If you asked him, Detective Gavin Reed would say he’d well earned the next twenty-four hours of blissful peace-and-quiet he planned to spend sequestered in his apartment until his next shift. It was pushing 11pm, he’d spent the last three hours staring at a terminal screen, and he had a backlog of about ten shows he wanted to catch up on at home. He was going to eat, shower, and fall asleep in front of his TV if it was the last thing he did.
He’d just pulled up in front of a 24-hour convenience store on his way home when the call came in on the scanner. Noise complaint. Originating from the park a block over from his place. He knew it. Had been invited to a few late-night get togethers there, himself. Knew the kind of people who were likely involved.
There was no reason to get himself involved. This was something for the bottom-of-the-totem-pole late-shift rookies to handle. God knows he’d done his fair share of obnoxious milk runs in his time. Except.
Except that he knew his neighbors. Blue collar, dispossessed, and who only held cops about two steps above androids in esteem. If alcohol was flowing, and it would be, they’d be loud and rowdy and these days, itching for a fight.
It wasn’t Gavin’s business. He’d earned this night off. He barely liked his neighbors.
Huffing through his nose, he reached for his police scanner and told the dispatcher he’d check it out.
——-**________________________
Based on the complaint (a noise complaint, remember?), Gavin had rolled up expecting thumping music and a giant crowd of bodies. Instead what he could see from his car were about ten individuals, all chatting and laughing loudly enough that their noise echoed from the tall buildings that corralled them on all sides.
When he slammed his car door shut behind him, it echoed just the same.
There were three people crowding a bench at the edge of the park, and one recognized Gavin just as Gavin recognized him.
“Detective Reed!” his neighbor—Terrence, Gavin thought he was called. Or Terry maybe—called to him. “What brings you here?”
“You know damn fucking well what brings me,” Gavin answered, strolling up casually. He’d come to avoid conflict, but he wanted to get this shit done as fast as he could. “DPD has had noise complaints for this little party you’re having,” he informed Terry. “Time to wrap it up.”
Terry tilted his head back in a laugh. “Fuck ‘em!” he declared boldly. “C’mon man, it’s Saturday night!”
Gavin turned his attention to the larger group of partiers, farther away from the street. They were gathered in a knot of activity, bustling around each other, cheering as if they were watching a football game. Something niggled at Gavin’s awareness.
“What’s that?” Gavin asked, stepping towards them.
Terry and his group groaned and made various noises of protest. “Let them have their fun while they can,” one of Terry’s friends suggested, sucking on a cigarette. “Might be their last chance to let loose.”
As Gavin approached, he realized what he was seeing. Six or seven people, surrounding a figure lying prone in the grass of the park. Gavin could make out a slim male figure before the group began kicking at it again.
“Hey! Hey!” Gavin yelled, cutting through the group like an arrow. He grasped at the figure they were laying into, managing to grab a handful of silky fabric and heavily heaved the man to his feet. He saw two well-dressed feet, though one was twisted backwards in horrifying injury. The crowd around him booed as he pushed their victim up against a nearby tree trunk to keep him upright.
It was then that Gavin realized. He wasn’t man-handling some poor victim of an assault, but a being of plastic and programming. The spinning red LED belied the bedraggled figure. It was an android, heavy in Gavin’s hold.
Not just any android, Gavin realized, as he got a better look at the thing. It was Connor. Anderson’s plastic pet.
Gavin blinked at it in disbelief. He had seen this thing in action by now, and he knew there was no reason that a drunken group of humans would have been able to overpower it. There was no reason for it to be hanging heavily between Gavin and the bare bark of a tree, its head dangling weakly like some mere mortal. It must have allowed itself to be brought here, though Gavin couldn’t imagine why.
“Jesus,” Gavin mumbled at the android, supporting it back against the bare tree of the park. Terrence, or Terry, or whoever was still chattering in his ear, a bunch of insensate nonsense.
Gavin sized the android up critically. One of its legs was twisted around, its foot faced the wrong direction. Its clothes were a mess, which was unlike it—Gavin had noticed it preferred to look put together—and several fingers on each hand were bent out of shape. Its face was bleeding plastic white through the illusion of skin, underneath the blue stain of Thirium. One of its eyes had formed an electric blue cataract, and hell if Gavin knew what the fuck that meant. This highly specialized android prototype was meant to be cutting edge in both investigation and combat, and for some reason it had allowed a group of drunken humans to beat it within an inch of its life. Had made Gavin responsible for keeping it alive now.
“You stupid fuck,” Gavin growled absently as he looked at it, still holding the android up with one hand. And the android, mindless of its mangled fingers, reached one hand up to clasp weakly at Gavin’s wrist. It looked up at Gavin, warm brown eyes from beneath a fall of limp brown hair.
Gavin had never cared for androids. Give ‘em all a bullet in the head, as far as he was concerned. But he’d never understood the people that liked torturing them. That liked pulling them apart the way psychopaths did with their sister’s Barbies, before finally turning their torture to puppies and kittens and other things that couldn’t fight back. Maybe that was the feeling he had in his chest as he looked at Connor now.
“Alright,” Gavin said loudly, feeling a million miles away. “Clear everyone out, before I have to call this in.”
Terry guffawed in his ear, as if this was the funniest thing he’d heard in his life. Fucking drunks.
Gavin turned to him, eyes narrowed. “Did you hear me? I said get these motherfuckers out of here! Do you want to spend the night in handcuffs?”
Terry gaped, but one of his companions picked up the slack. “For what?” she asked. “We didn’t do nothin’. They’re just…things! We didn’t do nothing they didn’t deserve!”
Gavin narrowed his glare on her. “This thing is property of the Detroit Police, dipshit. So do as I say, and get everyone out of here.”
For a moment they stared at each other. Then, wide-eyed, but with a curt, terrified nod, the woman turned away from him and started rounding up her friends. This included Terry, luckily enough.
Gavin turned his attention back to Connor. “Fuck,” he grumbled. So much for a quiet night, it wasn’t like he could leave the thing like this. “Can you walk?” Gavin asked it urgently. It was still leaning against him with an enormous amount of weight. He glanced back at his car, before maneuvering himself under the android's arm and taking most of its weight on his shoulders. “Fuck,” he repeated under the strain, “come on, you waste of space.” He elbowed Connor into motion, and together, the two of them began a shambling stagger in the direction of Gavin’s car.

Can we talk about the redacted demon's horns please?
Because as we know Caelum, Vega and Scorpius canonically have horns since their icon has their horns on it (and when describing Caelum Gavin mentions him having horns) but then demons like Gavin, Camelopardalis, Avior and Regulus have different things as their icons and have things that imply that they mostly look human
For example: Gavin always goes out in public with no issues with breaking convert
Camelopardalis went into the same elevator as baby #2 while fully visible
When starlight first saw Avior they asked if he was a dreamwalker, implying that they couldn't tell that he was a demon straight away
And Regulus is invisible so who the fuck knows
So I'm really confused on how this works
You can say that demons that spend more time in elegy would present themselves more human-like to not break convert while demons who spend more time in aria would stay true to their demonic appearance
Bit that doesn't quite make sense
Sure, it makes sense for some demons, Caelum is an empathy deamon so he's invisible to most humans and wouldn't have to worry about breaking convert, Vega couldn't care less about humans and most likely spends his time in elegy cloaked, Camelopardalis is in the memory modification team where he has to interact with a lot of humans and Gavin is an incubus that spends most of his time on elegy and around people
But then there's Avior who works as a stewart in aria and spends as little time as he can in elegy
He can just get energy from passer by's don't you think he could just be cloaked during that
Also he's a huge demon rights activist and it really seems like he wouldn't subscribe to the idea of changing his appearance to make humans less uncomfortable
It makes sense for demons like Gavin and Camelopardalis who are low-key human-washed but Avior?
Also, Scorpius is an incubus, you'd think he'd have to spend significant time around humans
And here's the thing - I don't even know if all demons can shape shift!
Correct me if I'm wrong but we've only heard about demons shape shifting from incubi/succubi and I'm not sure if that applies to all demons
When Avior talks about demons and humans in the first part of the season finale he says that demons can "change their form" but that could just mean them changing their form from physical to spectral in aria
I honestly hope they can because then that would solve the whole "one of them ages and one of them doesn't" when talking about demon-human ships
and also because in my personal designs of the demons, because I really like adding monsterous elements to characters and you cannot convince me to draw a demon character without any horns, I made this headcannon that the demons that don't canonically have horns just shape shift their demonic features away when interacting with unempowered people
Which is kinda debunked since in the second Gavin episode there's no magic sounds to imply that he shape shifted before he opens the door to Guy
But I guess we've never heard a character shape shift (at least in the demonic way not the shifter way) so maybe it doesn't make noise? But I highly doubt that
This still resulted in me having to make the aforementioned demons generally look more human-like so that the change between human form and demon form isn't too jarring but hey win some, loose some
I really wanted to go all out, not just horns but tails, claws, oddly colored skin, oddly colored scleras, fangs, pointed ears ect
But I could really only do that with some demons, but hey, the others still get horns, claws and a tail! (At least while they're not in front of unempowered humans)

🗝️ favorite antagonist?
I'm assuming from AA since we share the fandom :)
I love Dahlia. In a series where most villains are people in power, and we escalated from legendary prosecutors to chiefs of police to TV celebrities that hire assassins to international spies to straight up queens... Dahlia is just a normal woman. A woman so consumed by bitterness against everyone in her life that she spreads misery wherever she goes. A woman so determined to get her way that she cheated death out of spite. A woman who, in her sloppiness to cover up after herself, killed her step-sister, manipulated her "boyfriend" to kill himself on the stand, poisoned another man into a coma, traumatized her cousin, killed her ex to make him shut up, nearly poisoned her new boyfriend out of annoyance, and nearly killed her other cousin in the body of her mother/her own aunt. It's not like Von Karma or Ga'ran whose actions got the biggest consequences due to their reach: Dahlia simply would not stop. And this is not accounting for all the emotional cruelty she displays, like reveling in the idea that Maya might have killed herself because it makes Phoenix suffer. She's not a magnificent bastard the likes of von Karma and Kristoph Gavin, but her sheer hatred makes her a memorable foe.
AA uses the "sweet woman is secretly a bitch" trope a lot, ever since April May. But Dahlia goes above and beyond because she is genuinely scary. Yeah her spirit form is one of the creepiest moments in the OG trilogy, but this sprite alone
Tumblr media
gives me chills. You know she is seething, but you don't see a thing, she's standing there, unmoving. It's worse than her white death glare, or her sneer.
And she has some badass lines too, like "And my profession? Permanently retired". (she apparently died a painful death, too...) Or man, how her first testimony in 3-5 after she revealed herself has her theme! And speaking of which, Distant Traces of Beauty is a beautiful piece that conveys so many emotions depending on the context! It sounds both sweet and empty. How do you do that?
Tumblr media
Her design is 10/10 too. Her giant moe eyes look almost uncanny with how big and black they are (going by her original sprite, not the HD one). She's so pink and frilly, but her sash is floating, which is both unnatural and makes her look like a butterfly (I think they used this concept again for Nahyuta, but they could make it flutter for him lol). The red hair is... admittedly a bit of a tired trope to indicate an evil character lol, but considering that her entire family is made of black-haired people and some brunettes, it makes you wonder if she deliberately dyed her hair to distance herself from her mother's clan, that person who deemed her worthless...
Tumblr media
also I just love this animation. it's neat. T&T has some great spritework.
Ah, I could go on. I love her. Fucked up evil woman with a tragic past that doesn't even begin to excuse all the awful things she has done 🥰 she deserved being roasted into oblivion 🥰
oh yeah simon keyes is also a fave of mine for similar reasons as to dahlia, except he didn't even personally hurt anyone. a king

Rewrite The Stars
Chapter Fourteen
Summary: One photo changes your whole life, when you accidentally bump into a celebrity and the world starts to believe that you are a couple.
Notes:
In this chapter, we have an extra character called Enzo, whom I'd like you to imagine as the actor Enzo Vogrincic. And for those who enjoy the fanfic, I appreciate if you reblog or like. Thank you to everyone who is following the fic.
chapter thirteen
Tumblr media
You feel your eyes welling up with tears as you consider how to respond to Pedro Pascal's declaration, but it's what's necessary. You feel your eyes welling up with tears as you consider how to respond to Pedro Pascal's declaration, but it's what's necessary. You take a step forward, bringing your body closer to Pedro. He watches you as if trying to understand what's going on in your mind. You take a long breath and then lean in, kissing him. To anyone watching from afar, it might seem like you're reconciling.
"You know, there's nothing I want more than to have a romance with you. But I don't think I can risk feeling that for you right now. I'm your fan. I like you for your great acting work and for the way I fell for you during this fake relationship. But I don't trust you, Mr. Pascal. I wish I did. But I don't. Now I need you to move on. I know I'm trying to move on." You speak seriously, trying to convince yourself that what you're doing is right. Even though deep down you don't think you're making a mistake. But maybe, just maybe, you two don't belong together.
"If that's what you want. I'll do my best to move on. Have a good day, Miss Y/L/N." Pascal's facial expression looked sad, which almost broke your heart. As he walks away from you and leaves the ice cream shop, you feel like you should go after him and beg him to forget what you said. But you simply call the ice cream shop owner and let him know he can come back. You buy a tub of chocolate ice cream to take home and then head to Enzo's car.
"From your expression and the way Pedro left the ice cream shop, I gather that you two didn't reconcile. There's still time to change your mind, I hope you know that." Enzo speaks, and you look at him disapprovingly at the idea of going after Pascal. Perhaps if you were in a romantic comedy, now would be the time for you to chase after Pedro Pascal.
"Look, it was already difficult enough to turn down one of the most charming men I've ever met. Don't rub it in. Besides, I don't think I'll be good company." You speak as you look at your ice cream, imagining yourself just eating it.
"I'll take you home then. But I still think you should take back whatever you said and give the two of you a chance. You two seem to get along and like each other." Enzo speaks as he fastens his seatbelt and you do the same. In the car, the radio is playing a melodious song. The car moves and you watch the street. And then, your eyes catch Pedro. He's back to filming, even though he seems upset. And you realize you're waving goodbye to any opportunity to be with him. Which seems foolish.
"If I told you that what Pedro and I lived was a lie. That I never dated him, that it was all so the press would think you two are together. What would you say?" You ask Enzo as you continue to look at Pedro from afar. Enzo seems to notice that you're looking at Pedro and parks near where Pedro is.
"I would say that you both act very well, because you definitely seem in love with each other. And I would tell you to stop being stubborn and go after the guy who can make you happy." Enzo's words seem to make sense to you. You look at him and then get out of the car. Without any plan, pondering how you're going to retract what you just said. Your eyes meet Pascal's, and he seems to understand that you want to talk to him. However, perhaps he doesn't want to talk to you because he continues with what he's doing, basically ignoring you. You feel like you deserve this. And you turn around, as if you're going to leave. But then something inside you tells you that it's worth trying to fix this. So, you basically shout from where you are what you want to say.
"I'm a coward, actually; I think we could make it work, but who guarantees anything these days. And I know it's crazy to talk to you in the middle of the street as if we weren't in public and you working, but if you really still want me…" You don't even need to keep speaking or rather shouting towards Pedro's filming crew, because he comes toward you and kisses you. In front of everyone. With people recording.
"I guess that means we're officially dating now." Pedro says between kisses as you both realize you're surrounded by his fans and people in general. How embarrassing.
"I just declared my love for you in front of a bunch of people. You better get ready to marry me. But for now, go back to work. I'll message you later and we can continue this in a more private setting." You say, giving Pascal a quick peck on the lips before heading towards Enzo's car. On the way to your apartment, Enzo teased you about making a cliché romantic movie scene, even though you used to criticize those same scenes when you and he watched romance movies together. Apparently, now you understand what it's like to like someone so much and want everyone to know about it.

It has come to my attention that people often don't consider I'm poly and I am a multi-shipper meaning that if I see a range of characters, I will devise a way for them all to be happy together in some way, shape or form, with each other, this includes redacted so…
Bratty Telepath's Poly Redacted Stuff/Multi-shipping shit
(I am a disgrace for not coming up w a better title)*
In this, I will be giving you, dear reader, my poly headcanons and thoughts regarding the redacted universe (this will probably come up again as time goes on). If that's not your cuppa and you prefer monogamous content then that's great! I'll just be over here making people have feelings for each other to make myself happy and you can be over there! Also none of this is organized. It's me rambling off about the things that invade my brain
David /Angel/Asher - happens after David meets and dates Angel and he's able to actually loosen up enough to see that Ash has always cared for him before he starts realizing "oh shit, I'm in love with my best friend" before they go on a bout of him avoiding Asher to avoid his feelings as Asher think David's drifting away again. Angel is who pulls these idiots back together and is like "fix yo shit".
Darlin/Sweetheart/Sam - is long running and went on for a while before Darlin left Dahlia. They were highschool sweethearts who were still dating while SH was at DAMN. At the same time, SH was also seeing Sam unofficially before he got turned and dropped out. Both these bitches really ran and SH was like "I am never letting you shits go" when they met again. SH/Darlin is very much a danger duo situation while SH/Sam is a flirty old roommates situation.
The DAMN polycule - them bitches hanging out and FL was like "what if we dated each other" cuz like they were all not actually seeing anyone they figured "eh, we can try", it started out as a joke...but then they caught feelings and now they're all dating :3
Aaron/Bäbe(aka Smartass)/Asher - Bäbe's old job was with Aaron where they met Asher and when they got a new job, they started dating Aaron. Asher and Aaron know about each other and hang but they're not dating
DAMN polycule/Lovely/Vincent - I think Lovely should know more people and more people should know Lovely. I also think Vincent and Gavin have fucked and they both push Damien's buttons and Huxley has them both on a leash. They'd all be cute together, I know it.
Milo/Lasko/SH - All of my loves, in one ship? Absolutely. After inversion, Lasko started talking to Milo when he was isolating from the group because Milo made him feel bigger than he ever felt when they met and not long afterwards, Lasko ended getting pursued by Milo and SH. It's a very fun relationship.
Sam/FL/Darlin - *Ahem* FL finds Sam w Lovely's help and they ask him to teach them about healing magic. He takes them on as their tutor because he recognizes the same spark he had in them and they both start falling for each other. Darlin is chill w it and doesn't join in the relationship until they get to know FL better and are like "you are amazing and I am going to keep you close forever now".
Milo/Darlin/David/Asher - THEY ALL USED TO BE BEST FRIENDS GROWING UP AND NOW THEY'RE IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER AS ADULTS. That's it. That's the plot. That's the idea.
David/SH/Milo - Milo realizes he likes David when he talks to SH about him and SH's like "you should tell him then" but Milo's hesitant because they're not as close as they used to be. David however does like Milo but he also likes SH because of their small back and forths with each other and how much he respects their dedication so SH who's noticing all of this is like "He likes you, and he likes you. I think both of you are idiots but you're hot and have a good personality sooo let's all date".
Asher/FL - They're so good together, I promise. Asher and FL bounce energy between one another like a particle accelerator of sorts so they multiply each other's vibes but they both know how recognize and help each other through their shit.
Guy/Seer(Honey)/Morgan - Honey has been a seer obscura all along and was fine dating Guy cuz he was unempowered and they never needed to worry about him finding out about seers but when they have the inversion vision, they meet Morgan who's like "I can help". Morgan requires stress relief which Guy is great at, and Guy+Morgan are also amazing at helping slow down Honey.
SH/Vince/Lovely - These three have a dyanmic where Vince used to get in trouble with the department and used to flirt w SH a lot but SH always kept him ar a distance cuz he didn't have any damn sense. Then SH started liking the person Vince was when he was actually with Lovely. Vince has always liked SH but they just never visibly returned his feelings so he thought they weren't interested but Lovely was like "maybe, talk and like figure that shit out so my boyfriend can stop acting like a fuckin' loser". Vince's dyanmic w SH is absolutely flirty back and forths in contrast to complete adoration of Lovely.
That's all for now, I'm tired of writing but if you're curious about my thoughts on a ship, shoot it my way in a ask🤷🏾‍♂️

9, 10 and 17 for your fic wrapped pls 🥺❤️
My pleasure! Here you go 💜
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
Okay, so romantically speaking, this year I've only posted fics for Melizabeth in different constellations - Elizabeth/Meliodas, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas, Elizabeth Liones/Meliodas, and Liz/Meliodas. Out of those four, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas was the most fun to write. I just really enjoy exploring that era and that pairing to be honest. I mean, enemies-to-lovers in a holy war whose love story was so revolutionary that the gods decided to kill their own heirs?
Liz/Meliodas takes second place because Liz and the Danafor era deserves some more love - but I've only written one fic with Liz and it wasn't that much focus on her/her relationship with Mel in that one.
But if we're talking pairing as in two people with any kind of relationship (romantic, platonic, whatever) then it's hands down Meliodas & Zeldris. I mean, it's the demon bros, do I need to say more? I am, personally, a huge sucker for siblingship of any kind in media. (Maybe because I have a lot of siblings myself? Maybe because my aroace self feel a bigger connection to those relationships even tho I really enjoy romantic ones too). Plus, there is so much fun dynamics to explore with these two; Mel and Zel's childhood, the betrayal, reconciling after everything, or other stuff completely (<- I'm actually low-key working on an au where Mel and Zel are goddesses and Ellie is a demon and it's been really interesting to figure out the brothers' dynamic without the canon betrayal, also they're twins in that one fyi).
10. What work was the quickest to write?
Ooh now that's an interesting question. Let's see... The fastest ones were probably all written in February to be honest, because that was my most productive writing month (I was also doing Febuwhump which added pressure and motivation to complete the fics quick lol).
There All Along was probably the one I finished the quickest. It was written in February, within a day, and also one of my shortest fics.
My Love, It Burns was probably the quickest longer/multichapter fic I wrote this year. It was written during the end of February, also within a day I think, and, well, inspiration just struck. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to write, and was excited to try writing two different endings to the same fic. (Plus I wanted to write the endings close together so they matched up well).
But also telling how quick a fic is to write is hard lol usually I write down the idea and maybe even make the document but then don't actually work on it until days/weeks/months later...
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
This is actually a difficult question. Because while I do love writing about Meliodas (he's my blorbo, my baby - the only fic out out 25 that he wasn't tagged as a character still had him featured in the background and as a "topic"). But I also feel like I tend to write other characters' pov more than his (possibly because he's mostly the one getting whumped lol). So Meliodas is a character I like to write stories of, but if were talking point of view and all, I liked writing Merlin and what's-his-face... Gavin!
Merlin is actually a character I find hard to write (but hey it can be a fun challenge) but also fun to write. I especially love how she can be like a bridge of knowledge between what the other characters know of Meliodas/demons and the truth (that she knows). Writing from Merlin's pov also allows me to really tap into the age and history of Meliodas and her :)
Gavin (my oc from One Man's Beast, aka the Monster Sins AU) was fun to write because to be honest outsider's pov is really funny when the Seven Deadly Sins are involved (the chaos! lol). Also it allowed me to explore the AU in a better way. (<- speaking of, I'm playing around a bit with the outsider's pov in my next Monster Sins AU fic too, because a part of that one is from Dreyfus and/or Hendy's pov)
Anyway! ao3 wrapped (ask game) <- if anyone wanna send me more questions :)

I've just been forced to face the fact that Legends fans are a minority and it's really depressing, so now I'm going to think about my ridiculously self-indulgent Rogue Squadron Vestara AU.
The more think about it, the more I question how in-character it actually is for her to choose to do this. If the idea is to choose her own path, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for her to choose a path that still puts her in a specific defined command structure where she doesn't actually have much freedom. Then again, Rogue Squadron historically isn't known for being particularly disciplined.
I guess if all she's trying to do is find herself. In canon we don't get to see her piloting much, but as far as I remember she enjoys the first flight she takes in Ship. I don't think it's too much of a stretch for her to want to exercise her piloting skill more, especially since the Lost Tribe don't really seem to use any fighters, and the helms of those shitty old Corporate Sector frigates would more likely be reserved for at least Sabers.
She enjoys flying, it's not a skill she's had much of a chance to use - at least not in regular ships - and she's trying to explore herself in new ways and stuff. I think it makes enough sense.
In terms of strict command structures, I think it would make a lot of difference for her that in a regular military, everyone isn't constantly plotting to stab each other in the back.
And, like, at this point Syal's more familiar with treason and knowing when you need to defy the command structure than Wedge was at her age. All that LotF angst has to have been good for something, and I've already talked about some of my headcanons for what happened to her after she ended up among the Jedi in Fury.
I'm operating under the vague assumption that this story is supposed to be continuitous (if that's even a word) to Guiding Star, which is the theoretical story that details the events that Syal and Wedge and Tycho and Gavin went through while Revelation but mostly Invincible happened. An important part of her character in LotF is that by Fury, she's come to question her own judgement as much as she questions her superiors, and I haven't planned it very much, but I assume part of her arc in Guiding Star involves her resolving that, and that she now believes she has enough experience to determine for herself whether the current government is or isn't worth spending lives for.
(Side note: 44 ABY is the year Syal turns 27, which makes her probably the same age here as Wedge is in the first X-Wing book, and I love that symmetry, trivial though it is.)
I've been thinking of it as Vestara actually joining the Rogues three or four months after FotJ (on a ten-month in-universe calendar), so by now Ves has had plenty of time to gain experience with X-Wings, and learn from most of the best pilots alive. Also, at this point, Syal's had enough time to consider Wynn Dorvan's decisions as the next Chief of State and decide the GA under him is worth spending lives for. He is a genuinely good guy, FotJ just puts him in bad situations constantly.
According to at least Luke, Daala was doing a fine job until FotJ. Syal wouldn't have agreed with Daala's actions during FotJ, but in the timeskip, at least, I think Syal would have probably continued to lead the version of the Rogues that she inherited at the end of the Second Galactic Civil War.
(Second side note: I'd like some kind of story that actually demonstrates Daala having done a good job as Chief of State.)
The other pilots on Rogue Squadron at this point are a point of much questioning.
I'm going with the idea that there was another reorganization of the squadron after the end of FotJ, to update the roster. At least half the point of Rogue Squadron is political symbolism and representation and stuff, and there are some educated guesses to be made from that.
In addition to Syal herself, a convenient addition is Zueb Zan, the Sullustan who was her gunner when she flew Alephs. That's a relationship Syal already has, and what little there is to see of him in canon makes me like him enough.
The other canon character I can think of to add here is Drathan Forge, Inyri's great-nephew who shows up briefly at the end of Outcast, when they have to blow up the ancient artifacts beneath the mines of Kessel before said artifacts blow up the planet. In that scene, Drathan claims to be a skilled pilot, and says he has provisional Academy acceptance, and that he'd have to keep his grades up for another year. So the end of FotJ is about when he'd be getting in. If this is a few months after that, I'd find it acceptable for him to get into the Rogues on the basis of skill and family history. Hells, Inyri didn't have any formal training.
Anyway, the implicitly successful diplomatic reintegration of at least the major players of the Confederation during FotJ leads to the roster including a token Bothan and also a token Commenorian. The whole Treaty of Vontor issue results in a token Klatooinian or something. Syal herself is Corellian, obviously.
Drathan, I expect, is a representative of the various corporate enterprises currently operated by Lando. I think in Outcast, Lando has a line about how he's selling to the private sector since the SGCW (maybe before that), and if I recall correctly that implies that he's potentially enabling stuff like YVH droids to end up in the hands of enemies of the Alliance.
I'd buy the Alliance having someone who's from Kessel, another one of Lando's operations, in Rogue Squadron as an attempt to convince Tendrando Arms to be more loyal to them.
Anyway, Vestara's role in this is as both a token Jedi and a token ex-Sith. She's not ready to commit to the Jedi path yet, but if she doesn't fully leave the Order and instead is still being trained by Luke on the side, they might play her up as proof that despite the Jedi Order leaving the Alliance's authority and stuff, they haven't abandoned the Alliance completely. That would be especially important in the aftermath of the end of FotJ, and how I've decided the official line of the GA is that Abeloth was an instrument of the Sith. Especially, but not necessarily, if I decide to work this plotline into Voices of the Force, where her influence stretched far beyond Coruscant.
Also, the fact that Vestara used to be a Sith is useful too. Between Abeloth and Caedus, hate for the Sith is probably the highest it's been since... I don't even know. The highest it's been in millennia, maybe. Even Palpatine, as I recall, wasn't nearly as public about it in his life as Caedus was at the end.
If they can show people a former Sith who's been redeemed, the Jedi might prevent public opinion from going so far as to approve, for example, Kesh being glassed and its mostly innocent population killed. The Alliance doesn't know where it is, so that's not an immediate concern, but it is a concern nonetheless.
That's still only seven out of twelve.
I think Vestara's new girlfriend is someone in a position of a friend to the Rogues, but not actually in their command structure, because that way it won't get weird if one of them gets promoted.
Another headcanon I have is that the age of majority in the Galactic Alliance is 14, a relic of the strategic realities of the late stages of the Vong War, so theoretically there's no rule preventing people Vestara's age from having a position here.

B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
B - I don't have a lot for Ace Attorney because most of its ships are very obvious. I did however discover a fondness for the very rarepair Maya Fey/Simon Blackquill after reading a fic about them. She is a spirit medium who is going to become the leader of her village, and is also obsessed with the TV series The Steel Samurai. He is a raging weeaboo and/or British man with Japanese ancestry who wields a spirit katana and wants to be a samurai. They are even the same age! They are absolutely perfect together!
K - Urgh, see, this is the thing that Ace Attorney is very bad at. The games are good at showing 50-75% of a character development arc and then giving up. Like, AA4 is all about Klavier Gavin receiving trauma after trauma, and you'd expect him to need some time to process everything that's happened to him - yet he pops up in AA5 as if nothing has happened at all. Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth both have development, but even then you don't see the trauma being processed. In fact, the way Phoenix flips back to his old self in AA5 ignores all of the changes that happened to him in AA4, and seems false.
I actually think one of the best development arcs I've ever seen in a game/game series is Martin Septim in TES IV: Oblivion. He goes from being the priest of a town attacked by Daedra (TES version of demons) to the Emperor of Tamriel, willing to give his life to stop the Daedric invasion. Each time you return to Cloud Ruler Temple on the main quest, he's a little more resigned to his fate. He goes from giving an awkward speech to the Blades where he says, "I know you all want me to be Emperor, but this is very new to me" to leading a major battle dressed in the Emperor's heavy armor. When did he learn to fight in heavy armor? Before that, he's only worn priest's robes. A lot is happening to him behind the player's back, and it gives him life.
W - I agree with you about hating soulmates and Hanahaki Disease, unless those tropes are subverted. I am quite fond of the idea of "soulmates" which simply means that the person will be very important to you - not necessarily your one and only partner, but perhaps your best friend forever. And I find it interesting when people write Hanahaki Disease as a chronic illness which affects people who love too easily and deeply. I've often felt that I'm a person who does that, and it's brought me emotional pain. Why not have physical pain to go with it?
The tropes I REALLY hate though are "Pair the Spares" and "Everyone is Gay".
Ace Attorney has a juggernaut F/F ship of FranMaya which is Miles Edgeworth's adoptive/foster sister Franziska Von Karma paired with Phoenix Wright's best friend Maya Fey. But there are plenty of other options for both of those women, both F/F and M/F. I feel they get paired together despite their wildly different personalities and interests simply because Phoenix and Miles do, and I really dislike that. I don't even hate the ship! But I LOATHE the idea that they are together BECAUSE of their brother/best friend's relationship.
When the trope is subverted, and FranMaya get together years before WrightWorth, then I like the ship much more. Though I still feel that both characters have plenty of other interesting ships available to them.
"Everyone is Gay" bothers me when it's literally everyone being GAY as in exclusively same-sex relationships. Especially as three characters are about as close to canon bisexual as it's possible to be! Others have strongly headcanoned sexualities which are part of fanon (e.g. Miles Edgeworth being homoromantic demisexual and Kristoph Gavin being aromantic homosexual). But other characters are more flexible, e.g. I've seen Ema Skye written as lesbian, bi, straight, asexual, aromantic and acearo!
By all means, make everyone queer. But recognise that a trans woman might date a man, that a lot of bisexuals end up in relationships with people of different gender, that heteroromantic asexuals are still queer, and that acearo people likely don't want partners at all. And all of that is okay.

tagged by @broodsys for this writer questionnaire uvu ty, i got really into this one. the deep jazz lore incoming <3
tagging @lyriumlullaby-ao3, @inscrutable-shadow, and @skadizzleross
copy and paste-able question list at the bottom of the post!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
says 88, but one is anonymous lol 89 babey
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
824,682
3. What fandoms do you write for?
dragon age currently, prior to that, detroit: become human. some witcher and RWBY mixed in. teen wolf, dishonored, red vs blue, homestuck back in the day, a couple other things.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Truth in Melody (witcher, geraskier)
The World Upside Down (dbh gen)
left an impression on my heart (teen wolf, scott/stiles. its over a decade old i am not linking this lol)
Variable Outcome (dbh, connor & gavin gen)
Winter Chill and Summer Bloom (dbh, connor/gavin)
5. Do you respond to comments?
absolutely! if i don't, it's only because the person is being a jerk or just uncomfortable. give me a heart emoji, you're getting a heart emoji right back. boop
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i generally write happy endings, no matter how hellish the road to that happy endings is. i do, however, have a Bad End dbh oneshot. Fair Compensation. it's straight up non-con, and from aggressor pov, so viewer discretion is advised
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
gosh idk how i could pick. as i said in the previous answer, i try to leave off on a high note. Truth in Melody or perhaps Promises to Keep. wouldn't say they're happier than others, but they're among my longest fics, which means the characters had to go through some bullshit to get those happy endings lmfao
8. Do you get hate on fics?
a couple times. more often, i get weird / uncomfortable comments that i just ignore
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i do! well, i'd say "kinky" tends to be a general theme ahahaha and feelsy! smut in my chaptered fics are more basic, the oneshots can be wild though. and then there's from the depths, an ancient song, where i wrote a foursome involving a LOT of tentacles. like a lot. so take that how you will.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
ive dabbled in ideas, but rarely get around to actually writing them. i do like the concept of smashing my favourite universes together, though. my dbh vampire series is basically just the lore of vampire: the masquerade, but i wouldn't consider it a full crossover
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i have! and a couple additional requests, one that i denied, and another that i agreed to but no result yet! still hoping <3
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
yes, for events. shout out to any of my buddies from the homestuck shipping olympics who see this :p can you BELIEVE how long it has been
roleplaying is also kinda like co-writing fics sometimes honestly. i've got some threads that have been ongoing for years and took a lot of plotting and planning together uvu
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
how dare u ask me this. this is nearly impossible aughh but i'm going to say corvo/daud from dishonored
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
basically anything from my favourite games and such that are nonetheless overshadowed by current hyperfixation. i'm forever sad that most of my many, many dishonored fic ideas were from a time when i chronically could not finish anything
16. What are your writing strengths?
i don't know, i'm bad at acknowledging good things about myself lol characterization, i suppose, that tends to be what i get the most lovely comments about <3
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
fluff, unless it's the resolution to angst lmfao i need to build up to it. drop me straight into a nothing scenario of fluff and i don't know what to DO. technical-wise, idk, descriptions i think
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
it certainly has its place and can be done well! but it's easy to mess it up, too. you need to make sure it's accurate and fitting for the scene, you need to avoid racist stereotyping, you need the story to still make sense and flow well. if the message isn't clear because most readers don't know the language, or have to keep looking it up / reading author notes, that's immersion-breaking imo. with fictional languages where much of the fanbase is familiar with the common words, though, no big deal i'd say
19. First fandom you wrote for?
honestly i think it was the cartoon, angry beavers lol i didn't know what's what i was doing, at the time. as far as serious, intentional stories, maybe firefly? or xmen?
20. Favorite fic you've written?
i cannot pick just one lol 4 is as low as ill go
previously linked Winter Chill and Summer Bloom: this is very hurt/comfort, my favourite thing, with a bunch of my other favourite things tossed in. touch-starvation, non-verbal character, characters getting away from the location of their suffering to heal in a better place, both physically and mentally, sweet slice of life stuff etc.
take these broken wings and learn to fly: more h/c! this one starts off heavy as hell and involves a lot of Process of Healing (to no ones surprise, at this point). healing has gotta be one of my favourite genders. also it's femslash.
Sight & Shadows: it's both plot- and character-driven, i'm happy with how i balanced both simultaneously. it's my vampire au, and other than the v:tm lore borrowing, it feels almost original to me. it's a rarepair, in an au--as niche as it gets, shaped a lot by the universe and story i put together for the whole series. it was a joy to create, because i truly did write this for ME. i wouldn't say any of my fics were written for others, per se, but i guess this one just felt different from the start. i wasn't anticipating an audience, i was just telling the story these characters needed, the way i like to do it. i had great friends supporting me through it, so i wasn't alone in the process or anything, it just felt the most like writing an original story than any of my other fics have
into the light of the dark black night: first of all, yes, 2/4 fics listed here are titled with lyrics from blackbird by the beatles. blackbird lyrics means intense feelings, that's just how it is. i've done it twice, and ill DO IT AGAIN. anyway, this one takes place in one of dbh's grimmest possible endings--the nuclear blast ending. i did a lot of research for this one, and also put a lot of thought into handling it with as much care as i think a concept like this requires. it's weighty, but hopeful. it has apocalypse elements, which i love. i got to do cyberpunky stuff as well. i added some of the elements i think dbh would have included if d@vid cage weren't a coward. i projected multiplicity onto some of the characters. i got to write north as the steadfast and successful leader of the revolution, as she deserves. blackbird fly <3
if you made it through all of that... thank you :>

SaL anon here bestie and *deep sigh* here we are...again. Not to get off topic but have you ever seem The Green Mile?? I have a complicated relationship with that movie but I the thing from it permanently imprinted on my brain is when the warden comes in demands "What in the Blue Fuck was That!?" It a whole ass mood right now after watching that clip and I highly recommend just watching that line to get the full effect.
Why, for the love of God, are we bringing up Shannon again??!! She didn't even really come up during Eddie's PTSD arc but we're just gonna randomly insert her in a episode sort of about death?? Of course we are because KR has literally no new ideas. Oh except for this season where she's like "You know what hasn't been done yet?? We haven't emphasized importance of family by blood so we'll redeem all the horrible parents with zero effort to let everyone know your grudges are petty and just hurt you." You know why that hasn't been done Kristen??!! Because this is a show about FOUND family, realizing your importance and worth in a space that's safe for you to do that, and having the support you need when the bad times come!! She has actually forgotten the very foundation of this show and I'd scream but I'm also so, so tired. You know what time it is then 🍸🍸🍸. Gonna read comfort fic and find a comfort show to put on when that gets hard. Cheers friend!!
Bestieeeee! What. The fuck. Is happening?! I didn't answer this Friday and I should have because yesterday was a WHOLE other mess! I feel so bad for dragging you into this show just in time for it to all go to shit. We survived RNM, we don't deserve to suffer like this again! 😩😩😩
Your "KR has literally no new ideas" line is SO apt after that clip yesterday literally recycling the eddieana meeting. Parallels can be used and be effective but after she literally just re-did Buck's fight with Bobby over returning to work with Eddie (only to not show their apology or Eddie's decision to return to work on screen), and re-did Eddie's "it's time to get back out there after Shannon and figure out what you want") s4 arc last week, this "Buck meets a girl on a call in the exact same way Eddie met Ana" just looks...so so so lazy. Not to mention Buck and Eddie are only ever with women after they meet them on calls, AND we are reverting Buck back to season 1 "a relationship with THIS women must be able to fix me" which is just...gross. Buck was always one of my favorite characters but GOD I dread his personal scenes now because KR just doesn't know what to do with him unless it's trying to get into his pants in some way and she doesn't understand any of the motivations or what drives him as a character. Stop ruining my boy!! GOD I need her off this show like, YESTERDAY.
ANYWAY
This whole Shannon thing has me so 🙄🙄🙄 because as good as Ryan and Gavin are and Eddie/Chris scenes always are because they play so well off each other, this is like, the LEAST interesting thing they could have done and it's clearly not about Chris or Eddie or their complicated history with Shannon, it's just being used to push the "Eddie choosing someone to date for himself" idea. They could have given something deep and emotional this season like Chris now being old enough to start asking harder questions about Shannon leaving and Eddie trying to navigate that with him, or having a talk about Chris starting to be interested in dating and asking Eddie some hard questions about why Eddie isn't dating again since Ana has been gone for so long. But nope! It's "let's pretend this parent never did anything awful and there are zero complex feelings about them" hours once again. Thanks, I HATE it. And for me it ruins the nuance of Shannon's character because she WAS just a person who was struggling. But where Eddie thought his son didn't need *him* so much as he needed Eddie to provide for him and once he found out Chris just wanted to spend time WITH him he fought tooth and nail to make it work no matter how hard, Shannon decided it was too much and cut off all contact because keeping in touch with her son and making sure he knew he was loved wasn't as important as her not wanting to be put in an awkward position. And that's life! And Chris and Eddie should be allowed to acknowledge that they loved her at some point, Chris should be allowed to have good memories of his mom, and still be allowed to acknowledge that she abandoned them and hurt them deeply and there are complex feelings around that!
These complex parental relationships leading to the found family of the 118 has ALWAYS been at the heart of the show and you're right that KR has NEVER understood that and has spent this season undermining that bond across the whole team and any time the story tries to emphasize the found family it's also still pushing the blood family importance so the storytelling comes out confused and in opposition to itself giving the audience emotional whiplash. I'm just so very very tired of this. I'm positive it's too much to hope for but with audiences tuning out and the constant complaints at how the show is handling arcs and pacing and KR's choices, and even now articles by people who often write about 911 calling out the inconsistencies, maybe the negotiations for renewal will come with some stipulations on who gets to be in charge. Even if I didn't love EVERY storyline choice in the early seasons, the episodes themselves were ALWAYS enjoyable overall and there was so much good stuff going on it was easy to let the stuff I didn't like as much roll past, so it would be good to get back to that sort of vibe again and KR has proved over several seasons that she is NOT up to that task. With the Tarlos wedding wrapped up, we might get...I don't want to say "lucky" because I don't think Tim is the greatest thing ever, but we might get some bit of pacing and consistency and flow back in the show (I know LS has some pacing issues as well but that feels to me more like them having to work around RL's insistence on centricity than anything else)
Oof. Lets see if we can make it through these last few episodes with this dating nonsense, the sperm donor arc and L coming back, and maybe even a Tay Kay jumpscare. Can't wait 🙄 At least Ravi is back home and the finale emergency looks like it will be good and we're getting injured Chim so we're going to get *some* crumbs out of this mess. And then it will be summer and I've got a fic idea started soooo, we'll see if I can get anywhere with my astronaut!Buck, NASA medic!Eddie Countdowns inspired thingy. Cheers my friend, we are going to NEED IT. (But hey, if we survived RNM, we can do ANYTHING. But also we shouldn't have to and I need this show to STOP IT.) 🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹

9, 11, 19 and 20 for the asks! :D
Favourite OC?
Ithea, it's no contest! She's just been part of my life for so long. After her I really feel like Dante needs serious consideration because he was a side character from an RP in middle school who I continued thinking about and draw pictures of until I decided to put him in a novel like. last year. So obviously I really like him! I also love Gheist a lot~
Sum up one or more of your wips!
Well summaries of my work are very easy to access however I feel like when it comes to Silverwood I usually just do the sort of overall vibe, but I don't know that I've necessarily gotten into the core conflicts of each generation.
1st generation the conflict is between Ithea and her father on one hand and Ithea and her brother on the other hand. Her father is trying to undermine their race for various reasons and she sees it while others don't because she wasn't raised in that culture. She wants to put a stop to him and his bullshit but unfortunately only manages to turn almost everyone against her so things proceed even faster after she dies. The conflict with her brother is personal and if it weren't for his inability to let go of the past, she might have been able to get more done on the actual conflict that she's worried about but sometimes things don't go the way you want them to.
Generation 2 also has two things going on, there's Charlie who gets involved with a resistance group and ends up funding a failed coup d'état, and all the politics going on over there. There is also Cyan, Gavin, and Kaite who are inventing the concept of organized crime. As for the other siblings there is some information about what they're doing but it's not as important to this particular section of history.
Generation 3 is sort of a domestic arc where the siblings end up coming back together and deal with a bunch of emotional baggage, the world is at this point at least relatively peaceful so there's not so much political nonsense going on it really is just focused on the actual relationships of the Silverwood kids as adults and also their children.
In generation 4 everything goes to shit again and one of Ro's grandchildren leads a revolution and takes over the government of 2 separate countries before deciding that one of them is too troublesome and stays with the other one, prompting all kinds of chaos. If there ever is a generation 5 it will probably revolve around the inheritance rights of the throne that Rona abandoned.
What are some things that inspired your stories? Real events? Maybe a dream?
I am often inspired by dreams actually! I tend to have very plot heavy dreams that I remember well so I've used those on multiple occasions. Celestials, Magic Black as Knight, and Northbound are still active stories that are wholly or partially based on dreams.
Otherwise I get a lot of inspiration from the "wow I would've written a relationship like that so much better" LOL
What story are you the proudest of? Why?
The Ghost! It really is exactly the kind of book that I wanted to be producing when I decided to be a writer, I love the characters and the world building and the story, I think it's held up really well considering how long ago I wrote it, and it just honestly means a lot to me. It's really one that I wrote not just because I had the idea but out of sheer love for the idea and the characters and that love has not diminished ^__^
I'm playing this ask game!

Adrien!
This is an ask directly related to this and I'm finally here to answer it. Or at least part of it. Tagging @non-canon-central because they also asked for Adrien but I was unable to get to him at the time. For some reason Tumblr doesn't want me actually tagging them I guess, so hopefully this freaking works??? So let's make one thing pretty clear; I don't hate Adrien but I do hate his character. That sounds like an oxymoron, I am aware. The best way I can describe this is, it's like the opposite of liking a villain's character but fundamentally hating them as a person. Like I love the idea of Adrien. I think he has plenty of fun potential and it wouldn't take much to make him more intriguing but I just hate how he's written. I'm sure that comes as a shock to absolutely no one. I say this about almost every Miraculous character. I wanted to clear this up because a lot of people seem to believe that if you talk bad about a character, and it isn't some kind of joke, that you just hate that character entirely. This isn't the case with me. Now I mentioned a while back that the only way I believe I could ever hope to explain my frustration with Adrien's character is by comparing him to other similar characters or similar character arcs. My goal is to compare him to a few characters. I tried to keep it to characters within his age range but there are one or two on here that are adults (though I would be referencing a lot of their childhood for at least one). Since I will be comparing Adrien to these characters this means spoilers will be very hard to avoid so I'm just going to warn you now. If you don't want spoilers for the following I suggest looking into these things yourself; Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic the Hedgehog Archie comics, Sonic Universe Archie comics, Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comics, Mr Love: Queen's Choice the Gavin and Kiro story arc, Koi to Producer: Evol X Love the Mr Love: Queen's Choice anime, Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben 10: Omniverse, and Miraculous Ladybug. I was initially going to include Raven Saga from Webtoon but decided against it since it's not nearly a big enough franchise as compared to the others and the author would most definitely not benefit from it. I highly recommend reading it and then you can guess what character in there I found similarities to Adrien in but was just actively done better. I will most likely be splitting this into parts just to make it an easier read. Part 1: Mr Love: Queen's Choice and/or Koi to Producer: Evol X Love - Kiro (Helios)
One of the reasons I believe Mr Love: Queen's Choice's characters are comparable examples to Adrien (despite all the characters presented are adults through most of the story) is because it is an otome game, which means its primary focus is romance much like Miraculous. But also, much like Miraculous, it involves high actions scenes and beings with superpowers. It balances these things quite well whereas Miraculous (in my opinion) does not. And unlike Miraculous, it presents itself as a romance first and foremost, making it clear where their primary focus is whereas Miraculous doesn't really do that. In fact, most of its marketing is pointing at girl power. At least MLQC knows what it's about. Since MLQC knows exactly what it's about it may not come as a shock at all to you that they know exactly what their characters are. And there are two characters in this game that share quite a few similarities to Adrien. However a main difference is that both characters have a clear direction their headed towards but Adrien doesn't.
So let's talk about Kiro (Helios). This is the character I know the least as compared to the others. Most of what I have learned about him I got from the anime which I have learned is not entirely accurate but I will be referencing most of that (sorry die-hard MLQC fans, I am a very slow reader) as well as some scenes from the game.
Who is Kiro, exactly? And who the heck is Helios? Let's define him. Kiro is a mega popular popstar (so popular that girls practically fall at his feet) with a love for junk food and sweets (despite his agent forbids him from eating them). He's musically gifted, being able to pick up and play any instrument after a very short period of trial and error. He is also known to moonlight as a movie actor and a model. He's got a child-like wonder to him and a huge appreciation for superheroes, specifically ones without powers (Batmen, for instance). He shows affection and comfort through cute gestures and physical touch. He's, in essence, a big teddy bear. He's such a teddy bear that the narrative often compares him to one. This perfect teddy bear like nature is easily comparable to Adrien's perfect sunshine character. They both are hugely popular and beloved by their fans. They both show incredible talent, able to take on many tasks given to them such as modeling, acting, and instrument playing with ease. They both show comfort and affection through cute gestures (though Adrien's can be more grandiose) and physical touch. Pretty similar, right? Here's the massive difference; Kiro has flaws. Kiro has secrets. There are things he actively keeps from the MC and behavior one wouldn't associate with his supposedly perfect teddy bear likeness. There's actually a narrative reason why Kiro is presented to be so perfect. There's a reason why it's shoved in your face. We're gonna get into huge spoiler territory here for Kiro. This is your only warning.
Kiro is secretly a vigilante code-named Key (a name passed down to him by his father figure that taught him everything he knows). Key is an expert hacker. Able to hack through almost anything. There's very few things he cannot bypass. He likes to think of himself as a hero and loves to play the hero role (much like how Adrien took to Chat Noir so comfortably). Kiro prefers to use his own wits and hacking skills rather than his evol. That's right, he has evol, which in MLQC is the equivalent to superpowers. His evol is absolute charm. This was actually not fully a secret to us, the reader, but it's a shock to MC. It's heavily implied that Kiro used this power almost unintentionally purely because he's selfish. He longs for people to love him and his power responds to his wants. It's implied he's not aware how much he may use it but it could only be at his concerts. In fact, Kiro may have only been made aware of it when evolvers control over their evol was lost due to tampering with, I believe, electro-magnetic waves. Where, at one of his concerts, his fans began to tear each other apart to prove they loved him more. This is such a shock to him he quits being a popstar immediately because he can't bare the idea he caused that, even if it wasn't his fault he lost control. Now here's the really annoying thing about Adrien; I could totally believe he secretly has absolute charm with the way people just fall in love with him and he's just totally unaware of it but the problem is it's also pretty clear Adrien doesn't even want the attention he gets. And despite how obvious he makes that people blatantly choose to ignore it. This includes Kagami, Chloe, Wayhem, and nearly the entire class! He's not trying to hide it guys! It's pretty obvious he's unhappy with it! What is the purpose of this? To show he's so unfairly treated? How none of this is his fault? He couldn't possibly be unintentionally feeding into some of this because he's perfect and that would be too interesting of an idea. /s Ah, yeah, but I guess it ain't totally obvious because he's totally cool with Ladybug and his best friends giving him that same attention (except in season 4 I guess). Double standards much? What the freak do you want, Adrien?
But let's get back to Kiro because we aren't near done yet. Now here's a fun thing, Kiro actually possesses another evol. This evol he tends to refuse to use unless he has to. It is revealed to us and to MC at the same time. It's important to note that neither of us were aware of it until he had absolutely no choice. I'm gonna try to explain this without giving away too many spoilers because this game is awesome; Kiro refuses to use this power probably because it goes against what being a hero means to him. I should also mention that over using evol can be harmful and even deadly to the evolver. This is also why Kiro probably only ever used absolute charm. Keeping this all in mind, Kiro only decides to use it when he and MC are being chased by the bad guys and there's no way to escape. He has to painfully make the choice to use it on her when they reach the door to the heart of the issue which buys her some time while he fends them off. He risks her hating him just to buy her time so she can destroy the machine and save everyone. He also risks dying due to the sudden amplification of evol power. This self-sacrificing may slightly remind you of Chat Noir but the main difference being... Kiro actually had a reason. There is only about 2 or 3 times Chat Noir's sacrifices had ever made sense in the narrative and were presented as possibly the only action to take in that moment. I cannot stress enough to you how horrifying it is that almost every time Chat Noir self-sacrifices there are clear other avenues they could take and yet he immediately just jumps to the extreme. It makes you think Adrien just wants to die but something as serious as that is never at all focused on beyond one small comment from Ladybug in Lies! For Kiro there was no other option. If they entered the room together they would almost certainly be caught and since in this world they use guns, MC or himself could be dead before he ever got the chance to use his powers. And because MC effectively believes him to be dead after this Kiro takes on a new identity. An identity that isn't the perfect cuddly teddy bear Kiro or the heroic Key but rather someone akin to an anti-hero. Kiro becomes Helios; a cold, methodical man not afraid to use guns and his own power against the enemy. Helios even tricks MC into believing that he has no idea who Kiro is. He actively tricks her just to preserve her good memories of Kiro because there's no way MC could like this cold man, there's no way she could like who he really is. And he does state this a few times, that Helios is the real him even though he seems to almost fear this side of himself. It is MC who had to help him learn to connect Kiro and Helios and to not separate himself. He is Kiro and Helios.
This could almost be compared to Adrien's relationship to Chat Noir. Expect, rather than fearing this other side, he actively chooses Chat Noir over Adrien in most instances. He actively believes Chat Noir to be his true self and does not respond well to being turned away as Chat. This could be interesting and a great way to cause, not only outside conflict, but inner conflict. But this is not even explored. One could argue Kuro Neko did it explore it. But it really didn't. Instead of focusing on who Chat Noir is it, instead, chose to focus on how much Chat Noir loves Ladybug and how she needs him there for... no reason? No, seriously. They give absolutely no good arguments as to why she shouldn't just keep Catwalker around. The one good argument they possibly had they didn't even use. And that was that he freaking distracts her. No, instead their argument here is that he's "too perfect", whatever that freaking means. Excuse me? I believe, since your whole city is at freaking risk, that's exactly the kind of individual you'd want for the job. Never mind you want Chat Noir back for your own personal reasons (whatever those are because they do a very poor job communicating it). Why the freak would anyone turn away someone that's "too perfect"? The only reason I can think of is if she's suspicious of him but she so obviously isn't. They don't even try to explain why Adrien should even keep Chat Noir around if he's apparently only argumentive, not taking anything seriously, and effectively just another member of the team based on the visuals alone. The only thing keeping Chat around is cataclysm. That is it. And that's such a weak argument to stand on when literally anyone else could wear that ring. But no, that can't happen because we have to keep the status quo, I guess. That Ladybug is awesome and Chat is there to just make us laugh and give her an inspiring speech every season finale.
You know what's great about Kiro and Helios? That the narrative doesn't demonize Helios like Kiro does. It goes out of its way to show you how Helios is just as important as Kiro!
I don't get why it's so hard to just show that Chat Noir is just as important to Ladybug as Adrien without having to reference cataclysm or that it's because he's Adrien. How about it's because he's Adrien and Chat Noir? Why are the writers so afraid to merge these two together as if they aren't the same person. Heck, you even have one episode where you do just that but it's a what if episode so it's therefore non-consequential! And I hated Ephemeral but at least it bothered to do that despite pretty much every other episode tackling a similar issue absolutely refusing to do so! But this also required Marinette finding out he was Adrien and then only coming to love Chat that way. Which isn't entirely horrible but it just feels kind of shallow. I would have much preferred she realized she liked Chat but didn't want to "betray" Adrien in her mind so she refused to acknowledge it and then this reveal allowed her to combine the two and except that she has the best of both worlds. In many ways the romance of MLQC lends itself well to the character of Kiro/Helios but the romance of Miraculous seems to fight against the character of Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir. Probably because Kiro and MC's relationship feels like she (and the writers) have fully accepted and loved who he is where Adrien and Marinette's relationship feels like her (and the writers) love only one side of him and the other part is kind of just a small bonus. Oh, but don't worry this works the exact opposite way. Where Kiro actively loves MC, all of her (even though she can be kind of stupid), Adrien over here seems to only freaking like Ladybug. Like, yeah, he's nice to Marinette and he blushes around her occasionally but oftentimes that just feels like he's only blushing because their in oddly intimate positions often for some unknown reason. And also because he likes her as a friend. In Chat Blanc it feels like as soon as he realizes Marinette is Ladybug he suddenly recognizes this out of no where crush (that was barely hinted at). With Kiro he fell in love with MC first, before he found out she was a badass and then he fell even harder. Which makes it all the more ironic that he's willing to except all of her, even her flaws, but he can't seem to do the same for himself. In fact, Kiro even fell in love with MC in a similar way Chat did for Ladybug. MC was his hero. Someone who saved him and others by constantly being around to cheer people up despite the very dark situations of their childhood (which I won't get into because again, I'm trying not to spoil too much here). But that went from just outright admiration to genuine love. Chat's crush feels like he's just been holding Ladybug up on a pedestal the whole time except for kind of near the end of season 4 which I'm not sure why it had to take him that long.
I am not asking for Adrien to be exactly like Kiro. I am asking for him to feel like a sturdy character like Kiro. I am just trying to show that despite the similarities Kiro's character was able to find success where Adrien's character seems to only find failure. Kiro is most definitely not a perfect character. No character is ever perfect. But that's why we love them, isn't it? Because they're imperfect? So why can't the ml writer's seem to pull Adrien out of that bubble? Just let him be selfish without somehow justifying it! Also, keep in mind that this is just my interpretation of Kiro based on my experience with the game and anime. Some of this could totally be wrong or misinterpreted but it speaks volumes I am able to come up with all of this about his character based on what little I know yet for Adrien I have to compare him to characters to even try to explain why he annoys me! But that's just one of the successful characters I could compare Adrien to. The next part I'm going to talk about Gavin, also from Mr Love: Queen's Choice, and see how he also compares to Adrien.

Goodnight prompt 47/∞
Fandom: Detroit: Become Human Ship: RK900/Gavin Reed AUs/Tropes: Soulmates AU, Forgot first meeting Prompt: What happens if your soulmate is deaf and can't hear your first words? Do you even have a soulmark?
Extra details: I literally had this idea at 4 in the morning, but I have been wondering for hours about what would happen in a universe where soulmates have soulmarks with the first words you soulmate tells you.
Like, would they have soulmarks of the first words someone sign at them instead? Or would they feel pressured by society to learn at least a few words to say when they meet someone for the first time so that they recognize their soulmates by their soulmates mark alone?
It's one of those interesting concepts that I would very much like to see explored.
Anyway, back to the actual prompt. So, the one detail I wanted for the soulmarks in this AU is that not only you have a soulmark with the first words your soulmates tells you, but the words are kind of like a very old and faded tattoo until you actually hear them, and then they turn vibrant (sometimes even colorful).
I just like the idea that RK900 was activated as soon as Markus does his big speech at the end of the good endings, and tries to destroy the deviants leaders. But despite him being stronger than all of the other, he's overwhelmed just because he's one against multiple androids at the same time.
So, right before they make him a deviant as well, he gets injuries so bad that his hearing processor or whatever doesn't work anymore. And fixing it is kind of hard, like, maybe since he's a prototype that part need to be made specifically for him.
But the newly deviant RK900 doesn't really mind being deaf. He can comunicate with people just fine even without being able to hear them.
Which is also how RK900 doesn't realize when he first meets Gavin. Maybe Connor brings RK900 to work with him one day just so that he can see how working at the precinct looks like because RK900 isn't sure just yet what he wants to do now that he's free to choose.
And Gavin, thinking RK900 is Connor, pushes him when walking by, not even really paying attention or saying anything since he's rushing to go on a call or something.
Here is where I kind of stopped with this idea. Because maybe RK900 mumbles automatically "I'm sorry" or maybe even an insult. And Gavin is too focused on his own shit (or maybe RK900 whispers it too quietly) that he doesn't even actually hear them in an active way.
But once he gets back home and undresses to go into the shower, he sees his soulmark in all kind of shade of blues and grey and OH FUCK, he met his soulmate... And he doesn't even remember who the fuck said the words.
Like I said, this is kind of where I stopped because there are so many options of things that could happen! I haven't even decided if RK900 has words or not, if maybe they appear when he becomes deviant or if they still stay muted even after Gavin says them to him because he knows Gavin said them (he can reads his lips), but he hasn't actually heard them. Or maybe he doesn't have a mark at all and the two of them don't know that they are soulmates but still fall in love with each other, and there is this whole thing with RK900 thinking that sooner or later Gavin will find his soulmate and leave him (so maybe they even have this "friend with benefits" deal at first, or something).
Just, one of those ideas with the potential for lots of angst, drama and pining, which is always my favorite combo, especially if there is a nice happy ending at the end of it.
(Also, the relationship could be just a side of the coin. Maybe RK900 at first works at the precinct because it feels like the obvious decision to make. But he realizes that he's not truly happy and decides to quit and he tries a bunch of different jobs to figure out what he prefers to do. What can I say, I like when characters need to find themselves.)

Getting to talk about my version of VT was so fun that it would be wrong of me not to ask you about yours 👁👁
Only if you want to share, but I’m endlessly interested in other peoples take on these characters and their story
-dehliman
I'm a bit sad to say that I currently don't have much! I'm in the very early stages of thinking about it seriously! I will share a bit of what I do have for sure though!! it's the beginning of everything. The most I have is about Ghost, because for a good while I set out to make his life make sense which it probably still doesnt lol, its very centered around the Johnnys at the moment.... but i am currently working on Chris and Spooker >:3 no info on them until later unfortunately!! this ended up being so much longer than expected! warning this is a LONG READ. I MEAN IT. I REACHED CHARACTER LIMIT AND IM NOT DONE.
So getting right into it! Johnny Ghost, previously named [REDACTED] or Gregory Casket, was raised in West Virginia on a large property to which he was regularly left alone by both of his parents due to his mother being busy with a full-time job and his father being frequently away on 'business trips' and practically being non-existent in Gregory's life and dismissive of the kid when he was around. Unknown to all residents of the house, the house was built on land previously used to summon something otherworldly. The results remained to be unseen until the Casket family moved in. The results? A demon Gregory would unknowingly not only attach to himself for life but give power by calling it his friend. This demon would feed him false truths with no one there to correct him with the real truth, muddying what he knew about himself and where he came from later in life. One thing he was sure of was that in the tail end of elementary school he met Johnny Toast, who had an instant and strong impact in Ghost's life. The first REAL friend he ever had. Also around the tail end of elementary school is when the spirit attached to Ghost's 'imaginary friend' gimmick would stop working. It would lay low for years to come, thinking of what to do next. Jonathan Toast and his unexpected twin Gavin, were originally born in Brighton but temporarily moved to WV for a period of time after their father's death for a change of scenery. Johnny took his father's death surprisingly well especially for how young he was, Gavin did not and it was something that would effect him for the rest of his life leading to some not so great behavior out of emotional distress heard by barely anyone. I'm still working out exactly what's going on with their family tree so excuse the lack of information! Through the course of middle school Ghost and Toast would study the paranormal together on top of their actual school work which is an interest they bonded over from the beginning, going on 'investigations' that were really just the pair going to rumored to be haunted locations with a crappy voice recorder that rarely ended with anything being found. This is when the idea of P.I.E was pitched by Ghost, an at the time silly dream of a paranormal investigation agency that both of them only hoped would become reality in the future. This is also when Gregory started going by the name Johnny very suddenly for unknown reasons, but considering being called Gregory would make him completely breakdown barely anyone dared to question or protest. He didn't yet change his last name. During high school the entity attached to Ghost would decide to create a name for itself, using Ghost's real last name and entirely copying Ghost's appearance almost detail for detail to start on its planned path of Ghost's destruction and eventual use as a vessel for horrible things. It didn't know how resilient and strong Ghost could be at times. In the last few years of highschool, Toast and his family would move back to Brighton to be near their grandmother after her husband passed away. Both Johnnys kept in contact through letters and over the phone, Ghost became increasingly ambitious about the plans for P.I.E and insisted they would be reality which was an idea Toast was thrilled with and started to make a plan to move back to West Virginia when he finished college. He ended up graduating college early and moving back as soon as he was able. While in Brighton Johnny Toast would have many arguments with Gavin due to Gavin's uncaring nature toward their grieving grandmother, leading to Gavin not exactly being the most fond of his brother. Although in the time that Toast was gone, Ghost would meet Katrina Galloway. Katrina and Ghost quickly became friends, their similarly loud and in your face personalities just feeding off of each other. Ghost and Katrina would get in a large disagreement about 6 months into their friendship, a disagreement that would end in Ghost having his first blackout because of Jimmy. I LITERALLY CAN'T ADD ANYMORE THAN THIS WTF.

YES HELLO ASK GAME FOR GAVIN REED
♥!
I can't say my opinions on Gavin will be truly hot takes but here they are anyway.
1: sexuality headcanon
Gavin clearly has the largest crushes on so many people around him and none of those people are women, so while I won't rule out that he might be attracted to women, I imagine he's mostly into men/masculine presenting people.
2: otp
Uh honestly I literally never think about Gavin and shipping in terms of pairings I actually like so... I guess I can say that the fandom take on Gavin and RK900 has some dynamics I like? It can definitely be made to work, it's just that it's an inherently fandom ship in not just the pairing, but in RK900's entire personality (whether or not Gavin is fandomized or given his canon personality.) So it's really hard for me to actually ship it, but in terms of fun dynamics I appreciate in otps, it counts.
3: brotp
The relationship between fandom Gavin and Tina gives me life and I love it. The two of them being terribly chaotic BFFs has been one of my favorite fanon things, even in like, fics and such where they're not the focus but are just being menaces in the background. It's beautiful and I love them.
4: notp
Gavin and Connor. Starts off terribly and I don't think their personalities would be well suited together even if you're using fanon Gavin instead of canon Gavin. In social situations Connor tends to flip flop from extremely passive to overly aggressive and both of those would be absolutely terrible when mixed with Gavin's bullying and insecurity, and also their canon relationship being as it is I just hate everything about this pairing.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
It's barely even headcanon since it's basically canon anyway but Gavin constantly gets himself into situations he has no idea how to get out of. I imagine he liked to pick a lot of fights, some relatively minor and some serious, when he was younger and then instantly was in over his head in all of them.
6: favorite line from this character
I'm too lazy to go willingly seek out Gavin content but the line in the Eden Club where he's talking derisively about the guy who Echo killed always stands out to me. Gavin hates androids but he also has an utter disdain for the sorts of people who frequent Eden Club and I think that's an interesting little character bit.
7: one way in which I relate to this character
We are both small and angry, though Gavin's still a hundred miles taller than me, so in a way I'm really winning the small and angry contest here. Also the extreme urge to make bitchy comments every five seconds is very much relatable, though Gavin hasn't yet learned the art of NOT making those comments every time you think about them.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
He's trying SO HARD to be tough and impressive and he's just like, the lamest dude and on one hand that's very funny but on the other I'm so embarrassed for him. Him showing off for Tina in Waiting for Hank by bullying Connor while Tina is just like, completely stone faced is one of the funniest background things to me.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Not even a problematic fave since I hardly ever think about him, but he is problematic. So problematic. But I do love that even his biggest fans know he's a complete disaster and I don't believe anyone anywhere would ever call him a cinnamon roll.

For the ask thing you reblogged: 11, 20, 31, 39. No stress if you can't answer all of them! Even picking one out of the four is fine!
For the Fanfic Writer Ask Game! Thanks for the questions! I absolutely will answer all of them! :D 11. How do you come up with your fic titles? Ah, great question! Okay, broadly, all my fic titles go into one of three categories: quote/song lyric, a word of phrase directly tied to the narrative, or something themed. In the case of the quote/song titles, I usually will carry through that naming throughout the entire piece if it's chaptered/part of a series? Those ones, there's always a certain vibe I'm going for. The ones tied to the narrative I try to make evocative. Whether they're a one word theme or a play on words or the main idea I built the fic on, I try to make them interesting enough to take a second glance and go in for the summary. And the themed ones, those usually have a repeating word/phrase/motif attached to them? For example, I have a whole series of fics where every title starts with "In." Don't ask me why, lol. But it establishes a sort of continuity I suppose. 20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process? Damn, this is tough... I mean, actually conceptualizing and brainstorming an idea is always great? I love coming up with ideas and giving them a hard think and imagining the possibilities. Only a small fraction of those ever actually make it to paper, but it's still a very important step y'know? But if we're talking actually writing, then... Well, there are moments... Moments when I get swept away, especially when writing big, emotional scenes. And I'll write something that just kinda knocks me sideways for a moment. Tuning in to my own writing to see I just cracked out some banger line is just the best fuckin feeling, I swear. Especially if it's enough to make me actually squeal or gasp or vocalize at the screen, lol! That's definitely up there along with coming up with the perfect chapter ending, lol. 31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones? Omg, this is such a hard question!!!! Because everyone I write for has such a distinct flair! Omggggg... Like, how am I supposed to choose between Hank's sarcasm and Gavin's feistiness? Between Connor's levelheadedness and Sixty's ridiculousness? Or Nines or North or Amanda or Kamski or... anyone? (And that's just DBH, too. I've written a few other things for other fandoms that are just as engaging, omg.) Guh... Okay, just on basis of ease, I guess I'll go with Hank. Hank is so fuckin great to write, he is very easy for me to slip into. We have such a similar sense of humor, it's always a great time writing him. (Although I think Sixty is a very close second, just because he's so fuckin insane, omg!!! He's a fuckin blast to write! XD) And also, no, I don't think this has been swayed by readers at all? I mean, Hank certainly provokes some fandom engagement, he's a fave character for the fandom. But that's not why I like writing him? (And if we look at Sixty, too, it's like the opposite reaction, lol. He's not very popular in the fandom, especially in the rarepair I love him in, but I still have a blast doing it anyway. XD) Yeah, I don't think my readers have swayed me whatsoever here. 39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on? Oh gosh... Got me right in my Achilles' heel, didn't ya? Man, I don't know... My pacing maybe? I feel like I always have a pretty tight narrative with no superfluity. Mostly cuz writing exhausts me, lol, but my plots tend to be short and sweet and to the point. Simple but brisk, lol. But yeah, thank you for these questions! This was fun! Been a long time since I've did an ask game like this, lol. Cheers! :D
