The Littlest Outlaw a Missing Year/OutlawQueen fic.
Roland wasn’t too sure why they would want to kill the witch, but he wouldn’t eat her. Hunting was where his papa and the merry men went to kill things for them to eat. His little nose scrunched. He would not eat the witch or her monkeys and he was surely not going to be in the kitchens where they would cook her!
This is just me going through my old fics and missing my ship. I’m going through it, apparently.

A/N: In jest, @averbaldumpingground challenged me to write all 20 prompts from this fake dating list. Well, joke’s on my friend, I accepted the challenge. I’m doing 500-word ficlets for each, using different fandoms/ships.

6. “You know we’re not actually dating, so why did you propose to me in front of my family?” “I’m sorry, I panicked.” —OUAT, Outlaw Queen (ao3)
Tumblr media
DISASTER AVERTED
“What the hell was that?!” Regina hissed once they were far enough away from the cabin.
“I don’t know! I panicked, alright?” Robin ran a hand over his face.
This weekend was turning into an unmitigated disaster. A little voice warned him that it would be, but had he heeded it? Of course not. He was an unadulterated fool when it came to Regina Mills, especially when she’d been so earnest and vulnerable, begging a favor from him of all people.
The plan was simple enough: act as her longtime beau during a short holiday with her estranged family. Cora was the viper that Regina warned her mother would be, but it was Zelena who had gotten under his skin. Every word that fell from that abominable woman’s lips was either a passive aggressive insult against her sister or a tawdry invitation for him—the latter given in private. Her hand on his thigh during dinner had been the final straw.
He shot out of his seat and toasted Regina. One moment he was revering her best qualities and the next, he was kneeling, asking her to marry him. Her eyes rounded in horror, but she recovered quickly, accepting his proposal with a wide, fake grin. He made the debacle even worse by embracing her enthusiastically and kissing her.
Actually, that last bit hadn’t been so bad. It was rather glorious, and he wouldn’t be opposed to doing it again. And again. And—
“Hello?” Regina snapped her fingers in front of his face.
Right, right. Not the point. He tore his eyes away from her full lips.
“I don’t even know how to fix the mess you just made. Have you completely lost your mind?” She threw her hands up in the air with a huff.
He laughed abruptly. Because yes. He’d gone a little mad the first moment she knocked on the door to his flat a little past nine o’clock at night and shoved a copy of the noise ordinance at him with a fetching sneer. He’d opted to finish hanging his pictures the next morning.
“My mother is planning our wedding as we speak.” Regina crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him. She was absolutely breathtaking, and he was tired of pretending he didn’t notice.
He closed the short distance between them, catching the apprehension that flickered across her beautiful features.  “Let her.”
Her gaze turned flat. “Robin—”
“Tell her we want a year-long engagement,” he spoke over her.
She seemed to consider it. “Then we can call it off after a couple months.”
“No.”
She stared at him. “No?”
“No break-up.” He sucked in a breath and told her the truth. “I want to give this—us—a go.”
“You do?” There it was—that fractured vulnerability beneath her biting veneer.
He nodded. Before he could utter another word, she grabbed the lapels of his coat and planted her mouth over his.
He’d laugh if he wasn’t too busy deepening the kiss.

Self Promo Sunday: "And All the Trimmings"
These next couple of weeks, I'm going to highlight the Thanksgiving fics I have written over the years. I've always loved the holiday, and there aren't enough fics for it (in my humble opinion) so I've tried to create a few at various times along the way. This one is some Thanksgiving fluff written during 5B as I anxiously hoped for them to return from the Underworld with their hero party still intact and a pirate in tow. Nods to CS, Snowing, and OQ in here; Thanksgiving is a whole family holiday after all! ;p  Anyway, I think that’s it, other than it obviously being canon divergent now, since things did not pan out nearly so happily upon their return from Underbrooke.  Still, enjoy – and please let me know what you think if you’re so inclined!

by: @snowbellewells
“Charming?” his lovely wife’s voice rings brightly from the loft’s small kitchen right into the erstwhile Prince of the Enchanted Forest’s ears as he bustles through the door of their apartment, arms full of groceries and cheeks red from the first deep chill and frost of the year. “Is that you?”
“Yes, Snow, I’m back!” he calls, bemused smile quirking up one side of his mouth. A chuckle escapes David Nolan’s throat at how happy and excited his Princess sounds. Setting his purchases on the table until he can hang his coat back on its peg, he shakes his head with affectionate good humor and goes to meet her in the kitchen.
If he’s honest with himself, David is nearly as anxious and thrilled as Snow. After all, their entire family, with all its odd, extended members, will soon be gathered here with them for the first Thanksgiving holiday they have celebrated together. His heart swells at the very idea – even if at the same time he has to simply hope the whole thing will really manage to go off without a hitch…or any bloodshed.
“Looking for these?” he asks with happy teasing in his voice as he enters the kitchen, sets the several plastic bags from the market on the counter, and leans over the center island to plant a kiss on Snow’s upturned lips.
“Yep,” she chirps, beaming at him as they part and reaching in to begin unpacking, “I was.”
Charming moves back into the front dining area, preparing the table and making sure they have enough chairs, seeing that the candles and centerpieces Snows wants are out, and letting her get back to her cooking in the meantime. Between the homemade noodles, green beans, and the mashed potatoes and gravy his wife has simmering all at once, Charming is impressed she can keep everything going without setting anything on fire, much less have the whole apartment smelling good enough to make him drool, and he certainly doesn’t want to distract her from it. No matter how long they have been married, or what realm they find themselves in, it doesn’t take long for Snow to prove that she will never cease to surprise and amaze him.
He has just stepped back to survey his handiwork proudly when the doorbell rings. Swiftly moving forward to answer it before Snow comes running, Charming’s smile grows even wider as Henry bursts into the room, greeting him enthusiastically and launching right into a story of their hectic morning. He is followed by Roland, who is practically bouncing up and down, vibrating with rambunctious energy, his deep dimples cracking wide across his face. After their two boys come Robin and Regina, each laden with items that Charming attempts to help take off their hands.
Robin hands over the delectably scented and delicious-looking turkey, beaming proudly as he gives a nod toward the perfectly crisped and golden brown bird on the platter, which has clearly been charmed in some way by Regina to stay warm and ready to place on the table. “Caught it myself, Mate,” Robin says. “Should be a good one.”
Charming sets the turkey on the long dining table he has just finished with, then claps his friend on the shoulder and ushers him in. “I’m sure it will be. Thanks,” he answers.
Robin slings an insulated bag off his shoulder and holds it forward as well. “Regina’s apple tarts,” he explains with both a mischievous smile and a shrug of feigned innocence. The former thief knows the rest of the family’s understandable aversion to the fruit, but he also somewhat adores his beloved’s rather twisted sense of humor and refusal to shy away from her past by making a dish that highlights the difference in her now and just how far she has come. With a wink, he tacks on, “Taste tested them myself, and they’re irresistible.”
The archer moves past, on into the loft to greet Snow and to catch and corral his young son. Regina raises a sculpted brow at David as she enters after Robin, their new little girl sleeping cradled in her arms and a diaper bag slung over her shoulder. Though David knows all too well that having a newborn in the home can be harrying, the formerly evil Queen looks as completely polished and put together as always – not a hair out of place. “Charming,” she greets with a wry nod, somehow managing to inject even the simplest hello with her trademark dry sarcasm. They may be on the same side now, fumbling towards being a truly non-dysfunctional family, but he somehow feels that her half-mocking way of using the name Snow gave him will never change, and perhaps – in Regina’s own way – it is meant as an endearment.
Peeking into the layers of lavender blanket bundled around Robin and Regina’s little daughter to shield her from the biting wind outside, Charming can’t help a soft grin at the sweet, perfect infant sleeping peacefully, the softest wisps of russet curls on her little head and her soft, pale pink skin. “She’s lovely, Regina,” he murmurs in quiet awe, not wanting to rouse little Mariana, and feeling a flood of affection for this woman who once hunted he and Snow, wanting both of their heads, but who also saved Snow’s life as a child, and has clawed her way back from the bottom to right her wrongs.
Before he can close the door behind her, Emma and Killian come tramping up the hall stairs, cheeks flushed and both laughing at some unknown joke between them, but greeting him heartily as they see that he is standing there watching. Emma reaches David first, falling into her dad’s arms and returning his hug exuberantly before reaching back to pull Killian in as well when he hesitates, effectively sandwiching herself between the two of them in a three-way hug. The laugh that rings from his daughter’s throat, light and open and at last free of the guilt and pain she had been saddled with for too long, is all David needs to be as grateful this Thanksgiving as at any he can remember.
“Thanks Dad,” Emma mumbles almost bashfully when she does ease back and both she and her pirate boyfriend pull away. They follow him into the house, their food contributions in hand.
“Aye, thank you for having us, Mate,” Killian adds with a dip of his chin as they all step through the door and he shuts it behind himself. He offers his love’s father a genuine smile when their gazes meet, Emma having busied herself with hanging up their jackets and removing her boots. For a moment, David is frozen in place, forcibly reminded of how Killian had looked just a few weeks before, when they had found him in the black depths of the Underworld. As long as any of them live, David fears the sight of Killian Jones which had greeted them beyond the Veil would be hauntingly branded on their souls. Chained to a dank stone wall in the furthest recesses of Hades’ domain, the shade of a pirate that they’d found was not the dashing rapscallion they knew. Though bearing his torment in stoic silence, he had been emaciated and shivering, the dark rings under his eyes clearly showing that Killian had known no sleep nor peace since he left their world. The rest of the rescue party had stood horrified as Emma fell to her knees before him, tears pouring down her face while she reached out to cup his bearded cheeks in her hands. Worse than all that though had been the blank, almost unseeing despair in blue eyes that had always been so full of life; the vacancy in their depths no longer seemed like Killian at all and had truly made their blood run cold.
To see that spark back in Jones’ smiling gaze, and the dark bruises beneath his eyes fading, reminds David forcibly just how much they do have to celebrate before he clears his throat to respond with hoarse emotion. “Of course. We’re glad to have everyone. Snow’s really trying to outdo herself.”
Without further ado, David soon finds his family gathered around the table, talking, laughing and reveling in the warmth and happiness of the occasion. There is good natured ribbing at Emma’s continued inability to cook and a playful debate over whether or not the bottoms of several of the butter horn rolls she had made were more burnt than a nice golden brown. Mariana wakes from her nap and begins to gurgle and coo at everyone she can see gathered around her. Snow gushes over the pecan pie that Emma grudgingly admits Killian had made, complete with perfectly crimped edges of crust and an ornate little ‘KJ’ carved into the crunchy sugared top. “Figures,” Charming hears his daughter grumble with teasing chagrin, “He can cook circles around me with only one hand.”
Snow is quick to assure her daughter that she will get better with practice, but Killian only smirks at Emma, looking entirely as though he wants her to either smack or kiss the grin off his face. “Well, I had to sign such artwork, Swan,” he counters playfully. “You might have tried to take credit for it otherwise.”
The whole table laughs and carries on, but is quickly more absorbed in eating than talking, just comfortable in each other’s presence and enjoying a quiet moment. David looks to the other end of the long table and catches Snow’s eye, perfectly understanding the misty look he finds there. This was all either of them had ever wanted: a family, all together, happy and safe. It is what they had sacrificed so much for their best chance at preserving. He smiles at his True Love, marveling that two other pairs of True Loves sit in this very room with them, and tucks into his own meal at last. Now that they have all found each other, this family has every blessing it could possibly need.

HELP ME FIND A FIC (outlaw queen)
idk if anybody will be able to help bc not many people read OQ fics anymore, but there is a fic i read once a while back and i cannot find it anywhere. i don’t remember if it was on ff.net or ao3 or if it was a one shot or not but it was a missing year fic in which regina got stung or bitten or otherwise poisoned by something and began to get sicker and sicker with fever until she started hallucinating. HOWEVER, there are (at least) two distinct stories with this exact plot because there is one i keep finding that i know is NOT the one i’m looking for (it’s also great it’s just not the specific one i’m trying to find lol). the one it is NOT has three chapters and regina sort of quarantined herself on a dusty cot in an abandoned room and robin took care of her because he had contracted the same illness or been stung by the same venom before so he was immune and also we saw regina’s hallucinations from her perspective. i’m pretty sure in the one i’m looking for, we only see her hallucinations from robins perspective and she’s in her chambers the whole time she is sick. sorry if this is too confusing or too vague but if anybody can help me that would be awesome!

Home Chapter 5
AO3 | FFN
Henry walked along the shoreline, lost in thought and memories. He wasn’t sure how to feel about any of this. Any of the last seven weeks. He thought back to the discussion he and the pirate had in Camelot, about building a future for Emma.
About the house, and about what that future would look like for them and their friendship. He hadn’t gotten a chance to know his own father much before he lost him and David and Robin tried and of course were there, but the two men had other children to look after and raise. Killian didn’t have those other responsibilities - Emma and Henry were his first priorities.
The thirteen year old wasn’t ready to fully admit it, even to himself, but he knew deep down what he started to think of Hook as. It made him feel all mixed up - he had so many conflicting feelings and wasn’t sure how to handle them all.
Henry missed Hook a lot, and was angry at him and still hurt but was also happy to be down here to get him back, but he also hated him a little for even dying on them in the first place and sad that getting rid of The Darkness had resorted to this and…
Henry signed and picked up a flat rock to skip. Hook taught him how and it made him miss him more and feel more angry and…he threw another stone. This one didn’t skip, just landed into the water with a deep plunk.
He groaned and found another. This time, he was able to make it skip and that made a small smile appear on his face. He could never beat Hook’s record - the man could always get out five or six skips. Henry was often lucky if he got two. He picked up another and then another and more after that.
The more stones he threw, the calmer he felt and the more his mind settled. After some minutes failing and succeeding in getting the stones to skip, he continued down the beach, picking up this shell and that shell. He sighed again and sat down on a bit of driftwood - he wasn’t going to question where it came from.
Turning a large shell over in his hand, Henry thought back to the last time he spoke to Hook, the last time he saw him alive.
The library was a bust, nothing in these books were giving them any clue as to what Emma was planning. Henry dropped his head onto the table and let out a loud “Uuuggghhh.”
He felt a hand on his back, trying to soothe in short passes - up and down, up and down. He and Belle were the only ones here today. The rest of the family didn’t want him there when they confronted Emma.
“I don’t need a babysitter! She’s my mother, let me talk to her! Let me try!” He’d argued.
But Regina and his grandparents had been firm.
“You don’t need to see this, Henry,” his mom had argued back, “And we…we don’t know what kind of state she’ll be in. I won’t risk your safety.”
He’d argued for a long time, but eventually Belle stepped in and told him that she would need help with the research and Henry had no choice but to relent. Now he’s wishing he’d kept arguing.
He was just picking his head up when the library door swung open with a BANG! Both Belle and Henry jumped at the noise and quickly turned at the intrusion. It was Hook, but he…he seemed different, somehow. More…something. And less…something…
But Henry didn’t have time to wonder about that! He stood and raced to the man, “Did you find her - did you find Mom?!”
“Mm,” Hook said, barely acknowledging him; his focus was entirely on Belle. “I need your help, Lass. For Emma.”
Henry felt Belle sidle up next to him, he could feel how tense she was. Hook was still ignoring him and his face was stone. Whatever happened between him and his mom, it definitely wasn’t good.
“What do you need, Killian?” she asked slowly, cautiously, “What happened?”
“Hook--” Henry started, but was cut off.
“Nothing concerning, I just need you to come with me. I’ve something to discuss with your husband and it would make it easier if you were there…to--mediate.”
Henry’s brow furrowed at the odd request. Hook hated Grandpa! What on Earth would he need to talk to him about? He felt the tension rise as he watched Belle watch Hook. Something weird was going on.
“Killian--”
“I’ll not ask again, Lass” Hook said, voice deep and rough and--honestly--a little scary, “You will come with me to assist.”
It happened so fast. Henry just barely caught Hook lifting his hand and only had a split second to think before he grabbed onto Belle’s sleeve so they couldn’t leave him behind.
Teleportation is weird and honestly unpleasant. It leaves you with a swooping feeling in your stomach and a strange smell in your noise and a light headache from the sudden whirl of air and space-time. Henry used to think it was the coolest thing. Fantasy novels were liars…
Also, the landing sucks.
Henry rubbed his head as he picked himself up off the floor of his grandpa’s shop.
“Ow…” he muttered.
“Henry!” Belle dropped to her knees next to him, “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” he winced out, letting his grandmother help him stand. He looked around for Hook, and frowned when he saw him. He was off to the side, leaning nonchalantly against one of the glass displays, playing with his so-called moniker. Henry couldn’t tell if he was deliberately blocking the door or not, but that didn’t matter. He had to try again. “Hook--gah!”
With a wave of fingers, Henry felt the magic seep into his throat. He gasped at the same time Belle did. Hook…he had magic--and he used it to silence him! Henry felt the sting of tears as he stared disbelievingly at his--at the pirate.
“Killian!” Belle rounded on him angrily, “What the hell is going on! How could you!”
“I think I can answer that,” Henry’s grandpa said, stepping out from the backroom. “Clearly, our Miss Swan saw fit to split The Darkness in two.”
The pirate smirked, still playing with his hook.
“Wait--Emma made you--a Dark One?” Belle asked haltingly. “Why-why would she do that?”
“The why’s of it don’t matter,” Hook said, turning to grin a Gold. “The only thing on my mind is what this magic can do.”
Henry watched, annoyed, as Gold rolled his eyes. Same, Grandpa! Same. He turned his glare at Hook, who--once again--was ignoring him.
“If revenge is what this is about,” Belle said, putting herself in front of Henry, “Why do you need me? I know you, Killian--you’re not going to kill me to get your revenge."
Hook didn’t take his eyes off Gold, and Henry didn’t take his glare off him. They didn’t have time for any of this! Emma needed their help! But Henry found he couldn’t move, too angry and betrayed to just leave.
Plus that would mean walking past Hook to get the door and he didn’t want to find out what his emotions would be if he did and Hook…just let him. Without a glance. Without an apology. Without any kind of acknowledgement.
No, he didn’t want to think about that at all.
“Like I said, Lass, I need you here to mediate. The Crocodile and I have unfinished business and the easiest way to get someone to do what you want is to have leverage.” His smirk widened into a crazed smile. “Isn’t that right, Rumpelstiltskin?”
There was an old cutlass resting on a shelf behind Hook, he snatched it up and sent it skidding across the wooden floor. Henry was forced back a little by Belle, as if the sword would nick them, but Henry knew--even now--that Hook would never let that happen.
Gold leaned forward on his cane, completed unamused, “What exactly is it you want? Belle’s right, you won’t kill her--even for leverage. And we both know, this sword can’t kill you. Why the theatics in the first place?”
“Ah, maybe that sword can’t kill me,” Hook magicked another into his hand, “But this one can!” He pointed the sword directly at Gold, “And all you have to do is take it from me. Besides, just because I won’t kill her, doesn’t mean she won’t be harmed.”
It all happened in an instant.
Belle was in front of him, shielding him with her body.
Then she was in front of Hook and was letting out a painful grunt.
“No!” he heard his grandpa call out, angry and terrified.
And before he knew it, Henry was watching as Hook ripped out her heart and squeezed…
“Ah!”
“Stop it!”
...and he couldn’t make a single sound.
“Come to the lake, Dearie. Defeat me and she’ll get her heart back.”
Then they were gone and his voice returned.
Henry sniffed and wiped a few stray tears from his eyes; it wasn’t like he was ashamed to cry, he knew it didn’t make him weak.
It’s natural, Lad--it doesn’t make you any less of a man.
But he spent so long this past week crying and he was sick and tired of it. That got another small smile, like mothers like son. And speaking of mothers…Henry turned his gaze back toward the small cottage. It was several feet away now, but he could still just barely make it, and the small crowd that was his family, out against the backdrop of beach and forest.
It was getting late--or at least, it felt like it was getting late--and he really ought to turn back, but he didn’t want to. He knew that one look at his face and his family would be on him with annoying, but well-meaning inquiries about his mood. And he knew that, like back home when they asked those same questions, he wouldn’t know what to say.
But it looked like his mom was getting everyone agitated and Robin wasn’t doing a good job of talking her down. That meant she wanted to use magic for something, and it wasn’t anything his grandparents approved of.
He took one last look at the sea - quiet and waveless. It wasn’t right, Hook being someplace the ocean didn’t move. So with a clap to his knees, Henry stood and made his way back toward his family.
------
Emma braced herself for another swipe; when Liam said “pet” she was not expecting a giant freaking three headed dog! Would any of this fairytale shit ever not be weird?!
“Dammit!”
She dove to the side, the beast’s claws just barely missing her, and rolled in a move Killian taught her. Liam wasn’t faring much better. Between the teeth, the claws, and the freaking tail, it was a miracle neither had gotten severely hurt yet, let alone killed.
“We can’t just keep dodging!” Emma yelled to him.
“And what--” Liam jumped out of the way of another paw swipe “--do you suggest” -- he dropped low -- “we do?!”
Emma looked down at her hands; she hadn’t used magic since she was freed from The Darkness a week ago and she honestly wasn’t sure she could use it now. But they couldn’t keep dodging forever, they had to go on the offensive.
“I,” she started, stopped and swallowed, then stronger, “I have magic. I could--I don’t know--summon a sword or something!”
Liam glared at her, “You have magic and decide to speak of it now!”
Emma glared back, “I haven’t used it in--”
“I don’t care, Your Highness--if you can conjure up weapons then do it!” He barked in a voice brimming with authority and impatience. The same voice her pirate used with them on the ship toward Neverland, and even with Arthur and Merlin in Camelot. A captain’s voice.
She kept glaring, but Emma also took a moment to look inside herself, to ask the questions, “What am I doing this for? Whom am I protecting?”
Killian
She felt the heaviness of a broadsword in one hand and the lighter weight of a cutlass in the other. She tossed Liam the saber.
“Here!”
“Much thanks,” he called back, sounding both genuinely thankful and annoyed by it. Whatever, they could work on the dislike later.
Emma readied her stance, just as her father showed her, and prepared to charge when a high, sharp whistle pierced the air. The dog (dogs?), just a second ago hovering with thick ropes of drool under glistening deadly teeth, vanished. Instead, Emma and Liam stared down at a…maybe cute? Three headed puppy.
“That is quite enough of that, don’t you think? Can’t have you hurt my dog.”
They turned in unison, both still tensed and posed for battle. A tall, pale man with black hair in even blacker robes stood behind them…with…was that popcorn?
“Um…” Emma said eloquently.
Liam instantly lowered his sword and gave a deep, respectful bow, “My Lord Hades, please forgive us--we apologize for the intrusion and--”
Hades--freaking Hades?!--waved a carefree hand, “No need to be so formal, Captain. It’s been quite a long time since you’ve made an appearance here. To what do I owe this millennium’s visit?”
“What…?” Emma whispered, but she was ignored.
“It is my brother, Milord.” Liam answered promptly, still not having risen from his bow, “He--well he’s recently died and--”
“Ah,” the Lord of the Dead interrupted, magicking away his popcorn (what the actual hell?!), “you’ve come to collect him.”
“Yes, Milord, if your mercy sees it so fit.”
“Mm, and who is this?” His piercing silver gaze made it to Emma. “Hoping to make another trade?”
“Excuse me!” Emma gasped, stepping back.
“No, Milord!,” Liam jumped in, finally looking up, “She is my brother’s love--here with me to bring him home. We would like to argue his case, if you would allow it.”
Hades stared at them a long time; cold, calculating, but not entirely unfriendly either. Emma felt a chill go through her and sweat that wasn’t actually there gather along her forehead. If he denied this, would that be it? Would there truly be no way to save Killian?
No! That wasn’t an option--he shouldn’t be down here! And Emma wasn’t leaving without him, she didn’t care whom she had to go through. Nothing and no-one would take Killian away from her again.
She watched, slightly unsettled, but still full of determination, as the Lord of the Underworld smiled and let out a soft, short chuckle.
“The former Dark One and the next Davy Jones--here to rescue the man who’s escaped my domain for the better part of two centuries? Sure, why not--my schedule’s free and I could use a laugh. Let’s hear that argument.”

A Slice of Life (An Outlaw Queen Fic)
Hey guys! This is a new pairing for me, I've never written anything OQ before even though I think they're absolutely adorable together, but my pal @stardreamer28 has been having a rough couple of days and was hoping for somebody to write her a ficlet, and since she also loves OQ I decided to give it a shot! Idk what counts as a ficlet vs. a fic, but it's a short'n'sweet one-shot, that's the point. It's kind of an idea of what it would've been like if Regina and Robin got their happy ending and just got to be a family with their boys, because nuts to Hades ruining everything! Read on and enjoy!
Regina watched the boys playing together from a spot on a shaded park bench, one leg crossed elegantly over the other and a fond smile on her perfectly-reddened lips. Henry was teaching Roland some of the sword fighting moves he had learned from David with sticks. Regina imagined it wouldn’t be too long before Robin started teaching Roland some moves of his own—with a bow and arrow, although probably the ones with suction cups on the ends instead of sharp points.
Roland was the sweetest little boy; those big round eyes were absolutely irresistible. They were the reason Regina had gone out for ice cream so many times lately. Besides, he had his father’s puppy dog look when he wanted to spend time with Regina, and Regina could never say no to either of them with that face.
Speaking of Robin…he came up from behind the bench and kissed the top of Regina’s head, waving to the boys. He’d been giving a seminar on wilderness safety at the high school, so Regina had moved her city council meeting back to six so they would still have time for dinner.
“Come on, Henry!” Regina called, standing up. She took Robin’s hand as the four of them walked back into downtown Storybrooke. It gave her a pleasant little warm feeling, right in the part of her heart she had once believed to be permanently frozen, to feel his fingers intertwined with hers, and to catch the little smile on Robin’s handsome face as he snuck adoring glances at her. Even better was the way their sons walked ahead of them, Roland pointing at people who passed them and asking Henry if they were in the storybook. Most of them weren’t, but he was such a curious little boy, and he already knew that nobody knew more about people’s fairytale pasts than Henry.
Dinner was at Granny’s, as usual. Robin and Henry ordered hamburgers, which Regina hadn’t been surprised to learn was one of Robin’s favorite Storybrooke foods. Roland got an order of chicken nuggets (he wasn’t adventurous enough to try to burgers yet), and Regina got fried chicken with mashed potatoes. There was no way she would ever touch one of Granny’s lasagnas—she had standards.
After dinner, they walked back to the house together before Regina had to go to the town hall. Once they were a few streets away, Roland and Henry raced each other back…not that it was much of a contest, with how much longer than Roland’s legs Henry’s were.
“See you later,” Regina said, stopping at the front gate and kissing Robin’s cheek. “Make sure the boys get their homework done.”
“I’m on it,” Robin said, with one of those soft, dashing smiles that Regina could never get enough of. “Have fun at your meeting, love.”
“Very funny.” Council meetings were boring, when there weren’t issues of villainous threats and life and death to worry about. “I’ll be home around eight.”
Regina waited at the gate to watch Robin go into the house. She loved doing that; it was such a joy to her that Robin Hood lived there with her, and that they had blended their little families together there as well. And she looked forward to coming home every night even more than she had before, knowing she had two new people to come home to, and a fiancee to cuddle up with at night.
But first, there was a meeting, and she was already running late.

Breaking In, Ch 53
Tumblr media
After a tumultuous two weeks, Regina's back on the therapist's couch. TW: discussions of disordered eating
Regina arrives five minutes early for her appointment with Dr. Hopper on Wednesday evening, giving her time to greet Belle with a smile and exchange small talk about their holiday weekends. Belle had spent hers at the beach; Regina claims to have spent hers “relaxing at home.” Which is absolutely true—she had been at home, and she had been very relaxed.
The receptionist doesn’t need to know that she’d also been very naked and that she’d spent more time getting busy than any sane person would think was reasonable. She’ll save that tidbit for Dr. Hopper.
Along with all the other tidbits—it seems like much longer than two weeks since the last time she sat on this couch. Things with Robin have shifted and settled, her father knows the secret she thought would blow up all of their lives (and has vowed to keep it), her mother is, for all intents and purposes, cut off for another three weeks, Sidney has gone off his rocker, and her work life is in upheaval.
If she wasn’t so determined to wrestle her eating disorder back under control as quickly as possible, she might have a hard time figuring out where to focus this week. As it is, she’s debating whether she wants to discuss some of the other things first, whether it might be beneficial to lead with something less fraught, or if she should just dig in and give the whole hour to the problem on her plate.
She’s still mulling it over when Dr. Hopper opens the door and invites her into his office, Pongo hopping up onto the sofa and settling in just as she does. She gives the dog a little pat on his head as she leans back into the sofa cushions and Dr. Hopper balances his notepad on his lap and clicks his pen to life.

Just a hello, and thank you for writing!
I found your stuff through your humorous Boromir comics (man those make me laugh, I've shared them with several people) and then when you mentioned you were an author I got excited, and then when you mentioned which of your books you liked best I got even more excited! So I read through Sunshield and now I am reading Floodpath, and I want to say, I really really enjoy your books and writing and I hope you write (and enjoy writing!) a lot more! I have limited time these days but I look forward to when I can enjoy some more of your stories. And please don't hesitate to tell people about the books you have written too! Tumblr is a beautiful place but awfully disjointed, and it's fun to find new authors here. Thanks for putting your stories into the world!
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed Sunshield (and ostensibly Floodpath as you sent me this lovely ask like a hundred years ago, sorry). Self-promo is the worst, so I appreciate the kind words of support, and sure, I'll take the opportunity to say:
If folks have enjoyed my comics or fics, maybe check out my published novels. The Creatures of Light trilogy starts with Woodwalker, which follows an exiled ranger guiding a deposed queen through the wilds to reclaim her throne. The Outlaw Road duology starts with Sunshield, where a desperate outlaw, a sheltered diplomat, and a political prisoner find their paths crossing in a quest to expose a system of corruption.
And if you like my illustrations, take a look at my middle-grade eco-fantasy, A Field Guide to Mermaids. It uses the behaviors, adaptations, and habitats of mermaids to explore real aquatic ecosystems. I like to think of it as a science book with a fantasy veneer.
I'm hoping to have more novel news soon after many months of being stuck in the publishing industry hamster wheel, but the timing on that is anyone's guess. Which is what fan art is for.

Fanfic Friday Saturday
Rule: share a fic you wrote that you’re proud of! (Art/moodboards are optional)
Hope for the Homeless
I wrote this fic for the OQ Advent Calendar one year, and the funny thing is, it's not even the fic I originally intended to write. I had my planned entry written, then suddenly had the idea for Hope for the Homeless in my kitchen one day... And then proceeded to write it in about 2 days, just in time for the deadline (the first and only time I've done that for a longer fic).
I've seen this game all over the RWRB fandom, so I'm going to spread it to the OQ fandom!

The Copper Queen 110k @jrojoyce
Is it possible to find love in such an inhospitable place? If you do find it, can it survive against both man and nature? Fresh from their discharge from the army, Jon Snow and his friend, Samwell Tarly, arrive in the small mining town of Copper Canyon, Arizona in hopes of building their future. Unbeknownst to Sam, Jon has picked this location for a specific personal reason. Will his choice lead them to a bright future or will their future evaporate like water in the desert? Sansa Stark had lived in Copper Canyon for over half her life. She and her sister, Arya, are all that remain of their once large family. In the old west rumor and gossip can quickly become legend. And if you believe the legends of Copper Canyon, than you know the Starks carry a curse. A curse placed on them by a man who still styles himself as their friend and protector. Will a chance meeting with the town's newest arrival be enough to break that curse?
Four Brides for One Jon 1k by @thefairfleming
It’s the flowers that do it. For the past hour, Sansa had been sitting in the stagecoach, trying to maintain some semblance of calm in the face of what appears to be an utter disaster. All four of them in this coach, four women taking a chance on a new life with a complete stranger, and it turns out they’ve all been summoned by the same stranger.
There's a feeling in your eyes (the shadows can't erase) 7k, incomplete
Following the sensational and mysterious deaths of her family, Sansa Stark marries her cousin, Jon Snow, a newly appointed Sheriff in the wild country of the Arizona Territory.
Ivory & Lace 68k by @vivilove-jonsa
Jon Snow was a loner and the townsfolk all agreed he was a dangerous man. Sansa Stark has been sent out West to marry Ramsay Bolton, a man she's never met. When Sansa and Jon meet in town, the attraction is immediate despite the obstacle of a fiancé in the way.
Leather & Lace 134k by @vivilove-jonsa
After her husband had died of consumption last year, many in town had doubted that a young woman of twenty could keep things afloat but Sansa Stark Tyrell is no ordinary young woman and she's determined to keep her ranch and to keep her newfound family together. But a ranch the size of the Golden Rose needed more than one old man, two green boys, three young women and a baby to keep it thriving. They needed at least one man in his prime. “A man in his prime for the ranch and a man in his prime in your bed,” Mya had teased when she’d spoke of hiring someone. She’d smothered a giggle and told Mya to hush up when she’d said it but something low in her belly tightened at the memory.
Deep in the Heart of a Lone Star Lady 11k
Sansa Stark finds herself running a cattle ranch in Texas in the 1800's but profits dip lower and lower each year. Just when she thinks she is on the verge of losing everything, the new ranch hand Jon Snow walks into her life and gives her so much more to live for.
An Outlaw and His Prize 1k by @framboise-fics
“Do you know what you’ve done?” she says, scathingly, her voice poised as ever even though he remembers the fear in her eyes when he burst in through the window of the room where Baelish was keeping her, even though her fingers clutch tightly to his coat where she sits sidesaddle on the horse before him.
Go West, Jon Snow 107k by @kittykatknits
The year is 1852. Jon Snow is ready to begin a new life in the Oregon Territory. To do so, he will travel via wagon train through one of the famous trails in the Old West. But, first, Jon needs to find himself a wife.
Seven Snow Brothers and Their Wives 6k WIP by @kittykatknits
Seven brothers, all backwoods mountain men, decide they need a woman's help with the cooking and other chores. Only, it turns out finding a wife isn't as easy as it seems. Soon enough, with some help from Sansa, it's time for them to go courting. And if that doesn't work, then they can always ride into town and steal their brides, like those Sobbin' Women they heard about. Maybe this way they'll be able to find the girl for them? And maybe even have a wedding or seven?
Desert Snow 10k by @tinywriter2018
Jon snow owns a ranch while Sansa helps run the family clothing store. Many rumors are going around about the mysterious rancher who mostly comes to town when he has to.
mountain man drabble by @charmtion
Season by season, the way he’d lived up till meeting her. But now he lives to drown, draws breath just so he can lose it in the depths of her eyes, the honey of her smile, the salt of her on his tongue, the sound of her some church-song in his ears.
Cathouse ficlets 1, 2, 3 by @justadram
Sansa’s only been working in Baelish’s cathouse for a week to pay off the debt she incurred from being brought out here to escape her bastard of a fiancé, when Mya comes to her and announces in that brash voice of hers that there’s a shy gentleman downstairs looking for a girl with red hair.

I remember you mentioned having a Mihawk playlist, and the way you manage to find songs that perfectly fit the vibes of your fics and enhance the reading experience is one of the things I love about your writing
So I was wondering if you could share some of the songs on your playlist? Or even some songs that you associate with certain characters/tropes/scenarios?
I always love it when you send me asks, @sexc-snail.
I absolutely DO have a Mihawk playlist. I share the playlist construction with another creator on Tumblr who I love, cherish and adore: @sordidmusings. We add to it as we write, recommend songs as they come to us to help with words in works.
I could get into a long, long rant about music so I will add a page break here ❤. Lots of song recs to follow for the OPLA cast so far.
Tumblr media
I am a violinist; have been playing for 25 years this year (I AM GETTING OLD, JEEPERS CREEPERS). Music is a great, passionate love affair for me and I adore learning about songs and pieces new and old. Here are some recommendations for songs and vibes I associate with the characters and the tropes.
I never add lyrics to my fics so the readers can visualize their own favourite melodies where they see fit, but I do have tunes in mind when I write them. The only fic I've really centralised a song about is the "You Should Be Sad" Mihawk fic I wrote a while back and the Koby series I'm writing.
