UK Government announces new Nightingale hospitals in Manchester and Sunderland to support NHS.
Tumblr media
The UK government has announced the creation of new NHS Nightingale hospitals in Manchester and Sunderland to support the country's healthcare system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These temporary hospitals will provide additional beds and medical equipment to treat patients. The Manchester Nightingale Hospital will be located at Manchester Central Convention Complex, while the Sunderland Nightingale Hospital will be established at the Sunderland Football Club's Stadium of Light. Both facilities are expected to open in the coming weeks.
The establishment of these new Nightingale hospitals comes as a measure to increase the overall capacity of the National Health Service (NHS) and cope with the growing number of COVID-19 cases. By creating these temporary facilities, the government aims to ensure that there are enough resources available to provide adequate healthcare to those in need. The additional beds and medical equipment will help alleviate the strain on existing hospitals and enable medical professionals to provide effective treatment to all patients.
As the pandemic continues to pose significant challenges to healthcare systems worldwide, the creation of these Nightingale hospitals demonstrates the UK government's commitment to prioritize the well-being and care of its citizens. These facilities serve as temporary solutions to increase the capacity of the NHS and enhance its ability to respond to the ongoing crisis. By setting up these temporary hospitals in Manchester and Sunderland, the government aims to ensure that everyone has access to the necessary medical care during these difficult times.

All Our Yesterdays: Day 171
One year ago today we received one of the first media reports about  a “novel coronavirus" outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
10.01.20. Mail Online:
“UK health officials urge travellers to China for New Year celebrations to wash their hands regularly and see a doctor if they get a cough amid outbreak of mysterious virus.”
Public Health England (PHE) said the “risk to travellers is low" and they were not advising people to change their plans.”  We were given this assurance:
“ The “risk to the UK population is very low. The UK has robust arrangements to manage emerging diseases…"
How wrong they were!
We cannot blame PHE for the spread of the virus in the first months of the pandemic, as no one was initially aware of the deadly seriousness of the disease. However, people should be held to account for claiming the UK had “robust arrangements to manage emerging diseases.”
Only the day before PHE made this  claim,  the BBC carried this headline:
“ 'Misery' for A&E patients facing record-long waits.”
The BBC went on to reveal that almost 100,000 of the ‘sickest patients’ were forced to wait on trolleys for up to 4 hours, in crowded corridors.
We now know there was no PPE available when Covid-19 finally took off in Britain, with many health care workers loosing their lives as a result.
After years of Tory chronic under funding, our NHS, already on its knees, was anything but ready to deal with a pandemic.
That’s is why yesterday were   reading headlines like the one below.
09.01.21. Independent:
“Record death toll as up to 150,000 infected in a day.”
We deserve better.

Confirmed Red tory wanker. He was only elected due to massive corruption in the party. To which there has been no punitive action against, not even suspension pending the investigation, (in fact they are more interested in finding out who leaked the report) and he keeps giving statements such as "let's be brave enough to work with the Tories" and praising their Coronavirus response.
The government did nothing for weeks in the face of covid-19
They did not join the EU ventilator/PPE schemes, then lied about it
PPE figures were inflated and fiddled
And this is just a start.
The UK is the worst affected country in europe, it's Likely that over 30000 are dead (although we would not know as the government does not publish accurate figures) and the leader of the opposition keeps spouting lines like "let's be brave enough to work with the Tories" and "let's not have opposition for opposition's sake" and praising their response to covid after doing nothing for weeks. People are dying due to incompetence and neglect, including doctors and nurses in our NHS. we don't need a useless softly softly approach. At what point are you complicit.
I don't see how Starmer will ever unite the left to secure enough votes to make him electable. members of the labour party are quitting en-masse to join other parties such as the greens, and at this point, frankly I think they are right to do so.

I feel a little helpless at the moment & keep thinking about the staff on the front line & what they must be going through both physically & emotionally. I don’t know when we’ll be open again & when it will be safe to, but when that time comes I’d like to extend a 30% discount on all my manicure & pedicure services to anyone in NHS @nhsengland .
We see you! You’re hero’s ❤️🌈 When it’s time I’ll be ready for you, with a calm space, a friendly face (under a mask but still friendly & welcoming) & all my usual relaxing treatments.
To any NHS staff reading this, you have my respect & I wish I could do more... for now, staying home, wearing masks if going out (and out for essential travel only) is where its at. #nhs #london #weseeyou #heros #somuchrespect #nhsengland

I honestly love that FE didn’t sell tickets to this race, instead giving them to NHS workers who were working in the ExCel centre when it was a Nightingale Hospital

🤔🤔So many unanswered questions...
Why did a Cambridge PCR test study of 10k people show 100% of their positives to be false?
Why are there many videos of empty hospitals?
Why are the Nightingale facilities being dismantled & closing?
Why is there video after video of people pretending to administer vaccines?
Why does 2020 have the 14th highest overall world death toll in last 30 yrs?
Why are there not masses of homeless dying from it on the streets?
Why does hardly anybody know anyone that's died only from it as opposed to with?
Why are any deaths being marked as Covid up to 28 days after a positive test? Particularly as we only have to isolate for 10-14days after one.
Why has it only taken the lives of 388 under 60s in the UK?
Asymptomatic transfer is now debunked, so why are we still using this data to enforce restrictions?
Why are we still using Neil Ferguson as our "expert" advisor, when he's failed to correctly predict pandemic numbers for the past 20 yrs?
Why are people being sent text messages from NHS saying they've tested positive when they didn't even turn up to the test centre?
Why are we pushing a rushed vaccine from a criminal enterprise that has broken records for claims, for a virus that is affecting literally nobody? That our immune system is dealing with on it's own in 99.8% of the case?
Why aren't we discussing healthy lifestyles, diets, vitamins C and D3 & Zinc etc....that can tackle this?
Why hydroxychloroquine being banned from shelves when it's been proven safe and effective against other conditions?
Why are we being assured this vaccine is safe when we have no proof? Same scenario with swine flu jab 1976. Thousands claimed damages, was GUARANTEED safe.
Why are the police being told to act unlawfully in dealing with anti lockdown protests? Yet leave BLM etc alone?
Why are we only hearing one-sided arguments from "experts"? No debates, no alternative perspectives being addressed by the media/gov.
Why enforce lockdowns and masks when, by their own data, it's proven they don't work...potentially even cause more harm than good?
In Sept, Covid was the 19th highest cause of death. 19th!! Why are we not addressing the 18 others before it?
Why are we not informed about how long to wear a mask for before it becomes contaminated, which in turn is causing health issues like Bacterial Pneumonia?
Why are they're not specific bins for masks if this was so viralous?
Why are we told to use antibacterial santitiser when you need anti-viral to kill a virus?
Where has the flu gone? 20k less deaths this yr
Where has pneumonia gone? 17k less deaths this yr.
Commitee of 10k academics constantly ignored.
I know people that have tested both negative amd positive on the same day, how is this possible?
Why do the government and their officials keep breaking their own rules if they are certain of the severity of this virus?
Jan 2018 there was a flu outbreak that saw a 42% increase in deaths, why no restrictions implemented?
Why shut down hospitality industry when it's been proven to only account for 5% of cases?
How are there still unoccupied beds in hospitals, when they're at capacity every winter?
Why do they insist on focusing on cases rather than deaths?
Why did we see videos in jan/feb/march of people dropping dead in the streets of china?
In July you were 3x more likely to die of flu and pneumonia than Covid.
Why, when they have already been caught in August exaggerating death figures, do you not think they'd do it again?
Why are they happy with their testing of this vaccine yet still need more time to trial cannabis?
Why do they only fact check Covid related content on social media?
Why are they not comparing the rise in cases to the rise in tests administered?

“ Been speaking to several London frontline doctors working in major hospitals. Picture isn’t great. One: “it’s a bit like a warzone. I’d say not far off where we were at in first wave in terms of capacity. But staff are completely demoralised and exhausted this time round.”
Another: “It’s all pretty grim. Over 50% inpatients are covid cases. But no beds free. Supplies holding up well so far. Staff sickness a risk. Elective [procedures] stopped last week but it’s too late.”
Another member of staff from a London hospital: “Things are a mess. Treatment in ambulances, oxygen ran out the other day. It’s horrid. The whole hospital is full of Covid. This is worse than the 1st wave and is going to get worse because the public don’t realise how bad it is.”
The thing I’ve heard repeatedly, from dozens of people working in hospitals, is that the thing making the situation now so much worse is a) severe staff absence which is partly driven itself by Covid but as much by b) profound levels of mental and physical exhaustion.
Hearing about more London trusts cancelling leave well into the New Year, asking people to work extra shifts if they can, redeployments from different parts of the hospital in question.
Hearing about more London trusts cancelling leave well into the New Year, asking people to work extra shifts if they can, redeployments from different parts of the hospital in question.
"Staff are near burn out with lots of them showing signs of PTSD. I see nurses and doctors crying on the corridors before, during and after shifts.
To anyone who says this is not real they need to be shown the inside of a Covid ITU or acute admissions ward."
"Nursing staff hold patients hands as they die with their eyes wide open, nurses and doctors holding iPads so families can say their last goodbyes via Zoom as a patient dies."
Consider the psychological toll of that. The word I keep hearing is burnout.
I’m told a major London hospital has told its senior medical staff to brace themselves for the peak in admissions which they believe still won’t come for another fortnight.
I’m also told that in one London hospital, psychiatric nurses and other mental health staff have been redeployed to provide support to staff on ICU. One staff member tells me:
“Nurses are walking off the wards in tears, some have resigned. They are dealing with PTSD from the multiple traumatic deaths they are witnessing and then having to go back for more. We need everyone to be more cautious. People need to avoid mixing and stay at home. We can’t take much more of this.”
From an anaesthetist at a London hospital: “At various points over the Xmas wkend every CPAP machine (assists breathing, often used to see if patient can cope without intubation, sedation and ventilation) was in use across entire trust. This is a very bad situation to be in.”
“ITU is being covered partly by nurses who are NOT trained in ITU nursing. In some instances paediatric nurses. Many of these people are doing a great job under almost impossible circumstances. But they are not trained for this.”
“The wards are completely overloaded with covid patients. Every night was worse, every night trying to work out how many we could take to to ITU and who would have to cope on the ward for longer.”
“Morale is very low. We all feel the government is continually since April about 2-4 weeks behind what is obvious on the ground.
Anaesthesia and intensive care doctors are getting desperate text messages to help with hospitals that are at the epicentre - East London.”
To add some empirical context to these experiences consider a few things 1) NHS had been increasingly struggling in winter before 2) A&E wait times have been getting worse for yrs 3) staff shortages were a problem per-pandemic- eg we went into this with 40,000 nursing vacancies.
Tumblr media
This is why the Nightingales aren’t being used. Because there just aren’t enough staff to fill them.
In the spring we rode it out because a) it was spring and b) staff were fresher. 9 months on they are physically and mentally spent and it’s winter. They’re pushing water uphill.
The fact that winter would be so bad for the NHS was predictable and predicted. It’s why people like Andrew Heyward said in Nov that Xmas relaxation would add fuel to the fire. It’s also why some public health experts said that early December return to the tiers was a mistake....
Do not listen to idiots who say this is all fake or exaggerated. There is a real crisis going in some of our hospitals right now...”-Lewis Goodall
