George is petty on main and I respect him for it lol. I give him a year and he will become the biggest villain of the grid. Most of Charles stans in twitter wants petty Charles from karting days come back(tbh he was definitely wild as child, pure menace with anger issues, jealousy and hate on his heart it’s not even funny) but he is PR king now so he will tolerate Carlos antics, Carlos family basically liking Charles hate tweets and Spanish media articles like “oh so pretty boy Charles isn’t so talented anymore, huh?”🤷🏽‍♀️

Gonna answer this first.

I have a love-hate relationship with George. I find him amusing in most cases, and he irritates team lh and play padel with Max, so he is getting a pass currently. But the jury is always out for him 🤣.

As I am an outlier about almost all the fandom "perceptions" of how lestappen was/is, so, I think Charles was really the 'actual' hateful one between him and Max. Everyone pretends that they hated each other equally. No, fam... Charles hated Max with the force of a million suns, meanwhile Max was smiling and acting like "There is this extremely fast guy with whom I'm coming together on track frequently, which is irritating but we live. Wish he wasn't such a sour puss about it, tho, because I'd like to be friends."

Max never said a bad word about him or looked at his way funny even after where they both ended up in the wall because of Charles, for example. But Charles was ready for things to go nasty in 2022 simply because he couldn't believe Max has always been a nice guy, actually. Yes, even when they were teens. C'mon, we are talking about a boy who was giving up his toys or favorite things to his sister just so that there wouldn't be a conflict. Just because they'd fight for a wdc, expecting that everyone would turn passive aggressive/subtly hateful is not a good look, but lol, Charles was ready for it. And I am sure, in 2022 after seeing that Max wasn't the guy he thought he was, Charles started to open up and chose to be weird about him in other pent-up ways if you know what I mean.

Charles certainly is capable of being a murder beast, people seem to have forgotten how he used to be in 2019 and 2020, but he is also aware it is not a very good look. So, he is calmer and does his talking behind the closed doors instead of going to the media. Let's see how this will resolve itself or escalate.

When families get into the conflict and be a part of it, I lose some respect, sorry. There is literally no reason to do it unless to stir shit and only NicoR and Nando can do it well, so Sainz Senior should just leave the talking to his son and go do some more rallying or something.

sebchal soulmates au. my absolute favorite, one of my ultimate comfort reads, the most perfect thing i've read and one of the first ones i've ever read. i re-read it often, and it also contains links to the moments described in the fic, so i use it for research (and comfort) on top of it all <3

Down in the Depths We Make Our Home by my dearest @antimonyandthyme

a pacific rim au that made me almost miss roc22 race because i was so invested in it, i couldnt even stop reading it. pacific rim is one of my all time favorite movies, and this is just. so, so bloody beautiful. athy is a master wordsmith, and this fic is. i don't know how to describe it. transcendental. ephemereal. everything. <3

aka the fic ive read probably top 3 most times out of them all. sometimes i go and just read that japan part and melt and die all over. seb comes back as ferrari's team principal after retiring. charles still drives. idek where to start with how wonderful this fic is. i can quote half of it by now. <3

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. seb still races, but charles is a disillusioned model. its such a lovely story of acceptance and of two different worlds crashing, but not really. it has some of my favorite descriptions, and seb's character is wonderfully done throughout. also, there is a sequel from charles' pov, which is equally lovely. i reread it a lot.

seb sells antique books in Monaco. charles is a pornstar. i am IN LOVE with this. the way their rl personalities and issues apply to how they are in this au is magnificently written and just all around amazing. also, very hot :)

i screamed about this fic so much, like so so much. the postcards have one of the best confrontation scenes ever. the showing and not telling really comes through here, and it just. it makes me feel happy whenever i read it.

all of these authors have other fics that you should definitely check out, but these are my favorites by each of them! all of these are also completed bcs I rarely bother with unfinished work, but there is a wip i follow religiously: To be wild, to be free by anonymous author (if you by any chance happen to read this, i adore your fic <3!), where in a twist of fate or magic or whatever, Charles wakes up and Seb is young, and only starting his F1 career as a rbr driver :) and nobody remembers older Seb except Charles. i've re-read what's published like. 5 times so far or sth, i love it so much.

for seb-focused fics, the first, ultimate, and only fic that comes to mind is dearest @kritischetheologie 's Everybody Wants To Rule The World, which is a NicoR/Seb fic and has some of the absolute best characterisation of Seb i've ever seen. it made me so feral, i couldnt write anything for a week because it took over my brain and every time i thought of anything else, i just couldn't. i adore it <3

i will also self-promote here, because my first foray into f1 rpf was a seb-focused fic Red Gods of Old, which is a 2nd person pov magical realism diary entry that focuses on seb in ferrari :)

honorary mention to my ultimate comfort sewis fic I've Got You by @loveyouhomex which made me cry with how perfect it is, and i've only read it twice, because it devastates me in the best way out there. it spans their whole acquaintance in f1, and its so, so beautiful.

there is another wip i follow, which really explores sebs character in a fascinating way, and the self deprecation we've all witnessed, transformed through the superpower au. it's a simi fic by @creampuffjiggle called Six Feet From Ice and i am entranced by it! tho i did binge read it just as the last chapter published turned out to be a hearbreak <3 wholehearted rec!

for charles-focused fics, there are so many lovely ones in the pierre/charles tag on ao3, though most of them are extremely angsty. the ones that i love, and that come to mind instantly are these:

whatever our souls are made of (his and mine are the same) by empireofclouds - a soulmate au with heavy mythologizing that i fucking ADORE;

 hopefully, one day you will love me back by @sebchalex - where monaco gets kicked out of eu and pierre and charles marry and somehow still pine over each other;

If I were proper, I’d have a chance; not with you, but somebody else by @deepdowninshipperhell - an a/b/o which i literally have open on my phone at all times for comfort because its just perfect.

in the end, i will include my own fics here too, because first of all why not, and second of all i do write about seb and charles most often :)

I'm going to lean into the second meme so hard right now, but isn't a 'spirit of the river's flow' a natural being? They are a part of their environment, and they're not constructed or created by humans. I suppose they could be considered beyond our understanding of the laws of nature, but are they beyond the cynn of the story?

Why give a single answer when I can respond to your question with seven of my own?

Far more fun for me this way, and I love to see all the theories folks invest time in.

I'm still on break until tomorrow, technically, but I'm using the time to catch up on social media stuff. The weekend was tough, for multiple reasons, so it's going to be nice to get back to work properly tomorrow, and back to a routine.

"Righteous Side"

PART 1

Year: 2142 / Kennesaw, GA

The world has fallen into darkness brought upon by the selfish destruction of its residents. All businesses had boarded up their entrances. And the human mind had plummeted further into chaos. Demons rose from the depths. But they did not destroy as ancient texts previously suggested. Instead, they attempted to aid in the rejuvenation of humankind. But a looming prophecy might threaten everything they've been planning.

Sorath runs through an alleyway at full speed, a demon hot on his tail. He rounds the corner and tips over piles of garbage. The pursuer bursts through the splayed trash, not slowing down. 

Sorath abruptly stops at a dead-end, cornered by the demon.

"What's your name?" the demon hisses.

Sorath trembles as he inches closer and closer. "What do you want?"

"I want your damn name!" he bellows.

"Why would I give you that? I don't even know who you are?" He backs up into a cement wall.

The demon pulls a knife from behind his back. "Judging by your defiance, you're the one she is looking for. For that, I must kill you."

As he closes in on Sorath, he stops in his tracks. The knife falls to the ground while his hands tremble. Molten cracks spread across his body. He screams in agony.

Sorath slides down the wall onto the ground. "What the hell is going on?"

An elegant female demon emerges from the shadows, her glowing hand outstretched towards Sorath's pursuer. She closes her hand into a fist, causing the betrayer to collapse, lifeless. His ashes dissipate into the calm breeze.

She calmly offers her hand to him. "Stand up, Sorath."

"How do you know my name?" he utters.

She looks around. "We have to go. This isn't something we should discuss here."

Sorath stands up and shuffles to Nicor, taking her by the hand. She puts her hand on his shoulder. Broken angel wings sprout from his back. They look deep into each other's eyes, entranced.

His cheeks redden as a fiery blaze engulfs them. They dissapear into the inferno. Only charred marks adorn the ground where they once stood.

Apparently, the last Friday in January was designated in 2016 as "National Big Wig Day" here in the U.S. Given my enthusiasm for all things mid- to late-1700s, I'm choosing to interpret this as "National Eighteenth-Century Big Wig Day"!

Since I'm not in the US, I would not have known; it may also have been eclipsed a little on Tumblr and elswhere, as the whimsy and fun of putting on a silly hairstyle for a day may have been somewhat overshadowed account of coinciding with International Holocaust Rememberance Day this year.

Having read up on the origins of Big Wig Day, I was quite surprised to find that behind the fun, there is the serious goal of raising awareness and funds for charitable causes (particularly illnesses (or their treatments) that cause hair loss)! In a reverse-Big Wig way, Yours Truly is currently growing out her hair for donation for a charity providing wigs to children with cancer or alopecia. I don't know how much longer I'll keep growing it out as the length is getting cumbersome, but I currently could do a boat 'do using my own hair (and the underwires and padding used to create the shape of course).

It is, by the way, a shame that modern-day hair stylists don't offer the boat anymore, or else you would see me, a fellow enthusiast of the period, marching about town with a fully rigged first rate naval ship of the late 1700s on my head...

Once I'll cut it off, I'll resort to the boat hat, as seen here on a picture from 2017 Nation of Gondwana Festival by user Nicor on Wikipedia:

Funnily enough however, our friend John Graves Simcoe was not too much of a wig fan; at least the only portrait showing him in one depicts him at about 18 years old.

His godfather Samuel Graves stopped wearing wigs pretty early on, I'd say, too; those were big wigs without big wigs! ;-)

The Knucker

A dragon called the Knucker lived in the Knucker Hole, a pool near Lyminster, in Sussex, England. It was causing so much trouble that the local authorities offered a reward to anyone who killed it. A local man, Jim Pulk (or Puttock) managed to poison the beast. But he, in turn, was killed by contact with the dragon’s poisonous blood or from the poison that was used to kill it. His death remains a mystery. The name Knucker comes from the old Anglo-Saxon word nicor which means a “ water monster “.
