♡ Underrated Safe Foods ♡
Hii!! Since my last underrated safe food post blew up so much I thought I’d make a part two to these!
These r gonna be a lot more specific, as I’ll mention a lot of brands here (I’m in the US btw, pretty much all of these can be found at publix)
Quest protein chips - starting strong w these cause oh my god. They have around 20g of protein, 4g net carbs, and 140 cals per bag. The best part is, I cannot lie when I say these are actually SO MUCH better than any greasy calorie dense chip brand. My fav flavor is the chili lime, but there’s also loaded nacho, and the flavoring is so accurate on both!!!!/!!/ get these guys please
Enlighten bars (Sea Salt Caramel) - do you guys like ice cream bars? Do you also like them for only 80 cals?/?/? Yeah. There’s no catch like “it’s actually just frozen breast milk” or sum shit. I have no idea what they put in those things but man are they good, I wouldn’t even care if it was actually frozen breast milk
Raspberries - now you might be thinking “wdym those aren’t underrated everybody has fruit as a safe food” but nobody ever mentions the nutrients. Specifically FIBER. People always ignore fiber in their wl journey but it’s so important. Raspberries are a perfect fiber rich low cal food that you guys NEED to get on.
Kimchi - if you’re not familiar, kimchi (김치) is a korean food which is basically fermented cabbage in liek a sauce…i don’t know what the sauce is iforgot. But anyway, since it centers around cabbage, I think it’s no surprise that these are an amazing low cal option. And the best part is, the fermentation process produces a ton of healthy gut bacteria. It’s a lil bit sour so I personally don’t like it, but my friend does, and maybe that’s why he’s 15 lbs lighter than me
Egg whites - eggs themselves are amazing for wl, but you can enjoy them for a fraction of the cals. Most of the protein is in the whites anyway, so egg whites are genuinely one of the best sources of protein while also being extremely low cal. If you want, you can make your eggs with just one full egg and then mostly egg whites, and I like to sprinkle a little bit of feta in there so life doesn’t suck
Microwaved fiber one brownies - a little bit specific, but why eat your fiber brownie when it’s dryer than this pu-
when you can microwave it for a lil bit, add sum whipped cream (don’t come for me it’s high volume so it’s not actually that many cals) and have basically a hot fudge brownie for under 100 cals. You deserve to feel something every once in a while, and though it might not be the same, the brain fog from fasting will probably hinder your ability to tell the difference
That’s all!! If you guys have any more questions feel free to ask. Hopefully this list will help you diversify your diet, because I can imagine biting into your 3rd cucumber of the day just makes you sad.

Making Monster High a little more... Monstrous
Werewolves are obligate carnivores and cannot properly digest vegetation. They also run hot, with the healthy temperature being 101 to 102 F
In the same vein, they will becomes sick if they eat stuff like chocolate, tomato, onion, etc
Zombies like Ghoulia always smell like rich, wet earth. Not even the strongest perfumes can completely mask it
Mummies like Cleo survive without most of their organs
Gorgons like Deuce are cold-blooded and can't survive temperatures less than 60 F.
Fire elementals like Holt and Heath run very hot, to the point where they have an aura of heat like an open flame. They also have a higher blood oxygen, levels that are dangerous for a human.
Human-ish monsters like Jackson or Bloodgood have to be careful around vampires. Even vegan vamps like Draculaura could go into a frenzy at the sight of blood if they're hungry enough.
Ghosts, phantoms, reapers, and others have an aura of cold around them
Snow monsters like Abbey are most comfortable in temperatures less than 32 F and can't survive temperatures greater than 80 F. All snow monsters at Monster High have a thirty-minute break every two hours to retreat to the freezer to keep their temperature at safe levels
Aquatic monsters like Lagoona are always allowed to go to the gym, even in the middle of class, to use the shower and rehydrate their skin.
Twyla has to focus to be solid. Most of the time she's as material as a mist
Gargoyles like Rochelle are naturally drawn to high places
Plant monsters like Venus are producers, meaning they need sunlight, water, and a nutrient mixture so that they can make their own food
Ghosts can't have anything with salt, vampires and werewolves can't touch silver

I would love to know more about the cave au. Why are the cave more dangerous now? Who's death Dream managed to get safety for bringing them back?
And because I'm a huge fantasy dwarves and fallen london fan : how did the architecture change? Is it safe to build underground or is everyone nomadic now? How is the food situation?
Long post oh boy!
The cave au is kinda like taking Dream's original mention of a "world altering event" and making it very literal. In minecraft terms, I'd describe it like the cave and cliff update installed overnight except on amplified mode. All of this is because there is so much imbalance™, that's the overworld is behaving erratically.
Most of the shifting already occurred underground by the time they noticed something was wrong. But things shifted a looott to the point where what they had explored had been altered or displaced, and what now expands below dwarfs their existing tunnels in comparison. So to answer the first question, it's essentially uncharted, for one. For two, the mobs are acting as unpredictable as the earth is, swarming the tunnels en masse. But more importantly, the longer theyre down there, the longer this goes on, the more the mobs get altered themselves. (which originally was so i can say hey more things glow now :) pretty!) But now, we're talking like massive spiders in every classic work of fantasy. I'm mulling over introducing new things here too, for flavor. (like those mods with the huge centipedes ughuhg) Maybe a warden or two gets displaced and starts wandering the tunnels, who knows! On that note, sculk is probably on the rise as well and they need to be careful about keeping it from getting too close.
As for who dies-- ngl, I haven't decided 100%. For what it's worth, this is only the First death, not the only one. I've been thinking one of the teens, as they seem most likely to wander too out from camp and get Got by something. First I thought Tubbo, but I don't really want Tommy to have to ask Dream to bring him back. (not like he'd do it alone- the entire group wants to avoid casualties) Then I thought Tommy, but discduo can't hog limbo forever, right, we've been there and seen that! My desire to not repeat things that already happened in canon vs whatever actually feels most likely, FIGHT!!
I haven't put too much thought into generated structures yet, like the dungeons or ancient cities, but I would like there to be some change there as well. It'd be coooool. (shaking your hand, i loove dwarven architecture) The walls of the caverns themselves often have a stretched feel about them. A looot of stalactite and stalagmites, on massive scales. I'd say it is safe enough to build, once they find a place that feels fitting- a cavern big enough for them but not too big that they'll have to share it. Water, nutrient rich dirt, existing vegetation preferred, etc etc. But even then, the caves do still shift on occasion. Basically earthquakes that will require them to do some repairs and plan structures around, but it's possible! They think, anyway :D
And finally food. They go in prepared the best they can. A lot of them has massive farms and lots of animals, ofc. They can't drag too many animals into the caves with them, but they prepared as much food as they could before going on, with intentions to start new farms once they settle down. Lots of potatoes, yay for Dream! And Some the underground lakes have a surprising about of fish in them. In all the uproar above ground, there was a lot of flooding, but many of those bodies of water pooled underground as well, taking the fish with them. This becomes a bit more reliable as time passes as well, as the fish adapt.
I'm kinda rolling with mobs very short life cycles and using that to explain why they change so much faster. Also Magic™

Drinking Water & Staying Hydrated
On this account we cover how to do things that are "common sense" for the people who dont know. Shame-free. Today, we'll be covering some tips and tricks for drinking more water when you're unmotivated to or simply forget.
If you were to ever find yourself lost in the wilderness, the first thing you would wanna look for ASAP is a source of water. Humans need around 8 glasses (~2L) of water a day that our bodies can function right! It's very important, as dehydration can lead to constipation, kidney stones, overheating, exhaustion and generally a really bad mood!
Water helps to..
• keep your joints flexible
• regulate your temperature
• clean your insides via sweat/urination
• digest, salivate, transport nutrients
• carrying oxygen to your cells
• maintaining electrolyte balance
And much more. We're made up of around 60% water, after all. Though, drinking that much water every day can be a very tiresome chore for many of us, especially those who struggle with executive dysfunction and mental illness. Never fear: we've compiled a big list of little actions you can take that might help you drink a little bit more water in a day. Don't worry if 2 liters of water sounds like a big step! Even a few sips more makes a big difference. Progress is not linear!
────────────
1) Switch it up - Water is obviously tasteless and for many people this deters them from staying hydrated when they could opt for something more sweet or exciting like a juice or soda. Luckily, there are dozens of ways to spice up your drinks. Hundreds of artificial flavorings exist; MiO, Sunkist, Starburst and other more affordable off brand water enhancers can transform your drink into something more flavorful. Whether you want something tart like lemonade, savory like iced tea or sweet like fruit punch, there's an enhancer that will fit your taste.
If you would prefer something more natural, there's countless recipes for fruit infused water. Cucumbers, lemon slices and mint can give your water that subtle boost you need to encourage hydration. Below we'll link some recipes if you'd like to try them.
For some people, its not so much the taste, but more so the texture. If you're a soda lover, opt for some sparkling water instead, flavored or unflavored. Brands like LaCroix, Sparkling Ice and Bubly can all give you the same smooth sipping of a soft drink while helping you meet your water quota for the day.
If none of these sound like something you're interested in, you can always opt for making tea instead, hot or iced. If you like cold drinks, you could make a whole pitcher and keep it in your fridge for easy access, whether its chamomile, matcha or plain old Lipton.
2) Make it fun - Making yourself genuinely want to do something is a great way to tackle executive dysfunction. If you're able and open to spending some extra money, buying yourself a fun new water bottle can make you want to use it and carry it with you. Personalization is another way to make a new water bottle even more fun or enhance one you already have. Add dishwasher safe stickers, customized beaded/braided handles and marked timestamps.
A free, more low effort alternative to make drinking water fun is to download an app such as Plant Nanny. Its premise is simple - drink water and in return you water an adorable plant in app. With your help, they'll grow up and you can slowly collect them all. Its a bright, colorful, interactive game that will help you visualize your needs and be rewarded for taking care of them.
3) Eat your water - If the action of drinking is something you struggle with, opt for eating water-rich foods. On top of being a great way to meet your water goals, it comes with more nutrients, vitamins and fiber than regular water while leaving you feeling filled. Below are some fruits and veggies you can snack on that will leave you feeling more hydrated.
Cucumber - 96% water
Celery - 95% water
Spinach - 93% water
Watermelon - 91% water
Cantaloupe - 90% water
And much more!
For something more fun, you can always make some popsicles with coconut water (94% water) and fruit. Pop those in the freezer and have delicious ice pops ready to go in a few hours.
4) Reminders and Encouragement - If you dont have an issue with drinking water but you often forget, a gentle push in the right direction may be all you need. Ask your friends or family for motivation and reminders. You can even challenge them or work towards goals together! Theres nothing better than some friendly competition.
Apps like Waterminder, Waterllama and Habit Tracker can all send reminders to your phone and help you track your progress. If you dont want to download an app, you can always just set some alarms as well. Plant Nanny, as mentioned above, is a fun alternative to this that brings gaming into the picture.
5) Passive Influence - Making some small changes to your routine can make drinking water passively a lot easier. Keep your water bottle on you, carry it from room to room, that way its always easily accessible when you're thirsty.
Switch out your regular snacks for something spicy or salty. Get a bowl of pretzels and a glass of water at the same time and you'll find yourself drinking it with ease. Potato chips, lays, fries or salted nuts are all great options.
If you cant find yourself able to replace your regular beverage with water, challenge yourself to drink a glass of water before you have one. Keep water bottles (plastic or reusable) next to your regular drink in the fridge so you remember to grab both. Another quick way to get some added hydration is adding extra ice to what you usually drink. About 8 cubes is a cup of water!
Always get a glass of water before bed so you have something to sip on, and in case you wake up feeling thirsty. Its a good habit to also get a glass of water right when you wake up. Thats already knocked two glasses out of the way for the day.
Another great idea as a passive, unscheduled reminder, is to drink water every time you use the bathroom. Theres no shame in leaving your water bottle in there as a gentle reminder when you walk in.
────────────
Most importantly, more important than drinking 8 glasses of water a day, is to be gentle with yourself. Its okay if you struggle with drinking even one glass a day. Just trying to take small steps in the right direction takes a lot of strength. Try some of these tips out, even if you don't think they'll work for you. Who knows, one might change your relationship with water before you know it!

Looker and Anabel's Pokemon
Due to the fanfic Neither Black Nor White on AO3 (Rated Mature), I was thinking about my headcanons for Pokemon husbandry and what it takes to keep such amazing, unique, and uniquely costy creatures, especially in the terms of Anabel.
Looker is pretty simple since he only has Croagunk, but a good reason he has another Croagunk after his last one's passing is that he's well aware of the species and how to properly care for one.
Tumblr media
An old piece but Looker wears safety gloves when handling this species. Not just to protect himself from the poison that seeps from its body fairly naturally (even if it's in very low doses) but mostly because amphibians are very porous. Gloves that do not irritate its skin and are frequently washed are something Looker has for the lil guy. He also is well aware of how Croagunk's poison/venom works: in very low doses from a Poison Jab it can safely knock down a fully grown person to put them in a drowsy state. It can even be reworked for medicinal purposes.
Beyond that he's well aware of the environment Croagunk needs to thrive. Regular water misting or splashes in bodies of water keep the frog's skin moist, but Croagunk isn't too hard to maintain due to the body size and species.
The real tricky person is Anabel.
Tumblr media
Now still on Looker's side, Anabel has given him (forced onto him, really) shared custody of her Riolu/Lucario in my headcanon. He's been learning how to take care of such a Pokemon, which is actually quite a simple species due to being a loyal canine. I don't believe Pokemon eat processed kibble, but Lucario can eat a diet similar to a human except with more of a meat/eggs focus. (And no chocolate, I don't believe the Lucario Movie in the slightest.) Unlike Croagunk, doesn't need a special place to sleep or regular skin moistenings.
Now firmly on Anabel, we have from order of obtainment: Snorlax, Alakazam, Raikou, Latios, Entei, Weavile, Mismagius, Salamence, and (Shared Custody)Lucario.
Having a Munchlax/Snorlax starter ALONE sounds costly enough. It's known to be a gluttonous Pokemon, so it's already expensive by itself. Anabel thankfully has a plan. International Pokemon League Societies provide benefit for trainers: things like access to specialized food, items, and certifications based on the level trainer someone is. (This is why you can only buy Ultra Balls after certain amount of accomplishments.)
So Anabel has special nutrient rich Snorlax food that keeps it happy. Snorlax as a species tend to fall under "you are what you eat" so if they eat low energy vegetation they'll need a lot, versus high protein/calorie food products that get processed easier into energy. Snorlax also enjoys restaurants that also serve the Pokemon, as it can enjoy human-based food as treats.
Alakazam and Weavile are simple diets like Lucario and Croagunk. Mismagius doesn't need to eat but can "ingest" a treat if she wants to. Salamence needs more due to size but can eat fruits, root veggies, eggs, and meat.
And then there is Raikou, Entei, and Latios. Two big cat carnivores and one long-migration Pokemon, all legendaries. There is not enough information about this Pokemon, and people who train legendaries are but a handful. Anabel needs a properly licensed certificate alone for Salamence and Snorlax. She needs a VERY SPECIAL certification and Trainer ID to even allow for her rare, precious, and intense legendary creatures-- and to prove that she can take proper care of them.
They are like endangered species mixed with cryptids, and their diets can be specialized. Thankfully, however, Latios is easy to feed with a similar diet to Salamence except with less meat. He often finds food on his own, however. Raikou and Entei can have meat at home, but would much rather hunt for their own food. That being said, they also seem to gain energy from volcanic activity and thunderstorms, as they are still a rather mystical species. Anabel is weary about letting them hunt for themselves, because they fall under an invasive species or something akin to letting your cat be an outdoor cat so that it kills all the birds in the area (Not cool. Stop making your cat an outdoor cat.)
But if anything, Latios, Raikou, and Entei are very, very intelligent. They don't overhunt; they take what they need from the earth and repay it. They rely on the energy of the planet as well as the energy of their diet, so they are three independent Pokemon that keep themselves fed.
Even so, with International Police and the League Associations, Anabel can breathe easy that she's not breaking the bank just to keep her Pokemon fed. Just as long as she's following regulations and providing research info on rare species, a lot of her food costs as subsidized or her Pokemon are taken care of when she uses the PC to send them over to a general caretaker.
Burnet and Wicke in Alola provide free health screenings on her Legendaries as they are the only ones Anabel trusts, and they want to work with such increadible Pokemon!
And that's what I have in terms of Pokemon husbandry. It can be rather difficult to upkeep such increadible creatures without extra help, so this is probably why so many people have one or two Pokemon that are considered more pet-like than anything.

some of my sylvari headcanons for ur reading pleasure
Their stomachs are pitcher plants + dragon magic. meaning they can eat rocks if they want but its probably a bad idea. nutrient rich food is even more useful and good for their bodies. mentors have to teach saplings to Stop eating the fucking rocks and dirt PLEASE pale mother WH
When they blush their bioluminescence flairs up, and pulses two to four times across their cheeks, whereever their facial glow pattern already is. the pulsing can happen at night, when they naturally glow. depending on the individual, either, the pulses are brighter than their average glow or the pulses cause their glow to dim before brighting in time with the pulse. sounded super cute to me so ive kept it around.
some sylvari are several types of plants, with branches, moss, AND fungus, or any other combination. this one is just neat to me design-wise.
some sylvari are One Single plant, depending on the plant, this can cause certain sylvari to be extremely sensitive and fragile physically and/or mentally. Orchid sylvari who cannot leave maguuma without major issues or require a lot of aid to enable their travels. vine-based sylvari who Need someone else there to feel safe or else theyll panic. preferably a sylvari who's a tree. that they can cling to. sylvari whose flower scent causes them to be mobbed by insects more than anyone else. etc.
their tongues' color matches their color pattern, if they have one. otherwise its the same color as their bark/skin.
sylvari can gain muscle or change their body's physical traits by Thinkin Real Hard about it and photosynthesizing for one to two weeks. genderfluid sylvari make a lot of use of this. if theyre trying to heal an old wound it might take several weeks, depending on the scar or wound. this whole thing is more difficult if done alone, the more common method is asking the pale tree Hey mom. Can i try some shit. I need to borrow a pod for a few weeks plz.
they can also gain muscle same as humans but that takes some extra work and time compared to the sylvari shortcut.

Similar to how ginger messes up a Gallifreyan's metabolism, are there any things that they can consume and humans can't?
Gallifreyan Metabolism
⚡Artron-Enhanced Digestion
Gallifreyan digestive systems are not just about breaking down food; they're equipped with artron energy, allowing them to neutralise substances that might be toxic or indigestible to humans. This artron infusion within their digestive juices acts as a safety check, ensuring that everything absorbed is beneficial or at least not harmful.
🔄Metabolic Flexibility
Thanks to their ability to metabolise a wide range of substances, Gallifreyans can safely consume foods rich in compounds that might be problematic for humans. For instance, foods high in certain alkaloids or heavy metals, which could accumulate and cause toxicity in human bodies, are rendered harmless and potentially even nutritious due to Gallifreyan physiology.
🌱Nutritional Adaptability
Their bodies are adept at extracting nutrients from virtually any consumable matter, meaning Gallifreyans could find sustenance in materials humans would find inedible or nutritionally void. This could include certain types of flora and fauna unique to alien environments or even synthetic compounds designed for energy storage rather than traditional nutrition.
🍴Some Theoretical Foods:
Something with time particles: Foods rich in time particles would be edible and even beneficial to Gallifreyans, offering a temporal boost that humans have no business handling.
Something from the vortex: Gallifreyans might enjoy foods that exist only in the Time Vortex, packed with extradimensional energies that are indigestible or toxic to humans.
Something very high energy: Gallifreyans can digest high-energy foods that would overwhelm a human's digestive system, drawing sustenance from what humans might consider dangerously potent.
Something metaphysical: Tapping into their higher-dimensional awareness, Gallifreyans might consume foods with metaphysical properties, utterly inedible to humans.
Something psionic: Foods that interact with the Gallifreyan's psionic abilities could be commonplace for them but have no effect or be outright harmful to human physiology.
🏫 So...
While ginger throws a wrench in their metabolic works, Gallifreyans are much better at consuming a broader spectrum of substances. Their biology allows them to explore culinary horizons well beyond human limitations, turning potentially harmful elements into sources of sustenance.
Hope that helped! 😃

I have important question, what do you use as fertilizer for plants? I don't really want to buy one and I read there are options, like veggie broth or tea, but I am unsure what works best. I read some use a bit of menstrual blood diluted in water, which I am tempted to try, but wonder how weird it is.
I use menstrual blood diluted in water every time! But there's not enough of that to be a consistent fertilizer, or to work for the entire garden. Here's stuff that I have tried out:
urine dilluted 1:10 with water! It has a great amount of nitrogen and trace amounts of other minerals, do not use it more than two times a month, and not on tiny plants. It's the best for green growth
fermented nettle: for this, fill a plastic container that you can close, with big nettles, and then pour water on them, all the way to the top, and close it up. Leave in hot sun to ferment for 10 days. Once it's done it will stink, and I mean, stink badly. Dillute 1:10 before watering your plants with! Don't use on peas, beans and other legumes, they do not like the nitrogen.
fermented comfrey: same as nettle, has so many good nutrients in there, has tons of calcium, will help your plants a lot!
menstrual blood diluted with water: safe for all plants, plants absolutely love blood
if you suspect your plants are lacking in some minerals you can use egg shells, or even crushed shells from the beach/river, and put them in your soil to make sure there's enough calcium in it! I didn't do a lot of this but the plant lady is always doing it
Mulch: it means putting organic material on top of the soil, this can be hay, straw, cut grass, dried leaves, pine needles, cut off tree branches, plant cuttings or leftovers, whatever has fallen off a plant or a tree is in this category. Now what will happen is these materials, exposed to the sun and elements, will start to degrade and compost themselves into your soil, and you will have fresh organic compost on top of your soil. Once your mulch degrades to compost you can add more material! Endless fertilization and fixing the soil and making sure you little worms have food to eat.
Stuff I've only heard of:
coffee grounds: apparently they're very good for soil and feeding the plants!
if you have leftovers of food in the forms of fish or bones, those are great for fertilization! There even are specific fertilizers called 'bone meal' or 'fish fertilizer' because plants really love that kind of stuff. It's better to compost them first though or add them in crushed form, they need to be reduced to the elements before plants can absorb them
Mushrooms: if you can get any fungal growth in your garden it's extremely healthy for your plants! If you're only looking for potted soil disregard this. But garden plants love having mushrooms around and if you have any mushroom growth it means your soil is super healthy
compost tea: I am sure this one is amazing because 'Roots and Refuge' farm used it to rejuvinate their soil after it's been poisoned by herbicide. I'm not sure how I would do it with my outside compost pile but the idea is to put your half-composted leftovers into water, leave it there for some hours, and strain it out, so the water has taken tons of nutrients from it, and then you water your plants with it! In general, whatever you use dissolved in water will have immediate effect because your plants will draw that water in immediately. It takes a bit to absorb stuff you put in the soil!
I guess I shouldn't leave out the 'traditional' fertilization methods, which is animal poop, just in case you have like, chicken or bunnies or something making a lot of poop, that can be used as fertilizer. Do look up what poop needs to be composted for a while first though! Some animals like cows produce poop so nitrogen-rich it would fry your plants if used immediately, it needs to sit for a year first.
Good luck to your plants, you never have to buy fertilizer because there is so much of nutrients in nature you can always get it for free, with just some basic knowledge of how to get to it :)

Tumblr media
“Hello Curtis,” Y/N calls from the kitchen as he walks through the door to her apartment. “Come on in and have a seat. I’ve cooked something a little less rich this time that should help keep your body from crashing. Again, I’m very sorry about that.”
Curtis walks towards the little dining table and sits, “you don’t need to apologize. You had no idea. And we got our rations delivered this morning. Thank you for keeping your promise.”
“Well no one should have to go without a full complement of nutrients,” Y/N brings over a couple plates of spaghetti with meatballs and sits with him. “Would you like some shredded cheese to go with?”
“Umm,” Curtis hesitates, “whichever option you’re going with. We’re already out of my depth here.”
“Oh,” Y/N stops, “I’m so…” “Please,” Curtis interrupts. “Please don’t say you’re sorry. You didn’t know, now you do.”
“Thank you, again, for your patience with me,” Y/N smiles. Curtis’s inner Alpha has started to like making her smile. It’s something he knows he’s going to have to be careful with.
“Do you mind if we talk while we eat,” he asks.
“Not at all! I’m happy to listen. You just might need to wait for responses until I’ve finished my bite of food,” Y/N chuckles.
Curtis can’t help but smile back, “thank you.” Y/N’s inner Omega practically preens at being able to make the Alpha smile. She knows it’s genuine and she’s delightfully surprised.
The two talk over dinner about the kinds of benefits his Pack could receive. Curtis’s priority was clearly the health and well-being of the pups. Y/N promised to look more into the matter but she was sure that one of the benefits the Pack would receive was that none of the pups would ever be recruited to be Emotional Support Betas. She was able to confirm they would receive better education, better access to food, supplies and housing.
When dinner was finished Curtis insisted on helping with the dishes. He wasn’t used to being taken care of and couldn’t just sit at the table while she cleaned, especially when she’d also cooked. He got a good whiff of her kitchen and almost coughed at the myriad of herbs and spices he’d never smelled before. They stood next to each other at the sink, her washing, him rinsing, and he found himself drawn to the calmness of her scent. Warm vanilla was quite comforting amongst the strange, almost overpowering smells of the kitchen.
“So, what other questions do you have,” Y/N asked, hands busy with the dishes to distract herself from how close she was to him, how good he smelled.
“Do you think I can meet Jake? He’s a big part of your life, practically your Pack. It’d feel wrong to not meet him.”
“Yes, of course,” Y/N replied excitedly. “Just not today. He’s using our date as an excuse to go on a date with another Beta. She’s really sweet and I hope it goes well.”
Curtis nodded, trying to focus on the dishes, trying to figure out how to proceed safely.
“Are you okay,” Y/N asked. “Is something agitating you?”
“Um,” Curtis panicked. “I think it’s the herbs and spices you’ve got in here. It’s a lot of smells I’ve never smelled before. How do you not get overwhelmed? You’re super sensitive to scents.”
“It’s two-fold, really. The first part is that I’m used to them. I spend a lot of time in here, so I’ve developed a kind of tolerance. If we were out in the hallways and there were a bunch of these scents out there it would certainly throw me for a loop. The second part is that I can identify the individual scents. From the spicy cinnamon to the bittersweet dong quai and even the sharp peppermint. Knowing what they are is a significant help to not letting them overwhelm me.”
“You may want to swap them out a bit. One of them is smelling like it’s going bad.”
“Oh that’s probably the black kohosh. It smells pretty bad in herb form but the taste when used in tea is actually pretty calming and earthy.”
“Huh. Next time I visit, would you be willing to make some tea? Help me learn about this plethora of smells?”
“You…you actually want to meet up again?”
“Yeah. You’re surprised?”
“Heh, I was certain you were going to come back and tell me, at some point tonight, that you weren’t interested,” Y/N gives a soft smile. “It’s nice to be wrong about something and have it be a good thing. Thank you.”
“Well, nothing’s set in stone,” Curtis quickly rebuts. “But I’m interested in learning more about what kind of life I’d have here.”
“True. Very true,” Y/N nods her head. “I could give you a tour of places in the building you’d be allowed to visit but…but there is a catch.”
Curtis notes the nervousness in her scent and asks her what she means. She hesitates as she passes him another dish to rinse and he gently presses her to tell him.
“I…for safety, I…I have to give you a temporary mark,” she rushes out the last part. “I will absolutely understand if you’re not up for that. It’s a lot to ask of you. But it would be for your safety. You’d be an unknown, unclaimed Alpha and it just wouldn’t be safe or responsible of me to put you in potential danger. Or cause potential danger. Some of the other Alphas and Omegas might get territorial. I’m so sorry. Like I said, I’ll understand if it’s a step too far for you.”
Curtis holds her hand, “it’s also just a temporary mark, right? Those things fade after just a day or two and it doesn’t permanently seal me to you, right?”
“Right,” Y/N confirms. “But it can still be quite the show of trust and I don’t know if you’re ready for that.”
“Y/N,” Curtis sighs, “there’s not much in life that I’m certain of. But I am absolutely certain that you would never purposefully hurt me.” Y/N tears up and hugs Curtis tightly, whispering a thank you, as he cautiously, gently, returns the hug. He’s a little nervous because her height gives her access to the mating gland on his neck but he hopes all she smells is the sincerity of his words. He knows. His inner Alpha knows she would never hurt him.
Y/N breaks the hug and comments that she’ll give him a tour after they finish the dishes.

Caring for a Kiddo with ARFID. . . 🕸️🐾
(avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder)
• Trying to incorporate fibre rich / healthier foods into safe/comfort foods
• Checking in that they’ve eaten today and never getting mad when they haven’t 💗
• Learning their sensory issues and finding ways to get the proper nutrients while respecting their dislikes
• Cutting foods into silly shapes to distract from the textures
• Making games up to try and get them to eat more (I recommend rewards (deserts/treats! but only if they don’t struggle with “earning” foods), playing catch (throwing the food in the air and catching it in your chompers!), or even eating like specific animals!!)
• Never pushing their sensory issues, especially when they’re regressed (they know their body best 🫶🏻)
• Always being proud of them for eating, no matter how “small” it may seem to you
• Listen and learn, your kiddo is recovering and healing, and the best thing you can do is love them 💞

Extra info for the 🧪Brood🐝 AU:
I mentioned that only M-Tier Drones oversee the conversion of P-Tier Drones, right, and that it is always two or more who are caretakers to the changing person during the whole process (and more or less are going to dogpile cuddle them once they're well enough). Yeah. The two who willingly volunteered (nearly caused a civil war among the queens) were Logan (Wolverine) and Victor (Sabretooth). Reader is someone they both care about, and their protectiveness and obsessiveness only grew after they became monarchs over the brood collective. (Reader's mutation might even be similar to their mutations, so both kinda mentored/watched over them, so they could help them and see if they could get Reader to join them). Those two care about their little kitten/pup/cub, and who better to keep them safe, loved on, and cared for during their conversion? Of course, Reader freaks the fl*p out when faced with the fact there is no getting out from the cell/unit they're in unless someone allows it... And when told that will only happen once they're ready to undergo the process of converting... Reader is only filled with dread...
Reader for this AU could have a mutation similar to, say, a fox or cat? They have some form of claws, they have sharp fangs, and they like/need to form bonds with other people. They definitely make cute baby animal noises in their sleep.
I still am using an X-Men Evolution reboot/au as the way I imagine the characters. It's my favorite X-Men media, Logan is a dad, Storm is team mom, the teens are fun/cute together, and they all could actually get along if it weren't for the opposing sides issue.
There are about five (5) stages to a P-Tier Drone Conversion:
Stage One (1): Prepping/Injections
They would be preparing Reader and the necessary drugs/nectars/medicines, then proceeding. Reader would be bathed, given a light drug, then given a medical exam. Once that is complete, they would be fully sedated and given injections of the drone serum (P-Tier), nectar (a substance that mixes with it and helps form their new skin), and royal honey/jelly (nutrient-rich food, especially good for drones, and is reserved for M-Tier and P-Tier). Over anything from a few days to a week or two, they would receive small doses, until their body had enough. Then it's on to stage two...
Stage Two (2): Feeding/Recovery
This stage would be where Reader is kept in a sleepy, relaxed state, mostly unaware and unable to comprehend much. During this time in when they need to be fed, kept warm, and not move too much, as their body slowly let's the drugs, sedation, and venom/nectar/honey take effect. The assigned (and eager) caretakers are especially careful, soft, and cuddly during this time, as they are the ones who will be providing everything the soon-to-be-drone needs. (They supply comfort, make sure that their charge eats/feeds, give warmth and kisses/licks/nuzzles/hugs, whatever is wanted and required). This stage could take quite awhile, depending on Reader's health (they lived through an apocalypse, so their health isn't all there)... After this, comes stage three...
Stage Three (3): Wake-up/First Steps
This stage is when the caretakers (and other M-Tier/queen drones) would let Reader become aware since the process began. It would also be when they start taking baby steps into adjusting to the new changes they've gone through. Some sedation might be needed during certain periods, but otherwise, comfort, warmth, and snuggling is the go-to method of calming them down. (Plus, due to the whole changing going on, Reader is going to be napping. A LOT. You bet they get annoyed on finding out they're basically going through a toddler-like stage as their new changes slowly settle in). Learning how to stay up, maintain their thoughts and the P-Tier hivemind in their head, walk with their (slightly changed) body, and having to be taught (forced) to not try to bite/kick them for doing this to them. (They will defend their actions, saying it was for their good. They couldn't stand to lose them, and this way, they can have them with them, protected, and unable to get hurt). This stage wouldn't take too long, as it overlaps into...
Stage Four (4): Full Recovery/Final Steps
This stage is where Reader would begin to fully recover, their body having acclimated and themself grown used to it and any changes. Once deemed healed enough, they would be taught (told) of the final steps of the process. Those steps include learning of the hierarchy, settling into the P-Tier and M-Tier cells/units, accepting the hivemind, and seeing their new life as good. (Easier said than done. Reader is stubborn)... That leaves the final stage...
Stage Five (5): Completion
Where Reader would have to/has given in (by their own will or by the others), and has accepted what has happened, this settling them into their new role. They would be kept within the walls of the Hive, where they and the other adored ones can be protected and watched at all times. They would likely be given control of some things, but otherwise... They'd never be able to leave their new life...
Yet... Reader, once they're aware enough to understand what's happening, doesn't go down without a fight. After all, if they can somehow leave the Hive... perhaps they can reverse the conversion, or at least postpone it. They want to try to save the others, but first, they have to save themself.

One thing about our new garden is that the soil is shit.
I am begging people not to rake up all their leaves in the fall and all their grass clippings in the summer. Every time you dispose of this organic "waste" you're taking the nutrients those plants pulled up out of the soil and throwing it away. Plus, you're destroying habitat for loads of important insects and fucking with the whole ecosystem.
The people who owned the house before us clearly raked and removed loads of leaves and clippings for the 30 years they lived in the house. The soil is practically sand. Just no nutrients left in it and very little ability to retain water.
People used to ask us why our soil in our old place was lovely rich nearly-black soil. The answer was that we didn't take our leaves up till mid April, after most insects didn't need them for hatching and hiding anymore, and they've broken down a fair amount of their nutrients into the soil. Then we'd mow up as much as possible and leave the chopped up leaves all over the lawn, to further break down and return the nutrients to the ground.
I've been looking for a rotatable compost bin for the new place, even though we're all small enough that rotating them can be sort of a pain in the ass.
But I'll confess that an ad-algorithm got me. I go on YouTube for 3 minutes, because my usual music streaming service was down and I do enjoy the "17th century villain" playlists on there, and I got an ad for an electric countertop composter.
This is not some kind of supported product placement on my part. The Lomi, which is the thing I saw an ad for, is a good $500 bought new, and I just flat out wasn't gonna do that.
But, I was curious enough to read some reviews, and then check craisglist. Lo and Behold, I found one for cheap, for sale from someone who bought and liked one, but also has an honest to god farm, and decided to go back to larger scale outdoor composting.
So, now we have a Lomi countertop composter.
You take the food waste from the day (our kiddo, Starling, eats a staggering amount of fruit, and a lot of eggs, so there's always shells, cores and peels and stuff laying around) and you put it in the bucket, and lock the lid, and push one button.
In two hours you have totally dry, totally broken down compost that smells almost like dry hay, ready to drop on the yard to put back in nutrients.
Tumblr media
I'm a bit in love with it.
And, on top of that, it can break down dairy and meat. You shouldn't ever put cooked meat in your outdoor compost, because birds will try to forage it, and get cooked fat grease on their feathers, which they can't clean off and can lead to illness. They're not evolved to handle cooked meat. But this way the meat is all broken down and safe to put outside. Which means throwing less away, which is great.
I will say, we didn't put in the charcoal the first time, and it had the used up charcoal from the previous owner in there and THAT was a mistake. Made the whole house smell like sweet vinegar. Which could be worse, considering this is food rotting down, but it was terrible when it's too cold to even open a window.
You can get Lomi brand charcoal filters, but it's just little charcoal pellets, so I'll probably just buy some from the aquarium store when we run out. But this batch should last us several months.
The thing also came with Lomi "tablets". So far, we've used them. But I'm going to experiment with not using them at some point, since the webpage for the Lomi says you don't NEED them. They do genuinely add helpful bacteria and fungi to the soil, which is great, but I can buy soil improvers that can do that, much more economically, from my local urban farm supply in the spring. No branded little pellets required. Plus, with the lawn being under snow, and the processed compost having to go on top of the snow, I'm not sure how much of that bacteria would be surviving right now, anyways.

Rockland. Rockland. Rockland... The soldier repeated the name in her mind like a mantra, clinging to it, terrified that it might slip through her fingers again. Mike, an old coworker from Shield, had shown up on her mission, and had reminded her of who she was. He'd told her about her son, her baby, and for the first time in over a decade, she'd run. Hydra hadn't let her go without a fight, of course. The upper right section of her shirt was sliced through, red seeping through the fabric, left hand wrapped in a makeshift bandage made from a lower section of said shirt. She'd darted into the forest as soon as she'd come across it. The woods had always felt familiar on missions, as though they offered whispered comforts. Maybe it was simply because nature was rich in the tools to survive. She couldn't be sure.
She kept moving. At least until, in the middle of the night, it was as though her body had taken up a rebellion against her. The withdrawals got to the point she'd wondered whether Hydra had implanted some sort of fail safe, especially after she'd fallen unconscious and woken up with a throbbing headache, even more disoriented. She'd laid on the ground for a while, staring up at the sky with limbs like lead. You have to keep going. They can't find you. Come on. Move.
Groaning, she rolled over, and pushed herself up. Food. She had to eat if she wanted to regain her strength. There was a break in the forest up ahead. Walking akin to a newborn deer, a bizarre look on the normally sturdy super soldier, she made her way towards the clearing. She’d search for signs of civilization; a gas station, or corner store, something unlikely to have security cameras. The trees made for a welcome support. A hunt for nutrients gave her something to focus on apart from her pounding head, or searing wounds, or the guilt and confusion that kept clawing to the surface.
A couple steps further and she squinted in the sunlight, eyes needing a moment to adjust. The soldier looked out over the fields, and spotted a patch of tilled soil. A garden. That seemed her best bet for the time being. As she neared, her suspicions were confirmed. Vegetables. Yellow squash, and small, still green pumpkins, but not just that. Collapsing to her knees as she grew close enough, shaky hands plucked an orange pepper from the vine. She shoved almost the whole thing in her mouth, savouring the sweet, juicy crunch. It was only seconds before she’d plucked another one, and then dug up a carrot. She brushed most of the dirt off in the grass before snapping a chunk off between her teeth.
Her eyes drifted shut as she chewed. And then she heard it, the quiet shuffle of feet in grass. Immediately the soldier bit down on the bulky carrot, securing it between her jaws; if she had to flee, no way she was leaving it behind. Pressing her uninjured palm to the ground, her eyes flickered towards the potential threat-
A... child. A tiny child. He stood there, gawking at her. She stared back, frozen in place. His nose scrunched in confusion. A slightly older girl quickly stepped up beside him, pulling the boy back towards her.
“Daaaaad!”

In the bustling city of Meadowville, there lived a young man named Daniel. At 18 years old, he possessed a gentle spirit and an unwavering curiosity about the world. With his slender frame and a weight of 70 kilograms, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery that would lead him to a surprising transformation.
Daniel had always been a lover of good food and indulgent flavors. He found solace in savoring hearty meals, relishing the exquisite taste and the comforting feeling that came with each bite. As he grew older, his appetite expanded, and he began to explore a variety of cuisines, embracing the joy of culinary exploration.
With a passion for flavorful meals, Daniel's appetite led him to discover a world of gastronomic delights. He would often indulge in delicious homemade dishes, decadent desserts, and mouthwatering snacks. His love for food became a form of self-expression, as he found joy and fulfillment in the exploration of flavors and textures.
As Daniel embraced his desires, his body responded with gradual changes. His once-slender figure began to fill out, his limbs growing fuller and more robust. His shoulders broadened, and his chest developed a newfound presence, embodying a sense of strength and nourishment. With each passing day, he found himself inching closer to his desired transformation.
Daniel's journey was not solely about the numbers on a scale; it was about embracing his own sense of pleasure and finding confidence in his evolving form. He reveled in the sensations that accompanied his growing body, cherishing the way his clothes hugged his expanding curves, celebrating the newfound softness that adorned his once-slender frame.
The journey to 150 kilograms became a testament to Daniel's self-acceptance and the exploration of his desires. As he reached this milestone, he found a renewed sense of confidence and contentment. He recognized that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and his own transformation reflected his journey of self-discovery and fulfillment.
Throughout his experience, Daniel discovered a community of like-minded individuals who shared his passion for body positivity and self-acceptance. Together, they celebrated their unique paths, offering support, encouragement, and a safe space for each other to embrace their bodies and derive pleasure from their own personal journeys.
In Meadowville, Daniel's story inspired others to question societal beauty standards and embrace their own sense of self. His journey served as a reminder that one's happiness and fulfillment should not be dictated by numbers on a scale but rather by the love and acceptance they cultivate within themselves.
And so, as Daniel walked the streets of his vibrant city, he exuded a radiance that transcended mere physical appearance. He carried with him the wisdom of self-discovery, the joy of indulgence, and the confidence that comes from accepting oneself wholly and unapologetically.
As Daniel continued to indulge in his culinary explorations, the connection between his eating and the transformation of his body grew more evident. The pleasure he derived from savoring each delectable bite seemed to fuel his physical changes, deepening his connection to the nourishing power of food.
With every mouthful of flavorful food, Daniel could almost feel the energy infusing his body, nourishing him from within. The decadent meals he savored became the building blocks of his physical transformation, the fuel that propelled his body on its journey of expansion.
The rich, calorie-dense meals he enjoyed played a pivotal role in his body's growth. The fast food, gainer shakes, and indulgent desserts provided him with the necessary nutrients and energy to support his changing physique. As he consumed each sumptuous morsel, he imagined his body eagerly absorbing the sustenance, using it to fuel his growth.
The softness that enveloped his belly became intimately connected to his eating rituals. With every indulgent meal, he could almost feel his stomach stretching, accommodating the abundance of food he consumed. He delighted in the way his belly expanded, becoming a testament to his commitment to pleasure and his willingness to embrace the physical changes it brought.
As Daniel's belly grew softer and rounder, he reveled in the sensation of fullness and satisfaction that accompanied each meal. The feeling of being pleasantly stuffed became a source of joy and contentment, a tangible reminder of the pleasure he derived from nourishing his body.
His expanding belly and softness became a physical manifestation of his indulgent lifestyle. He embraced the jiggling and swaying of his soft midsection as a testament to his willingness to fully immerse himself in the pleasures of food. The connection between his growing body and his eating habits became a symbiotic dance, each feeding into the other.
With each bite, Daniel felt a sense of liberation and empowerment. The act of eating became an act of self-love and self-care, a celebration of his desires and a rejection of societal norms. His body's transformation was a testament to his agency and his choice to honor his own unique journey.
The connection between his eating and his body became a tapestry of pleasure and growth. It was a reminder that the human experience is a holistic one, where nourishment, physicality, and pleasure intertwine. Through his indulgent eating rituals, Daniel discovered not only the joy of flavors but also a deeper connection to his own body and its inherent beauty.
As Daniel's body continued to expand and his softness became more pronounced, he embraced his newfound size with pride and sensuality. He reveled in the way his body responded to his desires, the way his flesh yielded under his touch, and the way his expanded curves became a source of pleasure for both himself and those who appreciated his unique form.
His journey of self-discovery and physical transformation became a powerful example to others, challenging societal expectations and inviting a celebration of diverse bodies. Daniel's story served as a reminder that the pursuit of pleasure, self-acceptance, and fulfillment can manifest in myriad ways, and that embracing one's own desires and unique form is a beautiful expression of authenticity and personal empowerment.
As Daniel's journey of self-discovery and indulgence progressed, he found himself drawn to the idea of allowing someone else to actively participate in his culinary experiences. He yearned for a connection that went beyond the act of eating alone, desiring to share his pleasure with a trusted companion.
Enter Sarah, a close friend who understood and embraced Daniel's journey of self-acceptance. With an open heart and a gentle touch, she offered to be the one to feed him, to become a willing participant in his quest for pleasure and expansion.
With a sense of anticipation and trust, Daniel allowed Sarah to take on the role of his feeder. As he reclined on a comfortable couch, Sarah sat beside him, a spread of delectable dishes before them. She dipped a spoon into a bowl of creamy macaroni and cheese, then lifted it to his lips, guiding him to take each mouthful.
The act of being fed by Sarah deepened the connection between them. Daniel closed his eyes, surrendering to the sensations that enveloped him. As the food passed through his lips, he could feel the warmth and care behind each spoonful. It was an intimate exchange, a delicate dance between nourishment and desire.
With every bite, Daniel's body responded in a symphony of sensations. The flavors exploded on his tongue, eliciting moans of delight that escaped his lips. He could feel the food traveling down his throat, filling his belly with a comforting weight. The gentle pressure of Sarah's hand against his cheek and the sound of her encouraging words added an extra layer of intimacy to the experience.
As Sarah fed him, Daniel's body seemed to come alive, attuned to the pleasure and nourishment being bestowed upon him. He could feel his belly expanding with each indulgent mouthful, the softness of his midsection yielding to accommodate the growing fullness. The subtle jiggles and sways became more pronounced, a sensual dance that mirrored his pleasure.
His heightened awareness of his body's response only fueled his desire for more. The pleasure he derived from the act of eating was intertwined with the sensuality of being fed by another. It was an intoxicating blend of physical gratification and emotional connection that deepened his bond with Sarah and allowed him to revel in the pleasure of his expanding form.
As Daniel's body absorbed the nourishment, he could feel the energy coursing through him, invigorating his senses and fueling his growth. The softness of his belly became more pronounced, its roundness a testament to his indulgence and the trust he had placed in Sarah. With each passing day, he felt his body respond to the abundant nourishment, growing more supple and yielding to his desires.
The act of being fed by Sarah became a sacred ritual, a celebration of their bond and a conduit for pleasure. Together, they embraced the journey of self-acceptance and explored the depths of their desires. Their connection went beyond the physical; it was a shared experience that nourished not only Daniel's body but also his soul.
In this exchange, Daniel discovered a profound sense of vulnerability and liberation. He realized that pleasure could be found not just in the act of eating but also in the intimate connection with another person. The merging of desire, trust, and indulgence became a transformative experience that deepened his understanding of self and expanded his capacity for joy.
As his body continued to respond to the nourishment and the attentions of his feeder, Daniel felt a newfound sense of pride and empowerment. He embraced his growing form, his expanding softness, and the pleasure he derived from it all. It was a testament to his own desires, his willingness to embrace his unique journey, and the beauty that resides within every body, regardless of societal norms.
As Sarah fed him, Daniel became acutely aware of the sensations that engulfed his body. The warmth of the food, rich with flavors, enveloped his taste buds, igniting a symphony of pleasure. With each bite, he could feel the nourishment spreading from his mouth, cascading down his throat, and settling in his belly, expanding it further and further.
The comforting fullness that washed over him was undeniable. The weight of the food settled deep within him, causing his belly to swell and protrude, stretching the fabric of his clothes to accommodate his growing girth. He reveled in the sensation of his expanding circumference, embracing the tangible evidence of his indulgence.
As Sarah's hand caressed his skin, a delightful contrast played out. The touch of her fingers against his body mingled with the softness of his own flesh, creating a tactile symphony that sent shivers of pleasure down his spine. The friction between her hand and his expanding curves added an extra layer of sensuality to the experience, further intensifying the pleasure he derived from his burgeoning form.
Daniel's fat, like a soft and yielding canvas, responded to the touch, yielding under the pressure of Sarah's hand. He marveled at how his flesh, once firm and taut, had transformed into pliant mounds of softness. The way his fat intermingled with her touch sent waves of pleasure radiating throughout his body, reinforcing his connection to his own physicality and the pleasures it could bestow.
With each feeding session, the mingling of sensations became more pronounced. The warmth of the food, the fullness of his belly, and the touch of Sarah's hand melded together, creating a sensory tapestry that Daniel embraced with fervor. His body became a canvas for pleasure, a testament to his desires and his willingness to explore the depths of his own indulgence.
As Daniel's body continued to expand and his fat accumulated in new places, he discovered an insatiable hunger for the sensations that came with his growing size. The sensations of warmth, fullness, and touch became intertwined, heightening his pleasure and deepening his connection to his own physicality.
In this symbiotic dance of indulgence and sensation, Daniel found solace and fulfillment. The visceral pleasure he experienced became a testament to the beauty of his body, free from judgment or constraints. He reveled in the way his expanding form responded to his desires, delighting in the softness, the weight, and the sheer delight of his own physical transformation.
With each feeding session, Daniel discovered a profound sense of liberation. The pleasure he derived from the sensations that coursed through his body was a celebration of his desires and a rejection of societal norms. It was a rebellion against the narrow definitions of beauty, a bold affirmation of his own unique journey towards self-acceptance and unabashed pleasure.
As Daniel continued his journey towards 200kg, he carried within him the knowledge that his body was a vessel of indulgence, a source of boundless pleasure. He reveled in the exquisite sensations that his expanding form bestowed upon him, relishing in the fulfillment that came with embracing his own desires and finding joy in the curves, softness, and unapologetic beauty of his body.
