Alien vs. Predator (2004) dir. Paul W. S. Anderson.
7.6/10
I would recommend this movie to my friends.
I wouldn't rewatch this movie.
I like all the shifting mechanics of this place.
I enjoyed that perfectly created hole/slide down into the pyramid.
Sebastian is cute and smart.
Graeme is who you want to go on a trip like this with. He's so good.
I think the lore behind the Predator and Alien history is interesting.
That predator making those weapons for Lex is badass.
Wow the ascent out was crazy.
Verheiden is who I don't want to travel with.
I would've never made it across that jump where Lex separated from Sebastian.
I originally only liked Aliens and not predators, but this one made me feel more connection with the predators.
My gasp at when predator got pierced.

Alice in the Wasteland. The Resident Evil movies are good movies. Gamers scoff at this as do cynical cinephiles. The first two films loosely adapt the plot of the first 3 games afterwards the third film takes the story on a different direction from the video game series that it is based on. The Umbrella Corporation remain the antagonistic faction of the series.
I do find the last three films of the series(Afterlife, Retribution, The Final Chapter) to be the best of the series. Not surprising since that is when Paul W. S. Anderson came back to the director's chair. The second and third films he produced. These set of three films within the series have incredible and imaginative set pieces, relays and levels that test series protagonist Alice(Milla Jovovich, Anderson's wife and muse), and scientific hubris(the Umbrella Corporation's viral experiments) on display.

one of the scariest films i semi refuse to watch is 'event horizon', and i think of it every time i watch 'the family of blood.'
'the 'event horizon' was named after the theoretical boundary surrounding a black hole, within which gravitational attraction is so great that nothing, not even radiation, can escape because the escape velocity is greater than the speed of light. technically, it is where the physical universe ends and physical laws no longer apply. so the ship's name is symbolic for its journey beyond the borders of the known universe.'
the doctor pushed mother of mine into one, so i think of the movie and it makes me believe she received the worst fate out of all the family of blood. i don't know why hers was so bad compared to the others. also the fact that she is also the only one he said to have 'tricked.' why? ALSO the fact it's the one who took over jenny, martha's only friend as another punch. why did 'mother of mine' have the worst fate?
i thought of this for a while...and it struck me. mother of mine is the only member of the family we hear within the fob watch:
MOTHER [watch]: Time Lord. Hide yourself.
so, is this why? because of her mocking, or possibly it was her fault this happened in the first place? that he hid away?
perhaps this wasn't him coming up with the plan to hide away rather than fight? but an acceptance of her intimidation. her mocking him, "hide yourself" if you want, we'll find you anyway. so the doctor says, dammit i do have to hide. but i have another trick up my sleeve, they don't know how i'll hide. is this why he punishes her so much worse than the others?
