you ever just love one really specific version of a particular trope?

like take sex pollen. fun trope, sometimes combined with fuck or die - it really ups the ante on what could just be a regular PWP fic with a twist, right?

but the sex pollen fics that I just can't get enough of are the ones where the people involved are really close friends who have mutual crushes that they don't want to admit because the friendship means so much to them and they don't want to make things awkward and then suddenly they get exposed to an alien plant or a magical flower or whatever the catalyst is and they just wanna bang each other into the floor - but they can't do that either because they're such good friends! but omg not doing it hurts so bad and their entire mind, body, and soul is focused on tearing each other's clothes off - but friendship!! ohno! and finally it culminates in them admitting how they actually feel about each other before having the kind of sex that doesn't exist in real life but holy fuck is it fun to read about

made banana chocolate chip pancake & slathered em in butter & my mom’s homemade red currant jelly & also homemade smoked maple syrup

#the smoke was a surprise. i opened a new jar of maple syrup that i picked up at christmas that was labeled ‘lil smokey’#and i was like damn! this is smoky!#my dad built a smoker a couple years ago so i guess it was only a matter of time til my mom threw some maple syrup in there #it’s good but it looks like i got two jars of just smoky syrup & no regular hahahaha #ive talked about this before but i’m so spoiled for maple syrup & jams and jellies. And yet, for all of the ultra-stylized stage play charm Asteroid City’s able to lead with because of its aesthetics, the illusion of it all quickly begins to falter once the Steenbecks really start interacting with people and the movie reveals itself to be far more interested in making sure that characters are always talking rather than making sure they have anything genuinely interesting to say.

Being the only person I know that cannot fathom the appeal of Wes Anderson’s films, I get some small vindication when I see reviews touching on the heart of my disinterest.

Great set design and a killer color scheme get me about halfway through one of his films before I start wondering why I am bothering, there’s no substance for me. No reason to keep viewing.

So much time and talent is wasted on these things - for a feature length, colorful doll’s house of...nothing.

I don’t get it.
