nah, dont lose hope for tif3 over the conduit animation. sure some of the lengths people have gone to find the number 3 have been a little unhinged but the unix timestamps in the apex blog are essentially full confirmation that a new respawn game in the titanfall universe is coming soonish. they wouldn't cryptically point to game release dates or start maintaining tif2 just for a new season of apex, especially when they didnt do anything like that for the release of valkyrie, even though the state of tif2 was a much bigger subject back then. if anything, stuff like conduit and the reaper in the recent animation make me even more hopeful cause they're probably trying to get apex players interested in titanfall for Upcoming Game That We Shall Not Jinx By Calling It Titanfall 3™

a lot of good reads only a few bad ones.... i'm officially giving up on eric larocca i just cannot get into his work it is so overhyped which i think is part of the problem, both books i've read from them have been hugely disappointing.... i shudder at your touch was also really disappointing and really fucking dull, with a title like that i was really expecting a lot.... but it was just really boring. also i had some conflicting feelings about whipping girl i just fundamentally disagreed with some of her ideas and found the book to be really shallow (which does make sense considering it's over 15 years old and one of the First) but overall i really enjoyed the essays where she talked about her personal experiences as well as some of the history around the pathologizing of gender and transsexuality, and i can appreciate her work and the book itself and what it meant at the time it was originally published. i'm hoping to read a short history of trans misogyny by jules gill-peterson and who's afraid of gender? by judith butler soonish as well not necessarily to compare but just to absorb More.

into the drowning deep by mira grant - not sure what i'm feeling about this one yet, it's been very repetitive through the first part so i'm hoping things pick up going into part 2.

mrs. s by k. patrick - loving this i'm obsessed with it i'm nearly 50% through. definitely not going to be for everyone, they write in a very clipped style and kind of stream of consciousness as well as no dialogue markers (which i know some people get really pissy about lol)

written in bone by sue black - i'm listening on audiobook and almost done i'm hoping to finish it today while playing stardew. i love an audiobook narrated by the author and she has such a lovely voice. she fucking loves her job and has so much passion for bones and people and their stories sometimes i almost get weepy just listening to her talk about it

also i think i'm going to start crying in h mart next after written in bone... i have the physical as well so i'll probably jump between listening and reading like i did with hijab butch blues. anyways thanks for reading this post and you should tell me if you've read any good books recently 🥺👉👈

Wonka was Just Joking About What he was Going to do With the Black Cloud

And other Jank: A Midjourney Secret Horse preserve.

I've mentioned Midjourney's /describe feature on more than one occasion. It's basically a Midjourney specific clip-interrogator, where you feed it a picture and it spits out four prompts that, in theory, produced something along the lines of what you presented.

Thing is, /describe never really worked.

And that's why I love it. I enjoyed taking random images, /describing them, and then combining the results, which were like this (base image is the wonka meme template above):

1️⃣ wonka was just joking about what he was going to do with the black cloud, in the style of light purple and light orange, stylish costume design, bronzepunk 2️⃣ a man in a purple shirt and hat smiling at a computer screen, in the style of fanciful costume design, whirly, blink-and-you-miss-it detail, gritty elegance, celebrity and pop culture references, glorious, polka dot madness 3️⃣ a beautiful young man who pretends to be waldorf, in the style of purple and bronze, polka dot madness, contemporary candy-coated, clowncore 4️⃣ can you name the top 10 funniest quotes ever?, in the style of light purple and gold, movie still, polka dot madness, groovy, handsome, neo-victorian, character

Beautiful madness across the board, and the results when run (clockwise from top left, 1, 2, 3, 4)-

-are like when Google Translate first hit the scene and it was dumb as rocks, so you could get fun stuff by looping text through multiple translations to get wacky stuff. Eventually all the translators got good enough that stopped working, and no one archived the stupid version.

Which brings us to now, as MJ has launched a better version of /describe. I'll do some posts on its capabilities and improvements soonish (it's brand new), but they told us a month ago it was coming, and I took action.

More than 54,000 prompts worth of action

I can't archive the /describe feature as it was, but I could build a stockpile of prompts before the system changed, and I did. About half of these are ones I /described myself, the other half were gleaned from Midjourney's public creation discords.

These are all fully machine-generated prompts, so they're public domain by definition. All shared on a google sheets file.

Caveats:

They are no longer associated with their base images.

They are organized alphabetically.

As above, what comes out does not always reflect what went in.

Not every prompt generated by Midjourney's bot will run on midjourney without editing as sometimes /describe makes prompts that trigger their prompt censor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If anyone wants to make a text-diffusion AI that generates prompts using the above as a dataset, go for it. Feel free to show off your results in the reblogs as well.

Question about estimating how much of Saezuru is left. I think we had some previous discussions since we know Saezuru is winding to a conclusion soonish. Looking at the previous volumes, there seems to be typically 6-7 chapters. We are now hitting chapter 8 for volume 9 (unless they don't name which chapters are in which volumes? are we still in vol. 9?) so I am thinking this will be the final vol. 9 chapter and we'll have either a, them admitting feelings and reaching a new level of stuff to work through or maybe b, hit another denial wall that pushes them further apart. And with either scenario we enter vol. 10 with the Yakuza plotline picking up and the convoluted feelings also growing in speed (be it overwhelming acceptance or reckless distance). Kind of how vol 5. had them coming together then Y pushing D away and vol 6. having D try to get back into Y's life and the Hirata climax with Y's final exile of D. I still think vol 10 will be the final, but is there any way vol. 9 might be longer and this all somehow wrapped up in like 2 chapters? There's no way, right? I don't know, thoughts? Estimates?

Volume 9 so far consists of ch 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 and now 56. It is possible we can get one more ch for this volume but there has been only 6 chapters so far. I definitely think that there will be at least one more volume left because nothing has been really resolved. Unless Yoneda Kou is determined to finish saezuru up in this volume which would probably require at least 5 or more chapters but it would be rushed compared to everything else in saezuru. I was hoping that Inami would be dealt with in the last few chapters since that would represent them starting to deal with the issues and conflicts they have but unfortunately he will still be around. I am also sure that she would want to move on to other mangas eventually. She has some on hiatus until saezuru is finished since saezuru has become her priority.

Here we go again. I have been back from my business trip for a week now. Slowly recovered from my cold and now I am about to head out for another week - this time on a private vacation. My first real one this year, so... I was looking sooo much forward to it! It is not long and we will not be going far away.

Just a bit away, one or two driving hours into the countryside. Away from my PC. Somehow I would wish to use the freetime for so much stuff on my PC, but that will come afterwards. I have a free week after that as well. So... look forward to being flooded with original Mimi content soonish! Though, I have to finish FF16 as well at some point. So I will utilize that free week so much for catching up on basically anything. At least that's the plan. Unless I catch another cold. Let's hope that will not happen.

Also have some new prompts (thank everyone for that!), still need to catch up on the older ones and maaaaybe I might look into some ask prompts as well. Been rather hesitant with that and only asked other people about their OCs so far. But maybe I will give it a try as well. I am just a bit afraid those asks might pile up in my inbox and I might procastrinate too much.

So, don't worry if you do not see me online as much the coming week. I will be back on Sunday and then I will be back and make it your problem again. No, just joking. Just happy my cold is nearly gone and I am really excited for our trip. We planned some hiking, but considering the constant rain the last week, maybe it will be mostly some chilling in the hotel. Desire, Despair and Updates

OK, drawing is still off the table. My lack of light tolerance won't let me stare at a brightly-lit white surface long enough to be productive. The doctor puts it down to severe dry eyes, but she was running over an hour behind and I did not get much of her time. I got another follow-up next month.

Reading glasses and eye drops are recommended, but distortion from reading glasses is making me a bit sick (it didn't before, I dunno what changed). That thing where my weak eye stopped going off-kilter may be temporary, I hafta heal for at least three months to see if it's going to stay like that. Fingers crossed but I don't feel hopeful.

Patreon is still being stupid. If I would like to confirm I'm over 18 with a nongovernmental ID, they'd like FOUR of them that meet specific requirements and that seems unreasonable. I was abstaining due to not wanting to give a 3rd party my personal data in the first place. If I'd like to stop being 18+, I need to submit my page for approval. It's not worth it to me for three Patrons, two of whom will probably join again if I make a new account. I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with Patreon, but after payments come in (and go out) on December 1st, I'm cashing out and shutting it down. I'll make something new when I'm ready to come back with more content.

I have six more instalments ready to go, and I intend to start posting them without art. I'll put the roughs up for DL on the Patreon tonight, if anyone's interested, and text will go live at some point tomorrow.

I feel like we are early enough in the year that nothing has come out just yet, but we are about to get some new media out soonish.

there’s honestly not a ton this year. when it comes to movies nothing is catching my eye yet but with last year being filled with great movies and the writers strike that’s kinda bound to happen and i think 2025 will have some pretty good stuff. i’m obviously excited for the rest of the silt verses and red valley season 3, and listening to tmagp while it comes out has been really fun. i guess fionna & cake and arcane both get season 2s this year so that should be fun even if they take a while to be released

Starting December 15 is Free Pull Season! for now it will be one solo free pull a day, but usually Free Pull Seasons morph into "one 10 pull a day" and then we get a roulette (which is "randomly between 10 to 100 pulls per day" (though higher pulls are obviously harder to get), and it should be until the end of December

so, if you want to start playing the game, definitely take advantage of the Free Pull Seasons!

(the end-of-year Granblue Festival will also happen soonish, during Christmas iirc, and it usually means getting a lot of major rewards in game right after the event - so you probably want to have an account before the Festival happens)

in term of events this is the planning this month:

Currently ongoing is a story event. It's a nice whodunit if you want to give it a try, otherwise you can skip it to save it into your journal and still get ~600 crystals from it at least (storyevents are limited and will no longer be accessible once the event is over unless you went through it, either by reading or skipping it. Until it gets added to the side stories in a few years at least. thus the advice.)

Exo Ifrit and Proving Grounds are usually for more experienced players, i wouldn't call those really beginner friendly, so you don't really have to worry about those events and can focus on other in-game stuff (though as you can see, free pull season start right in the middle of Proving Grounds)

Note that what i call "Free Pull season" mostly bc it's when we get the Free Pulls is actually "Half Off Campaign": it comes with daily rewards, a boost in xp gain, half-off from AP/EP/quest mats for hosting/starting quests, drops boost, & some more miscellaneous things that mostly matters for experienced players.

(also Holiday season is starting meaning new Holiday limited units are dropping as well if you want to try your luck at those)

Divine Generals Assembly rerun is a story event that already happened in the past but is getting, well, a rerun. Like any story event, if you don't intend to read it just yet, it's good to skip it so you have it in your journal later and still get the rewards from it. It's a laidback/Slice of Life event event about a group of character called the Divine General going to a holiday ressorts to relax.

Last is the Story Event, still a mystery for everyone.

Not announced yet but there should also be a New Year event around New Year when we get there.

Else, the Festival is incoming, which will be a massive stream on a few days, including seiyuu shows and games, news, unit reveals, concert, cosplay shows, and so on. Always worth a watch if invested!

so basically: if you want to start playing granblue as a beginner/casual i'd say, at least make an account before December 15th and log in every day to start getting the daily rewards that will come with the campaign, as well as the free pulls.

There's 3 story events this month, one currently ongoing, if you don't want to miss them.

And two Challenge events that you can skip on as a beginner for now.
