Posted a new Megamind fic!!! 🥰 it'll have 3 chpts and is one of my, I think, better works. Enjoy!
Even When The Sky Falls Down
Summary:
Megamind had always been taught that if you saved the woman you love, she would be yours. He never thought it was anything that could be applied to himself, yet here he was, with Roxanne in his arms, hours after he had saved her life.

An interesting thing about the Monarch is that while obviously the entire gag is that he’s enmeshed in this postmodern weirdly formalized etiquette-and-code-of-conduct-based form of super-villainy, this notably does not translate to him being a Megamind-style functionally-benign-showman kind of villain-in-name-only. He kills innocent people constantly. There’s a running gag where he kills cabbies to get out of paying fare. This doesn't really seem to be a salient factor in the other character's assessment of him as a threat or moral agent-his ability, or lack thereof, to tow the Guild line and keep pace with the inside baseball is what actually makes waves, draws scrutiny. There's the comedy of that Season 1 episode where they basically call a time-out mid-death trap in compliance with Guild Law, but this doesn't translate to anyone outside the game receiving similar protections or considerations. He lets Dr. Venture leave midway through an arch to see his shrink and then murders the shrink so that those interruptions will stop happening.
And to me this feels like it’s gesturing at a very real thing that can happen in cape comics, where even the nominally harmless bit-villains aren't actually harmless even if they fail to kill the hero specifically, where even the really overtly silly ones have in fact likely whacked at least a few unnamed characters over the course of their 60-year publication history- only for this to sort of get sanded away as a morally salient feature of the character unless they become specifically known as One Of The Ones Who Constantly Kills People (Joker, Bullseye, Carnage, etc.) because security guards and people trapped in collapsing buildings aren't really real. The show is also attentive to the analogous thing that happens with superheroes with the weird moral myopias they suffer from, in the way that basically every hero has some insane instance of superdickery rattling around in their closet that's still technically canon but hardly relevant. The show is very very clear that as long as you correctly couch your behavior within the idiom, color within the lines, you're entitled to a certain level of carnage and collateral. Which is demonstrated in the second episode with the Revenge Society, where Phantom Limb and company are genuinely freaked out when a nameless slasher shows up to the try-outs. Phantom Limb constantly brutally kills people, but this guy in a bear costume with a kitchen knife? He's killing them in an off-genre way.

Alright, so. I finally rewatched Megamind after meaning to for like two weeks or so, basically ever since the sequel movie came out. And for several reasons, nooot a fan of how the sequel was handled honestly. So, I thought with the original movie fresh in my mind, I could try to brainstorm a couple things I might have done with a sequel.
To start with, the Doom Syndicate. The original movie makes no reference to Megamind knowing any other villains, let alone ever working with them in the past. So, if they were to be included I feel it should be more in a "Oh I've heard of them, they're from that one town a couple states over" way. Acquaintances at best.
But then again, the original movie also seems to imply that if there are any other superheroes or villains, they're pretty dang rare. This isn't The Incredibles where some people are just born with super powers. I mean, no one from out of town came to try and stop Megamind after he "killed" Metro Man. With Titan/Tighten it all happened within a day so less time for outsiders to react, but Megamind had control of the city for a good while there.
So, if we want to keep the Doom Syndicate... it would need to be handled differently. Also get rid of that brain "Mentor" character. I don't really have any ideas for how, except...
Perhaps they're originally fictional in-universe, from a Saturday morning cartoon or a video game or something. One way or another, they're made real and now Megamind has to stop them and probably make them fictional again. Could also be achieved with a different set of villains.
Another way to do a new villain could be Dimensional travel. Say there's some sort of a Bizarro universe, where Metro Man was evil and Megamind was good to start with. Or both were evil and teamed up to do evil. In any case, Alternate Universe Evil Metro Man gets transported to the main universe, causes mayhem. Might even force the Metro Man we know out of retirement temporarily, or not. If he does show up in public, would probably make an excuse of how he's also from some other universe specifically summoned to help out, thus explaining why he's gone again afterwards. Dude just wants to make music.
To add, the dimensional traveling villain doesn't even need to be a version of Metro Man, they could also be anyone else. Some other alien, a dude who fell into acid and got powers from it, idk man.
Hear me out, an Evil Spider-Man of sorts. That is, someone who starts out as a normal human being, perhaps an outcast, and by some twist of fate receives powers, which they proceed to use for evil. Might be re-treading Hal's deal a little but idk what I'm doing anymore.
Evil Bruce Wayne? A rich guy with weird gadgets and the skill to use them, for evil. Would probably be harder to pull off since Megamind's whole deal is how smart he is.
A Mad Scientist type. Megamind is an Evil Scientist, but not a "mad" one, he just builds a death ray powered by the sun because he's that smart. Put him against someone whose ideas make no sense to him but somehow still work.
Misguided hero? Not really a villain but would be an antagonist for the story, someone who's convinced that Megamind's redemption is all an act maybe? Would probably need powers of some sort to be an actual threat.
Alright then, let's move onto something else for a change: MegaRox. My shipper heart needs them either clearly together or clearly working on that. But the original movie does seem to imply they're already together by the time the new museum has opened. I mean, the way she jumped into his arms and then kissed him? Sure it was on the cheek but that wasn't a platonic thing. It's about the context!
No further notes on that, so I present to you... Prequel!
Takes place before Metro Man fakes his death so he can retire, and therefore Megamind is still Evil.
MegaRox wouldn't be an established relationship but did y'all see them at the start of the original? That was practically flirting anyway and that dynamic should be present.
Maybe it could even be early into his villain career? Show how he really got started as a Super Villain, the first kidnappings of Rocanne Ritchi, gaining notoriety, and how Roxanne learned that she's honestly in more danger of getting hit by stray debris from Metro Man's dramatic entrances than from anything Megamind aims at her.
I doubt I'll ever develop any of these ideas into a coherent story but if anyone wants to yoink a thought, go wild. I'm also down for discussing any of these.

Oh boy, never expected to see a Devil Survivor character in here which means it’s anti-propaganda time. I cannot help myself.
The character I’m talking about in question is Kazuya Minegishi, who’s actually the protagonist of the first game. He’s actually a blank slate character like his spiritual successor, Hibiki Kuze, but this just means that you get to play the games entirely projecting yourself onto them. The Devil Survivor series was a Shin Megamind Tensei spinoff series created for the DS family line. While it’s absolutely a fan favorite when it comes to MegaTen/ Persona fans, the games unfortunately aren’t well known outside of the fandom which is honestly a DAMN shame because it’s not for lack of trying.
The first game is about trying to survive the next seven days inside of a city-wide lockdown. Thanks to a modified device called a COMP, you and your party (fortunately or unfortunately) have been given the ability to summon demons in an effort to survive against much stronger demons. While that’s already bad enough, you also have gained the ability to see a person’s “death clock”, the exact day that a person will die.
No one in the quarantine’s death clock is larger than seven days.
Several party members include: A cosplay idol, a local gang member, an elementary school tutor, the daughter of the cult leader that probably started this whole mess, and a demon that joined your party to help protect weaker demons because he became inspired after you saved his life.
Objectively the first game is the better out of the two, but the second game in my opinion is absolutely a worthy successor. Your character is convinced by his best friend, Daichi (voiced by Ben Diskin), to put an app on his phone that will send him the occasional creepy video of one of his friends’ death. Things stop getting funny after you each get separate videos of the both of you dying in the same train accident, alongside another girl named Io. Sure enough, minutes later a terrible earthquake happens and the only way to survive is to use the app to make a contract to be able to summon demons (hilariously, you can get a game over here if you keep selecting the no option, forcing you to start the game completely over).
You must survive the next seven days while having to battle a new threat each night- a massive demon belonging to a group of stars in the Ursa Major constellation known as Septentriones. Also the protagonist of this game is repeatedly called “Shining One” and is. Maybe the reincarnation of the Devil depending on how you interpret the story?
Both games each got a sort of remastered sequel a few years after they both came out, with a different route that made each game twice as long. They’re called “Overclocked” and “Record Breaker” respectively. They’re good games and you should play them.

i'm getting spoilers left and right on youtube for this, and it does look good, so might as well watch it.
oh, the hero of old is female. neat. also seeming equal opportunity female and male nights. cool.
oh, i mean i saw the mechanical prostatic, but the setting is different from what i expected. full on medieval but also tech i'd expect in cyberpunk. the houses are stereotypical medieval, but with neon and large screens. i fucking adore it.
oh, and the death of knight having to come from noble lines (so semi more accurate to how they started).
also the dress is amazing. evoking medieval or even armour feel, but made with modern cloth.
omg it's gay and i love it.
really interesting that one of the main characters is the knight in black. it's a trope that those are the evil ones. fun fact: that's rooted in "fuck the poor". painting your armour was a way of protecting it from things like rust. black paint was cheap to make. so saying someone wore black armour could be pointing out they had little coin to go around, that they were poor or had fallen on hard time. potentially seen as not worthy of being a knight. putting the poor, not noble, knight in black armour is thus carrying a lot of deeper rooted baggage. very cool. (look at me having some actual insight for once!)
wow, that was one damn strong scene. nice, oh... au, oh nevermind yay, ah fuck.
damn, did he remove more of his arm? in the scene it looked like it was cut mid upper arm, but here he attacked it starting at the shoulder. i also questioned how one would be able to cut trough armour and arm just like that, but probably with super swords. then again why don't they also have super armour?
oh, he doesn't have a sword... yea, makes sense with his past.
this world is just so neat and weird in the best way. tower as part of a wall, next to a bit of a junkyard. it's such a weird and awesome combination.
big fan of plan something something something.
Nimona's motivation makes this so interesting.
institute + surveillance state. how evil can you make the guys in white?
'i'd be easier if you were a girl be a girl' 'HA' 'i mean easier if you looked human' 'easier for who?' 'for you, other people aren't as accepting as me'. there's an lgbtq+ analogy in here... correction THIS IS 100% ANALOGOUS TO JUST PRETENDING TO BE STRAIGHT AND/OR CIS!
and now i can't stop hearing the trans analogies.
oh, i really like how they showed inner thoughts. also Really low how blatant they are with the gayness. the literal knight in shining armour says "i lost the man i love". there is no reasonable straight reading of this movie AND I LOVE IT!!!
"you want to show them?" "i'd love to" "lets break stuff" this line speaks to me in so many ways. i love it so much. i love the growth... into villainy? i mean that is the growth except he's not the villain? feels like the endpoint is where megamind ended up, but instead of going from evil with villainous ways to good with villainous ways it's from good with no ways to good with villainous ways.
oh, my soul. how dare you stab it. (ironic in hindsight)
damn... so many analogies that are just surface. like i'm not good at seeing analogies yet i see them.
oh my the exist was fucking perfect. i'd seen this scene before. it feels like the end... nope, we are just barely half way trough... the main threat is practically resolved, what are we going to do in the next 45 minutes? (a lot is credits)
oh, hey, the fear that "the other" could be anyone around you, and they are dangerous... do i need to point out the analogies some more?
truly heart-breaking.
if you want it to be a monster it's a monster you'll get.
don't you FUCKING DARE end it like that!!!!
DON'T!!!
in the credits: "love is love"
in case it wasn't obvious enough SHE BREATHES REAINBOW FIRE INTO A HEART SHAPED TUNNEL WITH BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE, RED, WHITE, PINK, LIGHT BLUE, BROWN AND BLACK!!!
in total: really good. the ending wasn't quite to my liking. on the one side very strong, on the other i'd have pefered if that last scene continues for at least a little bit, allow us to see just a bit more. also the credits were a bit long but that's extremely nitpicky. MUST WATCH!

FAN THEORY THURSDAY: What Sort of Hero Will Megamind Be?
Tumblr media
Gasp and shock! I’ve actually managed to post two weeks in a row, and this one is even on a REAL THURSDAY! If you’re thinking about playing the lottery or taking up a career as a professional gambler, apparently this is the day to do it. Hahaha!
With luck this wonderful, maybe that one person who has never yet watched Megamind will even finally give it a go, but in case they don’t: SPOILER WARNING!
At the end of the animated movie Megamind, the former villain has, of course, just been officially named the local Defender. One question that a lot of fans have, however, is: “what sort of a hero will Megamind be?” With a new sequel series, Megamind’s Guide to Defending Your City, now in the works, this has become an even more prominent topic of discussion. Some suggest that we may witness our favorite blue genius messing up a lot, at least initially, as well as being a bit of a goofball while others propose that he may actually be excellent at his new job. Can fan theories and film evidence provide any insights? Let’s find out!
What Makes a Hero?
The first thing necessary to discern, of course, is exactly what makes someone a hero. Of course, as the Defender of Metro City, Megamind would be expected to protect the populace from threats and crimes, but that probably isn’t the sum total of the requirements. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a hero as “a person admired for achievements and noble qualities.” What specific noble qualities are we talking about? Beyond the obvious selfless interest in the welfare of others, myriad other possibilities come to mind. Luckily, the film gives us some idea of which characteristics Megamind may choose to focus on.
Tumblr media
During the scene inside of the Metroman Museum, Megamind, disguised as Bernard, discusses with Roxanne the required traits for a hero. These include bravery, strength, and determination. Add to this the aforementioned desire to protect and help others along with a capacity to do so and the result is a fairly good recipe for a hero. The truly interesting thing about this conversation is that, although he clearly doesn’t recognize it at the time, during the movie we see that Megamind possesses all of these qualities.
Bravery
Make no mistake, even when he was a supervillain, Megamind’s courage rated well above average. He survived numerous battles and faced off with not one but two superpowered foes. When Titan tried to kill him, he didn’t panic or freeze, but rather took immediate action, and when Roxanne needed him, he put his life on the line to save her. Even when he is falling to his apparent death, the alien genius managed to remain calm enough to keep his heart beating and devise a plan. This fellow has nerves of steel.
Tumblr media
Perhaps most impressive of all, however, is the fact that, despite being ostracized, bullied, humiliated, and mocked all of his life, he still regularly subjected himself to the public eye. True, the blue man cares a great deal about presentation, and always put on a good show even as a villain, but I would argue that the constant dislike and rejection of everyone around him certainly had an effect.
As I mentioned last week in Hal is Not Megamind’s Greatest Enemy, it seems clear that the alien genius continued to disguise himself as Bernard while dating Roxanne because he felt certain that was the only way to spend time with her. Not only that, but his reactions to the disguise watch failing or to anyone moving too close unexpectedly make it fairly clear that he legitimately thought he might be physically attacked. (You can read more about that in What’s Hidden in the Animation.) Fan theories suggest that this all indicates he fully expected to be hated and harmed wherever he went and felt a certain amount of vulnerability as a result. Yet he continuously put himself out there, again and again, opening himself to public disdain and fighting even though he knew he would likely be hurt every time. If that isn’t bravery, I don’t know what is.
Strength
If you’ve read earlier Fan Theory Thursday posts, you already know that Megamind is inhumanly strong. He may not be able to match Metroman’s immense physical power, but he’s certainly no pushover. For example, in How Strong is Megamind we examined what occurs during the movie when Megamind punches Titan. More specifically, we discovered that the pressure behind the blue man’s blow to his enemy’s face is obviously greater than the tensile strength of a circular saw blade because it was the saw and not Megamind’s bones that broke.
A follow-up fan theory article, Megamind’s Anatomy Part 2, expanded upon this observation. The average compressive strength of a circular saw is 750 one-million Megapascal Pressure Units, or MPa, and Pounds Per Square Inch pressure (psi) can be calculated as MPa x 145. This would mean that in order to break a saw blade, someone would need over 108,000 psi. Now, of course, the edge of the blade is the weakest point, so the blue man probably isn’t actually that powerful, but he would still have to be multiple times stronger than even the most muscular human males.
Tumblr media
Add to that the fact that, several times during the movie, Megamind picks up Roxanne Ritchi without any visible effort—who is said to be a US dress size Medium and thus estimated to weigh about 150 pounds, or 70 kilograms—and it becomes clear that, although he may look slender, Megamind is surprisingly strong. This is especially true because, given their respective sizes, Roxanne is probably a little heavy than the former villain himself, meaning that he is able to lift more than his own body weight with apparent ease. (Feel free to read the aforementioned article as well as What Would Megamind Look Like in Real Life if you would like to learn more about that.)
Determination
Of course, physical power isn’t the only kind of strength, and Megamind possesses a will every bit as puissant as his body. He and Minion were raised in prison, surrounded by adult criminals, and Megamind almost certainly had to fight to keep them safe. Nonetheless, he not only survived but thrived. He made himself into the top supervillain in Metro City. In an unused storyboard the Doom Syndicate, a band of other local Bad Guys, appears to defer to him, and, according to some fan theories, built a criminal empire from nothing.
Tumblr media
According to the comic The Reign of Megamind, which is considered largely canon, the blue man has concocted over 600 plots before the movie even begins. He’s been defeated by Metroman every time, yet he continues to proverbially dust himself off and try once more. How many of us could face over 600 failures without ever giving up? Indeed, during the film he explains that “there is a benefit to losing; you get to learn from your mistakes." In The Reign of Megamind he echoes this sentiment, saying: “Losses are learning experiences. Defeats build determination.” And that’s not all. As I mentioned recently in Hal is Not Megamind’s Greatest Enemy, when, during his final battle with Titan, the former villain finds himself temporarily in too much pain to walk, he crawls instead. Nothing stops Megamind for long. Obviously, the blue man has determination in spades!
Selflessness
As I stated at the beginning of this post, a selfless desire look after the well-being of others in an aspect of heroism not specifically mentioned in the movie. Nonetheless, it is one that Megamind embodies. Following Titan’s attempt to murder the blue man and commencement of a city-wide rampage, Megamind goes to Roxanne for help in finding his new foe’s weakness. A less courageous and caring person might have fled, and the blue man certainly had the capacity to do so. He had a disguise watch so it isn’t as if Titan could easily identify him. If the hoverbike seemed too risky, he could have stolen a car. (After all, the alien genius was already a criminal and presumably not above grand theft auto.)
Tumblr media
However, Megamind doesn’t leave, instead choosing to face an overpowered homicidal man-child in an effort to set things right. Despite being a supervillain and despite the callous way nearly every citizen of Metro City treated him for decades, he is willing to risk his life to save the populace. Even when he addresses his concerns to Roxanne, Megamind never so much as mentions the fact that Titan wants him dead. Rather, his primary worry is that the new Bad Guy will “destroy the whole city.” For someone who is supposedly evil, that’s a very selfless stance to take. (I go into more detail about this character trait in Megamind and Identity.)
Capability
Having the heart of a hero often isn’t enough unless one also has the ability to change negative situations. In an alternate reality where supers regularly make the battle between good and evil literal, that means being able to win a fight. Megamind certainly displays this capacity.
Not only is he strong, as I’ve said before, but he’s tough. Before the movie begins, the former villain has faced off with Metroman hundreds of times which, given his one-time nemesis’s powers, must have required a great deal of resilience. His hardened reputation is notable enough that he feels completely unthreatened in jail. Furthermore, during his confrontations with Titan, he survives his battle suit being ploughed through a multi-story building and his person being thrown against a brick wall hard enough to crack it. Of course, as I’ve mentioned before in Megamind’s Cloak, there is a fan theory that the blue man’s spikes contain electrodes that produce an energy shield which might help him endure such events. Nonetheless, he would still have to be incredibly tough.
He just as obviously knows how to fight. We see him throw a couple of good punches at Titan, fire the De-Gun without ever missing, and even expertly fence during his first battle with the film’s antagonist. Thus the blue man demonstratively knows how to use a rapier, a pistol, and his fists. Indeed, he appears to be highly skilled with all three. This has led fans to theorize that he may be trained in the use of other weapons and techniques as well. Either way, although he often relies on his inventions to get the job done, Megamind seems to be quite capable of defending himself in more traditional ways. That versatility would be a definitive advantage in any fight.
Tumblr media
Speaking of inventions, along with his physical abilities, Megamind is also amazingly brilliant. He calls himself a genius. But “super-genius” would be more accurate. In How Smart is Megamind, I estimated that his IQ is probably around 350, significantly higher than the smartest human on record. (In fact, he beats both Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking by almost 200 points, and the estimated IQ of the smartest person on record, William James Sidis, by around 100.)
We definitely see him using that intelligence during the film. He creates things that modern scientists and engineers only dream of, such as hard light holograms, cyborgs, and a fully-functional invisibility shield—not to mention Minion’s wireless neuroprosthetic suit! He devises ingenious plots—predicting that Roxanne will reveal their location and planning around it, sending Minion, disguised with a holowatch, to buy time while he himself scans Metroman’s likeness and voice into his own device—and he thinks quickly on his feet, even under pressure. (An excellent example is when he dehydrates himself above a large fountain to survive what would otherwise likely be a fatal fall.)
Just as he invented doom devices while a villain, many suspect we will see him building advanced machines and technology as the Defender. Indeed, one fan theory draws parallels between the blue man and another black-clad superhero who relies on martial skills, intelligence, and gadgets: Batman. Given that Megamind is, to an extent, a spoof on DC comics, that supposition is not entirely unfounded.
Goodness
Finally, although he spent the majority of his adult life as a supervillain, Megamind is a good person. He respects Roxanne, calling her the smartest person he knows, and, despite clearly being attracted to her and having her in his power multiple times, he never takes advantage of her in any way. As previously mentioned, he seems to truly care about the city and its people. Indeed, he seems predisposed to care. He treats his henchman more like a friend or a brother, and dotes on his cyborgs like pets.
Tumblr media
Beyond this, he really does have a silly, lovable side. Remember the goofiness mentioned at the beginning of this post? It’s most certainly a part of his personality. He pranks the warden, plays with the brainbots, laughs with Minion, and cracks a joke on stage when he becomes the Defender of Metro City. Even his banter is comical. He seems to have taken the time to truly know Roxanne and, while disguised as Bernard, usually plans their dates at places he knows she’ll love, such as the park and the library. Judging by his interactions with youngsters during both Button of Doom and the Bad Blue Brilliant comics, he appears to like children although he tries to hide it. He’s lively and jovial, making geeky references throughout the film and rocking out to classic heavy metal. Although he certainly takes his battles seriously, he still enjoys meeting the challenge and putting on a show. Clearly, Megamind is a legitimately good person with a fun-loving disposition and a great sense of humor. This cheerful outlook will doubtlessly help him win citizens over and keep a positive mindset.
So, what kind of hero will Megamind be? It appears probable that all of the fan theories are correct. He will likely make mistakes, but he will learn from them. He will certainly still be the same charmingly goofy blue alien we all love. However, given all of his personal qualities, he will also be a proficient and dedicated Defender. All in all, I think we can agree that Metro City is lucky to have him.

Team Real will genuinely never make sense to me.
In the broader scheme of things, they technically “won” bragging rights because according to publications and the words coming from Chris’s own mouth (he didn’t mention the skank directly but 🖐🏾😒🤚🏾) CE & AB are “married”. So why do these grown adults worry so much about if other grown adults have different opinions than them? Are they scared that any day now something’s going to pop up and expose this whole situation for being fake? Are they scared they won’t have traction if they don’t continue being the opposing “side” and cause strife and chaos here between blogs? Are they scared that they’ll have to come to terms with being used as pawns in a game that should’ve never been invented in the first place and they’ll have to face the reality of how terrible they looked and acted?
If you’re so secure in your position that a celebrity relationship is so real despite you not even being 1/2 of it, then stick to your shit and move on with your life. You got what you wanted. Why are you still wallowing and crying about other blogs? I understand that some blog’s have anons who go to other blogs and cause drama in hearsay, but practice what you preach and block the opinions and asks that you don’t like. It’s as simple as that. No one deserves death threats and harassment over their own perspective, but if you don’t like something being said remove the problem. Especially if it’s your blog. Curate your experience for yourself and surround yourself with people who share the same ideas you. I mean their favorite Nazi Pornstar surrounds herself with racists and antisemites so obviously she curates her experiences to what she wants around her since she hasn’t kicked their asses to the curb. Take a lesson from your new fav. You know the same one whose ass you were just dragging this time a year ago.
Their first excuse anytime someone disagrees to their opinions is, he won’t fuck you. Sure, he won’t. Since he doesn’t know us. And I wouldn’t wanna fuck him either after how he’s been acting the past two years. But he won’t fuck you either just cause you’re now kissing his aging Casper ass and she probably wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire just cause you’re choosing to now support her dirty ass too.
I will just never understand how women in their late 20s to apparently Chris’s age (and this is not me just bringing up age to bring it up, this is me pointing out the antics of overgrown ass women and adults) forgot that everyone is different, and not everyone is going to think like you do. I think they’re just bothered because a lot of anons or peeps they used to interact with are in a state of whiplash by how quick they flip flopped like fish (😏) with going from dragging to now just absolutely adoring Dumbass and Megamind over here so they’re getting called out for being fake. Which in a sense is what they deserve. You can’t sit here and be in outrage over her racism associations and co, but then within the same year start loving her and forgetting all of the shit she did and then forget your own actions in the process like it never happened and then have the audacity to get pissy when people are calling you out for it. It don’t work both ways. You chose your lane and stay in it. Don’t be mad because your lane looks to be going into oncoming traffic.
No let’s bring up age. These women are apparently in their late 20s to early/late 40s and act this way? Sweetie pies…. Did you have a mental stunt growth? Truly unbelievable how they dedicate their lives to “Team PR”
I didn’t agree with the team deal before, but why does it matter what people think? If a man treats you the way CE has treated Alba then get out of that relationship. There’s no love.

1-22 for Megamind (just kidding, unless,) but particularly: 1, 3, 10, 15, 16
Oooooo! Lol, going straight for the throat on these >:3
Their physical weak spots The most obvious one is his neck. Look, Megamind is strong and his head is well-balanced, but his neck is quite long and that has some drawbacks. Less obvious weak spot would be his secondary respiratory system-- his gills vent between the bones of his ribcage, so if you got up in there, you could potentially do some serious damage. And you can induce a state of tonic immobility by petting back to front over his crown, which is NOT something he advertises (currently that's just in the Feathers&Fins verse, but I'm considering expanding it to my general headcanons). There is also a poorly-healed hole in the back of his skull behind his left ear, but it's VERY small, so it tends to be overlooked.
Scars or painful spots Megamind doesn't typically scar, but he does have a couple of scars on his chest from Metro Man's lasers. He will also start having some joint and spinal problems as he gets older.
Fears/phobias He doesn't 'do' doctors or medical personnel outside of the prison infirmary-- and after the doctor who treated him as a child retires, he also doesn't stay there for long. He and Minion have everything they need to treat him at Evil Lair, from basic first aid to major surgery. Having a mindtwin with mechanically-stabilized hands is useful for more than just fine electrical work! Hospitals are even worse. Too much white, and the smell is bad. Less viscerally, he fears losing the very few people who are important to him. Minion, Roxanne. Even Metro Man, in a way, although I think he only develops that fear (or realizes it's a thing) after the events of the movie. Also? Earplugs. Fuck if he knows why, but he HATES stuff in his ears. The whole business is just wrong. Show him some earplugs and he'll get the heebie jeebies.
What it takes to make them cry Megamind has walls, but there's like six inches of space between the bottoms of the walls and the ground. If you tunnel under them by doing certain things he (A) doesn't expect and (B) wants so badly he won't let himself think about them, you can get emotional reactions out of him fairly easily (just be prepared to deal with the aftermath of those reactions: displays of genuine emotion are going to freak him out after the fact). That said, actually getting him to cry would require a situation where he is already somewhat comfortable lowering the proverbial drawbridge or throwing you some climbing gear, OR he's coming down from a depersonalization episode, OR he's just really really freaking out. Otherwise, the most you're getting is probably just a couple tears without actual crying-crying. ...So, give him a panic attack, basically.
Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’ We're getting into this a bit in Undertow, but I headcanon that Megamind is not actually all that broken up about having to commit the occasional murder. The part that REALLY freaks him out is that he isn't freaked out. But like...he's a supervillain, yes? That's "villain" with a "super" in front of it? I'm sorry, but you do not get that title by building robo-sheep and typhoon cheese. The key is presentation, but there's a bunch of different places that could go. And in combination with the headcanon that he's also Overlord of Metro? Sometimes his hand is forced. He does typically give people a choice: death, or the Long Gallery. The latter is basically a reinforced bunker with sealed boxes of blue cubes in it, suspended over tanks of water. The boxes will disintegrate naturally in about two to three hundred years.
It takes him a lot to hit the point where he's ready to do either of those things, but sometimes shit happens. On a related note, he...also doesn't threaten to do anything he isn't ready to follow through on. This probably doesn't look like a "dark secret" until you remember some of the threats I've had him make :/ He protects his territory.
The rest of his "skeletons" are backstory-related and would probably require several content warnings, so! Not going into that too much here. Although I did very vaguely allude to one of the backstory things in the last paragraph of my response to this other ask (which nobody appears to have picked up on, lol).

ok while qaa tries to fill the void that his da- i mean dadschlatt anon left in their heart, i will share an au idea
MEGAMIND au 😎
ok so the megamind plot is hero vs villain yadda yadda the hero wants to retire and fakes his death bc megamind in this case quackity is actually kind of a mild threat(maybe either slime or techno is metroman). Quackity has taken over the city and is probably in a silly goofy mood trying to make a new las vegas but feels empty inside and concocts a serum to create a new superhero to oppose him bc hes so lonely 💔 but then i always believed that if things didnt go to shit in the movie he would have ended up injecting the roxanne which would be wilbur w the serum bc he's obviously a real moral hero trying to make a good impact in the news networks from the position he can get (theyre probably anti wilbur bc he serves major cunt too well) and never took q's shit as a hostage.
q can be a bit of a ratty looking bird hybrid sort of avian w bird feet and feathered ears and actual wings that never developed to grant him flight and the super serum can be a little goofy and give wil his white streak ❤️ the plot would end up p different bc it would be tntduo being psycho-competitive just like they were when q was holding reporter wil hostage except this time wil has super powers and hes definitely not titan but maybe he goes a little power crazy wanting to punt this pathetic man into the atmosphere once he realizes how much more powerful he is ❤️ and ofc the roles could be swapped but now i realize that slime could be q's henchman ❤️ ohh or tommy could be wil's 👀

OH MY GOD, I LOVE MEGAMIND
Put this one for size: Techno is Metro Man, Quackity is Megamind, Slime is Minion, Wilbur is Roxanne, and Fundy is Titan
Don't get any gross ideas, it's not a romantic thing between him and Wil, he just desperately wants Wilbur to be his father figure and Wilbur is not having it, and then Quackity acts like his father figure and he's like "FINALLY I HAVE A DAD" but then he sees Wilbur and Quackity together and goes "Oh, so you're gonna be his dad instead??" (not clear which of them he was talking to) and they're both like "clearly not" but Fundy's gonna destroy the city about it anyway

Chapter 2 is up! I had originally wanted to make this a super short one-shot but ended up adding 11000 more words 😬 Enjoy!
Chapters: 2/3 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Summary: Megamind had always been taught that if you saved the woman you love, she would be yours. He never thought it was anything that could be applied to himself, yet here he was, with Roxanne in his arms, hours after he had saved her life.

absolutely wild to me that i have seen in multiple occasions people getting told to kill themselves over blazing original fiction and art. but when i spend ten dollars to blaze danganronpa megamind, an action that arguably warrants it far more, nothing. zero death threats. zero suicide baits.
i either got really lucky or this means something. not sure what

Viego Rant (villainy and character design and tragedy and all that jazz)
Introduction The more I think about Viego, League of Legends’ newest character, the more enamored I am with him as a villain (unrelated to his general sexiness, though that does tie in with what makes him such a good villain).
I’ve seen a lot of complaints about his design. The Ruined King, one of the greatest threats in Runeterra, the progenitor of the Shadow Isles, the lord of the undead, is finally released as a playable champion and he looks like this:
Tumblr media
People were expecting another Mordekaiser (who is similarly an undead king with a ghost army), a lich-tyrant clad in iron, decayed flesh peeling from an aged face. What we got was an angsty anime prettyboy, and it was infinitely better than the alternatives.
Lore Viego isn’t a conquering king. While his combat abilities are indeed badass, his personality is far from it. He’s a whiny brat and that’s incredible. He isn’t bent on world domination. His character arc revolves around just how human, how fallible he really is. For those unfamiliar with his lore, I’ll paraphrase it here:
Viego was the second son of a great king. Overshadowed by his brother and with no expectations upon him and near-limitless wealth, he wandered around being an idiot fuckboy for the vast majority of his formative years. Disaster struck when his brother died in an accident, and Viego took the throne with no training, no experience, and no desire to be king. He was a shitty king. The worst king. Just all-around apathetic. Gave zero shits. Can you blame him? It’s a lot of responsibility to be thrust upon someone who isn’t much more than a child, and with no preparation. He didn’t care about anything, that is, until he met Isolde. She was a poor seamstress, but he fell in love with her upon their first meeting. Together they ruled the country but it was really just them staring longingly into each others’ eyes. His allies were kinda fucking pissed about that, and one day an assassin came from Viego. The assassin fucked up and stabbed Isolde instead, and the poison on the blade made her fall gravely ill. As she lay in her bed, slowly dying, Viego went mad seeking a cure. He ravaged the land seeking any knowledge that might help, pouring all of his money into finding an antidote. He failed. As a last resort, he brought Isolde’s body to the Blessed Isles, a place rumored to be able to resurrect the dead. It worked, to an extent. Isolde’s wraith, confused, afraid, and angry at being ripped from the peace of death, unthinkingly stabbed Viego in the chest with his own magic sword, creating basically a magic nuke that turned the Blessed Isles into the domain of the undead. Viego resurrected as the king of the Shadow Isles some time later, having totally forgotten that Isolde killed him. He controls a big-ass ghost army, could probably beat up any living thing in a fight, and has evil ghost magic. Now this stupid simp wants his wife back and if he has to kill every living thing on Runeterra, well, anything for his queen. He’s even a tier 3 sub to her Twitch.
Music His musical theme isn’t some heavy metal anthem or intense cinematic piece (unlike the Pentakill song named after his sword, Blade of the Ruined King). It’s mostly sad and slow, almost sinister, with a piano and a music box. It has its loud moments featuring violins and choral bits like any villainous music, but the song is mostly subtle. It is a banger though.
youtube
In the comments section of this video, someone pointed out that the music reflects his story from beginning to end:
Tumblr media
Everything about this champion is so well done. Riot Games really outdid themselves on this one. Bravo, encore please.
Motivation While the Mordekaiser circlejerkers on r/LeagueofLegends won’t shut the fuck up about how powerful Mordekaiser is, Viego is the better villain. Mordekaiser may be a bigger threat to all life on Runeterra, but Viego is a better character. (There’s a guy on my League discord server who won’t shut up about Mordekaiser so forgive me for being pissed at Morde stans).
Mordekaiser is motivated by a desire for control, to rule the world. Viego is motivated by obsession and misplaced love. There aren’t a lot of Mordekaisers on Earth. Supervillains are rare in real life. But Viego’s motivations are a lot closer to home. People in positions of power that they don’t deserve can do a lot of harm (for example: Trump).
He’s a grieving husband who was never prepared to deal with anything more difficult than choosing what wine to drink with dinner, who is trying to get his wife back because the world had always complied to his every whim. He’s a funky mix between a truly hopeless romantic and a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum.
Obsession is scary. It’s a real-world emotional state that’s been the cause of a lot of murders over mankind’s history. In contrast, Mordekaiser’s cartoonish Genghis Khan XXL schtick isn’t something that we encounter often. Of course a superpowered ultradictator would be worse for the world, but if you give ultimate power to a random person, you’re more likely to get someone like Tighten from Megamind. Or, more relevantly, Viego.
Design His design is sexy and stupid, just like him. He wears an open shirt into battle and wields his sword like an idiot (I’ve seen all the rants about how that’s not how that sword is meant to be used) because he was never really a warrior. Even at his most violent, right before the end of his mortal life, he didn’t do much combat himself, leaving his military endeavors to his underlings. Even now that he’s essentially a god, he still has a colossal wraith army that causes far more devastation than he ever could personally.
Despite his slim build (by League of Legends standards), he easily wields his colossal sword because of the strength of his state of undeath. Like his political power when he was alive, his posthumous magical and physical powers were never something he sought out, they were just given to him by circumstance.
The big cool-ass triangle hole in his chest where Isolde stabbed him is the source of the Black Mist, which is evil ghost mist that ebbs and flows from the Shadow Isles, bringing with it hordes of the undead. The sadder Viego is, the more Mist he creates. Poetically, his invasion of the world is inspired by his sorrow at his wife’s death and enabled by his wife’s reluctance to return to him. His story is perfectly reflected by his design.
Isolde Isolde’s spirit took up residence inside a young Senna (who’s another League champion, not particularly important here). This led to some Black Mist-related shenanigans and at least for the time being, Senna uses Isolde’s power to fight off the servants of Viego which threaten all life on Runeterra.
It seems pretty clear that whatever love Isolde felt for Viego is gone by now. Whether or not she ever loved him or was just unable to say no to the king is up for debate, but I’d like to believe there was something there. In my opinion, Viego’s story hits harder if they really were a great couple at first, torn apart by circumstance and obsession.
Much like the Maiden of the Woods in that one comic that circulates around here, to whom the knight gave his heart and she was like “yo what the fuck i literally never asked you to do this,” Viego went a little too far in trying to save her. They may have once been happy, but the Ruined King ruined his own life, too.
Unless Isolde is a lot less morally decent than we’ve been led to believe, I doubt she can forgive all the massacring that her husband’s been doing lately. In the recent cinematic, she was shown to be pretty anti-Viego. Maybe she’ll get a bastardization arc, but it certainly seems unlikely.
All of Season 2021 is based around Viego, Isolde, and the Shadow Isles, so we’ll just have to see what comes next. It’s possible that we’ll get Isolde as a playable champion, which should clear a lot of things up.
Final Thoughts Unlike so many villains, he’s not fueled by rage or hatred, but rather by sorrow. He’s stuck in his past, unable to move on. He regrets the actions of his life but is set on his course now. The sunk-cost fallacy comes into play here; he’s put so much time and effort and blood into bringing back Isolde, that turning away from it would feel to him like an insult, not only to her but to the innocent lives he’s taken in her name.
His tale is a tragedy, a love story gone horrifically wrong. Viego has suffered throughout his thousand-year life. Despite this, he’s undoubtedly the villain. His permanent death would be a net positive for the world. In has rage and grief he’s destroyed multiple civilizations, and will burn down the world to get Isolde back.
His heart may be in the wrong place, but it’s in a very human place. I don’t think he’ll get the ending he’s looking for, but I hope he finds some closure in the end.

There are moments in everyone's life where they wonder how the hell they got into the situation they are in. You, it just so happens, have this thought at least once every two or so weeks. This was that moment, falling from who knows what story of the shield building while being shot at from above. As the wind rushed through your ears as you free fell, you can’t think of a similar scene from a movie that you watched at the Avenger’s tower, Megamind. Sadly you don’t have a gun that will dehydrate you until you hit the water. No, you just have your stupid super strength and the hope that your soldier won’t be too mad at you if you don’t make it out of this. Your careening thoughts are brought to an abrupt end as you are grabbed out of the air by a distinctly metal arm. You’re ripped out of your fall and into the arms of your soldier. Confused you look around and see that he had somehow commandeered a helicopter and pilot. You don’t have time to think about how mad you are at him for coming or how fucked you are once he catches his breath before he pulls back and yells at you.
The first words out of your devastatingly handsome soulmate’s mouth after saving your life are not how happy he is he was there to save you or how much he already loves you. No the first words out of his mouth are the ever Bucky-like words
"I don’t know whether to kiss you or throw you off a building right now." You decided not to comment on how counterproductive it would be for him to push you off a building after saving you from that exact fate. Instead, you looked up at him a little dazed after your near death experience and brazenly said
"if you don’t kiss me right fucking now, I'll push you off a building." You could see the smile he was fighting to hide before he slammed his lips to yours and all you could think was how right kissing him felt. You mentally scolded yourself for not kissing him properly before you left. You made a mental promise that you would give him a proper kiss wherever you had to separate, you refused to live with regret if something were to happen before you saw each other again. You were breathless as he pulled away, wishing that the moment didn’t have to end. But the helicopter was touching down and there were other places that you were needed. As soon as the helicopter touched the ground you grabbed Bucky’s arm pulling him along with you as you ran back towards the building you just fell out of. The roaring of the helicarrier engines was deafening as you entered the building. You prayed that Steve was on one of them so that he could disable them. There was nothing you could do about them now, you thought running full tilt through the lobby and to the elevators. You needed to help Nat take care of Hydra. You waited impatiently in the elevator as it made its way to the top floor. Bucky putting his hand on your shoulder to remind you that you were not alone. The bell dinged informing you, that you had reached your destination. You looked over your shoulder at Bucky, his eyes met yours and he nodded, you could do this. You rushed into Fury’s office, Bucky hot on your tail, in time to see all of the helicarries firing on each other and exploding in the background. Your attention was immediately diverted from the windows to the sight of Pierce leading Natasha towards you and the door while holding a phone. You couldn’t really understand why a phone was enough to make her do what he wanted, but you didn’t have time to ponder that before you were noticed. Pierce looked up from the phone in his hand, eyes skipping over you and landing on Bucky. The smile that crossed his lips at the sight of his soldier walking through the door made your skin crawl. The sure way he held himself as if he knew that he had won, made you want to shoot him.
“Ah, Soldat, I’m so glad you came back and brought the traitor with you as well.” he congratulated, you felt Bucky tense at his words, knowing that if Pierce realized he wasn’t under Hydra control things would go south quickly. He gave a stiff nod to Pierce grabbing your arm as you spat out insults at the man in front of you.
“I’m sure,” he continued while ignoring you, “That her father will be very excited to have her back safe. He has had ample time to discover new ways to get her back under control. I distinctly remember him mentioning something about a new experiment that he wanted to try on her.” At the mention of your father, you felt the blood drain out of your face, and at the same time you saw red. Breaking out of Bucky’s grip you watched as Natasha pushed a button, electrocuting herself. Weird, you thought but you didn’t have time to wonder what exactly that accomplished before you were pulling your gun out from behind you. Eyes widening as you heard Pierce say the first word “Longing”. You felt rather than saw Bucky tense up behind you, weapon falling to the ground. Pierce’s voice was cut off mid word by the bullet you fired into his skull. He had barely got out the first syllable of the second word before he fell to the ground, dead. You barely registered Fury running over to check on Natasha, you were too focused on Bucky. You spun to look at him as soon as you pulled the trigger. His eyes were glassy, staring forward unfocused. His body was frozen, every muscle pulled tight. You placed your gun back in its holster, moving slowly, knowing that any fast moment would be seen as a threat. Creeping forward you gently reached for one of his trembling hands. His eyes snapped to you as soon as your fingers brushed his skin, a flicker of recognition flashing across them before they went back to glassy and unfocused. You took one last slow step, until you were inches from him, observing the way his muscles tensed even more at your proximity, eyes narrowing as he decided if you were friend of foe. You held his gaze, unflinching as you softly began to speak.
“Hello Sunflower,” you whispered watching his eyes widen at the words, seeming to focus on your face for a moment. You started again, changing it up just a little bit. “Hello Bucky, my sunflower, the sun is up, your dreaming is done,” you spoke quietly tilting your head to the side, gauging his reaction to the words.
A sigh of relief passed your lips as his eyes lost their glassiness, wondering from your face to your hands and back again. His body started to relax, until the realization of what could have happened caused fear to take over. He started to tremble, his mind started to race, he could have hurt you, hell he could have killed you and there was nothing he could have done to stop himself. He pulled his hand from yours, head falling in shame and defeat. You knew the thoughts that were running through his head and you couldn’t allow them to continue. Lifting one of your hands you gently placed it on his cheek, tilting your heads until your foreheads touched. Taking a deep breath you licked your lips before softly speaking,
“Bucky, I need you to listen to me and hear the words I am about to say.” you paused allowing him to process your voice. “I want you to know that no matter what you could never hurt me. You have had years of fighting with me to hurt me and you never have. Not even when you were fully under their control, you have always, in some way, known that you have to protect me. I trust you with every fiber of my being and I can’t stand seeing you doubt yourself.” you could feel the turmoil rolling off of him, the set of his shoulders and lock of his jaw giving his emotions away. Reaching up with your other hand you gently tilted his head so that his eye met yours. Though all of his fear and regret he looked you in the eyes, his shoulders dropping when couldn’t find an ounce of fear or trepidation. He is your soldier, your sunflower, your soulmate and in your eyes he would never be anything else. You quickly smiled at him, giving him a peck on the lips before turning to look at Fury.
“You didn’t see us. We were never here. Delete any video footage you have of us.” You stated leaving no room for argument. “We will be going somewhere to lie low, out of Hydra’s radar. After and only after you are able to assure us that Hydra is no longer a part of Shield will we consider coming back. Even then we will not be a part of Shield, we will be a part of the Avengers, we are done being used as weapons by your organization. I’m sure you can understand our hesitance in trusting Shield after this.” You paused to take a breath, gauging his reaction to your words, when he didn’t interrupt you continued. “I will leave a way to contact us with Steve. Only use it if it is absolutely imperative for us to be involved. Understood?” You saw the edge of Fury’s lip quirk up at your tone before he nodded speaking in an equally firm tone.
“With all of Shield and Hydra’s files now out on the internet there will be a trial and we will need you there.” You closed your eyes for a second breathing in before replying,
“Understood, but you must understand that I refuse for either of us to go to jail for things that we had no choice in, and I will say such to a jury.”
 He sighed, shaking his head,
“I don’t want that either but I want you to be prepared for the storm that is coming your way. We will do whatever we can to help but I can’t guarantee anything. Although it may be easier to convince them of your change in heart if you were seen as a part of the Avengers.”
You glanced over at Bucky, you could tell that he wasn’t crazy about the idea but the tilt of his head at your gaze assured you that if it came to it he would do anything necessary.
“We understand, now we need to leave before anyone can stop us,” you stated, “If you find any information pertaining to my father I would appreciate it if you could send it my way via our mutual acquaintance.” You didn’t wait for his reply before you and Bucky were on your way out of the building. It didn’t take long for you to escape the building, only having to stop a couple of times to hide from any prying eyes. As you made it outside you saw Sam running towards you,
“Cap is hurt, he needs a hospital.” he called out as he neared you. You glanced at Bucky before rushing towards Sam and shouting for him to lead the way. When you got to Steve you could tell that he wasn’t doing great. You looked towards Sam,
“Normally I would say that I could take care of it but I always had the doctors at Hydra double check once we got back to base. I need you to get him to the hospital, Bucky and I can’t be seen in public right now or we would go with you. We will find a new place to stay, and send word to Steve so that he will know how to find us when it's safe.” You clasped his shoulder, “Thank you for taking care of him, it means the world to both of us. You were a huge help and I’m not sure we would have succeeded without you.”
He looked between the two of you, “The feeling is mutual, even if he is a pain in the ass, and tried to kill me on that bridge.” He said while motioning at Bucky. You shrugged
“Well we can’t all be angels like Cap.” you looked down at Steve the worry that you were feeling obvious on your face. You felt Bucky place his hand in yours,
“Take care of him Sam, He’s family.” you heard Bucky say from behind you. You squeezed his hand at the words before nodding and blinking the tears out of your eyes. You gave one last look at him before you felt Bucky tugging on your hand, you had stayed too long already, you needed to leave. You turned away and the two of you headed to your safe house to gather supplies. You would have to be quick, you needed to leave the city and get as far away as you could that night. You looked towards Bucky as you ran, you would be alright, hydra may not be completely dead quite yet but it would take them time to regroup, time that you could use to lay low. The storm was coming, and when it came you would be ready to face it head on.

Tumblr media
oh my man you have no idea how much lore i’ve got. you fool, you’ve given me the excuse to infodump about everything!
(sorry this got super long so i’m making a separate post, also it’s 2am so i’m not gonna format this correctly or do literally anything to it)
i’ll start by explaining the timeline, i find it easiest to categorize it by the different versions of maria that exist in the au.
Tumblr media
for starters, we have regular old canon maria. her deal is basically the same as in canon up until her death. i really just wanted a “maria lives” au but with a twist. so basically the lore is professor gerald didn’t have a lot of confidence in finding a cure for maria via project shadow so he came up with a plan b which involved creating a machine that could upload someone’s mind onto a computer (mainly because that’s just a sci-fi trope i always liked). of course this was more of a last resort kinda deal, but when g.u.n. raided the ark they didn’t exactly have a lot of options. maria was still shot like in canon and she did physically “die” but gerald managed to upload her consciousness before she actually died. unfortunately the project was still very experimental and maria wasn’t actually able to respond to any of their tests to see if it worked, leading gerald to believe it had failed. thus allowing the plot of sa2 to still happen.
so the next maria in the timeline is cyber maria. this is just the version of maria that’s living in a computer on the ark... ...for 50 years.... ........alone. unlike shadow, she was completely conscious for this entire time which meant an awful lot of time alone with her thoughts. her memories weren’t totally together at the beginning and it takes her an awfully long time to put everything together but once she finally does she’s not quite the same and her personality shifts quite a bit. she still holds the same love for humanity and her family, but she IS tired of being nice, she DOES want to go apeshit! her main beef is with g.u.n. for literally killing her and everything else they did. she’s honestly quite pissed (rightfully so) but she can’t really do anything about it so she honestly just spends 50 years worrying about her family. she doesn’t know if shadow or her grandfather survived after everything that happened and at this point she has no idea how long it’s been.
50 years pass and the events of sa2 take place exactly as they do in canon (can’t fix perfection babey!) and although she’s on the ark, maria has no way of knowing that any of it’s happening. so it’s not actually until a little while after the events of shadow the hedgehog(2005) that anything actually happens maria wise. so the scene is eggman is looking into his grandfather’s research to see if he can get any ideas that would help him beat sonic and co when he comes across the files about the whole plan b project (lmao sorry i don’t actually have a good name for what he might’ve called it). he get’s real curious about it and decides to head back up to the ark and check it out. one thing leads to another and he manages to have a conversation with maria and she’s just thrilled to know that the outside world still exists, she also makes fun of him because “lmfao what kind of name is eggman?” after all she’s still mentally a teenager. eggman mentions that he’s quite skilled in making robots and could build a body for her back on earth and maria is all for ALL of that.
which leads us into metal maria. as soon as she has an actual physical body again eggman explains to her how long it’s been, who he actually is (literally her younger cousin lmao) and a bit of what’s been going on in the worlds, he lets it slip that he may have blown up the moon a little bit and gets thoroughly scolded on that. he also mentions that him and shadow may sorta kinda be enemies and shadow maybe is working for organization that killed her, which every bit of that makes her pissed. she decides to join forces with eggman so that he can help her take down g.u.n. since he’s not exactly on their good side. she also agrees to help deal with sonic on occasion but she doesn’t do much because “what how old is he? like 15 or something? nah dude become mortal enemies with an adult like a normal person.” despite everything, the protective older sister instinct is still strong within her and she’s super against picking fights with kids (especially ones that are friends rivals with her bro) on the subject of shadows friends, she does not like rouge, omega she doesn’t mind as much but still doesn’t like that much. she meets rouge a while before she’s actually reunited with shadow and they don’t exactly have a good first impression. maria assumes that rouge convinced shadow to join g.u.n. “because why else would he do something that stupid, he’s dumb but he can’t be that dumb?” and rouge just doesn’t buy maria’s backstory and assumes eggman only made her to mess with shadow. also rouge is lowkey jealous of maria because she’s got that v good and strong sisterly bond with shadow and DAMNIT she want’s that! so the two of them are basically enemies for a while until maria finally manages to reunite with shadow and he’s honestly just really fed up with them constantly fighting and arguing so their relationship dies down to less of enemies and more of a petty rivalry. also at some point during all that maria decides that metal sonic is also her brother now and there’s nothing he can do about it (spoilers: he actually really enjoys her affection but tries not to show it)
over time maria and metal become kinda a neutral party between sonic and eggman. and honestly with maria’s constant lecturing, eggman kinda tones it down on the world domination deal and becomes more of a dr. doofenshmirtz type villain because it’s funnier that way. (sorry i ONLY make an au if it’s wholesome) he kinda only keeps up the villain gig for the press and because it’s kinda his brand at this point.
which leads us into neo metal maria, 10 years in the future maria takes over the eggman empire. it’s 110% for show. she puts on this big facade of being a villain with megamind level dramatics but she never does anything other than screw over g.u.n., which team dark has long since stopped working with at this point, finally. seriously that sucked what the heck where you thinking sega? whatever i fixed it for them ;)
in the future of this au (which i don’t focus on a whole lot because i like drawing them as a bunch of kids just screwing around, god i’m so smart sega could never) since eggman isn’t a problem everyone’s whole deal is just dealing with other threats and also just a lot of adventuring. every once and a while some old god will try and destroy the world again as per usual and maria will actually step in to help. because of this and the fact that she’s not actually violent, maria is actually quite adored by the public. which is literally her goal, she’s not a villain she’s an entertainer!
and there’s a whole lot more to this au because i actually focus on pretty much every character and how this all plays out for them. i have a different take on how some games played out with her being there (mainly 06 and forces because they’re not great even tho i love them, but her being there made them funny) but yeah i’ve put a LOT of thought into this au and it means a whole lot to me. this is literally just a summary of eveything that happens. over time i’ll expand on this more.
but hot diggity shit, it’s 2am. so i’m just gonna wrap this up with some sketches of the gal!

First Impressions: RWBY v8c10, “Ultimatum”
How many ultimatums will be delivered and will anyone listen?
(Flashing-lights warning.   I hope this is the "there's no practical way to negate all possible risk so we're being cautious"  kind of warning, and not the "fuck you epileptics bring on the cool strobe effects"  kind. )
Ironwood, entirely alone.  I am reminded that Watts thought Plan Evil could seriously fail if he called on Vacuo for aid.  Could Vacuo seriously have gotten enough forces here in time to help?   Or was it sharing information and alliances, in itself, that would've been an effective defense?  We'll never know because that just isn't how Atlas rolls.
Those soldiers are terrified in that particular “our boss has been casually shooting underlings who disappoint him” way.
Why do you *care* about imprisoning Qrow and Robyn? They're no threat to you, you have a giant Grimm army destroying your kingdom, let them go fight it!  And his focus is on Qrow in particular.   ....Ah.  He must believe Qrow did kill Clover.
"Fuck you epileptics"  it is.  Why do studios do this?  I don't need fancy special effects if they're going to hurt other people, thanks.
What WAS that???   Slowed down, it looks like....lightning struck the whale and it exploded? what?
The bomb hasn't gone off, there's Winter and the Ace Ops carrying it. oh no.
what?
green in there. Penny?
Are they dead?
It's...like a nuke. A nuke just detonated.
No. Not Penny.  That was Oz green magic.
Everyone can't be dead, we'd have no show.
Something glowing in the ruins.  Someone moving in the smoke, carrying the Lamp.  Neo?
She's *skipping merrily* with her umbrella and the lamp.  What the fuck.  What happened between her and Jinn?
So Winter and the Ace Ops are fine,  the whale is dead, we don't know about anyone inside. Okay. Oookay.
Watts sounds stunned, but only for a second until he pulls his armor together. "She'll come back."
*watching villain infighting with popcorn*
You know, I despise Watts, but it's impossible not to admire that ability to fast talk with melodramatic emoting while seconds from death.  "Presentation!", as Megamind would say.
...on the other hand,  there's a point where melodramatic fast talk stops convincing your subject and just pisses them off. And you have now passed it.
"You can't just be deserving, you have to be worthy".  He really is a social Darwinist. And what is it he called her? A bloody what?
Oh, wow,  I 100% thought she was going to kill him.
Is she....crying????  Even Watts looks stunned.  And somewhat disbelieving to be alive.
JOYR are okay.  Oscar looks agonized, holding his head,  but quickly gets a grip on himself.  Merge? No merge?
...That's odd.  No one thought to stop and look for the Lamp in the ruins of the whale?  We know it's gone, but they don't know that.  Shouldn't recovering it be really damn important?
YAY FINALLY DISCUSSION and championing from Oscar. I figured Ren would be the one to notice.  And oof, Oz was taking the brunt of the torture after all, without taking control?  Regardless, I'm very relieved that he's still around.
The cane stored kinetic energy? From all the lifetimes he spent carrying it, moving around with it?  That's kind of neat.  Doesn't particularly make sense, but it doesn't have to, it's magic.
Emerald could've run away while they were stopped to talk about Oz. No one was looking at her. But she didn't move or even lower her hands.  Listening and thinking. Despite what she says, she wants to join the heroes.
Citizens packed into subway tunnels but not allowed to occupy most of the space, lined up in bleachers on the sides under guard.  That doesn't look remotely practical or  sustainable, but it sure looks very military.  (Seriously.  At least a quarter of those people really need to go to the bathroom right now.  Babies need diaper changes.  Children should be having screaming meltdowns.   The writers handwave a lot more than they should sometimes.  )
The whale is gone, but what about all the other Grimm?  Shouldn't they be attacking the tunnels? This is far more of a negative-emotions draw than Mantle, pre-or-post election.
Ironwood why do you have to be SO DUMB.  You ought to know damn well who blew up that whale (perhaps that's why you dropped the subject so abruptly).  And you certainly ought to know Watts "betrayed" you, because you never should've let him near technology to begin with.  Or thought that beating him up would get him to help you.
Still on with the raise-Atlas idea, I see.  It's the only one you have.
What is you thought needed to be done with Qrow,  Ironwood?  He holds no power beyond skill as a Huntsman, no leverage to help you reach your goals.   Is there a plan here, or just nonsensical personal vengeance?   You didn't even care about Clover enough to justify that level of investment in revenge, he was just an operative.
Ohhh, he does think Qrow has leverage over Penny.  I suppose it's true too, through Ruby.  But it's still a dumb plan.  And Winter isn't on board with it in the slightest. She needs to get the hell out of there.
Harriet, you backstabber.  That isn't even remotely accurate. Is that going to pay off for you, Bree, sending your homicidally unhinged CO into an even greater rage?  Now you'll get to be the leader of the Ace Ops, so I guess so.
...ships?  Allies?  Cavalry, now?  Oh, the evacuation dropships!  Ugh, he's going to order them shot down isn't he. He’s just spotted his point of leverage.  Someone get this man a white cat to pet while he sits at his desk.
NEO I LOVE YOU
Oho!  Did she not ask a question, after all the fan debate over whether or not she can?   She certainly could have - no one will know until Jinn is summoned again.    And the Lamp is still a powerful bargaining chip either way.
Aww Oscar was offering to hug Ruby there for a moment.  See, Nora, that's what someone who actually wants hugs looks like.
Ah, fuck, Ironwood's going to straight up threaten to massacre everyone in Mantle.  Winter, Marrow, your time to defect is NOW.
"If there is no Mantle then there is no reason for you  not to work with me" uh yeah, buddy, no one but you thinks it works like that.
Only one ultimatum, but it was certainly a doozy.  (EDIT:  Well, maybe two. Does Neo’s count? She didn’t make any threats.)
Well! I did like the episode, though I continue to be greatly annoyed at the lack of any lines or screen time for my favorite characters. I’d never have expected Salem and the whale to be wiped out mid-season just like that.  A lot of people are going to call it bad writing, but I think it’s very much in line with how these writers like to subvert traditional story structure.  It would be awful writing if Salem were destroyed this way, but they took pains last episode to show us that isn’t the case.
(How long will it take Salem to revive?  Hazel said a few hours at most, when he killed her.  Ozma’s magic blew her into atoms and that will probably take significantly longer. But I’m sure she’ll be Voldemorting her way back by the end of this volume.)
