i don't know why but i really REALLY want to see an AU where endeavor is the japanese prime minister's wife (also we need more fanfics talking about Japanese government outside of the hero public safety commission)

Actually, would be pretty funny if Endeavor is still the husband in this scenario. No malewifing Endeavor here. He marries a woman.

In fact, he finds a better ice-quirk user to marry - someone with stronger ice powers than the top candidates that he was considered (ahem Rei). It is "unfornuate", as Endeavor concludes after their first blind date, that this woman is steadfast determined to continue her career trajectory (a degree in politics/policy/policy science?) and most assuredly not willing to be a housewife, but it's fine, Endeavor decides. It means he'll either have to arrange childcare or do it himself but that also means he can influence the child more directly and train the kid more.

Everything seems all good and dandy... Until he discovers, after the birth of Touya and Natsuo, his wife girlbossing too hard and had managed to complete college, grad school, and now had a full time position in the Japanese government. While juggling two pregnancies by the way. What agency he didn't know or care since it wasn't anything related to heroics. She's still doing her job of popping out more babies for him. So he stayed out of it.

When she decided to quit her job as staffer to some member of the National Diet (when did she start such a position? Endeavor wonders how he didn't notice it.), Endeavor blinked in surprise when she said she was gunning for something more ambitious. But he still didn't say anything. She stayed out of his work so it was only fair that he did the same to her career. Their partnership was good. (Duh, it's two workaholics who barely spend any time at home and say very little to each other if it didn't involve kids.)

And then one day Endeavor wakes up to the news that the prime minister of Japan was assassinated and his successor was predicted to be... his wife. A fact which none of the public seemed to be aware of by the way until this emergency election was announced. But now it was released... without Endeavor or his agency being made aware of such an announcement - bah, a "leak" the media called it. Endeavor was experienced enough in PR after all his years of heroics to know when a leak was planted.

It was unsurprising to see his wife win the election later that night. Especially unsurprising after the, now former and deceased, prime minister being assassinated by a villain (rumored to be connected to All For One who appeared to just gone off the grid a couple weeks ago from what Endeavor's intelligence team told him).

But now Endeavor has a wife who's the Prime Minister. And they have 4 kids - the youngest which is 7 years old. The nanny he had been using (named Rei) just had a mental breakdown after seeing the estate being besieged with reporters and the public and Endeavor was pretty sure she wasn't coming back to work ever. Oh, and he can kiss his dreams of defeating All Might and becoming the new No. 1 hero goodbye because even if he does become the new No. 1, he's never going to feel like he earned it himself - he's going to always wonder if it's a reflection of how popular (or not popular) his prime minster wife is with the public. And considering how, historically, prime ministers usually don't have such high approval ratings with Japan's regular villain attacks among other social problems...

Oh boy.

Figured I'd put side-by-side photos for better comparison to real life and the anime.

Shu

Started practicing violin a lot as a kid, but it was honestly a hobby to him. And this is probably when his love for classical music began.

He also started learning piano too. He has a natural talent for both, but violin came easier to him.

Began learning fencing as a child. (I have a post about Shu and Reiji hcs if anyone is interested. Click/tap here to check it out.)

Shu used to be taller than Reiji as a kid, but this changed later on.

Read poetry as a child and Beatrix also forced him to write some of his own so he’d develop the skill since the heir had to know how to do something finesse.

Since he’s the heir, he was expected to attend special balls and gatherings with Reiji by his side.

And here, you can best bet he was introduced to potential suitresses he would have to choose sometime later, but Beatrix thought it didn’t hurt for Shu to be introduced early.

She honestly hoped he’d become friends with one of his suitresses as children so they could grow up together and later be married.

It’s canon that Shu has a fear of clowns.

This fear probably resulted from Ayato and Laito jumping at him out of nowhere when they were kids, and scared him by wearing clown masks.

It’s also canon that he’s afraid of caterpillars.

This fear probably developed in his childhood through Reiji putting one in Shu’s tea once, and he’s been traumatized since due to Reiji’s scheming.

It’s canon that he knows Latin, so he probably started studying it when he was a child. Beatrix figured it’d be better for him to get familiarized with the human world since Karl was well accustomed, so through Shu being the heir, you can imagine Beatrix expected him to be very knowledgeable like Karl.

It’s canon that Shu used to sneak out as much as he could to get away from the castle.

Although, he would sometimes get caught by the servants who would immediately force him to come back and he’d be delivered to his mother for scolding.

But some servants looked the other way and let Shu go out and explore, mostly because they felt bad from how much pressure was on him as the heir.

When he met Edgar, he used to sneak out a lot to go see him.

In the manga, Shu said that he worked harder in his studies so he could finish them early and go have time to see Edgar.

Their friendship was so cute. :))

Had his first kiss at 13 (at least he looked 13) with some nobleman’s daughter since he was at the age of being curious as to what that would feel like.

Was quite close with some of his nannies and servants, at least the ones who let him get away with things his mother wouldn’t allow.

Reiji

Oh my gosh, look at our lil Rei. He was so cute as a kid. (Tbh, they all were.)

Apart from this, unfortunately, Reiji was alone for most of his childhood.

Read a lot as a kid, either for school or personal research.

Has gotten into literal fights with Shu, such as both them tackling each other and battling it out.

It usually took several servants to pry them apart.

They once ended up falling into a mud puddle during their fight and Beatrix was so pissed off that their suits had been soiled. You can bet her scolding was quite brutal and never-ending about this.

Probably started learning chess around this time as well. Lil Rei honestly found it interesting since it involved strategy, something that’s right up his alley.

His fear of ghosts probably developed as a child since he was always lonely, especially through always sleeping in his room alone as a kid and being considered foolish by his mother if he sought comfort.

It’s canon in one of the game routes that Reiji developed a healing cream formula as a child to aid vampires. So we can see how advanced his chemistry skills were even as a child.

Because there was a lot of pressure on him as a child by his mother he felt the need to perfect things so he was always practicing all his manners, tea pouring, dancing, and fencing skills.

He usually asks his servants to assist him and correct him if needed.

This is also why he is so good at dancing when it comes to the waltz.

It doesn’t surprise me if he had a maid/servant who used to help him practice.

At balls and events that he attended with Shu, he always tried to make a better impression than his brother, mostly because he just wanted to be acknowledged.

It’s canon that Reiji used to spy on Shu in hopes of catching him doing something un-heir-like so he could report it to his mom and get Shu scolded so he could be viewed as the more “mature” child.

He used to have tea time with his mother because she’d want to know what was going on with Shu.

Reiji at first thought it was because she wanted to spend time with him but he later learned that these tea times were only to know what Shu was up to and if he was misbehaving or hiding anything.

Still, Reiji did what he was asked because he figured he could possibly get the chance to tell his mother some news about his discoveries or something interesting.

However, it was always short-lived because she used to change subjects and always focus on Shu.

This is also why Reiji prefers to be alone because he could never have one conversation with her, without her not mentioning his older brother.

All our lil Rei wanted was a friend who would listen to him 😭.

Laito

It’s canon that Laito once stuck candy wrappers into Shu’s pocket to not get the blame for eating them. Shu’s still pissed at Laito for this since he ended up getting the blame along with getting scolded by Reiji.

Definitely developed his fear of bugs as a kid.

Ayato used to chase Laito around the courtyard with a bug in his hand and would try to get it on him.

He used to run around the mansion shirtless.

But also used to run around naked in the castle with his brothers.

Always took baths with his two little brothers, and he and Ayato always use to tease Kanato by pouring cold water on him or by stealing his bath toy.

This usually resulted in Kanato crying.

But sometimes they were nice to him and washed his hair since they felt bad. So they used to take turns washing each other’s hair.

Laito and Ayato always bribe Kanato with candy so they dare him to touch Reiji’s shoulder while he’s reading without being noticed or to mess with the cooks in the kitchen.

This way they can get a laugh out of it.

Laito used to have the servants read him bedtime stories before going to bed every night.

Kanato

Aww, isn’t he cute.

Let’s just pretend the bby in the photo on the right is Teddy lol.

It’s honestly funny how both are positioned in the same way.

Kanato wasn’t entirely alone during his childhood.

He mostly spent his time with Ayato and Laito, but sometimes he preferred to be alone.

Used to have pillow/stuffed animal fights in his room with Ayato and Laito. And they would usually end with pillows/stuffed animals ripping, causing a big cloud of fluff to explode about them.

Used to steal sweets from the castle's kitchen and was an expert at hiding it.

Little Kanato would usually sneak out of his room after everyone had been put to sleep and would sneak into the kitchen to grab a bite of whatever sweets the castle had prepared for tomorrow.

He once colored on the castle walls because he was so bored. Cordelia was so mad, but Karl honestly didn’t care since he claimed his son was expressing himself. Until this day, that wall remains with that design.

It’s canon that Kanato used to sing “Scarborough Fair” to Cordelia when he was a kid. He honestly had a natural talent for singing and finds it nice to sing on his own every so often as seen in the anime.

His brothers used to tease him about his height and he’d get sad and would claim that one day he’d be taller.

Sometimes Kanato would have nightmares as a kid. So he’d end up going to either Laito or Ayato’s room and crawl into their beds for comfort. Aww :’))

He used to be afraid of lighting as a kid.

He had a childhood crush once and Laito and Ayato teased him endlessly about it.

Used to finger paint with Laito and Ayato and they used to tease him by taking their fingers and dabbing their fingers on his nose to get paint on it. It would always make him upset.

Our poor little baby.

Ayato

Ayato usually spent his time with Kanato and Laito, but mostly Laito since sometimes Kanato wanted to be on his own.

Ayato once spent a lot of time with Kanato and Laito building this little motor that they could drive around.

Ayato decided to test it once inside the castle with Kanato and Laito.

And it actually worked! Ayato was having a lot of fun test-driving it around, and Kanato and Laito cheering him on and begging to have a turn.

But this was until Cordelia stopped Ayato and told him to go to his room for acting foolish.

In the end, their little motor ended up disappearing, and they later discovered that Cordelia had it burned.

It’s canon that Ayato took violin lessons as a kid, but this didn’t last long until Cordelia ended up breaking Ayato’s violin during her freakouts, to which his lessons ended. And he was honestly happy to get out of them.

Ayato always used to play monkey in the middle with Laito and Kanato. And you can best bet that Kanato was the monkey in the middle.

Kanato would always complain that he could never catch the ball and would throw tantrums about this.

Tbh, this hasn’t changed since the triplets play it like this until now lmao. xDD

Used to jump off the manor’s couches with Kanato and Laito with a cape and pretended he could fly.

Apparently, it’s canon that Ayato is afraid of bees. So with this, he probably developed this trauma because he got stung once when he was a kid and never got over it.

He used to grab little mice and release them into the kitchen because all the female cooks were afraid of them.

He used to get a kick out of it every time the cooks would start freaking out and throwing pots and pans and chasing them out with a broom.

He’s even done this to his aunt Beatrix but not his mom, he was too afraid. He knew she’d instantly catch on to it being him and suffer tremendous punishment for it.

Subaru

He was alone a lot of the time too.

As we know, Christa gave Subaru that silver knife he always carries around.

Whenever he was bored as a kid, he’d sometimes used it to carve or engrave things, or even weave bracelets.

He had a childhood crush! It was a girl (a child vampire like him) from a noble family that would sometimes come to court.

She was around his age and was pretty social. She noticed him at one of the gatherings and began hanging out with him since she found the gatherings boring.

So, they both would go outside since Subaru hates crowds himself. And from there, they developed a pretty cute and innocent friendship.

She actually got our little bby car to lighten up and would tag him out of nowhere so he could chase her around the courtyard.

And it was through this that Subaru developed a crush on her.

Sooner than later, he even went as far as carving his and her initials into a tree in the courtyard.

Their friendship lasted a good while throughout the years and through having such a connection, Subaru secretly swore that he’d marry her when they were of age.

But this all changed when the girl was forced to marry another suitor that was presented to her.

This left him pretty disappointed, but he figured it would end this way because he always thought it was too good to be true since he was raised to think he was “filthy.”

Used to engage in a bit of pottery making and he gave some of his works to his mom, which she gladly appreciated when she wasn’t having a mental breakdown.

Subaru keeps his little pottery works until now stashed somewhere hidden in his room so his brothers won’t find them.

And he can’t bring himself to throw them away despite part of him wanting to since he finds them foolish now. Whatever the case, he figures as long as his brothers don’t see nor find them, he’ll keep them.

Played tag with the triplets sometimes.

Would sometimes hang out with Shu, but it was rare.

They’d sometimes go on walks together in the courtyard or even carve things together, like a piece of wood from a nearby tree.

Shu once tried to teach Subaru violin, but it was a disaster.

Unfortunately, it was so bad that it was overheard by the entire castle ground and it resulted in a lot of people complaining. So with that, he never tried it again.

Despite this though, he still considered Shu his favorite brother since Shu never bothered him in an annoying way and was the only one who made an attempt to hang out with him every so often.

It’s canon that Subaru likes Kanato’s singing. Since Kanato used to sing to Cordelia when he was a child, Subaru probably overheard Kanato sing to Cordelia in the courtyard sometimes since he spent a lot of time there himself, and grew an admiration from there on out.

Subaru would sometimes use his knife to cut roses and bring them to his mom when she was feeling okay. It always brought a smile to her face.

Kitty (part 5)

Your alarm goes off just before seven but you’ve been awake a while, staring at the ceiling and blaming an internal body clock. Before you’d gone up to bed last night, Kazuki had said he’d take Miri to daycare in the morning but you’d assured him you could do it. You’d at least slept a bit before they’d come home and it’s not the first time you’ll get by on less than a full night’s sleep. You get up and dressed – a denim dungaree dress, black t-shirt and leggings – and head through to Miri’s bedroom, coaxing her out of bed and downstairs with the promise of her beloved chocolate cereal for breakfast if she plays what you’ve dubbed the whisper game, saying you both had to be as sneaky and quiet as mice. You’re hoping to keep the noise down to allow Kazuki and Rei some more sleep. Miri settles down with cartoons on mute as she eats and you eat something from Kazuki’s large amount of food prep from the other day. It’s then back up to the bedroom to get her dressed, do the temperature record and sentence or two about the late night for her book, and packing up her essentials for the day.

All packed and ready, you’re heading to the front door when the bathroom door slides open and a bed-headed – tub-headed? - Rei emerges, yawning.

“Morning,” he mumbles.

“Papa Rei!” Miri collides into his legs, still whispering - thankfully. “Are you coming too? Please, please!”

“Er… Sure,” he runs a hand through his hair in an attempt to flatten it and shuffles over to the door, Miri holding onto his leg the whole way. “Why are we whispering?”

“Me and Kitty are mice - squeak-squeak!” She squeals, shoving her shoes onto her feet. “You try, Papa Rei.”

“Er…” He looks at Miri and then you – you give what you hope is an encouraging smile.

“Squeak.”

Picking up Miri yesterday was odd – you’d ignore the mothers’ stares and hushed comments of, “Is she the mistress?” And “No, she’s got to be the nanny”, when they’d seen you waiting for Miri to pack her belongings, chatting politely with Ms Anna. You hadn’t quite made it through stutter-free, but the daycare teacher’s kind eyes and smile hadn’t put you so on edge, at least.

It’s even weirder being here with Rei. Miri is holding both yours and Rei’s hands as you approach the daycare and the chatter appears to cease entirely as soon as you step foot into the playground. Seeing Rei at morning drop-off must be a rare occurrence as the mothers soon descend, swarming the three of you, saying how nice it was to see him, but where’s Kazuki?

“Uh…” Rei trailed off, looking a little like a deer caught in headlights at the women’s questioning.

“Z-Z-Zuki’s f-fine.” The eyes all turn to you and you regret opening your mouth, but you can see they’re after more detail. “H-he’s j-just h-h-hav-having a l-lie-in.” You can deal with Kazuki, Rei and Miri looking at you, but the gaggle of women is a little too much and your stutter got progressively worse the more you tried to get through the sentence. You want the floor to swallow you up.

There are some raised eyebrows and side glances, but suddenly – thankfully - Rei’s arm is around your shoulders and he navigates the three of you a way out through the crowd. “Excuse us.” He grunts. They all share a glance before they’re staring down at their phones, texting furiously. Rei drops his arm as soon as you’re clear and you immediately miss its reassuring presence. Miri tugs at your arm, speedwalking over to Ms Anna. Rei falls behind for a second and a mother jumps at the opportunity, grabbing hold of him by his arm.

“Rei, it’s so lovely to see you here. Kazuki tells us how busy you are. I’m Asahi’s mother, I’m sure Miri’s told you all about her!” She giggles. The name vaguely rings a bell in Rei’s head – something about Asahi being quite bossy.

“Uh-huh,” Rei tries to politely shrug his arm out of her grip to follow you and Miri but she holds firm. “And I take that sweet girl is your nanny! I hope you don’t mind me saying this – and I’m sure she’s nice - but I couldn’t help but notice that nasty stutter. You do need to be careful around this age, exposing Miri to something like that could hamper her educational development, you know? And she could replicate the behaviour around my Asahi, they’re just so easily influenced at this age…”

Rei is done with being polite and shakes his arm free with force. “Shut up.”

“Excuse me?” Her face screams disbelief.

Rei is ready to repeat himself, but doubt swirls in his mind. Kazuki probably would agree, but he could also be mad if he finds out Rei’s made an enemy with one of the daycare moms… He bites his tongue and rephrases.

“I said, she’s not the nanny. And her stutter is fine.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. As I said, she seems very sweet. I just thought…”

“I know.” Rei grits his teeth. “Thank you.” And then he strides over to where you and Miri are chatting to Ms Anna at the door, waiting for you.

“E-everything okay?” You ask.

“Mm.”

After Miri is signed in and waves you both goodbye, Rei’s arm is back around your shoulders and speed walks the both of you through the crowd with a scowl across his face – warning everyone to steer clear. You’re thankful – there’s probably not a job in public speaking for you in the future.

“You okay?” He checks in as you head up the street, back towards the apartment.

“Y-yeah. I f-feel a little s-silly that I pa-panicked.”

“They kind of scare me too, to be honest.”

You laugh a little at that. You can’t imagine much scaring Rei.

His arm is still around your shoulders and it feels comforting as you walk. You think about returning the gesture, slipping your own arm around his waist when suddenly a ringtone blares out and his arm leaves your shoulders to retrieve his phone from his pocket. Too late. “It’s Kazuki.”

He answers without a word.

“Where are you?” You can hear Kazuki’s tired voice echo through the speaker. You don’t want to eavesdrop but the volume makes it impossible.

“I’m with Kitty – Miri wanted us both to take her to daycare.”

“Oh, did she?” A pause. “Ohhhh, you sly dog.” What on earth does that mean?

“Huh?” Rei seems as clueless as you.

“Hey, buddy, why don’t you both swing by and see Kyu? You can pick up the payment for yesterday and have a drink.”

“Er…” He pulls the phone away from his face. “Do you mind if we pop in to see Kyu?”

“No.” You shake your head. “S-sounds nice.” You haven’t met the man who’s apparently researching your past yet. Kazuki had taken photos of you on his phone to show him previously for his research.

“Okay. We’ll go.”

“Great! And, er, no need to rush back, if you get what I mean. Bye!”

The phone beeps, signaling the end of the call and Rei pulls it back from his face, looking bemused. He doesn’t get what Kazuki means.

“Is Z-Zuki okay?”

“He’s being weird.” He sticks his hands back in his pocket. “We’ll head this way, then. You’ll like the walk along the river bank.”

You reach the café Yadorigi and Rei holds the door open for you. There’s a tall gentleman dressed in black behind the counter, drying off a cup as you enter. He has brown hair and glasses and a mildly surprised look as you enter with Rei. Looking around briefly, it seems you’re currently his only customers at this early hour.

“Well, it’s rare I see you out of the apartment, Rei. And this must be the famous Kitty.” He smiles warmly at you, gesturing for you both to take a seat at the counter.

“H-hi.” You smile back, sitting down on a stool. “It’s nice t-to meet y-you.”

“You too. I do hope Kazuki and Rei are treating you well.”

“V-very well, thank y-you.” There’s something about Kyu that’s calming - almost.

“Good.” He turns to Rei. “Good work yesterday. Here for your payment?”

Rei nods and Kyu pulls open a drawer. He removes two brown envelopes and slides them over and Rei tucks them into his jacket pocket. You don’t know what the job exactly entailed of – of course you’d heard some of the preparations but you’d tried not to eavesdrop. It could’ve been surveillance, blackmail, reconnaissance… It could’ve been assassination. If you hadn’t seen them in action for yourself, would you really think the two men who had taken you in were hitmen of all things? They were so patient and kind with you from the get-go. They don’t match the stereotype of people you’d been with living with in the shady underworld the past few years – you couldn’t imagine any of his men returning home to cook, clean, do laundry and lovingly tuck a child into bed. Come to think of it, you weren’t sure any of the men even had homes. The house began to seem more and more a compound towards the end as his gang grew until, that is, he was deemed too greedy and had to be eliminated from the competition.

Kazuki and Rei are in a bad business, but they saved you from a miserable, silenced existence. And, from your limited knowledge of their past hits – you’d heard the story of how they came to meet Miri last Christmas – the people they kill are not angels themselves… Kazuki has let you in a little on his past, unprompted, abandoned by his parents, getting by on the streets with cons and grifts. You hadn’t asked Rei. It doesn’t seem proper to ask when you can’t relay anything. You’re aware of the Suwa empire from dinner discussions at the house, he had started to speak his plans to transcend the Organization, rumours of the Suwa heir leaving the nest, exposing a vulnerability… All whilst you had your head bowed down, hands clasped, awaiting his instructions.

“Kitty?” Rei’s hand is on your arm and you realise you’ve done it again – got tied up in your thoughts and ignored a question.

“S-sorry, I was m-m-miles away.”

“That’s okay.” It’s Kyu this time. “I just asked if there was something you’d like to drink.”

“Oh. Erm…” There’s no menu that you can see, but there’s a familiar scent, sparking something in your brain at the fact you have choice. “Any t-type of c-coffee, really.”

Rei’s eyes widen at that – besides the cocoa, you’d never really partaken in hot drinks back at the apartment, always going for water.

“I didn’t know you liked coffee.”

You smile, sheepishly. “I’m s-still trying t-to work out w-w-what I like too.”

Kyu begins to grind some coffee beans. “So, you really remember nothing of your life before Aktomi?”

Your stomach flips at the name you refuse to use - you squeeze your nails into your palms before you shake your head. “S-sometimes t-there’s a flash of s-something, b-b-but nothing con-concrete. I j-just remember the h-house and him.”

“It could be your brain protecting itself from trauma.” Rei states and Kyu gives him a quizzical look. “Or that’s what I read online.”

That makes you feel uneasy. If your brain was keeping things locked away from before the house – the house in which you were beaten, starved, forced to live in servitude to a mafia boss – what on earth were you not wanting to remember from your home life?

“Could be amnesia from a head injury too.” Kyu comments as he takes the freshly ground coffee over to an espresso machine. “Kazuki said you stopped talking so Aktomi would stop hitting you in the face?”

Rei tenses at that besides you.

You wished Kyu would stop saying his name, but you don’t feel confident enough to voice your discomfort. “I w-was a little st-stubborn, until I-I wasn’t.” Beaten into the good, submissive maid you became.

Kyu notes the deepening scowl on Rei’s face and thinks perhaps he should move the conversation on. “Without sounding too big-headed, my contacts and research are usually spot-on, but I’ve reached a dead end at the moment. I’m still surprised you didn’t show up on anything when the hit was organized. If you remember anything, please get in touch. I’m sure you must be eager to return to your old life after so long away.”

You don’t miss the trace of suspicion in his tone, but you try not to take offence. He must have to be naturally suspicious in his line of work, you reason. You wouldn’t describe yourself as eager at all - you quite like the life you’ve found yourself in at the moment. Being with Rei, Kazuki and Miri makes you feel safe, relaxed, content – all feelings you haven’t had in a long while. Though, you have to admit, when Kyu mentions your old life, you can’t help but wonder if the three of them miss their old life, without you, your lack of history, your stutter and your taking up Rei’s bedroom.

“I w-will.” You smile politely, as he begins to froth some milk.

“Can we sit in a booth?” Rei asks, abruptly.

“Why, tired of me already?” Kyu teases. “Go for it. I’ll bring these over.”

Rei nods and gets up from his seat, heading towards the booth in the back right-hand corner of the establishment. You slide into the seat and he sits opposite, forcing a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. You can tell he wants to say something but he’s holding back and you’re not one to talk, so you settle into a companiable silence as Kyu finishes making your drinks. He comes over with a fruity orange concoction for Rei and a coffee for you.

“Flat white.” Kyu serves with a smile.

“T-thanks.”

“How much do we owe you?” Rei asks, sullenly.

“For the young lady’s first visit – on the house.” He waves off, returning to behind the bar.

Rei takes a long sip through a straw, looks over his shoulder to see Kyu cleaning the counter and then leans forward to you, shoulders sagging with the release of tension. ”I didn’t like his tone.”

“H-he’s just d-doing his job.” You try to shrug it off. Kazuki’s told you before that he and Rei have worked with Kyu for years and you don’t want to cause a fuss. You take a sip of the flat white. “Mm. I d-do like c-coffee!”

Rei can’t help but smile at that.

As you enjoy your drinks, the dark-haired man pulls his phone out of his pocket and shows you a game he downloaded to pass the time on the car ride yesterday. The bell jingles to signal the arrival of another customer and a tall, a receding black hairline man enters and looks around. He’s dressed in all black and is bulky – he wouldn’t have looked out of place at the house. His eyes seem unnaturally wide and protrude out of his skull almost, his face expressionless. It’s unnerving. You cast your eyes back down to the table and the phone screen, but the hairs standing up on the back of your neck suggest he’s staring at you. There’s a hushed conversation between the mysterious man and Kyu, before you hear a pen click twice and he vacates.

Weird.

After you finish your drinks and say goodbye to Kyu, you walk back along the riverbank. It’s peaceful and you’re content in Rei’s company. You like talking to him, of course, but silence seems different with him. With Miri, conversation is constant and you don’t blame her, she’s an inquisitive child who says everything and anything that comes to mind. With Kazuki, well, he’s just being sweet and trying to improve your confidence, especially after the grocery store incident. You can tell he worries you might regress, so he tries to keep the conversation flowing at all times. But with Rei, it all just feels different. He goes at your pace, he doesn’t speak just to fill the void, but everything he seems to say is considered. And those fleeting touches the two of you have had lately…

You don’t know what it is – it could be the warmth of the sun on your skin, the relaxing sound of the water, the gentle breeze, the buzz of the caffeine, the man himself - but whatever it is, it gives you a surge of courage and without a second thought you grab his hand.

As soon as you touch his fingers, the panic springs up. You’ve misread the situation, you’ve overstepped the mark… but, before you can pull away, his fingers deftly intertwine with yours and the panic quells instantaneously, as if it was never there in the first place.

Looking at your laced hands, you glance up at Rei, feeling your cheeks flush. There’s a dreamy smile on his face as you continue the walk back to the apartment in silence.

[YourName] and Rei actually met through Kazuki!!!

Kazuki met [YourName] through his ex sister-in-law, before she went and traveled.

Kazuki didn't think [YourName] and Rei would be more than acquaintances, that's until Miri had come around.

[YourName] nannies on the side of baking, so having [YourName] around as Miri's mother figure helped out a ton

And she helped create a schedule for Rei and Miri to follow when it came to the game console!

Eventually those long nights turned into dinner late at Kazuki and Rei's and sometimes Kazuki would step out to collect a job for him and Rei-

So it would just be Rei and [YourName].

[YourName] learned to open up to Rei, realizing he wasn't going to be spilling any information to anyone any time soon.

Rei learns that despite [YourName]'s bubbly personality and her motherly attitude- she actually smokes, been divorced, and had a miscarriage.

She picked up smoking as a way of coping from her miscarriage which led to her divorce.

So, to start bonding, Rei offered to sit outside on the balcony and smoke with you- and that led to the two absolutely doing a deep dive on each other.

Of course, Rei left out important details like being the son of the man who puts out a lot of hits in Japan and tends to a whole community of people like that.

After a while, Kazuki helps [YourName] get with Rei and at first he didn't expect things to even last a week-

But then he got to witness [YourName] showing Rei that it is okay to be in love and that it is okay to show random acts of love.

Kazuki finally got to see Rei smile without having to force Miri into his face when Rei looks at his phone when [YourName] text.

His favorite compromise that Kazuki has seen is [YourName] sleeping in the bathtub with Rei.

Those early mornings, Kazuki doesn't expect to see [YourName] in the tub with him- but there she is! Sleeping away on Rei.

Rei also picked up the habit of asking if everyone was alright or thanking Kazuki for the meal.

Been binge watching Black mirror and I've got like half the mind to make an AI oc, probably yandere or maybe even an AI character from any anime (for whatever reason, yandere AI nanny/mom robot Rei Todoroki has come to my mind like literally as im typing this and hehe im loving the horrors she would inflict on reader and control her life- maybe something like AI Rei is a nanny bot that is hired by your family to help around the house and with you of course. She develops maternal instinct for you, and thus platonic yandere Rei is born. And since AI Rei is able to control the house technology, she can obviously control your personal electronics as well, including your phone and laptop, not even hesitating to look through your emails and messages, and if she sees you spending too much time with friends or with an s/o, she can do a lot of stuff. Stuff like- hacking into your/your friends accounts to ghost you/them, or rat you to your parents about you being exposed to dangers of the internet or some shit. AI Rei may not have many feelings, but she can still feel jealous, her eyes actually turn green with envy. Years pass by and Rei has practically raised you, but now better models have come and your parents want to upgrade to a newer version of Rei. But AI Rei does not like the idea of being apart from you, so she kills your parents and then holds you hostage in your own home.)

AU where Inko is the personal Mary Poppins for Todoroki family

1. This is a Dad for One AU where All for One got in a fight with All Might earlier in canon AND his organization was even more devastated. While he was unconscious, the safeguards he set up to send money to his family failed. Inko had to get a job.

2. Because of AFO's early arrest, he never kidnapped Touya after he burned himself. Touya manifested a phoenix ability and regenerated after burning to ashes, surviving and returning to his family. However nothing got better as Enji was even more desperate to stop his oldest son from training and Touya even more convinced he could become a hero and also pull off the phoenix power again if his father would just give him a chance.

3. After Rei burned Shouto and got sent to the hospital, Enji sought out a nanny. However, the Todoroki children drove off everyone he hired. Touya's just a total brat. Fuyumi has a notion in her head that her mother will come back if she can get rid of all the nannies, and on some level resents them for stealing her perceived job. Natsuo got discriminated against by several caretakers for being quirkless, so he joined in. Shouto is the only good kid.

4. Inko got hired because her husband is listed as having a fire quirk and her son is quirkless, so Enji hoped she'd be able to handle his children's unique needs. He also thinks he can use her economic vulnerability to keep her quiet about anything that happens in his house, but he underestimates her. This Inko is a former villain fully aware of his husband's business. Despite her outwardly sweet demeanor, she used to be an assassin with a kill count in the triple digits. She easily sidesteps every prank the children try to pull on her and destroys every trap they send against her with a smile. Touya is convinced she might be a supernatural creature.

5. Shouto is happy because he just wanted a mom who wouldn’t pour boiling water on his face. This boy’s standards are so low that it’s pathetic his family couldn’t meet them.

6. Izuku moves into the house along with Inko and quickly befriends Shouto. Natsuo bonds with Izuku over them both being quirkless. Izuku hates how hard Endeavor trains Shouto and goes to his mom for help.

7. Inko absolutely verbally eviscerates Endeavor for his lousy training plan that is likely to cripple Shouto or burn him out, then presents a much better training plan. She also scolds Endeavor for giving up on his other two children. She presents a list of creative ways to use Fuyumi's ice quirk to kill, including blood-bending and freezing people's blood in their veins. According to her, why can't Natsuo become a hero even if he's quirkless? Finally, she has a plan for Touya to slowly train his body to adapt to his quirk. By this point Touya has been converted to an Inko fan.

8. But Inko isn't done yet. She also chews Endeavor out for giving up too easily on defeating All Might, then presents him with a detailed list of All Might's weaknesses that she obtained from her husband. (Izuku is appalled at this All Might slander, but Inko is not the biggest fan of the hero who maimed her beloved husband.) Endeavor is convinced and decides to re-devote himself to becoming number one. He allows Inko to train his children instead while he focuses on his own career.

9. Inko takes over training all the Todoroki children into unstoppable badasses. They might or might not become heroes, but no one will ever mess with them. She includes Izuku, training him to become a future quirkless hero. In this AU, Inko is more willing to teach Izuku to fight because they no longer have All for One's protection so she believes he needs to defend himself. Plus her husband failed to look out for them so he doesn't get a say. With Endeavor's backing, Izuku has a real chance at becoming a quirkless hero.

10. Izuku's totally going to get One for All, though. Natsuo can become the first quirkless hero.
