Utterly Ridiculous Chapter 7 Wedding
AO3
The dress is the prettiest she has ever seen. Falling past her shoes, it pushes up her bosom nicely. A off-white a shade lighter then white, it is covered in blue flowers that reminds her of the tiny flowers, who’s presence, brought her here, to this moment. She weeps when she sees it, Weeps harder at seeing it on her
“Now lass, don’t weep to much. Jamie will think you don’t want this.” Mrs. Fitz says as she works her hair up into a proper matronly bun. No maidens hair for a widow.
“Oh, but I do. More then anything.” She smiles, humming happily around the pins in her mouth. She loves them both and is happy to see Ellen’s son in such a good match.
On the other side of the castle, Jamie paces in his wedding clothes. The kilt swings widely as he turns, moving back towards his amused Godfather. “Now lad, it won’t be much longer. Is it the vows or the coming night that has you so on edge?”
He looks up at the man that is more a dad to him then a Godfather. “The coming night. I haven’t, ye see. She has. I worry..”
“Dinna fash about that lad. To the lass, it is just an uncomfortable part of marriage. Just get it over as soon as possible.”
“Well, that won’t be a problem.” They both laugh.
When she enters the candle lit hall, she believes it the most beautiful sight she has ever seen. Until she sees her groom. No longer the grudge stable worker, he has been transformed into a bloody Viking god. Her mouth falls open and stays that way as she walks up to him. She sees her is equally flabbergasted.
“Claire, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” He admits as he takes her hand.
“You are the handsomest man.” Dressed in his absolute best, from the tartan, pinned to his shoulder to his gleaming boots, he is ever inch a Highland warrior. He grins and sweeps a bow before her.
“Your servant ma’am.”
He holds tight to her shaken hands as the familiar vows are said. She notices his are equally quivering. But together, they calm each other. The only time he gets nervous again is when the priest asks for a ring. Oops, someone forgot the ring. He takes the ruby one off his own hand and places it on the bible with an look of apology to his bride. They both bow their heads, keeping their own thoughts or prayers as the ring is blessed. The smell of the blessing incense raising above then adds a feeling of holiness to the ceremony. It is a feeling that was absent in her rushed civil service with Frank lacked.
He slips the to big ring on her finger, holding it own by enclosing her hand in his bigger one. A few more words are spoken before Dougal comes up and draws Jamie’s dirk out of it’s sheath. He takes her right hand and draws it lightly across her wrist before doing the same to Jamie. Their bleeding wrist are bound together with a long cloth. She looks at Jamie, shocked.
“It is okay. Just repeat after me.” He whispers. She does her best, stumbles over the unfamiliar Gaelic words. They are unbound and the priest turns back around. She hadn’t noticed he had turned around. They are announced as married and invited to kiss.
She meant to give him a quick kiss, appropriate for the occasion. But his lips are so warm and soft and she has been so hungry for him. She deepens it, feels the shudder go through her new husband as he responds. A gauge cheer sounds around them. A few closer coughs, meant to bring them apart. But they continue to kiss. Finally Dougal touches their shoulders and they come apart with a pop.
“Save something for tonight, eh nephew.” Another cheer goes up.

Raihan x reader: Wonderful
Oh geez. Here we go. So like this is my first fanfic on here? I’m just vibing with Pokemon right now and Raihan is my man, soooooo yeah, hope this is entertaining enough oop
Word count: 5053
Warnings: just some suggestiveness???
Warm rays of sunlight flowed into the bedroom from a single window, hitting the dresser with a glow of yellow. The crystal bottles filled with fragranced liquids lining the countertop shone pastel blues and yellows, reflecting those colors through them onto the wall. The rest of the room wasn’t as bright, the small desk and chair still basking in the darkness in the corner. The bed radiated only a slight amount of the light, only the bottom edges filled with its warmth.
Perhaps this was a reason for the sudden stirring from underneath the blue sheets of the bed. The slight warmth could be felt on their toes, legs shifting to be tucked closer to their cool form. Their torso flipping from one side to the other, arms moving above their head to be tucked under a plush pillow. It wasn’t until the shift of their face from the darkness to the rising light that their features also moved. A bat of their lashes. A twitch of their nose. The move of a hand to run through the messy tresses of their hair would let tired eyes open. A blink or two, then closed again with a scrunch of exhausted annoyance. Their torso moved again, shifting to the darker side, hoping to fall asleep once more.
A few moments. A sigh. Then, the dark eyes of the girl lying on the bed opened. She rubbed at her face, moving her hair from her eyes as they started to focus. She was facing a wall, her eyebrows furrowing at this knowledge. She quickly sat up, instantly regretting her decision as soon as a pounding headache came flooding into her skull. She flung her hand to her forehead with eyes squeezed shut. The pain was unbearable, but the unfamiliarity she possessed was her priority. She slowly opened an eye. Then the other. Her hand was still in place, the pounding in her head not easing in the slightest. She looked around the room. Slowly. Nervously. She saw a grey dresser sitting near the bed, the light streaming in from the window across from it, allowing the dresser to bask in its brightness. She looked across from her, noting the posters and picture frames lining the wall. The glare from the light made the glass frames impossible to see through. She noted the desk with papers scattered across it. Then to the chair, tucked neatly into the desk, and yet, saw something that made her head ache much more than it already did. A bright red bra hung from the edge of the chair.
Her bright red bra.
The one she had been wearing the night before.
Then the fuzziness in her head cleared up for a moment as it finally dawned on her.
“Oh no.”
With a swift snap of her head to the right, disregarding the pain in her skull, she finally acknowledged the figure soundly sleeping beside her. The blue bed sheet was draped up to his chin, his dark face looking peaceful with his eyes shut. To be frank, she found him beautiful.
But that didn’t change anything.
She had slept with him.
Of course she couldn’t remember the previous evenings events. She must have been drunk out of her mind. Which brought her to the conclusion of the unceasing headache. She groaned, rather loudly, and quickly covered her mouth. She looked over to the sleeping man beside her, hoping her sound was not loud enough to cause him to stir. She waited for at least a minute. After what felt like eternity, she decided he would not wake up, and sighed in relief. She stared at him for a while longer, wondering how in the world she could have ended up in this position.
How did they meet?
Why could she have agreed to be taken home?
Was he at least good?
Her mind yearned for answers, but the pounding did not help as she searched for any possible memory of the night before. Then a decision was made. She needed to leave.
She unwrapped herself from the, quite honestly, soft covers, her naked form disgusting her as she carefully moved a leg over the edge of the bed. The other soon followed, and slowly, she slid herself off of the bed.
Now. For the harder part. How to find her clothes as quickly and quietly as possible.
She headed straight to where she saw her bra, swiftly grabbing it from its hanging position and fastening it to her body. She looked to the rest of the room, noting the mess it was in. A pair of socks near her foot. A black shirt on the dresser. Blue boxers with small dragons on them lying near the foot of the bed. Then she noted her own pair of underwear, seeming to have been thrown on the lamp shade without a care. The only problem, it was right near the man on the bed, who she quite honestly did not want to wake at all.
She slowly tiptoed over, feeling as if each step was getting louder and louder the closer she approached. She stopped once she was right near him. She reached for her important article of clothing, carefully sliding it off without making a sound. She deemed herself successful when it was in hand, but forgot the small detail of the man beside her. He flipped his body to face where she was standing, her half naked self still presented in all of its glory. She released a small yelp from her mouth and quickly threw a hand over her lips in horrified surprise. She glanced down at him, seeing that he was still, in fact, asleep. Yet another sigh of relief was released as her hand slid down to her chest. And here, she could get a good look at the stranger.
He was what anyone would call the embodiment of “tall, dark, and handsome.” From what she could see from the parts of him that wasn’t covered with the blanket, he was fine as hell. A toned chest, arms that definitely showed his muscles, and the sharpest jawline she could ask for. His hair was long, but tamed, simply pulled back into a bun where an undercut was also visible. She noticed the small hole on each earlobe, noting the fact that he most likely wore earrings.
To say the least, she had no idea why she would run away from such a fine specimen. He was an ideal man that she would love to wake up to every morning. How she ended up tangled with him was a puzzle she still needed to piece together, but seeing him sleeping so peacefully made her think over her decision of leaving.
Perhaps staying wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe something could start between the two of them. Maybe, if she slid back into bed with him and he woke up, something could spark up. Obviously, it would start as an awkward encounter, but perhaps it could lead to something. Something real.
She stared for a few moments longer, a hand subconsciously reaching out to stroke the side of his face. Her index finger was only a few inches from his cheek when she retracted it. She sighed. She knew better than that. Knew better to not expect anything to come from this. They both were most likely too drunk to know what they were doing. They were strangers anyway. She didn’t even know his name. So how then could she stay? No. That’s why she knew she made the right decision. She had to leave before anything she didn’t want to encounter would jump out at her.
So, she quickly found the rest of her articles of clothing, each one seeming to be in a different room of the apartment. Her bag was thankfully hanging on a hook on the wall near the front door, all of her belongings thankfully accounted for. She slipped on her heels, opened the front door, and exited the apartment, leaving without a second glance.
~~~
Arriving home was the easy part, but entering… Now that would be hard. As a person who lived with a roommate, she would not be let off easy for staying at someone else's home. She didn’t want nor need her roommate to ask stupid questions, especially not while her brain was still a painful mess. But, once that front door was opened, dread already entered her system. She entered slowly, poking her head in first, then swung the door open to let herself in. She felt slightly better as she saw no sign of her roommate. Kicking off her painful heels, and placing her purse on the kitchen table, she smiled to herself in triumph in avoiding her roommate.
“What’chu smiling about?”
She jumped in shock, finding her roommate leaning against the stove with a coffee cup near her lips. An eyebrow was raised as well, waiting for an answer.
“Noth-nothing. I’m not smiling. Why would I--” A groan left her lips as a wave of pain re-entered her head. She raised a hand to rub at her forehead. Her eyes were squeezed shut. An annoyed sigh could be heard from her roommate. Then footsteps, a sound of a cabinet opening. Objects being moved around, and then the closing of the cabinet.
“Here.” She was handed a pill as she reopened her eyes, her roommate filling up a glass of water to also give her. She flushed down the pill gladly, hoping her headache could ease up with its help. “Geez (nickname), you really need to take care of yourself.” Her roommate sighed as she passed her to sit in the living room. (Nickname) followed, her water in hand.
“Yeah, yeah, I know, I know.” She sat across from her roommate, looking down into the glass.
“So. Are you gonna tell me or not?”
(Nickname) looked up to her roommate, who gave the same questioning look as before.
“Well, I mean, I would Ness, but….”
“But what?”
(Nickname) gulped.
“I don’t really know what happened myself.”
Ness shook her head in disbelief.
“Are you being serious right now (Name)? You got so drunk that you can’t even remember? I looked for you like crazy. I called you I don’t even know how many times. I worried about you, and now you’re telling me you can’t even remember where you went?”
(Name) looked back down at her glass, feeling ashamed, but allowing herself to start to get upset as well.
“You didn’t need to worry about me Nessa! I’m a big girl! I can make my own decisions, okay? And…” a snippet of the events from the night before flashed in her head, “and it’s not like you even cared about me when we were out!”
“Excuse me?”
“You were doing your own thing! You left me alone to dance, especially when you know I wasn’t in the mood to be there last night! So of course, I had a few drinks, and-and when that-that guy, when he offered me another drink, I couldn’t say no!”
“Yes you could’ve!”
“No! I really could not have.”
“And why not?!”
(Name) paused. She remembered the beautiful sleeping face of the man from earlier, then regained a blur of him from the night before.
“Because... He was the most attractive person I’d ever seen.”
She turned, her face filled with a look of wonder. The image of him was returning from last night. She recalled his smile being rather charming. And how his eyes contrasted his dark skin in the prettiest hue of aquamarine. And how his outfit accentuated his lean figure, giving off a sophisticated look that also left room for the imagination of what could be underneath. She remembered sitting alone at the bar, a hand holding her chin as the other circled the brim of her martini glass. He had politely asked if the seat beside her was taken, waiting before she nodded to sit. She had sat quietly for some time before he turned to her and asked if she would like another drink. Turning her head to him in confusion and blinking twice with large eyes, she responded with a rather awkward yes, receiving a chuckle from him. Showing his lovely smile.
With this short glimpse, she looked back to Nessa, who was leaning forward and looking at (name) as if she was trying her hardest to imagine what she was thinking. (Name)looked up at the ceiling, then back to her roommate, all the while opening and closing her mouth several times before she finally spoke.
“I’d never seen him before. We’ve been out so many times, that usually there is always the same type of uninteresting guys,” her eyes moved back to her glass, “But… he was different. He had this weird vibe. I noticed him when he first walked in, and just brushed him off, thinking he was definitely way out of my league. I mean, come on. Did you see him?”
(Name) returned to look at Nessa, who shook her head in response.
“No? Oh… well that’s beside the point. The point is, he looked like he was just another one of those arrogant assholes that always walk in a bar. The ones that are hoping to find some random dumbass chick who’ll be too ditzy to realize all they want is to get in your pants. But, that wasn’t how he was. You know what I mean?”
Another shake of the head.
Then an annoyed sigh from the hopeful party.
“He was different is what I mean. He didn’t just take the seat next to me like any other guy who didn’t want to pay me any mind. He was polite. He asked me. He waited for a response. And I was listening to his conversation with his friend,” -- Nessa shook her head in disapproval -- “and he didn’t sound like such a jerk. In fact, it seemed like he was uninterested in being there in general. Most guys are there to check out girls and to get slammed! But, he just sat there, sipping his drink. And then, he turned to me.”
She tucked her legs beside her, a slight smile playing on her lips as she traced the rim of her glass. She continued.
“He looked like he was bored,” -- she chuckled-- “but he asked if I wanted a drink. And it surprised me. And I guess my reaction was funny because I mean, he laughed. And, may I say, it was the nicest laugh I’ve ever heard.”
Nessa smiled at this with a shake of her head. She put her hand out in a stop motion.
“How is that even possible?”
“What?”
“It being ‘the nicest laugh you’ve ever heard’?”
(Name) covered her face from slight embarrassment. She laughed again.
“I don’t know!” she said, her voice becoming noticeably higher. She bit her lip. “It… It just was!”
“Okay, okay,” Nessa laughed. “Continue.”
“Okay. So… hmm,” she pressed her lips together in thought, trying her hardest to remember what happened after that. “Well, I mean, it’s obvious I got a drink. And…”
She looked to Nessa, her memory returning in slow glimpses.
“I remember him being incredibly sweet. We just sat there and talked for a while. I can’t remember what about… but I do remember him being rather funny, and frankly, I don’t think any guy made me laugh as much as he did.”
She smiled brightly, but was slowly replaced by a frown.
“And then, his friend insisted on leaving, saying something about being pretty tired. He did look extremely out of it, but it seemed like the guy I was with didn’t want to go… and I didn’t want him to either. So, he excused himself and left. And there I was alone.”
(Name) stopped. She changed her attention to the outside, the curtains just open enough to see the bustling of the city. Nessa’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Then how did you end up with him?”
She slowly turned her head back to Nessa, but her eyes were still trained outside.
“I followed him out.”
Her eyes returned to Nessa.
“How? You said he left.”
“I sat there for a few minutes, contemplating on whether I should have gone or not. He did offer to take me home.”
“And he was still outside when you left?”
“Yeah… because he was waiting too. I guess he wanted me to follow… and I did.”
“And what about his friend?”
“I guess he got him a cab.”
“So… he just took you home?”
She paused. Then hummed in confirmation.
“Why?”
(Name) trained her eyes back to the outside, her face stoic as she absentmindedly continued to trace the rim of her glass.
“I don’t know. I was curious as to what he would do…”
Nessa’s eyes widened in horror. She opened her mouth to speak, but (name) beat her to it. She spoke quickly, just as fast as her head turned once again to Nessa.
“He took me home okay? I wanted him to. Sure, maybe I wasn’t in my right mind to make that decision, but I still went. And… he was sweet. Sure he took me home, but he made sure I was okay with everything he did…”
Then it all came flooding back.
There was the way their return to his home was almost silent, the soft sounds of lips tracing along different places on each other's faces and necklines. There was the way they exited their way of transportation, with hands wrapped tightly around the other as if either one let go, they would magically disappear. There was the way they entered his home, lips locked in such a passion that neither had ever experienced before. There was the difficulty to stay sane, with the warmth that they both emitted calling loudly to them in hopes of exiting their clothing as soon as possible. Then, there was the softness that they experienced as they explored each other, tender touches that were placed with each word of sweet praise. And to top it all, there was not only the lovely feeling of being at the top of the world, but there was warmth and the feeling of calmness as they laid in each others arms. Even with no strings attached, and knowing they were nothing to the other, there was still the feeling of closeness, and the slight tinge of what could be a grasp of love.
All of this was rushing into (name)’s mind, but there was no way she could express this to her friend. She realized that this was hers, and perhaps she would keep it that way. And perhaps she might never see the beautiful stranger that she spent a lovely night with again, but that would not stop her from hoping. She would never regret what she did, because if she did, she would have to live with that burnden for the rest of her life, and perhaps keeping it as something she found wonderful was the best thing she could ask for.
“Look, it’s okay. I’ve done this before --”
“I know you’ve done this before! And you really shouldn’t!”
(Name) sighed. She looked to Nessa with a slight look of sadness.
“Yeah. I know. Don’t you think I know that? It’s just -- It’s hard. No one ever seems to care about me. I can’t ever find anyone to care. But--but this time was different! I--I know it was. He was different. Out of all the guys I’ve found myself with, he was the one who seemed like he cared the most. He was soft and only did what I was comfortable with, and he was so sweet and...” -- Nessa’s expression softened, a look of pity now etched onto her features -- “...and maybe I’m wrong! Maybe… maybe you’re right! Maybe he was just using me. Acting like he was wonderful just to get what he wanted…” she gasped, looking away as her eyes glossed over. “Oh geez. Why am I so stupid?”
Her hand flung to her face, as she started to cry. It hurt her more than anything to see that not only had she been played, but that she had always been playing herself. All the times she found herself in someone else’s bed made the feeling of loneliness grow more and more. She knew she didn’t need anyone to please her, but she wanted something. Something real. Not just something that lasted only a night. And this, this thought only made her cry even harder.
As for Nessa, the growing pity grew within her. She had no idea how to comfort her because she knew deep down that she could never understand what her friend really wanted. She could never grasp the empty feeling that lay inside her. The only way of comfort she knew was to sit beside her and let her cry. A soothing hand was placed on her shoulders, and she waited for her to calm a bit.
“I’m sorry (nickname),” she finally mustered to say, “I know that you feel like this, but I don’t think you should worry about it too much. Don’t you remember? You’re a strong, independent girl who don’t need no man. So…”
Her words trailed into nothingness. She knew she wouldn’t be able to say anything else that would help. Only time could tell what (name) would do next, and honestly it frightened her. She didn’t want her friend to do anything irrational. She didn’t want her to make a decision that could lead to something she didn’t want. She cared about her too much. And so, with all the love she had for her, she decided to put it upon herself to help her out. To give her someone she herself could approve of. But… who?
~~~
It had been a few weeks since that morning. A few weeks since (name) had cried over the realization of her loneliness. A few weeks since Nessa decided to take it upon herself to find someone sufficient for (name)’s needs.
It was easy enough finding people for her, as being a gym leader led to knowing a lot of people. She had set (name) up with the leader of Turrfield, her close friend Milo. She knew his sweet nature would perhaps draw some interest out of her roommate, but with one date, it seemed she was not keen to approve. Nessa had no idea why of course but… that was because she thought she didn’t. She did, however, secretly know (name) wouldn’t settle unless she knew the guy she had spent that night with was completely gone from her life. It also didn’t help that she had no idea what his name was, or how she could find him. So, the only way to help her forget about him, was to find someone new. Someone who could give her something she wanted.
Nessa had tried several times to no avail, setting (name) up with some of her other gym leader friends that she knew. Apparently Gordie was much too overbearing and cocky, while Piers was too shy and soft spoken. Nessa even was able to get her a date with the unbeatable champion himself, but it seemed as if she was as uninterested in him as she was in the rest.
Nessa was bound to give up, until Leon reminded her of the other eligible gym batchelor. Even if she did remember the dragon tamer, she wasn’t sure if she was all too crazy with allowing her best friend to go out with someone like Raihan. Sure, she knew he was extremely sweet, but the feral way he battles has always rubbed her the wrong way. Sure, that’s just his style, and maybe she shouldn’t judge, but she wasn’t sure. Nonetheless, she had to try once more, at least for her friend.
“Hey (nickname), so I was thinking… maybe you can give Raihan a shot?” Nessa asked. The two were stationed in the kitchen, (name) sitting on the counter being completely unproductive while Nessa prepared dinner for the evening.
“No.”
Nessa spun quickly, probably the fastest she’s ever turned before.
“No? Why not!?”
“Because I don’t want to. I’m tired of all the people you’ve been setting me up with,” she sighed, and jumped off of the counter, “maybe I’ll just go back to the bar and drown my sorrows… and maybe make another bad decision to hook up with some rando. That always makes me feel better.”
The sarcasm was thick in her voice. It made Nessa cringe at the thought.
“Please. Don’t do that.”
(Name) waved her hand in dismissal.
“Yeah, yeah. I know. I won’t… not now at least.”
She opened the fridge, looking for nothing in particular, then closed it again.
“(Name).”
A snicker.
“I’m serious though. Give Raihan a shot. You might like him.”
“Oh like how I ‘might like’ the other guys you set me up with? Yeah no thanks.”
“(Nickname), you didn’t even give them a chance!”
“Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. Why should it matter?” -- she returned to her seat on the counter -- “You’re curry’s burning.”
Nessa gasped, turning back to the stove to turn it off. She shook her head then continued to speak.
“Look. If you go out with him, I promise I’ll stop. If you don’t like him then that’s the end. I’ll admit defeat, and call it the end of me helping you with your dating life. But don’t come crying to me when you find yourself in another situation that won’t lead you to something you want.”
She looked back for an answer, finding (name) picking at her fingernails.
“Fine. I’ll go.”
~~~
By the next day, (name) found herself sitting alone at the Hulbury Seafood Restaurant, glancing out of the glass windows at the harbor below. It was a lovely view. The sky was clear save a few clouds, and the lighthouse looked as nice as always. Even Nessa’s gym could be seen in all of its glory. The boats at doc bobbed up and down, and the quiet, uninteresting view made the staring outside rather boring. She sighed, placing her hand under her chin to hold it up. She had been waiting for a while now, and felt that this Raihan guy was probably never coming. She was just about to slide out of her seat when she heard a slightly familiar voice.
“Mind if I sit?”
She moved her head to face the voice, and just like that her eyes grew wide and her heart began to race. She swallowed, nodded, a shy chuckle coming from the man as he sat across from her.
“Sorry, I’m so late… I just…. Um….”
He stared at her for a few moments, not knowing how to continue. There was an awkward air about them, but she finally spoke.
“S-so… you’re Raihan… right?”
“Yeah…. And you’re…. (name)?’
“Yeah…”
Another long pause. Both eyes looking elsewhere.
“Why did you leave?”
She looked back to him.
“Huh?”
“You know what I mean….”
She looked at him with her eyebrows knit together, feigning confusion just to see how he would continue. He sighed, and ran a hand across his face. He looked outside again, trying his best to hide his embarrassment.
“I-I mean, I woke up and you, well I mean you weren't there, and… gosh I’m so sorry,” he apologized with his hands covering his face. It was silent for a moment, then she let out a laugh.
“It’s… okay. It’s not your fault. I was the one --”
“But it is my fault. I shouldn’t have taken advantage of you like that. I… well I mean, I knew you were drunk but I still took you home with me and I knew I shouldn’t have, but you were just so amazing so I figured how could I not. But then I saw that you left and wondered why and then I realized you must have been so confused and --”
Another laugh. He stopped. His face was even more red than before.
“Look it’s really okay. It’s not your fault. I went along ---”
“But I insisted --”
“You did no such thing. I--”
“But I did!”
“No you did not! You left me remember? I followed you on my own accord.”
He opened his mouth again, but stopped. He looked off in thought, then his eyes widened in realization.
“Yeah but that’s because I waited for you…”
She shook her head.
“And I followed because I wanted you.”
Silence.
They both just stared at the other. Then he spoke.
“You did?”
A nod.
He smiled.
“Y’know, you’ve been stuck in my head for I don’t know how long. I mean, when I first met you, I thought you were something, but then when we were together? You-- I--I just found you so wonderful and --”
“You did?”
“Huh? Um… yeah…”
Another pause. He looked embarrassed again.
“I thought you were too…”
“You… did?”
She hummed in response, then continued to say, “And… aha, and that’s why I went with you… because I found you so confusingly different, that I had to… um stay with you.”
“Then why did you leave?”
The initial question had returned. This time, it was easy to respond.
“Because…. I was scared. How was I supposed to know you felt the same way? That’s why--”
“That’s why you should have stayed.”
She stared at him for a moment.
“Don’t you think I wanted to? I really did. But, I mean, how was I supposed to know? I was in someone else’s room, and… it scared me. So I panicked. And I saw you, someone I didn’t know, and my head was pounding and --”
“No, you’re right. I’m sorry. I should have expected that. I just really hoped it wouldn’t, and it ended up happening. And it does make sense because, it is true that we don’t know each other. Like, at all…” he said, softly. He slowly reached out and grabbed her hand, holding it tenderly in his. “So…. why don’t we start over. And maybe we can get to know each other properly this time?”
She looked to their intertwined hands, feeling the same sort of heat that she felt all those weeks ago. She smiled.
“I would love to.”
“Hey babe?” You heard Tom call me from the living room. You made my way from the backyard with Tessa into the house, “What’s up?” You made my way over to Tom, who was sitting on the couch, phone in hand. “So, I just got off the phone with my mum, and she wanted to know when we could go over for dinner with the family”
You and Tom have been together for about 4 months now and he has met your family, but you have yet to meet his. Surprisingly, because he’s such a family oriented guy, but he wanted you to meet them when everyone could get together and not have to introduce you in droves. Quarantine had lifted a bit, therefore it seemed like a good time to meet them.
“How about Saturday night? Does that work for them?” Tom has told you countless stories about his family and you were excited to meet them, however as expected, you were nervous. Their opinion of you would certainly influence Tom if they didn’t like you or didn’t deem you good for him but you tried shaking off the nerves. Tom smiled and said he’d let him mum know.
About an hour later you were making some pasta for dinner when you felt Tom wrap his arms around your waist from behind. “Did you have a good nap?” “Mhm” he mumbled into your neck where his head was currently resting. You chuckled at him and told him to set the table because dinner was almost done. He took some plates and cutlery into the dining room while you finished up dinner.
After dinner, you were picking at a hangnail on your left hand and figured you should get a manicure before going to Tom’s parents on Saturday. You settled into Tom’s side on the couch deciding to go to the nail salon tomorrow.
The following day you made your way to the nail salon and picked out a pale blue color before sitting. The nail technician got started on your nails before a woman with bright red hair neatly tucked into a low bun was seated next to you. As she sat she smiled at you (through her mask!) As her nail tech got started on her nails. You glanced over and saw she was getting your favorite shade of red. “That’s got to be my favorite color, it’ll look very nice” you said to her politely. She smiled at you again and said “Thank you dear, your color is lovely as well” “Thank you” you laughed lightly. You and the woman who said her name was Nikki, made light conversation the entire time at the salon. Before you knew it, your nails were dry and you should be getting back to Tom’s house. “It was lovely to meet you, good luck meeting your son’s girlfriend, I'm sure it will go well!” She thanked you and wished you the same with your boyfriend’s family. Little did you know, you were the girlfriend she was referring to.
Saturday came and you were getting more nervous as the time got closer to 7pm. Tom sensed your nerves and tried to calm you down, reminding you about how nervous he was to meet your family and how you told him he had nothing to worry about. You both arrived a couple minutes before 7 and Tom grabbed your hand and gave it a kiss. “They’re going to love you, Darling. There’s nothing to be nervous about, I promise” You smiled at his words, knowing he was trying to ease your anxiety, even if it didn’t work. You took a deep breath and made your way out of the car and up the front steps. As you were about to knock, Tom opened the door letting you both in. Scoffing at his lack of hospitality, you followed him in.
“Mum! Dad! Anyone!” Tom yelled throughout the house, rounding the corner was a boy who couldn’t be more than 15 years old. He came right up to you and gave you a hug. “Hi i’m Paddy” “Hi Paddy it’s very nice to meet you” “You too Y/N! Tom doesn’t stop talking about you” You looked over at Tom who wasn’t meeting your eye contact and blushing “Fuck off Paddy” Tom said before grabbing Paddy in a chokehold, Paddy fighting him but failing miserably as Tom has inches and weight overpowering him. “Put him down now Thomas” you heard a familiar voice come from behind you. Your eyebrows knitted together before turning around.
You were faced with the woman you spent an hour at the nail salon the other day talking to. “Oh my gosh, Nikki?” “Y/N? Oh my goodness how did I not connect the dots earlier” you both burst out laughing and hugged each other. “It’s nice to meet you properly” you said before glancing at Tom and Paddy who looked like they had just seen an elephant give birth. “Wait, hold on, explain?” Tom could barely get words out. Nikki laughed and explained how you too met at the nail salon the other day but didn’t realize who the other was. Tom shook his head and laughed mumbling something about “small world”. Nikki took your coat and led you into the kitchen where you met Tom’s dad who was hilarious and very kind to you, making you feel very welcome.
You were in the kitchen with Tom and his parents, Paddy playing a video game in the living room when you heard the front door open and a bunch of commotion. Nikki rolled her eyes “That’ll be the boys” Harry, Sam and Harrison all came running into the kitchen but stopped short when they saw you and Tom. “SHIT I forgot this was tonight, Hi I’m Harry its lovely to finally meet you Y/N” Harry came over and gave you a hug, “Nice to meet you as well”. Next was Sam who was much more of a gentleman “Sorry about that, I’m Sam” he also hugged you which you returned. Harrison gave Tom a bro-hug then moved to you giving you a hug, “I’m Harrison, honorary member of the family, I feel like I already know you because this knob head doesn’t shut up about how great you are” he pointed at Tom when he said that which caused Tom to knock him upside the head. You all laughed and were being ushered by Nikki and Dom to sit at the table because dinner was ready.
Dinner went relatively fast, you became more comfortable with his family the more you talked to them and realized that Tom was right when he said you had nothing to worry about. After spending 4 hours at their home you and Tom decided it was time to call it a night. You hugged everyone goodbye and they all said you had to come back soon and it was great meeting you. Nikki walked you both to the door and hugged you goodbye.
“What a small world huh Y/N, please come back soon we loved having you” “Thank you Nikki, maybe you guys can come to Tom’s soon and I can cook for you all” “That would be lovely, get home safe you two” “Bye mum” Tom kissed his mother on the cheek before following you out to the car. “Told you you had nothing to worry about, everyone loved you” He kissed you before opening the passengers side door. You smiled, relieved and excited for this chapter of your life.
I think we should get together now
Catradora, BG Scorfuma.
Summary: Karaoke AU. The only thing is that Catra and Adora never met, and there was no war.  Scorpia and Perfuma host a (couples) karaoke night. Catra gets jealous. Between singing a song or be subject to a penalty? Fine, she’ll sing a stupid song.
AN: This has been heavily inspired by @ CambieArt 's tweet about which songs Adora and Catra would sing to each other during a Karaoke session. She makes good art too, so feel free to check her out!
I also died from embarrassment writing this.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The blinking of the traffic lights, the smoky, dusty street lights were something Catra was used to. The thudding of bass from bars blasting music, the edgier, grittier music she had grown up with.
But not now. She had been dragged into the heart of the city of Etheria. The fluorescent glare of neon pink and yellow dazzled her, and she scowled. Everything was so… poppy here. Even the bars! It was, as Lonnie would have called it, a “bastardized fusion of jazz and pop”. Catra was beginning to regret joining Scorpia.
But that was what friends were for. If Scorpia needed a wingwoman for her date, Catra would gladly accompany her. A bright blue hologram flashed up, an advertisement for some fizzy beverage from Dryl. Catra weaved past the diverse crowd, grumbling under her breath as she followed her communications pad. Scorpia had dropped her the venue address, but this district - well, everything nearing Bright Moon City was just so confusing.
The roads in the Fright Zone, and even Dryl, were crooked and winding, but so much easier to distinguish from each other. The layout in Bright Moon though, was repetitive, grids and grids of identical buildings and crossings.
Catra growled as she passed by a familiar statue of what looked like a tall, muscular athlete in a tight costume. She had a ponytail flowing behind her, frozen in this marvellous pose.  ‘Mara, Our Hero’ it read.
“Not again.” Catra sighed. It was the city probably. Navigational systems functioned poorly in areas of congestion. It was a bloody miracle how she made her way here.
‘I’m at the Mara statue. How! Do! I! Reach! The! Enchanted! Grotto?!!!?!’ She typed out a message to Scorpia, hissing when a beep alerted her of Scorpia’s rapid response. How did she even type with her claws?
‘ Whih? ’
Frustrated, Catra swept her hair back and sighed, looking around.
‘ w, there arr 10 Mara statuesd ’
‘You have got to be kidding me!!!’
‘ Whoopd, 20 Maras tautes ’
Catra clenched her fists and took a deep breath, finding a safe space to calm down. 20 statues around Bright Moon City?! If they were supposed to be landmarks, they had failed. If she had been winding around a single Mara statue, it would have been fine. But 20!? She could have been walking around the entire city and not realise it.
She switched to the navigational app. Curses. Her icon flickered and jumped from location to location, eventually settling in a blue blob marked as a lake. Her eyebrow twitched. She was this close to flinging her pad at the floor.
“Scorpia can handle it.” She grunted, as she looked around cluelessly, trying to find a sign, anything that could guide her to the Enchanted Grotto. She had never been to Bright Moon much. Seen it on her screens, yes. Seen more of it on Entrapta’s screens, yes. But Bright Moon was unfamiliar territory. She definitely wasn’t scared. Nope, just uncomfortable with how bright and loud everything was. Okay, she had to do this. It was simple.
Catra took a deep breath, patted her shirt and pants, and approached the first stranger she saw. A young girl with a bright pink shirt with ‘Kawaii AF’ smacked across, in even horribly brighter pink. She wore a skirt and black leggings, and had her hair tied in two buns.
“Hey! Where’s the Enchanted Grotto?” She asked, realising how small this creature was.
The creature blinked at her once, twice, then grinned. Catra thought she saw a creepily long tongue slither out. Probably not.
“I know where it is! I can lead you there!” She beamed, and Catra raised an eyebrow. Suspiciously bubbly. Eh, any help was appreciated.
“Heh. Great. Where to?” She followed the stranger from a distance, looking around for any other paths. She wasn’t going to be blindly led into an alleyway for a mugging. And even if she did, she would hold her ground. It would be a great tale to tell when she finally arrived at her destination.
“Uh, hell no.” A stern voice cut through them, and a hand extended, separating Catra from the small pink creature. “Double Trouble, cut this out.” It was a girl, and her body followed her arm, becoming a barricade between Catra and … Double Trouble?
“Aww, but I was having so much fun!” Double Trouble winked at Catra. “Maybe I’ll see you again, Kitten.” They slinked off, pink visage blending with the crowd.
“Whew, that was a close one.”
“What?!” Catra frowned, as the female in front of her turned around. She had blonde hair tied up in a ponytail. A white long sleeved shirt was partially covered by a half-sleeve red jacket. Grey pants accentuating muscular legs followed down, and Catra realised she was checking out a complete stranger. She brought her eyes back up, hoping she had not been caught.
“Yeah, Double Trouble doesn’t mean harm, they just like dragging people around Bright Moon like a tour guide. You’re looking for the Enchanted Grotto? I can take you there.”
“I could have handled that myself!” Catra spat out, furious. The adorable snort mixed with laughter from the girl killed her anger instantly.
“Of course you could. I’m Adora. I can bring you there.”
‘Oh. OH.’ Catra smacked herself. Adora. Relative of Mara. The Adora. The same Adora she had been stalking online. Seeing her in real life… was really different. A good different. Without filters and angled shots, Adora looked… real.
“Catra.” Catra stuttered out, and froze when Adora grabbed her wrist.
“I’m headed there too, what a coincidence.” Adora grinned, a real, sincere grin, not what Double Trouble had presented. “So, Catra, what brings you to the Enchanted Grotto? It’s a very niche place.”
Catra tried to focus on walking. ‘Left foot. Right foot. Adora is holding my wrist, fuck, fuck fuCK! Left foot? Or was it right?’
“Catra?” Adora turned around to check on her companion once they reached a crosswalk.
“Hnh, yeah.” Catra’s brain struggled to think of something, grasping at anything she could use to hide the fact that she totally did not hear what Adora was saying. Her eyes landed on yet another familiar sight.
“Hey Adora,” Catra squirmed internally as she almost purred out Adora’s name. That was not supposed to happen! “Why are there so many statues of Mara, they got me lost.”
Adora laughed, and used her free hand to point to where Catra had laid her eyes on. “That’s the Mara statue of Hope. I met you near the statue of heroism. There’s an inscription reading ‘Mara, Our Hero’. Each Mara statue has a similar inscription, except the statue of friendship. It reads ‘Friend Of Mara’. Mara actually looks towards different directions. It’s supposed to guide us around.”
“Well, it clearly didn’t work.” Catra muttered, and wished her fur wasn’t so sweaty. She swore Adora’s hand slid down for a moment.
“Oh, green light, we gotta go.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Catra’s communication pad had been silenced, but was vibrating furiously near her rear pocket. It had caught Adora’s attention as they walked from the bustling streets to a quieter pathway.
“Hey, your… butt is vibrating?” Adora cocked an eyebrow at Catra.
“It’s called a communication pad, genius.” Catra rebutted, and whipped the small device (modified courtesy of Entrapta) out, detaching her wrist from Adora’s grip. A regrettable decision.
“What?!” She answered, crankier than usual. Adora kept an eye on her, switching between several awkward poses to rest her now very empty hands.
“ Catra, where are you? Perfuma is going to show up anytime soon! ” Catra noticed Adora’s hands shifting from her hips to being folded, her biceps and triceps flexing with that change.
“Then let her! I’m on my way!” Catra hissed as Adora’s hands drifted back down, her fingers tucking into the belt around her pants.
“ But the surprise will be ruined! ”
“Surprise?” Catra frowned. “Scorpia, what do you me-”
“ Oops, I didn’t say anything! See you, Wildcat! ”
As much as that nickname brought a smile to Catra’s face, she rolled her eyes at Scorpia’s panic. A surprise, huh? She forgot all about it when Adora’s fingers wrapped around her wrist again.
“We’re almost there.” Adora stated as Catra slipped the block back into her pocket. “I’m really curious though.” Catra felt Adora’s eyes on her entire body. “I had no idea… Well, here’s the Enchanted Grotto.”
Adora waved at a group of people outside what seemed like a rundown, dead shop. The windows were pitch dark, but as they neared the building, she could make out some sort of weird singing and music blasting from speakers. Heh, the perks of having heightened senses.
“Hey guys!”
“Adora!” the group, consisting of three individuals waved back.
“I see you made a new friend.” The tallest of the trio, a boy with dark hair, a clean undercut, and a tight muscle shirt waggled his eyebrows. “I’m Bow, nice to meet you!”
Behind him was a shorter female, her hair dyed(?) a shade between pink and purple, seemingly glittering as the sole lamppost hovered above her. Clad in a loose, sleeveless outfit, she was engaged in a whispered conversation with another female.
“Perfuma!” Adora waved, trying to get her attention. “Meet Catra!”
“Catra?” Bow’s head could have snapped with that speed, switching between Catra and Adora abruptly. “Catra?”
“Yep, that’s my name.” Catra crossed her arms. “Got a problem with it?”
“No! Not at all!” Bow shook his head, hands in front of him in a defensive stance. Catra immediately pegged him down as a softie. Just like Scorpia.
“Bow!” Adora nudged her friend, and he shrugged. “Catra, these are my friends. Glimmer.”
The one with sparkling hair gave a curt wave..
Catra smirked. What an appropriate name. “Nice to meet you, Sparkles.”
“It’s Glimmer.” she corrected, and Adora released Catra’s wrist. Again. “This is-”
“Perfuma.” Catra and Perfuma said in unison, and relaxed their tense postures.
“Yes, you’re acquainted.” Adora mumbled, and Glimmer wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into the establishment.
“It is nice to see you again, Catra. I hope you will enjoy this evening.” Perfuma smiled, and Catra gave a generic response absent mindedly, eyes fixed on Adora and Glimmer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside the Enchanted Grotto, things were very different. They had stepped past a screen of magic properties, which had blocked out most of the noise coming from within.
The whole group seemed familiar with the place, waving to the staff and strolling in with a sense of confidence. Except Catra. She didn’t hate it, surprisingly. The decor was pleasant. The whole floor was dimly lit, save a few brighter bulbs along a separate corridor. There was a main stage, and a few tables scattered before it.
Instrumental music was blasting, and a man was belting out a cheesy love song on stage. He was practically wailing the high notes into the microphone, and Catra winced as she shuffled along to the brighter bulbs.
Bow was behind all of them, herding them towards a private room. The bulbs in the corridor led to a quieter, secluded lobby, different coloured lights hanging before different doors.
“The Red Garnet.” Perfuma squealed, and pranced towards the red light.
“You know, not everyone approves of this place. Some even disapprove of it.” Bow whispered to Catra, and she shot him a questioning look.
“The folk here are what some consider to be… different.” Bow explained.
Catra thought about Scorpia and Perfuma. Or Adora and Glimmer. Could it be? They were about to enter the room, and she wanted to get an answer from Bow.
“Is it because Bright Moon doesn’t support G-”
“Group Karaoke! You’re absolutely right!” Bow clapped Catra on the back, and she nearly fell over.
“Group Karaoke?” There was no time to process her thoughts and Bow’s statement, as she tripped straight into the private room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, she regained her balance, turning an unsightly fall into a proper entrance. As proper as a very wide stride could get. Her eyes, luckily, adjusted to the lighting quickly, and she spotted Scorpia in the corner, Perfuma already by her side.
“Oh hey, Wildcat.” Scorpia had that look. THAT LOOK! Catra was familiar with it. Everytime Scorpia had something up her sleeve (an ironic phrase, as Scorpia wore sleeveless clothing exclusively), she had that look of guilt. She couldn’t hide it, and it was a telling sign.
“Scorpia!” Catra lunged forward, squeezing Scorpia towards Perfuma, and lodging herself in the corner. The couch rounded into a three-quarter, with Adora and Glimmer sitting on the other end. Bow found his spot between Perfuma and Glimmer, looking at everyone excitedly.
“You knew about this, didn’t you. I really overshare sometimes!” Catra hissed into Scorpia’s ear, and Scorpia laughed nervously.
“They’re friends of Perfuma!” Scorpia protested, as Catra narrowed her eyes.
“ She ’s a friend of Perfuma. And you didn’t tell me!” Catra gritted her teeth. “And they didn’t post pictures online?”
“They did! You just don’t follow Perfuma.” Scorpia pouted, and Catra gave up.
“Fine, my bad. Say, you never told me what’s going on.”
“Oh.” Scorpia looked genuinely surprised. “Oh.”
“GROUP KARAOKE!” Bow yelled, opening the wooden box in front of them, revealing 2 wireless microphones.”
“I thought he was joking!” Catra groaned, and buried her face into her hands.
“There, there.” Scorpia patted her with her heavy claws, and Catra choked.
“Alright, you know the drill, guys. Everyone has to sing a song.”
Perfuma cheered, and Bow continued, “No singing, and you get a penalty issued by all members present.”
“This is horrible.” Catra moaned.
“As we all know, we have two new participants joining us today! Perfuma’s girlfriend, the lovely powerhouse Scorpia!”
Scorpia waved as Perfuma leaned into her.
“And Scorpia’s friend, and also, Adora’s new friend, Catra! She appears in Scorpia’s feed so much!”
Bow was dragged down by both Glimmer and Adora, unintelligible muffles unable to be deciphered. Catra looked at Scorpia, who evaded her gaze, crossing over to sit between Perfuma and Bow instead.
“Wow, look at that, I’m going to sing first!” She reached for the microphone, aided by Perfuma. The rest cheered her on.
Catra sank back into the couch, training her gaze on Adora and Glimmer. Were they…?
Adora was leaning against Glimmer, who was patting her hand. The same hand that held Catra’s wrist.
“Ew! Adora, your hand’s all sweaty.” Glimmer complained, and Adora blushed.
“Sickening.” Catra muttered, her eyes refusing to leave them. Her ears however, had shifted to appreciate Scorpia’s amazing singing. Damn, she knew her friend could sing, but ever since she moved to Plumeria, she had not had a chance to hear her strong vocals. Scorpia was a completely different person in her element, full of raw confidence, charm, and even some cockiness as she winked in the middle of her song. Perfuma swooned and even Catra could see why Scorpia had won her over.
Bow was next, belting out a song about friendship, with Glimmer joining in. Catra however, was still focused on Adora.
The same Adora who held her hand and made her heart skip a bit, made her feel giddy. The same Adora who snorted in such a cute manner. The same Adora whom she had stalked online, with so much determination Scorpia had suggested Catra make a move. Catra had refused, of course, instead scrolling her feed of Adora’s pictures. The professional athlete, relative of Mara (effectively making her a princess of Etheria), was actually in the same room as her.
AND FLIRTING WITH GLIMMER, APPARENTLY! Catra growled at the last thought, causing Perfuma to look at her with alarm.
Bow ended his song with a deep bow, passing the microphone to Adora.
“Uh, not now.” Adora looked at Perfuma desperately.
“We all know I like to end Karaoke sessions with heavy metal.” Perfuma took the other microphone. “I think we should let Catra sing.” she smiled at the astonished girl.
“Absolutely not!” Catra pushed the microphone away.
“Penalty! Penalty!” Bow chanted, and Scorpia joined in.
“Catra’s penalty should be to go out on a date with someone we choose.” Perfuma clapped her hands together, and Catra balked at the suggestion.
“Penalty! Penalty!” Bow resumed, and Catra felt betrayed by Adora’s addition to the cheer.
“Fine, fine!” She snatched the microphone, and the controls. “I’ll sing a stupid song!”
Scorpia actually lifted Catra with her claw, shifting her to the middle of the couch.
“Urgh! Why are all the songs so old?!” Catra grimaced.
“That’s what’s so great about the Enchanted Grotto!” Bow gave her a thumbs up.
From the corner of her eye, Catra caught Glimmer whispering into Adora’s ear, and they both giggled, Adora snorting again. Alright, that was the last straw. A familiar song was an easy choice, although Catra barely remembered the lyrics. She only remembered her preteen self being fuelled with a sense of rebellious courage and the melody of the song.
“Oooh, bold choice.” Scorpia pushed Catra up, and she responded with an angry yowl. “Go get her, Wildcat! I mean, er, go get ‘em, Wildcat!”
The mini stage had a mic stand, which Catra ignored. A display in front of her lit up, the lyrics appearing with a countdown. Ah yes, those familiar words. Just like how she remembered.
As the background music started, Catra smirked, her usual confidence returning in a snap.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don't like your girlfriend
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I could be your girlfriend
She saw Glimmer’s eyes widen, and Bow’s jaw drop. Heh. The lyrics were… more embarrassing than she remembered, but what the hell, she was already going with it. Perfuma and Scorpia actually joined in the background
Hey! Hey! You! You!
Catra smirked, looking directly at Adora
I know that you like me
Oh shit, she was mouthing the lyrics and staring at Catra
No way! No way!
You know it's not a secret
Catra turned back to the mini screen, glancing at the lyrics.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I want to be your girlfriend
Oh god, what was her preteen self doing? Not looking at the lyrics, for sure.
You're so fine, I want you mine, You're so delicious
Not a lie.
I think about you all the time, You're so addictive
Don't you know what I can do to make you feel all right?
Her mind worked quickly as she changed the lyrics
Don't pretend, I think you know I'm damn precious
And hell yeah, you’re my mother fucking princess
Catra enjoyed how Adora’s blank stare evolved to a blush. Hell yeah!
I can tell you like me too, and you know I'm right
Glimmer let out a “whoo!”, fist pumping along to the beat. Heh, maybe it was her preteen anthem as well.
She's like, so whatever
You can do so much better
As the hook rounded to the chorus, everyone was cheering now. Except Adora. And of course, the adrenaline and defiance egged her on, as she took a step off the stage and towards Adora, practically stalking around her with the aura of a predator.
I think we should get together now
She looked at Adora with sultry eyes (Glimmer would describe it as bedroom eyes later), and Adora let out a strained gurgle. Catra pushed off, leaping back onto the elevated platform.
And that's what everyone's talking about
She repeated the chorus again, her preteen self roaring with pride. She licked her lips, deciding to strike again.
I can see the way, I see the way you look at me
And even when you look away, I know you think of me
I know you talk about me all the time again and again
She pointed at Adora, curling her finger towards her.
So come over here and tell me what I wanna hear
Adora actually nodded dumbly, almost rising from her seat.
Or better, yet, make your girlfriend disappear
I don't wanna hear you say her name ever again
Her steely glare at Glimmer was met with a bewildered look and a high pitched “I’m not?!”
Catra rolled her eyes, grinning triumphantly at that realisation. The next verse meant nothing, but she was way too pumped up.
Because
She's like so whatever
You can do so much better
I think we should get together now
And that's what everyone's talking about
She entered the chorus again, Bow joining Scorpia and Perfuma in yelling the alternate chorus verses.
Uh!
Adora wiped at her mouth at that sound as Catra started the bridge.
In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger
'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better
Catra was now brimming with an absurd assertiveness, bending over the stage to meet Adora’s eyes.
There's no other, so when's it gonna sink in
She's so stupid, what the hell were you thinking?
Adora looked away quickly, her head turned but her eyes still darting back to the stage.
In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger
Adora yelped as her chin was grabbed suddenly, pulled back to look at Catra who was right in front of her.
'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better
There's no other, so when's it gonna sink in
She's so stupid, what the hell were you thinking?
Glimmer joined in the chorus now, sliding beside Bow. Their fingers intertwined, raised as they sang the background vocals.
The chorus seemed to repeat itself forever, and Catra could do nothing but lean in real close to Adora while singing. As she approached the last verse of the chorus, she switched off the mic, leaving the ensemble chanting.
I want to be your girlfriend
She softly finished the song, her breath tickling Adora’s now bright red ear.
Hey Hey!
The rest finished, and the music died, slamming them back into reality.
Catra was now panting from her performance, and strangely, Adora was as well.
“Pee break?” Bow jumped up and nearly ran into the door trying to get out.
“Uh, right. Pee breaks. Be back in five.” Glimmer hugged Perfuma and Scorpia, and teleported out in a shimmer.
“Uh. Huh. Mmm.” Adora babbled, looking at Catra’s face.
“Oh my god, I’m an idiot.” Catra pushed off the couch, releasing Adora from that pin. “I’m sorry.”
“Oh no!” Adora stood up, grabbing onto Catra’s wrist again. “Don’t be?”
Catra realised it wasn’t her wrist and fur being sweaty all along.
“So, er, yeah.” Adora covered the bottom half of her face, doing little to hide her blush. Not that it was obvious with the lighting.
“Huh?”
“You want to be my girlfriend?”
“Oh hell yeah.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Epilogue:
“I’ve actually been following you on some pages with my personal account.” Catra admitted.
“What? I’ve been trying to find it since forever!” Adora pouted, ruffling Catra’s short hair. “Catra! What’s your account name?”
Catra paused, giving into Adora’s pets and scratches near her jawline.
“Tell me~”
“Only if you kiss me.” Catra grumbled and Adora gave her a short, swift peck.
“That totally didn’t count.” Catra huffed, and Adora placed both hands on Catra’s cheeks. “Tongue and we’ll talk.”
“Is it AdoraFan01? Or WatermelonCrusher? Or TinyBaby4Adora?”
“Hey!” Catra yelled before Adora pressed their lips together, tongue sliding in with Catra’s gasp. Catra gave in completely, Adora licking her lips in victory when they parted.
“Fine.” Catra passed her her pad.
“You can’t be serious.”
Catra rolled her eyes and groaned.
“Yes, I’m ApplesauceMeowMeow”
Amethyst Rae
Ya’ll this line is really consuming my life lmfao.  When this line was initially shown, Amethyst Rae was automatically my least favorite because I hate thatched bangs, but after seeing some photos of her I fell in love.  Her outfit is by far the best of the set, I love every piece and the spiked Mary-Janes are a LOOK. So of course I had to get her, I ordered on Amazon and hoped I would get her instead of another Blue, and not only did i get her but her face looks perfect. I’m really impressed by the level of QC on these dolls so far! I was really happy to also find that her fringe was very well cut, and looked even better after a wash and condition:
Tumblr media
I was originally going to curl them, but they’re so nice that I just left them. I did, however, have to change the rest of her hair style. it just looked so boring and meh in comparison to her outfit, especially when Rainbow and Blue have such gorgeous wavy locks.  I decided on this, and it looks amazing, especially with her whole outfit and the tats:
Tumblr media
STUNNING. I decided to spike the back of the buns up too instead of hiding it, for that 90′s look. She looks perfect to me now! Here’s a shot of her color blend:
Tumblr media
It’s a mix of purples and a silver shade to go with it. Absolutely beautiful! Also an obligatory photo of her amazing brows (with some hair in her face lol oops):
Tumblr media
Can MGA print my brows like this please?? lmfao??? Also since I forgot to post one for Rainbow, here’s the back of her head to show the blend:
Tumblr media
I didn’t even try to count the amount of shades she has in her hair bc it’s a LOT lmao. She’s like...the punky personification of the egg from The Barney Movie lol Now I’ve got to get Pixie Rose, I think I’ll do her hair in a similar way to Amethyst (without the bangs) because I feel her hairstyle is also a little boring. I wonder if I can remove the wheels from her skates. Absolutely in love with this line and I hope we get more next Fall! A neon green one would be amazing, and a pastel version of Rainbow!
Eminem Aims “Killshot” Straight At Machine Gun Kelly with Diss Track
Eminem just answered Machine Gun Kelly‘s “Rap Devil” diss track with his own “Killshot.” And, for anyone wondering how this all started in the first place — here we go.
Kamikaze unleashed a couple of weeks ago and nobody was off limits. From President Donald Trump to Tyler the Creator, Eminem had a lot of names to check off his list. One track in particular, “Not Alike” called out mumble rappers in general, naming Migos and Machine Gun Kelly in the mix.
The reality is, the history between these hip hop rivals goes back much farther than what we heard with “Not Alike” or MGK’s response, “Rap Devil.” Their beef started even before MKG called Em’s daughter “hot as f–k” when she was just 16 years old.
In a recent interview with Sway, Eminem reveals — “That’s not why I dissed him. The reason I dissed him is actually a lot more petty than that.”
“The reason that I dissed him is because he got on — first what he said ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45′ or whatever he said, right? Like I’m trying to hinder his career. I don’t give a f–k about your career. You think I actually f–king think about you? You know how many f–king rappers are better than you? You’re not even in the f–king conversation.”
Over the years, Slim Shady has called out countless public figures. That’s what he does. But, MGK just had to poke the bear. Listen to #KILLSHOT below and let us know who you think is winning this rap battle.
Eminem – KILLSHOT
Had enough of this tatted-up mumble rapper How the fuck can him and I battle? He’ll have to fuck Kim in my flannel I’ll give him my sandals ‘Cause he knows long as I’m Shady, he’s gon’ have to live in my shadow Exhausting, letting off on my offspring Like a gun barrel, bitch, get off me You dance around it like a sombrero, we can all see You’re fuckin’ salty ’cause young Gerald’s balls-deep inside of Halsey Your red sweater, your black leather You dress better, I rap better That a death threat or a love letter? Little white toothpick Thinks it’s over a pic, I just don’t like you, prick Thanks for dissing me Now I had an excuse on the mic to write, not alike But really, I don’t care who’s in the right But you’re losin’ the fight you picked Who else want it, Kells? Attempt fails, button, L’s Fuckin’ nails in these coffins as soft as Cottonelle Killshot, I will not fail, I’m with the Doc still But this idiot’s boss pops pills and tells him he’s got skills But Kells, the day you put out a hit’s the day Diddy admits That he put the hit out that got Pac killed, ah I’m sick of you bein’ whack And still usin’ that mothafuckin’ AutoTune, so let’s talk about it (let’s talk about it) I’m sick of your mumble rap mouth Need to get the cock up out it before we can even talk about it (talk about it) I’m sick of your blonde hair and earrings Just ’cause you look in the mirror and think you’re Marshall Mathers (Marshall Mathers) Don’t mean you are, and you’re not about it So just leave my dick in your mouth, and keep my daughter out it
[Outro] You fuckin’… oh And I’m just playin’, Diddy, you know I love you
Thank You, Happy Birthday - Eyes Like Kryptonite Ch.4
So I was super tired last night and I think i accidentally only posted half the story! Oops! That’s what I get for posting sleepy!
Anonymous Prompt: Lena doesn’t tell anyone it’s her birthday but on the day Winn who previously hacked Lena and knows all the info tells Kara to tell Lena happy birthday and Kara is annoyed she didn’t know but also determined to give Lena the best birthday ever.
Kara felt extra perky this morning - The yellow sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the winter air was crisp, and there was talk of a rare National City snow storm. It was a good day, a great day, the best day. Lena had stayed over at her apartment last night, an event that was becoming more and more common. Lena’s town car had dropped her off at CatCo first thing that morning, and Snapper had let her go with no more than a “Keep an ear out for any good stories.” And now she was at the DEO, where even J’onn’s cursory glare couldn’t dampen her mood. Winn was typing away at something she was sure only Alex or Lena would understand, and she took the seat beside him.
“What are you working on?“
“Lena suggested some new updates for your suit, and I was just running some algorithms before I made up the prototypes.”
“Ahh, cool. Sounds … complicated.“
Winn’s eyes lit up as he swiveled to face her.
“She has some spectacular ideas; if these work - which I’m sure they will cause she’s a genius - they could completely revolutionize the way you fight. I don’t know why I didn’t think of them in the first place.”
Kara couldn’t hold back the smile that threatened to split her face. Her best friend becoming best friends with her girlfriend gave her warm fuzzies.
“Well if you need me to hit the training room, test anything out, just let me know!“
“It’s still a few weeks out at least, but I’ll keep you posted.d”
He turned back to his computer and Kara quickly became bored with the numbers scrolling past the screen. She was too amped up to sit still for this long.
“I’m gonna go find Alex, maybe she has something for me to punch.”
Winn’s fingers wiggled in a half wave, and his eyes never left the computer screen when he responded.
“Hey, tell Lena I said Happy Birthday! I’m sure I won’t get to see her today - you’ve probably got ridiculous plans.“
Kara froze.
“What?”
“Tell Lena I said Happy Birthday.“
“Lena, who?”
Winn stopped typing and stared at her.
“Lena … Luthor? The only Lena I know? And also your girlfriend? Whose birthday it is today?“
Her shocked expression must have worried him.
“Did you just experience sudden amnesia? Do you know where you are? I should call Alex… ”
“Lena’s birthday is today?“
“Yes?” He stood slowly, hands twitching as if he wanted to reach out and touch her but was also slightly scared to.
“How do you know that?”
“Well, when I was doing all that research on her when we thought she was trying to kill you -”
“More importantly, why didn’t you tell me?!“
“I thought you knew! Birthdays are like your thing! And Lena’s your girlfriend, so I just assumed you knew!”
“She never said anything! And with the holidays and everything, I didn’t think to ask! Winn! What am I gonna do?! I need at least a month to plan! And now I have - “ She grabbed his arm and studied his watch. “- eight and a half hours to plan the most spectacular birthday surprise ever!“
“Kar, whatever you do, I’m sure she’ll love it. Like, you could just smile at her really big and she’d melt into a puddle.”
“Winn! Lena is - well she’s different - I can’t just- I have to - urgghhhh!!” She screeched in frustration and shot off, taking the quick exit through the skylight, spiraling into the skies of National City.
It was a quick flight to L-Corp, and she was grateful that Lena didn’t have any meetings planned until later. Her feet landed softly on the balcony, but Lena still turned, features lighting up when she saw Kara.
“Supergirl,” She greeted as Kara stepped inside. “To what do I owe the pleasure? I have a meeting in half an hour, but if you wanted to make out I could squeeze you in.”
Kara tried to ignore the way Lena’s eyes traced her suit, she knew that Lena kind of had a thing for her Super ego, and she fought the urge to take her girlfriend up on the offer. She was here on a mission.
“Actually, you’re in quite a bit of trouble.” She put her hands on her hips in that classic Supergirl pose.
“Trouble?” Lena’s eyes clouded briefly and then cleared, a sheepish grin spreading across her face. “Did I forget to rinse out my wine glass again? I know that’s a pet peeve of yours.“
Kara relaxed her stern posture, she didn’t want Lena thinking she was too mad, after all.
“No, it’s not the wine glass thing. That’s not a big deal, really.” She put her hands back on her hips. “But you could have told me it was your birthday!”
“Oh, well it was never a big deal at the orphanage, and then the Luthors were always busy; I haven’t really celebrated it since Lex … Anyway, it’s not a big deal - I promise.“
“It IS a big deal! It’s a huge deal! One of my favorite people in the world was born today!”
Lena blushed a pretty shade of red.
“I’m one of your favorite people?“
“Of course! You’re pretty close to the top of the list.”
“That’s probably the best birthday present anyone could ever get me.“
Their eyes locked and once again Kara was struck with how alone Lena was used to being.
“I wish you would have told me. I would have made you birthday pancakes!”
“You made me pancakes this morning!“
“Not birthday pancakes! Birthday pancakes have chocolate chips in them!”
Lena laughed, and Kara lost herself in the musical sound.
“How did we happen?“
“What?” Kara was confused at the sudden change of topic.
“A Super and a Luthor. What are the chances of us ending up together?”
Kara stepped forward, tucking the stray strand of hair that had fallen from Lena’s bun behind her ear.
“I don’t know, but I’m really glad we did.“
She felt the pull of those green eyes, but she forced herself to step away.
“What time are you getting off work today?”
“Six-thirty?“
“Can you make it six?”
“For you? Yes.“
“Good. I’ll pick you up.”
“Kara, you really don’t have to do anything, it’s just another day.“
“Lena.”
“Ok, ok.” The CEO held her hands up in a placating gesture. “I’ll be waiting.”
Kara leaned forward, giving Lena a quick peck on the lips before speeding away, leaving a smiling Lena staring out her balcony, fingers pressed to her lips.
Eight hours was not nearly enough for all that Kara wanted to do.
It was lucky she had super speed and could fly, otherwise she never could have pulled it together.
She showed up to Lena’s office at six o’clock on the dot, this time as Kara Danvers. Jess let her up right away, and Lena was just locking away her notebooks when she walked through the door.
“Ready to go?“
“Of course. I’m all yours.” Lena smiled at her, and for a brief moment she forgot what she was there for.
“You’re beautiful.”
“What?” Lena chuckled.
“You’re beautiful.” She carefully traced the curve of Lena’s jaw with her fingertip. “Stunningly, breathtakingly beautiful. And I’m so glad you’re in my life.“
“You, Kara Danvers, are a charmer.”
“It’s all the truth. And I hope that one day you believe me.“
“I hate to break the mood, but if you don’t whisk me away right now, we might not make it out of the building.”
“Right, right. Allow me.” She held out her arm to Lena and proceeded to walk them out to Lena’s town car. She opened the door for the CEO and then slid in after her.
“First, we have a glass of the newest red straight from your favorite vineyard. I talked them into bottling their next cask a little early.” She said, passing Lena a wine glass.
“My favorite vineyard is in France.”
“I know.” Kara winked knowingly.
“I’m impressed already!” Lena said, awed as she took a sip. “This is delicious!”
“Just wait for the rest of it!.“
It was 11:59 when Kara rolled onto her side to face Lena.
“Well, for the last time this year - Happy Birthday.”
“Thank you, this is by far the best birthday ever.” Lena remarked. “I don’t know how you’re ever going to top this next year.”
“I only had a few hours to plan this, usually it takes weeks, or at least a couple of days - I think I’ll manage.“
Lena cast a glace at the giant teddy bear propped up in the corner of the room.
“I still don’t understand how you managed to arrange all of this.”
“Super powers go a long way. Plus it’s amazing what people will do if you ask nicely.“
“Should have known, Kara, Sunny Danvers can get anything.”
“I got you, didn’t I?” She smarted off, feeling a little bit high from the blissful expression on Lena’s face.
“That you did,” Lena smiled and kissed her. “That you did.”
