Hogwarts Castle micro build set
My castle collection grows! I love the micro build castles, they look great and don’t take up too much space.
My new macro lens is fully manual, which isn’t a huge issue since I shoot manual anyways, but when I pushed the trigger it wouldn’t activate the shutter. 😨 I was panicking because I thought I’d have to return it, but it turns out that there’s a setting to activate the trigger when there’s no lens (or a manual lens it can sense). Whew, I can keep my new shiny lens and I’m thinking of ways I can use it.

Usually, landlords of old buildings in New York City divide their apts. into micro-apts. themselves, but this is the first new building actually built to be micro-apts.
Tumblr media
A 55-unit prefabricated building has intentionally small dwellings between 260 and 360 sq. ft.- about half the size of the city’s typical studio.
Tumblr media
The city’s current regulations do not allow apartments smaller than 400 sq. ft. but the Mayor’s office waived these restrictions for Carmel Place, as the pilot project is named.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This initiative will evaluate quality of life in micro units. It’s the only pairing of tiny homes with higher-end amenities, including a gym and roof terrace.
Tumblr media
The point of building smaller is to offer lower prices and the chance to escape roommates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are betting people will pay the same money for a smaller space in a modern, centrally located building.
Tumblr media
Of the 12 market-rate units currently up for grabs, (five more will become available over the next month), none is cheaper than $2,540 a month, roughly equal to Manhattan’s median studio rent.
Tumblr media
This is that same layout where the toilet is immediately in the entrance.
Tumblr media
The remaining apartments break into two categories of subsidy at $950 and $1,490 a month, plus another eight units reserved for homeless veterans. Sixty thousand people applied for a subsidized slot.

I’m not asking for an actual timeline of the game development process, I was just wondering what you had expected as far as a time frame when you started? I’m new at programming and game development myself and I know it takes a long time, especially on a solo mission, so I was curious if you were pretty close to estimating your skill level in terms of getting where you are… if that makes sense?
To be up front, I'm not the best person to ask this. I'm a hobbyist, and do this between the occasional commissions, my day job, ADHD, and frequent health problems.
When I suggested this game about 8 years ago, I was in art college for an animation degree with just a few *coughpoorlytaughtcough* game dev classes. I thought I could make it in maybe 3 years because that's what I heard was a usual amount of time, only to stop for a several year hiatus until about 2022. I only recently started learning how to pull my shit together in the form of doing small build after small build. That's still an uphill battle with ADHD, but I'm trying.
I didn't start my dev journey..."professionally," as it were. I still treat this as skill building. Like a beginner pianist who's learning their scales and how to read sheet music. I learned the most about the engine I use, RPG Maker MV, by fucking around in projects that didn't get too far. I love to push it's limits by attempting to execute visual elements that the engine wasn't built for, which requires me to learn about it's basics. I'm as clear on the path to the end of this game only because I have a good grasp on what MV can do now, on top of dropping some features that crept up on me.......I was actually planning to animate every menu in the beginning. Like a maniac.
So, uh, my answer is I missed my timeline by a huge margin and I'm still terrible at estimations. I try not to let that past hold me back though.

oh but while I'm thinking of delicious, super specific g/t tropes
Tinies seeing the aftermath of the giant before seeing the giant themself
Tinies seeing the trees broken and toppled in a clear path through the woods. Tinies seeing the large, deep gashes high above in the steel walls and ceilings of a facility. Tinies seeing the unfathomable destruction of sturdy structures that could not be done by anything man made. Tinies seeing massive objects quietly and suddenly moved from where they had just seen it moments ago to right beside them.
And the fear the follows this confusion, the growing dread that something isn't right because nothing logical should be able to make these kinds of imprints. So they back away slowly, terror mounting, maybe ready to make a break for it or maybe just wanting to put some distance between themself and the anomaly
Only to run right into the giant looming behind them

Progress pic for Bruce's townhouse and street
Tumblr media
This will take a while to finish. I did a bit of the outside of 6 townhouses and decorated the garage for Bruce. I still gotta decorate all the houses and build some community lots down the street. The micro-cave in the sewers is gonna be fun to build.

Janus sometimes will have the others play out little family comedy shows for his amusement while in the dollhouse, and he makes sure to record every episode so the others can randomly walk in on him watching their tiny bodies move around even when they're big
he definitely saves them as fun little episodes he can watch and enjoy. he doesnt edit them at all, instead opting to watch things play out in real time. their bad acting or muttered, humiliated complaints all caught on camera, until januss hand comes into frame to poke or touch one of them, which is when the videos really get good
