THE SPIDER-WOMAN && THE SHROUD .
Tumblr media
(** Fair warning, this is a bit of a long post due to pictures**) To start off, the way they first encounter each other is just so perfect ⸺ Max just flat out VULCAN NERVE PINCHES her while she's at her receptionist job. And the fact it works. It's Spider-Woman's weakness and that's simply just hilarious to me.
Then after meeting each other properly ( he breaks into her house while she's in the shower ), he stays the night on her couch. In the morning, she wakes up to find him cooking her some breakfast. . . 🥺🥺
Tumblr media
❝ Ms. Drew ❞ just tickles me coming from him idc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I Love The Way They FLIRT.
❝ If you're embarrassed to hold hands ⸺ ❞ actually teasing her rn. Can't believe he took her hand after using it to blast someone please.
Tumblr media
AND IT !! WORKS !!! This is what she's thinking in that moment.
Tumblr media
No comment really this is cute af ❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Read this as you will :))) U ask me, it's because he would Blush A Lil. Also I just. . . ❝ Mr. Shroud ❞ ❝ Ms. Spider ❞ 😌🖤
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Literally INSISTS on taking her out for steak and wine !!! Could have suggested anything else but that's the first dinner he thinks of. ( truly tragic they didn't draw them out to dinner and there's a time skip instead 😔 ).
Tumblr media
While they are waiting for their targets, he listens to her and tries to Ease Her Woes for over an hour. . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❝ See you in the dark, babe. ❞ GIGGLING !!! Needs someone just as melodramatic as her.
One of those SHIELD agents, for the record, is Jerry LOL.
Tumblr media
I MEAN COME ON.
A long time later, when Jessica basically fkin dies, she requests Magnus wipes the memories of those who knew her. They all remember her in some form, though vaguely, distantly. . . But Max just KNOWS. . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
:') 🥹
Look, I gotta include the bit below bc I love the way he gd throws himself off the roof without second thought because he sensed her ghost.
Tumblr media
❝ anyway she was gone by the time the lovesick fool saved himself ⸺ ❞
Tumblr media
I mean ⸺
Tumblr media
After a hellish battle with Morgan Le Fay, he and the rest of the present Avengers are able to help save Jessica Drew's life. And there he is. . . Holding Her Hand. . .
Tumblr media
Below is unfortunately the last time they are seen together for a looong time ( fkin 1984 to 2023 !! 😭 ). And it's just so damn adorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her powers are gone at this time, they start to come back at a later date. Yet still such confidence in her !! Love him !!
Dr. Strange is watching this whole thing from afar, and the comment he makes about them, I ⸺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ME TF TOO STEPHEN !!!
The most recent time they've been together was pretty Bare Bones flirtation wise :(((( given the Dire Situation™️.
But we do have this. . .
Tumblr media
It's just so soft. . .

jess being the shortstop is driving me insane. like they don’t really show it onscreen (which is a shame! but runtimes i get it) but shortstops are literally the heart of the team. they’re the ones calling out the pitch count and reminding people where the play is. more often than not they’re the cutoff from the outfield. they back up the pitcher and the third baseman AND they cover both second and third. second base is the most stolen base bc it’s the furthest from home plate and therefore the hardest to throw out, and shortstop usually covers second when a steal is being made. most right hand batters pull to left field so they tend to get the most action. due to being between second and third if there’s a double play being turned they’re usually a part of it one way or another. they get hard liners and grounders as well as the occasional easy pop-up so they’re always on their toes and usually fielding the most difficult hits
also the pitcher/shortstop dynamic is soooo important. yes pitcher/catcher dynamic we get it but most of the time pitchers are too focused on pitching to be able to field well, especially because any ball that comes their way is gonna be hot due to the fact that pitchers are the closest fielder to the batter. shortstop covers the pitcher when they don’t have time to pull out of the pitch follow-through. they charge the ball when a bunt happens bc the pitcher doesn’t have time to react quick enough. they’re the one who reminds the pitcher where they’re at in the count and encourages them. it’s easier for shortstop to get to the mound than the catcher so often shortstop is the one going to the pitcher to reassure them if they’re having a hard time. they’re the fielder for the pitcher so that the pitcher only has to focus on throwing strikes. do you get what i’m saying. jesslupe nation are you picking up what i’m putting down here. do you understand why i’m going crazy about this.
basically what i’m saying is jess being shortstop just makes sense bc she is always there looking out for everyone and backing everyone up (but especially lupe), casually covering the most ground without thought, simultaneously light on her feet and a solid brick wall as the occasion calls for, covering the hole, leading the team from behind. you can’t be a shortstop without being a team player, and you don’t have a team unless you have a strong shortstop on the diamond 🥲

I like to think that Wally, Bart and Ace are massive sneaker heads. They aren't into the fashionable sneakers though, they like the sneakers with the 4 inch triple plated soles that got banned from sports for being too good.
Can they wear them? No, of course not. They wear super cheap sneakers and boots because they burn through shoes faster than you can blink. If they bought the super fancy banned sneakers they would shred them in seconds.
They respect them though. They admire from a distance. They know they can't touch the thing they love without destroying it.

alright, since the Remedy brainworms got me I've been replaying Control, got to the AWE expansion last night and picking up on all the echoes/foreshadowing for Alan Wake 2 is making me go utterly bonkers, but like. has anyone picked up on or talked about how in all of Alan's Hotline messages to Jesse, when he's writing about her POV, he exclusively calls her 'Faden'
like, maybe it didn't poke my brain the first time I played it since he does the same thing when talking about Hartman, but coming from AW2 it's pretty jarring as a stylistic oddity...almost like there's a reason (in-universe and/or out-of-universe) that he doesn't call her 'Jesse'...almost like there's only one Faden in his story...
and given how in AW2 we also get some (quasi-) clarification regarding the limits of Alan's ability to "make stuff up" vs alter and rewrite "real-world" events that he sees in clairvoyant flashes...given the Night Springs screenplay pages you can find in AWE that parallels the FBC and the events of Control (i.e. a Director and a Scientist opening a portal to another dimension, finding an eldritch Entity, the Director trying to take its power for himself and then getting taken over before shooting himself)...given how literally all of the "dreams" Dylan tells Jesse about are descriptions/viewings of stuff that takes place on one level of reality or another ("I was the director and you were an intern"; "we were in a game, and it was a fucking boring game but you couldn't stop playing it"; Mister Door, and "a world with a writer writing about a cop, and another world where the writer was real"; a "musical" about Jesse), except, seemingly, the dream about "Jesse Dylan Faden"...
guys. are you picking up what I'm putting down here. guys. GUYS

Wally, sipping on hot chocolate: so... Where are you going?
Barry, doing the same: yeah.
Iris: I'm going to talk with our beloved Wally's parents.
Wally ii: what's up with the knife?
Iris: a gift from the Wayne's.
Avery: why are you taking it?
Bart: ain't Rudy your brother?
Iris: don't worry about it, and no Bart, honey, he's not my brother.
Don: ... Ain't he in prison?
Dawn: and we have a restraining order on him.
Thad: we're not going to be able to stop you, are we...
Iris: he's out, I don't care we have a restraining order on him, and no. The Wayne's bugged his house and he thinks he's entitled to see my first child and have him take care of him now because he's working for the Wayne's, so we're going to talk.
Jay: get it girl.
Them: don't encourage her.
Jesse: I'm getting an alibi then...
Iris: actually, Bruce is kind to pay off the police for me.
Wally: Dick actually use his blackmail on him finally, so scary...
Max: finally? What do you mean finally??
Wally and Barry: don't worry about it.
Iris: well, I'm off. Dinner is on the stove.
Wally ii: welp... You think we're getting funeral potatoes then?
Leo: I want funeral lasagna, also can we drink?
Wally: we're getting nothing from anyone but grandpa, he ain't got no friends.
Leo: lame, also Bar-Bar,,, you're not going to stop her?
Barry: it's Rudy, I'm not saving that man. We're getting pizza too btw.

Walt is the least sympathetic of all the BrBa criminals/anti-heroes/rogues gallery because he's the one (major) character who doesn't have a clear and unambiguous "reason" for being the way he is. There is an unflinching refusal to give this character a "Freudian excuse" for his behavior and I just...love that.
It is not only an extremely brave choice from a writing perspective for your protagonist (and really only works because Bryan Cranston can somehow wring sympathy out of this dry husk amoral sponge of a person), but also makes him the most realistic portrayal of what evil really is. Walt feels the least like a television version of how a person becomes bad because there's not one reason it happens, and there's an aspect to his moral descent that's both mundane and mysterious—his motives unfold gradually, they change, and the show never really seeks to outright explain why it happened beyond the obvious inciting event—his cancer diagnosis. Was there something in him always not quite "right" or was there just a unique confluence of circumstances that caused Walt's complete moral transformation? In his own words—he liked it, he was good at it, and it made him feel alive. Maybe it is just as simple as that. Evil is actually a lot less interesting than people give it credit for.
There are so many things about his personality that are just never explained but must have some explanation, surely. For example: Walt's hang-ups about money—his obsession with being the one who provides it for his family and his reactive disdain for charity (even Saul points out there's clearly deep-seated issues there lol.) You could very easily see a different writer backstory dumping a lot of explicit childhood trauma with Walt and his single mother being poor and him getting bullied and this being where his weird inferiority complex about hand-outs come from. Instead this is just a huge part of his personality that has no obvious singular explanation. Why is he like this? Who the hell knows!
Which I personally really like, because regardless of whether that happened to him as a kid (I have to assume something like that was going on with child Walt because he has really specific neurosis) it has no ultimate bearing on the morality of his actions. There is no excuse for what he does, ultimately, and I just love that the show gives you very few reasons to feel sorry for him, at least as far as his backstory goes. Even the merits of his Gretchen and Elliot resentment is called into question (though left vague.)
In a weird, counter-intuitive way this lack of explanation for his behavior makes me feel more sympathy for him (again, Cranston acting magic pulling its weight.) But it's such a subjective thing with him. How you feel about Walt hinges on the performance, the character's actions in the story itself and what the viewer chooses to extrapolate from both. I can't blame people for thinking he's just kind of a low-empathy asshole, though I personally find that explanation reductive and less interesting, I cannot argue with it as a valid read. He is very, very hate-able for so many reasons. There's something refreshing about how unapologetic the writing for him is in that way.

REN!! I am backflipping into your inbox!
You may have answered this before so please forgive me if you have, but do you have heights for the core six ninja? Presently and for the future?
Ik you've done it for the OCs but I can't see if you've done the core six ;×;
HI FINN!!! Good too see ya ^-^)/
I have answered this a couple times BUT I am a wishy-washy person and enjoy changing my mind at a moment's notice and as the plot demands. So, I don't mind reclarifying!
For now, I got the Main Group's Maximum Heights, and People Who Notably WILL Have a Height Change Eventually. People who aren't noted to have a height change are probably already at maximum height (Kai is a potential exception, and this does not apply to Pixal who fluctuates)
Like I said, not fully committed to any of this yet (except Jay cuz I need this for a very specific moment in Skybound), but that is currently what I have decided for now ahaha

i think the thing about the ongoing greta/carson conflict is that greta expected her to understand the rules. in her head, she imagines carson's known she's been into women for a while (because that's greta's own experience) and to have an instinctive understanding of the sorts of self-preservation and restrictions and hoops she puts herself through in order to accommodate her sexuality without appearing too threatening or stand out socially. she expected this because she and jo have had a long-standing knowledge of who they are and even though jo is more visibly butch than greta, they've both been doing this long enough to know where the line is. but greta just like, can't wrap her brain around it taking carson this long to even figure out she liked women, and so to have zero understanding of the line or where it is or what it's there for. to carson it looks like mixed signals and coquettishness (and i think it partly is) but to greta it's just. what we do to stay safe and have fun at the same time. what we all do, right?

Shout out to all the fantastic butch and masc representation in A league of Their Own!!
It's been deeply needed and is appreciated. Honestly, didn't know how badly I needed to see rep like this on a big production show. Feels kinda like relief to be seen.

also it's so funny the rory/dean/tristan dynamic is so incredibly similar to the rory/dean/jess dynamic like the second tristan has left the show, jess is the one getting on dean's nerves and messing with their relationship LIKE the exact same conflict truly, they could've done something less love triangle-y, could've just let rory fall for jess and break up with dean but noooo

It's endlessly funny to me that some poor alien in One Minute War is going to be forced to write a threat assessment on Earth's active defenses and it's going to solely consist of two seniors, an adult, two young adults, one pregnant young adult and seven minors aged ~4-17.
Normally threat assessments and war intel is focused on access to supplies, number of soldiers, strategic locations, known routes, training/education, gear, weapons, vehicles, allies, political landscapes, relevant history, ect.
This threat assessment is going to be a book report on the Flash family. That's all they have to go off of. The strategic advantage is that the kid's bedtime is at 7:30. The relevant war history will be that one of the 100+ year olds was a military messenger in the 17th century and the other 100+ year old was a special operative contracted during World War 2. Four college diplomas, four report cards, a Flash museum pamphlet and a collection of mint edition Flash comics are submitted as evidence. The list of tactical gear consists of a cool ring and sneakers. For 'political landscape' they write about Jai's journal entries which suggest that there is great turmoil among Earth's ranks over who does the dishes on any given night. This is marked as having potential for psychological warfare.
