in the lonely hearts club job leverage asks the question "does romantic love exist?" and answers it by having eliot buy parker a venus fly trap on hardison's behalf, expecting no recognition and revealing eliot remembers a throwaway comment parker made on their second job together.
we all know this.
but was anybody going to tell me hardison already had a browser window open looking for restaurants to buy eliot in portland in response at the start of the episode immediately after that? or was i supposed to figure it out on a rewatch all by myself?!

My favorite reading of Leo’s “indubitably” tell is that it’s not actually a tell, and Leo just plays it up as one so he doesn’t get called out when he really wants to hide something.
Especially since throughout the series we see him lie and trick multiple times without saying the word once.
I like to think that one time when they were kids Leo happened to learn the word “indubitably” and because he tends to repeat new words he learns, he ended up using it at the same time as he was caught lying. He uses the word again later in another lie, and that’s where the association comes from.
OR- counter argument: “indubitably” is one of his tells, but only for unimportant things, especially when said to family. Long plays, particularly ones with villains, are in a different category in his head.

May we get snipped of the aulpha Strider household? Is Hal there 24/7 or wandering like Sawtooth did and only occasionally showing up? Did Squarewave and Sawtooth make it to the future, or did Dirk never built them at all?How is Daves relationship with Hal?
Tumblr media
had this sketch stitting around so i finally cleaned it up a bit for this ask sjdjdk
sawtooth and squarewave are there ofc! theyre helping as best as they can, i imagine dirk build them for a different purpose but then was like "wait actually leaving hal alone with a toddler in a postalocalyptic future in the middle of the ocean is a very shit idea" so he left them in stasis with hal to act as a moral support lmfao. daves having a blast with squarewave, its a rapoff 24/7 in this household, and sawtooth isnt around too much like in the canon, but when he shows up he keeps an eye on both of them (very youngest-middle-oldest sibling dynamic with hal as a tired robodad). also hal and sawtooth are in a constant argument about how to best raise this human child (theyre both probably kinda garbage at it but theyre trying their best)

q!Bad’s monologue:
“Cellbit and Bagi are two people who pay very close attention to what people say, but they’re not the only ones who do… especially right now, with the kids missing. I’m paying very close attention to what everybody says… and I’m paying very close attention to what I am saying.
I always say things with a purpose. sometimes what comes across as a mistake, is exactly what you want the other person to hear. because if people underestimate you, they won’t prepare against you…”
ooo he was so cool for this. it’s insane how every chat is done with purpose and intention. as we continue going in the lore and he has more interesting conversations with ppl, never forget what he said here

Hc:
Tim got some homophobic comments at a gala once and decided to be petty as shit about it (as he damn well should).
He waited three months before bribing Jason to break into this guy's car. The Red Hood didn't know what exactly he was installing, but he was promised significant intel on some annoying cases and videos of whatever he wired into the guy's car.
After the guy turns on their car, Ram Ranch blares on full blast. It's so loud (and the guy hates the song so much) that the guy starts taking Ubers everywhere.
Tim, acknowledging the guy had not suffered enough, does an interview with Gotham Globe where he mentions that "someone" once said homophobic comments to him at a gala. He doesn't name them, which makes people even more curious who the hell said that to Timothy Drake-Wayne.
Tim had this whole plan that led to the person either realizing the errors in their ways or Tim would make an example out of them. Unfortunately, Tin didn't get the chance to enact his evil plans. Instead, the idiot confronts Tim pubically, thus naming themself the perpetrator.
Suffice to say, with the whole Wayne family making that guy's life a living hell post reveal, they had to move out of Gotham.

thinkin about how hangman is seen by the dagger cohort as unpredictable/unreliable/a wildcard in the air but he is always perfectly in control of himself. throwing darts blind, changing the song on the jukebox to flirt with rattle rooster, swallowing his disappointment when mav doesn’t pick him to run the mission.
thinkin about how rooster is seen as mr reliable/always has your back in the air but time and time again we see that he’s nowhere near in control of himself. the corkscrew cobra bs with mav, attempting to kick hangman’s ass in front of the whole assignment, refusing to fly the sim any way other than his way to prove a spiteful point.
they’re both told they need what the other has but the truth is they’re mirrors, reflecting the faults and flaws they try to ignore back to one another over and over again. it’s not that hangman’s got to rein in his impulsivity - he has to cede a bit of control and trust the team. it’s not that rooster needs to ‘don’t think just do’ - he’s got to stop letting his emotions dictate his flying, make a plan, and execute it without any shadow of a doubt that he can get it done.
i just *curls fist softly* fuckin love character foils.

andrew and neil ride a roller coaster
OH BOY i have a whole wip brewing that's like a study of andrew's fear of heights so this has my thoughts reeling in like the least-funny directions 😂 but wait hmmmm i can do it i can find the crack!!! or maybe just random kidfic? anyway:
there's something to be said about people's desperation to not repeat the mistakes of their parents. andrew, who justifiably has many opinions on how adults should treat children, can acknowledge that this is a noble pursuit.
however: aaron's children are fucking spoiled.
emily, still recovering from a fried dough-related meltdown, is relatively quiet now that neil has picked her up and allowed her to hide her face in his neck. she's really getting too big for this behavior, but again: spoiled. aaron's other gremlin is gripping andrew's hand with the strength of a professional athlete as she guides them through the crowded fairground.
this whole thing is neil's fault. andrew isn't sure what kind of deal he and aaron have made this time, but it involved babysitting for the long weekend while aaron and katelyn take a vacation. this alone? not a big deal. but katelyn had apparently promised to take the twins to the fair this weekend, and neil's commitment to the bit means the four of them are here: sunburned and sweat-sticky in this dusty wasteland of cow poop, rickety rides, and the unrelenting cheer of carnival music.
"three tickets each," fiona reads proudly, pointing to the ride that she has led them to. fiona is unruffled by the crowds or the sun that has turned her cheeks pink despite the layers of sunscreen they have lathered on her all day. "three tickets for me and three tickets for you," she says to andrew.
she holds her free hand up to neil, today's ticketholder. palm up, expectant, unaware of a reality where she could be denied. "six, please."
neil adjusts his grip on emily as he digs in his pocket for the roll of tickets. emily resurfaces long enough to demand that she gets to count off the six tickets, and andrew is struck by the patience on neil's face as emily tears them off one by one to hand to fiona. it did not come naturally: neil avoided the twins as newborns, and then was generally unsure of what to do with them for a long time. andrew supposes they've all done some growing up in the last five years.
"i can go with her, if you'd prefer," neil says to andrew. andrew glowers in response. it's a kids coaster -- barely taller than a second story building and moving slower than a golf cart. andrew does not need to be coddled.
emily makes a pitiful sound at neil's suggestion, dropping the remaining tickets as she wraps her arms around neil's neck in refusal. neil huffs a laugh, shifting again to ensure he doesnt drop her. fiona dives to grab the tickets, shooting a significant stink eye at her sister as she hands them to andrew.
"don't worry, uncle andrew," fiona says. "i'll hold your hand if you're scared."
andrew wasn't wrong: the coaster is slow and the dips aren't steep. but they are still enough to send his stomach swooping. fiona shrieks happily every time, and andrew will give aaron's kids one thing: they understand the sanctity of a promise. fiona never lets go of andrew's hand.

This matters so much to me
Ballister and Ambrosius were pretty darn subtle in the graphic novel, which is understandable since most of it takes places years after their breakup, Ambrosius is very much an antagonist to Nimona and Ballister’s protagonists roles, and Ballister isn’t the most talkative about his past and present pain. Still, I’m so happy we’ll actually get more scenes of their relationship
Shoot, this might be a flashback. Or… it might be a quieter, melancholic-yet-happier version of the bar scene from the gn (something sweet to make the bar fight hurt even more). We only see Ballister’s left arm here after all, so who’s to say if this is pre- or post-losing his right arm
(It might also be the moment from the epilogue — since we also only see half of Ambrosius’s face, we can’t say for sure he doesn’t have the scaring he has in the end. But I’m gonna cross my fingers for a mid-movie moment)
