For the time anyway. They wouldn't have been unusual fifty years before. Common, a hundred years before. But in the nineties when I was having babies, they were a bit strange. All Biblical.
Joshua Michael, my eldest. Named after Jesus. Joshua being the more common pronunciation of the Greek, Jesus.
Nathanial Lee, with the spelling done that way on purpose. One of Jesus ' early disciples.
Benjamin William Jacob. He would have been just Benjamin Jacob had my beloved great-uncle hadn't have passed when I was carrying him. My Uncle Bill. He was to be my last, you see. But men plan and God laughs.
Finally, Seth Jordan. He was born after I suffered three loses, including a son delivered dead at almost five months, Elijah Bruce. Seth means God grants and the first Seth was named this after He granted Adam and Eve another son after the whole Cain and Abel situation.
As a wonderfully ironic footnote, Seth and his lady, Tristan, named their son, Elijah. Tristan picked it out before she knew of Seth's lost brother.
Life is wonderful, isn't it.
Happy Mother's Day. 🌻💐🌻💐

I post so many pics of the big guy, but I don't think I've really gone into his background too much...and I was in the mood to info dump!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nathanial Alasdair Watt
Age: 37
Nationality: Scottish
As the General of the Commonwealth Minutemen, he has earned a place in the hearts of the people. His kind demeanor and bravery have won him the admiration of many. As a pre-war, decorated war hero, Nate knows a thing or two about combat, leadership, and survival. His reputation precedes him.
Just a bunch of facts and screenies of my boy below the cut 🙌
Tumblr media
Cat Like Reflexes and sense of exploration: At 6ft, he's surprisingly agile on his feet. Growing up in his family's profession (that's still a secret 😏) he needed that upper body strength and found he was more than comfortable being up high. 💪🏻
Tumblr media
Teddy Bear: He comes across as someone not to mess with, but this big lad has a big heart and a big personality that is tested a lot post-war...but when you're General of the Minutemen... whilst simultaneously trying to make sure the other factions don't annihilate each other... well you gotta maintain a sense of humour... so Nate enjoys knowing people find him intimidating, just to watch their faces when he deadpans a somewhat dubious response... oh and he'll never ditch that twirly mustache! (his tats are a form of self expression, but two have meaning. The rose on his neck, with Nora's name...and Shaun's name under his wedding band)
Tumblr media
The Wanderer: The fact that he ended up settling down was a surprise to him as much as it was to everyone who knew him pre-war. Nate grew up on the road, his family traveled all over. Moving to America from Scotland when he was was a young lad of fifteen... leaving homeland was something that took Nate some time to accept and it wasn't until his sister came along two years later that Nate stopped being angry at the world.
Tumblr media
The Sole Survivor: Seventeen years her senior, he was very close to his baby sister Elspeth, and was as much a part of defining the bright young woman she grew up to be. Nate and Nora recognised El needed stability and had a dream of doing more than just tinkering. She had a knack for robotics and fascination for how things work. So they offer her a place to stay whilst she studied in Boston. Losing his best friend and partner in crime is particularly hard on Nate, because El was the only person he could ever truly let his guard down around.
Tumblr media
Atom's Gift: Nate's unphased by a lot of things, and one of those things is radiation. "Sole Survivor" isn't a new moniker to Nate, who's often found himself coming to in wake of destruction. Survivor's guilt is something he's had to endure many times over... and to some extent it makes him reckless... it's difficult to keep a level head in the heat of the moment when you feel like nothing can touch you.
Tumblr media
Protector of Strays: So when he stumbles up a canny looking German Shepherd, he doesn't think twice about letting him tag along. "Dugmeat" helps Nate a lot in the early days out of the Vault, and it is rare you'll see Nate without his hairy shadow (oh and taking in 'strays' does extend to the human variety)
Tumblr media
Nobody is beyond redemption (mostly): Nate's fatal flaw is probably his inibility to say no, and if faced with someone (or a group of someones) whom may be deemed 'unsavoury' or 'a risk' if Nate sees potential, then he's gonna try. So, when Nate meets MacCready, he sees a lot of his younger self... a young guy down on his luck who just needs somebody to give him a chance... it isn't long before the pair bond and Nate truly takes the young scrap under his wing. Being close in ages with his late sister, he's used to dealing with difficultly headstrong individuals... But to be clear, you only get one chance. If you break his trust, don't expect to be given a second chance.
Tumblr media
More than just business partners: When Nate meets Jacob, the stranger who hears his radio broadcast about setting up a new Settlement in his old neighbourhood of Sanctuary Hills with his "ASAM" sensors. Nate decides to humor the guy, and quickly finds himself revisiting feelings he'd spent a great deal of his younger years trying to ignore... and tries to again. But in the Commonwealth, life has a way of reminding you that every moment is precious... Nate takes a chance.
Tumblr media
At a Minute's Notice: A natural leader and protector, the Minutemen reformation was the foundation Nate needed to build upon. With Jake's ASAMs and Nate's influence, more factions emerge in the Commonwealth, and Nate is more than happy to support in any way he can... if there is a uniform that fits, he'll wear it.
Tumblr media
All seeing he is not: Sometimes the world has a way of humbling you and there is nothing more frustrating for this Sole Survivor than having his specs knocked off his face in the heat of battle...or having to rummage around in the dirt and debris long after.
Tumblr media
I can't wait to tell you their story

Meditation: How can we know with certainty that Jesus is truly who he claims to be - the Son of God and Savior of the world? Philip was eager to tell his friend Nathaniel (who is also known as Bartholomew in Matthew 10:3 and Luke 6:14) about his decision to be a disciple of Jesus. Philip tried to convince his friend that Jesus was the Messiah, whom Moses and the prophets had foretold would come. Nathanial was very skeptical because he didn't think it was possible for the Messiah to come from Nazareth, a town in Galilee. Nathaniel not only disliked the town of Nazareth, he despised its residents as unworthy Jews. "How could anything good come from such a place?"
Nazareth was at the crossroads of the ancient world where people from different cultures and religions would pass through. Perhaps Nathaniel thought its religious teachers were not orthodox enough in their understanding and interpretation of the law of Moses. Besides, how could the Messiah come from Galilee when the prophets said he would come from Bethlehem of Judaea? Aren't we all a bit like Nathaniel? We are skeptical when someone tries to convince us of the truth until we can comprehend it for ourselves.
A skeptical but earnest search for God's truth
So what kind of proof did Philip offer to Nathanael? Rather than argue with his friend, Philip took the wiser strategy of inviting Nathanael to "come and see" for himself who this Jesus claimed to be. Clever arguments rarely win people to the Gospel - but an encounter with the person of Jesus Christ can change one's life forever. When people are receptive to the word of Christ and when they see his love in action, the Lord Jesus himself, through the power of the Holy Spirit, touches their hearts and opens their minds to recognize that he truly is the Son of God who reveals the Father's love and truth to us.
When Philip brought Nathanael to Jesus, Jesus did something which only God could do! He opened Nathanael's heart and his innermost thoughts and desires to God's revelation. Jesus called Nathanael a true "Israelite in whom there is no guile." God had chosen Jacob, who was given the name Israel, over his twin brother Essau, because Jacob was a man of faith, without guile or cunning like Essau (Genesis 25:27). Nathanael, like Jacob, hungered for God and believed in God's promises. Nathanael knew the Scriptures. He had read the law and the prophets. And like Jacob he was waiting for the fulfillment of God's promises to his people Israel. Nathanael was an earnest seeker of God. He not only sought to grow in understanding of God's word, but he sought an intimate personal relationship with God as well. That is why he was willing to meet Jesus, to see if perhaps this miracle worker from Galilee might be the long-awaited Messiah and Savior.
God's word brings blessing and refreshment for those who receive it
What is the significance of Jesus' revelation of seeing Nathanael "under the fig tree"? For the people of Israel, the fig tree was a symbol of God's peace and blessing (1 Kings 4:24b-25, Micah 4:4). It provided shade from the midday sun and a cool refreshing place to retreat, pray, and reflect on God's word. Rabbis often gathered their disciples under the shade of the fig tree to teach them the wisdom and revelation of God's word in the Scriptures. The rabbis had an expression for comparing the fig tree to being nourished with God's word in Scripture, "He who tends the fig tree will eat its fruit."
Jesus offers the greatest gift possible - peace and friendship with God
It is very likely that Nathanael had been thinking about God's word while sitting "under his fig tree" and reflecting on God's promise to send a Messiah King who would free his people from sin and oppression and usher in God's kingdom of righteousness and peace for the whole world. Perhaps Nathanael dozed off for a midday nap and dreamt of God's kingdom like Jacob had dreamt when God gave him a vision of a great ladder which united earth with heaven (see Genesis 28:12-17). Through the gift of revelation Nathanael recognized that Jesus was truly the Messiah, the everlasting "Son of God and King of Israel" (John 1:49). The Lord Jesus offered Nathanael the greatest gift of all - the gift of friendship with God and the offer of free access to God's throne in heaven.
Jesus promises that we will dwell with the living God
What does Jesus mean when he says "you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man"? One of the most remarkable revelations recorded in the Bible is the dream of Jacob (Genesis 28:12-17). God had opened a door for Jacob that brought him and his people into a new relationship with the living God. In Jacob's dream God revealed his angelic host and showed him the very throne of heaven and promised Jacob that he and his descendants would dwell with the living God.
Jesus, the Son of God, unites earth and heaven in himself
Jesus' response to Nathanael's new faith in accepting Jesus as the Messiah is the promise that Jesus himself will open the way for free access to the very throne of God in heaven. Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promise to Jacob and his descendants - he is the way to the Father in heaven and the true "ladder (or stairway) which unites earth with heaven." In Jesus' incarnation, the divine Son of God taking on human flesh for our sake, we see the union of heaven and earth - God making his dwelling with us and bringing us into the heavenly reality of his kingdom through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus gives us free access to God's presence
Jesus' death on the cross, where he defeated sin and won new life for us through his resurrection, opens the way for each of us to come into a new relationship with God as his adopted sons and daughters. The Lord Jesus opens the way for each one of us to "ascend to heaven" and to bring "heaven to earth" in the daily circumstances of our lives. God's kingdom is present in those who seek him and who strive to do his will. Through the gift of faith God opens a door for each one of us to the heavenly reality of his kingdom. Do you see with the "eyes of faith" what the Lord Jesus has done for us?
"Heavenly Father, through your Son Jesus Christ, you have opened the way to heaven for each one of us. As you personally revealed yourself to your beloved patriarchs and apostles, so reveal yourself to me that I may recognize your presence with me and know the power of your kingdom at work in my life. May I always find joy and peace in your presence and never lose sight of your everlasting kingdom."
The following reflection is from One Bread, One Body courtesy of Presentation Ministries © 2023.
miracle of miracles
“That we have passed from death to life we know because we love the brothers. The man who does not love is among the living dead.” —1 John 3:14
Throughout Advent, the Lord through His Word has promised us a miraculous Christmas. The blind would see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, and the dumb speak. Many of us may not have experienced such dramatic miracles this Christmas season.
Nonetheless, there’s another miracle that is even more dramatic and more important: the miracle of unconditional love, love for enemies, love for the unlovable. This is the ultimate miracle of the Christian life and of Christmas. When we are willing to lay down our lives in love (1 Jn 3:16) for prejudiced individuals, traitors, and murderers, we truly have received the miracle of Christmas, Calvary, and Christ. This proves we are sons and daughters of the heavenly Father (Mt 5:43-45) and proves we have had the real Christmas, because no one but the Father’s children can forgive and love the unlovable.
Think of your enemy or the person that has hurt you the most. Ask the Lord for His crucified love for that person to flow through you. Open your Christmas present of unconditional love.
Prayer:  Jesus, may I respond to hate with love as You do.
Promise:  “I solemnly assure you, you shall see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” —Jn 1:51
Praise:  St. John Neumann was born in what is now the Czech Republic. No additional priests were needed in his diocese, so he emigrated to New York. Sixteen days after arriving he was ordained!

wholesome brothers tormenting each other Deacon and MacCready is great, it should be its own genre
Woo! My first ask! Thank you! 😁
I've been working on beefing up my fic and came up with a little idea I was working on when this ask appeared...and it just happens to involve some Deacon humor!
I'm also excited about the whole Mac and Deacon backstory I'm penning! It's hella cute!
Anyhoo, have some wholesome brotherly banter!
Mac becomes the Mayor of Sanctuary. The Boss entrusted Deeks to write the contract.
Here's a wee excerpt from the chapter.
Nate withdraws a folded envelope from his breast pocket and slides it toward him. MacCready eyes the letter skeptically, reaching for it slowly. A tinge of unease creeps into his chest as he breaks the seal, unfolds, and lets his eyes scan the paper. He looks up at Nate, mouth half-agape.
“Wanted to make it official, lad, you sign that, and it’s a done deal.”
“200 caps a fortnight? Boss, that’s a lot of caps.”
“Ach, caps aren’t an issue when you’re the General, lad. The Settlements are doing braw, got some good trade contacts set up in Bunker Hill.”
His eyes return to the paper in his hands, reading through the rest. Deacon's rules get a smirk tugging at his mouth. He’d know that tone anywhere. His gaze falls on the two signatures at the bottom, Sturges and Jake? He doesn’t know whether to be flattered or surprised they signed off on this.
“This is ridiculous.”
“A contract is a contract,” Nate smirks.
“12 caps Railroad fee, huh?” MacCready glares at Nate, eyes narrowed. Nate shrugs innocently, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “Deacon knows I’m looking for a reason to shoot him, right?”
“Aye, I did mention that, but he insisted his penmanship was worth the fee.”
This is she 🤣🤣🤣
THE DEAL
This is a deal made on the 12th day of January 2288 between:
Nathanial Alasdair Watt (the Big Boss of the Commonwealth Minutemen),
And
Robert Joseph MacCready (that's you.)
THE JOB
1.1 Boss Watts is making you Lieutenant General of the Minutemen and Mayor of Sanctuary Hills.
1.2 Here's what you gotta do:
Run the show in Sanctuary Hills.
Be the Minutemen's guy in Sanctuary Hills.
Make sure everyone in Sanctuary Hills is safe and good.
Work with other Minutemen teams.
Make Sanctuary Hills a better place to live.
PAYDAY
2 You'll get 200 caps every two weeks, paid on the first and fifteenth day of the month.
ENDING THE DEAL
3. Either of you can end this deal. All you need to do is give a four weeks heads up. (Or one of you gets eaten by a Deathclaw)
RULES
4. This deal follows the rules of the Commonwealth.
No wearing sunglasses indoors (It's just uncool, man.)
Bad hair days are not a valid excuse to dodge duty.
"It's not my job" will be frowned upon.
Remember, taking showers isn't just for the residents.
Keep Dogmeat out of the Brahmin pen (that Brahmin didn't ask for this).
No more than one bottle of whiskey a day. You're Mayor, not a distillery.
- And for Atom's sake, no singing after you've hit that one-bottle limit. We've heard enough off-key renditions of "Butcher Pete."
So, it's all written down here. Sign if you agree.

Summer Days [BMC Deere AU]
Hello hello hello, my fellow Be More Chill fans! Today, I have come to present you with an AU created by @puglebug and I.
We present to you, The Summer Days AU!
The Summer Days AU starts in the summer between eigth grade and freshman year. Jake, a rambunctious pre-pubescent teenager, is in a race with a Junior, when he spots a rather cute boy sitting on a bench whilst reading a book. They share a gaze, before Jake trips over a rock, and gets a face full of mud.
That boy that he spotted was Jeremiah Heere, a sweet British boy who transferred to the US, clad in a cute sweater, and glasses that didn’t seem to fit him just right.
It only escalates from there, as the two fall into young love. They are forced to hide it from their peers and their parents. It’s a story oozing with angst and suspense, yet filled with so much fluff and adorableness.
Now, for a rundown of the characters.
- Jacob Clayton Dillinger:
• He learns that he’s very very gay.
• He loves Jeremy with all his heart, and would do anything for him.
• Puberty hits him like a truck. He grows at least three inches height wise, now resting at a nice 6’ tall. He also became buffer, and gained a tiny stubble. Finally, his voice dropped pretty low.
• Everybody assumed that he was straight.
• He’s on the autism spectrum, and tends to have sensory attacks quite often. Jeremy helps to calm him down from those, as he carries a small kit around with anything needed.
• He has a mild depression disorder.
• Jeremy is the only one that could calm him down from anything and everything.
• His parents are the worst.
• He’s fluent in three languages! (English, French, Russian.)
- Jeremiah Nathanial Heere:
• A sweet ace biromantic boy.
• He loves Jake so much, and it’s so obvious that he does.
• He loves wearing sweaters and cardigans, and hates cursing usually.
• Puberty didn’t affect him much. He grew about an inch in height, leaving him at 5’8”. His voice only dropped a small bit, but he obtained a lot of acne.
• He suffers from an anxiety disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), to be specific.
• He also sometimes gets sensory attacks because of his anxiety.
• He’s a total bookworm! Fantasy is his favorite genre.
• His Mom is still off in England somewhere, and his Dad basically became a bum.
• He still has a trace of an English accent, and speaks Russian!
• He can play three instruments! (Piano, Violin, Ukulele.)
- Brooklyn Lohst:
• The first lesbian.
• She has two moms, who are POC, and probably the best parents in their small down.
• She’s a seamstress!
• She’s the first Mom Friend [TM] too.
• She’ll get really pissed if somebody hurts her friends or family.
• She used to like Chloe.
• She really really likes Chrissy now, though.
- Christine Canigula:
• Lesbian number two.
• She’s still got ADD!
• And she’ll always be obsessed with theatre.
• The second Mom Friend [TM].
• She doesn’t like when people mess with her friends, it gets her mad.
• She really likes Brooke.
- Michael Mell:
• “Straight”.
• A bit of an asshole.
• Usually a funny dude. His main goal was to make the entire world happy.
• He outed Jake to Chloe, which started the whole rumor.
• Wears contacts, not glasses.
• Drunkenly confessed to Jake once.
- Chloe Valentine:
• “Straight”.
• A mythic bitch.
• Jake’s kindergarten girlfriend.
• Tends to get jealous.
• Outed Jake to the whole school, and spread the rumors.
• Has repressed feelings for Brooke.
- Jennifer Rolan:
• The final lesbian.
• Gossip girl whom we love.
• Actually a really really nice person.
• Has a working gaydar.
- Richard Goranski:
• Also “Straight”.
• He’s got a lot of internalized biphobia.
• He grows more confident in sophomore year, and is able to stand up to Jake because he believes that he and Jeremy are disgusting.
• He’s got the red streak.
- Dustin Kropp:
• Undeniably pan.
• Really chill and laid back.
• Starts a garage band.
• Plays guitar and the drums!
• Loves wearing snapbacks.
- Madeline Bouve:
• A beautiful trans woman!
• Very sweet and kindhearted.
• Actually from France! Jake was her translator for a while.
• She’s also a bookworm, and wants to teach Jeremy French.
• Really loves the color yellow, and really loves converse.
The AU is solely based around Deere, which is Jake x Jeremy, but other ships are definitely included, much like Play Ride, or Christine x Brooke.
Every character has an importance in the AU, they’re there for a reason. Even though it may not seem like it too much, Everyone supplies liable plot to the story, and idea.
So, I invite you to use this AU, for any of the Deere shippers who do art, or writing, or even music. The official tag will be #summer days au. And I’ll leave you with the playlist created by @puglebug.
Listen here!

TWN: Witchers
So! I was minding my own business a few nights ago, playing a game on my phone, when I thought to look up the names of the actors who played witchers in TWN season two. My train of thought was as follows: "Oh, TWN didn't give us much personality for many of the witchers, maybe the actors that played them have had other, similar roles I that actually had personality, which I can use as a basis for their witcher’s personality. Alternately, I could stalk their social media so see what kind of a person they are." Lo and behold, IMDb had only officially credited the actors who had been credited by Netflix in the show. Said actors, the witchers they acted as, and their Instagram account handles are as follows:
Basil Eidenbenz - Eskel (basil.eidenbenz)
Paul Bullion - Lambert (paulbullion)
Yasen Atour - Coën (yasenatour)
Nathanial Jacobs - Everard (n.amosjay)
Jota Castellano - Gwain/Gawain (jota.castellano)
Chuey Okoye - Merek (chueyokoye)
Kim Bodina - Vesemir (doesn’t have one)
Henry Cavill - Geralt (henrycavill)
Now, that's all well and good, but in the wide shot in S2E2 where almost all witchers can be seen in one frame (here's a link to a tweet that has said picture, and some close-ups), we can see eleven (11) total witchers, and Eskel, who barges in right after said wide shot, makes a total of twelve (12) Netflix-canonical witchers. Didn’t Geralt say that there were 20 of them, when he last counted? What about the other 8 TWN? Turn on your location, I just wanna talk —
Speaking of Netflix-canonical facts, I figured refreshing my memory of TWN's page on the witchers who died in their sleep (Everard, Gawain (spelling discrepancy), Merek) couldn't hurt. Disappointingly, said page revealed no other information about said witchers.
So I went back to IMDb and saw that on the full list of credits, two more actors are credited:
Joel Adrian - Hemrik (Instagram, S2 wrap post)
Max Kraus - Tolbert (Instagram, Instagram post about 'The Good Part' of working on TWN (the few shots of using google maps to get to what i can only assume is the set is a Mood))
They're both uncredited for four (4) episodes, which is HALF THE SEASON. I am EXTREMELY angry about this. What the fuck.
Up to 10 named witchers, yaaay.
The tweet I linked to of the wide shot with almost all witchers visible in it gave the remaining two witchers the names of Diever and Vartok. However, google is unhelpful, as is instagram. And yet I persisted.
I swear to goodness I waded through IMDb for at least an hour trying to find names of stunt performers who were in both S2E2 (Kaer Morhen) and S2E8 (Family, in which there was a big battle at KM), but my search was unfruitful. Desperate, I went to Instagram.
Now I’d like to rant here a moment about how I Do Not Like Instagram. It’s hosted by facebook — sorry, “Meta” — and on the iOS app, you have to hit the screen Six Different Times to get to posts you’ve liked. That’s at least four times too many, in my opinion. So this was unfamiliar territory for me. I thought I’d be able to use IG’s search function, and it would work, and I’d easily find the actors’ names and wash my hands of the whole thing.
So you can imagine my disappointment when IG’s search function failed me.
Nevertheless, I stomped through the metaphorical swamp of IG, and I have emerged successful.
Just so we're all on the same page, I was trying to find the actors/stunt doubles who played the witchers labeled Diever and Vartok in the wide shot. Any sort of canonical confirmation. Their names would be nice, but not necessary. From the other images in that tweet, I was looking for an Asian man and a white guy with a beard. Can't be too hard, right?
lol NOPE
For those curious, my actions were as follows:
Jota Castellano has a picture on IG of him and five other witchers. (I’d post the pic here, but I’m on mobile, and I need to sleep but I need to finish this post more, let me live)
In the description of said photo, he tags all the TWN-canon witchers. #Vartok gets you literally nine results, so I decided to look under #Diever.
Before perusing said tag, I decided to go in reverse chronological order using the “Recent” tab, as opposed to the “Top” tab.
Y’all. I don’t think I can properly express the feeling of excitement that overtook me when I saw what I can only guess is a character poster for an Asian witcher. I was honestly about to jump out of bed, but I resisted and clicked on it.
Lo and behold, I’d like to introduce y’all to Nicolas Wang, who played Diever in TWN.
Since Nicolas Wang seems to care about giving proper credit, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he tagged a handle I was unfamiliar with.
Meet Lachlan Parkinson (edit: this used to say 'Peterson', I was wrong, his last name is Parkinson), who played Vartok in TWN. As of the time I’m posting this, their most recent IG post is of Peterson’s eyes blacked out with black veins around them, similar to the effect we saw on Cavill’s face when Geralt took whatever potion he took in I think S1.
So far as I can tell, neither of them has been credited on IMDb or in the Netflix credits. I don’t know if that was a stipulation in their contracts, but here we are: all twelve TWN witchers have names and actors.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk, I guess?
