is Rock/Romeo different in the japanese ds cute?

(as someone who isn’t fluent) yea in jp romeo sounds like less of a bastard and more like idk. idiot airhead spacey naive kid? the jp version also takes him much more seriously as a love interest option which stresses me out a bit but it’s also cute

for the english version of DS and cute natsume sometimes added some arrogant douchey scum bastard zaniness to romeo’s lines to idk i guess try and match rock? (who has different speech habits / “role speech” in JP compared to romeo) and of course natsume also just handled a lot of DS lines Weirdly or Not at all

for example

the wedding vow

JP:「もう一生離さないよ♡ 」| “For the rest of my life, I’ll never let go!♡” (cute)

Natume EN: “I’ll never leave you. Heh heh.” (troubling)

the divorce fakeout event you get if you neglect your husband (the entire thing)

JP: romeo thinks you hate him and he’s sad because you don’t communicate, and says goodbye.. he comes back and apologizes and admits he never wanted to leave, he just wants to stay together and you head to sleep (all’s well that ends well)

EN: romeock thinks you hate him and he says “is it my looks? my gorgeous looks can’t be fading already, can they?!” when he comes back he’s like “i know you can’t be tired of my looks already. it must just be a phase. well time for some beauty sleep” (who the fuck said you were allowed back in)

other than stuff like that, in general i’m finding a lot of events make slightly to very more sense in japanese because often it feels like each line of dialogue was either translated too literally into english or they didn’t have context, so that also applies to romeo’s heart and random events especially later events / events after marriage / rival marriage

the entire yellow heart event didn’t make proper sense to me in english compared to japanese but one small silly example from it where (probably) no context translation made the scene 10x funnier is when he has his dramatic confession

in JP he realizes he may have hurt you by joking around and making up stories to hide his feelings and apologizes profusely. protag shakes her head no with a heart over it to be like “it’s okay <3”

in EN he asks “Can you forgive me…?” and protag does the same gesture. like “NO <3”

also neither here nor there but his relationship with Louis feels a lot more familial in japanese. in english i wanted to kick him out the window during the child discipline event. in JP it’s more silly… (i still want to kick him out the window but more affectionately…) she overall sounds a lot more idk timid in EN but in JP she’s rougher and teases and scolds him a bunch (good👍). she and her two NEET cats children are a very cute family imo

overall i find natume’s odd additions to the game incredibly funny and enhance the experience in their own way (by making it worse) and i enjoy the more bastardly creature but i also think the more serious and soft romeo is sweet. he still has a lot of “what is wrong with his brain” moments in both en and jp he’s just more douchey in english

Sky Kid anatomy post!!!!

Originally I wasn’t gonna post anything until I was able to draw every single anatomy headcanon I have for these weirdos but that’s gonna take a while! So I’ll just add to the post overtime

I see a lot of people interpret sky kids to be made of a solid stone-like material, and I figured I’d take that a step further and have sky kids be built like ball-jointed dolls!

Sky Kid Anatomy

Hollow inside, only have light and wax in them, as well as a core that contains their winged light and a hearth. They don’t have any organs

Jointed like dolls

No genitalia, sky kids are born from stars and have no way of reproducing amongst themselves. Biological parents do not exist amongst them, though siblings can exist if two kids are born from the same star. Gender/Sex is not a concept that sky kids have nor understand

They usually have 4 fingers and 3 toes

Sky kids can have tails sometimes! It isn’t a common trait however

They can also have horns! They are more common than tails and are usually a sign of darkness infection, though some sky kids are just born with horns

In addition to note 5, while yes biological siblings can exist in the world of sky, they don’t view those relationships as any more or less significant than non-biological because sky kids have a culture of forming familial groups amongst each other. Even sky kids who prefer to keep to themselves do not consider children born of the same light to be any more or less important than an older light taking a moth under their wing.

I'm not usually a big sharer of things I make from my own hand but being shlorped back into stardew makes me want to share something so... here's some old hero forge miniatures I made back when I first started playing stardew. most have been altered but these are just some of my fav ones. plus a bonus wip of barcus from bg3

I've actually made minis of very single character (except the island trader and lupini I can't get them looking anything close to distinguishable) but again these are just some of my favs. I love manipulating the poses sm mostly so I can have them on hand for art I make (which I might share at some point... maybe) and the facial expressions are definitely not the best since the tools have gotten a lot better but here u go

from left to right too to bottom they are gil, gunther, harvey, the traveling merchant, professor snail, sandy, and willy (he has a harpoon because fishing rods weren't even assets yet)

at one point i started making a tiny functional yellow guy finger puppet. i greatly underestimated how difficult this project would be, especially considering i committed to sewing most of it by hand despite having almost 0 sewing experience and not even having correctly colored fabric (i had to paint him with acrylic). unfortunately, i lost interest before finishing and he sat there unfinished for awhile.

at some point i just kinda half-hazardly slapped on the half finished hair just so i could consider him finished even if i'm not at all satisfied with the end product. just now i put a squishmallow hat on him which i think does a decent job of covering up how messy the hair looks. anyway here's some pics (angled to cover up the messy bits as best as possible) just so i can call this project done and not feel like all that effort went to waste lol
