Shockingly, I actually do have a fic of mine that is a definite Number 1, my superfamily fic Forty-Seven Flat. I’d been toying with the idea of writing this fic for a couple of years, as a way of working through some personal baggage that I’d been carrying around since I was a teenager, and I finally just decided to bite the bullet and do it. I had absolutely no qualms that anyone would be interested in a fic about swimming, and so was completely floored not only by the overwhelmingly positive response that the story received, but also how cathartic it was for me to finally write it ♥️

You know, it's a little odd. All of the pieces in this series are about isolation and escape--Icarus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Prometheus, and certainly the Minotaur. But A Crack in the Labyrinth came first, and more than any of the rest, it's about resignation. About having fought and scrabbled and clawed desperately and still...not having made it. Still being trapped inside, alone.

And when I made it, I hadn't really intended to say anything more than that one piece, but I just couldn't leave it there. I had to give him the whole story--an innocent beginning, same as anyone. I couldn't leave the ending as it was written; I'd initially just intended to have the conclusion the myth gives him, slain by Theseus, but...if I'm going to say, "I'm the minotaur, monstrous and alone and told by the world that that is right and deserving," then I am also saying "you, who feels deeply for this, for whom this resonates, you are also the minotaur and we are monsters who deserve the ending that is written for us." And I...just can't bear to. There has to be hope.

So there is, very literally, light at the end of the labyrinth, one way or another.

Anyways, I used this song for that photoset on the clock app, but I think you would also enjoy it. Cow Boy, take us away.

Luffy #Sanji #Trafalgar Law #Lawlu #something about Luffy saying almost the exact same thing that Corazon said to Law makes me so emotional actually #It's easy to think Corazon and Luffy would get along. they are both kindhearted goofy sweethearts #but it's more than JUST that #it's that deeper thing where they understand and carry the pain of the people they hold dear #And it's the fact that overhearing Corazon say this is pretty much what changed Law's life #To know that he is cared for and seen and someone wants the best for him #And then Law loses him #And then years later he aligns himself with Monkey D Luffy #Someone who has these echoes of Corazon in him #The echoes of the person he held so close to his heart #Like. It's no wonder Law is so compelled and mystified by Luffy in equal measure #I think if Law heard Luffy say this to Sanji he'd go insane #cause I know he's remember everything Cora said that night exactly #and it might tell him why he sought out and believed in Luffy against all odds and logic #(why he cares for him so much too. why Luffy's stubborn insistence on loving him without condition is so familiar) #I don't even know if these tags are making any sense but IM FEELING THINGS OK #donquixote rosinante #Corazon

i can't get over how zosan is literally The dumbest duo ever but they're also fucking monsters. you'll hear them going your eyebrow looks like a proboscis. it's stupid (affectionate) and i'm surprised you haven't floated into the stratosphere with how inflated your muscles are (loving) and then they'll turn around and absolutely decimate whoever the hell is standing in their way. they're formidable apart, but together? they bounce off each other's energy. they raze battlefields to the ground. they're invulnerable, they have no weaknesses— not when they're watching each others' backs.
