. They are the ones who power your workings, beyond that which you could hope to achieve on your own. In many circles to try and teach traditional witchcraft fully to another person will literally kill the witch fire in you, because you have given it to someone else – you are human and thus, not able to light someone’s witch fire without losing your own. This is why people like @ofwoodandbone and I will say that we can’t tell someone something – it isn’t our place, and for that matter, it may not be right for that person. It may be something that our spirits have sworn us to secrecy on and we cannot share, even if we wanted too. (And why would we want to, when the witch learns so much more from the journey?) This is also why someone on a trad path may not call themselves a witch until they’ve completed The Death.
Someone who initiates with the Witch Father is going to have a very different experience and a very different craft from someone who initiates with Melusine, just like how, in my analogy from my last post, the Warlock in D&D who is pacted to an Archfiend is going to have a different skillset and spell list than one who pacts with an Archfey. They’re both warlocks, their classes are the same, but it’s not universal, and it’s going to be very different from that wizard. Why? Because their spirits are not the same. Spirits are not some homogeneous blob, some Jungian universal memory with no personality. No – what my ancestors and spirits are going to want served at Supper are going to be different than what yours do.
For example, some people have guests remove their shoes once they enter the home, because shoes are dirty. Other people find this disgusting, and don’t want people taking off their shoes, because feet are gross. So it is with spirits – they tell you – they teach you – what it is they want of you. That relationship is why spirit belief is vital – you can’t learn it from books just like how you can’t get a girlfriend by reading romance novels – you have to go out there and meet the girl.

Do you have any recommendations for content to consume?
oh man, that’s so broad… Aight, lemme try to break this down… hm….
(if you want to offer specifics, feel free, but for now I’ll hit you up with the Little Bit of Everything Megan Likes and Recs list)
so. Books:
Anything by Alexandra Bracken. I suggest starting with the Darkest Minds and finishing that trilogy first before moving on to Passenger and its brand new sequel Wayfarer, but the two series are unconnected, so feel free. TDM is the singular BEST YA dystopia, and Passenger is a time-travel masterpiece with ships in that makes me swoon just thinking about it.
more kid, less teen, but the Ranger’s Apprentice series is, like, 15 books long and every single one of them is perfect and delightful. There’s archery and coffee and dry humor and good boys doing good things to save their small fantasy version of England while hanging out with fantasy Vikings and traveling to fantasy Japan and y’all it’s really good. It’s my favorite series ever, tbh, I’ve been reading it since I was 13, and it’s kept the standard up this long.
The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica by James A Owen. James is one of my favorite human beings in this world, and his books are brilliant fantasy; there are dragons and airships and Inklings and time travel and parallel universes and Shakespeare and Arthurian legends come to life…and dragons.
Obviously, anything by Brandon Sanderson. Obviously. But I’m trying to give you less-obvious suggestions so I have a higher chance of hitting something you haven’t read yet…
oH Stephen R Lawhead’s King Raven trilogy: it’s a retelling of Robin Hood, but it’s a different retelling of Robin Hood–it’s set in Wales and Robin is Welsh and it’s dark and kinda spooky but there’s magic that’s not really magic and evil Frenchmen and archery (oops that’s a theme here on this list) and a boy growing up to be a man by accident and struggling with leading a rebellion he never wanted and didn’t plan for.
I could keep going but this is gonna get so long…
Movies:
I’m currently obsessed with STAR WARS. I mean, I’m ALWAYS obsessed with Star Wars, so this isn’t news, but Rogue One was REALLY GOOD and there’s 7 other movies to watch before that one, so yes. Star Wars.
Listen, everyone said the Warcraft movie was dumb, but I will fight you: even if you know nothing about World of Warcraft, this movie was just some good, plain fantasy. And it’s gorgeous. And Khadgar is there. Trust me, you will love my smol mage son.
The new “live action” Jungle Book. Again, gorgeously filmed, the animal animation is stunning, and the kid is brilliant. It captures the tone and feel of the original animated Disney movie but adds …more. More depth, more plot, more character development…just more. It’s A+.
Star Trek: Beyond. I don’t even have words for this one, it’s just…The Best. It’s the most hopeful and bright and non-cynical movie you will watch from the past five years, and it’s beautiful to boot. Go now.
Into the Woods. I adore movie-musicals, mostly because I love movies and I love musicals even more, so it’s a perfect combo, but Into the Woods has a fantastic and unexpected cast and it’s Sondheim at his rhyming best, and it’s beautiful despite its darkness, and if you like fairy tales, this is for you.
TVShows:
The Librarians. This one is a little complicated because you NEED to start with the made-for-TV movie Quest for the Spear, but once you’ve seen Flynn at his finest, the TV show continuation is THE BEST. It’s about a buncha nerds trying to save the world from evil people who want to use magic to destroy it/rule it/take over. And it’s FUNNY and everyone is CUTE and the team is a cowboy art historian, an Australian thief, and a synesthete mathemagician, their badass ex-NATO Guardian, and their grumpy Uncle Jenkins. Trust me. It’s the best thing you will watch that’s still airing.
In that same vein, Leverage is the best thing you will watch that’s (unfortunately) not still airing. Team of five thieves Robin Hoods their way through every evil CEO and corrupt one-percenter they can find in order to help the people the big wigs have wronged. Hilarious and with the best character group-dynamics you will ever see. Brilliant and Netflixable.
If you like crime dramas, I can recommend ALL 14 SEASONS OF NCIS. By far the best of the crime dramas, if for no other reason than Leroy Jethro Gibbs exists and is a wonderful, grumpy, coffee-addicted dad of a human being. And it’s also all on Netflix.
The West Wing (also netflix) is a really beautiful way to learn about politics, or rather politics as it should be. Also the characters are magnificent. Yes, all of them.
Video Games:
this is harder for me, because usually I’m the one getting recs but I’ll try:
Journey is a beautiful, small game that had me in tears even though not a single word is spoken through the whole thing. Trust me.
At the risk of beating a dead horse, Bioware games, ie Mass Effect and Dragon Age. They’re huge, and I assume that even if you’ve never played them, you know about them, but honestly, I have to mention them. They’ve sort of taken over my life, but they’re good and worthy of doing so.
And, idk how you feel about Assassin’s Creed, but the Chronicles are…actually really amazing. I hate to call them mini-games, because they’re not, but they’re not quite full-length either. They are three, 2-D adventures connected by the artifact your three main characters are searching for throughout three completely different time periods and places. China was the best, but India and Russia have their moments. I love the mechanics of them, the 2-D giving it a puzzle vibe, and the need to sneak instead of just assassinate makes it both frustrating but exciting, complicated but rewarding when you get through it. They’re super fun. A nice diversion from the rest of the clusterfuck that is Ubisoft. God, I hate that they own my soul.
All right, I hope that helps even a little bit, anon? I don’t know what you’ve already consumed, so sorry if this is all stuff you already know about, but it’s all my Favorite and I hope that at least something is new and exciting for you! If you want to give me narrower specs (genres or media types or something) lemme know and I will attempt to tailor my recs a little better. But for now, this is the Best of the Best imo.

Karamatsu I think you might need to go talk to osomatsu, I have a feeling that he won't talk to you unless you go to him.
Tord what do you think of Karsmatsu his brothers so far? I'm curious since I have a feeling that you probably don't like them after the research you did.

To the other Matsuno are you guys saying that you purposely make things so bad for your second oldest brother so he would purposely leave? Why would you do that? I mean it's not like he's ever done anything to any of you to deserve that kind of treatment.
Choro: we never said that and yeah we are terrible but…
Ichi: none of you had to live with living disco ball for pretty much 20 years!
Todo: ignore him but yeah we definitely went too far so if Karamatsu nii-san wants us in his life or not that’s his choice.

Rest of the Matsuno Brothers, do you feel the same way that osomatsu feels towards to Karamatsu? And did you know that you guys were hurting him like that?
The four: ….
Todo: well he did ditch us
Choro: but it’s not like we didn’t deserve it
Ichi: some of us made the situation worse on purpose
Jyushi: I’m just happy Karamatsu nii-san has his happy ending now

Of course he wouldn't be open about his feelings, especially with the way y'all treated him. Osomatsu, you can't honestly blame your writers for being a lousy older brother. It's not like he has any other older brother to depend on besides you, since you're his only older brother. Besides from the way I see it, you act more like his younger brother and also demand respect as his older brother when it suits your convenience.
Oso: oh shut up it’s not like you all didn’t enjoy watching his pain so you can’t just point the finger at me and ignore the entertainment you all got from seeing him suffer.

Osomatsu did you not realize what you were doing to Karamatsu? I mean it was pretty obvious how badly you all treated him. I mean you guys basically abused him on a regular basis.
