#only missing the badass assassin part

Got another idea. XD Sorry! 💜
Do you know about Yuri on Ice? I loved the animation of the ice skating in the show and just imagine Desmond doing those graceful jumps is making me swoon like a maiden. XD
Could do a light AU where Desmond is scouted by a proffesional because he is so nimble shortly after running away from the farm or a full blown AU with Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton as professional ice skaters.
The light AU would be a bit difficult to pull off unless we make the trainer ex criminal or something, so that Abstergo couldn't try to grab Desmond immidiently when he starts competing. The trainer would assure him that whatever threat is out there he would protect him and it works until 2012. Abstergo probably got desperate enough to kidnapp Desmond, damn the publicity of a famous athlete going missing. The image of Desmond wielding the ice skates as knives is also both funny and badass. XD
Full blown AU could have Bill getting injured early on in his career and pushing(abusing) Desmond into becoming the star Bill was meant to be. Because athletes in general retire around their 30s, we can muck about with the ages so that Al Mualim, Haytham and Bill where skating around the same time and after Bill was forced to retire early, he decided to date and have a kid with another famous skater in the hopes that Desmond would be a prodigy(he is, but that is not enough for Bill).
Al Mualim, when he lost his eye in a duel skating rutine gone horrificly wrong(imagine a few years after Bill), decided to take on his old friend Umar's son as his personal trainee to live vicariously through.
Haytham is the only one of the 3 who retires of his own free will. He could discover that an intense, but short relationship he had with the skater Ziio resulted in a child and she saw how fiercly competetive and single minded Haytham was about the sport, so she decided to not tell Haytham about Ratonhnhaké:ton or more commonly known as Connor. Once Haytham discovers he has a son after Ziio dies(i imagine disease), he takes him in and tries to bond with him, to mixed results. Connor decides to follow in both his parents footsteps, to honor his mother and because it seems to be the best way to bond with his father. I imagine some light angst about Haytham pushing Connor because that was how he was raised after his father died early on, but eventually Haytham learns to just be proud of his son. 🥰
Ezio is the fan favorite with his devilish charms and outrages antics with his older brother, gossip magazines love them because Ezio loves to tease and indulge the photographers in exchange for most of them leaving his family alone. The Auditores are not an ice skating family, Ezio is just really talented and does it for the love of the sport, so he is pretty chill about competing. He is feared for his jumps though. VERY feared. XD
This could be Altdes or Ezides(because i'm traaaash! XD) where Desmond growing closer to the love interest lets him discover what true love and family is meant to be. Tbh think Ezio is the most fitting if we do that route, because let's face it: out if every goddamned assassin i know of, he is the only one with a good family/upbringing until the hanging. Fucking Disney mom syndrom over here. XD
Btw, i have no idea about ice skating and it's been years since i watched Yuri on Ice, so i am sorry if any details here is wildy inaccurate or impossible. ^^ And sorry for the text wall, got carried away. Again. XD Love ya! 💜
I love Yuri on Ice and I’m still waiting for that movie lol.
If you don’t want to choose between AltDes and EziDes, go with both? XD
But in all seriousness, EziDes would be more on the side of fluff and Desmond slowly becoming part of the Auditore family and learning what it means to have an actual loving family. Ezio would be the kind of person who would show Desmond the world beyond the small confines of being William Miles’ successor and he’ll learn to be interested in other things.
AltDes, though, considering the setup we have here, would focus heavily on the distorted mirror image they both share. Altaïr would be the son William Miles wanted to raise in Desmond’s eyes and Desmond would be the type of person he would have become had he not rose to all of Al Mualim’s expectation in Altaïr’s eyes. This is less of a found family kind of thing but more on the side of “I am jealous of you but I also can’t help but worry about you” kind of thing because they both have an idea of the loneliness and suffering they are hiding.
So yeah, it really depends on what kind of story you want to go for. Fluff for EziDes, angst for AltDes XD
Also… maybe in some ways, EziDes is about Ezio saving Desmond while AltDes is about the two of them saving each other.
Regardless of which path we take, Ezio’s relationship with Desmond would be about ‘learning of the outside world’ kind of deal and having an actual healthy support system who cares and love him. Desmond’s relationship with Altaïr would be more on the side of finding someone so similar to one’s self that caring and loving them (either platonically or romantically) is a way for one to care and love themselves.
Ratonhnhaké:ton, on the other hand, is that kind friend who serves as Desmond’s own foil thanks to his relationship with his own father. But, unlike Altaïr, their friendship is less burdened because Ratonhnhaké:ton actually knows what he wants and Haytham is trying. Their father-son relationship is actually what makes Desmond realize that, shit, his own relationship with his father is fucked up.
Ezio told him that too but Desmond can’t really wrap his head around it because Giovanni act really different from Bill that he can’t really compare them but Haytham? Haytham definitely acts a lot like Bill. And then he meets Al Mualim who acts a lot like Bill as well (it’s the other way around, Bill is trying to copy Al Mualim since he was more successful than Bill). So yeah, Haytham shows Desmond (and Altaïr) that a father can fuck up but make up for it as well.
Also, regardless of the pairing, the four of them would have a close bond with one another with the not-love interest and Ratonhnhaké:ton having front row seat to whatever shenanigans are happening between Desmond and his love interest.
(Sidebar: Kadar is absolutely Altaïr’s Number One Fan. Malik is absolutely embarrassed because he’s actually competing in the same competition and everyone who knows Kadar is his brother pities him because his own brother is cheering a different contestant. Kadar also skates and he can actually copy Altaïr’s performances. Ask him to perform his own and he blanks out though)
Love you too💜 and never apologize for text walls. I love reading them hahahaha

thoughts on verin getting to know the mighty nein:
fjord: voted most likely to be verin's crush. each of them thinks the other is way cooler than them and sometimes it just makes them really awkward around each other but once they get comfortable they're just very loud about Look At My Badass Friend. they fall into the habit of shooting each other "can you believe this" looks when the others start making ridiculous plans, as if they don't also love the chaos. verin is committed to being fjord's personal hype man, and he takes his job very seriously.
beau: at first, beau mostly just thinks verin is kind of annoying (though funny to watch when he annoys the shit out of essek), but he turns out to be a good workout buddy and is more than willing to get wrapped up in her and fjord's shenanigans. the first time they really hit it off is when beau is connecting the dots on her latest mystery of choice and verin jumps in to start bouncing off of her ideas, and everyone else just watches in awe as they frantically unravel it together.
caleb: verin is not immune to the urge to manhandle the resident scrawny wizard, and is even less so after finding out he's the one essek is in love with. he plays the part of the "if you ever hurt him i will make you pay" brother for a while (mostly because he thinks it's funny and it annoys essek) but ultimately, he becomes like a brother to caleb too. also, he's obsessed with any and every cat that caleb brings his way. bring him a particularly small cat and he will shed a tear.
veth: verin thinks veth is hilarious, but he's also a bit terrified of her (which absolutely goes to her head). he does, however, prove to be fantastic with luc, and the presents he brings for luc start being accompanied by particularly nice trinkets he thought she would like. sometimes veth teases fjord talking about how strong verin is, which immediately makes verin blush every time.
jester: these two together are literal sunshine. they bring out each other's excitement and absolutely light up a room once they set each other off. if you see them whispering to each other, expect the unexpected, because they might be planning the prank of the century but they also might just be planning on surprising everyone with baked goods. (sometimes both. usually both.) essek fears seeing them in a room together because it exponentially increases his chances of getting hug-attacked.
kingsley: kingsley flirts with verin constantly and verin is adorably confused by it, which only makes it more appealing for kingsley. verin thinks it's really cool that kingsley is an actual pirate, and kingsley absolutely eats up the attention and awe. they sometimes gossip together, and kingsley manages to bring out a catty side of verin that essek didn't even know existed.
caduceus: while verin was the odd one out among his generally serious family, he fits right in with the chaos of the clay family. he easily falls back into the role of "lovingly shitty little brother," so much so that caduceus' own annoying brother side tends to come out while they're together. unsurprisingly, caduceus is also the only one able to get verin to talk about all the things he tries to pretend aren't weighing him down.
yasha: beefy blonde besties, classic introvert-extravert pair, and mlm/wlw solidarity at its finest. it's not uncommon to find the two of them staying up late talking about anything that comes to mind. verin is no less convinced of yasha's ability to send magical messages than yasha herself is. when her wings are out, he begs her relentlessly for a ride until she gives in. he has a certain brightness to his personality that yasha didn't want to admit she missed when molly became kingsley.
bonus:
astrid: verin is, respectfully, absolutely terrified of astrid. not just because she used to be an assassin for the other side of the war he was trained to fight – he gets over that part quickly enough, he just thinks she specifically is intimidating, and she regularly leans into it just to amuse herself. eventually, he works up the confidence to start trying to retaliate and fuck with her; he's not often successful, but it's a fun game and they're both irrationally competitive about it.
eadwulf: tied for most likely to be verin's crush. verin also thinks he's intimidating, but more in the "if you put a knife to my throat i might just have to make out with you" way than in the "if you put a knife to my throat i would say my goodbyes and accept my fate" way. eadwulf is particularly hard to get a real laugh out of, but verin gets good enough at it over time that even caleb is impressed. very rarely, verin even manages to get a snort-laugh out of him, which caleb never lets him live down.

Not me about to go off on another tangent about Yeong's character but what I truly love is that even though she's clearly softer and not as rough around the edges now that she has no memories of being an assassin, she is still fierce as hell. That part of her hasn't changed at all.
Again, she only has memories of being sheltered, and still baby girl does not hesitate to fling herself into danger, and with all the confidence in the world, too. I already screamed about how her first instinct was to point a fire poker at Uk and how she faced off against that water monster, but her interaction with So-yi????? Absolutely screams Naksu. And the way she jumped under the water to avoid inhaling that smoke shows us that she's quick-witted and knows how to act under pressure. And then that speech she gave Kim Do-joo about being willing to endure pain while her own mother was literally torturing her??? The sheer will and inner strength that demonstrates???
I know people are saying they miss the previous badass Naksu, and I miss her too, but Yeong is literally still a badass. It's just that it might be harder to notice because it's no longer accompanied by the cold-blooded nature she was forced to adopt as Naksu. She's still the baddest bitch around, just in a different context.
And I think it's important to point out that despite her sunny disposition as Bu-yeon, she's not that innocent nor is she a damsel in distress. It bothers me that some people are giving Uk all the credit for saving her from her mother. Like yes, Uk played an important and necessary role, but Yeong herself was the one who set all those events into motion. Uk was perfectly happy to leave her to rot in her prison at the start. The only reason he helped her was because she deceived him and played him like a fiddle. She saw the ice stone in him, and used that knowledge to her advantage. Yeong hatched her own escape plan, she was the one who proposed marriage to him, and she was the one who planted the idea to take her away from her wedding into his head. Yeong schemed to achieve the outcome she wanted, just like Mu-deok would have. At the end of the day, she saved herself.
Yes, she's kinder and brighter and more open and less serious, but she's still brave and reckless and cunning and quick and resourceful and manipulative. And every bit as chaotic as she was as Mu-deok. While the changes in her character are significant and do to some extent contrast her personality in part one, they are also entirely believable. She literally only has three years worth of memories, knowledge, and experience. And most of them take place in the same room since she was confined. Of course she would be more childlike and pure under those circumstances. Her amnesia means that she doesn't have the life experience other characters have. She also doesn't know that she has blood on her hands.
And either way, some of the brightness she has now is definitely going to dim once she regains all of her memories. While I'm looking forward to seeing more of her previous cold-bloodedness resurface once she does, both because it was refreshing and because it would be unrealistic for 20 years of assassin conditioning to disappear, it's also validating to see this more childlike side of her because she literally never got to have a childhood.
I think the Hong sisters did a good job of making her character believably different while also keeping meaningful similarities to her personality in part one. I think the same can be said about Uk, too. Both of them have changed in ways that are believable, and even more amazingly, in ways that complement each other. I also really love the contrast of Yeong being a ray of sunshine, but still having these moments of cold calculation.
That being said, I also do miss her more ruthless side. I still need Yeong to get all her memories back and Uk to recognize the love of his life immediately, because the amnesia arc is hurting me. I want to shake Uk and tell him that the woman he's been mourning is right in front of him 😭😭😭😭

Film Friday: Bullet Train
I've been missing a few Film Fridays lately, partially because mental health has just kinda been like that and partially because I've been struggling with a slightly more meaty analysis that my brain just won't let me figure out properly. As such, I'm going to get into the swing of things again with a movie that is pretty stupid, and I say that with all possible love and admiration.
Tumblr media
Ladybug isn't really comfortable with the title of hitman anymore, he's trying out a more harmonic life, but even so he does find it in himself to undertake what should by all accounts be a simple last-minute job. Board the eponymous train, grab a suitcase, and get off at the next station. Oh, were it only so easy. Turns out said bullet train is flush with kooky assassins and hitmen who are either out for the suitcase, the lives of one or more of each other, or have larger and more ominous designs.
Tumblr media
There's Ladybug, of course, the quirky pair of British wetworks men Lemon and Tangerine out to escort a drugged-out VIP and a suitcase full of money, notorious and sneaky The Hornet who's skulking about somewhere, the megalomaniacal but brilliant Prince playing a larger game with the life of desperate father Kimura's child as ante, as well as the hot-headed Wolf who is out for vengeance and a paycheck, but mostly the vengeance thing. It's quite the web of coincidences, interferences, and merry chaos as these murderers navigate the crowded train.
Tumblr media
It's chaotic, but one throughline that honestly makes the constant shifting priorities and allegiances of Ladybug and the other hitmen work is that it's all a job to them, a very messy job that may or may not be arranged by a Russian usurper of the Yakuza crime syndicate known as White Death, but still a job. Whenever it's expedient for our heroes and antiheroes to not kill each other, they'll show professional courtesy to each other, bantering in that "a little bit too cool" stylized way that's second nature to Hollywood assassins.
Tumblr media
What sets the banter apart, though, is a distinct sense of humor. Lemon, much to Tangerine's annoyance, has a theory of human personalities and moral character based on Thomas The Tank Engine. Ladybug has luck that fluctuates wildly between being impossibly good and impossibly bad, and he has a problem with remembering faces which makes some of the networking with his fellow killers challenging. Wolf's role in the movie is short in a way that feels darkly comedic yet apt, and I was surprised to learn this was, in fact, a cameo from musician Bad Bunny (listen, I'm old, ok?)
Tumblr media
It's all breezy fun. The movie takes itself about as seriously as any movie that features a Japanese-language cover of "Holding Out For A Hero" in a moment of high drama, but that's fine, the movie expects you to chuckle along, knowing full well it has your heart in a vise by the third cover of "I'm forever blowing bubbles." Not a joke by the way, the few moments that Bullet Train allows itself to express emotion more complex than "holy shit" and/or laughter, it's acted well enough and with enough genuine skill that it actually gets to me a fair bit.
Tumblr media
It'd be an act of overstatement to call Bullet Train all that deep, but it adds up to more than the sum of its parts. It ends up saying some fun things about fate. I wouldn't exactly cite it in a philosophy paper or anything of the sort, it is fun to sit at the end of the "Michael Shannon plays Russian roulette in an oni mask to look badass" movie and go "You're right movie, maybe human misery DOES come from the hubris of believing ourselves to be masters over fate." I don't know, it's just nice for a crowd-pleasing action movie to go out on a note of what seems like a genuinely held belief and not "welp that happened" glibness. It reminds me a bit of Mr. and Mrs. Smith like that, a movie I'll probably end up talking about here one of these days.

Did I mention how Season 2 of Reacher wrapped up and how it impacted me? I might have, but the search function is broken so- This was a heart breaking season. I have no idea how they are going to do a third because they simply killed off too many people from Reacher's life. Spoilers for season 2 of Reacher ahead.
It was all just heartbreak from the get go. I watched this season with someone and they theorised that Swan could be a traitor like O'D thought, or clean but a prisoner like Reacher thought, or like THEY thought, an eye and a finger in a formaldehyde jar. I thought they were right but I was hoping the writing would not go in that direction. I felt sorry for how easily those badass people from Reacher's found family were captured, tortured and executed. For what? For some money? And it wasn't even that much. I could burn 65 milli in a weekend in Paris. Langston was such a despicable villain and his death was so unsatisfying. Too short and too painless. He deserved to have suffered more for what he did. I enjoyed A.M.'s death. How this dude who was built up like this super effective assassin who could kill his way out of any situation was just executed by Reacher and the gang - and not even his eloquence and posh asshole accent could even stall his end. My favourite part was when Neaghley got to use the rocket launcher and when the congressman's people were caught by the other, actually clean good guys. When the team let the pilot and the programmer escape in the helicopter, I exchanged a look with my co-watcher and we were like: yeah they're gonna test Little Wing. This series got to me in a WAY. I absolutely loved Neaghley as a character, and I loved the space Reacher makes for her and the quiet acceptance between them. It's just... I miss this kind of entertainment. There's too little of the good shit out there, Western stuff is tired and doesn't bother anymore, and the BL stuff requires so much suspension of disbelief on my part that it throws me out again. So most of the year I'm here twiddling my thumbs and not having anything juicy to enjoy. And it beats me why the makers of Reacher the series looked at Lee Child's work and were like, yeah we're taking the first book and the second to last... makes no sense when you have 9 other books you could milk for story and ultimately, money. I recommend Reacher wholeheartedly. Its only flaw is that there are too few episodes (on Amazon Prime video).

It's time for this month's first Friday fic night!
For a refresher you can find out what this is here.
Last month we looked at Attack on Titan.
According to the poll we are going back to Teen Wolf. Poll for next month's fandom at the bottom.
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Ship: Sterek
Last time we looked at Teen Wolf we were at 40k words or less with a focus on healing and recovering from Trauma.
This month: BAMF Stiles
with bloody feet across hallowed ground, by owlpostagain
"There were no last words. No more pleas, no more screaming. Just the sound of Stiles squeezing the trigger, the explosion of a second shot rocketing out of the revolver, and the hunters bursting through the open doorway just in time to see the bullet slam squarely into the center of Derek’s chest."
In The Afterimage, by clotpolesonly
"Jackson sat heavily on the riser beside Scott, knocking their shoulders together. “This is weird and I hate it.”
"What's weird and why?"
“This whole situation,” Jackson said. “With the Ghostriders and the missing dude you’re so obsessed with.”
“And why do you hate that?”
“Because now I can’t stop thinking about it!” Jackson bit out, and he really did sound supremely irritated by that. “I keep thinking that if even Danny’s forgetting shit because of this guy, then I must be forgetting shit too, and that is so not cool. So now I’m running over everything that’s ever happened in my entire freaking life looking for moments when the Ghostriders could’ve fucked with my head.”
Scott had to admit that Jackson had a point. He’d been doing the same thing ever since that first memory with obvious pieces missing. Honestly, it was hard for him to find a memory that did feel whole. Even sitting on the bench alone didn’t feel right."
I'm the ghost of my mistakes, by GreyHaven
"Stiles hasn't been known as Stiles for the past six years. He's Mitch Rapp, a CIA assassin with 117 kills under his belt. When he gets a late night call from Scott, saying Derek has been taken, he's on the road back to Beacon Hills in less than ten minutes. He's going to get Derek back, even if that means adding a few more kills to his ledger.
An American Assassin/Teen Wolf fusion. Rated E for violence which is canon typical for AA but might be considered extreme for TW. If you're familiar with the plot of AA, please be assured that no female or beloved TW characters have been fridged in the making of this fic and pairing."
i'm here in search of your glory, by EvanesDust and spaceprincessem
"And standing there, in the dim light of the office was the all powerful emissary whose name had been whispered across the country. The one who could move mountains and part oceans. The one they all called Void.
Standing there was Stiles fucking Stilinski.
There were so many things Derek wanted to say - needed to say - and Stiles arched an eyebrow, like he was waiting, like he fucking knew. Derek opened his mouth, but the only thing that came out was, “Are you fucking kidding me.”"
As a reminder, always check the tags!
I hope you enjoy. Let me know how much you love them on a scale of surprise badass to faulty memory.
I'm leaving off both Attack on Titan and Teen Wolf for next month, they'll be added back into the poll after that.

I finally finished the Modern Warfare 2 campaign so here are some ne thoughts I have of it:
The story was mostly interesting, it had nice turns, but also sometimes it was obvious they tried to be a little similar to the original MW2 like with certain level designs
The characterization felt a little downgrade from MW2019 honestly, I missed the kind of actual bonding and thoughts they had in the previous game like Farah and Alex, Price and Kyle.
At first Soap being kinda like a rookie felt odd but then his enthusiasm and how he's ready to throw hands 24/7 became really cute, I loved him in this game.
Tumblr media
Ghost on the other hand was like a brooding teen pretty much always, who sometimes managed to show out human feelings. I get that they can't make a guy obsessed with wearing skull masks a cheery person but still. Tho i guess this still counts as an upgrade from how he was in the original, with his personality and characterization being on the level of a bag of potatos in the OG mw2.
Alejandro pretty much carried all parts he was in, it was nice that besides being a grade A badass and cutie he still had his motivations and character be understood.

The villains were... Well CoD games are mostly not too good on villains anyways (it's been a decade since the OG trilogy i think we can finally admit that Makarov was as default as possible). Shepherd's betrayal was no surprise it was obvious they will make that move.
Graves' tho felt out of nowhere for me tbh, it just simply happened and i was like okay??? this happened i guess??
Valeria was being portrayed as someone taking shit from no one but honestly she was pretty much there only to throw in big words just like Shepherd.
Also I don't know who at IW wanted to make an Assassin's Creed/Splinter Cell game so hard that they decided to make half the campaign that, but sometimes the forced stealth felt more frustrating than interesting or rewarding.
Overall i'd say it wasn't a bad campaign but I gotta say i liked MW2019 more if I had to compare it to the other remake one. Felt like they tried hard to build on nostalgia that sometimes they didn't think it important to try tell a story or work on the characters themselves they build the nostalgia upon

(Part 1 if you missed it
The fight goes on and eventually all three come to a standstill where bedman writes off Robo Ky as nothing but a toy and says “hey if i kill you, venom will be basically nothing” this causes venom to go into do or die mode as the guy is not afraid of dying at all, willing to do anything for the mission even if it means sacrificing himself. After venom sets up a massive attack bedman’s inner monologue goes off and says “dude can you FUCK OFF im doing this to save everyone so i dont really care if you die.” and Robo Ky actually acknowledges this fact, even calling bedman a nice guy to which bedman promptly reveals that OOPS hes keeping the kids from the beginning as hostages to see who’s dream is stronger, his or the duo’s. Robo then turns to venom and goes “hey, cool off for a bit and watch this” and approaches the kids to protect them, even after what they did. The kids even question why he wanted to save them to which Robo Ky tells them to shut the hell up. Bedman then also questions this, asking why Robo Ky would want to protect the people of the town, which then leads into Robo Ky’s most defining moment. He essentially tells bedman that hes a fucking loser with no regard for life and that he should feel awful. Even after the townspeople treated Robo Ky like genuine garbage, he still would never harm them. He acknowledges the fact that yeah, he's PISSED at them for how they treated him but he also acknowledges the fact that without them he wouldn’t be able to keep himself running or wash his clothes or get him jobs, so even though he's angry, he would never hurt anyone, even the kids that bullied him at the beginning. As he states, if he can be useful to just one person, then that makes him a member of society, something Robo Ky longs for. He says that bedman must have been put in a world that disrespected him even more than himself for bedman to turn out like this but goes on to say that whatever goal bedman is trying to achieve, he's going about it in the completely wrong way. This causes bedman to get absolutely pissed and fires a spike through Robo Ky, to which Robo Ky ignores it and keeps dissing bedman, saying that bedman must not care AT ALL about this world if he's willing to endanger it just for his own dream. Robo Ky then takes another spike and keeps walking LIKE THE BADASS HE IS and even venom is like “bro, chill the hell out or you’re gonna die” AND THE CHAD JUST KEEPS GOING AND KEEPS TALKING SHIT TO BEDMANS FACE EXPLAING TO BEDMAN THAT “hey DIPSHIT everyone is gonna FUCKING DIE if you do this so maybe don't?” and to be fair, bedman actually does not know this but that's a completely different story. Robo Ky then tells bedman that because he's a sophisticated and talented AI, only one life needs to be sacrificed in order to save the world, his own, to which he delivers his most raw line yet (the clip was supposed to go here but this isnt a video anymore so uh) after that, venom finishes the job and passes out near Robo Ky from exhaustion and once Robo Ky reactivates, he picks venom up with his teeth and flies them back home…well, Robo Kys home which if you recall was nowhere as he was homeless.

thinking about an old modern!assassin!au aenari again. it was a fun mental exercise because at first it was "the twins would make amazing assassins" and then at some point a sniper tighnari snuck in but i realized there was no way tighnari would become an assassin unless he was torn to shreds, destroyed, and put back together so a very angsty plotline took away from my poor half-badass half-sitcom idea.
so the twins are assassins but it's important that aether actually met tighnari in a very mundane setting - a coffee shop tighnari recently decided to frequent. (i can't decide if i wanna keep it entirely mundane so it's just a cafe or is it actually secretly the twins' intelligence hub that tighnari finds and loves for being so quiet and uncrowded all the time because there is an appeal in the irony.)
the main conflict is the fact that aether takes lives for a living and the tighnari is very passionate about sanctity of life right, he is a ranger, a botanist, an activist, he is very adamant on the basic right of every living being to simply live. aether can get away with some suspicious things re: randomly disappearing and keeping secrets, because tighnari thinks he works for the government so there are things he cannot legally reveal to even closest family/spouse and tighnari respects that. still, tighnari feels something is off, and aether feels guilty because he actually does love his job, any moral qualm he might have is relieved behind the knowledge that he kills people he thinks deserves killing, he has a god complex right that (like i'm going to take a pair of celestial twins and turn them into mortals without giving them an actual god complex). tighnari would never understand or sympathize, so he can never know.
initially, aether wants to take attraction run its course, he likes this fox a lot but he considers himself a realist (he doesn't have the most accurate vision of himself), clearly they have an expiration date. but he keeps falling and falling until he is actually planning to ask tighnari to marry him and- well, it's been going so well for so long, getting married will basically only change how they refer to each other at this point, what the hell. he will go for it.
there are three genres this can go - one is action which is inherent and can be focused on easily as part of the plot, one is sitcom, and the other is as angsty as it goes until tighnari is realistically corroded enough to become an assassin. technically all can coexist, angst can come after comedy chronologically, but it would be a DRASTIC tone shift,
the sitcom route is basically aether living this double life, settling nicely into the mundane while juggling his duties as an assassin of an organization. someone is refusing to give tighnari a grant, so aether is uwu so sweetly supportive i'm sure you'll find a way!! she's a dick anyway let's go talk to this other person!! and he turns around and gives her a glare that implies he is considering actually killing her, and she swallows by the sheer threatening aura.
the angst route is having tighnari find out. preferably just before aether's planned proposal for more drama. he has no proof to hand aether to authorities, but he can and sure as hell will dump aether on the spot. tighnari moves on but despite the logic and anger he never really stops missing him, aether doesn't move on or even stop thinking about him for a single day, so it's a couple years of post-breakup pining. up until aether, fully believing he is bleeding to death, calls him to hear his voice for last time. except tighnari is practical and resourceful and he has no time or patience for that hopeless romantic bullshit, so he goes to look for aether, patches him up as much as he can until the ambulance arrives. except at this point aether is unconscious and hanging by a thread. tighnari is still angry but he still doesn't have the heart to not go to the hospital and watch over until lumine arrives at least. he tells himself it's not because he still loves him and he is lying, it is true that he would do it for anyone but also he is so difficult to fall in love that he is also not one to fall out of love easily. thing is, sticking around has him witness the horrible world aether is the part of - aether naturally has a lot of enemies and tighnari definitely didn't know the correct procedure for discretion for an assassin. the said vague enemies are clever and subtle enough that tighnari is ridiculed by the hospital staff for asking for help, and he suspects some of them have been paid off or undercover as well. while tighnari can defend himself from a random attacker on the street and doesn't lack the muscle strength, he is not a trained fighter like these people, either, so he has to find creative ways to fight them off, nothing is off-limits, he even sets traps cuz hey he does that at work every week and he is damn good with his chemicals. he is already exhausted, he definitely made the right choice leaving aether, because even if he could somehow look past what aether really does when he's gone, which he never could-
someone gets to aether.
tighnari doesn't make it in time to stop them from taking off the oxygen mask, and in his rush to put it back on asap and minimize the damage, he tries to knock them unconscious as usual but the blow actually kills them.
to say the accident fucks tighnari up is an understatement.
lumine finally arrives but it's too late, she arranges the cleanup and is very grateful that tighnari saved her brother, she tries to reassure him that it was self-defense but tighnari finds it difficult to believe her, it wasn't self defense, he was defending someone who took who-knows-how-many lives and was going to take even more once he got healed. lumine explains to tighnari what kind of people they go after, but tighnari sees right through the god complex, insists it doesn't make it fair, and leaves. he doesn't know how he will put everything behind but he is eager to try, he won't shy away from therapy if he can figure out how honest he could be in one, just get him miles and miles and miles away right now.
again, though, he didn't know how to be discreet in a way that matters in the assassin world. while he was defending himself and aether in the hospital, he was already seen by many people, he was registered to the hospital with his full ID, and by the persons who were observing undercover, he already made himself known as an ally to lumine and aether. so he gets targeted as well, and he would be easy prey if not for lumine, who offers to provide him sanctuary until the word of him dies down. he doesn't have to do anything, just stay in this area in the middle of nothing, if he feels imprisoned he can walk out anytime he wants, "you saved my brother" pinky promise. he wants to be stubborn, but for the sake of the safety of his family and people around him, not to mention the realization that he can't just live with a constant threat on his life, he eventually takes the risk of trusting her, cursing the day he ever got involved with aether, love be damned.
the rest is a steady collapse of tighnari's self of sense and morality. it's the constant assault of little things. lumine's friendship. the askew normality that comes with living with assassins. talking to people and understanding where they are coming from. realizing those who are threatening him and his loved ones (which begrudgingly includes lumine and aether) are cruel to the point that their entire motivation can be as shallow as eliminating competition or their wealth. he sees the death of certain figures actually help halt their harmful projects. don't misunderstand, he never sympathizes. he is of the opinion that there can always be another way, but he also realizes that the organization is a reaction, not the first strike.
it's not pure observation, of course. lumine does love tighnari, she doesn't want him to get away, not as her friend and not as the love of her brother's life, so she is trying to get him to make peace with the way they live, and she is twisting everything until it's more palatable for tighnari, until he can stomach more and more. miko helps her achieve that, mostly because she is not too keen on housing someone already so against them from within, it's too risky - she can figure out a use for tighnari as long as he can be loyal.
the day their patience pays off is when lumine slips up and returns wounded from a mission. miko is strategically harsh, and mentions aether always covering lumine's back so there are no surprises, until tighnari asks if there is no one who can go with lumine, she can't go on like this, who knows when aether will wake up, if he even does. he gets explained that the twins both being on-site is actually an exception, usually there is a sniper who is the eyes of the operation and covers another assassin when the mission is risky and logistically allows one. if only one of the twins were required to be on-site, usually the other twin would be the sniper. then why would they not assign lumine a sniper? well, you see, the twins get to experience a mundane life because they are a special case. they need to be able to blend in for undercover ops, and the precautions the organization takes to make it possible also lets them have the double-life. however, one of those precautions is keeping their positions a secret even within the organization - not that the organization is that wide to begin with, but everyone tighnari has talked to is part of this tight little circle. as a result, there is actually no sniper who knows lumine, because the twins never needed another assassin to work with them. lumine is ridiculously skilled so working solo has worked out for her so far, but pairing assassins off is to cover unpredictable situations, after all, and even she can be a victim to sheer luck.
it's all a setup for tighnari to volunteer his sharp eyes, because miko still wants to make him useful, and either he is gonna develop the stockholm syndrome toward their little club or get blackmailed into keeping their secrets. either way, he needs to put in the work.
she gets what she wants. because he is concerned about lumine and he gets why the target is forcing their hand, he offers to help, but not without certain conditions. if all they need is an eye to warn lumine, he can do that. he was a ranger, he is agile and he has sharp senses, but he is not killing anyone. and surely they don't need to be worried about him running off with proof of the organization's existence since no one is going to let him leave with any. counter-offer: just take some basic sniper training, you dont have to use it, and even if you do, you can aim at non-vitals, just enough that lumine has time and doesn't get hurt. the whole premise brings tighnari war flashbacks about that hospital night protecting aether, he had again set out to not hurt anyone permanently but ended up actually taking a life, still losing aether anyways, and changed his own life forever. with a little calculated nudging thanks to the manipulative lesbians, he finds the horror actually motivates him. he wants to be in control this time. he is already ten miles deep in this hell, and previously he made a fatal enough mistake that aether is practically dead, it's only lumine's stubbornness keeping his heart beating, and tighnari can at the very least cover lumine this one time.
his past olympic archery skills doesn't exactly translate into using a sniper, but he is still eerily a natural at it. to his relief, he doesn't need to use the weapon that one time.
then the one time becomes two. then three, then four, and suddenly tighnari is officially lumine's partner, tailing her whenever the environment allows for a setup with a scope. just as he eases into doing nothing but watch, something goes awry, and he wounds someone to allow lumine a getaway. this happens once in a while, not often but enough that tighnari is fully assimilated into the morally-righteous-assassin-mindset where they think they are doing this for a purpose within reason so he is "fine" with it. he doesn't believe miko's justifications, but he fully believes in lumine's.
then he kills someone.
a target reveals himself one step ahead of lumine, except he is still going off the old intel that she is working with her twin brother and not an entirely new, dedicated sniper. so he kills him, both to protect lumine and complete the mission before it blows up into something bigger and more public.
he doesn't say a word on the way back.
he has his first mental breakdown that night, visiting aether's room.
he didn't visit much before, he never felt the need to, he is too pragmatic for that. a comatose man is poor company, it would only serve to make tighnari feel worse, so he would stop by maybe once a month, make sure nothing's worse by his novice medical knowledge, and the small heartbreak he gets from reading there is no improvement either is nothing he looks forward to. it doesn't help that he is never not angry with aether, because it is his fault, his stupid phone call - maybe even earlier than that, with discourtesy to not only break up with tighnari in time, but to actually plan a goddamn proposal to tie him further into his stupid fucked up life. and yet tighnari still loves him even though he should at this point despise him with all his being. oddly enough, as tainted as the sweet memories are, tighnari can't find it in himself to loathe them, and the first (technically the second) time he takes a life, he gives up on trying to understand why.
instead, he walks into aether's room, sits by his side, and tells him everything that has happened since he called tighnari that night. it's not nonsensical, he starts, there are studies that prove you can hear me, just no promise that you will remember it, so listen carefully, you owe me that much. halfway through, the lump in his throat gets big enough to suffocate him, and he's gasping for air, he knows he is having a panic attack but he can't think of anything, not one way to make it better. he just buries his face on aether's shoulder, and he doesn't even smell like aether anymore, tighnari knew this of course, he can smell the lack of it every time he visits the room, but there is something so fucking wrong with being this close and still sensing nothing, and he cries, he cries for the life he left behind, he cries because he misses collei, he cries because he misses aether, he cries because he misses himself, because he doesn't know who he is anymore.
looking back, he calls it a temporary insanity, because there is no other way to describe the way he yelled at aether's unconscious face, telling him to wake up, it's the least he can do, they didn't get married because tighnari thought him a monster but now they are both monsters, so please wake up, "don't let me navigate through this wretched world you've brought me into alone, you owe me that much."
tighnari thought aether a cold-blooded killer. earlier today, he killed someone in cold blood too, and he only felt bad about it for himself, because it was the nail in the coffin for his old ethos. he felt scared because he was losing himself, not because of the douchebag he killed.
there is no turning back now. tighnari can accept that. he can get to know himself again, he can survive. but if he is brought into this kicking and trashing, if this is what the adaptation made him become, he deserves not going through this alone.
he asks lumine if he can go home now, if they've cleared everyone after him. lumine tells him that the man he killed was the last one. she thinks she is leaving for good, but then he turns and asks him is there anything he should do to get the same deal as the twins - the pop in for a mission, and then have a normal life in your free time deal. he doesn't want to abandon lumine. he wants to be there if aether ever wakes up.
lumine is surprised, but miko thinks he is so predictable it's boring.
after every mission, he visits aether, and tells him about what happened since the last time he visited, including the mission. it's a bit like confessing his sins, he once jokes to no audience. lumine lives nearby, they go have a coffee or go shopping sometimes. it's weird, but it's comforting.
i only do happy endings, but i will acknowledge that while this ending is the happiest it could be, it is not all too happy, tighnari got throughly shattered and put back together wrong for it, but here goes: aether does eventually wake up, and tighnari supports him through physical therapy, during which they talk. a lot. to say aether is surprised as to everything that happened is an understatement, but he does not agree with tighnari - yes, tighnari's opinion changed, but he himself didn't change. things he went through to get to this point was traumatic, and aether explicitly asks tighnari to lean on him when the Horrors tm come back to haunt him, but... he's still the tighnari aether has fallen in love with, insert lovey dovey yet realistic examples about tighnari's passion and love, he just has a different perspective. tighnari doesn't fully believe him, but enough that he feels a little more relieved, a little better about himself.
their future, post-ending life can still be a sitcom but as an entirely different series with a different tone, with the occasional but necessary angst as tighnari deals with his issues and goes through more character development, sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. he is loved and supported though, both platonically and romantically. he keeps his relationship with collei, it strained with his disappearance and the trauma she got with it, but they fall back into the rhythm eventually.

*sigh* Finally I finished Alchemy of souls season 2
After finishing this I honestly regret ever starting Season 1 because that made me obligated to finish this and oh what a glorious disappointment it was. Let me start first off by ticking off the few things I liked:
Go yoon jung seamlessly filling in for Jung so min. She impressed me a lot in the first episode and she has continued to do so. She just did not have much to go forth because of Hong sister's misogynistic handling of her character as well as the female characters in this show but I will come back to it later.
2 Acting of the cast was top-notch.
Crown prince's character development was done well. He left the most impact on me in this show overall.
Now, to the things I did not like and why it was a disappointment:
Naksu….ahh…the level of regret and pity I have for the absolute character assassination she had to go through to elevate the male characters, it's borderline disgusting. I just could not believe that in the year 2022-2023 two female writers would be this level of misogynistic. Unbelievable. The 2nd half of AOS showed us that they are never gonna raise her to the equal status any of the male characters possess but we still foolishly pressed on just to be dealt with utter disrespect of a character who could have been so much MORE. In part 2, both she and jin bu yeon, another badass character was reduced to nothing but 5 mins of mentionable screen time. Jin mu might be the cause of their deaths in the show but they were killed without kindness at the hands of Hong sisters. Hong sisters' misogyny was not only confined to those two characters but also reduced ALL of the female characters as conniving, mean, dumb, and spoiled one-dimensional idiots whose only job was to put up with orders and requests from the male characters. Maidservant kim who was the only exception is nothing more than a glorified mother figure whose identity starts and ends with her young master. It is downright criminal and blasphemous what these writers did to such talented actresses.
Other than the middle school romance disguised as a fated lovers' angle and the last-minute mythical creature/let's-show-how-cool-the-male-lead-is plot device, I guess they could not come up with anything that is actually creative. But at this point, that's to be expected. Jin mu's divination bell strategy stays largely forgotten to the point he also forgets about it and meets a demise that is so anti-climactic it's laughable.
I honestly can go on and on but at this point, I am so tired. I just finished it for the sake of finishing it but I like I said wish I never even started it because what a FUCKING DISAPPOINTMENT. Toward the finale I just wanted it to end. I did not feel anything for the supposed "deaths" that eventually meant nothing. The nonexistence of a plot, the utter 180 of an assassin whose only goal was to serve the man, and even after pulling off an astounding rebirth was more interested in finding a man than remembering who she is, the shoved-down romance that would make you literally CHOKE, the absurdity of lengthy draggy episodes filled with nothing but nonsense. I wish I never started it. I am never watching anything ever from the Hong sisters. The only reason I think anyone was interested was the CGI and action but even that was missing in part 2 so anyone who does not have a lot of time on your hands I URGE you to watch ANYTHING ELSE.

Chain my heart
Prompt: Jake and MC dated in the past but somehow, between love and responsibility, Jake chose his responsibility, leaving his love to bleed behind. It's been 2 months since that and MC's blood still churns to avenge her broken heart. What she doesn't know is things are way more complicated than they appear.
Warning: Violence, Weapons, Angst?, Cuss words.
"Lemme give you a little advice. Never wear a backless red dress for action", I mumble to Dan who is aiming his sniper from the roof of a five storey building.
"That's why I got you a backless red dress with a slit", he replies back in a low tone, emphasising on the word slit.
I push part of my dress back, revealing all of my bare thigh and strap a gun holster around my upper thigh. "Yeah, the ONLY good part about it", I say as I slip a pistol in the holster.
"Boo, stop complaining about petty things", he relaxes his posture and looks back at me, leaning his head on his arm. I roll my eyes at him and push back my dress over my thigh, my lower leg still revealing.
"Sure. Now when will you stop sniping like a pussy and charge in with me?", I ask in exasperation from waiting in the chilly air in tiny ass clothes. "Though I hate you for making me wear this. Why can't I wear my usual assassin outfit?", I whine and irritatedly move my dress back and forth.
"I not only want those perverted men distracted, but also you concealed in the filthy rich crowd. Plus hackerman would recognise your badass aura", he says as he shuffles his bag for an energy drink.
"Come on Dan, he has a name", I groan at his habit of coming up with new names.
"One I don't give a fuck about AND one who shouldn't either", he scoffs back at me, "Aha, found it", and opens the can with his teeth.
That stung hard but hell with admitting that. "All things apart, I must say though, Jack Daniels without a beard is a tragedy", I quip back at him, masking the sudden grief I felt.
"Yeah yeah. Insult me all you want but if you let hackerman slip today, I'll strangle you myself with my bare hands", he nonchalantly replies back, chugging at the red bull. I look away from him, moving towards the terrace. Chilled Chicago air slaps my face, reminding me of how I was shattered, cheated, used and thrown away. And how I'm again feeling weak for that wretched man.
Who ruined me. Who broke me. Who made me beg for him to stay.
And I'm here again feeling bad for that man? I must be a fool. A dumb fucking fool.
But no more. I'll have him by his balls. Be it dead or alive.
"Okay little one, now's your time. The show's starting", Dan alerts me, snapping me out of my little self reflection.
"Hmm, okay. Right. I'll get going now", I tell that to myself more than him and take a quick breathe in as I feel my feet falter. Dan gets up and jerks me by my shoulder.
"Listen MC. I'm gonna be there in a few myself. Do not panic, do not give yourself away. If you feel suffocated, just merge in the crowd and give yourself time. Most importantly, if you manage to put your finger on hackerman, maintain your distance and observe. He'll recognise you the moment you speak or even look at him", Dan gives me a run through of the situation and presses my shoulder.
"Yeah right. Thanks again, Dan", I quickly add in before starting my mission. As I move towards the elevator, I hear Dan deeply sigh and crush the can he was drinking in anger. He knows what happened the last time Jake... he and I met. Dan was the one who helped me stick together the pieces of my shattered self, pushed me to move on and now is helping me with this.
If not for myself, then for Dan, I have to do this. I need to.
I rush towards the flashy building where the gathering has assembled, wearing my heels before exiting the five storey building I was previously in. The moment I see the door in front of me, I start walking elegantly, allowing my hips to sway from side to side.
"Your invitation, Miss?", the guard in front of me asks. I pull out the VIP token which Dan gave me, and flash it at the guard who quickly stiffens and bows as I make my way through.
The open doors reveal a giant gathering of powerful men and their wives. A few powerful women and their escorts too. I roam my gaze over everyone, spotting the infamous mafia who was arrested for adultery a few months back. But that's not who I am here for, I'm here for...
"Looking for somebody?", a voice breathes in my ear and I jerk my neck around, turning back at the source. But there's nobody there. Strange.
I grab a champagne from the waiter passing by me, and I gulp down the drink in my glass in one go and ask for another. The fuck is with me already hallucinating about him?
"Are you sure you can handle it?", a guy standing behind me asks. I look at him, my gaze going over him. Another rich aristocrat. Or a mafia's son? I don't know. He's wearing a crisp white shirt and black pants, one of his ear studded and hair reaching his neck. "Please excuse my rudeness, I'm Rygel", he extends his hand towards me in a handshake, which of course I return.
"I'm MC. Hello", I awkwardly babble at him. I'm not here for this, how should I tell him that. I do not have time for this!
"You seem a bit lost", he tips his chin and asks me, crooking one of his brows at me.
"Oh no no. Nothing like that", Fuck MC, compose yourself! I find a couple of people dancing towards the side. "Would you like to dance?", I ask, trying to divert his attention from me. A few moves won't hurt right? Plus it would keep me concealed from...
"I hope that isn't the alcohol speaking", pretty face tries to be quirky. Nah, I hope I don't throw up, especially on him.
"Oh haha, you're so funny", I reply back, sarcasm dripping from my sentence and lightly hit his arm in humour. He takes my hand and we move towards the dancing crowd.
"It's a mixer happening", Rygel tells me as he looks at the crowd, sounding disappointed.
"What's that?"
"Ah it's just normal dance with people switching their partners from time to time. C'mon now, the song just ended", he explains and then pulls me with him to the crowd. What did I get stuck into! Also where the fuck is Dan?
The song starts playing and so does everybody's dance. I can't help but think, what is the point of all of this? Yeah right. Rich people having too much time and money on their hands. Pfft.
Amidst my zoning out, I'm suddenly pushed forward by him towards the next person in turn but since it was so sudden, I find myself stumbling as I'm thrown forward.
"Woah, careful. Are you okay?", a familiar voice asks me, concern reflecting in his tone. I don't dare look up at him for he's going to recognise me. The place where his hands are, trying to break my fall, burn with excruciating pain.
Suddenly the champagne tower collapses down, diverting his attention from me. I quickly scram from his embrace and rush towards a less denser area, holding my holstered gun through my dress. Abruptly I'm pulled into a corner harshly via my arm and held against the wall. Out of instinct my voice moves ahead to scream but a hand is put on my mouth and Dan hushes me. My gawking eyes seem to return to normal when I take him in, deeply breathing to tone down from the sudden panic.
"What the fuck, Dan?", I whisper at me angrily, pushing him away from me, "You gave me a fucking shocker of my life!"
"What the fuck me? What the fuck were you doing? How did you land up exactly in that asshole's arms after I specifically asked you not to?!", he whispers back at me, more like a 'whisper shout'. "Thank fuck I arrived when I did and saved your sorry ass or I wouldn't know where would you have been by now. Probably on his bike into the unicorn world", he scoffs at me and gets out, revealing himself with his rifle in hand.
I rush towards him, not to stop him though. Screams fill the place by the people who notice the rifle and start calling for their bodyguards. But Dan already killed them. Aw, sad.
Dan hangs his rifle on his back and runs towards Jake, jumping on him from behind. The element of surprise takes Jake out, who then struggles to push Dan from above him. Dan starts landing punches on Jake's face after which I ask him to stop. He gets up and lets me take charge of the situation.
I offer a hand to Jake to try to help him stand. I snicker as I think about Dan's pissed off thoughts going like, "What the fuck, MC?" "Why this?". I pull Jake up who stumbles a bit, swaying a bit from side to side just from a few hard blows and look at him for a second. Man, how did we reach to this? I really wish we hadn't but no point doing that.
I push my dress behind, revealing my holster and take the pistol out, aiming it at Jake's forehead. "Any last wishes?", I dramatise the whole scene which keeps me from letting tears fall from my eyes.
"Yes. Just a second", I look at him bewildered when suddenly one half of the building blasts off, making me crouch down low. I scream from the suddenness of it when the pistol in my hand is kicked off and I'm being pulled away via my arm.
"Oh hell the fuck no. I'm not coming with you", I shout at being pulled away by Jake, trying to free my wrist, "Let me go, you bastard." But he still doesn't quit and lifts me up. "No no no, put me down. I can't be with you Jake, not anymore", I sob as I throw punches on his back to somehow get him to put me down but no, he stays stoic as hell and keeps going.
"MC, where are you?!", I hear Dan shout as he tries to find me in the chaos.
"Answer him and he dies", Jake cooly tells me and drags me out of the building. I see ambulances lined up outside through my tear blurred eyes and throw a few more punches on his back.
"I fucking hate you Jake! I fucking hate the very existence of you", I spit back at him from the disgust of again ending up with him.
"I know, doll. Now shut the fuck up", he tells me and opens his car's boot space and throw me in there. "Now if you want your hands or limbs to come in between the door, by all means, resist." He crooks one of his brows at me pausing briefly for any reaction from me before slamming the door shut.
Now reader, you must wondering that why didn't I resist. Well, I have a few... tools of me, one which can use to open this door. So why resist and waste my precious energy on putting on a show when I can easily escape out.
So, I lay calmly in here since I don't wanna pass out from less oxygen in here, waiting patiently for Jake to start the car.
To be continued...
(I had this draft from a few months. I just felt like posting it. Lemme know how you like it)

Entry 97: Easily Explaining A Better Plan
Revelation Chapter 8: Traitor's Brand
The gang arrives at Fort Jinya. Yukimura comes out and calls Corrin and Azura traitors. Side note, Yukimura is one of only two units not recruitable in Revelation. Corrin begs Yukimura to listen to their claims that Nohr isn’t the bad guy and he tells them to fuck off. Yukimura reveals that Takumio has been captured and Ryoma is missing.
This battle reuses the map from Chapter 7 of Birthright, except with our units approaching from the south instead of defending from within. Corrin fights against Yukimura, Saizo, and Orochi, sparing each of them. Corrin asks for help in ending the violence, but no one listens. Saizo tries to suicide bomb, which is a bit of an overreaction. Kaze and Sakura show up and tell him to knock it off.
Corrin finally gets a chance to talk and says that the murder of Mikoto and the invasion of Hoshido weren’t caused by Garon. Except, they were. He was working for Anankos, but he absolutely was responsible. Corrin sucks at explaining things. Saizo says Corrin has an overactive imagination, which isn’t helped by Corrin being unable to explain anything.
Corrin is not some manipulative, intelligent Game of Thrones character. If they were, they would have went to Hoshido, told them that Azura remembers another man manipulating Garon from the shadows, and asked for help in ending the Nohrian invasion by taking out the true leader of Nohr. Then, they could have taken their new troops to Valla via the lake portal. Next, they could have invited Xander to a peace talk and shown him the truth with the crystal ball. Xander would have no problem grabbing a few squads of Nohrian troops for the invasion, allowing for the gang to invade Valla and kill Anankos. But no we have to watch Corrin be an idiot and characters randomly trust them for half of the game.
Sakura and Kaze decide to join. Corrin tells Sakura that it sucks they can’t explain things to her, in front of the lake which is a portal to Valla. Fucking ridiculous. Also Subaki and Hana show up. And I grabbed Mozu between chapters.
Support: Beruka/Xander
C: Beruka warns Xander that he is in danger.
B: Xander realizes that Beruka has been hired to kill him. He tells her to try it, knowing that he has weapon triangle advantage.
A: Beruka kills her employer out of loyalty to Camilla. Beruka resigns from the army, but Xander demands she stay, saying that he shouldn't banish people for thinking about dishonorable actions. And I mean, compassion is great, but Beruka is still an assassin. She has done dishonorable things.
S: Beruka avoids Xander out of guilt. This upsets him, because he's in love with her. Beruka says she isn't fit to be queen but Xander says Nohr needs a queen familiar with the dark. Beruka asks if Xander would kill her if he had to to save Nohr. Xander says yes, but it would haunt him til his dying day. Beruka accepts, not wanting to come between Xander and his kingdom.
Review: An excellent Support, with Xander being a badass and a good leader.
Support: Leo/Peri
C: Peri invites Leo to go kill some random person with her. Leo is horrified and stops her.
B: Leo explains that killing is wrong. Peri is confused by this, because they kill enemy soldiers constantly. Leo struggles to argue what the difference is.
A: Leo explains that killing is always wrong, but there are circumstances where you must kill in battle to serve a higher purpose and make sure good prevails. And honestly, he'd have a point if he A: didn't constantly kill unarmed enemies so Corrin doesn't have to, and B: wasn't part of a brutal invading army driven by no motive besides conquest.
S: Leo realizes that people will try to hold Peri accountable for all the evil stuff and marries her to protect her.
Review: This is a really interesting Support, but not quite for the intended reasons. Peri, and I can't believe I'm saying this, is right in this Support. She's right that there is little difference between her killing for fun and the actions of the Nohrian army, especially those of men like Hans and Iago. This Support fails by not having Leo acknowledge his own shortcomings. In many ways, Leo is just as cruel and evil as Peri. They both kill constantly. The only difference is that Peri likes it. But, at the end of the day, what solace does Leo's guilt give to his victims?
Support: Charlotte/Odin
C: Odin immediately sees through Charlotte's bullshit and assumes she's evil, stating "your villainous 'tees' and nefarious 'hees' have no effect on me!"
B: Charlotte explains she lies to make men like her. Odin relates to this desire and tells Charlotte she's doing it wrong. Odin gives Charlotte advice on how to act like Odin.
A: Charlotte acts like Odin. Other people think she's weird. Odin is amazed.
S: Odin falls in love with Charlotte because she acts like him. Charlotte punches him to make sure he'll still love her.
Review: A pretty good Support. Seeing Charlotte do Odin's weirdness is fun, as is Odin being completely oblivious to the fact that people don't like his act.
Support: Effie/Keaton
C: Effie works out by carrying around a tree trunk. She assumes Keaton can carry it and tosses it at him to catch. He almost dies.
B: Keaton and Effie go hunting. After a rabbit runs under a tree, Effie offers to rip the tree out of the ground. Keaton instead suggests they lie in wait.
A: Effie bench presses two trees at once. Keaton gives Effie homemade jerky.\
S: Keaton proposes. Effie says yes and promises to protect him, because she is clearly far stronger.
Review: Why is Effie being stronk so amusing? Maybe it's because the rest of the cast are mostly human in capabilities. Whatever. This one was good.

I get anime-only complaining about the lack of assassin Yor screen time after 25 episodes of the anime. However, to downplay her role in the series since, as they say, she only became the "housewife" in the story is to miss the point of Yor's character entirely. She finally has the chance to be "normal" and to be appreciated outside of her just killing people. Loid and Anya are both aware and focused on the mission such that their interactions with others might still be less genuine (Loid with his family and Anya with Damian). For Yor, her every interaction with other people seems to be more sincere since the only thing she hides is her true job but not who she is. She also has no underlying motives. That's why Yor's relationship with Anya as her mother and to Loid as his wife are probably one of the most genuine relationship Anya and Loid have in the series since Yor never pretends or hold back in caring for them. Yor trying to be a mother and a wife is also a start and a step for her to develop and see her own worth as a person and not just a tool for the Garden. This development, of course, is still incomplete but it is one of the development I look forward the most in the story.
Of course, I also want more assassin Yor (can't wait for S2!) but at the end, the assassin and spy part are less important than the central theme of the whole story which is the family itself. It spice things up for sure, but I don't think fans like me stuck around this long in the story just to see Loid and Yor be badass and kick some ass. Yes, it could be part of the reasons but not the main one (at least for me).
I do agree though that Endo could have written more Yor killing scenes in the pre-Cruise arc (there is one with her in the butt-shot date but that didn't make it into the anime). But I also feel like Endo didn't because it will shift the tone of the story and could be harder to support Yor to be a part of this family (especially in the manga with how sketchy and ambiguous the Garden's allegiance and methods seem to be). Of course, he could have written Yor not to be an assassin, that's a valid criticism, but it does take away from the fun and potential angst (and seriously, people will still have the same complaints about Yor being just a housewife). And given that he already written her to be an assassin and the series took off more than he expected, I think Endo might have realized too late the responsibility on his part and the conflict it arises to him in a moral aspect. The thing is, I think Endo does not seem to like killing for the sake of just killing. He could only pass murdering people as comedic and lighthearted for only so long since, afterall, murder does require some moral dilemma to justify it. Even for a comedy series, this might feel gratuitous if he kept Yor killing people and the Japanese audience might seemed less inclined if he took this direction (I remember some Japanese tweets pointing out the way the main mcs in Buddy Daddies just kill people without any moral implications on their part. Perhaps the delivery is too lighthearted for them since there seemed to be less complaints regarding this outside Japan).
Anyway, these are something to think about regarding Endo's choice to not include more Yor assassin scenes pre-Cruise arc. I think the criticisms of assassin Yor in the early part of the series are valid but simply dismissing it as poor character writing on Yor's part is not really seeing the entire picture at all. Moreover, with how Endo is setting up Yor and the Garden in the manga, we might actually explore the gray area of Yor's profession, and its eventual conflict in her role in the Forger family. The manga is not even 100 chapters yet and it is a slow burn in plot and character relationships. Yor is just not there to be stabby stabby. She is a character on her own right and I think people should appreciate her more than just being the hot, assassin mom/wife.

A few days had passed…
“Sir. Lock-on the left guy in the corner,” Taehyung spoke into his hearing device. “Got it,” Yoongi targeted the guy as he shot him. The guy fell to the ground as Jimin walked towards him. “Boss, this doesn’t seem to be the one,” Jimin said, checking the wounded guy.
Crap. I thought that I had finally gotten a hold of Jayden again. But I missed my target.
“Yo! Come on, I heard the shots coming from here! Our hideout has been busted!” Some men yelled as they ran. “Boss, what should we do?” Taehyung asked, looking over at Yoongi for his response. Fuck. These 3-man-cell missions aren’t going so well.
“Burn it.” Yoongi said coldly, “burn it all away, make sure none of them gets to run away anymore.” He poured bottles of alcohol on the ground.
What’s Suga thinking of? This decision is rather rash. Jimin thought. “Kim, how many are there?”
“Around 5-8 men, but I’ve lured them back into the place. It’s up to you and Suga to finish everything now.” Taehyung said, walking to their vehicle.
“Fuck! It’s the Bangtan! We have to get out of here!” A guy shouted as Yoongi shot him. “This is bad, we can’t get out of here!” Another guy yelled desperately.
“Park,” Yoongi looked over as he nodded, “got it, Sir,” Jimin said as they both threw a lighter and a matchstick to the ground. The entire place began to burn as the two of them got out through a large hole in the ceiling.
“Come on, get in, JK reported to me that the GOT7 are waiting for us at the mansion,” Taehyung said, pulling up as they drove away.
“Min Suga, aren’t you missing a member of yours?” Jaebeom asked, looking around as Yoongi sighed. “We’re back to being a four-man group, Jaebeom.”
“What? So Ms. Y/N isn’t here anymore?” Jackson got up as he was surprised. “Noona doesn’t work for us anymore and we’ve severed all ties with her, Mr. Wang,” Jungkook replied as he looked down.
“How come?” Jackson asked as Yoongi clenched his fist when Jimin looked over, “look Wang, let it go.”
“We need your assistance, JK’s recovery isn’t taking too long. And I need to run as four members if I want any chance of chasing Seth Mikeson down.”
Jaebeom sighed before nodding. “The last time we did a deal the WayV almost got us, remember?” Yoongi nodded, running his tongue at the front teeth. “I know, but I got us all saved, right?”
“Listen if you don’t want to help I understand, but I’ll hand you over twice the money if you do.”
“Okay Min Suga, I’ll negotiate. But I need an explanation, we can discuss it just you and me in your office.” Jaebeom said, getting up from the couch as he walked upstairs.
“So tell me the reason why you severed all ties with Ms. Y/N, did she turn out to be a threat to you in the end?” Jaebeom asked, looking at Yoongi as he shook his head slightly. “I’ll tell you the whole story and what happened.”
“…She was never a threat, but she decided to leave us.” Yoongi conveyed as he finished addressing the whole situation to Jaebeom. “Our encounter with the Way V Gang was also partially the reason for her departure.” He sighed, looking at the window as Jaebeom scoffed.
“Min Suga, I’ll lend a hand in your upcoming mission. Want to go out for a drink?” He asked when Yoongi turned around. “Sure, let’s go,” he said, grabbing his car keys as the two of them walked out of the office.
“Boss going out to drink?” Jimin asked, sipping on boba milk tea. “Yeah, I’m going out drinking with Jaebeom. I might need you to pick me up later.” Yoongi said, leaving with Jaebeom when Jackson walked into the kitchen.
“So it’s true, huh? Y/N left you all?” Jackson asked, drinking from his water bottle as Jimin nodded, “Boss doesn't want to talk about Y/N or ever mention her name again. She has become a stranger to us now.” He explained as he simply nodded. “Alright, understood Park.”
“I suppose you don’t want to talk about Y/N, but I can’t help but wonder,” The bartender handed him two Soju bottles. “Do you still have any feelings for that woman, Suga?” He asked, pouring the Soju into the two shot glasses as he drank his shot. “You know that my personal relationship doesn’t concern you, Jaebeom,” Yoongi scoffed, drinking the shot.
“I know but you seem so different now. I don’t want you to get too soft over an ordinary woman, Suga,” He said as Yoongi scoffed, “Y/N was no ordinary woman, she was special. She was willing to sacrifice her own life if it meant that the Way V wouldn’t get our location or information on us, she was my first love in high school but I knew her way back in kindergarten.” The two Mafia bosses continued drinking for hours when Jaebeom dialed Jackson’s number, telling him to pick him up.
“Jesus, Boss you sure drank a lot tonight,” Jimin sighed, wrapping Yoongi’s arm around his neck. “Shaddap…” He mumbled, completely drunk as he helped him out of the car. “I’ve received a call from a client. They seem to have a small job for us.” Jimin informed him as he started the engine and began to drive. “I’ll look at it tomorrow–” Yoongi groaned, drinking a bit of water bottle. “–Boss, I believe it’s an urgent job, please just check your mail once we’re home.” He advised as he scoffed at his member’s response.
Yoongi scoffed heavily, sitting in his office chair before frowning. He checked his mail.
Dear Min Suga
[I’m writing this because I and my daughter are in a dangerous situation, my stalker whom I’ve reported several times to the police for theft and sexual assaults. He won’t leave me alone. The police have arrested him before but he is out of jail after two weeks.
His name is Nathan Jones, I haven’t been able to sleep or live in peace. He has always found my address and workplace.
I’ve moved 4 times because of him, please do something about him. I don’t care if you may end up killing him, I just want to live safely with my daughter. I’m willing to pay a lot of money to your group for this favor, my number is 09 01 19 92.
Please contact me as soon as you’ve read my message.]
- Christina W.
“Another one of these human scumbags, huh?” He finished reading it and scoffed then he dialed the number immediately. I don’t know if she went to bed. I mean it’s almost 4:00 AM…
“Hello…”
“Hey. This is Min Suga, from the Bangtan Gang. I’ve read your mail, I’m willing to take this job request. Are you available after 3 PM?”
“Uh, that’s bad timing I have to pick up my daughter from kindergarten at that time. Can I request to meet with one of your members around 1 PM at the “Ewha Womans Univ.” station and meet up in your office?” The woman suggested as Yoongi nodded. “We can do that. Is there anything else?”
“Regarding the payment, how much do I owe you?”
“The Bangtan usually solves the payment inside my office, but I can assure you this isn’t going to cost you a lot. Hmm, expect it to be between 5,000-10,000₩. I’ll talk more in detail when we meet in person, right now I’m too drunk.” Yoongi scoffed as the woman giggled a little, “alright that’s a deal. I’ll hang up now, see you tomorrow Mr. Min,” She said before hanging up.
Yoongi rolled his neck, opening his laptop as he typed the information into his word document, “right this client’s name is Christina W. and this job is regarding a sexual assaulter, hmm.”
Fuck, I got so fucking wasted. I could barely even focus during that call. Yoongi thought to himself, shaking his head as he walked over to the couch, kicking his shoes off as he lay on it before falling asleep.
It was Tuesday the 2nd of June 2020. “Morning, I’ve made us breakfast Hoseok,” I said, gently patting his hair as he growled, turning around in his bed. “Alright, I’ll be up in a second,” He said in his tired, raspy voice as I left his bedroom.
“So I’m going to stay at Jisoo’s place, I’ll move my clothes and belongings by tomorrow, what time is your dance class?”
“Heh, it’s at 8:00 PM, but do you need me to help with moving your boxes or such?”
“I’d appreciate it, Hobi, but the ladies will help me. Have fun with your dance crew, okay?” I said, eating my Kimchi scallion pancakes. “Roseanne and Lisa?” He asked, eating his pancakes as I nodded, “also Jisoo now that she’s back in Seoul,” I smiled.
Yoongi woke up to the harsh light shimmering through the blinds as he grumbled. He checked the time as it indicated 8:49 AM. “Fuck,” he rubbed the back of his neck, “I should’ve drank so much last night,” he got up as he left the office and went to the bathroom and pissed into the toilet. Yoongi started the shower and began undressing, he threw his clothes into the basket as it was filled with previously worn clothes.
He finished showering as he put on a clean pair of boxers, a white tank top, and some loose Adidas grey sweatpants. He went downstairs to make his usual Americano. “Morning, Hyung,” Jungkook said, grabbing banana milk out of the refrigerator. “Mornin’ Jungkook, you’re up quite early, how’s your arm?”
“Yeah, I was working out earlier. I’m starting to feel a bit better, I think I can finally start going on missions again. My wound has almost healed.”
“That’s good to know, I have a meeting with a client later at 1 PM. It’s regarding a sexual assaulter and stalker.” Jungkook looked at him as they nodded, “another one of those, huh?”
“Yeah, I think me and him should be able to locate the asshole, no problem. But I might have to get help from GOT7 to make sure he’s gone for good.”
“Alright, want me to help with anything?” Jungkook asked as he nodded, “once the client’s here I want you to do some investigation on recent and the most sexual assault attacks in the districts of Seoul. Send the report to my mail.” Yoongi commanded as he went to his office.
“Hello, Mr. Min,” the woman walked inside Yoongi’s office and bowed. “Hello Ms. W. welcome, please have a seat,” Yoongi pointed at the empty chair in front of his desk. “Thanks, let me describe what this crazy stalker looks like.” She said, placing a few polaroids on the stalker as he scoffed. “Seen this bastard before can’t believe the cops have already released him again.” He sighed, adjusting his glasses as he began typing into his laptop. “You and your daughter are living safely now, right?” Christina nodded, “yeah, but I’m worried he might find us soon again.” she held her hands together nervously as he looked at her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he won’t be a problem anymore,” Yoongi said, “how do I pay you?” she asked as he placed a piece of paper with the transaction number. “You can pay after I’ve gotten rid of him, just make sure you take care of your daughter and yourself,” Yoongi said, looking at her as she nodded. “Thank you, Min Suga.”
“You said this bastard has been hanging around this strip club?” Yoongi spoke to Jackson as he pointed at the back door. “Yeah, JK has dug some valuable information that Nathan Jones was seen at this club frequently,” Jackson said, pulling his mask on. “Right, so I’ll go and ask the strippers around if they’ve seen him,” he said, walking inside as he looked around before turning his hearing device on. “You know, Mr. Suga that Candy girl of yours is here too–”
“–Jackson, focus on our mission I don’t have time for unnecessary drama, tell me once you’ve found him,” Yoongi said coldly into the earpiece.
Jackson walked around as one of the strippers approached him, he nodded and walked into the room. “Suga, one of the girls told me that Nathan will be here in 6 minutes, be on the watch,” he reported as Yoongi looked around. When he felt someone wrapping their arms around his chest, “Oppa, it’s been a while where have you been?~” The woman cooed, caressing his chest as he turned around to see Candy standing in front of him.
“Candy… I don’t have time to talk to you right now,” He said, walking away from her as he walked past the crowd. “Oppa, you’re no fun,” she said, holding onto his wrist as she leaned in, pressing her chest against his arm as he glared at her.
“Suga, he’s here, he’s the guy wearing the brown leather jacket and in tight ripped skinny jeans,” Jackson reported via the earpiece as Yoongi nodded, putting his mask on and pulling out his revolver. Candy quickly backed away from him as he began shooting Nathan several times as everyone in the club began fleeting. “Fuck, who are you?” Nathan spoke, looking up slightly when Yoongi pulled him by the hair before lowering his mask. “Min Suga, however not that it matters because I’m killing you now.” He scoffed before pointer the gun at his forehead as he shot him dead.
“Hello, Taehyung please call our client. I’ve successfully gotten rid of her abuser.” Yoongi said before hanging up as he stood outside of the nightclub. “Where are you going, handsome?~” Candy asked, drinking from her glass of beer. “You should not hang around here, it’s dangerous,” he scoffed slowly walking away as she pulled him by the sleeve. “Did you by any chance break it up with that girl of yours…?” She leaned and whispered into his ear as he turned his cheek to glare at her. “What was her name? Y/N was it?” Yoongi clenched his fist as he began walking away, not answering her questions.
“Jackson, let’s go,” Yoongi said coldly as he nodded, “what about the body of Nathan?” he asked, looking at the back door as Yoongi sighed and opened the door. “I’ll let that fucker rot there, besides I haven’t left any obvious evidence of us there. Taehyung has hacked their CCTV system for us so we’re both clear.” He explained, starting the engine as they drove off to the mansion.
For now, I’m currently staying at Jisoo’s apartment. She had just returned from attending various fashion events in Spain. I had the entire apartment for myself as she was visiting her family in Gyeonggi.
I decided to go to the nightclub “NB1 & NB2” in Hongdae by myself after that horrible breakup with Daniel.
The music played loudly as I shook my hips while dancing to Mommae by Jay Park. It’s been a while since I last went to a nightclub by myself. “Hey, the name’s Chad,” A random guy said, walking up to me as he had his hand on my waist I turned around, lashing his hand away. “Shit, why so feisty?” Chad said as I scoffed, glaring at him. “Fuck off, Chad,” I said, walking away when he grabbed me by the hair I screamed when he looked into my eyes.
“Shit, hasn’t that ex of yours taught you to not cuss?” The crowd around us gasped and backed up as they seemed to fear Chad. “Let fucking go of me, you asshole.” I grit my teeth together.
“Say you’re Daniel’s bitch, right?” Chad chuckled, “he’s been searching for you, have you been hiding from him?” I felt tears form in my eyes as his grip tensed in my hair, “if you play nicely then I promise I won’t tell him where you’ve been staying lately–”
Suddenly I heard Chad groan when he fell to the ground, his grip loosened as I turned around to see a woman with a black blazer, Gucci t-shirt, and tight leather pants stepping on him with her black stiletto heel. “–Oh my, why is it always you that I run into whenever there’s a ruckus in the club, Chad?” She asked, applying pressure on the heel as he groaned. Crap. Seulgi K. and her other bitch… He thought.
“You okay?” A tall woman asked as she wrapped an arm around me as I nodded, “yeah, thanks for saving me you two,” I managed to mumble when Chad glared at me as the woman removed her foot, she walked in front of his head as she crouched down, her silver necklace dangling in front of him as he gasped.
“Listen Chad… If you value your life I’d run away right away now.” She whispered as his eyes widened. “Crap, it’s those bitches…” Chad mumbled before getting up and running away. I looked at her as she patted her lap, “he didn’t touch you inappropriately did he?” The woman asked as I shook my head slightly, “he did but thanks you for sorting him out for me,”
“It’s no biggie, me and Seulgi have seen way too many fuckers like him,” The tall woman explained as I nodded, “by the way, I’m Joy and this is Seulgi,” she said, pointing at the woman with the Gucci t-shirt on. “It’s nice to meet you both, call me Y/N,” I said, bowing slightly as Joy smiled. My eyes were focused on Seulgi’s silver necklace, its silver cursive font ‘RV’ caught my attention as it seemed to spell out a brand of some sort.
“You should be careful whenever you’re in Hongdae, okay?” Seulgi said, escorting me to her car. “There’s been a lot of sexual assaults recently in this area,” Joy said, sitting next to her as I nodded, looking down slightly. “Where do you want me to drop you off, Y/Nssi?” Seulgi asked, driving as I looked in the mirror. “Ah, “Yongsan” station, please,” I mumbled, looking at the window. “You seemed quite upset and frustrated earlier…” Joy added as I sighed before explaining that I had broken up with my ex-boyfriend and came to the club to forget about him.
“Wah, that sucks, I’m sorry that happened to you Y/Nssi,” Seulgi said, handing me a box with Kleenex as I accepted it before wiping my tears away. “He’s absolute trash if I ever stumble upon him I’ll make sure to kill him, Unnie,” Joy swore as I chuckled a bit. “Eheh, thanks I’m just grateful that I’m not staying with him anymore.” After some time of chatting and trashing my ex-boyfriend, I felt a lot better. “Say Y/N, next time let’s go to a nightclub or karaoke bar together,” Joy said as the vehicle stopped near the station, “oh I would love that!” I said while getting out.
“Thanks, girls for everything,” I said, bowing my head sincerely as Seulgi smiled, “no worries, we women need to have each others’ backs, here’s my number Y/Nssi,” she said, handing me a red piece of paper with her number on it. “Thanks, you two, have a wonderful night,” I smiled, waving as they drove off as I went upstairs to the 5th floor.
About a month had passed as it was the 1st of July 2020. “Well, I’ll see you guys in about a month, okay?” I said, pulling the handle to my baggage as I looked at Namjoon, Hoseok, Jisoo, and Roseanne. I stood in front of the airport security checkpoint when I looked back at them. “Aww, Y/N and Renjun have fun, okay?” Roseanne crossed her arms and smiled as I hugged her. “Make sure to take a lot of pictures and tell me all about the great memories you’ve created once you’re back again, Y/N,” Jisoo said whilst hugging me softly as I nodded. “Tell your family that I said hi, take good care you two, okay Renjun?” Namjoon said as Renjun nodded, holding onto his baggage's handle, “don’t worry, with Y/N around I know we’ll be okay.”
I looked over at Hoseok as he gave me a big hug, “see you in a month, don’t forget to bring my snacks, okay, Y/Nie?” He chuckled as I nodded as Renjun took a hold of my hand, “come on, Jie or we’ll be late,” he said as I looked at him with a soft smile.
“Alright see you guys, I’ll text you as soon as we’ve landed safely,” I said, putting my sunglasses on when Renjun walked through the checkpoint I took a few steps before waving and blowing kisses to my friends. “Bye-bye,” they all waved as I walked through the gate along with him.
“Heh, I’m going to miss them so much,” I said to Renjun as we stood on the horizontal escalator. “That’s only natural, heh,” he chuckled before leaning in as I placed a small kiss on his cheek. “Anyways, it’s a private jet, right?” I said as he hummed. “Let’s hurry, Lucas and Hendery are waiting for us,” I tugged some hair behind my ear as I sent a text message.
“Hey, Hyejin, we are about to head to the plane I’ll call you once we’re at the hotel.”
I walked to the counter I placed my passport, and they scanned it and let me go through Renjun soon after followed by. “Are you nervous, Jie?” Renjun asked, holding my hand as we looked at the flight of stairs leading to the private jet. “No. Not when I’m with you, Renjun,” I smiled, softly caressing my thumb over his hand.
“Long time no see Ms. Meílíng,” Hendery said, smiling slightly as I walked up and took my sunglasses off. “Likewise, Mr. Wong,” I said, handing him my baggage as he took it. “Hey, Lucas and Yuqi,” I greeted them as she smiled, “Hey, Y/N you look so pretty!” I smiled, sitting next to the window. “You look quite stunning yourself, darling,” I said as Renjun sat next to me.
“Prepare for take-off,” The pilot said. “Thanks for choosing to fly with Way V’s private jet, I’m Qian Kun your pilot, please fasten your seatbelts.”
“Great news, I’ve booked you two a 5 stars hotel in Shanghai, named “Pudong Shangri-La” it’s nearby the Shanghai Tower.” Yugi giggled, smiling as she looked at the window in her office. “Thanks, Yuqi,” I said, putting my phone on flight mode as we were about to take off. “It’s going to be so nice to be away from Seoul,” Renjun exclaimed, rolling his head back as I chuckled and scrolled through Tik Tok on my phone. “Can’t wait to visit my family in Jilin,” he exclaimed as I smiled. “Can’t wait to see my family either.” I giggled, cuddling with him as he smiled brightly.
It’s unbelievable to see myself working with Kunhang and his gang despite the things that have happened between us. But I’m taking this opportunity to gain strength and get back at the Bangtan by teaming up with Huang Xuxi, Huang Guanheng, and Huang Renjun.
“Bye Seoul,” I mumbled to the window, lowering my sunglasses as the jet began to take off.
I blinked before getting lost in my thoughts. Bye, Min Yoongi…

Fated Rantings: Airgetlám
Tumblr media
It's been a while, no? Welcome to my 11th (or was it 12th?) march into the Fate series. Albeit it delayed by covid, I finally saw the second of the two Camelot movies.
I made a small post after watching the first movie but I didn't make my usual long post for it since it was one part of two and because I had little to say.
In fact, some of what I said in that post apply to both films. Such as how the pacing feels a bit rushed, some characters change quickly, and some events are moved around or removed.
However, I can't call these faults with the movies since they're adaptions of the FGO mobile game and do not let the "mobile game" moniker fool you, FGO has novel volumes of text.
Some of it's arcs are even written by the original novel writer Nasu. He may be even more involved than that but my development knowledge on FGO isn't as broad as other series.
All that you need to know is that there was no way to compress that full Singularity into a movie just as there's no way to compress FGO into a full anime.
The one FGO anime that does exist just covers one singularity in of itself. (Babylonia Front) That is how each entry is.
Tumblr media
So while I won't fault the movies for such things I do still miss certain aspects the mobile text had. Such as the lengths to convince Ozymandias, the hilarious fact that Hassan had beheaded him before the story started, Sherlock Holmes making an appearance, etc.
Instead I'd rather focus on how the movies made story moments full highlights. Such as Arash's sacrifice, it was damn near beautiful. Then you have any scene with Da Vinci in them. There's a fun troll energy to everything she does and I liked seeing it animated.
The glow up of Nitocris also caught me off guard. Her sprite and art in FGO is "eh" but she's downright adorable in these movies...and more powerful than the game gave me an impression of.
I am also glad I got to see at least some of the uneasy tension between Lancelot and Mash. Mash, being possessed by Galahad, Lancelot's son, does not give him any slack. You only see bits of it in the movie but each scene reminded me of the sheer disapproval Galahad has for Lancelot in the game.
For as badass as Lancelot is in legend, for all his power as a spirit, he can't deal with his son and it's amazing.
Tumblr media
I also haven't forgotten other characters such as the Hassan's, the mountain people or even our leads Mash and Fujimaru but I will admit I have little to say about them.
The mountain people are shown little for the novel to movie compression reasons I already covered and the Hassan of the Arm and Serenity are good characters but I do not know what add about them.
I do like their characters thanks to the mobile games context but what you see is also what you get. They are great assassin's and the movie gives them great moments.
It would've been hard for them to compete with the original "Old man of the Mountain" anyway. Hassan, the real one, is legitimately intimidating and I looked forward to every scene he was in.
The way he taunts Gawain with the truth just moments after rendering his powerful holy sword useless. The way he just appears or vanishes, Hassan truly is death personified and you see even more of that ambiance in the game. Even a primordial god (tiamat) comes to fear him.
Tumblr media
In turn, Mashu and Fujimaru are more or less "just there". Mash gets more interaction than Fujimaru but she does not take spotlight. The most significant of her time is in relation to Sir Galahad who had possessed her when FGO started.
Even then Galahad does not physically appear. He'll talk through Mash toward Lancelot but most of the relation is the other Knights realizing (usually in shock) that he is there thanks to Mash's shield.
You wonder why since Galahad doesn't appear in many movies/shows based on Arthurian legend but the short of it is Galahad's talent.
The Fate Galahad reflects his IRL myth, he was the perfect knight. He was nearly uncontested in swordplay, loyalty, and overall skill. He was the only knight to successfully get the Holy Grail, the real one.
In other words, even if just in spirit, Galahad's presence is to be feared. Him opposing knights is also a clear reminder to them that they're in the wrong because they know Galahad's moral compass is flawless.
Tumblr media
Fujimaru felt the most like he was "just there" to me but I expected it in some form since he's just one of the two gender options for the FGO protagonist. A person you're supposed to name and see the PoV of in the game.
I see lots complain about how perfect or "overly good" he can be animated and while I can understand someone finding that annoying I also do not know what they expected. Fujimaru is a stand-in, they took the safe route with him for these films.
Granted, I know some of those complaints are levied at the Babylonia anime which is a bit more fair since it was a full anime production. It's also hard to not feel the flatness of him when you see his opposite, the female option in FGO dubbed "Gudako", being downright chaotic and funny in several Fate productions.
Her appearance in Carnival Phantasm is comedy skit gold and whoever wears her mascot attire in Japan is known for being a chaotic lil shit. I kid you not, look up videos.
And yes, I know that "Fujimaru" refers to both as well as that the male version is often called "Gudao". My point is that our mobile game PoV insert isn't too fleshed out a character nor do they have odd quirks to identify with.
I think this is fine because the two Camelot films aren't about Mash or Fujimaru. No, the true star of these films is Bedivere.
Tumblr media
Knights of the Lion, Knight of the Round
I don't even know what to say about this man to get myself started. He, like most of the round table, is a tragic soul. More so in the Singularity than he is in other versions of history.
The movie didn't mention it but the sole reason this singularity existed, the catalyst for history altering, was Bedivere. Lion King Arthur is a result of Bedivere's actions, not the Mage King or the grail.
This movie also reminds me of the thing that pulled me into Fate to begin with, it's odd but loyal use of Arthurian legend. You may see female Arthur and laugh but do understand that King Arthur and his knights are more faithfully portrayed in Fate than they are most modern western media.
Bedivere is no exception. Everything from his personality to his fake arm are a nod to it. I'm not sure how true it is in Fate's history but the earliest versions of our history portray Bedivere as missing a hand (or arm) and while handsome he was not among Athur's most well known or even skilled knights.
He, however, was the most loyal. Galahad excelled in all areas but most knights matched (if not surpassed him) in one and for Bedivere that was loyalty.
That loyalty is shown in every version of Arthur's myth with his death. Bedivere was the one at his side when he died and he was the one that thrice approached the lake to return Excalibur.
It is also here where this version of Bedivere failed, in the final moment he was not loyal.
Tumblr media
He could not accept Arthur's death and did not return the sword as instructed. That single act altered history and doomed it because Arthur was not by her tree when Bedivere returned.
He knew that Excalibur made her ageless & immortal but he didn't know that her holy spear Rhongomyniad did the same thing. By denying her Arthur's destined death she also held onto the spear and became a wandering spirit.
You see, the thing about gods in Fate is that many were originally something else before human faith and worship elevated them into a god. What Bedivere had no way of knowing is that centuries of wandering with a holy spear would eventually turn Arthur into a god or "divine spirit".
And this is more tragic than you can fathom because gods in Fate do not comprehend humanity. They are affected by it but they do not think on the same level and what they deem rational a person will not.
The great sin Bedivere committed here was rob King Arthur of her human heart. Something that her subjects already doubted that she had.
A good deal of Bedivere's guilt is see in the two movies as he realizes what exactly he has done.
Tumblr media
He already felt guilt before the movies started and he was already warned by Merlin that the end of his journey would be rough but he didn't realize the extent of those words.
He, now ageless due to Excalibur, spent 1500yrs looking for Arthur hoping to apologize. A truly grueling punishment within the Fate series because souls, like bodies, degrade.
Your "essence" will go back to "the root" when you die but a soul can degrade overtime if left clinging to the mortal plane. For many, this results in their mind breaking and going mad.
Even the gods only thrive as long as the civilization that believes in them does. Nothing is eternal and that is the lesson Bedivere had to learn in the movies.
That's why I say that he is the star of this story. Over two films he has to learn that everything ends and that endings have meaning. Something doesn't just vanish when it's over.
He could not accept that Camelot was over or that Arthur was meant to be over.
Tumblr media
Idolism
For many reading this you probably ponder "why?" but the movie also answers there albeit it in spurts. The best window into his loyalty and guilt is seen in how he reacts to the other knights.
Many of them look down on Bedivere even if they also praise his loyalty to the king to the point that him standing against the Lion King shocks them.
Even then, they see Bedivere as beneath them. Mordred especially chides Bedivere harshly for weakness. But what's telling is his words and replies to them, especially Mordred.
Bedivere looks down upon himself. Even after 1500yrs he does not understand why Arthur made him a knight when he's essentially just a normal person.
He was not blessed by faeries, he did not have a holy sword or other magical weapons...in Fate. Irl he supposedly had a magic spear but Fate seems to have forgone that.
In Bedivere's mind he's outclassed by the Knights of the Round in every possible aspect. Even his loyalty, the thing that the other knights were say he's best known for, is lacking in his eyes.
That does not mean Bedivere is a depressed or self loathing individual either...well originally. He's very harsh on himself in the movies for what he's caused but there's no indication he was that way originally.
Tumblr media
He was truly at a loss as to why Arthur made him a knight and fully believed himself inadequate for the role but worked his hardest anyway.
This eventually put him in the pitfall that nearly everyone fell into, they idolized Arthur. All of the knights in the movie have flaws in their logic due to their idolized views and it's reflected in their words and oath to the Lion King.
Mordred & Agravain are possibly the biggest victims of this mindset but they're a topic for another day. What is unique here is that Bedivere wanted to see Arthur's true smile or see her drop the ideal king act.
This was not for any grand or selfish reasons Bedivere just wished for his king to be happy in a sense. Ironically, he too only ever saw the perfect king and could not let them go.
Even at the end of the movie I wonder if he ever truly understood Arthur. Because when I saw the film, the flashbacks, I didn't just see the tragedy of Bedivere's quilt and choice but I saw what Arthur saw.
Tumblr media
Personally, I think that Artoria valued the normalcy of Bedivere. He truly was not blessed by faeries, heaven, or by magical blades. He was a guy that tried his best and he saw things the way a normal person would.
I can't say to what extent of course but I do think she saw true value in what he saw as shortcomings with himself.
Either way, these movies are truly beautiful and what makes them so isn't just the animation or OST but the tragedy that is Bedivere.
Tumblr media
Other Knights and Conclusions
As said earlier, Mordred is a topic for another day and I've already talked about Lancelot in my Fate Zero post. In fact, the Lancelot here seems either loyal in spite of what happened to Guinevere or because of it.
Had the other knights not referenced his betrayal I'd have assumed he was summoned lacking those memories.
And I haven't read the 'Garden of Avalon' novel to truly know about the whole round table. Let alone Tristan who is infamous for the line about “The king does not understand the hearts of men.” which is misinterpreted.
Not in the sense that it's mistranslated but in the sense that how people took his words both in-story and out were not his intented feelings.
And I know next to nothing about Gawain in Fate other than he, like many, was a child of Morgan. Much of the chaos in Camelot was either direct or indirect thanks to Morgan's relationship to her children.
Tumblr media
Agravain is a fascinating case study due to his nature. He famously hates women despite his king being a woman and it's thanks to his relation to his mother Morgan.
A trait he shares with Mordred oddly enough. Both have a complex relationship to Arthur based solely on how their mother warped them.
You can also see Agravain's dynamic with Lancelot in the movies. There's a disdain there and Lancelot is quick to suspect him despite being a betrayer. This is presumably due to Agravain exposing Lancelot's affair in life.
It is also due to people misreading Agravain's intent. He often appeals to Arthur's kingly or inhuman side and many assumed he was trying to run a shadow kingdom but Agravain was just trying to help his ideal king the best way he knew how.
He, to the disbelief of many, is actually very loyal to the king and country. His actions and feelings are just complex due to his hatred of Morgan and women compounded with his ideal king being a woman herself.
One day if I manage to read the novel I may come back to give Agravain a proper post since he fascinates me.
Tumblr media
For now though I think I'll stop and focus on the Mordred post while it's fresh in my mind.
I can't really think of anything else in-depth to add. These movies are amazing, especially if you view it as Bedivere's story more so than an adaption of Fujimaru's.
The animation is godly and the scene of Bedivere returning Arthur's sword and her heart/memories with it is beautiful. The music is beautiful.
The OST for that scene is 'walk by' btw. Go give it a listen, bye now~
