Idea dumping again, and this one's AUing things up. Heading into XC3 during main story canon times.

Simple enough AU in theory. Swapping out the main Ouroboros cast for a gang of the heroes who seem to have suitable pair vibes; I'm sure someone's gonna have done exactly these characters in the past, tbh. But hoping to put a different spin on their journey around Aionios, especially now Future Redeemed's been a thing.

Ashera and Teach; Valdi and Alexandria; Zeon and Juniper. Let's go.

The first bit of AU shuffling here; the gang in question are not all commanders. In fact, it's possible that only Juniper is, or one other with them. This likely leads to a scenario where some Consuls in charge of various things are different, too; for example, Q isn't putting Valdi in charge of things to Do Levnises Good. N and M are still things, and I'm not planning on reallocating the letters E, T, L or S... (We need Triton around, c'mon. Though come to think of it, the S here might not be anyone we know. And quite possibly C and J ditto.)

The Kevesi trio are based out of one Colony, which might not be any of the canon ones (Ashera is a little tricky to place here but hey, we can fiddle with the concepts later). Teach and Alexandria, similarly, come from one Colony; possibly he was assigned to Iota following That Thing Oleg Did With Chi on the principle he'll be able to keep Alexandria from getting too big for her boots? Juniper is, however, still working out of Tau to begin with.

The group first get dragged into Ouroboros-hood via a mission in the Pentelas region; similarly to canon, the two sides are trying to retrieve an 'odd ether signature'. Juniper and a contingent from Tau are called in to help the Agnians navigate the Maktha area, while the Kevesi are more having to go it alone.

Don't you just hate it when a giant monkey interrupts your artifact finding quest? Thanks, Gonzales. The group of six eventually gets trapped with the Ouroboros Stone and a Lost Numbers rep who probably isn't Guernica (Gray, maybe?); some of the more responsible folks push for an uneasy truce until the gang can get out of there. In the meantime, though... Valdi. Valdi, no. Don't poke at the glowy object.

And the plot starts... whether or not a wild ride is involved. (Likely there's a Moebius to beat up on soon enough, but who it is I'm not sure.)

The new Ouroboros have an advantage in that they have more pieces of the puzzle as to who and what Moebius are, even starting off, than the canon group did. (Not sure at what stage they can identify them as Consuls, mind, even with Ashera's memory.) Unfortunately, the team are lacking in both a Lucky Seven- (Noah and Mio are... Uh. At a different stage in the cycle, right now :( ) and a Riku to try and keep an eye on whatever the heck they're doing. They do encounter four out of the original six as their own heroes, as well as various other familiar faces. However, they need other ways to try and free or improve things for their still-Clocked allies.

Teach and Ashera provide a lot of the big picture plotting and planning, even when Ashera does fall back into '... we stab things?' as part of that plot quite a lot. They're an unstable pair, but they at least balance out each other's bad habits into functionality when they settle into their positions.

Valdi and Alex tend towards 'it's so crazy it might work', with Valdi even putting together a cargo-mech to carry their stuff or the Stone with them. When they finally encounter Riku, the pair remind our favourite Common Nopon of Nikol and Glimmer somewhat even though they're unrelated... or perhaps they remind some City historians of their Founders? There's enough there to pull strings, at least. And maybe their plans are enough to disrupt Clock systems?

Zeon and Juniper are the most level headed of the group. Watching Juniper's Tau traditions and conventions gets them all thinking 'ok, but what if some of our stuff is equally artificial'... In the end, Juniper steps into the party offseer role; they might prefer to bury those who've been lost, but it would be worse to not do anything for the fallen at all. ... Sadly, this means Zeon himself doesn't get to farm any spuds. He finds City culture and history very interesting, eventually.

A different adventure, a different group, trying to avoid the classic 'let's follow the same old path' trope. And as for the long term... well, I'll see when I get there.

Yo, question. Are you ever gonna write a psychic Dion Au? I absolutely love that he isn't psychic and it sets him aside from the family but I think a psychic Au where he realizes he's psychic and good at Hydrokanesis would be dope.

Honestly, I've come to a point where whether Dion is psychic or not changes from AU to AU. The one where he can see ghosts? He's not psychic, because he's got something else going on. River Runs Deep? He's partially psychic; he can't use telekinesis or read someone's mind but he does get visions of the past/present/future. Buried Beneath? The story doesn't really work if he's not psychic, so he is. AUs like Ouroboros or Pop Goes the Weasel or Pooter Pile or Rapids? Dion's probably not psychic but since it's not relevant to the story whether he is or not it's not really touched upon.

I've talked about psychic Dion stuff before; but to sum up my general feelings on it:

My interpretation of Dion as a character is someone who deals with unfortunate truths through repression. Him being psychic, but repressing it so hard he doesn't even realize he is, is both hilarious and fitting that interpretation. Him having to work through his own block on his powers and figure out what he even wants to do with them plays into my interpretation of him as someone who's not all the sure who he is outside of his family.

But at the same time, there are a lot of other ways for Dion to work through the issue of feeling tied to his family and the expectations placed on him, and him not being psychic works just as well for his character in the canon storyline. Because ultimately? That's the cool thing about fanon; it's flexible. Dion Aquato probably isn't psychic, but he could be, which opens up a whole different book of interpretations and potential arcs for him.

tl;dr Whether Dion is psychic or not in my AUs depends on which fits the AU's story best; Dion being psychic and Dion not being psychic are both valid and interesting ways to explore his character.

While Danny does end up staying with Bruce and a much younger Dick, the story focuses more on giving Danny a good support system both within Wayne Manor and with the Justice League, as they all come together to help Danny fight against Vlad. Status: Incomplete

THE BEAST.

Oura Thorn’s powers are based of a character from a movie, but unfortunately that movie is King Kong Skull Island, so expect scary thing. If your not a fan of death, cannibalism, yummy digestive facts and good scary CGI, i wouldn’t recommend reading the part called “THE INSPIRATION” and skip right to “WHAT IS THE BEAST?”.

THE INSPIRATION.

Alright! Oura Thorn’s power is based of two entities, the SkullCrawler from King Kong, for body, strength and speed, and Jörmungandr, the world serpent for purpose.

SkullCrawlers were my main source of bodily anatomy guide for the Beast. A massive, horrific bulky beast built like a tank and filled with an unstoppable desire to kill. This creature was intelligent, fast and ruthless. Not to mention metal as hell. The stomach acid in this thing was strong enough that the Skullcrawler eats someone, whole, and then regurgitates the bones thirty minutes later! That’s some strong ass acid. It is described by the Gojipedia that :

“Skullcrawlers are subterranean pack-hunting predators with insatiable appetites that are the results of their heightened metabolisms. Because of this, it is suggested that male and female Skullcrawlers will almost always devour each other after mating. They are highly aggressive, as well as incredibly persistent in pursuing their prey.”

And trust me if you haven’t see the movie, you do NOT wanna end up alone with even one of these freaks.

Jörmungandr is a creature of Norse mythology, also known as the Midgard Serpent or World serpent, and is an unfathomably large sea serpent or worm who dwells in the world sea, encircling the Earth (Midgard) and biting his own tail, an example of an ouroboros. In some scripts and stories- Jörmungandr is described as a Lindworm, which is a subspecies of dragon. Jörmungandr was the middle child of Loki, the Norse trickster god and the giant Angrboða. It was foretold that Odin took Loki’s children and removed them from Asgard. For Jörmungandr, they were tossed into the great ocean that encircles Midgard. There, in the ocean, the serpent grew so large that it could surround earth and grasp its own tail. Jörmungandr and Thor, the Norse thunder god, have a on-going feud and see each other as arch foes. During Ragnarök, Jörmungandr and Thor are foretold to fight each other to the death.

As recounted in Snorri's Gylfaginning:

“The sea will flood and the serpent will thrash onto the land. It will advance, spraying poison to fill the air and water, beside Fenrir, whose eyes and nostrils blaze with fire and whose gape touches the earth and the sky. They will join the sons of Muspell to confront the gods on the plain of Vigrid. Here is where the last meeting between the serpent and Thor is predicted to occur. He will eventually kill Jörmungandr but will fall dead after walking nine paces, having been poisoned by the serpent's deadly venom.”

It is said when Jörmungandr releases its tail is one of the signs of the beginning of Ragnarök (the final battle of the world, or the ‘end of the world as we know it’).

WHAT IS THE BEAST?

The Beast is a bipedal Lindworm with only two frontal limbs and a long thick tail for balance. It is covered in thick armoured plates, with jutting spines down the length of its neck, and the back of its head / cheeks, like Thorn does. Equiped with thick horns and a thicker skull, it can about ram down anything in its path with enough momentum. It is thin and nimble, and tanks a lot more than it looks like it can, using the large muscles in its arms and tail to be able to move fast, or catch prey. Its maw is filled with forward facing teeth, like a canine, but its throat and back of its mouth is filled with backwards facing spines, to grip prey and prevent escaping. Its tongue is long and flexible, capable of snagging someone and dragging them straight into their toothy demise.

The Beast only forces it’s presence when it senses an extreme unbalance in the world around it, forcing itself into control to eradicate any ‘pests’ or ‘weeds’ that would corrupt the survival of the world they are on. Although, just like Jörmungandr, eradicating the pest, also means the ‘end of the world’- destroying large amounts of civilisations, and killing many innocents in the process. Luckily, for Thorn, that hasn’t happened, yet. It is an animal- when it is in control there will be no reaching Oura Thorn, they are good as dead until the Beast has calmed- whether that means tearing the entire base apart to find the lack of balance or not.

However, not is all sorrow and death the minute the Beast is free. Like the World Serpent, there are times where the beast can exist and be calm. Though, usually, it will let Oura Thorn continue with their life by then, and fall back into slumber deep within them. Were a rider to disturb the beast before it slept, it would continue to exist, and often take the time to hunt, or look for a new problem for it to fix, ignoring the little critters around it. (Although, there may be a chance that though Oura Thorn, it may recognise you)

CAN IT BE STOPPED??

In terms of wounding the Beast- it’ll be hard, as a creature designed to force balance to any world.

The beast can’t swim very well, the heavily density of its muscles and bones make it sink and therefore, drowning it. Killing it would be hard in terms of combat, with its armoured scales. Its underbelly is less armoured and the skin along it’s neck where it’s spines emerge are a weak point but good luck getting close enough to touch it. And despite its brutal animalistic behaviour, this creature is smart. Tricking it with poison or having it swallow grenades ain’t gonna work here, just like with the Skullcrawlers. The best bet to killing this thing is having its arms and tail pinned, so it can no longer get away, and then hacking at it.

Keep in mind- if you’re not doing anything bad, and stay away from it, it shouldn’t actively seek out space riders to harm. If you get hurt, you’re in the way, lol.

WELL, IF SPACE RIDERS ARE GOOD, WHY DID IT APPEAR IN THE DOCKS?

Excellent question, figurative person!

Now, I’ve covered how the Beast works, if you’d like, go back to the OG post and see if you can figure out why you think Thorn lost control at the docks.

Ready? Alright. So the Beast only takes the reins when it senses ‘unbalance nature’ around it. Obviously it wasn’t the other staff, not the mail, but the cultists that were mailed to the base. But Infinite! They’re just Critters! Why would that upset the beast?

Another excellent question! The Cultist themselves, didn’t upset the Beast- but rather, the red smoke that they were breathing in.

That is the ‘unbalanced nature’ that has caused thorn to struggle to control themselves and keep the beast contained- the red smoke. And well understood with Onyx’s upload on Z’s planet- that stuff destroyed the entire world!! There is a specific reason that the red smoke is such a massive trigger for the Beast, but that would spoil a plot point I’m holding onto that I’ve been subtly hinting at. So you’ll all know laterrrr ~

WILL THORN BE EVER ABLE TO CONTROL THE BEAST?

No, unfortunately that will never be a reality for Ouřa Thorn :<

I love Thorn very much, but I find overly ‘op’ characters to be too unrealistic in my opinion. Thorn will never be able to control the Beast, or gain any other powers than that. The closest thing to ‘control’ Thorn will ever achieve is being so overwhelmed with one, or a mix of emotions, that it influences the Beast’s actions slightly. This can be seen in the dock accident, were instead of being careless and destroying everything, and probably eating the cultists, The Beast was influenced by Ouřa Thorn’s only two thoughts- to protect the other workers, and to ensure no one got hurt.

Thankfully, those two thoughts were just enough in comparison to the tiny amount of red smoke to keep a full rage at bay, keeping everyone safe.

(However! We do get to watch the Rangers + other critters do there damn best to try help Thorn tame it lol)

WHERE DID IT COME FROM??

There are records of other critters that had Oura Thorn’s power, old talismans and rock craving dating back to eons. Little is understood as to how it started, or why. Some are convinced it’s because of the prototype- the damage that he has caused with the red smoke has awoke a primal magic that is more dangerous than anyone knows.

MDZS Inscryption AU maybe?

So I've been massively hyperfixating on Inscryption thanks to my good friend @sasukimimochi and I got an idea for an AU

If you don't know what I'm on about, here's a Wikipedia entry for it, if you do know, strap in.

This is based off Act I of the game:

-Wei Wuxian dies when he's thrown into the Burial Mounds

-Wakes up to a board game with a shadowy figure that reveals itself as the manifestation of the Burial Mounds and proposes a game

-If Wei Wuxian wins, he will be brought back to life. If he doesn't, he stays dead and trapped forever in the BM, so he agrees to play

-Unbeknownst to him, the way he uses the cards influences the life he will get if he wins

-All the sacrifices he makes are people that are going to die in the life he will have

-The powerful cards are the people that will participate in his demise in some way

-He wins the game, awakes, invents demonic cultivation, canon ensues

-At some point he realizes the manner in which people are dying is the way he played against the Burial Mounds and sacrifices himself to beat it

WIP WEDNESDAY WHENEVER

I got tagged by @ghostoffuturespast and @chevvy-yates for WIP Wednesday Whenever. It is Wednesday where I am so that works out!

Firstly, things that are no longer WIP:

I made a mod!

I'm working on creating some tattoo replacers for the Johnny + V tattoo. The first release is Ros + V and So Mi + V, for all the dedicated SongV and Myers x V shippers out there. If you're looking for a fairly innocuous display of your V's OTP, look no further!

I have plans to expand this to the most popular Phantom Liberty characters, including Colonel Hansen, Bennett, Jago, Reed and Alex. Suggestions are welcome.

Now, WIP:

I'm going to be honest, I haven't written shit this week... but that's because I'm working on CyberNoir 1957 and a couple of other photo stories.

CyberNoir 1957

CyberNoir 1957 is Cyberpunk, but with a Noir influence, occuring within the Brother's Shadow timeline. Val, the half-sister of Vincent 'V' Gonzalez, and known to be a member of the Mox, follows Judy's story arc as a 1950s Private Eye. Currently, she's investigating the hive of debauchery known as 'Clouds' in search for Judy Alvarez's 'friend' Evelyn.

Part 3 of CyberNoir will come out by the end of the week.

I Made a Cop AU

Your eyes do not deceive you. I introduce to you Detective Valerie Ocampo-Gonzalez, NCPD.

Testing the NCPD V Equipment mod and I made a theoretical Val, if she decided against joining the Mox and became a Badge instead. Obviously, Judy does not approve and they stop being friends, so Val marries Melanie.

Val also becomes close friends with River Ward and... Harold Han (aka the guy who covered up the assassination of Lucius Rhyne for Weldon Holt). River does not initially trust Val, partly because she had connections to a gang, and partly because Han had warmed up to her so quickly. Eventually, Val works with V (a completely original V, not sure if I want them to be Masc or Fem yet) and River to unveil the truth behind Rhyne's death, and River finally trusts her, resulting in this exchange...

(I genuinely like River, but he's not really Val's type).

The President's Lady

Still plugging away at Chapter 4. I want to develop the relationship between Vega and Myers a little bit before we go back to the Reed POV as he begins his dark descent into treason.

The Presidential AV sat on the White House lawn, the port access door flanked by a pair of Marines in Dress Blues. They saluted as the President approached, having changed into her iconic suit once more. Myers adjusted her Aviators, returning their salute as she boarded the AV. V followed closely behind. Myers held her hand out to V, “Up you get.” V took her hand. One of the Marines flinched slightly, perhaps shocked, perhaps angered. Either way, it was not their place to question the President’s decisions. With all passengers accounted for, one of the Marines boarded, and the other helped seal the hatch, backing away as the green and white Presidential AV lifted off the turf, the wash of its engines blowing grass out of the ground as it lifted up and away.

Hand holding!? Scandalous!
