I see what you mean with the Andres “arc gap” (different anon btw) but do you think they might have gone a bit overboard in the flashbacks? I truly don’t think that Andres was ooc in the Mint. As you’ve pointed out this is a man who has lost absolutely everything and has nothing more to lose (also him generally being a terrible person + raging misogynist). But in the flashbacks I felt like they sort of dumbed him down in way? (Maybe not him but his character complexity). To me he went from this very complex character who married someone he didn’t love, someone he knew wouldn’t mourn after him just to feed his delusion of ‘enjoying life’ ,not letting death change him and pf course not to be alone- to a character who believed he was genuinely in a great romance, the epitome of love and devotion. A blind romantic who didn’t see the true nature of his feelings, who was deceived by the onset of emotion brought on by the honeymoon phase. Someone who forgot this wasn’t ‘true’. I think there’s a big difference to the two even if the portrayal might look the same. I never thought of Andres as dumb, I don’t think he is but to me he seemed childishly naive in a sense that clashed with what the narrative tried to establish (+ with what Andres himself said e.g. what he said to Martin) I know Andres couldn’t have known that Sergio and Martin would have ended up doing the Bank heist but spilling their top secret plan in such great detail that Tatiana knew both when and where to steal their gold is a bit :/ I imagine he must have told her all this even before the wedding and leaving Martin. I can’t imagine him talking about it after the fact. First of all it wouldn’t have made any sense because 1. the plan was abandoned and trying to impress her with an abandoned plan that is never going to come to fruition wouldn’t have worked and 2. They were already married why would he have to impress her? Secondly and I honestly think so, talking about Martin and their plan would be too painful for him. I think he’d keep thoughts of what he had to give up far away from his mind. Which brings us to the conclusion that Andres spilled the beans very early on. And we know Andres didn’t know Tatiana for all that long before getting married (I can’t remember how long it was said to have been but it didn’t take long lol) So once again I reiterate Andres told a woman he didn’t love, a woman who he at that point probably didn’t even know all too well the master plan he created? And at that point was going to perfect and make happen? Endangering both himself and both Martin and Sergio the people he cared for most in the world? I’m sorry for going on such a long rant and this is all of course just my opinion but what do you think? I understand characters, like Martin for example thinking that way- explicitly saying Andres was in love and blind but when the narrative starts to make it seem like that idk. Sometimes it fees like there’s this huge dissonance between what the character say and what the narrative shows us (mainly Andres)… it frustrates me quite a bit. Hope you’re having a nice day btw I just re-read “Children of the dust” the other day! Impossibly it keeps getting better every time you revisit it anew.
Don't worry at all about the rant, I'm glad you're sharing your thoughts with me. And you have really valid points too. But I do think there is a view point that narrows this gulf. I don't think all of what you've mentioned necessarily dumbs Andrés' character complexity down because I don't think Andrés went from "I'm just enjoying life because I know I will die soon and this is neither the great love of my life nor of yours but what matters is that we're having fun" to "This is true romance and the epitome of my life". To me this isn't what the arc is about.
The first complexity we both mention remains with Andrés until the end. Andrés' "heartbreak" over Tatiana isn't because he believed she was his great love and then she betrayed him. It was because Tatiana betrayed a deal between them and in doing so, she revealed to Andrés facets he would have rather not seen. Even during their breakup, Andrés doesn't go "you were the great love of my life, how dare you do that?" He acknowledges that their love is a light, fleeting thing and that Tatiana was supposed to find someone after his death. But Tatiana didn't and that changes everything, makes the hurt of it much worse. Because even though they were to be together for the remaining months of his life, what Tatiana showed was she didn't even like him enough to tolerate his presence for those few more months. Andrés' relationship was Tatiana, from his side, was meant to be a short passionate thing in Tatiana's life that sure, its ending wouldn't break her, but which would leave a cemented incomparable memory and impression on her; she was to live like a queen, enjoying all the glories of life because of Andrés and seeing all the beauties and wonders of life by Andrés' side, and to even inherit him, and all of those things were to leave her with "nothing will ever be like Andrés." Tatiana throwing all of that in his face isn't hurtful because he was so in love with Tatiana but because she basically said "you're not the man you think you are, you're not the man you promised me you were, and I don't care about you at all to the extent that I would rather leave you all alone now and not even inherit you. This is how boring and unsustainable you are a person to be with." Then left him for his son! Other than the fact that it's Rafael, it's also metatextually pushing Andrés out of the picture before his time. They weren't supposed to be so bored and done with him to want him to depart before his already unfair an untimely death, they were supposed to be so impressed and so infatuated with him and his life that he would at least leave a memory unlike any other behind. Can you imagine how painful something like that would be to a dying delusional man who absloutely did Not need his illusions and self-perception to break apart and release its swarms of rotten cockroaches now?
As for Andrés telling Tatiana his plans, yeah that was stupid af. Just the result of last minute writing that makes the characters bend backwards for plot reasons. But I do think a fun and not inaccurate way to see it is that Andrés is just like That. It wasn't that he was so in love with Tatiana that he had to share everything with, it's just that Andrés is one of the most talkative, self-revealing characters on the show (the reason he remains somewhat mysterious to audiences is that he's just weird and not everything he says is easily understood lmfao) but Andrés reveals a shit-ton about himself all the time. Especially when it something he's proud of. Andrés was so, so in love and infatuated with the plan. And you can tell from all season 3 to 5 how excited, eager, and proud he was of everything regarding this plan. Andrés isn't an idiot, no. But mix the emotional vulnerability of sex and sharing a bed with someone you at least really like and that you believe loves you ("She's totally in love," Andrés says regarding Tatiana the first time he speaks about her), and he's so involved with something that he loves so deeply and is so proud of, it's only natural that he would speak about it, only human. Sure, it might go against his logic, but who acts according to their own logic 24/7? Sure, the show took it so far for stupid plot reasons, with Tatiana knowing all of the tiny details years later and all, but at least a part of it makes sense to me.
I'd also say, one of the most interesting (and heartbreaking) parts about Andrés to me is that despite being a man who's seen a lot of terrible things and isn't really lacking in factual knowledge of what life can really be like, is still someone with an inexplicable sense of naivity to me. Andrés is really, really smart but he's also someone who's always one step behind especially when it comes to people. He can't tell when someone is showing him actual respect or making fun of him (nearly all interactions with the banda), there is a pretty large disconnection between what he thinks people see him as and how they actually see him. It's not total childish naivity or him being dumb, but just a sense of dissonance. Like he always plants the seeds of shit happening to him then showing actual, genuine surprise for those things happening and it's a consistent enough trait that I don't think it waters down his complexity at all: Andrés provokes Sergio to hell and back with Monica' situation, intentionally pushing him to lash at and hurt him, and when Sergio does do it, Andrés shows genuine hurt and surprise. The same thing with his son. And the same thing with Tatiana.
Hope you're having a great day, too. And ah! So happy to hear that. Makes me so glad that you're rereading it and that it makes it even better for you!!

Diety4Diety Roleplay [M4M, Discord, LONGTERM, Semi-lit to Advanced-lit, We Will Change the Plot as Need-Be to Better Suit You and Your Character!]
Heyo, I’m looking for someone interested in writing a high-fantasy story! I'm looking for romance and eventually a cute little family dynamic for our characters. As said in the title, I'm searching for a long-term writing partner, so if you want something different, please ignore this post. I want a roleplay that I can make part of both of our character’s original (or canon, if you will) stories. Not just me, either; I’d like for both of us to want similar things like that! It can be hard to find a roleplay partner who you really click with, and I have found that when we chat OOC alright, we look forward to the writing itself more! No, I'm not looking for anything romantic with my RP partners. I didn't know that this was something I had to clarify, but apparently it is. With that said, I don't typically write well with those who are dry texters OOC. I’m not trying to be harsh or rude by any means, but as someone who already has a difficult time reading tone over text, dry messages don't make it any easier. Besides, it’s nice knowing when someone is equally as excited as myself about writing a story! Along with that, please be up for actively planning out the plot with me! There’s nothing worse than the plotting being one-sided. Now, I'm not too nitpicky about this; as long as the effort is there, that’s all that matters. Putting zero effort into developing the story, versus genuinely coming to a blank, are very different! I can be indecisive on certain things as well, and I don't expect you to be perfect. Everybody has their flaws, myself absolutely included. I want to add that sometimes I chat differently! Honestly, it depends on how you text me. Generally, I’ll occasionally use emojis, but I stick with emoticons and tone tags! The tone tags are probably the ones I use the most; I’ve got anxiety and sometimes worry about coming off the wrong way in a text, so I just like to be clear!
For my rules and big “no”s, it’s honestly just pretty basic things that shouldn't need to be said. However, I don't want my post to get taken down, so I’ll just clearly list those things in DMs. It’s insane how I’ve learned that I do, in fact, need to clarify these types of things. I’ve been role-playing for a good while now, and had to figure out all of that the hard way. Another “no” from me is characters who are built solely for sexual roles. I don't want to write with a character who’s whole personality is about being a bottom, or even a top. There’s a big difference between an angsty character, and a whiny character. So yeah, no whiny, helpless, infantilized characters, and no characters who are “alpha-males.” One more thing is people who are overly strict about their OCs being hurt. I understand it’s common courtesy not to give somebody else’s character major injuries without warning; I always ask before I do something like that. But please keep in mind that you can expect fighting and death scenes in this story! When I write, I go over the discord text limit and usually send two to four messages, depending on how much you give me to work with, and how action-dependent the current scene is. My biggest pet peeve is bad grammar and punctuation in the roleplay. Mistakes are fine, of course, but constant run-on sentences or poor grammar make it hard to enjoy the story. As for character face claims, AI “art,” stolen art, and real people are massive “no”s from me. First of all, I hate AI and anybody who supports it; as an artist, it’s annoying seeing people call themselves “artists” for putting a prompt into a generator that steals from actual artists. Stolen art is another obvious “no,” and it should go without saying. Real people as face claims weirds me out, and it also feels lazy; taking a photo of a random person from Pinterest and calling it an original character design is odd and lazy. What I’m fine with for face claims is artwork or commissions. Hell, even picrews as a substitute are fine until you’re able to get real art! As long as the genuine effort is there, I'm good with it. I understand it likely sounds pompous for me to expect artwork for your character, but I promise you I’m not looking for skill, just effort. On the topic of art, if I'm enjoying the roleplay and have good motivation, I’ll probably make doodles (and memes, of course) of our characters as well! Just a side note: yes, I am looking for eventual N/SFW scenes as well! As long as the timing is appropriate, and it’s not an excessive amount or too often, it’s totally fine.
About my character; My guy is an elven fertility god named Ruven. He’s caring and kind at heart, but also emotionally guarded and distant from others. Really, he’s a bit shy and gets flustered easily, as stoic as he is. Ruven is a big ol’ hefty man, standing at about 6’2” and weighing 220 lbs. He’s albino and has curly hair down past his waist, as well as many cultural tattoos from a fantasy face of mine. I will say right now, he’s Desi, about thirty billion years old, has many adult kids (sounds like a lot until you think about how old he is. Don’t worry, he hates all of his past partners now.), as well as two young children, and is a transman. I’ve had people who ended up being hateful because I didn't clarify that sooner, so I'm saying it now. He also has a rough past, which could have possibly triggering themes (SA, DV, abuse, forced marriage, child death, and derealization). Along with that, I have a fantasy homebrew world that we could use as a setting! My guy is native to a country called Sahknu, where beauty standards define one’s status and wealth. Seeing as Ruven is so pale, he’s considered very ugly for people in that kingdom which has led to him struggling a bit for money. Why is a god, the keeper of the universe’s moons, financially ruined? We’ll get to that soon!
Now for the plot! This is just a general idea, and we can make changes to fit your preferences and character. There will be romance, action, drama, and angst! For this, I’m kind of going with the idea that your character is maybe a fellow god in disguise, or possibly doesn't even know that they're a god. Amnesia tropes are always fun here! Whatever describes your character best! Seriously, I’m not going to be upset about you wanting something different! We can make changes to accommodate to your guy. Anyhow—Ruven and your character have known each other for a while now, and even though he’s been dreadfully slow to open up, he’s been a nice man. So far, he’s managed to skillfully avoid any questions wanting him to disclose personal information about himself. The best that YC has gotten is a little ramble about his two young sons, and a comment saying that ‘I’m a lot older than you think.’ The two boys themselves are named Alastair and Lavan. Alastair seems to be about six years old and is clearly adopted, seeing as he shares no resemblance to his father. Lavan, however, is only a baby and shares his dad’s trait of albinism! The older boy is enthusiastic and outgoing, often happily bringing YC many self-made drawings, while the younger is the type to start wailing if Ruven isn't holding him. To cut to the chase, Ruven is only blending in amongst the mortals because he is on the run from his ex-husband, god of the sun and fire. This man, Silas, is a cruel and sadistic person out for blood. He’s arrogant and has zero empathy for the people around him, nor for anyone who may stand in his way on his path to revenge. He will absolutely try to kill YC out of blind rage as soon as he hears about their feelings for his ex, so you can expect a fun fight scene there! See, Ruven divorced him rather harshly, and he wants nothing more than to get back at him. By “harshly,” I mean that he tried to kill him. Silas isn’t exactly the type of person to handle that kind of news well, so he needed to take drastic measures to avoid being put into danger. The sun god is not someone who’s above imprisoning and torturing the ones he “loves,” so Ruven simply didn't want to go through those things again, seeing as he’s done such in the past. He used to be a kind, gold-hearted man until he was overcome by jealousy and greed. Ultimately, that’s what led to his downfall, and Ruven’s ever-growing hatred for him. Silas is quite literally hunting this man down. At some point, he’s going to come storming into whatever place Ruven and YC are in, raising hell, and making a scene. He’ll hurt and kill people, and it’ll lead to some big fight between the three characters. This part is a little more flexible—maybe Ruven is the one who is hurt and needs to be helped to safety, or maybe YC is the one! That comes down to your personal preference because I frankly cannot decide. Either way, they narrowly escape from Silas. Now that he’s angry and hunting down both Ruven and YC, they’ve decided to simply travel together while finding elsewhere to hide. Along the way, both characters can open up to one another and be there for support. Sooner or later, they begin an official relationship, maybe even consider marriage and building more family between the two of them. Just keep in mind that they’re going to be traveling for a good while, and I mean a while. I'm not trying to rush this whole family and marriage trope, just summarizing it in a way that sounds rushed, haha. Just as things are finally getting nice, they run into Silas again, and he’s even more angry than before. He’s jealous of their happiness and is intent on finishing the fight this time. Luckily for our two protagonists, they win! They kill him, one way or another, and then live their happy lives. After that, we can continue adding on things to continue the story! I'm always open for ideas!
Please let me know if you’re interested, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

some follow-up thoughts on BnHA 306
mostly Deku angst, but also a little Baku angst (and some TodoBaku angst) mixed in for good measure. because there’s plenty of angst to go around.
1. “if I’d only been stronger...”
I’ll talk more about Deku later in this post as well, because there’s definitely plenty to talk about; this is the most character development he’s gotten in almost 200 chapters. but for starters, I want to discuss the possible parallels between Deku’s current character arc, and what is arguably the most iconic moment of angst/character development in the series.
Tumblr media
remember how this kid, who up until this point had rarely seemed to give two fucks about the world around him, suddenly revealed that he blamed himself for being the downfall of All Might? remember how it came almost out of nowhere? how he’d been hiding it, and trying to suppress it? “but even if I try to forget... sometimes it all just comes rushing back.”
yeah. so anyway, I got to thinking -- if being the cause of one hero’s downfall could affect someone this badly, what about being responsible for the downfall of all heroes?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what if a boy who wanted nothing more than to keep people safe suddenly found himself at the epicenter of a disaster that killed hundreds, possibly even thousands of people?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now obviously, this is not the sole thing that’s troubling Deku right now; this kid has a whole array of traumas as of the War arc. like, you know it’s bad when Society As We Know It Coming To An End Partially Because Of You is the least of your problems. but still, I think this is worth bringing up, because the hero kids blaming themselves for things that aren’t their fault is hardly anything new. and yet, what with everything else that’s been going on -- all of the Todoroki drama, and Vestige revelations, and hospital antics, and political strife -- I feel like it’s easy to forget or overlook this little detail.
the fact is that AFO put this entire plan into motion solely in the hopes of finally obtaining OFA. every single thing that happened at Jakku -- Tomura powering up; Machia waking up and going on his rampage (after being ordered to do so by Tomura); and even Dabi/Touya choosing this moment to finally strike (because he knew this was when the reveal would do the maximum damage -- when people’s faith in heroes was already wavering) -- every last bit of it can ultimately be traced back to AFO’s desire to steal OFA. which, obviously, makes it AFO’s fault, not Deku’s. but then, Kamino wasn’t actually Katsuki’s fault either. it wasn’t his fault the villains went after him (but he blamed himself anyway), and it wasn’t his fault that people got hurt in the ensuing battle to save him (but he blamed himself anyway).
just. I think we’re underestimating just how strong of an impact all of this likely had on Deku. we haven’t really had the chance to see him process it yet. he’s been too busy, and there have been too many other things going on. but I’m telling you guys, that empty look in his eyes in the final page of the chapter? I can all but guarantee you that at least some of that emotional weight is coming from this.
sure would be nice if he had a friend who knew exactly what that was like, and could help him process the guilt and all of the other associated emotions, just like Deku once helped him. unfortunately I’m not so sure things will be that easy this time around. anyways though let’s move on to a couple of other thoughts and speculations.
2. “...and I bullied him.”
one of my least-favorite BnHA fanfic tropes is the one where the rest of class 1-A somehow finds out about Katsuki and Deku’s history -- i.e. that Katsuki bullied Deku throughout most of their childhood. mind you, it’s not the concept itself that I dislike; it’s mostly how it’s used. a lot of times it’s just an excuse to have all of the other kids turn on Katsuki and ostracize him; either because the author thinks that’s what he deserves, or else so that Deku can eventually come to his rescue and defend him and shame the rest of the class for not seeing how much he’s changed. either way, it’s usually pretty awkward to read, and more often than not the characters are pretty OOC (especially Ochako and Todoroki).
however! there’s a big difference between fanfic and canon, and just because I’m not a fan of this trope in the former doesn’t mean it couldn’t be executed well in the latter. and lately I’ve been thinking about this a lot. mainly for three reasons:
the recent (can we still call it recent?? well whatever) scene where Katsuki confessed to All Might that he used to bully Deku is now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and proof that this can be executed well.
both Todoroki and Deku have finally had their respective big secrets revealed to the rest of the class. so like, idk. feels like it just might be secret-revealing season now, you know?
and lastly, as a result of Deku’s secret about OFA finally being revealed, the rest of 1-A now either knows, or can extrapolate, that he used to be quirkless.
and from there, I feel like it’s not all that hard to put two and two together with how terrible Kacchan and Deku’s relationship was when they first started at UA. that’s not a terribly difficult puzzle to solve. so I feel like it might come out anyway, and if so, I’d prefer Bakugou telling them himself, and taking responsibility as part of his atonement process. because we know that he regrets it. we know their relationship has changed. we know that he has changed. and so I think I might like to see this.
alternately, if confessing to the entire class is too much, at the very least I could see him confessing to Shouto, because I’ve always felt like this was one of the big things that made Katsuki so resistant to letting Todoroki call him a friend. because I feel like there’s a part of Katsuki that saw the parallels between Endeavor’s abuse of Shouto and his own bullying of Deku, and thought, he wouldn’t be so quick to call me his friend if he actually knew the truth. and so there’s actually been this roadblock wedged between them this whole time that Shouto doesn’t even know about. because Shouto hates Endeavor. and so it’s not such a leap to assume he’d hate Katsuki too if he knew just how terrible he’d been to Deku when they were younger.
not that I think he actually would! actually I don’t think either of those things is actually true (because Shouto clearly doesn’t hate his father either, in spite of everything that’s happened). but the point isn’t what I think -- the point is what Katsuki thinks. and I really do think there’s a good chance he’s worried about Shouto hating him, and it’s one of the things that’s made him so reluctant to accept his friendship. anyway, so I’m really just rambling now, but you get my point. I don’t know if this is actually going to happen, but it’s a scene I would like to see if Horikoshi decides to indulge me.
3. “...so when you wake up, please give him my best.”
Tumblr media
and now, as promised, back to Deku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ngl guys, when I first saw this image, my immediate thought was that Gran must have died. because I mean, hello, leaving U.A.?? donning himself in his teacher’s old cape?? empty, exhausted look in his eyes?? what else were we supposed to think lol.
but maybe that was an overreaction. because when I think about it more, Gran’s death isn’t strictly necessary in order to push Deku over the edge. first of all, there’s already the whole “hero society is in ruins now because of you” thing I mentioned earlier. but also, there are just so many other things. like, let’s just list them here because omg. what a rough couple of days this kid had.
he was forced to battle TomurAFO and was terribly injured in the process (most of which was his own fault, but he wouldn’t have gone that far with OFA unless he felt like he had no choice)
and it wasn’t just him that was injured, either. in fact, even though he tried to act as bait to keep everyone else safe, he wasn’t able to stop three of the people closest to him from nearly being killed right before his eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and of course that last one was especially traumatic, because it was Kacchan, and because he had to watch Kacchan nearly die just to protect him. out of all the things that Deku witnessed in this arc, this might be the one that had the biggest impact on him
he was also basically helpless to do anything to protect Shouto and Endeavor when Dabi showed up. so again, we have this running theme of people he cares about being hurt and him not being able to save them
and he also got sucked into the OFA Interstellar Dream Vortex for a brief spell during the battle, during which he learned that AFO had possessed Tomura. more importantly, he learned that Tomura was Nana’s grandson, a fact which was only briefly touched on during that scene, but which I think wound up being the trigger to the whole avalanche that ended with Deku leaving UA. but more on that in a moment
anyway so just to wrap this all up, the battle eventually ended, Tomura got away despite all of their efforts, and then Deku wound up comatose in the hospital for two days. which brings us to the most recent chapters, during which
Deku learns that he will be the last wielder of OFA, whether he likes or not
Deku learns the identity of the last two mystery OFA users
and then at some point, he wakes up and presumably talks to Gran, and winds up with his cape
something happened during these last two scenes which helped to push Deku over the edge. I won’t delve into the matter of the Second or Third users for now, although most of you already know my suspicions regarding that, and I do think that would fit into the general pattern here (that is, the pattern of Deku feeling more and more strongly that he is putting the people around him in danger, and his fear of losing them becoming so overwhelming that it eventually pushes him to leave).
but that’s not what I want to talk about for now. what I want to talk about is Gran. specifically, what it is that Deku discussed with Gran. and this is where we come back to that reveal I mentioned earlier -- that Tomura is Nana’s grandchild.
Tumblr media
basically, what I think happened is that Deku mentioned seeing Nana in the OFA Zany Psychedelic Spirit Void, which led to the topic of Tomura, and the fun fact Deku recently learned about him being related to Nana. this, in turn leads to Gran divulging his various regrets about everything that happened with him and Nana and Kotarou. his intent is to apologize to Deku for placing the burden of their failures on him. unfortunately, the part that Deku actually gets fixated on instead is this:
All for One hunted down and killed Nana’s son (and probably her husband as well), and stole her grandchild and psychologically tortured him into becoming a mass murderer, for no other reason than that Nana had once held OFA
in other words, AFO can and will hurt and kill anyone Deku is close to, anyone who has any kind of connection to him at all, without mercy, and regardless of whether it actually gives him any kind of tactical advantage or not. he’ll do it simply to hurt him. no other reason necessary.
I don’t know about you, but for me that would be a terrifying realization. and for Deku, I think it just might have been the tipping point.
so, let’s recap.
Deku learns that AFO is after him
AFO/Tomura very nearly kills several of Deku’s most important people, including Kacchan
and then he learns that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and realizes that all of their lives are still in danger and will continue to be as long as Deku is AFO’s target
and then add to all of this the misplaced guilt about society already being shambles, and the heroes already having more than enough to worry about. they’re barely holding things together as it is. and we already know how Deku feels about being a burden to them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and so instead, he leaves. of course he does. in hindsight, I think this was inevitable.
the question is, did anyone else also put the pieces together in time to realize what Deku was planning before he actually left? specifically, did Katsuki, who understands Deku’s self-sacrificial nature better than anyone else, see the signs and put two and two together? like he did back at Jakku?
Tumblr media
and if he did, would Deku have been willing to accept his help again?
Tumblr media
somehow, I can’t help but think it might not be that easy this time.
anyway, so that was a lot of rambling, lol. sorry about that. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS about all of this angsty shit. tired nomad Deku needs hugs and comfort and someone to reassure him that he doesn’t have to face this alone, and that everything is going to be all right. HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY. this is too much, and I cannot handle any of these feels, and oh my god, somebody please help him.

No one should of trusted RWBY+ with fucking anything, let alone saving the world (LIKE REN SAID THEY SHOULDN’T BE MAKING DECISIONS ON) and now look. Two cities destroy, millions dead or homeless, and Salem half-way to completing her goal that might get everyone killed. Yeah, Ozpin totally should apologize for not trusting these idiots.
At the very least the story might have pulled some plot strings to "prove" that Ozpin should have trusted them from the start. Like with Oscar succeeding with Hazel. We know that success required him to go OOC and that in a story with more consistent characterization/realistic reactions from its cast, Oscar would have definitely failed... but that doesn't erase the fact that he didn't. No matter how badly executed, the story essentially argues, "Oscar was right to trust Hazel because look, Hazel helped him" and we might have gotten something similar with the group: "Ozpin was wrong to mistrust them because look, when they learned the truth everything got better."
But, uh... things got so much worse.
The group drove Ozpin away rather than proving that they were actually different from everyone else who learned about Salem. Then they nearly lost the Relic at the farm. They tested the fragile trust between the kingdoms by stealing from Atlas and in doing so got a Leviathan to attack a city. Then they lied to Ironwood - the exact thing Ozpin supposedly shouldn't have done to them. They actively divided their allies - you know, the thing Salem wants. Not splitting the group to complete two separate tasks, Ruby - by turning on the Ace Ops and Ironwood. Ruby told everyone about Salem, which realistically should have caused massive grimm attacks across the entire world. They lost the Relic because they never bothered to put it in the vault. They also ended up losing the last question because of that. They lost the Staff because they stupidly took it out of the vault. Their Maiden was killed, again. An entire populace is displaced and currently getting picked off by grimm. They knowingly, willingly, and deliberately destroyed an entire kingdom when they didn't have to.
Oh, and then five out of ten “died.” If there was any part of Ozpin that held back out of worry for their safety, that’s been proven correct too. They weren’t strong enough, or smart enough to survive this war. Within just a few months they were (we’re meant to believe) killed.
Putting aside, for the moment, that a story needs conflict and failure on the part of its protagonists, everything that has happened since Volume 6, to my mind, proves Ozpin right. Not just in terms of "Wow, when I tell people about Salem they hurt and betray me" but also "Wow, somehow I don't think this group of teenagers with one year of training is ready to be the linchpin of this war." Because that's what they wanted by demanding every secret: to be at the very center of the fight, to be making the tough calls, to play at being the world's hero. The problem is, their idea of a hero is still someone who fixes everything with an epic punch to the face. When that fails... they crumble. Cue Ruby sitting around in the mansion half the volume. Should Ozpin have trusted his inner circle? It's debatable. Lionheart ran to Salem the second he learned of her immortality, Qrow sunk deeper into his alcoholism and gave up the fight, but Ironwood took it in a stride and kept pushing forward. Theodore we don't know yet. So it's pretty up in the air whether that would have assisted Ozpin, or just made things worse that much faster, but then that's not really the question here. Should he have told the group? Should he have deliberately made these teens generals in this war? The plot says, "Absolutely not." Because when they made themselves the generals through force - stealing the question, lying to Ironwood, defeating the Ace Ops, hijacking Amity - things have consistently gotten worse. Nothing we've seen on screen the last three volumes says, "See? Look how much better things are once Ozpin was forced to trust love and put his faith in this team."
And what slays me is that the show so desperately tries to backtrack on this with the fight between Ren and Yang:
Ren: Are you kidding?! We don’t know the first thing about being Huntsmen. We clearly weren’t ready.
Yang: Were we not ready when we saved Haven? When we took down a Leviathan? We got the Lamp to Atlas.
Ren: And then we lost it! And after that, when we had to make real decisions, we got every single one wrong.
Yang: I’m not going to pretend like we did everything perfectly, but if we’d done nothing, things would be even worse than they are now.
Ren: How could they possibly be worse? We are stuck out here while Salem has the Lamp and Oscar. We’ve got no plan, no army.
Yang: We’ve got the Maiden!
Yang is forced to omit so much information to make the team look good here and Ren is only allowed to point out one (1) thing she omits: "And then we lost it!" Yang fails to mention that they didn't save Haven, Blake's army did. So yeah, one member of the team, but it's not like they got in there and kicked epic ass. Weiss nearly died. The Relic was only saved because Raven decided she didn't want it anymore. The group barely held their own and then won due to good timing and the bad guys taking each other out/changing their minds. They were going to defeat two Maidens? Lucky them one Maiden took the other out and then decided to hand them the Relic.
Took down a leviathan? Funny how she fails to mention that they drew the leviathan there in the first place and that Cordovin's drill is what did it in. Even Ruby's eyes is a single person ability that only works on grimm, not at all useful for the human-based problems Ren is talking about. They got the Lamp to Atlas? Yeah, and then you lost it. Getting it to Atlas is literally meaningless when the villains still managed to steal it, that victory a direct result of the group's stupid decisions. It's like going, "I successfully got water out of the boat" and failing to mention that the boat still sank. Oh, and also you could have plugged the hole at any point and just... didn't. The boat sinking is absolutely on your hands. When pressed just the tinniest bit, all Yang can come up with is that they've still got the Maiden, someone who will be attacked, hacked, and murdered by the end of the volume. Everything else? "but if we’d done nothing, things would be even worse than they are now."
That's a very big claim from someone ignoring all her failures. And of course, soon after this Ren dares to use Jaune's lack of training as an example of how unprepared they are (valid), he gets mad, the duo later tells him to open up more (he literally just did), and then the story drops his anger for a semblance upgrade instead. RWBY banks on us just believing Yang, carried along by everyone - all the way through to Nora - going on about how Very Very Wrong Ren Is - because if you actually consider these themes of trust and ask whether Ozpin was wrong to hold back... there's not a lot to challenge that decision. The go-to argument would be, "The heroes made things better once they knew the truth, ergo, they should have known the truth from the start" but the group has continually made things worse. It's not even a temporary problem anymore. No matter that they'll inevitably win, Atlas is gone. They've done irreversible harm to the world and yeah, they're trying to do good, they're trying, but this isn't the story of some teenagers forced into a conflict and doing what they can with the hand they've been dealt. This is the story of some teenagers who forced their way in, so when things go wrong... that's on them, no matter their intentions. They are now responsible, just as much as Ozpin was responsible. Except the story refuses to admit that, continually positioning Ruby as an innocent child in need of reassurance, not the licensed huntress who stole control from Ozpin, lied her way into a new inner circle, attacked former allies to avoid the consequences of her own actions, and presented herself as the world's savior... only to then cry because she never had a plan to begin with. We've got a fantastic story here about how Ruby wasn't ready, none of her friends were, and their naïve belief that they were the heroes of this tale - running after the White Fang, then Cinder, then Salem herself - has done incredible harm within a delicate, multi-generation war. We might have started telling that story if the group had actually sat with Ren's accusations and admitted their mistakes. Instead, we're left with this ridiculous claim that no matter how bad things get, it's always better than the alternative of the group not being involved at all. Because they're the heroes, remember. Their goodness they provide is, supposedly, inherent. The only problem is we no longer have a plot that supports this claim.

In Defense of Season Seven
This season has so many incredible things to offer; the animation, the voice acting, the writing, the character development, like... I think it's one of the best we've had so far. I love season six the most because of how heartwrenching the last few episodes are but this season was still phenomenal. This fandom likes to focus on the negative more than the positive, even if the negative is a minority, so I'm gonna give some opinions on these negative things.
- "forced relationships"
Whomst?? Do you mean Keith and Acxa? Because literally Acxa saved team voltron and Keith didn't want to leave her behind because he's honourable and he felt like they owed her. Ezor and Zethrid teased Acxa about liking Keith but neither of them responded, and in fact Keith had nothing to do with their shit. They were just trying to mess with them. Even if there is some kind of attraction there it's on Acxa's part and is definitely one-sided. I personally think they could even be related, like... I know heteronormativity has us all expecting that when a girl is teased about liking a guy the two will end up together because we've been trained to think that way but really, I know they won't do that. Keith isn't just gonna like... open up to this chick he's known for ten minutes and want to be in a relationship with her. And there's no amount of friendship bonding they could do in 13 episodes that wouldn't make their romance feel clunky and rushed in comparison to the deep and meaningful relationships I love this series for. They've been building Keith and Shiro as a relationship since season one and it's been established that they're stronger now after their battle in season six. The only logical and sensical choice for a Keith romance is Shiro and I know Acxa coming in isn't gonna change that, regardless of how she might feel. Even platonically Shiro basically owns Keith's heart, man. No one is gonna replace that.
If you mean allurance, allow me to point you to the entire fucking series because they've also been building up since season one. Lance has gone from this flirty entitled brat to a respectful and dedicated person and honestly it's one of the best character changes in the series. He's loved - not liked because she's pretty, but loved - and respected Allura since season three and Allura has been falling for him as well. She had that thing with Lotor but that doesn't mean her being with Lance would be forced. Lance didn't feel entitled to her at all, in fact he was more worried for her safety than her and Lotor getting together. He wanted her to be happy because he loves her, even if that meant not being with her. That's huge. It's a great way to have a relationship build instead of the guy getting the girl because he thinks she's hot that we always get with m/f romances.
- "we were queerbaited with sh@dam/ad@shi"
No, we weren't. Y'all if I see one more fucking person saying this season was bad solely because Adam died I'm gonna throw myself off a bridge. Lots of people died. That wall was fucking massive. That's what happens in war (real slick also @ the person who literally accused Bex of defending the decision to kill a gay character when she herself is LGBT+). We literally saw the man for like three minutes of screentime and I don't understand why people expected to see more than that. Shiro is our LGBT+ rep, not Adam. Adam was a plot device meant to deliver the reveal that Shiro is attracted to men. He was never meant to be an important character nor was he meant to get back together with Shiro. There was no queerbaiting of any sort this season.
- "Keith swooping in and saving Shiro was Keith stealing his agency, he should've killed Sendak himself"
This entire show is about togetherness; facing the abyss alongside those you love. Shiro had to face one of his biggest demons this season, and with the theme of the show I'm surprised people think he should've done it alone. He ran head first into that fight with Sendak; no holding back, no fear. That's what mattered. He fought bravely and fiercely against his greatest rival and honestly the confidence he radiated in that scene inversely paralleled season one in which he fought Sendak one on one and ultimately lost. This time he didn't lose-- he had help. A major theme of his arc is learning that he doesn't have to face his demons alone, and it's entirely poetic that it was Keith who killed Sendak, in my opinion. No one else could've done that and had it feel so right. He's always tried to look out for Shiro, and he literally brought him back from the dead. He didn't stop Shiro from going into the fight, he just came in to give him a hand when it was too much for Shiro to handle alone. It was done really well.
- "Shiro isn't the black paladin anymore"
Okay, to be fair before the season even aired I was upset as much as the next guy but my upsettedness dwindled because I knew they wouldn't be sidelining him. The directors love Shiro so much, okay? Like... yes he's suffered but everyone has. So much thought and care was poured into his character and his arc and I'm so grateful for that. Being the captain of the Atlas is an incredibly important role, and the sole reason she can even transform into a mecha is because of his arm. He's seen giving orders not only to the paladins but to literally everyone. He's still very much a leader, even without the black lion. That's what his arc is about; that he's more than just the black paladin. He's more than the burden that was placed on his shoulders. Yeah they solidified a lot that Shiro was the true black paladin but honestly passing the torch to Keith doesn't bother me one bit. Keith has grown into his position so well and he clearly excels, just like Shiro always knew he would. Shiro has outgrown the role of black paladin and has moved on to the role of Captain Shirogane. He's incredible this season and I'm so happy with what they've done with him.
- "they queerbaited k/ance"
Uh... no. They said months back that they never intended for it to be canon and the fact that people got that vibe actually surprised them. Yes Keith and Lance got along this season but that just is a testement to their growth as individuals. They've outgrown the rivalry and I'm glad to see that. Lance can be Keith's right hand man and is content in that position and Keith trusts him. That's huge. I'm so happy they ended up like that and I'd love to see more of them being friends next season.
- "the writing was bad"
Okay, that's an opinion. You're allowed to have those. Thing is though, that it really wasn't. Because we've had such short seasons getting a long one where a lot of stuff happens has overwhelmed everyone who watched it all at once. It might feel poorly written to some because the focus is heavily on plot development and not relationships between characters as in previous ones. Essentially, shit got real this season and there was no time for that kind of thing, even with 13 episodes. With the battle for Earth over, the only big bad we've got left is Honerva, who has fucked off to who knows where. They'll definitely end up fighting her in s8, but s7 really had a "final battle" feel in the finale. I feel like a lot of the last season will be dealing with the aftermath of this one, to be honest. Characters talking things out, Allura and Lance becoming official, Keith and Shiro possibly also becoming official, picking up the pieces and rebuilding Earth like we already saw them doing, etc. It's gonna be less plot heavy and more "chill", I think. An interesting choice for the final season to be sure but the battle for Earth was so fucking intense it's hard to top that. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like 7 is gonna be the most intense season of the show.
- "the sheith was OOC"
?? This one confuses me. Maybe it's because we had so much of it last season that the general lack of interaction between them got to some people but really? Pre-Kerberos backstory? Keith begging Shiro to fight and stay alive? Keith helping Shiro defeat Sendak? That moment where Keith is holding him and that look they give each other?? Like?? We were blessed and it was perfectly in character. Next season I think we'll see what Joaquim meant more that their bond is now stronger now that all the crazy shit on Earth has gone down.
Those are the only complaints I've really seen so far, but there are probably more. These are just my opinions on these subjects and of course not liking the season for any reason is your opinion if you don't. You don't have to like all of or even some of it. This is just my input.

FEAR - (rwby) cinder fall x fem!reader
Tumblr media
r e q u e s t e d “RWBY Angst request: "I want to be strong. I want to be feared. I want to be powerful." Cinder thinks to a time when she didn't want any of these things, and how it cost her her female s/o's life.” |[ 1,256 words ]|
WARNINGS: mentions of sexual content, sexual assault (just suggestive stuff, but still), OOC (out of character), some colourful language, a small mention of discrimination against faunus?, violence, injuries, death
Y/N = your name
Some sensitive/trigger contents ahead, so be careful. Also, Cinder and the reader are about 19/20 years old. Aaand, my angst/death stories are just messy in general, so I'm sorry about that. :P
◢ ◣◥ ◤ ◢ ◣◥ ◤ ◢ ◣◥ ◤
"Race you there!" Cinder exclaimed as she suddenly sprinted ahead, taking you by surprise. You were both heading towards one of your favorite bakeries.
Cinder and you had met randomly on the street some years ago. Cinder had stumbled and bumped into you. After a flow of apologies, you had successfully convinced the girl that it was fine. You had then proceeded to invite the lovely girl for a drink. That's how your relationship blossomed and you quickly became best friends.
Once in a while, when you could afford it – you weren't exactly the richest people –, Cinder and you would go shopping to your favorite shops. Now, you both lived together in a small apartment in Vale and you were happy together, as girlfriends.
"That's cheating Cinder!" you called out to the black-haired girl now a few yards away from you. You took off after her, trying to catch up with her.
Cinder panted as she ran as fast as she could. She took a sharp turn into an alley that she knew leaded to the bakery, only to suddenly bump into something and fall to the ground with a grunt.
"Well, what do we have here?" a large, menacing man chuckled as he eyed Cinder in a lecherous way. The black-haired girl felt chills running down her spine. "S-Sorry," she muttered as she got up, quickly walking pass the man. Unfortunately, right before she was out of range, the man grabbed her wrist and tugged her back as Cinder yelped in surprise.
"Wait, babe, where are you going?" the man questioned, smirking. Cinder gulped trying to free her arm, but the man held a firm and strong grip. "I'm joining my girlfriend," Cinder tried to sound confident, but she couldn't help her voice from wavering a little towards the end.
"Girlfriend? Oh, babe, I could please you way more than some dyke. What do you say about having some fun?" he asked with a disgusting smile on his face. Cinder tried to break free again: "No, I'll be going now."
The man didn't let go. "Come on, baby, you know you'll like it," he said as he pushed Cinder against the alley's wall. The girl gulped in fear. She wasn't strong enough to free herself. If only I had stayed with Y/N, none of this would have happened, she thought with tears pooling in her eyes.
Suddenly, the man fell to the ground, releasing Cinder. The black-haired girl opened her eyes to see you kicking down the man. "No means no, you fucking bastard," you gritted your teeth in anger.
Cinder's worry melted away. Your presence was extremely relieving and the girl was glad you had found her before something bad could happen. "Y/N..." she murmured. Your anger quickly subsided as you heard you girlfriend. You turned to look at Cinder with a smile on your face.
You were about to join her when something was stabbed into your tight. You screamed in pain as Cinder yelped in horror. You looked down to meet the man's crazy gaze as he kicked your other leg, making you fall to the ground.
"You bitch," the man growled as he lifted himself up before slowly advancing towards you, menacingly holding the knife he had stabbed you with. Cinder quickly searched the ground for a weapon.
The girl's eyes fell on a pipe and she quickly grabbed ahold of it. "Don't touch her!" the black-haired girl cried out as she hit the man on his back with all her strength. The man caught himself from falling as he whirled around and kicked Cinder in the stomach. The girl groaned as she fell on her back, a few yards away.
Before you both could do anything, the man was hovering over you as he stabbed you in the stomach. "Y/N!" Cinder yelled out and her semblance, which had been dormant up until now, activated and a big fire ball was thrown towards the man. It hit him hard and he was immediately knocked out.
Cinder got up, running to your side. "Y/N..." she wept as she applied pressure to your wound, "Y/N, hold on."
A small dribble of blood was coming from your mouth. You grunted as you shifted to accommodate to the pain as best as you could. "Sorry I left you alone..." you muttered. Cinder shook her head: "Don't say that. I'm the one that ran away."
You felt your strength vanishing from your body as you realized that this probably was the end. You consoled yourself by thinking about the fact that your last few years alive were spent with the girl you loved. "I'm happy I met you in that street, Cinder," you said with a smile.
"No, no, no. Don't say that as if everything is over. You will make it!" the black-haired girl cried in anguish. You sadly smiled in answer before you gaze turned serious: "Promise me you'll take care of yourself."
"Y/N, I-" "Cinder," you interrupted in spite of your rapidly-diminishing strength. The black-haired girl took a deep breath, a few tear drops falling down her face, before she nodded. "I p-promise," her voice wavered, jaw trembling.
"Good..." you smiled as you relaxed into your girlfriend's arms, "I love you."
Cinder wiped at her tears. "I love you too," she nodded her head before leaning in to embrace you. When she pulled back, your body was limp. The brunette covered her mouth with her hand, sobbing openly.
The girl's gaze turned to the man who had assaulted her. It's all his fault, a voice growled in her head. And she couldn't help but agree that the voice was right. Fury ignited inside of the girl as she pushed herself up. Suddenly, a team of medic was by her side, inspecting Y/N's body as Cinder was met with an unknown face saying something to her and the girl's anger vanished.
She blinked as the voice became more and more clear. "Are you alright?" Cinder could make out and she shook her head. "Y-Y/N..." the black-haired girl choked out.
Everything else was a blur as Cinder fell unconscious.
In the end, the man was released. There had been an investigation, but it had soon been closed off. There was no real evidence, they said. The witness's, a faunus and the person that had called the police, claim had been ignored. Cinder learned later on that the man who had assaulted her and killed you was a Huntsman from Atlas.
In the news, the story had been covered up. The claims now where that Cinder and you had attacked the man, supposedly to steal him, and that the Huntsmen simply defended himself.
Cinder's life was burning up in flames. She had lost you and her attacker had turned the tides against her. Thus is why she found herself facing a strange woman in a strange place on the lost continent of Remnant.
The woman had a white hair as well as a white-complexion with black veins running down her skin. There was a black diamond-shaped mark on her forehead. Her eyes were red and her sclerae were black. During her travels around Remnant, Cinder had heard rumours about this powerful woman who supposedly had the Grimm under her control.
Cinder locked eyes with the woman. "I want to be strong, I want to be feared, I want to be powerful," the black-haired girl said.
Salem squinted, slightly tilting her head. "Interesting..." the woman started before she smirked, "Then I hope you are certain of this, because there is no turning back.
Cinder nodded in answer. "Good," Salem lightly smiled, a bizarre sheen in her eyes.

[insert catchy title here]
well hello there… i see my title has caught your eye… -u-
introductions first: hiya! i’m tea (like the beverage), i’m in my early 20’s, and i live in midwestern USA so my timezone is central. i roleplay exclusively through email. i’ve tried other mediums and they just don’t stick for me. there will be an ooc thread for plotting/planning/talking and an rp thread for the actual roleplay. god i hope this looks okay because it NEVER formats well after i submit it and can be grueling to read when it’s a long ad like this.
for the rp itself, well. i’m looking for a small array of things, so i figured i’d make an ad as a catch-all instead of doing something like one ad per request. i will only do oc/oc romance, btw! the only exception to this is one fandom, which i will specify when i get to it.
i’m currently looking to roleplay something in these veins: fallout, percy jackson, story of seasons/harvest moon, avatar: the last airbender/legend of korra, and original (supernatural/demons/generic spooky things). read on if you want to know more.
style;
☆third person.
☆past tense.
☆novel or multi-paragraph; i can snap out four paragraphs or 20, usually novel but like i can work w/ anything.
☆good handle on grammar, maybe some spelling errors if i’m responding from my phone. i’m very relaxed with typing OOC as u can tell but i go all out with actual writing, don’t worry.
characters;
☆varied in personality and backstory, i usually make new ones for rps but sometimes a character sticks with me.
☆i can handle various roles at once; side characters or recurring roles aside from mains are welcome.
☆doubling or tripling is alright.
☆i don’t use FC’s and prefer written descriptions, but i’m a hoe for pinterest and moodboards and use that for character references.
☆i get attached to our characters so i’m into talking about them and making content. expect me sending u vines or songs and being like “this is them.”
romance;
☆yes…it is required by law (i am the law).
☆i am mainly looking for M// romance for ocs at the moment! F// is good too tho, esp when doubling.
☆hit me with every trope under the sun, i will be into it. i love cheesy stuff.
smut;
☆required. i don’t fade to black
☆switch, but preference can be discussed and swayed when doubling. i will however die if you come to me with the intention of only playing bottom characters.
☆no incest, pedo, bestiality, toilet stuff, noncon. please don’t contact me if u support any of that stuff in any way.
i prefer my partners to be 18+ minimum, 20+ is best case scenario. none of the characters will be underage and would be in their twenties or older, i don’t really like playing older teens (18/19) much even if they are of age and are legal adults. it’s just what i prefer.
AND NOW… ONTO THE UNIVERSE RELEVANCE… asterisks for cravings.
FALLOUT; i’ve only played F3 and a little bit of F4 i know i’m a newbie. 😞 everyone tells me to play NV and i will! i’m working on it. i have no plot in mind other than it could be fun to make our own setting/area of the US they haven’t explored in canon, like mountains or something. but otherwise staying in canon areas is good!
☆ghoul/non-radiated person
☆fresh-outta-the-vault/wasteland veteran
☆sole-survivor/oc
☆lone wanderer/oc
☆regular oc/oc!
PERCY JACKSON;*** ok i’m gonna be honest. i never read heroes of olympus. or any other riordan book beside the original PJO books. BUT i love the original series so like. u knowwww. for the plot, i don’t have anything, but i’ve seen a couple ads floating around with some interesting plot bunnies? i love the idea of demigods in a different time period. i don’t want to steal anything though, LOL. basically anything’s good! some pairings i like:
☆big three demigod/extremely minor demigod kid
☆demigod/satyr or spirit
☆demigods with a parental rivalry
☆BEST FRIENDS bro CHB is like. peak best friends to lovers scenario.
STORY OF SEASONS/HARVEST MOON;***
i love the harvest moon series & have been playing the gay ROMs lately so i’m really feelin it. this is the only fandom i will do canon characters for! specifically, canon/canon, either between bachelor/ettes or bachelor/ettes and the corresponding farmer for the game. i have a few favorites in some of the games i’ve played, which i’ll list here.
friends of mineral town/MFoMT: all DS/DS cute: all except carter. i loooove muffy!
sunshine island: all
animal parade: all; chase, toby, calvin, anissa, candace.
tale of two towns: all; kana, hiro.
a new beginning: all except allen; iroha, witch princess, sanjay, amir
story of seasons: all; raeger
of course, ocs in a story of seasons/HM setting would be so sick! i’d love to make a town with side characters. this would be very video game-like: heart events, character gift preferences, the whole nine yards. i have a couple of ideas for a town setting, but mostly i’d like to make one with my partner:
☆fantasy-based, like rune factory. along with humans, there could be dwarves, elves, mermaids/mermen, selkies, magic-users… maybe a shape-shifting dragon? ☆supernatural-based, kind of a halloweentown vibe? along with humans, there could be vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, ghosts, et cetera. ☆pokemon-based. instead of regular farm animals, they’re pokemon! miltank, combee, mareep, sudowoodo, et cetera. this could be suuuuper cute and fun. ☆LOZ-based, in hyrule. there could be hylians, rito, zora, et cetera.
A:TLA/LOK;*
i’d prefer something set either before a:tla or after lok with our own avatar and group. could be fun and interesting to explore and make our own story. i have an idea for an avatar just because i’ve been thinking of avatar in general but i really don’t have a preference for the role so lmk if you’d rather play it.
☆avatar/bender helping them master an element
☆avatar/non-bender
☆airbender/firebender
☆any/any!
ORIGINAL;
this one is the loosest i’ve got. i love small town horror vibes — think NiTW or OTGW. i prefer horror-comedy or like, quirky horror romcom stuff, so i’m not looking for anything genuinely frightening (but that could be so fun too). think a dude accidentally summoning a demon, someone accidentally selling their soul, some people investigating mysterious supernatural happenings in their town, stuff like that. any and everything is good, my options are beyond open. also in general i prefer human/non-human pairings, so anything along those lines in a setting like this will work. werewolves, demons, vampires, witches, send them all my way.

Twilight Mirage liveblog 3/5 (episodes 28-54)
28-35
I'm very excited for a series of solo episodes!
Don't know how I feel about the new Grand Magnificent tbh… This concept feels more conventional than the original one, and I'm worried the aspects of his character I found interesting won't be in focus anymore.
I had my problems with the previous system and how it flattened down emotions into inaccurate categories, but so far I'm not excited about the switch… Blades in the Dark's mechanics were kinda hard for me to follow by ear, and being unable to keep track of the gameplay by myself is unpleasant; and the new classes sound really dull compared to the ones in The Veil.
Iota's speech is strange… It sounds more like a simple copy-paste of real-life colonialism than the invasion described previously in the story. “They will ask you to give them a name like ours, they will ask to touch your bone” etc sounds nothing like Independence and its followers' modus operandi was, and, judging by the future tense, hasn't actually happened with the present time settlers yet – so where did that come from, in-universe? In fact, shouldn't her people have a relatively positive outlook on non-hostile outsiders, since they brought on the planet's golden age? Hopefully the following episodes will elaborate on this, because I've made peace with needing lore or plot points explained to me several times, but I need more clarity on big ideological question like this.
Gig is such a Chaotic Good!!
Buying sex is legal, normal & common in the utopia and Signet is a regular customer?! Fucking seriously?! I couldn't even focus on the episode for the next half hour and eventually turned it off because my thoughts kept returning to this and I kept seething with anger. Way to ruin the episode after I was so moved and intrigued by the intro…
They've been pretty careful with past spoilers this season, here's I think the first example: talking at length about the Hitchcocks, plural. Sure, it was only an episode three spoiler, but it was such a good reveal!
So, who actually printed out the ancient Quire people? Was it a political move from one of the sides?
No Austin you definitely have not mentioned Earth building a giant Dyson spehere around themselves!!! What the fuck :D
Everyone got a nice inconsequential vignette and Fourteen's scene had actual high stakes…
I really, really don't get what Seneschal looks like
After half a season of two separate parties and seven solo episodes it's so nice to hear everyone together!
Signet's look is absolutely not the kind of thing I imagined her wearing…
Please tell me someone has made an animatic about Even's hair tendril high-fiving Gig's eye
36-45
It's always cute when the first words after the intro are in that specific tone of voice that makes it obvious that at least 5-10 minutes before were spent in a lively conversation about some nonsense that finally was put to an end no more than two seconds ago (and then they talk about nonsense for ten more minutes lol)
I love this show's dedication to describing everyone's outfits in extreme detail at every opportunity
50k+ years later it's Art and Jack's turn to be the half of the party who walks right through the door and charm their way in lol. I hope they don't get shot or buy a bunch of torch units or something
I really like “finding a way to help a teenage community fit in the world” and “reconnecting a family and acquiring infrastructure for travel between planets” as the first projects; it really does convince you that these people have set out to make the world a better place (even if a lot of the time is actually spent pulling heists or fighting mechanical tigers).
Okay, the scavenger faction leader is literally a vulture, I get it.
What I don't get is why we are supposed to dislike that faction. There was some general “eh, they suck” said OOC during setup but we haven't actually seen them do anything bad! Show, don't tell! They need to, like, raid Big Garage and try to steal Gumption's arm if you want me to see them as an enemy.
Remember that nonsense I wrote about T. Rex in my C/w notes post? I can't believe they're doing basically the same joke on the actual show!
But how about… not capture or kill… but befriend the Axiom and/or release it into the wild… I know, I know, they can't travel far enough to move it to a safe distance from humans. But it just offends me on principle that after all that talk of diversity etc, when the characters actually meet a truly alien, unique species, they only consider the options of killing or capturing and exploiting them, and nobody even tries to ask “hey, shouldn't these creatures have rights, even if we are forced to disregard them in self-defence for the moment?” You know who I need to appear on screen ASAP? Bounty. Ask it everything! Does it remember being an Axiom? What did it feel like? What does it think about its transformation and new role?
I thought Grand's special gun was just Even's gun?
Did Janine just call Belgard Signet's “robot wife”? Hell yeah
Me for an hour straight, not having read the description: Blease Do Not Kill My Alien Child I guess that's at least postponed now though… The situation did immediately get mildly creepy again, which makes me concerned. Is this just a different reason to kill a different Axiom – to Free Innocents from a Lotus Eater Machine? I'm getting serious September flashbacks. Honestly, between this, the other team's arc which felt like a crossover about the Chime in Marielda, and everyone getting a personal mech, this half of the season is starting to feel like Counter/weight 2, which is sad because at the beginning the atmosphere was much more original. Also I miss Primary and Satellite's correspondence, it was such a good framing device and a touching relationship at the same time!
Polyphony's powers and way of thinking are more similar to Quire than anything else
I feel very relieved and vindicated by the direction this story took!
Hell yeah finally more about the Waking Cadent!! I've been waiting for that for how many episodes now? Now that we've seen her in person I hate her actually Amend that, I hate both Cadents. A plague on both their houses!
46-54
Good on you Even, what's even the point of a military background if you don't pull rank on some jerks
Am I glad to hear from the Rapid Evening again! Bold of Austin to assume we could forget who Primary and Satellite were Okay, I first had this question a ton of episodes ago, but now it is relevant again: does Grey know the contents of the previous Satellite's final message? She knows about its existence because the numbers match up (yeah I went back and checked), but does she know that Crystal Palace either made a colossal miscalculation about Independence's route or lied on purpose for some reason?
Wait, characters still have beliefs? I don't remember this coming up since the game change
I completely forgot about Tender's cyborg legs and also misheard “I have a fake leg” as “thick leg” and was like “Uh good for you but how's that gonna help?!”
Once again, Team Exploration goes ahead and leaves Team Heist without resources lol. What do you mean they're using our ship for an orbital drop? What do you mean they've taken all axiom scanners? :D Seriously though, it's a shame that the sessions were played in this order because in-universe I see no reason why they wouldn't say “Hey before you go after Acre Seven, let's fly over Terncage and do a scan real quick” (the range on the scanners is far enough for that, right?)
I don't get how Ache works. For Quire, it made what it wishes it could be, but for everyone else it just made evil clones vaguely themed after their regrets?
TENDER IS A GAY DISASTER I haven't heard such a spectacular meltdown since Calhoun probably, holy shit
TENDER IS A DISASTER SQUARED she starts talking to a woman and just doesn't stop! This is a great episode
I like how Gig immediately says no to the devil's bargain
Oh Signet disregarding the digital Blooming, you clearly haven't seen/read (the future version of) Solaris :D
Oh no, it's the Smiling God! Came to visit another podcast that used to have a personification of capitalism as a big boss evil god
A crit at the last possible moment, after a long string of 1s… Ali's dice see through the fourth wall!
I… didn't fully understand the reveal of how it was all connected
Okay, so the Dark Day could have been prevented by keeping the gun dealer priest alive and allowing him to arm the NEH so that it could take over Twilight Mirage and wouldn't need to activate plan B i.e. come here and block signal from the Crystal Palace? Correct? It makes sense now, but Our Profit seems to be from such a far future that I just can't imagine how this plan was created and put in place
O….k… I actually expected Grand to leave the team and go off on his own (or become an NPC) as a consequence of the holiday special if he was the sacrificed character instead of the Chthonic. But now that's kind of strange to hear after all that talk of redemption and second chances?
You get a status! And you get a status! Everyone gets a status!
Wow having a near death experience out of the blue is so relaxing for Fourteen! :D NEVER MIND HOLY CRAP I'm glad that at least Fourteen kept their signature move from The Veil. I was wondering what it would be like, and honestly expected it to be just thrown out
Excuse me, “Omega in Mass Effect 2” and “cool place run by trustworthy people” are literally opposite concepts, have we even played the same game
Grand: Who likes Fourteen Fifteen? Tender, not even letting him finish: ME!!!
Welp, my first guess about the Waking Cadent's identity was correct
Holy crap! I never realized Independence was in that one flashback episode of Counter/weight
