OnS Analysis & Theory - Shinoa’s character & the Forgotten Depth of the Root Problem (Chapter 118 & 120)
Hello everyone, after slacking for quite a time and pondering whenever to continue or not, @black-sapphire57 (thank you for always giving me that push to continue!) Let’s talk about one thing the fandom, or rather part of the fandom that is more focused on two characters got triggered about.
P.S: Theories are held within a neutral view and ships are excluded
Shinoa as a character has been popping less in terms of how right now the screen time has been focused for quite several chapters about the past of Mika and Yuu; and of course, there are two things I’d love to discuss.
1. The oh so called love confession
Under the most popular insight, we have chapter 118 on which after a long battle between Asuramaru and Yuu; ultimately Yuu wins, of course, in the outside world, it seems more akin that he’s dying and we have that famous panel on which Shinoa cries and begs for Yuu to stop.
Tumblr media
Image taken from Chapter 118
One of the things many people gave insight was that ShInoa was confessing her love to him, that she was pouring her emotions to see what he’d say; but, is that really the case? Is that a fact?
In fact it’s not. Why? Is it a delusion? Is it a denial?
The answer is actually more simple that what it seems like and it retorts to something more primal and common which in fact, we tent to experience a lot as human beings in general, what could it be?
Correct, the fear of losing someone we love and care about.
This is something the manga portrays so much, everyone fights to protect what they hold dear even if they have to do wrongs or even if they have to go towards a path of self destruction but, the thing all characters fear is losing someone forever.
The connotation here or rather the scene that takes place is that Shinoa finally found a place she could call home and a group of persons she could label as family, and of course, the one who taught her that was Yuu no less. But why did she tell him to leave without her?
Shinoa knows pretty well that Yuu’s destiny right now is sealed in stone; she knows that the further he dives into the abyss, the further he’ll ever reach the light of the sun. This means, she’s aware that Yuu’s life is a stake and this is well known since chapter 72:
Tumblr media
Image taken from chapter 72
And that is something certain, Shinoa is aware that the constant abuse of power only fractures Yuu’s body; the issue with chapter 118 reflected the fear of seeing someone she cares about to fade forever.
But why do I refer this to something primal or normal among humans?
When the bonds forged with time shatter due to the unexpected death, the first thing that comes is denial, pain, sadness, grief and ultimately pleading for the person to not go. A wish for a miracle is the factor that people seek. In Shinoa’s case, despite her being in love with Yuu, her wish is to see him alive instead of dead.
But now, let’s talk about another interesting point that triggered the fandom.
2. Shinoa’s resort of killing Mikaela
Tumblr media
Image taken from Chapter 120
Something rather doubtful to some extent considering that Mika is a demon, The only way Shinoa could actually kill Mikaela would be literally taking away Yuu’s cursed gear which, considering the huge gap of power between both, it’s close to impossible that this scenario happens.
Therefore, why did she state that? Is it as how the fandom says that she’s angry Yuu rejected her?
No, this doesn’t even involve sentimentalism or romantic feelings,
What do I mean?
For that, let’s make some memories, who is Shikama trying to resurrect? Who is Yuu trying to resurrect mainly?
Of course, Mikaela.
Tumblr media
Image taken from Chapter 113
Chronologically speaking, this takes place way before the vampires were a thing; it was a moment on which it was only Yuu, Shikama and the corpse. How can I say that? Do I have proof? I do.
One of the small details that the chapter gave insight of, is that the time the conversation took place was back when vampires weren’t even a thing; it was a time on which the journey was only about Shikama and Yuu trying to resurrect the corpse of Mikaela. It is the first path on which Shikama finds out he needs “SACRIFICES”.
Eventually population would rise and he’d have his apostles who would later see Yuu as the “sacrifice” to bring back Mikaela back to life:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Chapter 106
Indeed, in order to bring Mikaela back to life, Yuu must be the sacrifice.
Though, there’s one big issue and detail that many might have forgotten, what could it be?
Correct. Shikama’s plans have changed ever since chapter 103:
Tumblr media
Image taken from chapter 103
Therefore, what’s Shinoa actually trying to say with “even if I have to kill Mikaela”?
If Mikaela’s resurrection were bound to happen; first of all:
-Humanity would be further punished, which is something confirmed by the Progenitors for sure
-Second, all this “planning out something from Yuu for the greater end or killing and we’ll revive them later sounds quite interesting that he is so confident that his idea will happen” but, there’s just a tiny huge detail that seems to elude everything and that is him of course:
Tumblr media
Image taken from chapter 117
Despite Yuu being free of the supposed shackles from the First Progenitor and to some extent having his own authonomy, Shikama found it ironic and funny:
Tumblr media
Image taken from chapter 117
In the ultimate case Yuu manages to resurrect Mikaela, there are two questions that linger in the air since there’s nothing certain towards Yuu’s fate.
1. Once Mikaela is brought back, who’ll be the one waking up?
2. Will you die or will he become a source of power? After all Shikama’s plan does involve keeping them together for such goal.
In the ultimate case Yuu’s life would be endangered to be used and Mikaela Hyakuya would disappear and the one being brought back was the Son of Shikama, then it would be logic for her to say that saving Yuu is a priority even if it means killing Mikaela.
Another theory awaits, hope you enjoyed this analysis and theory dear readers, feel free to share your thoughts, after all, there are topics to discuss.
The lostsoul is back.

Weekly Recap | March 11th-17th 2024
Tumblr media
That premiere guys!!!!! Was so good!!!!! I'm so excited to be FINALLY be a part of the fandom while the show is actually airing! 😃 Can't wait to read all the amazing fics that are gonna be spawned from season 7!
Speaking of that, I would like to encourage everyone to use the relevant Ao3 tags when writing fics based on S7 content! Not everyone can watch the episodes as they air, so tags are really essential for people who don't want to get spoiled! (I could even make a separate post about it? a sort-of "how to tag" post?). In case you want to block some tumblr tags, my main tags for S7 are #911 season 7, #911 on abc, or #911 spoilers.
(Posting this one day early cause I don't feel like waiting until tomorrow! Enjoy! 😆)
Complete
i find peace in your smile by goforeddie/@iltrpls (A/B/O AU | 1K | General): They’ve been courting for a few months now. It’s agonizingly slow, but it’s still the best time they’ve ever had. You might think that after six years of walking on eggshells around each other, half a decade of “will-they-won’t-they” they wouldn’t be taking such a slow time with courting, but it's precisely everything that they’ve been through that makes them appreciate things a little better.
Birthday Flowers by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Pre-Buddie | 2K | General): OR: Buck gets Eddie flowers for his birthday.
🔥 if i need to rearrange my particles — i will for you. by dylaesthetics (Post-S6, Identity Porn | 45K | Teen): OR Buck joins a support app for first responders and matches with a firefighter who has PTSD and a kid who likes giraffes, apparently.

take the bed warmed by the body by lecornergirl/ @clusterbuck (Getting Together | 2K | Teen): It’s three parts bravado and one part reminder. He thinks about it, sometimes, his first shift at the 118—he doesn’t think either of them quite knew how much they’d meant it when they’d promised to have each other’s backs. He definitely hadn’t known, then, that he’d wake up one day and wonder why Buck isn’t in his bed. Because that’s what’s missing. He has a vague memory of falling asleep with his head resting against Buck’s shoulder, their legs tangled together.
Taken Space by Wildgirl93/ @wildlife4life (S7E01 Coda | 1K | General): Eddie and Marisol talk about the space that has already been taken.
Feel Like I Landed On The Moon by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Canon Divergent | 1K | General): OR: Eddie is pining for Buck while in Texas.
Fractals from the Lightning Bolt by letmetellyouaboutmyfeels/ @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels (One Shots Collection | 98K | Not Rated): A collection of oneshots, some originally posted on tumblr. Each chapter is individually rated.
53. A Dream You've Had Before (Explicit) 54. We're Definitely All Sluts Here (Explicit)

Two, Three Times in a Row by Leslie_Knope (PWP | 6K | Explicit): “We could’ve gone again.” Eddie snorts. “I’m old. You expect me to get it up twice?” “Yes,” Buck says, like it’s a given, like duh. “I could get you to do it right now.” The entire world pauses, and Eddie actually feels it, the bolt of arousal slinking down his spine all the way to his toes. He wets his lips. “Right now?”

🔥 miracles under your sighs and moans by napricot (Sex Pollen, PWP | 1/2 | 13K | Explicit): When Eddie gets exposed to an experimental aphrodisiac on a call, he realizes there’s only one person he trusts to help him get through it: Buck.
🔥 because we'll all arrive in heaven alive by callmenewbie/ @puppyboybuckley (Post-S6, Disaster Fic | 9/10 | 63K | Explicit): During a search and rescue, Eddie disappears without a trace, leaving Buck to grapple with the sudden possibility of a life without him.

Heyyy I'm very excited for this monster of a chapter and I know that getting Eddie's point of view during chapters 1-21 is going to destroy me. I'm going to be devastated and I'm fully prepared to dedicate a day to it. Do you have a new prediction on the word count for this chapter?? Also you totally dont have to answer this if you want to keep spoilers to a minimum or something but will this new chapter stop once they find Buck or will it go past chapter 21 until they find out what been happening with Wells?? And will chapters 23 onwards be back to Buck's point of view or will it swap between Buck/Eddie/Other povs?? Also I reread chapter 21 like right before writing this and god the Bobby and Buck of it all. The way you've written their relationship SO lovingly I can't get enough of it
Hello. <3
Hopefully we can cap this at 60k.
Despite a good chunk of this is Eddie from earlier timelines, we will definitely go past chapter 21.
Aiming to return to Buck's POV for the next ones, though since this is third person there will also be scenes of the 118 without him. And when this man is K.O.'d, we'll likely spend time with other characters i.e. Maddie &/ Bobby, who are crucial to his recovery.
Speaking of Bobby, thank you for voicing your appreciation for his relationship with Buck in this verse as it is probably my favourite to expand on, I just love this father-son duo in all but blood, same as Buck and Chris. :')

I love Frieren and Himmel's relationship so much and I mean of course I do there's so much to love. An elf that thinks a human's life passes away in the blink of an eye and human that loves her? I'm already hooked. But add into that he doesn't say anything because he knows nothing will come of it with how she views things when he knows her and is content to just admire her for all she is as she is? The fact that she cares for him in spite of thinking his life is so short and getting to know him in the time they were together but regretting not coming to know him better after he died? I mean she's literally following their journey and remembering him along the way and the end destination is the chance to see him again, but I feel like she'll realize she truly know and loved him even if they never reach heaven.
And there's just. So many tiny details. I will try to recount a lot, but I'm sure I won't get all of them.
Frieren remembers so much about him. Regardless of where they go, it's usually a memory about him more than anyone else. She remembers his favorite flower, and takes the time to find it (though she doesn't consider time a least bit rare commodity). And she remembers it, which means that even though at one point she didn't try to learn about her companions, she afterwards made the point to remember their favorite things. And when she talked with Old Man Voll, who was regretting losing his memories of his late wife and asked if she could still remember her companions clearly, she refused to consider that she ever won't. She considers their memories that precious.
And then there's Himmel. Oh my goodness. Beyond just his initial attraction, the way he's always fascinated by her magic and her making enough of an impression on him at a young age that he sought her out years later for such an important quest is delightful. And did I mention that he just loves her magic? BECAUSE HE DOES!! And it helps her to love collecting her weird spells that much more, so good and supportive, Himmel.
And fear not I shan't neglect to mention the mirrored lotus ring because I am incapable of being normal about that scene. He had Frieren choose a ring (my respectful man there where can I get me a Himmel) and when he saw which one she chose he knew what it meant and chose to present it to her in a way that was sure to be memorable to her. Even though she didn't yet know the meaning of it, once she does, she can look back on the memory of him pledging his love eternally to her, an immortal, in spite of his mortality. He may be content to never say it, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't like her to know.
And now I am going to talk about a manga arc that ends on like. Chapter 118/119? So spoilers if you choose to proceed any further.
Frieren has spent so long now working towards seeing Himmel again and then she. GETS TO SEE HIM AGAIN!!! I am certain that if I scoured this arc I could find soooo many details for them (and I am tempted but instead I will focus on a few details that come to mind and analyzing one very specific thing about it.
Just. Himmel saying he likes who she's become, not having any clue that he was a major influence for her becoming that way. I just love that he appreciates her at every stage she's at it's just so uwu. and then when FRIEREN said he's a ray of light??? omg omg omg omg oomg I die they both just see the best in each other and I live for it.
And Then There's The Wedding. If you read this far on this and didn't expect me to gush over this part here is where I disillusion you. Himmel's feelings for Frieren have been pretty obvious up to this point, but seeing that he would in his ideal world want to marry her and spend his life with her is GRAHHHHHHHHHH there's no words to describe it. and like. Frieren is there too? how am I supposed to interpret that but as her own paradise? even if it's as a looser interpretation of she wanted to spend all of Himmel's life with him??? INSANEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee
and then the fact that Himmel had his dreams presented before him, but he felt something was off, and didn't take advantage of it. Not even for a kiss. THIS RESPECTFUL MAN what is there not to like if anyone is good enough for Frieren it is without a doubt him. and the way they work together to get out of it???? oh man I love it
idk I just love their dynamic I think it's great and full of unfulfilled potential and I hope they get something some kind of closure if Frieren really does make it to see him again I just really love thinking about them thank you for coming to my presentation

Analysis of Shigaraki's and Deku's relationship
Tumblr media
I know people say Midoriya and Shigaraki "parallel" a lot [...].
I want to contribute on the subject of "parallelism" and explain, why most people assume that it applies to Shigaraki and Deku.
Contents
Origin
Conviction
Two sides of the same coin
Validation
Redemption
Bakugou's involvement
All Might
[this post is updated irregularly]
(heavy spoilers from here on out)
Origin
Most of it probably stems from this panel from chapter 21:
Tumblr media
The established exposition is as follows: Both super-hero and the greatest villain are in search for a successor to fulfill their legacy. In that sense, Shigaraki and Deku both serve as a symbol for their respective side.
Furthermore, neither is ready to fill in their spot on the front lines of the war:
Tumblr media
They are inexperienced and self-conscious.
Conviction
While Deku is struggling to adapt to the fast paced hero-world, Shigaraki has yet to settle for a position. Both are not inherently accepted in their niche. Stain manifests in Shigaraki's strife to finally gain foothold.
Tumblr media
According to Stain's "conviction", he has every right to condemn Shigaraki. We don't know why in chapter 49, but it is later explained in chapter 419:
Tumblr media
"Destroying the status quo" is what AFO wants Shigaraki to do. He uses the turmoil that stems from his past to guide and shape him.
Two sides of the same coin
In chapter 69, Deku and Shigaraki have their face-to-face talk. Here is an apparent character-development that I haven't seen anyone touch on so far.
Tumblr media
As you can see, Deku completely changes his perspective on Shigaraki. This is because he senses the humanity in Shigaraki, knowing that he has the ability to push through the layers and layers of hatred. Because this hatred is not innate, it is superficial - fabricated by AFO.
Shigaraki has a similar character development, although it being into the opposite direction. He learns to close himself off - distance himself from his past and cast off his human form.
Tumblr media
Validation
Additionally, both of them yearn validation. Izuku wants to be a hero despite not having a quirk; Shigaraki's case is a little more difficult. His conflict is similar to the one that Toga has: Inheriting a quirk that is not level with the "status quo". After he learns that his quirk was granted to him by AFO, he completely breaks down (and ultimately disappears). It is a fundamental betrayal that was artificially created, in contrast to Izuku, who, by forgiving, harvests reconciliation.
Tumblr media
Both were outcasts. Both had their quirks granted to them. (On a sidenote, Shigaraki's itchy skin was probably a side-effect of his body rejecting the quirk.) Both had an idol/savior they looked up to.
Redemption
AFO lures Nana Shimura away from the child he wants to corrupt, occupies her with his own presence and lets the family's wounds fester. Kotaro Shimura can't handle his grief and passes it on to Tenko. He gets killed by his own son without a chance to resolve the conflict with his mother or with Tenko. This is Shigaraki's first step towards isolation.
At the beginning of the story, we learn that Bakugou hates Deku - he even tells him to kill himself. He bullies him from a very young age. It is a shock to Deku when he learns about Bakugou's true feelings. But it also paves the way for his empathy. Since he is able to forgive Bakugou, he can forgive Shigaraki as well.
Tumblr media
(excerpts from chapter 118 and 322)
This in turn enables Bakugou to open up and come to terms with his built up anguish (his involvement in All Might's "death" and his feelings for Deku). Deku functions as the outlet for his anger - truly listening and canalizing the frustration that once granted Bakugou so much potential for friction.
Bakugou's involvement
Bakugou's quirk, as often mentioned, is one that would cause considerable amounts of chaos if not used by the right person. Even his personality resembles that of a villain. His (temporary) only redeeming quality is his will to use the quirk for something good.
When he gets kidnapped, however, he is not easily swayed (see chapter 86 onwards). That is because he believes in himself. Bakugou always wants to be the best - the top of the game. The praise he receives from his social environment as well as the feedback that All Might gets from the public eye cements his ideology.
Contrary to Bakugou, Shigaraki does not have a superiority-complex. The domestic violence fuels his hatred, his helplessness. Only when he experiences self-efficiency and control, he is happy. This is also, why he can't bear that AFO orchestrates his whole life. Even in something as arbitrary as quirk-heritage he has influence.
Bakugou has the freedom to develop however he wants because it is congruent with his environment. For Izuku and Tenko this is not the case.
Tumblr media
All Might
All Might is an important factor in Shigaraki's alignment with society. The latter has witnessed how his family had been left by the heroes to rot and get corrupted by the nature of grief. Where Nana Shimura sought "justice" in nursing her quirk and its successor, she ultimately brought despair to her son. Shigaraki understands that tipping the scales has an effect on both sides (I suspect it's the hand of his father that he is holding in the panel below). So, when he sees All Might, his natural conclusion is that there must be someone he can't save. Therefore, from Shigaraki's point of view, All Might's smile is rather arrogant. To Shigaraki society consists of blind puppets that only see one side of the picture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[excerpts from chapter 69]
Deku, however, has a completely different impression of All Might. He sees yet another perspective of heroism, being that of the hero itself. He gets saved and trained by him, but also learns that he can't be everywhere, all at once. It is their burden and their responsibility to set priorities and safe the ones who need it most. The smile is not meant to be read as a sign of pride or ignorance, it is a symbol. A symbol is a concept, not an action. It tells the tale of a savior, of encouragement, reassurance. When heroes become the symbol of peace, they have to put up with what people expect from them. Concept, expectation and action must be carefully balanced. This is why heroism and justice are extremely fragile.

Owari no Seraph: Why Yuu’s emotions probably aren’t manipulated/Fake *contains major spoilers*
I heard many people brush off Yuu’s feeling towards Mika as “manipulated/programmed” by Shikama Doji or “Survivor’s Guild” and after effects of Childhood Trauma (abandonment issues) but here is what actually speaks against this (I wrote a document file, with a lot of proof if you want to look it up later):
A) Yuu seems to know Mika even before he was dead. In chapter 122/123 we see Mika and Yuu still alive and kicking as angels (Seraph Mika and Cherub Yuu, it’s most definitely him), what proves this would be the to Mika seemingly familiar eye in chapter 106 and the fact Yuu “was created” out of this eyeball. That’s where we get to
B) Yuu wasn’t “created” but is a clone. As we already know from real-life, organs can be grown out of stem-cells or embryos and in Seraph of the end this “embryo” must be the original Yuu’s eye. You can’t replicate something without having the original and if Mika and Yuu were best Friends and together, even before Shikama had to make up this whole plan to revive his dead son, His current feelings and the fact (chapter 85) Yuu even went to the forbidden room, because he was drawn to Mika and didn’t even know he was in there, means they are real and Yuu isn’t programmed to feel that way. They are just remains of the feelings he had towards Mika from his original life.
C) And Yuu said those are his real feelings himself. While everyone is calling him “insane” or “manipulated” by Mikaela and the first, Yuu confirmed he was sane this entire time (Chapter 118) and isn’t doing what everyone says. (Page 34).
I also think Ashera saying “You’ve only ever had eyes for Mika” (Chapter 117) was foreshadowing to the fact, that he literally was an eye and with Mika even before humanity XD Someone also complained about Yuu’s “creepy eyes” from Chapter 113, which exactly look like the eye from Yuu’s original form. They probably weren’t meant as Yuu being a dead puppet, but probably as confirmation, that Yuu is “The Cherub” later on and only saw Mika ever since. You could also say, maybe these Cherubs were created by the first and fallen angels, as part of the Balu project (122) and Yuu was assigned to be Mika’s supervisor, but the first didn’t have his current plan in mind at that time, so of what use would be personal feelings if they could be a hindrance too (Maybe, telling Mika that his life could be in danger because of the project). Yuu’s feelings are 99% the real deal and Kagami, plus everyone involved in the ONS productions, confirmed Yuu’s feelings were romantically too what would go against “just a stupid obsession”.
Furthermore Yuu, was immediately starting to talk about himself going to die, if he can’t have Mika in his life (indirect suicide threat chapter 119) and explained how Mika always has been his reason to live, setting him apart from the rest of his family (Shinoasquad/Akane co.). When his parents abandoned him, Mika was there, when everyone died in the vampire capital, Yuu only lived on because Mika wanted him to and he wanted to get revenge for him and his dead family, when he found Mika again (1st/2nd) Reuinon he lived to protect what’s most dear to him and when losing him a second time, saving Mika was his purpose.
To this “He always lets Mika stand out from the rest of the family” we have A) The “I want to save my family, you’re family too” Mika: “You can’t have both” and Yuu suddenly saying “I don’t care for humanity” and even willing to risk the lives of the other children too, if it meant Mika would be safe. And B) The confusing translation of Chapter 119′s beginning:
“I always thought about myself and my Family” “I just had to save my family” “I just had to save you”, this sentence can be intepreted two ways 1. “I always thought I had to protect my family, but I only had to protect you” or 2. “Since I only have to protect my family, I only have to protect you” either way he is separating his feelings towards Mika from the others, meaning Mika is a special case. And remembering chapter 117/118 Ashera’s and Yuu’s fight, we learned that Yuu’s deepest desire, has not only something to with Mika, but also isn’t just wanting to save him(but this would be Shikama’s plan, so he is already acting out of order), although he only wants to save Mika if he claims, to want to save everyone.  Again there seem to be personal feelings not even Shikamadu expected. The ‘separating Mika’ can be seen as manipulation, but thinking back on that, all Shikamadu ever did, was putting Yuu into a life scarring situation, cloning him and telling Yuu his purpose was Mika, although he won’t be able to remember that at all.
Last thing I actually wanted to say but forgot (sorry I have issues to concentrate, especially if I love the topic) was Yuu’s reaction to Mika and Shinoa’s confession. When he found out Shinoa loved him, he just rejected her, no further comments or reaction. But when Ashera told him, Mika was in love with him, he cried and suffered harder than before. He was already panicking  and in despair because Mika died a 2nd time, but having to hear “he was in love with you”, made it even worse. If it was just fake, an obsession or he was just a brother to him, he wouldn’t have reacted as if he just lost the opportunity to get together with the one he loved since forever or even harder than he already did. (You know what I’m saying? If not just tell me). And after hearing he could save him as demon, he even was all that “what are you doing to *my* Mika?” and randomly calling Mika pretty: “There was an angel that looked like you”, “They look like you, but even prettier”, “See? That’s you”. It almost looks like he’s flirting with him (and I can tell you, I was like that when realizing I was in love with my BFF and she was in love with me, before we got for 3 years separated from eachother and met again XD).
I also think there’s something weird anyways in everyone being scared of Mika’s life and thinking Mika must be sacrificed if humanity has to be restored, but that’s another thing I’ll talk about next time. I was just mentioning it because, that would defy first: Mika being turned into a vampire, as part of emotional manipulation and second: Turning Mika into a demon, if it means him having to perish, although Shika’s plan is reviving Mika.--->https://www.tumblr.com/shiningthundert/711601715786481664/owari-no-seraph-the-weird-thing-of-mika-having-to?source=share
Edit/Addition: I forgot to say that yes, there is emotional Trauma which can shape a child and that also, there's a certain emotional dependency if the last member of the family survived and you always thought they were dead, to the point you also wanted to die, but this same emotional trauma, is what gave them the ability to grow closer and develop a relationship in the first place. Sympathy and trying to be the other's emotional support is what love needs as well and Mika is the only one Yuu has this with. So of course will a shared trauma strengthen their bond, but that doesn't necessarily mean that romantic love needs to develop. However what we know is, Yuu is attracted to Mika (source: Shippingwiki Trivia/Manga/Game/Interviews) and also the feeling he's the only one who understands you, on your side and will do everything to make you happy, that's what most people look in potential partners for and who is more fit for this role, than the one that always gave you a reason to live and you feel attracted to even before humanity and their death itself?
CHAPTER 125 SPOILERS
Edit: Called it, Yuu is the Homunculus and Mika was the one who gave him name and heart. See his hyperfixation doesn't come from nowhere and also isn't manipulated emotions as he was never intended to feel love until Mika gave him his name😆♥️♥️

CHAPTER 118 SPOILERS!!! . . . . . . My thoughts on this chapter: ✰Shikama appearing to little Yuu and telling him he'd meet a "child who'll give his life meaning" reminded me of Shikama saying basically the same thing to little Shinoa in Cat16. Which brings me to my next point... ✰If Yuu's feelings were "manipulated," like Asuramaru is saying, weren't Shinoa's also? And Guren's for Mahiru/vice versa? I'm pretty sure they were all planned to meet too 💀 Nonetheless, whether he was "meant" to love Mika or not, you can't call all they went through a fabrication… those feelings grew and developed on their own. In fact, they make more sense than Shinoa falling for Yuu so quickly and Guren and Mahiru liking each other at five. Their history is real. ✰I feel bad for the squad and their families, but at my core I'm a selfish person who cares more about Mika than the random humans who've been dead since Chapter 1. It would be interesting to see them all resurrected, though. ✰Shinoa, I really hope that this is just the heat of the moment and you actually can live without Yuu because... because yeah. ✰HOLY FRICK YUU SAYING "I've been in my right mind this whole time" AND DEVOURING ASURAMARU, NOT TO MENTION THAT HE DID IT BY SUCKING HIS BLOOD- ON ONE HAND, IT WAS PRETTY COOL, BUT ON THE OTHER… NOOOO ASURAMARU NO!!!! When he thought of Krul and apologized... I felt that... he was my fourth favorite character, y'all... I can't believe this. ✰On a brighter note, it was SO SATISFYING to hear Yuu say he's walking his own path, not Shikama's and NOT GUREN'S!! But let's be honest, this is all probably still part of someone somewhere's "plan"… ✰The way Mika was like, "You're going to do this even though it's not want I want?" yet gave Yuu his power anyway… I'm not sure how to feel. (Half of me is conflicted and the other half is fanbying over the MikaYuu I'm sorry…) ✰HOLY FRICK THAT REJECTION- was that a rejection?!? Or did she react that way because he unexpectedly wasn't going to cooperate with them? It felt like a rejection though… not sure what to make of her verbally responding, "N-No, don't say another word…" Darn Kagami and his ambiguous scenes. Still, Yuu firmly saying "I'm leaving" after Shinoa said she couldn't live without him… even if that specific scene wasn't a rejection, she's rejected. I'm sorry Shinoa. You'll live 🙏 ✰Can you believe Yuu won? Where will he go now? Is the drug still affecting him? How will Krul react to Asuramaru's death? GAH, I NEED THE NEXT CHAPTER, THIS WAS REALLY GOOD!!! (P.S. I read the raws, so the quotes I use are not official)

Celedyn’s Backstory: Extremely Annotated Edition
Tumblr media
Very important disclaimer: while I enjoy deep diving into lore and using it as a foundation to make my own connections and conclusions, my connections are for my own entertainment and should in no way be considered “right.” If you have built different conclusions from the story, I absolutely love what you have done as well and truly, if we are RPing together I will not contradict you or tell you that you are wrong. Referencing canon can make some people feel on edge or scrutinized, but it’s important that while this post may go deep dive into where I pulled these bits of lore from it doesn’t mean my connection is the one true way.
SPOILERS! SPOILERS! BACKSTORY SPOILERS! HE AVOIDS THIS SUBJECT A LOT SO YOU ARE UNLIKELY TO EVER PIN IT DOWN IN RP BUT IT IS STILL SPOILERS!
Regarding Celedyn’s age, while there are a lot of ideas about elven life spans out there, there is lore to support extreme longevity in the Quel’dorei. We had seen multiple examples of elves that were at least in the 2700+ range due to their participation in the Troll Wars (see in game book The Guardians of Tirisfal which is dated at 2700 Before Dark Portal and details historic events that take place after the conclusion of the Troll Wars. (https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Guardians_of_Tirisfal and backed up by Chronicles 1 pg 133) known participants : Anasterian, survived until 22 ADP. Galell survived until some time after 26 ADP. (Per Blood of the Highborne ch.1) Dar’Khan survived until 22 ADP then risen into undeath. (Per Blood of the Highborne ch.1) Liadrin, Lor’themar, Halduron (Per Blood of the Highborne ch.1) Alleria (Per the Warcraft Encyclopedia online entry confirmed canon by Sean Copeland and archived at https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Warcraft_Encyclopedia/Alleria_Windrunner)  survived to the current timeline.
A real obscure pull is the Elven Engineers: survived from establishment of Dalaran (~2700 BDP per Chronicles 1 pg 134) to 22 ADP (“Prince Kael, the other engineers and I helped to build Dalaran's original defenses.” Warcraft 3 secret chapter The Crossing  https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Crossing_(WC3_BloodElf)
Of course all of those seemed really really old until we got Lorash Sunbeam born in Tirisfal Glades (A Good War pg 50) where the Quel’Dorei first landed in 7,000 BDP (Chronicles 1 pg 118) placing his birth prior to their 6,800 BDP immigration to Quel Thalas (Chronicles 1 pg 120 and https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Founding_of_Quel%27Thalas ) and survived to ~34 ADP along with his mother born an undefined time prior to that and survived until the scourge invasion of Silvermoon 22 ADP.
All this is to say that Quel’Dorei have a lot of room for maximum ages. I personally like the headcanon that subsequent generations of Quel’Dorei are less long lived than their Highborne ancestors because it leaves room for people who like a shorter lifespan, but Celedyn is OLD old and much like Alleria who gave birth to Arator in Outland while she was at least in the 2800ish range and is flawless and beautiful every time Blizzard puts her in a cutscene, he does not show it.
Celedyn was a participant in the Troll Wars in that I treat it as a period that all elves were participants. It was a time that they were under so much pressure that complete extinction was eminent (“Clearly the trolls were winning”… “without assistance from Arator, the trolls would soon destroy Quel’Thalas” … “Teaching the arcane arts to the humans could easily lead to disaster. Yet as much as this possibility troubled Anasterian, his own people were facing exctinction.” Chronicles 1 pg 130) and I handle it as a period of martial law where the entire combat capable population was drafted into service with no room for civilians.
In contrast with contemporary Quel’Thalas, even with 90% of the population wiped out in the aftermath of Arthas’s attack we don’t see that same level of desperation. The Horde and the Alliance are sending emissaries courting Quel’Thalas to join them and when Lor’themar sends his letter of acceptance following the Forsaken’s assistance with Dar’Khan; his tone is much more that he is pleased they will not look weak than one of compromising for the purposes of survival. ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=9621/envoy-to-the-horde  and https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23930/letter-sealed-by-sylvanas)
Celedyn has foundational training in magic, which I treat as just having been common in Quel’Thalan schooling and life, but he was not a particularly exceptional spellcaster and he is gentle in nature and cowardly and unsuited to combat. Instead, most of his service during the Troll Wars was as a messenger and scout, where he could take advantage of his talent for running away to find a military unit capable of protecting him.
The elves already knew that arcane magic attracted the attention of the Burning Legion. (“Many of the high elves grew wary of their rampant use of arcane magic, fearing it could draw the Burning Legion to Azeroth once again. Dath’Remar sent his most powerful arcanists to find a solution. Over several decades they built a series of monolithic Runestones around Quel’Thalas’s borders. This barrier was called Ban’dinoriel, or “the Gatekeeper” in the high elven tongue. It would prevent others from detecting the elves’ usage of arcane magic” Chronicles 1 pg 121) (“The shield was tied to a series of monolithic Runestones, relics that prevented the Burning Legion and other outsiders from detecting the arcane magics wielded by the high elves. They also weakened the powers of their enemies, such as the Amani trolls.” Chronicles 2 pg 162)
Ban’dinoriel is a term used inconsistently in lore. It seems to be a blanket name for all of the multiple systems of protection around Quel’Thalas, including the two elfgate shields and the protective monolithic Runestones.
As best I am able to decipher, the First Elfgate is tied to the protection from magical detection, offensive spells, and supression of hostile behavior from animals that surrounds the full borders of Quel’Thalas and is powered by the Monolithic Runestones. When Orgim had Gul’dan dismantle the monolitic Runestone at Caer Darrow, it restored their magic and allowed them to storm through Quel’Thalas. (With the Runestone desecrated, the Horde’s death knights and other spellcasters regained their powers” Chronicles 2 pg 164) Some form of repair may have been done to this barrier or potentially only to the Elfgate itself, because Arthas had to destroy this Elfgate on his march.
An additional barrier around Silvermoon is described as being summoned by magi during Ogrim’s assault and powered by the Sunwell at the time (“Their fire washes over the city but does not touch it, and their claws are repelled by an invisible barrier they cannot break.” “It is the Sunwell,” Gul’dan commented, turning back to take part in the conversation. “The elven source of magic. It gives them immense power.” Tides of Darkness ch 15) by the time Arthas is marching through Quel’Thalas the Silvermoon barrier is supported by a series of mooncrystals and it is also called Ban’dinoriel (“Thus interconnected, the crystals created a field of energy known as Ban’dinoriel - The Gatekeeper.” Arthas: Rise of the Lich King ch 19)
Sometimes the second elfgate is treated as being part of the protections around Silvermoon city and sometimes it is interpreted as part of the protection around Eversong woods that is represented in game by Eversong still being lush and green while the Ghostlands is withered after being burned down by the red dragonflight, but your guess is as good as mine. (“Silvermoon City was protected by a number of magical barriers. Two were the elfgates, which were positioned at strategic points on the main road to the capital. The third and most powerful barrier was called Ban’dinoriel. It was an impenetrable shield that derived its power from the Sunwell.” Chronicles 3 pg 63)
People may have multiple interpretations for what all this means or if one defense superseded another or if there was a continuity error, but for the purposes of this post I will use Ban’dinoriel broadly for all magical systems of elven protection, including any systems that suppress offensive magic and any systems that physically block attacks or invaders, and I will only use Runestones when referring to monolithic Runestones.
Bringing this all back to Celedyn, he previously had a fiancé, Ardoras. Ardoras was what would be presently called a balance druid, an expert on the astral connections between nature and the arcane. His shan’do was one of the creators of the monolithic Runestones and had trained Ardoras to assist with and one day be his successor in their maintenance.
During the Troll Wars the first human mages are trained, and they are wildly talented (“Although the humans lacked grace and subtlety in their castings, they possessed a startling natural affinity to magic.” Chronicles 1 pg 130) but following the Troll Wars, Ardoras was upset with he way the human mages had been handled, that they had been given power without warning and that their elven teachers had taught them how to function as weapons but had not taught them of the risks or offered guidance on defense. He discussed all of this with his fiancé Celedyn and it fostered sedition in the pair as things worsened and the formerly nomadic humans began to establish permanent colonies only to have them besieged by the Burning Legion, still without the mages aware that they were the cause of the attacks. (The Guardians of Tirisfal https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Guardians_of_Tirisfal)
The Quel’thalan druids were particularly sensitive to these assaults. They remembered well the risks that came from unchecked magic, and the choice that the first druid Malfurion had made to banish the arcane affiliated Highborne (To clarify, while the Sundering took place 10,000 BDP, the exile of the Highborne was not until 7,300 BDP and I assume that there were druids trained in that time that due to family ties and other relationships or simply using arcane as part of their own practices; who went alongside the exiled Highborne.) They knew that sharing the exact secrets of Ban’dinoriel’s protection would put the elven kingdom at too great a risk, but they could not stand idly by; and so they decided they would extend the barrier of protection themselves.
They didn’t explain why they had offered to gift an elven artifact to the nearby settlement of Caer Darrow; and the Barov family certainly wasn’t about to question it. In secret they had built another monolithic Runestone, bound it to Ban’dinoriel and delivered it to the island. Unfortunately, they had greatly overestimated the Barov’s capacity for discretion, and soon word of this offering reached the ears of the magisters.
What the druids did not know is that the magi that ruled Quel’Thalas the Council of Silvermoon, were already well aware of the problem and had a solution of their own in mind, one that would allow them a level of political influence over the human kingdom (“Having agreed that they could not prohibit the use of magic, the Council of Silvermoon and the magocragy of Dalaran decided on another solution. Together, they formed a clandestine order to deal with the demonic invaders.” Chronicles 1 pg135) and the druid’s solution of simply extending Quel’Thalas’s protection threatened their ability to monitor and control the human mages that were rampantly growing in both numbers and power.
The Council’s retaliation was swift and succinct. Overnight; magisters capable of manipulating the thoughts and memories of others (See the interaction in the Silvermoon bazaar. https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Priest_Ennas   While some people feel this level of totalitarianism was reflective of Kael’Thas’s reign, it is important to note that Silvermoon was never under his direct rule. After learning Anasterian and the Council had died during Arthas’s march on Quel’Danas, he destroyed the corrupted Sunwell, named Lor’themar his regent and immediately departed for Dalaran and later Outland) were dispatched, the druids of had their minds overwritten, and the history of their contributions to Quel’Thalas were erased (This is meta commentary relating to early concept maps featuring a world tree in Quel’Thalas  https://twitter.com/manaborne/status/1449913597950300162?s=46&t=lRdyqF10RdSWO2uXdPr8Pw that was then downgraded Thas’alah to just being a pretty cool tree, and the original manual for Warcraft II Tides of Darkness saying that the Caer Darrow runestone was placed by Elven Druids https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Warcraft_II:_Tides_of_Darkness_manual#The_Runestone_at_Caer_Darrowwhich was later changed in the Warcraft Encyclopedia to “Elven Magi”)
Celedyn was not directly involved in the creation of the Caer Darrow monolithic Runestone, but he accompanied Ardoras, and he knew that what the druids were doing was in defiance of the ruling powers of Quel’thalas. Shortly after their return to Silvermoon, he came to visit Ardoras late one night after an evening of partying and debauchery and he found his fiancé calm and content and not recognizing him at all. He ran to get help from Ardoras’s shan’do but found that he was calm and content and not recognizing him at all. When Celedyn returned to his own home, he noticed the door was very slightly ajar. He turned around and he started walking and did not stop and that was the last time he saw Quel’Thalas.
Bonus content for people who made it this far and presumably just love obscure citations about druidic presence in Quel’Thalas:
See Emmarel Shadewarden, sent by the Unseen Path to fight alongside Talanas Windrunner against the Amani (“I fought alongside its first wielder, Talanas Windrunner, during an Amani troll incursion.”  https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Rendezvous_with_the_Courier#Notes ) I personally don’t interpret this was the contemporary invasion associated with the Zul’Aman raid. We are told that the bow Thas’Dorah has been passed though multiple Windrunner generations of Ranger Generals (Including Grandmother Alleria her daughter Lireesa, and Current Alleria who refused the title but took the bow then lost it.) and while one may interpret that Talanas passed down the title and weapon while he was still alive and simply survived until the contemporary Zul’Aman conflict where he met Emmarel, I am not aware of us ever seeing elven ascension working that way. Anasterian and Lireesa both passed their titles on when they died and Anasterian is treated as being past his prime while still retaining the title by the time Arthas is attacking. By the time the ZA raid came out, the title of Ranger General had already passed down many generations and I think that is because Talanas was already long dead.
Dath’Remar did step down as LEADER following the creation of Ban’Dinoriel (Chronicles 1, pg 121) but not explicitly as King and the King of Quel’thalas has not been the political leader since the establishment of the Convocation of Silvermoon (“The Convocation of Silvermoon was founded as the ruling power over Quel'Thalas, though the Sunstrider Dynasty maintained a modicum of political power. https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Founding_of_Quel%27Thalas ) I don’t put an upper limit on the start or length of the Troll Wars but it is note worthy that Talanas was declared Ranger General in them; and Current Alleria who is at least three generations removed also fought in them but she was not offered the title of Ranger General until her mother Lireesa died in the Second War (“It wasn't until the orcs allied with the Amani trolls and turned their attention to Quel'Thalas that the Highborne understood the true threat. Many elven rangers--including Lireesa Windrunner, the ranger-general--died in a bloody attack.”  https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Tales_of_the_Hunt#:~:text=Tales%20of%20the%20Hunt%20is,lore%20about%20the%20hunter%20artifacts. ) and YES dear reader that does mean Sylvanas was not originally intended to be the military head and only held the role for 2 decades at the most and maybe that’s why she’s not very good at leadership.
All that is to say I think there’s good lore evidence that for one reason or another the druids of the Unseen Path had some level of involvement in the Troll Wars, maybe as an investigation into the heavy use of Loa delivered by the Zandalari (“tens of thousands of troll fighters exploded from the shadowy forests. Monstrous loa demigods marched alongside the Amani, infusing their troll adherents with supernatural might” Chronicles 1 pg 129)

I’ve been following chainsaw man kinda loosely, but I know the spoilers especially the most recent one
Spoilers btw for csm chapter 118
Anyway I think the next chapters Nayuta’s rules are going to be mostly silly. Just kids rules that are harmless yet kinda fun and they change on the fly as well. I also think that when Asa breaks one, there isn’t going to be some major death fight, most likely Nayuta will still do something silly like order the dogs to jump on her.
However, I do think that in the past, there has been a serious rule broken that caused in the death of someone. I don’t know what, but if Nayuta truly gets upset because a rule is broken, for example a rule like no lying about who is chainsaw man, they’re getting squashed like a bug.
Anyway about that last chapter I wonder what Hakura’s going to do like why was he spying
