hi so I am extremely soft for Sun basically being all-hands-on-deck for assisting Y/N with outfits, Moon wanting Y/N to be comfortable, and Eclipse being all here for nice textures

how would the boys react to Y/N asking them (independently) to help them put together an outfit (something complicated that needs an extra pair of hands with buttons/zips). can be pre/post-reveal depending on desired fluff content - @clxckwork-sun-n-moon

Pre-reveal: Sun: Flattered beyond compare - them asking means they trust his judgement enough to put their outfit in his hands! For a peacock like him, who's job is reliant on looking the part, that's a big thing. There's also, uh, the thing about having to go up into their room, their private space, to maybe survey what they have? The thought will fluster him enough to fumble, and ask if they have a few things in mind already, and ends up moving the fashion show downstairs. Just take anything that could come in handy to the living room, he can work with that! Would love to take his time and invite them to a shopping trip, but feels like that might just be too much and sticks with what's available. Will however gladly offer to lend things to them - perhaps a specific tie would match better, or a certain set of cufflinks... Very gentle, but focused while working with buttons and zippers. He takes pride in being asked, so he won't risk damaging anything or hurting them by getting distracted. By the time he's finished the bitter pang of knowing this outfit isn't for him comes back to punch him square in the face, and he's lucky he's always smiling because otherwise it would be hard to keep up. Y/N doesn't miss the way his expression twists, and can't quite make sense of it before he leaves with a quick, but genuine compliment.

Moon: So you have chosen violence. Given that this is reverse coded, you have the shy boy, who is awkward af around the nice landlord already, who has no clue about fashion as his only focus is "dark color scheme and good to move in." He near panics, but agrees to help in any capacity he can - then follows Y/N into their home while just listing off disclaimers about how he's really not that knowledgeable and doesn't know what he's doing with outfits half the time, but if they're really sure - Ends up being the one giving the least "advice" because Y/N could try on anything and he'd say they look great, with that earnest expression that just makes it impossible to be mad about it. Y/N can try the process of elimination, and he does a lot better answering "this or that" questions. The living room ends up a mess by the time he's actually starting to help, almost hesitant to make contact. His gaze keeps flitting up to their eyes, checking in with them if things are still okay and he's good to continue. Ends up losing his anxiety by the end of it, giving them a couple earnest compliments. But once he's out the door and back alone he realizes that's it, that was his role in this and that's what it'll always be, and that does sting a good bit.

Post-reveal: Sun: And here you have chosen death. No longer concerned about propriety and overstepping, because now boundaries are all in the open and secrets no longer exist, he's very eager to show Y/N the full extent of his knowledge. Will no longer be too shy to go into their room, either, and Y/N will have some mild regrets over him judging what they have available. Will also be much less coy about sharing his own wardrobe, and given that he wasn't shy about it before there's just a lot waiting for Y/N. Will still be focused during the actual buttoning and zipping, but his touch will linger longer when he draws his fingers back down the line of clothing he just closed up. God help them when it's at their back - you know what you do when there's sudden pressure drawn down your back? You arch into it, and Sun is living for it when Y/N just moves with his hand, maybe eliciting a small gasp... "There, all set" - and his grin is entirely too innocent when they turn to glare at him. Maybe missing the touch already, which is exactly what he intended <3

Moon: A little less violence, good for him. Given the lack of secrets Moon is much more comfortable explaining that his sense of fashion is very much just "I need to work in it and not get killed by Sun if he happens to switch into it" which will make Y/N laugh and set the tone for the rest of the little fitting. He'll be much more of a menace, pretending to contemplate and at times even impersonating Sun and trying to mimic his speech patterns just to make Y/N crack up as they hold different shirts in front of their body. But when he asks them to "Come here?" with that gentle smile, they don't even hesitate for a second. He's much more confident, maybe even letting out an appreciative hum as he works the buttons/ zippers. Of course, he'll want to look at his handiwork, and helps them turn with his hands on their sides, before grinning like a Cheshire cat and asking if they'll need help getting out of it later, too? Earns him another laugh and a playful smack to the face, but he only laughs too knowing that he will get to help them get comfortable after, too <3

Eclipse: (though not for AU!Y/N, and more a s/o) Eclipse: Oh, he wants to have fun with this! He'd love to start from scratch, and start it all off with a shopping trip to just look around! If the energy is there, he'd love to go to multiple stores and compare, mixing and matching whatever you like, and looking for accessories in the same go! (or another go. multiple trips is also fun, he just gets excited! online shopping he's also definitely open for, if that's more comfortable - he just likes the added bonus of exploration) The actual putting on he'll be quieter, but still giddy. Torn between reverent staring, excited noises and hand clapping, and actually helping, he's a bit of a scatterbrain about it, but it's okay! Just take enough time to get ready! Very, very careful and gentle with any buttons or zippers - he doesn't want to pinch you, or break anything, and animatronics are strong enough for a mindless little tug to end with a loose button or damaged zipper. With four hands he's got a good advantage though, and two can take care of buttons and zippers, while two can hold the rest of the fabric in place. If that happens by having his hands rest on your shoulders, sides, hips, or even all of the above depending on where he's currently zipping/ buttoning, that's between him and you! Will shower you in compliments as soon as he's done, before quietly asking if you like it, too - because he knows that's the most important part, and if he hasn't helped you before and/ or you have very different tastes in fashion, he'll want to check in that everything went well and you're satisfied! <3

Idek why I’m all in the softs when I’m horny af, but daddy Steve’s reaction to bucky dressed to the fucking nines, in a suit or a tux and he’s just like wtf all that is mine?????

Babyyyy some of the best horny times are the soft ones! And this one would be one of them!

As soon as Steve gets done adjusting his bowtie, centering it on his neck, he’s glancing down at his watch. Plenty of time. There are events where he himself gets a little nervous, his stomach a tad uneasy, and this is one of them. A lot of people, a loud environment, the importance of impressing; it’s all swirled together into Tony and Pepper’s holiday party. It’s a party thrown by friends but one that Steve can’t totally let loose at because there are also a plethora of people who work for and with Steve, whom a connection is valuable and necessary. That pushes Steve to ensure he’s on point and on his best behavior for the entirety of the night.

It’s also Bucky’s first time accompanying Steve to this event. It isn’t his first time attending a work event or a party of sorts by Steve’s side, but it is his first time attending this particular party. Steve would be lying if he said there wasn’t added pressure because of that alone. Adding to that small mountain of pressure is the fact that Bucky is incredibly nervous for tonight. He’s only whispered his worries about tonight into Steve’s shoulder once before and only once, but Steve knows they remain underlying.

Steve needs to be strong for his boy.

“Buck? How’s it goin’?” Steve asks rather loudly from the bathroom, knowing Bucky’s in the closet changing into his suit. He spent an adorable amount of time in the mirror fussing with his hair, wanting it to be perfectly curly, as if Bucky wasn’t angelic enough. Steve hears Bucky respond but can’t hear exactly what he says so he steps out of the bathroom and heads to the closet.

“You okay, Buck? I couldn’t hear—”

It’s one of those moments just like the movies, time slowing down, the rush and chaos of the evening deafening out to a lull in Steve’s brain. Every piece of his own body zones in and focuses on Bucky standing before him in the closet fidgeting with his sleeve.

“Buck…”

He hears himself say it, like a breath, like a prayer, the same way he says it in his head, like a song. Bucky looks…looks—

“Bucky, you look…holy shit, baby.”

When Bucky turns to look at him over his shoulder Steve feels like his heart slide up into his throat. He tells himself to breathe, to stop being dramatic, but how is he supposed to act anything close to normal when his boyfriend looks like a fallen angel right here in front of him?

Bucky is dressed to the nines, looks like he’s walked right out of a high-fashion ad in Vogue. Sleek black shoes, tight as sin black pants, white dress shirt with simple black buttons. It’s simple, elegant, classic; of course Bucky looks immaculate in the basics. What stops Steve in his tracks is the jacket Bucky is wearing.

It’s the prettiest shade of green Steve has ever seen. It’s like the color of a Pacific Coast forest, deep and dark but lively, matches beautifully with the chestnut locks all curled and perfect on the top of Bucky’s head. Steve is ten steps away from Bucky, but he can immediately tell that the green was a gorgeous choice to go with his boys’ eyes.

Steve loves Bucky in this suit but wants to rip him right out of it as well.

“Steve, quit it. Does it…does it look okay?” Steve’s heart aches. He’s so in love, so very in love with this man. Steve has moments where he realizes how lucky he is that Bucky chose him, has a thousand a day he feels like, but the ones such as this are rare. One such as this where he can’t tell if he wants to grin or laugh or cry or fall to his knees and grab at any piece of Bucky he can get.

“Buck…’okay’? Sweetheart you look…” Steve can’t even finish his sentence, can’t even find the right words to use and just stands there and watches Bucky look at his feet sheepishly, run his hands down the front of his suit jacket. Steve’s walking before he even realizes he’s the one taking the steps himself and his lovestruck self doesn’t even stop when he gets to Bucky, grabs onto the younger man and walks them back until they’re pressed into the shelves.

“Steve!” Bucky whines through a giggle, Steve feeling hands on his own hips, Bucky’s hands, but he’s distracted, is looking down into Bucky’s eyes and shit—

“Fuck, look at you, sugar. Look at these eyes, god. Is this…Buck, is this velvet?” His hands run from Bucky’s jaw and down to cup at his shoulders, groans when he feels the softness beneath his fingers.

“Nat…Nat said that you’d like it, that you…wouldn’t be able to keep y-your hands off of me.” Bucky’s voice is meek and shy, and it makes Steve want to gobble Bucky up right there, makes him want to hide Bucky away from the rest of the world. He squeezes at Bucky’s shoulders, makes a little rumbly noise before sliding his hands back up to cup Bucky’s face.

“Remind me to send Nat flowers. Has she been hinting at wanting to go somewhere lately? Should we send her away for a weekend? God, Bucky. How am I supposed to keep my hands off of you all night?” and Steve’s voice gets a little deeper, a little breathier, leans in and gives a breathless Bucky a few heated kisses.

“You…you don’t have to,” is what his beautiful Bucky responds with and Steve is so in love. His lips trail from Bucky’s mouth to his jaw, little heated kisses with equally small noises given to each one. Steve’s hands cup Bucky like he’s a rare treasure but his kisses and the sudden roll of his hips are much rougher. Bucky’s noises are surprised, petite, as Steve sucks on the hinge of his jaw.

“No marks! Steve, don’t—” but Steve groans, growls, runs his hands down to cup at Bucky’s ass through his pants that are fucking painted on and—

“Fuck, baby how am I gonna get through the night, huh? Gonna have to keep my hands on you all night, gonna have to make sure people know you’re mine, that you have a Daddy.”

“Steve.” Bucky’s hands get a little more grabby, run up under the older man’s suit jacket, fingers pressing into his shirt.

“Fuck the party—let’s stay home.” Bucky’s giggle is like music to Steve’s ears and he does what he can to catch the melodic noise on his own lips. Bucky’s hands are on Steve’s chest now, pushing at him playfully, and it makes the older man lean and nibble his way up to Bucky’s ear.

“If you think I worried myself sick about this party and dressed up like this and fussed over my hair for nothing, Steve Rogers you are mistaken. We are going and we’re going to have a great time and—quit it!” Steve succumbs with a dramatic sigh, an extra hard squeeze all over.

“In all seriousness, Buck you look incredible. I don’t know what I did to deserve you, sugar but Lord only knows I’ll keep up what I’m doin’.” His voice is low as he attempts to ensure that the younger man fully believes the words he speaks. The flush that rises to Bucky’s cheeks makes more than Steve’s heart ache, makes him press a few more wet kisses to Bucky’s plump lips.

“Thank you. What you’re doing is more than enough, Steve. I love you.” Steve’s grin is entirely out of his control.

“Love you too, baby. You ready?” Steve takes a step back, straightens out a few stray curls of Bucky’s, his own bowtie. The hot pool of arousal heavy in Steve’s gut simmers as he watches Bucky straighten out his jacket, runs his hands down his chest.

“Yes, let’s do this,” and Steve’s grabbing his watch from the drawer to their right as Bucky makes his exit when his boy, (more than out of arms-reach, the smart kid), says—

“Oh, and Steve? Wait until you see what’s under suit, Daddy…”

Steve is a goner.

Do you have any advice for someone trying to start their own literate/semi-literate roleplay? (I know yours is fully literate but I'd like to allow short replies sometimes in mine) It's my first time

Hi there! Oh gosh I have so many things I wish I could have told myself seven years ago when this all began. I’ll try to boil it down to some things I think are most important. But, I already know this is going to be a novel lol. So, sorry in advance.

1. Don’t be too overzealous with the amount of characters, factions and locations in the game: When I first started, I set out to make this massive sprawling faerie world with a choose-your-own-adventure feel to it. I wrote new bios alllll the time, and added new interesting groups and organizations whenever they came to mind. We had everything from barmaids in the distant slums, to wild fae youth living in the woods, to princesses living in the capitol. What this turned into was an rp that had literally over 100 (?!?!) characters to choose from, from pretty much everywhere on this huge map. I got to write all these super fun characters and people seemed really intrigued by the variety. In theory this was great. However, I started to realize that it made it more difficult for our members to come up with storylines long-term. Sometimes it was hard to even come up with how to get two characters with vastly different backstories could be in the same place. In 2018 I did a complete revamp that largely involved finding a more central theme for the rp, and cutting a huge number of bios and groups out. What I landed on was a concept that was a fae royal court drama, instead of a story about an entire faerie world. So, now most characters are nobility, or involved with royals. There is now also a central theme of these warring old fae families, and an established history of backstabbing and scandal. It has helped a lot because now characters have tons of parties, royal events, etc. that they can plausibly meet at and even old beefs between families to stir things up. I could have saved so.much.time if I had really tasked myself in the beginning with deciding exactly what I wanted this story to be about and stopping myself when I started over-designing.

2. Find a really solid admin team that you trust: I think in the beginning I felt like this was rp was my baby, and felt like things needed to be done a specific way. I was more resistant to changing things, even when they needed to be. But, over the years I have gotten to work with so many talented people with skills and ideas I could never have dreamed up. The more open I was to other ideas, the better this rp became. To this day some of my favorite things in the rp were not made by me! Also, find people with strengths you don’t have. For example: I find it really difficult to come up with new events, while the other two admins here are very good at them.

3. Make sure maintaining diversity is a constant goal. Many people are tired of seeing white-washed, straight, cis, non-disabled characters over and over. I think it’s our responsibility as rp admins to make sure our characters reflect the true diversity of the world around us. Add diverse faceclaims, and do your research on any group you are trying to represent that you are not very familiar with to make sure it is done with respect. This includes race, gender, sexuality and body diversity (quite honestly, we are still not where I want us to be with every category yet). We somewhat recently made the choice to disallowing people to change the race of a character because of how often people wanted to swap out a POC for a white faceclaim to make sure our diverse choices stay diverse. On a side note, there are a lot of rph’s (roleplay helpers) who will not promote or shoutout your group if your diversity is lacking. So it’s just beneficial all-around to make sure you’re doing it right.

4. Make sure your roleplay feels unpretentious and un-intimidating even for those who may not have participated in a literate rp before, or never rp’d at all. I think literate roleplays can have a (sometimes earned) reputation for being a bit elitist and intimidating. It can feel like a lot, especially when for so many of these roleplays such a large writing sample is asked for. We made an Application Guide that boils down our most important information, and a description of what is expected of an applicant so that people feel like they have a solid jumping off point. We also send a “How to Get Started” guide to all new members that includes a list of which blogs to follow, the link to our member list, and the link to our rp’s discord channel. If someone tells you they are new to this, really go the extra mile to make sure they are settled and comfortable.

5. Promote your rp effectively: Make sure your theme is easy to navigate, your color scheme is easy on the eyes and fits the vibe of the roleplay, and that a navigation page is easily accessible. Try to make your navigation page as intuitive as possible. If you have lots of lore like we do, making sure people can easily find the article that will answer their question. Also make sure a link to the plot, and characters is visible on the main page.

I recommend making sure your rp’s page really matches your setting and story so that it’s immediately apparent what some of the themes of the plot are. We use lots of royal imagery, fantasy imagery and nature imagery for ours. I know obtaining pretty graphics, especially if you may not be as well acquainted with with photoshop, can be difficult. Do the best you can, with what you have and don’t sweat it too much if it doesn’t start out how you want it to. I taught myself photoshop for this roleplay, and made many of my own graphics at first. They weren’t perfect, but I was able to get the idea across. I found the person who made my current graphics through a roleplay that I loved the aesthetic of. There are definitely some rp helpers on here who accept commissions to design graphics. Some charge, others don’t. Decide what works best for you! Also, make sure that the small

I’m not sure if you know about about making a promo blog, and how to use the tags to promote. Let me know if you don’t, and I can PM you way more info on that because there definitely is a bit of a science to it.

6. Don’t get too let down by slow periods: Obviously I am very very stubborn because this rp is old af. But, just know ALL roleplays have slow periods. I have had apps dry up for weeks or even months sometimes. I have had the dash entirely stop moving before, and activity 99.9% die. This used to absolutely panic me. But, now I get that this is just the inevitability of a long-term roleplay sometimes. It is often an indicator that something needs to change. Adding a fun event, or a new plot drop can make all the difference. We recently did an Avatar: The Last Airbender AU that really boosted activity! If that doesn’t help, troubleshoot by messaging rph’s who offer opinions or rp help, or straight up asking your members what they’d like. Both can have great insight on what you can improve. But, be ready to not always hear what you want to.

The bad guy side of Yoongi. This man made us all his bitches in the Agust D MV, and we’re not even complaining. But leaving his sexiness aside (just for a while, ‘cause damn) let’s talk about how creative this name is. It is a reference to his stage name with BTS ‘Suga’ and his city, the place that made him who he is, we just love it.

MIN YOONGI

There are different sides of him and we learned to see and love all of them. Suga is that talented man that kills us with his stage presence every time we see him doing his work, and Min Yoongi is the sweet boy who once felt insecure about life, but now is living his dream, being the person he always wanted to be.

RAP SKILLS

This is the whole truth: He is one of THE BEST rappers from this era. His skills are something out of this world. This man was born to do this, and he knows it because we all can see how much passion he feels doing it.

I totally believe that every ARMY needs to see his audition video for BigHit, it’s meme gold. Seriously, you won’t regret it. But jokes aside, he had a rough time then, but he overcame his issues with the support of the fandom and his members. He is a perfect example of how things can truly get better, so everybody out there.

We ain’t gonna lie: BTS’ rap line is AMAZING. They sweat talent. Each of them has their own style and they make it fit perfectly in their songs. Masterpieces like Ddaeng need more attention, not just because it is fire, but also ‘cause its genius lyrics.

TAE’S LOVE LETTER

There is a really special video, the BTS Dinner Party, where Tae revealed that Yoongi once sent him a long message saying that he loves him (Jungkook also received such message from him). This is just proof of the taste of how sweet this precious man is. Always grateful and full of love.

SOPE

This is THE ship. The way Yoongi’s attitude and energy change when Hoseok is around is heartwarming. He feels happier and more excited when his sunshine is around. They complement each other perfectly.

SHOOKY

Chihayafuru Reactions 29-40

A bunch of thoughts, but most of it is just me swooning over Taichi (joke) so be warned.

Lol same random background fangirl extras.

It’s interesting how Chihaya’s fixation has shifted a little bit from Arata to the Queen, and by interesting I mean gay.

OMG WHAT. Well I guess it’s better now that Taichi isn’t dating one girl while he’s clearly into another one. I wonder why the author went out of the way to break them up though, having another girlfriend would have been a good excuse to keep Taichi sidelined as a love interest.

Anyway on less shippy talk I like how his first thought goes immediately to Arata. It really strengthens them as a trio that Taichi cares about Arata in his own way too.

It’s interesting that this is how Taichi still sees himself, because it’s how he was when he started the manga but thirty chapters in and several years later I’d say that he’s developed past the point of the kid who stole Arata’s glasses in order to cheat. It’s interesting he still sees himself through that lens though, like perhaps because he’s not being entirely honest with his feelings right now?

You know sometimes I forget this is a sports Josei manga.

I would say though Chihaya’s greatest strength along with her character flaw is her tendency to fixate, so it would make sense that she needs to let go of it.

Callout!!!! Are you perhaps suggesting that Chihaya has a tendency to be in her own head and really only pay attention to people if they’re directly around her all the time, or if they’re a part of her fixation.

I mean I see the reason why for this callout, she’s only thinking about Shinobu not even the opponent directly in front of her.

This is pretty shoneny. I think I’ve seen this exact scene happen in Haikyuu a bunch of times.

ROOT FOR TAAICHI! Whose kidding though there’s no way that Taichi is going to get what he wants and become A level this early in the manga it’ll be more fun if he suffers more.

Chapter 32

Poor Taichi.

That’s probably what’s going to lose him the match though a lack of honesty with his feelings.

(Chihaya’s strength as well as her flaw is fixation shows up again).

I told you. Alright so Taichi looks at Chihaya entirely and not at himself, Chihaya tends to be only able to fixate at one thing at a time, and then Arata is offscreen somewhere. I think I figured out their trio dynamic.

Awe he’s so nice and considerate. See this is the reason why he won he’s better able to look at the other people around him honestly where as Taichi is still struggling with it. He even went out of his way to comfort Taichi when all Taichi did was lash out at him.

Awe babies. Mishima’s so nice he went out of his way to point out the values that Taichi doesn’t see himself because he’s constantly comparing himself to both Chihaya and Arata.

Ilegal!!!!!!!!

Also, reinforcing of the fixation based character flaw. For both of them really.

Once again thematically important that second place isn’t enough for Taichi, and the only way he’ll actually be allowed to advance is to meet his high standards for first place instead of just doing “good enough” in a category.

Hyperfixation repeats again and Taichi pulls her out of it.

On one hand, bi. Aslo thanks author for confirming my guess that Taichi and Queen kind of occupy the same place in Chihaya’s heart right now due to her fixating on them both. How many times can I say fixationin one post?

Why does this manga tease me so much? I’m just a cute girl I don’t deserve this.

Yep, there is the theme of Arata’s arc right there.

Yeah call her out! (god this feels like a callout to me too, be nice manga).

So once again a repettition of Taichi’s tendency to avert his gaze from things intentionally, in contrast to Chihaya whose so headstrong that she does it unintentionally.

BUT HE’S WORKING ON IT MY BOY. At the same time though his eyes are covered so he’s not entirely over it, obfuscation is still at play here, Taichi is still refusing to see his strengths.

It’s so funny when the world just owns Chihaya.

Considering Chihaya’s very childish it’ll be interesting to see if they foil each other in the match. Also fun contrast because the last person Chihaya faced off against was an old lady with kids.

They’e both babies analysis over.

Awe, it’s so nice to see how supportive her mom is.

Oh Taichi. You’re just one big knot. I can’t wait to see you snap.

Gosh it’s like the whole universe exists to remind Taichi that he’s not A ranked.

Awe he sent it after all. Thinking about what Chihaya needed motivated him to send it.

Oh that’s an interesting change in the message. Like I’ve been saying before the dynamic isn’t just a simple love triangle Taichi wants to get acknowledged by Arata too.

sooo i got these very cool questions on anon but im replying on here to make it look neater and to separate them properly, also because they’re gonna get long,,

What's your favorite scene from Voltron? there are a lot of super cute and aesthetically pleasing shots, but im horrible at remembering specific scenes and the first thing that comes to mind right now is the one where lance is about to be shot into space because the Caste is “haunted” and keith saves him riiiight in time. It was thrilling and i screamed a little, i think. Oh, and i like the one where Lance is literally knocked out cold and wakes up for the two seconds needed to shoot the bad guy because big mood and i love him?? I also really like every scene of them training because i dream about having a wing of my house dedicated to fighting with cool murderous robots too. let me dream. In general, the Castle is my fave setting for anything.

Why did you start watching it? my tumblr dash started screaming about it approximately two days after the first season came out and i got curious about the mecha setting ((after evangelion if a thing has really big robots im automatically sold)). i made a quick google search and binge watched it all in a night and long story short now i’m here, ta da! i stayed for the giant cats tbh (and because it’s light hearted fun and i like space)

about the ships: i realized that i’m actually pretty simple minded about it, and that the only one i really care about is lance and happiness. sooo,, there’s that. i rest my case. but klance is the love of my life and hance is cute and keith and mothman are a match made in heaven

Favorite character? AHHH well i guess it’s no secret that my absolute favorite is lance. I just find him really interesting, both because of his flaws and the glimpses of his deepest feelings we’ve seen; he has a really outlandish/goofy sense of humor, which appeals to me greatly, and he’s stubborn and outgoing but in a kind of “fake it till you make it” way and that’s exactly what i need in my life. also, because liking the “i joke about things to feel better about shit and i’m really sarcastic and brash but have an actual crisis going on 24/7” character has kinda been my thing since forever. I’m really excited about seeing how he’s gonna grow up and evolve during the series, i think he has a lot of potential. the same can be said about every other character too, honestly. I guess my favorite part about anything is seeing the character development unfold, and this goes for other shows and fics and books as well. I have the annoying habit of taking characters and wanting to dissect them (figuratively, cough) to see what makes them tick, overthinking way too much about little things and quirks they might have. A well thought out plot isn’t enough to engage me if there aren’t complex characters to sustain it, i’m picky.

Galra Keith or Altean Lance? why must you hurt me so?? i don’t think there’s a real reply to this. well, i mean, galra keith is a little bit canon, but i would be lying if i said that him in purple and with giant fluffy ears wouldn’t appeal to me, for aesthetical reasons,, i guess I’m gonna have to go with altean!Lance? because in that particular au he’s royalty, which suits him (im not smitten, what are you saying) and... no, that’s totally just because i’m smitten. My son looks so good in the altean garments, what can I do. It’s also a very cool take on the whole “everyone is an alien someway but they still meet each other and form a great team because of destiny” thing

Who do you think would take the first step in Keith and Lance's romantic relationship? I would love to think about their romance as them taking small steps towards each other equally to meet in the middle? In a very slow burn way, classic “enemies (in lance’s head) to friends to lovers” trope that you can pry from my cold dead hands. I think they’re both very cautious when it comes to love, for different reasons. Keith is closed off, a little wary about human contact, even if we see him gradually warming up to the team, but he’s also a driven character and seems to me his focus right now is on saving the universe. Which is good, but it’s already a lot on his plate, without adding the whole “half galra” thing which further complicates the situation. Lance is exactly the opposite, he barrels on through human (and alien) interactions and flirts shamelessly, but I think that’s more of an ingrained reflex than real pursuit of a romantic relationship? From little clues, we can guess that he knows his flirting is almost never taken seriously (and just how sad is that wtf lance, baby) and that’s why he does it, because he knows nothing is really going to come from it. The only way I see them going is at a relaxed, almost frustrating pace in which they discover themselves first and then each other, as teammates, then friends and finally lovers.

In the more immediate sense of the reply I think you were asking, it could go both way: once they’ve done their share of self-discovery, Lance may accidentally blurt out something about how he thinks Keith is good at something (his compliments are not often based on physical appearance as much as they are on practical things/personality traits which is very sweet and awesome) and then his babbling escalates in way over the top justifications until he actually confesses the deepest, fluttery feelings he’s hiding in his chest; or maybe it’s Keith to take the first leap of faith, kissing Lance square on the mouth (maybe after a particularly taxing mission where Lance does a stupid heroic thing like trying to sacrifice himself // I’m a fan of clichés and that’s romantic af besides being something that Lance would totally do) because he’s not much of a talker and he’s tired about circling around it. Mark down my words, there’s lots of super cheesy ways it could be done, and I love them all. These two are just the first that came to mind.

Favorite lion (overall shape+colour)? My favorite color is red and I like the smaller lions merely because of practical/aesthetic reasons; besides, the way Red leaps right into action to protect her baby (Keith) is adorable and,,,, my fav is still Blue. I don’t know what to say, it doesn’t make sense, it’s what my heart is telling me. But Red is a close second, let’s call it a tie so i feel less bad about it.

Favourite Coran life stage? teenage emo/you don’t get my feelings you don’t know my life and everything I’ve been through!Coran is my entire life

Favourite planet they've been so far? the Balmera, that’s a really wholesome sentient planet, if i do say so myself. I love it.

Favourite episode out of all seasons? again, i’m calling a tie between the “bonding moment” one for obvious, lame reasons and the space mall because Lance is a dolphin and they literally found a cow and fueled a lot of my headcanons where they can totally buy weird things needed for shameless fanfiction-y purposes

Haggar or Zarkon? Zarkon is a grimy, wrinkly turtle and I really want to get his backstory but Haggar is a pot of unraveled mysteries and she’s way cooler in my opinion

Is Shiro a dad or a big brother? Shiro tries so hard to be a big brother (even if he likes making dad jokes) but he’s just mostly done with everything and overall bad at adulting,, just give him a piña colada, a raunchy romantic novel, put him on a beach lounger with sunglasses and let him rest

Princess Allura or Paladin Allura? both are good. She’s a fundamental asset to the team either way, by backing them up during the battles, piloting the Castle and being their support system (helped by Coran) with stuff they don’t understand - which is a lot because they’re basically going blind into the whole thing. Paladin Allura is something that I love, and she will absolutely kick ass, but I reserve my judgement for when I see what the team is gonna make of it. It surely is gonna change the dynamic a lot and depending on what role she assumes it could be good or absolutely amazing. I’m just really curious about how they’re gonna go about it. But yeah, both are cool. I’ll get you back on what is my fave once I've seen both the options in action.

Everything in the kitchen off to his left reflects the apartment back to him from their shining chrome surfaces.

There’s a door set into the furthest wall from them past the kitchen, and that must be Theo’s bedroom. He’s kind of dying to see it, but doesn’t know how to ask Please let me see your futuristic rich bedroom without it sounding like he’s begging to get fucked. Which, if he’s honest with himself, wouldn’t be so bad. Not in a place like this.

He goes to the glass while Theo goes in the kitchen and gets cups from the cupboard. Liam just looks down in awe, the whole city spread out before him and glittering with the headlights of cars the size of insects. While he’s admiring the city and half-listening to Theo bang around in the kitchen behind him, a sudden thought strikes him:

He turns, nearly slipping on the polished floor. Theo’s barely a couple steps behind him with two cups in each hand full of a steaming liquid, probably tea. The thought slips away quickly as he takes a deep breath.

“Do you want to have sex?” he asks, because it’s the only thing he can offer.

Theo looks taken aback, as though he hadn’t been expecting it, and Liam applauds him silently on his acting. He seems to debate a moment, looking at Liam’s face closely before seeming to decide on something; an expression crosses his handsome features that’s there and gone before Liam can name it. Theo calmly walks over to the long dining room table parallel to the glass window to set down the two cups. He hesitates for just a moment, Liam watching his back like a hawk, and then he’s crossing the distance in just a few strides to sweep him up in a kiss.

Liam makes a surprised noise, but his body reacts immediately. His hands go up to fist in Theo’s shirt as Theo licks at his mouth, biting his lower lip when it opens and then licking desperately behind his teeth. Liam moans quietly, tilting his head back for a better angle, pulling Theo closer against him as the kiss deepens and Theo’s hand trails down his back. The glass of the window is cold through his sweater when Theo turns them and pushes him against it, and his heart flips anxiously at the thought of Theo kissing him so hard the window shatters. But Theo just leans a hand on it, the other buried deep in Liam’s hair to keep him steady.

“God, you’re such a good kisser,” Liam moans pathetically, and he just feels Theo smile against his mouth. The hand in his hair and the one on the window move to his hips, sliding around and down to grip his ass and squeeze hard. It pulls Liam up on his toes, hands going to Theo’s shoulders and then wrapping his arms around Theo’s neck as he gets half-lifted off the floor. Toast of 2017: Sam Richardson on how Richard stays the nicest guy on 'Veep'

The conventional wisdom when it comes to long-running shows tends to be, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But Veep tossed convention out the Oval Office window in its sixth year, when the writers ejected Veep-turned-POTUS Selina Meyer and her semi-competent staff from the White House, forcing them to become political elites in exile. Along with that change of scenery came a shake-up in the established ensemble, with the different characters going their different ways. Dan Egan (Reid Scott), for example, left politics behind for a disastrous career in morning television. Meanwhile, strategists Kent Davison (Gary Cole) and Ben Cafferty (Kevin Dunn) went from advising Selina to (temporarily) advising a new Congressman, Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons). Jonah also said goodbye to his longtime aide, Richard Splett (Sam Richardson), who traded the U.S. Capitol building for Selina’s South Bronx office as her Chief of Staff.

Far from breaking the show, Veep‘s major and minor changes gave it new life. And Richardson, in particular, swam rather than sank in his character’s new surroundings. Always a reliable source of humor, Richard emerged from Season 6 as an invaluable fixture in the Veep universe — largely because he’s the only genuinely nice person on the series. “I was a little nervous,” the actor admits to Yahoo Entertainment about returning to a very different Veep between Seasons 5 and 6. “But I had so much fun. We all know each other pretty well and speak each other’s languages, so it didn’t take a long time for us to gel. Otherwise, the episodes wouldn’t get until Episode 8! I also feel like I know this character enough where I can make him work with anyone. He’s such a jovial person, and part of the fun is pairing him up with someone who hates everything, because he’s so overly optimistic. It’s also fun to be paired with someone who loves everything, because they’d be like two puppies in a playpen.”

If anything, Richardson is even nicer than his Veep alter ego. How nice is he? So nice that he called us on a rare sick day while recuperating from a cold, and happily answered all of our questions about Richard’s crazy backstory, and what it would sound like if he were to — gasp! — insult somebody.

I was the stage manager for an improv group in college, and I remember that one of the big rules they emphasized was the importance of listening to each other and choosing your moment. I see you doing that in Veep: you’re always aware of the conversation happening around you, and pick the right moment to slip in your line. Yeah, it’s kind of like comedy double-dutch. There’s so much going on and it really is like a game! You want your joke to land, but you don’t want it to be at the expense of anything else. It also goes to the way that Richard’s wavelength works. He’s like a coat of paint over what’s going on. It’s a different tone to whatever else is happening in the scene: he’s always a few degrees off from what they’re talking about, but he’s still part of the conversation, you know?

I enjoy how much of Richard’s history is revealed through your off-the-cuff asides. He’s got a bizarre backstory — how much of that is your own invention? I get Richard’s backstory through jokes from the writers, and over the years, they’ve built this history where he was adopted by his grandmother, and his family is heavily into basketball and also heavily religious. Or, you know, him knowing all about jug bands! Maybe down the line, there’s a jug band thing that Richard will be a part of. I never got a character background sheet explaining all that stuff; they’ve all been splattered in there. And there are little details that may be improvised that also go to the canon of the character. I can’t think of one right now — shame on me!

Do you ever worry about keeping his mythology consistent or introducing a bit of backstory that’s contradictory? I never really worry about that. I will bring it up [with the writers]: “Oh, he can’t do that, because he’s already said this was the case.” Again, I can’t think of any specific moments. I’m just the worst interview, I apologize. [Laughs]

In your defense, you are under the weather! I do try and keep track of the history of Richard, because who’s tracking him more than me? Maybe there are some big-time Richard fans out there who follow every reference, but for the most part, I think I know him. So if there are little details that don’t match, like a joke that says Richard went to a different college when we know he went to Yale, I’ll speak up. I want to keep everything as true as possible for him.

You’ve often pointed out that Richard is one of the few characters in the Veep universe who’s not motivated by selfishness or greed. Was that something you brought to the role or was it already part of the character? I think it’s a twist that I kind of brought to it — that he’s maybe the only well-meaning person in Washington who is truly guileless. That was the angle I took to kind of round him out and make him real. What if he was a regular person who watched Veep and was then put in Veep, and is also the nicest person in the world? He’s out of his element, but still really competent.

What’s your take on why he hasn’t been corrupted yet, especially since he’s surrounded by selfishness? He’s just super-positive at processing it, because he’s an incredibly smart guy. He knows so much about veterinary medicine and law, but he doesn’t want to push that advantage. He just likes the process of learning and being part of the government, because he has this belief that government is ultimately there to do good. So when he encounters a negative attack, he can twist it in his mind and go, “There’s gotta be some kind of positivity in this!” In his mind, he thinks that all people intend to do good and he can make anything fit that narrative.

What would an angry Richard look like? An angry Richard would probably bring up something so true, but also not something you would think of as an insult. Like, “You’re a poor decorator, meaning you probably have color blindness!” Or he’d be half-complimentary. Like, “This turkey is pretty dry. What kind of oven do you have? Can I suggest a GE?” People would be like, “Thanks? Should I be insulted?” [Laughs]

I did enjoy how attentive he was to Catherine and Marjorie this season during Catherine’s pregnancy. No one else seemed at all concerned for her. Yup, although that’s not him being entirely altruistic because he’s the father of the child. It’s supposed to be a surrogate situation, but he’s like, “No, I’m going to be the dad.” He couldn’t separate that idea, so to him it’s like, “I’m part of this family right here.” It’s also compassion; everybody else can ignore her, but that’s not part of his DNA.

I’m sure you can’t spoil anything for Season 7, but will those fatherly feelings be an issue? I’ll have to be very careful with my words: it’s not even like it’s a huge spoiler, but I don’t want to be the one! [Laughs] I think Richard one-hundred percent believes that he’s got a son. So moving forward, I can’t imagine that he’d be completely uninvolved in the child’s life. Whether they like it or not, he’s going to be around.

When did the cast know that Season 7 was going to be the last year? We knew before we started the table reads. It’s definitely bittersweet, because you want these things to end on a high note, but it’s also a show that I love doing. I want to do this show for 40 years!

Did you have any input for how Richard’s character arc wraps up? Without spoiling, I’m personally going to be satisfied with his end. It’s a nice finish. [Veep showrunner] Dave Mandel and the writers arc out the whole season and told me. I don’t think I could improve on anything. I’m happy and excited to be a part of it.

When did Julia Louis-Dreyfus tell the cast about her breast cancer diagnosis? She told us prior to the table reads. It was definitely a gut punch. She’s my friend, and I love her dearly. But we’re also work friends, so you don’t want to overstep your boundaries. We did whatever positive things we could do: send cards and text messages and videos. I’m scared for her, but at the same time I know she’s so strong and positive. The first thing she did was bring attention to health care, which is amazing. What person immediately thinks of someone else when they’re going through the hardest thing imaginable?

Has it been hard for the cast to hurl insults at her in the world of the show considering what’s going on in her real life? Well, we’re still in table reads — we haven’t started shooting yet. But I think we have the ability to disassociate ourselves from these characters. Otherwise, my goodness! The amount of vitriol that flies out of mouths at each other would be unfathomable. For Jonah alone! The list of insults that guy gets, come on. [Laughs] That’s the thing, too: You have to separate yourself from it, but it’s still based on you, you know what I mean? I don’t put on a suit and become Richard, and Timothy [Simons] doesn’t put on stilts to become Jonah. That’s us — they’re writing insults about us. But somehow you just get a thick skin and it works.

You have a lot more creative control over Detroiters, the Comedy Central series you co-created and star in. How has being part of Veep helped you make that show? Honestly, so much, even just from following Julia’s lead on how she leads a series. She sets the tone of being very even-keeled and positive the whole time. She’s always there to do her best and be the best, and you learn from that. Also the notes process, in terms of getting notes on your performance and the script. You spend a lot of time writing scenes and, on paper, you’re like, “This is hilarious!” But then you’re on set and it’s not clicking the way you like. Instead of letting it sit, you can massage it and mold it and find what works. Being on the set of Veep gave me the confidence to do that on a level that I’m proud of.

Detroiters is coming back for another season next year. What can you tease about what’s coming up? I feel the second season, dare I say it, is head and shoulders above the first season. We kinda knew what we were doing this time, and were able to scale back on the things that we didn’t like from Season 1 and ramp up the things that we did like. You’re always trying to learn the language of a show, what works and what doesn’t work, and I think the second season really benefits from that.

Has Veep changed the kinds of opportunities that come your way as an actor? I don’t know — I consider myself new to the game still. I’ve only been in L.A. for six years. It does affect it, but I’m certainly going to be playing a guy who’s nice. That seems to be the way it goes. And I don’t mind; I know how to do that. At my core, that’s who I am, but I wonder if people can’t picture me as anyone else. Which my friends know otherwise! Just kidding. [Laughs]

So is your dream role to play a bad guy or a more darkly comic character? Oh yeah. I play a computer terrorist in a new movie called Game Over, Man from the Workaholics guys. But I want to play an evil person who has fun with being evil, like a comic book villain. I want to play my Joker. Not the Joker, but my Joker. Somebody who can have fun doing wrong.

You should write that role for yourself! I’m trying to figure that out right now. We’ll see — hopefully that’s something that will pop in the coming year.

Last question: is there a secret part of Richard’s history that you want to explore in Veep‘s final season? I’d like to incorporate maybe Richard’s love life or something.
