I'm still working on the new build, but in the meantime I can show off a sub menu I finished a while ago. This is the Persona menu, for checking on what Personas you're currently carrying. It's a lot simpler then in P5, but still necessary to include, I think.

To all fans of dating sims, social sims, or games with romance mechanics:
When picking a character to romance, do you choose based on how much YOU like the character/want to date them, or based on who you think works better for the story? Like, for instance, if there are multiple possible choices, but the game really pushes for one option, will you pick the "most canon" option, even if you don't like that character as much? Conversely, if there's a character you absolutely adore and have a crush on, will you choose to romance them, even if it wouldn't make sense story-wise or if they have bad chemistry with the protagonist? Or do you choose based on different criteria all-together?

Yeah.. been spending time with best girl yukari(I'm going to draw my playthroughs out later but ;v; still posting these for keeps)
she feels so real though, if a girl acts this way towards you, it'd certainly mean that she loves you a lot, I think. You'd still have to be careful about it, but this girl obviously really likes you from the start and it shows. I like that about her.

The main menu screen is all done! :D The info on screen like the date update as well! Most of the menus this leads to are functional, with the exception of Persona and Confidant, so next is drafting the look of working ones while I continue to figure out how make custom scenes.

Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful!!! And now to fix the other half! Much of what I said about Persona 4 I could also say about its sequel. The amazing loop of social interaction, monster fusion and dungeon crawling, one of the best set of party members in any JRPG, memorable moments that hit me harder than what Truck-kun does to self-insert protagonists, it’s all here. Of course, even in the absence of P4G Shuffle Time, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any improvements. For one, the change to individually designed dungeons instead of them being randomly generated is appreciated. Social links affect gameplay more than just giving extra starting XP to Jack Frost and there are plenty of quality of life additions to boot. But of course, no post about Persona 5 would be complete without mentioning the thick, creamy layer of smokin sick style that covers every single millimeter of this game’s visuals. It is jaw-dropping in motion and elevates the enjoyment factor of this game by a factor of ten. However, I have to say while its widely available re-release, Persona 5 Royal, is an upgrade and I wouldn’t say it’s a universal one though the remixed dungeons, gameplay additions and the unique scenario that really threw me for a loop when I finally got to it were welcome. So, if anime style JRPGs are your jam (and maybe even if they aren’t), play Persona 5. It will steal your heart and leave you with wonderful memories. I can only hope that Persona 3 Reload and the inevitable Persona 6 continue the trend. P.S. For the record, Makoto is best girl, Ryuji is best boy, Akechi is best pancakes, Joker is best Smash DLC, Last Surprise is best battle theme, Rivers in the Desert is best boss theme, Freedom & Security or I Believe is best dungeon theme and you’ll never see it com-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Still no regrets.

I got access to an EXTENDED demo of Eternights! The action RPG created by solo dev with a dream to make a persona meets devil may cry meets dating simulator!
But not everything is what it seems 🔍 Check out my review and let me know what you think of the limited demo!

Wanting to clarify that games like Persona 3-5 and Fire Emblem Three Houses and so on have dating simulator elements and not visual novel elements within the context of what people usually talk about as far as leveling up or even down characters' connections with you and maybe acquiring rewards for it is such a losing battle given that here in the west, hardly anyone actually knows what neither a visual novel nor a dating simulator actually is, let alone the difference between the two. You could make a better argument for the simularity between the two aformentioned games and Sakura Wars (both a dating simulator and a strategy game) rather than something like Clannad or Fate Stay Night (both visual novels with love interests of some kind).

Today, I finished 'Eternights'
Tumblr media
Today, I finished Eternights. I played the demo a few months ago and it caught me by surprise with how intense it was with its magical zombie apocalypse. The tension of that doesn't last as you get a magic shapeshifting arm (that the game doesn't do enough with for my liking) but it makes up for it with decent characterisation and good humour. Also, one of your romantic interests is a guy. A guy who joins really bloody late in the story but he gets enough characterisation to make up for it.
It really does play like an amateur passion project: story goes that the developer was inspired by Persona 5 to quit his job and make a game, and good lord did he do so. There's a jankiness to it but there's also a great passion and a great understanding of how to emotionally engage the player. The plotting feels sporadic—especially with how characters tend to disappear and reappear between scenes and know things that you're not quite sure why they should—but it ties up nicely with what actually is an amazingly effective ending sequence that cemented my respect for the dev.
If your interests occupy a certain part of a Venn diagram that includes Persona 5, Dark Souls, and tense post-apocalyptic drama alongside decent romantic comedy, then I definitely recommend Eternights. It's far from the best game in the world but I had a good time with it; this review does feel like I'm underselling the whole thing a bit but that's because the parts are less than the whole.
