Can I just scream about these two for a minute??

Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi are so capable, so strong, so fluid and in harmony together as cultivators. Even Wei Wuxian himself is impressed by how skilled they are at such a young age.

And really, who would expect any less from Lan Clan disciples who’ve learned from the Twin Jades of Lan? But these two go so far beyond that. They are, in every sense of the phrase, core disciples. Trusted enough to handle situations like Mo Manor on their own, skilled enough to subdue something as resentful as the arm—something they’ve probably never come across in their short years of training, and determined enough to not give up even when the situation becomes dire and seems impossible.

You can give most of the credit to their seniors if you want but their level of cultivation wouldn’t be this high if they themselves didn’t put in the work, dedication and self-discipline to supersede all expectations and harness their full potential.

My boys deserve some goddamn respect on their names and that’s final. ⚔️

Heeeeeey!

Thank you so much for the messages I got wondering if I was alright. I am! I just have the worst luck ever!

But at least I'm in good health? And alive. That's a win too. I'm just convinced more than ever that nothing good will ever happen to me without something horrible happening right after 😓

So I made it back to Santiago from home on Sunday night and all was well. But I got robbed on Monday! After work, rght outside a subway station! And not only the asshole took my cellphone, he punched me in the face to make me drop it!! 😒 I almost never take my phone out in public for security reasons but when my boss called, I answered because I thought I had left something important at work. But when I hung up while I was leaving the subway station, before I could put my phone back in my pocket, a huge dude came to towards me, punched me in the face and then left with my phone! 😩

It wasn't even a nice phone, it was basic af and I had it for three years, but it had my stuff and UGHHHH I had to go to the police and then to the hospital to get my face checked because my cheek swelled right away. At least he avoided my glasses? Oh and I had to block my phone number with the mobile company, my bank account because of the bank app and another banking app i use.

To make things worse, I left my tablet back at my mom's by mistake last weekend so I had no electronic device with my info to block my stuff myself. I had to ask my sister to do it and to post a message on instagram in case my friends got any weird messages and to let people know I wouldn't be available. And that if someone talked to them via whatsapp, it wasn't me.

I didn't think about her doing the same for me here, I didn't think anyone would notice or care oops, sorry for that 😬

AND UUUUGHHH I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THE S3 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! At least I can enjoy the theories and gifs now 😑 I also can't believe I missed a WHOLE week of OMR beauty content with Omar looking gorgeous and downright sinful wtf

Now I'm back home because tomorrow I have to go vote, got my tablet back and blocked absolutely everything. At least since I sold my soul to google, I don't have to try to remember my passwords lol and could basically wipe everything from my phone remotely.

But yeah, I'm okay! I'm only sporting an ugly bruise on my face that makes me look like I'm part of the lamest fight club in existence.

Ride the Cyclone's Ableism Runs so Much Deeper than I Realised

Hi friends! Its been a while since I spoke about Ride the Cyclone, because it was a shitshow and I quite frankly wanted nothing to do with it anymore.

But I am a chronic ruminator, and its midnight and I am currently in a pain flare, so I have found myself ruminating on RTC. In my head, I jokingly introduced Ocean as "Ablest Extraordinaire!" - which led me to realise that while Ocean is the only one who is explicitly ableist, the others are inherently complicit in her ableism, as they stand by and do literally nothing about it. And they were most likely the exact same while they were all alive.

And then I had the realisation:

The choir only deem Ricky worth listening to - his story worthy of being heard - after he is magically cured of his disabilities and is all of a sudden able-bodied. Now that his existence is palatable to the ableds.

Isn't this an amazing message to be sending to disabled kids? (/s) That in order to even be listened to they should suppress their access needs (by ditching the mobility aids and/or forcing themselves to communicate verbally).

And this isn't just a mentality expressed in the show (and by extension, by Jacob Richmond/Brooke Maxwell), it is one that is expressed by the teams that produce this musical. Exhibit A: McCarter theatre. They hire yannick-robin, but try to dictate which mobility aids he uses, and when, in order to try and make his disabilities more palatable to them and their target audience. And the moment yannick experiences a symptom of said disability (*gasp* shocking, I know, that a consistent denial of one's access needs leads to intensified symptoms) that doesn't fit with the carefully curated image of disability they want to portray, they throw him aside and deem him too "inconsistent".

Fucking pathetic, if you ask me.

To any disabled folks reading this:

You deserve to be heard, as you are. Tell your story however the fuck you see fit. You don't need to force yourself to be palatable to the ableds. They need to pull their heads out of their asses and grow the fuck up, quite frankly. And don't let anyone diminish your access needs - you deserve to have equal access in EVERYTHING. I love you all xx

In "There are Other Ways", this is always how I imagine it.

When Circe sings "Don't break from this", she pulls Odysseus back to her because as it implies, he's turning away. Then it's "So much power x3" and to me, it's Circe leaning in to kiss but Odysseus pulling his head back each time Circe goes in closer to his face.

On the final one, he fully turns his head to the side, scowling...Only for his eyes to go wide as he sees his piggy comrades. Then Circe grabs under his chin, and turns his face back towards her as his face twists up as he realizes, "He does have a choice but which can he live with?" with her "There's no puppet here~"

as an avid listener of both lmm and taylor, it's interesting to me that my interest and affection have gone down for taylor and remain constant for lin - when arguably the past 2-3 years have never been a better time to be a taylor swift fan, and never been a worse time to be a lmm fan.

both are mainstream and have mega viral songs. both have different struggles in the public eye - taylor being a woman (the 2010s were absolutely vile to her), lmm being latino (i will never shut up about how people would be so much nicer to him if he was a conventionally attractive white man). both arguably have recognizable styles that some people really don't like.

and yet. in the past few years i've grown less and less enthusiastic about taylor's music, and i think it's because she doesn't treat it like music. does that make sense? her fans aren't real people making time from their day for her, they're consumers. her album is content for sale. maybe this is unfair and just because of her marketing strategies or whatnot, but that's how i feel. and i've never been invested in her personal life, so it has nothing to do with that.

for all the heat that people give lmm, some of it justified, i don't think you can say that he doesn't care. does he act "cringey"? sure! and idgaf, because i much prefer raw, unfiltered enthusiasm than a cool idgaf attitude especially in today's age of microtrends and media. i don't think you can listen to the man talk about his projects without realizing how much he cares about what he's made.

and i dunno, that's bled over a lot to the point where i'm excited for his future projects whether or not i think i'll like them. there's trust that even if it's not to my taste, i'll be able to tell that it's been made with something, not shipped out of a factory. and i'm even moreso excited about his new musical because as much as i enjoyed moana and encanto, he's the type that really shines when he's fully doing what he wants, i think. something as nerdy and niche like an alexander hamilton musical, for example.

I will never get over the power of music, it helps me through every emotion, it’s got me to do daily tasks I find exhausting, it’s pulled me out of panic attacks. Honestly I owe my life to music because when words aren’t enough somehow music will say it all for you. If you’re someone who creates it never stop because you never know when one of your songs could be somebody’s saving grace believe me.

it's the czech singer Václav Neckář, one of my absolute favourites. (music wise but he was also an actor and played the main role in one of my favourite czech movies, so a general icon and the man of my dreams since childhood, a large part of my bi and trans awakenings).

this photo would be taken sometime in the sixties/early seventies considering how young he is. he generally had this really preppy good boy look so seeing him in a darker aesthetic was really surprising and fun and i love this picture.

#hi im back and experimenting #ive had the gnarliest art block for the past like month and a half sorry! i made this to try to break out of it #for more context this happened on the night we got drunk and watched spiderman 2 (2004) and i looked up the soundtrack afterwards #and fell down a rabbithole bc switchfoot is on it #my dad used to listen to contemporary christian radio (probably still does) so i heard a lot of the more popular Christian hits of the 2000s #also christian stations will play what the fuck ever sometimes if a song can be read in even a little bit of a christian way #idk how christian the fray is (ig they did make 'you found me' but.) but ive heard 'how to save a life' on christian stations #and theres plenty of like. really lowkey christian bands. like switchfoot! and relient k!#most ppl alive in the 00s have probably heard 'dare you to move' just in nature. and christian stations loved that one #newsboys is on that spectrum somewhere i think. they did 'belly of the whale' for the Jonah a veggietales movie #and the dvd bonus features include the music video for that plus the video for 'a million pieces' which doesnt feel overtly christian to me #anyway! i hope everyone likes this vertical format! and the coloring. im still trying to adjust my style for that part #when csp says 'brightness' it does not nean 'color value' which is an issue for my new method #but yknow its a learning curve #furry #queer artist #smth smth #queer comics #trans artist
