Reasons why I love it: How Sine manages to fit so much emotion and tension into so few words, I will never understand. I'm just happy that we get to share in the brilliance. This fic is incredible, and I hope you give it a shot for yourself!

Summary: Tony Stark sometimes doesn't make the best choices with his health. Tony is usually bad at communicating. Steve usually doesn't end up in medical, but there are always exceptions. Phil Coulson is the one who has to write up this nonsense, and he can't keep the Avengers out of medical.

Reasons why I love it: This fic is so goddamn funny. That is, until the action starts, then it's nail-bitingly suspenseful and super engaging to read. I love the team family vibes here, as always in scifigrl47's writing, and their obvious concern for Tony, once they realize what's going on with him. This is one of my comfort fics, so if you haven't read it yet, go and do it right now!

It's possible that Steve has come to the wrong conclusion about this, and Tony's complete and utter inability to act like a mature human being around Steve probably doesn't help matters. At this point even Coulson wants to take action about this, because things are becoming, quite frankly, ridiculous.

Reasons why I love it: The fluffiest fluff to ever fluff. I love the Avengers family vibes in this. And the post-mission half-awake bed sharing misunderstanding is super adorable. Plus, I really want that picture of Tony and Thor sleeping on the couch. I love this fic, and I bet you will too!

Reasons why I love it: They're so CUTE, ugh, I want to squish them. This fic is downright adorable, and I love how it handles the Civil War and Endgame and manages to add an A/B/O twist that feels more like an addition to canon rather than an AU. Steve, Bucky and Tony's characterizations are so perfect here, and I absolutely adore their conversation about their relationship going forward. This fic is amazing, and I highly encourage you to read it!

Ben 10 lore that exists in my heart regardless of canon

- Ben’s personality in his mid-late teens is a mix of his Alien Force and Omniverse self. On the surface, he’s very cheerful and kind even if he is a bit of arrogant showoff. He makes jokes and plays around and acts as if he isn’t bothered by the things in his life. Those who know him best understand a good portion of his outward confidence and cockiness is just a facade to cover up his insecurities and to project the ideal, effortless hero. While sometimes seen as immature, most beings know Ben 10 means business as he takes his unofficial job and people’s safety very seriously. He’s clever, adaptable, charismatic and empathetic which makes him a formidable opponent and a loyal friend. Doesn’t open up easily but if you get to him, he become so dearly attached. 

- Drinks smoothies so much for several reasons. Comfort food go brrr, reminds him of the good easy times with him Gwen and Kev. It’s also a light but generally nutritous food to give him energy for heroing. Anything too heavy and he’ll be puking (both from physical and emotional stress). Though he jokes about his mom’s health foods, his are a crazy concoction of add in proteins and vitamins/minerals bc he knows he’ll out and out collapse without it. (Still has on occasion bc boy still doesn’t eat right/enough)

- While Fame is exciting for him at first he soon begins to detest it. Not the fans, no, he can’t bring himself to hate the people who look up to him. But he hates the constant attention, that he can’t walk outside without being mobbed. the only place he feels safe is his hometown where most people are so used to him and his weirdness that they don’t react much anymore. Takes to wearing a cape and face shield when going out anywhere so he can actually get things done without being recognized and mobbed.

- Part of the reason Bellwood isn’t concerned with Ben is partially because ben’s been weird and alien for as long as they can remember but also many don’t realize how famous/powerful he is. Yeah that’s just Ben Tennyson over there, sometimes he turns into funny creatures- wait what do you MEAN he’s the savior of the universe?? He cried over a spilled smoothie the other day.

- Does mostly online schooling by the time he’s 15. At first he tries to do half day things to maintain something of a normal life but it quickly becomes overwhelming and dangerous him/the school. Finishes his GED early but the Plumbers and Azmuth make him take additional college level and alien courses to prepare him for his future role. Ben gripes but really does love learning all these things, especially on his terms (ADHD and stress + the public school system do not always go hand in hand). He’s a quick learner when he deems the information important and is made accessible to his learning needs.

- Ben definitely has ADHD speaking of which, it was nearly uncontrollable as a child bc his free-spirited parents didn’t believe in medicating. Ben convinced them he needed it and after some trial and error, found meds that worked. As he became more involved in heroics/growing up he had to change his medicine regimen (resulting in him being a bit more off the rails in OV) and needed antidepressants and therapy to manage it better. As an adult he has a whole litany of coping mechanisms (good and bad yes) and regularly checks in with his therapist and doctors to keep things under control. 

- Has a complicated relationship with his necrofriggian children. Considers himself their mother and worries after them. They too feel a connection to their parent despite this being unusual for their species. A few visit (some more than others) while they grow while others maintain distance. Ben never breathes a word of them to the media for fear of them being targeted. Still he keeps an eye on them and ensures all 14 mature to adulthood (another rarity for the species). Checks in every now and again with the ones who don’t want to see him and those that do. Two join the Plumbers and Ben is both proud and worried. His youngest becomes partners with Rook Ben.

- Just in general loves kids, they’re his favorite fans and while he’ll grumble at pushy adult fans he always smiles and kneels down for the little ones. Not so secretly wanted to have children of his own but knew it was a risk overall and used a lot of that energy with mentoring and teaching. Eventually had Kenny later in life (late 30s-40s) and was over the moon, becoming such a loving and doing parent or as much as he could be with his hectic schedule. 

- Omnitrix can’t come off, never has at any point since it first latched onto Ben’s arm. Azmuth tried and failed to get the device off, doesn’t let Ben know for many years as he feared the consequences. The watch loves and protects Ben even beyond it’s programming making him much more durable to damage and releasing energy charges when he’s threatened. Not even removing Ben’s arm would separate them. They’re stuck for life.

- Ben does have Anodite heritage but the Omnitrix actively suppresses it and uses the built up energy to power the transformations which is why ben is mostly unaffected by what should cause a massive energy drain on him. Theoretically if Ben learned to harness and safely use his Mana at an early age like Gwen he would have been fine but letting it build up without safe outlet meant activation would have killed him. Omnitrix Ben, however, went his whole life not knowing of his latent abilities and how the watch saved his life.

- Ben’s eyes get more green and glowy as time passes from the Omnitrix. At first they think its a trick of the light but by the time he’s an adult his eyes are pretty much glow in the dark. His veins light up too after long stretches of using the Omnitrix. Its vaguely unsettling to people who aren’t used to Ben.

- Max and the Earth Plumbers work so, so hard to keep teen Ben on Earth when half the universe is blowing up their comm lines asking for The Ben 10 to help with whatever problem of the day. Ben himself doesn’t quite understand when he’s younger the prestige and expectations on his shoulders. Max throws up a million and one roadblocks so Ben can live as normal a life as possible while he still can. Still, while doing that he Still overloads Ben with expectations and responsibilities on earth and beyond. He becomes a soldier again with Ben as their greatest weapon. He never forgave himself of losing sight of his grandson underneath the hero esp after Ben’s breakdown. 

- Rook partnership with Ben ends not long after Omniverse with his promotion to Magister. Ben tries to play it cool but the thought of another loved one/teammate leaving his tears him apart. Max revealing that Ben most likely wouldn’t get a new Plumber assigned partner since he’s almost an adult and won’t need it and Rook accidentally missing their last smoothie run due to a scheduling mishap causes Ben to snap and have the nervous breakdown that had been building for almost a decade. He completely loses it for a little while and needs to take an extended leave of absence from school and heroics that lasts about a year. Spends time recovering both on Earth and Galvan Prime, does some diplomatic training, learns about aliens, actually confronts the stress and loneliness of his life. He comes out the other side stronger but still fragile and exhausted.

- Ben’s above mentioned breakdown brings him closer to all his friends who didn’t quite realize the extent of Ben’s burden. Rook had been under the impression Ben didn’t like him all that much so the knowledge that his departure was the final straw for friend/hero’s collapse was shocking. Ben and Azmuth also become closer, the Galvan becoming fiercely protective of the boy seeing as his Earth family didn’t do well to keep him safe. It takes years for him to get over his anger at Max for putting so much on his grandchild. Ben makes more friends, in and out of the hero business, finally gets a therapist and gets some of his burdens eased a bit. It’s not a sure fire fix and Ben has several smaller breakdowns the rest of his life but its something.

- Azmuth was straight up suicidal before he met Ben for the first time. Ben gave him back hope for the universe and his ability to create items for peace not weapons. The boy infuriates him, frightens him, frustrates him but Azmuth cannot deny in his heart of hearts that he loves Ben dearly. He’s very upset at Ben’s breakdown and doesn’t know how to handle the worst of the initail outbursts. Azmuth talks Ben down from a suicide attempt. He reaches out to Ben that he Too felt overwhelmed by pressure, thought himself only good for war. Ben’s arrival in his life saved him and now he will do the same for Ben. It’s the first positive step forward in Ben’s recovery.

- For no other reason than I like it, Azmuth primarily refers to Ben as Benjamin (mostly to annoy the kid but he likes the way it sounds too) and Ben in softer, more serious moments. 

- Professor Paradox continues to flit in and out of Ben’s life. He says its because Ben is the most equipped to handle universal peril (true) but he’s also just very fond of the boy. Ben, existing in so many forms and having such importance also exists a beat outside of normal reality which Paradox identifies with. Ben is naturally attuned to time related problems because of this (instantly IDing Spanner as from the future before being told later deducing him to be his unborn son). Plus Ben named him, way back when. He’s just drawn to Ben.

- Adult Ben, while being seen as an impressively skilled fighter and champion, really has his strength as a universal diplomat of sorts. Based out of Earth, he helps mediate and defuse conflicts, advocate against tyranny and overall preserve peace and balance. He’s not perfect, he makes mistakes and sometimes is forced to become violent (and yes kill) but overall is regarded as a peacekeeper, something younger ben simply couldn’t understand. 

- Gwen gets her degree and primarily does work with advocacy and teaching about magic/alien culture. While she and Ben are still close, there’s a bit of a frustrated divide in that she isn’t helping him share the burden of the universe. Gwen never wanted to be a hero and has enough worth to not shackle herself to a job that’ll burn her out. Ben loves heroing but gives too much of himself away trying to fix everything. They get into screaming arguments that it wouldn’t be so bad out there if she just helped him but she refuses to budge and says he shouldn’t make himself do so much. They always make up and thy still are each other’s closest relationships.

- Ben marries Kai in a political move, Kai is Asexual and Ben Aromantic. They didn’t love each other but they got on well enough and Ben was really feeling the stress of carrying the hero burden so Kai also being involved made him feel like he wasn’t alone. Both were also so tired of the universe constantly asking about their love life and said ‘fuck it we’re married leave us alone’. Gwen was always mad about it feeling Ben deserved better but the two of them were happy with it. They had separate rooms, mostly separate lives but they became strong friends and supports with their strictly platonic marriage. They had Ken via Invitro in an incubator and were loving if extremely busy parents. 

- Also from the moment he appeared, Ben knew that Spanner was his future son, Kenny. He played ignorant and then was kind of deliberately teasing him in future encounters. He knew the rules of time and didn’t want to disrupt things further even if he was angry and worried as heck about why Ken felt the need to time travel. When future Ben catches up in the timeline, Kenny gets SUCH a lecture. 

- Ben isn’t quite immortal but he’s also not entirely human anymore either. The Omnitrix not only keeps him safe from most harm but it lightens the effect of aging. Ben 10 is active many, many years when most humans would have been forced to retire. He’s not sure how long the watch will keep him alive and it terrifies him. Gwen too is functionally immortal however she ages like a normal human, then when her natural death came, shed her skin and became a fulltime Anodite. So in the end, it was her and Ben together wondering which of them will die first. Gwen has trouble retaining her humanity as pure energy and swears she’ll let herself fizzle out when Ben goes. When that’ll be however...

I was going to pepper you with asks for headcanons about various Thomas ships, but I think I'll just save time and ask you for all of them. Not a bunch of bullet points for each of them, of course. Just like, a couple sentences.

Henry: here. It could be cute and functional. They're both reasonably mature people and I don't see any obvious points of contention. Might make for an interesting post-ink story, where they reunite in the sketch dimension.

Joey: This is one of the less likely ships I've seen, and if it did happen, it would be very volatile and damaging to both of them. There are very interesting things to do with this dynamic but I'd need a lot more than a couple sentences to get into them. It would most likely end with Joey in a hospital and Thomas guilt-ridden in a prison cell. They could bring out the worst in each other. It probably has a better chance of starting if Thomas believes he’s irredeemable and just wants someone to talk to about the ink machine and someone to enjoy the company of who he’s not very concerned about hurting.

Sammy: here. There are obviously things going against them pairing up, but I can actually see these two having a very supportive relationship so long as Sammy is mature and they aren't getting into angry fights all the time. Plus, they have a shared history of being complicit in the ink-related stuff, so that’s nice.

Jack: I can't see this. I don't think Jack would be attracted to someone so gruff and harsh. They also have very different approaches to life that could cause some contention- Thomas wants (and has had to) fight for respect, Jack just wants to enjoy life, stuff like that. I think if they did start dating for whatever reason, they'd figure out that sparks aren't flying and would break up after a few weeks.

Allison: Yes. Here. There’s a lot to say about these two, but for starters, I like how they have very different reactions to guilt, with Allison ignoring it entirely and Thomas getting caught in it. I like to think that canonically they both guided each other to the best path- learning from their mistakes and moving forwards. There’s a lot of other stuff I like about it, too- Allison’s optimism and Thomas’ responsibility balancing out their more negative traits, that they both have a history of addiction, etc. Yeah, I like these two a lot.

Susie: I think that Thomas would find Susie kind of needy and annoying, and unlike with Allison (who’s a lot worldlier), he wouldn’t find her optimism helpful or inspiring- he’d find it naïve. But he’d teach her stuff like self-defence and how machines work, and wouldn’t let Joey get within ten feet of her. So there would be some cute moments. Might work better as an OT3.

Wally: This is how you give Thomas an annoyance-induced heart attack. Thomas wouldn’t like Wally’s laziness and irresponsibility, and Wally wouldn’t like Thomas basically acting like his parent. Expect lots of bickering.

Norman: This would be funny and also short-lived. Thomas wouldn’t like Norman’s weird behaviour (weird jokes, talking about stalking people, psychoanalysis, etc.), and Norman would just laugh it off when Tom snaps at him to cut it out. Norman wouldn’t be too into Thomas, either. Too bitter.

Grant: This could work out long-term- Grant doesn’t demand a lot of attention, they’re both mature and responsible, etc. Like with Susie, I imagine that Thomas would want to teach Grant some stuff like self-defence and mechanics, and Grant might have some more intellectual stuff to teach Thomas as well. They could end up bringing the worst out in each other, but it also has the potential to be a nice, supportive relationship.

Shawn: Yep, nope. Shawn is loud, highly irresponsible, doesn’t take anything seriously... he’s basically Wally but angrier and more defiant and- yeah, these two aren’t lasting past their first fight as a couple, if they even made it that far.

Lacie: Could work. Neither of them need much attention, they can handle themselves, etc. They’re very similar when it comes down to it. The only difficult part is finding an angle for it that’s interesting to tell a story about.

Bertrum: AU where Thomas leaves GENT, starts working for Colossal wonders alongside Lacie, marries a sugar daddy and lives happily ever after. Why not?

- You two met at a gaming shop!

- You were looking for a gift for your best friend’s younger sister, as much as you liked games yourself- buying one for a 12 year old was another story.

- You were freaking out- you had been in the store for almost an hour searching and nothing would come up.

- You were afraid of not getting a gift at all- that is until you felt a tap from a man in a suit.

- “You look like you’re ten seconds away from crying,” Itaru looked at you, “Need some help?”

- He didn’t know why he’d helped you, you were kind of cute and, unlike with other things, he was a bit more open to helping others when it came to video games.

- “Please,” you turned around, “I need a game for a 12 year old but I just don’t know! I-I don’t want her to think I think she’s a child but she can’t play anything too… you know, grown up or else her parents will kick my ass.” You whine, maybe if things had gone better you’d be embarrassed but embarrassment is simply something you cannot feel right now, you’re against the clock and you’re tired.

- “Hmm, a 12 year old girl… thought about Puppy Crossing?”

- And that’s how you spent the next 30 minutes, discussing a game for the kid with a 20-something year old blue collar.

- By the end you had bought the gift plus a recommendation Itaru had given you based on your short, but surprisingly sweet, interaction.

- The second time you met was, again, at the store but this time it was for you instead of a kid. Thankfully.

- He was wearing another suit, you guessed he really was an office worker; what was he doing here though? What business would guy with such a high paying job, you assumed by his suit and clothes, have in such a small game store in the middle of a gaming street.

- You shrugged it off before returning to browsing, you really shouldn’t judge.

- After a few minutes he noticed you and approached you asking about the game he’d recommended for the girl last time. After gladly informing him about the success the gift had- both of you quickly began talking about the game he’d recommended you.

- After that you two began meeting up in the shop- not on purpose or anything, it just kind of happened.

- In most situations he might’ve been annoyed but for some reason he couldn’t really bring himself to be mad. He enjoyed being able to shamelessly talk about games, online and competitive, pay to win or free to play, with a cute person who didn’t judge him.

- It became a weekly occurrence and you really enjoyed it. Eventually he asked you out on a date, it’d be in an internet cafe near the store, and you said yes.

- You were looking forward to being able to know him better, not in a store or just as friends but maybe… as a possible s/o? You slap your cheeks at the thought, silly [Name], that wouldn’t happen... right?

- That is until he called in sick stating he had grown ill with the flu and you were worried, he sounded like he was in hell based on the phone call. He was coughing, his voice sounded muffled, he kept sneezing too, you were surprised he could even dial with how bad he sounded.

- When you tried to call him his number went straight to voicemail so you did what anyone would do;

- You called in to his home number (which he had given you when he gave you his business card, yes he gave you his business card instead of giving you his phone number like a normal person).

- “Hello, Izumi Tachibana speaking.” Your heart kind of stops when you hear a woman’s voice and you wonder if maybe you’d been a side piece, but thinking back to Itaru and how he acted with you - you doubted it.

- “Izumi? Ah, eh… is a Itaru Chigasaki there?”

- “Itaru? Yes, I can give him a message, who’s calling?”

- “Ah, tell him it’s [Name] from the store, I was just worried about him…”

- “[Name], huh? Wait, you mean you’re [Name] [Last Name]?”

- “Ehh… yes?”

- Turns out Itaru had told his roommate maybe wife maybe kid(?) about you?

- You didn’t know he had roommates, he looked well off so why couldn’t he afford a house? Maybe she was a girlfriend and they were in a open relationship? So many questions…

- You thought you wouldn’t really mind but it turns out your cheeks were now bright red when Izumi explained how Itaru had been talking about you often and promptly invited you to check up on Itaru, who was in fact ill. She also gave you a rundown of the situation, turns out he was part of some acting company and she was the director, so with a lighter heart you decided to take her up on going over to check on him.

- Big mistake.

- You were going to stop by after work, you decided, you’d also go and buy him some soup for his stomach just in case. You arrived at the house and welcomed inside by a smiling Tachibana and a strange bird before you were given a rundown of some rules.

- “Knock first, always knock first. If you hear anything between a grunt or a yes you’re in the clear, if you hear anything like a groan or a curse wait before knocking again. If you happen to hear something falling over or a scream I’ll text you when it’s safe for you to come over again. You seem like a nice person, so please don’t forget any of the rules! Now- go!”

- She quickly pushed you in front of the door and knocked for you before bolting behind the stairs, you received a quick thumbs up before she hid again.

- You were now alone in a dorm room looking for a grown man who had called in sick to a date with you, this wasn’t exactly how you thought your friday evening was going to go. You knock the door and put your ear next to the wood… no grunt, had Izumi explained what a no-grunt meant?

- You look at her general direction where she looks confused but encourages you to go in, so you shrug it off before turning the handle around - you end up falling over when the door is opened by the man of the hour himself.

- “Oi, Izumi- now that this match is over you can come in with the-! Ah… [Name], this is… embarrassing,” Itaru had turned around ready to scold Izumi when instead he came to see you.

- He looked like shit- he really did, not only because he was sick but because his room was a mess. You knew he liked gaming but this… this was too extreme, was this what they called a gap moe?

- “What the hell…?”

- He invites you in quickly- shoving chips and cans left and right before sitting you down on a couch.

- “What are you doing here- ACHOO!”

- You explained how worried you were about him- how he didn’t answer your calls and so you came to visit with soup (you felt the need to highlight the soup).

- He thanked you for the thought before looking around the room awkwardly remarking it’d be best you left- the flu was contagious after all.

- It was an awkward reaction, even for him- something Izumi doesn’t fail to note once you leave, unlike when anyone else would come in; Itaru couldn’t find it in himself to scold you or threaten you with an immediate and painful death.

- You leave the room quickly and wave goodbye- but not before he slips you a note with a bunch of numbers scribbled on.

- When you arrive home that night you finally realise what it said; it was his friend code.

- And that’s how your first date was on a island in ACNH he made for the date. And that’s how he asked you out too.

- Fucking nerd.

- You were crafting some furniture for your island (which he had happily helped you plan out) when he asks you out via chat.

- Your response? You used the shocked and glad reactions, the only valid reaction.

- Dating him includes video game dates; any server based game multiplayer is used to seeing you two doing some cringe couple shit.

- You will have to bathe him, he can go days without taking a bath so get ready to shove him in a tub.

- He’s not very good at being a boyfriend sometimes, he struggles in the emotional aspect. He’ll base himself a lot in dating sims, like it’s kind of cute but it can be scary if he uses the wrong dating sim.

- Will kabedon you for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only; one, he genuinely wants to know if it works like ??? does it really make people swoon is it really that cool ?? and two, it’s been a life long dream of his let him have this.

- Itaru can be both mature and kind of childish, you’ll have to stomach a lot of tantrums when you get in the way of gaming. But he’s also not a kid, he can be surprisingly mature when he wants to.

- He takes the relationship very seriously, most of the time; he genuinely likes you and he tries to leave gaming but he struggles.

- So, you decide to combine two things; you + games. You’ll go visit him often and play games together on his couch.

- He’s so fucking happy when you do that, it’s cute. He doesn’t mind you using his clothes but do not touch his yellow-tiger bomber jacket he only uses when gaming. Do not.

- The dorm is kind of surprised how much more social Itaru can be with you- they’re so used to seeing him shut himself in with games, but now that you two are together he comes out more often to spend time with you.

- He can be kind of cold and emotionally distant but after awhile you learn that that’s just how Itaru works. He’s kind of aloof and awkward and he can come off as rude sometimes? He just be like that you know.

- That both the shut-in gamer and businessman are the same guy and that you… l*ve him for it.

little impromptu zodiac study, ft. ieiri shouko.

with the revelation that shouko is a scorpio sun, i have decided that the major placements in her chart are as follows: capricorn moon, scorpio rising, virgo venus, and capricorn mars. now let’s take a look at what that means.

scorpio sun:

scorpios are known for their intensity. they are determined folk that absolutely throw themselves into whatever they do — but getting them to commit to something is rarely an easy task. in fact, it’s better not to even try to “get them” to do anything. solar scorpios absolutely have their own mind. and, their primary motivation is unlikely to be prestige, or even authority–it’s real power. their power can absolutely be of the “behind the scenes” variety, just as long as they have it.

to others, scorpios seem to have plenty of willpower. they probably do. scorpios do know what they want, and they won’t go out and grab it at the wrong moment. they simply sit back, watch (quite expertly), and then get it only when the moment is just right. this apparent patience is simply their powerful skills at strategy at work.

scorpio isn’t afraid of getting their hands (their bodies, their minds) dirty. the darker side of life intrigues them, and they’re always ready to investigate.

scorpios simply never give up. they have tremendous staying power. they’re not in the slightest intimidated by anybody or anything. confrontations are not a problem. in fact, talk to any scorpio about their lives, and you’ll probably be in awe at all they’ve gone through. trauma seems to follow them wherever they go. when scorpio learns optimism, instead of expecting the worst, they’ll find that they possess amazing regenerative powers — the power to heal, create, and transform.

this doesn’t really sound like our resident apathetic-and-tired doctor, though i’ve bolded what does or may apply; shouko is not an intense person, she does not seem to have much willpower, and she most definitely is not confrontational. we see that all the way back in the hidden inventory arc where she runs away when geto and gojo are about to fight.

and also when geto defects, she doesn’t even try to stop him. scorpio would absolutely make an attempt.

so scorpio alone might seem a bit out there, but in combination with her other placements...

capricorn moon:

calm, cool, and collected—these words sum up moon in capricorn natives well. messy emotions and “leaky” souls are a bit frightening for most with this position of the moon. truth is, they can have plenty of mood swings and some dark emotions now and again. lunar capricorns are often quite hard on themselves, and would benefit from letting their guard down once in a while. they quickly garner reputations of being mountains of strength, and they easily hide their sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner.

you may have read that moon in capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. the fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other 11 sign positions of the moon—they simply aren’t comfortable “letting go” when it comes to emotions. they keep their emotions under control. wherever capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well-managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner.

thiiiiiiiiiis is much more in line with shouko. the moon is the sign that involves emotions, habits, reactions and instincts; so this cold, calculating, sarcastic, in control persona - that’s our girl ! i’ll talk more about how these two work with each other in a sec.

scorpio rising:

scorpio ascendant people have a lot of presence. there is something about them that tells the world that they are not to be pushed around. their manner commands respect, and in some cases, fear. scorpio rising people can be quiet or loud, but they always seem powerful and determined.

you either love or hate scorpio rising people –they are rarely people who go through life unnoticed. in fact, some of them are confused when faced with the fact that they get such strong reactions from others. they seem to look right through people, seeing through superficiality. this can be quite intimidating to some, and intriguing to others. scorpio rising people, in their dealings with others, look for answers by reading between the lines. surface details are discarded when they are getting a feel for people and situations around them.

scorpio sun / capricorn moon ( this is a long one oops ):

people with their sun in scorpio and their moon in capricorn have a natural instinct to protect themselves regardless of how kind they may seem when interacting with others. they will never allow money to rule them. they want security and to support themselves, but they don’t insist on getting rich. they are the most mature scorpios in the zodiac. wise and disciplined from a young age, these guys are also calm and approachable. while they seem very grave and composed, they don’t think of themselves as being like this. private and secretive, they don’t want all the attention to be on them. when they happen to be in the center of the stage, they prefer to keep things low key.

their main goals in life are gaining other people’s respect, having a good reputation and making a good living. it doesn’t matter how warm they seem on the outside, they will always look for these things. if they would be able to recognize their authoritative presence, it would be easier for them to deal with people.

scorpio sun capricorn moon individuals have high standards and aren’t very tolerant of people who don’t act the way they think it’s correct. but they should respect others as much as they want to be respected. just like all the scorpios, they have a high libido and can make anyone go crazy. they will use others in a subtle way and get what they want. when they see helpless people, they simply don’t know what to do. not to mention how scared they are of seeing their weaknesses in others.

while confident and sure of themselves on the outside, these scorpios are anxious and confused on the inside. they don’t believe in empty compliments and if they won’t explore their emotions and spirituality, they’ll remain these cold characters with whom few can get along.

scorpio sun / scorpio rising:

double scorpios function best when they’re left alone to do things their own way. and that works, because no one can keep up with them anyway. plus, they’re intensely self-motivated, mostly because their guilt level soars if they don’t do the best job possible. so there’s really no need to supervise them. the sorts of hands-on management and direction that other people might find helpful or even reassuring is apt to be considered by double scorpios as needless meddling. they don’t take well to what they perceive to be an invasion of their turf. they want enough space and privacy to go about their business in their own unseen way, and when things work to their advantage they use their investigative skills to quickly build a body of knowledge and otherwise hard-to-come-by data that affords them a great deal of job security. what’s happened is they’ve worked themselves into a position where they’re absolutely indispensable. they simply know too much, and they’ve got the goods on everyone. whether it’s at home, at work, or at the pta, these scorpios have ferreted out the useful information that everyone else needs.

also pretty self-explanatory - shouko is literally indispensable, she prefers to do things on her own, and doesn’t like when things get in the way. this all seems much more in line with what we’ve been shown, and for the sake of this post being long as fuck already ( if u read all this i’m kissing u ), i’ll save her mars and venus for another time !

I am a very creative sort of individual with hundreds of ideas constantly occupying my little impish head. And I am very spontaneous too, so I can always adjust to a new setting, depending on how good and compelling the concept is.

Inspirations come from various sources and origins, be it a fandom (an already existing universe) or an original storyline. Communication: It’s certainly chill. You can talk to me about whatever occupies your mind since I am very open and always happy to listen to others. I also tend to be chatty, sharing a meme or a joke every now and to loosen up the mood. If you consider choosing me as your roleplaying partner, be sure to maintain a certain consistency. I have nothing against going on a longer break or even a hiatus, but the whole `ghosting stick´ is something I have no patience for. So if you’re unsure of upholding a stable, long term partnership, feel free to skim past this ad. 

 Plotting: Also very important to note! I am fairly quick when it comes to building new characters, concepts, premises, storylines, backstories, etc… This means there is certain flexibility available which allows me to adjust. Even though it is a hobby, I am still extremely passionate about good storytelling and interesting character arcs. I hope to meet someone who is just as enthusiastic and willing to put in the same amount of effort as I am. If it’s only me who’s pulling all the weight, I will lose interest fast, just to get it out there. Aside from that, I love going a little crazy with the possibilities and push things to their absolute limits. Of course within the boundaries of the given setting.

 Pairing & Romance: Okay, right off the bat, I am a hopeless romantic through and through. I enjoy good and strong chemistry between characters just as much as the next, and this will be no exception. I prefer the good ol’ MxF pairing because I have more experience with this. But I also like playing a FxF dynamic or MxM. Everyone is welcome! When it comes to pairing itself, I want to make sure our creations are compatible, for I hate forcing characters into a romantic relationship for the sake of progression. A natural flow is what I am aiming for. ;)

 Mature? Yes, very much so:  Adult and taboo topics are absolute. There’s no way around it because, in my stories, it is a running theme. The adult world is not easy to handle, but it’s definitely interesting to explore. That includes violence, cursing, shocking content, and all that dark stuff. My limits are few, safe for a couple of minor pet peeves that I have, I am pretty much open to some experimentation. When it comes to action-heavy scenes (be it an intimate situation between two characters or something on a cataclysmic scale), I won’t fade to black since I am not a huge fan of censoring. However, I will not force or push my partner into something they are not comfortable with. If you want to know the extent to how far I am willing to go, what sort of content or how detailed my writing will be, you can ask me directly. As for smut or lemons, whatever you call it, it will never be the focus of any of my roleplays, but I enjoy a good erotic scene with a lot of tension (if they are good). 

 Boundaries: Not a big fan of things like pedophilia, necrophilia, scat, bestiality, or those dreaded ‘futas’.

Inspirations and interests: There’s a pretty broad spectrum of what I deem interesting and inspirational. From fallen angels and demon/monster hunters, mages, criminal masterminds, cybernetically enhanced characters to futuristic dystopian settings, ancient kingdoms who have fallen against the test of time. All of it causes my heart to skip a beat. For original content, I’ll just give a brief list of bullet points of the general themes that fall in line with my current interests. 

Writing: My texts are lengthy, detailed, and elaborate. Third-person is usually my preferred way of playing my character unless there’s a special case where an exception can be made. Word count usually fluctuates, though I have a standard form of 400-500+ words per response. It also highly depends on the given situation. I don’t want to set anything in stone… just to give you a basic idea of what you’re in for. I also expect my partner to have an at least adequate, if not decent grasp on basic grammar and punctuation. 

 Doubling: Yes, absolutely! If you are prone to doubling, chances are I might accept you as my partner straight away! Although I have nothing against the simple form of roleplaying, doubling is something I’ve done since my first time joining. 

 Characters: Very character-driven with the main focus being on interaction. I take my time writing characters and love nothing more than well-structured sheets that illustrate the vision of their creator. (But!) There’s no need to write 10-20 pages worth of character information, but I wouldn’t want to limit you either. As for the depiction of the given character, I won’t be as presumptuous as to tell you what sort of medium you can and cannot use. Face claims such as photos of real models, illustrations, 3D models, drawings or descriptions are all okay. As long as it gets its point across, I am happy.

 Aversions: A few minor things that irritate me, or let’s say, aren’t really my style are one-liners, low effort responses and out of character behaviors in canon characters. We all have different takes on characters, which is totally fine by me since I basically do the same. Though if the character acts and behaves unlike their personality dictates, it will break the immersion. I hope to stay true to my own words when saying this. If it happens on my side, just let me know! Another pet peeve of mine is that one plot that has been done time and time again…. and I’ve grown quite jaded towards it, which is ‘supernaturals trying to fit into human society’ thing… I mean, I’m not opposed to borrowing from this idea, but for me, it grew old pretty fast. Speaking from experience.

 Passione: My wish is to find a partner whom I can have a good time with and develop some chemistry. After all it is a fun hobby. We both should have fun with what we’re writing. Brainstorming among other things is one of my favorite things to do. To see how things unfold and how the characters react to the given situation is the highlight of any story.

FANDOM:



I love roleplaying fandoms just as much as I have a blast with building something original universes. Worldbuilding is my preferred cup of tea… but if we opt for something more fandom inspired, I highly welcome in on expanding on the given universe and add some original lore too!

Hellsing: Haven’t done that one before and I am curious as to how things play out, especially in such a dark and mystifying universe like Hellsing. There’s a lot of subject matter that we can delve into, plus I am a big fan of powerful vampire characters!

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: I would love you for this. No, seriously, I would. This fandom has sucked me into a downward spiral and there’s no possible chance of escaping this inescapable void. The absolute insanity of this franchise had me hooked from the second I laid eyes on it and I would be forever ecstatic if you’d message me on behalf of roleplaying Jojo. I have plenty of ideas for this one, just you wait.

Full Metal Alchemist: One of my favorite mangas and animes ever made. Recently I’ve begun rewatching FMA Brotherhood and felt a small hint of nostalgia swelling inside my blackened heart. I’d be open to play it, though it is not one of my top cravings at the moment.

Justice League / Young Justice / Justice League Dark: Huge DC fan, though I much prefer the animations and comics over the live-action cinematic. Let’s just say, I like the expansive and dynamic set of possibilities and deep, well-written cast. For instance Hellblazer Constantine or Raven.  

Bayonetta: Need I say more? Let’s dance boys!

Supernatural: From angels to demons, from gods to monsters, I’ve seen it all and I absolutely love it. There can be any sort of creature or being involved, ranging from vampires to sirens to elves, you have it. However, I’ve never done something quite relating to angelic beings and their offspring before. I’ve read up on Nephilim and angels and found it rather fascinating, and it’s a different approach from the usual vampire vs werewolf cliche. 


Crime and intrigue: I never stray too far from the supernatural path, but hell, there’s nothing better than some good old gritty mafia inspired stories with a complex cast of characters and a solid storyline.

Sci-fi and urban fantasy: So this could be basically anything from genetically engineered superhuman (superheroes / - villains) with a dark take on the human psyche, dismantling the idea of heroism and villainy. Or a world where mankind began their interstellar journey to colonize neighboring planets, galaxies before transcending their own humanity by merging themselves with deadly technology. I have a few plans for this…

Historical and mysterious setting: So one of my favorite eras is the Victorian time period, 30s - 40s - 80s, Renaissance or Ancient times during the rise of the Egyptian / Roman / Sumerian Empire. During these times, a dark discovery was made by man, learning that they were not alone in this world. In fact, they weren’t even the supreme race that destined themselves to dominate the world, for another race of humanoids have lied dormant deep beneath the earth, slumbering through the millennia only to be re-awakened by a cataclysmic event. These ancient humanoids are gods among men, superior in every way imaginable, and they have made it their mission to reclaim their right to rule. But their nature is not what most people think it is…

The idea: I have an idea for a plot, in which I can give you if you ask for it. It is however merely a suggestion for what we could write - not a mandatory thing. If you don’t like the idea, we can always figure stuff out and keep on home-brewing till we find something we both can enjoy. There’s no need to immediately end things if the first thing doesn’t really fire you up.

alright, lads. those who know me or followed me on my previous blog know that i LOVE to do this. i need to clarify that i study psychology, so these analysis is coming from a professional point of view ( which i do mostly to reinforce my essays because like, teachers love to make us analyse movies and characters lol ) and solidify my characters as my passion is giving a feeling to them of ACTUAL human beings. 

now, i have seen many headcanons of futaba being autistic but, yet again, from a psychological perspective i don’t see it, and i’m gonna explain why. ( however if you headcanon her as autistic is completely valid. this is a personal analysis and perspective ).

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG POST. I’LL TRY TO MAKE IT AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE BUT I KNOW BEFOREHAND IT IS FOR SURE GONNA BE LONG. 

breaking down the character i can see clear signals of depression, anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, hikikomori syndrome and selective mutism; this last one is commonly mistaken with the autistic spectrum because the common knowledge is associating the non-verbal behavior with the autistic spectrum or cases of schizophrenia, but in fact, this condition is not only applicable to those disorders. in real life, some people have been diagnosed with autism when in fact they suffer selective mutism, so it’s better to actually understand the root of the disorder before jumping to conclusions and giving an actual diagnosis. 

let’s start with a short definition of each condition:

MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER: this condition affects negatively on the way a patient feels, thinks or acts. it causes severe feelings of sadness and in the majority of the cases loss of interest in activities that were formerly enjoyed. this also has an effect on the patient’s behavior and can also lead to physical problems. 

( SOCIAL ) ANXIETY DISORDER: a pretty common condition ( there are studies that say that nearly 30% of the adult population suffer from this disorder ). this is actually a normal reaction of the brain when it senses excessive fear or stress, it alerts our brain of possible danger and sometimes it can escalate and turn into panic attacks. 

AGORAPHOBIA: derives from the anxiety disorder. it is the fear of open, big spaces that can handle large crowds. usually the patient’s affected with this phobia feel fear mostly because they anticipate situations like using public transportation, standing in line, etc. it causes an immense fear that leads to panic attacks because they feel trapped, helpless or embarrassed. in some cases, this phobia starts because of previous panic attacks, so the patient will try to avoid those places and if something triggers that feeling, the phobia is going to act up.

HIKIKOMORI SYNDROME: this is a japanese culture-bound syndrome. it affects mostly young people in japan. they live isolated from the world, most of them locked down on their parent’s house ( some of the cases might communicate ONLY with their relatives. in the most severe cases they won’t speak to anyone at all ). this lock down can last days, months or years and it is heavily influenced by the internet and technology, as the it is their only escape. 

SELECTIVE MUTISM: also derives from anxiety disorder. the patient is unable to speak in CERTAIN social situations. it usually starts on childhood but it also affects adults. contrary to its name the person does not refuse to speak, they don’t have a choice as they are truly UNABLE to speak. certain people triggers panic on them and this causes the talking to be impossible, as it is an anxiety disorder, the person will anticipate situation as well that cause distress. however, despite of this trigger the people that suffer from this condition is able to speak freely to close family circles and friends as they don’t really trigger a freeze response on them. mostly this fear comes from the expectation the other person might have on them, and this provokes the anxiety causing a great difficulty responding or initiating verbal communication.

moving to her personality and background, from the very first moment we notice the anxiety coming from her, she is only able to communicate behind a screen and with an alias as she does not really completely trusts the phantom thieves. why do i think she has selective mutism instead of being under the autistic spectrum? easy, when you start the game you can notice sojiro constantly getting calls ( and we realize later on they were from futaba ). meaning that she is able to bond properly with him, sojiro even explains later on the game that she didn’t eat nor talk for a long time and little by little he was regaining her trust to let her know that she wasn’t alone. still, you can notice sojiro’s guilt as he is not able to take her out of the house and he is happy that at least she is eating but still you can see the traces of the depression and anxiety on her personality.

futaba explains her desire to die, a common thought that derives from depression as the people that suffer this condition usually see life as meaningless. she doesn’t want to be seen either, so she covers her face and any trace that could easily identify her because yet again, she needs trust to speak normally to another person, besides she has this constant fear of being judged which shows her anxiety. 

also a very important point is that people with this affections ( anxiety and selective mutism ) is that they might come off as RUDE or BLUNT ( something we notice on futaba ), because they are well, socially inept. however, as soon as she starts spending more time with the thieves she starts acting more relaxed and it’s when she starts showing her cheerful, childish side. i truly believe that these conditions started from her childhood, because as it is stated on her story line, she grew up being a lonely child. kids would just ignore her because she was considered a genius, her mother was never home and she started believing that her mother cared more about her research than being with her, this plus the lack of friendships and her mother’s dead only developed a severe anxiety disorder that later on was going to evolve in the conditions i explained previously. 

the thieves indeed help her to slowly start her process of overcoming her fears, and it shows that initially she didn’t really got along well with all of them, especially makoto because makoto has a more mature vibe than the others and this would only intimidate her and made it hard to actually catch her attention because most of the subjects makoto would bring were considered boring for futaba. remember that social anxiety causes that, you are not going to bond with everyone and only trust can lead to a relationship of reciprocate interest. 

overall, we can see how throughout the game she starts doing better. she creates a list with joker that allows her to conquer her own fears and well, after all everything is a process that takes years. she still relies a lot on the internet, but now she has real interaction and friends, but still when joker is about to leave she thinks about the possibility of them no talking to her anymore because akira is actually the glue in the group. of course thankfully it didn’t go that way, and they remained closed even after their leader left ( it’s canon on P5D don’t touch me ). akira is such an important figure for her as well, he has a lot to do with her improvement and i sense ADMIRATION coming from her, because akira is everything she would never dare to be. however the best chemistry she has among her friends are ryuji and yusuke, as they are easygoing, eccentric people and it’s easier to pick up trust on their personalities, as well as morgana as she shows a deep love for cats. ann, makoto and haru are the completely opposite of what futaba is yet the friendship still work because they take up on the big sis role for her. makoto is extremely mature so she actually helps her to find her boundaries, ann might have caused an issue on her self-esteem at some point but she also is someone she admires because futaba realized that she is not only looks, instead, she is an actual warrior who deals with a lot of things, and haru is the fluff ball that actually spoils her. all the different personalities among the group helps futaba towards her rehabilitation ( i’m sorry, i had to LMAO ). 

an important aspect is sojiro, HE DOESN’T PRESSURE HER INTO ANYTHING, he knows and understand what she is going through and he let her be because he is aware that HE CANNOT CHANGE HER. change and getting better is a personal decision, and of course a person needs support but you can’t actually do it for them. honestly, sojiro is a GREAT paternal figure and he deserves all the love he gets because he is so caring and understanding that he contributes to her growing. also the balance in the group of friends is really important for a person who suffers from severe anxiety disorders because it allows them to interact and explore things that are out of their comfort zone, and this is the case with the thieves. they are so different yet so similar that it is easy for her to understand how despite having a similar background it affects everyone differently, leading her to open up her mind a little and allowing her to understand that the change lies within her.

in summary, we can notice a big change on futaba, she is more comfortable outside and with people and she eventually will be over her traumas. remember that she is still growing up and she has a lot to go through, there will be good and bad times, probably future traumas that might affect her anxiety but that’s what i love about her character, it’s not about “getting cured of the conditions” is learning to live with them because they are apart of you. and this is what the character development on my futaba portrayal will go, it will be her accepting her anxiety and realizing that anxiety doesn’t control her but instead finding balance.

So I saw this one post from someone on their opinion of the love square. And I really wanted to point out a few things but their replies are turned off.... So I'm answering it here anyways.

(This rant is very long, not kidding, if ya feel like reading what's basically a big ass PowerPoint then go right ahead)

- Being a child does NOT give you a pass to stalk, be possessive over, steal from, invade the boundaries, invade the personal space, of someone you have a crush on.

That is wrong. Children should not be allowed to carry on such innapropriate, behavior. No one should.

- Children need guidance and protection. They cannot always learn or handle things on their own....that should be obvious with Marinette and especially Adrien.

Plus-

°I don't think Tom & Sabine ever expected Marinette to be a stalker....so they would never think to teach her otherwise.

- Yes I know she does realize what she's doing is wrong.....but then she just continues anyways. (Or maybe it only seems like she didn't stop because the episodes are out of order? But even then she STILL acts like this in newer episodes so I'm still sticking to what I said.)

°Adrien.......needs to be taken away to a safe & stable household. (Please let Emelie awaken soon, maybe she'll set things straight. Gabriel deserves a divorce & prison.) Even so, Gabriel does recognize such unhealthy behavior. Gabriel also would not at all expect his son to behave so innapropriately. I am purdy sure he thinks Adrien is "perfect." He even calls Adrien "perfection" in one episode. - It would not even cross his mind to teach his son proper etiquette concerning a crush.

Constantly hitting on her, flirting with her, getting up in her space, when she has repeatedly showed him that she is NOT interested in him. Even when she revealed she had feelings for another boy he kept pushing.

- The episode where he thought he had right to be angry when she "stood him up" when - The way "Chat" said it & the way "Lady" reacted? Lady only saw it as a dinner between friends.....He then went on to set up an obviously romantic candlelight dinner.

- Once again, Ladybug has made it specifically clear, she is not interested.

Lady did not even fully agree to said dinner. She said she had plans.

Adri-Chat asked "If they end early, come join me?" Lady said "We'll see."

- That is not a yes, that is a maybe. He didn't even take HER plans into account, didn't even think "Well maybe her plans didn't end early." He just gets mad. And Lady should not have been made to feel guilty just because Adri-Chat cannot seem to take/understand a no & a maybe.

- Adri-Chat getting jealous when that one artist expressed his crush on Ladybug and going on to cross Lady's boundaries by lying about the reality of his & Lady's relationship.

(Yes I know, that dude was an adult and Lady-Mar actually a teen. But at that point in the show I'm pretty sure no one could guess the age of Lady & Chat (strangely) and like Spooderman no one thought them to be actual children.) Adri-Chat did that without thinking or even asking for Lady's input. Not cool at all.

- Acting all happy, triumphant when they regained their memories in Oblivio and Alya caught a pic of their amnesiac selves kissing.

What Adri-Chat says: "We're meant for eachother Milady, you're the only one who doesn't see it." (Okay sigh, this boy.)

1. That is a totally uncalled for, arrogant and presumptuous thing to say to Ladybug.

2. (Entirerly From Adri-Chat's perspective) Oblivio erases memories right? So Adri-Chat doesn't even consider the erasion of Lady's supposed crush on this other boy. Leading her to fall her HIM yes, but that's not the point.

Neither of them were in their right minds, as they had no memories. From HIS perspective Lady did not remember her crush on this other boy, if she did, she would not have fallen for Chat at the time of the memory erasion.

Adri-Chat does not at all think about that, all the while STILL ignoring her feelings for the other boy. Nope, he thinks this is some kind of encouragement to keep harassing her because "Maybe she'll choose me one day?" A.K.A. "Maybe she'll come around one day?" - (contemplating calling it sexual harassment because the characters of course do not get sexual, it being a kid's show) But his intent is to get her to date him....Hm. It is still harassment though.

>Ahem,hem. Marinette's obsessive, compulsive, possessive, territorial, jealous, fanatical, controlling, a LOT of times single minded, stalker behavior concerning her feelings for Adrien.

°Same drill - Not dating (Even if they were, still wrong just adding in)

°Adrien has not at all made his feelings clear on anyone (from Mari's perspective)

°Has not shown romantic interest in her.

°Adrien is not aware of her behavior at all. Not even when he spots all of the pictures of him in her room does he get it. (Being too naive is a very bad thing Adrien.)

°Marinette sometimes acts as if Adrien belongs to HER and no one else can have him. She goes to great, ridiculous and sometimes extreme heights just to keep girls she sees as rivals away from him.

She goes overboard, embarrasses herself, acts immature & compulsive. Sometimes she gets mean.

°Chloe & Lila being horrible is no excuse for her to treat Adrien like a possession, and also like he isn't an intelligent person who cannot notice obvious/strange things or protect himself.

(The plot is confusing yes, Adrien not noticing Mari is Ladybug, giving Chloe multiple chances/still being her friend, Being sympathetic to Lila.

While ALSO in some cases being close to connecting the dots to Mari being Lady, Condemning Chloe's outrageous behavior even in one instance totally putting his foot down, and being one of the only people to see through Lila's lies and side with/protect Marinette....though not exactly how he should.) Chalk it up to not that great writing = serious plotholes.

Anyways

°Adrien can kiss, hang out with, travel with, talk to and date whoever he wants. Mari has NO right to manipulate situations where he can't do that. I.E Controlling behavior.

°Now, Kagami is not a bad person. (More than Half the fandom's treatment of her is very disappointing.) Yes I know, she can be harsh, standoffish and cold sometimes. But-

°She does not intend to be mean, she does not, nor does she want to bully anyone. She does not bully Marinette. She just wants Marinette to stop being indecisive and flighty because Kagami ALSO likes Adrien (and by the way she was raised) does not think people should be so indecisive & hesitant or they'll miss important chances for them to take in life.

°Kagami does not think Mari is right for Adrien no, but as soon as she thinks Adrien is interested in Mari? She immediately backs off & respects his wishes. She only engages again when Adrien shows interest in her again.

°Then later on in the show she even attempts to make friends with Mari genuinely because she wants to make friends.....(and Mari doesn't understand because of Kagami's awkwardness but is also simultaneously clouded by her feelings for Adrien.) Kagami actually feels hurt when she finds out that Marinette initially didn't like her.

Kagami is a GOOD girl.

°Now, what Marinette did to Kagami in Animaestro before that was very unacceptable.

Temporarily teaming up with Chloe to sabotage/publicly humiliate/embarrass Kagami to "not let her get Adrien" "not let her take Adrien away," mess with Adrien's perception of her.

- Jumping to outrageous conclusions out of paranoia, panic and fear. (My cute child needs to be sat down and sternly talked to about this.)

- Trying to manipulate & take away Adrien's choice to decide whether he wants Kagami or not.

(I think this probably marked the episode where Mari's unhealthy/toxic behavior starts to spiral as new episodes come out. (And these ARE out of order so wth is up with Mari's unhealthy escalation lately?)

- Using Tiki for personal, jealous purposes to humiliate Lila in front of Adrien. Acting so irrational and heated in front of 2 civillains(from her perspective) Mari?

- Invading Adrien's home/room, touching everything, lying on his bed....sniffing his things? 😧 Without his consent just to leave a present....when she could have just left it on the window sill, not barge into his room and NOT act very creepy.

- Everything she did & said when she thought that Adrien was one of the wax statues.

In response to a little tidbit in that person's post.) Anyways.

- Being mature while in a relationship is very important. That much is apparent.

In the context of the show for these 2 teens they are in love with one another.

You cannot behave like all of THIS if you wish to maintain a relationship with someone.

This is not grounds for a healthy, safe, respectful relationship.

°Not respecting your friend or spouse, their choices, their boundaries, their space, their being makes you a borderline abusive person.

(Guys c'mon.) If Adrien & Marinette were real people? They would be very creepy, toxic kids. Hell we DO have some very toxic people, even children that act like this in real life. This is a no. All the no.

- Other ships in the show being unhealthy does not in no way invalidate or downplay the fact that Adrien & Marinette's behavior is unhealthy.

- There are many, many, many, many instances of their unhealthy behavior, not "just two." It's insulting that this person treats the fans who point this out as if we are some idiots who do not watch the show and therefore can not call out this obvious lie.

- There being moments where Adrien & Marinette actually behave theirselves for once does not at all erase or invalidate every single one of their toxic moments.

- The show does not do a good job of writing scenes where getting into these characters heads that behaving this way is unacceptable, at all. No character development there.

(Them giving up on persuing eachother at the end of the season does not address the toxic behavior. That is just them being tired of not getting the results that they want from their crushes.)

- It's hard for me to debate as well. Calling the whole ship unhealthy/toxic? In real life, no way josay would this be okay, in the show? Marinette & Adrien at their core ARE good kids. And they DO sometimes realize their mistakes. But it really, truly isn't enough. There is either not much or no consequences to their innapropriate behavior at all.

(You might say Chat Blanc, but that was circumstance because they didn't reveal their identities to each other in full, not consequence for Mari's creepy room invasion, that was separate.)

It's so debatable. These unhealthy behaviors should NOT be encouraged and the Love Square shouldn't be shipped during them.

I'm just gonna say that I hope with all my might that the writers get it into their heads that this is NOT okay to market to children and that they CANNOT expect kids to understand or tell what toxic behavior is or that the innapropriate things Adri & Mari do are okay.

THAT is a large issue above all else here.

Do the twins have a favorite human tradition? 

Cassia likes the tradition of gathering up the entire family to celebrate certain holidays. A close second is giving gifts on holidays, but turians have some holidays and special occasions like that, so it’s not strictly a human thing. I’d say that turians also gather as families, but not usually with everyone, extended family included. For them, that means everyone from the Normandy and their families joins in on the festivities and that’s not too usual for turians. Turians separate work and life, so it’s not often that they get close enough to fellow soldiers, subordinates, or superiors to end up having huge gatherings for holidays. That, and humans have more holidays that call for it than turians. Seriously, we humans celebrate everything, lol.

Being how they were raised, Damocles can’t really say he has experience to compare it to, but from what he’s learned of turian customs, he can say that he really likes how humans tend to embrace changes when compared to turians. Sure, there are still stubborn prejudices and whatnot, but a huge thing is the fact that even with such a powerful military presence, humans don’t actually force their people into mandatory service. We all know turians require at least some time in the military, but humans are like ‘oh, you want to study music? Well, here ya go. Have fun!’ while turian society would rather you serve your people in some way. Sure, Damocles went into a military of sorts with the Wraiths, but he’s happy that it was his decision to do so, not one forced on him and he has an ulterior motive in liking it because he knows that, had they been in turian society, his best friend and love, Aeson, would have had a hard life. He’s not only a traitor’s son, but he just isn’t cut out for combat of any kind despite Damocles’ every attempt to train him. Aeson’s just too passive in nature and Damocles knows with sobering certainty that his friend probably wouldn’t have survived combat if he was ever thrown into it. (Not much of a demand for fishermen in the military, so Aeson would’ve been forced into a position he wouldn’t have been comfortable in)

How often do they see Pop-pop when they’re adults and what’s that relationship like?

Enjoying travel as much as she does, Cassia sees Pop-pop quite often. Usually, if she’s around his neck of the woods, she’ll stop by. Sometimes they can meet on the Citadel or she’ll see him at his home on Palaven, but she’s also really careful not to directly attract attention to herself because of her family’s notoriety so if he says it isn’t safe to visit for whatever reason, she sticks to vidcalls. Their relationship is really close because she tends to follow a more strict code of morals than her brother. Sure, she doesn’t exactly follow rules, but Castis has long since realized that following regulations may not be in that family’s repertoire. Plus, I don’t think Cassia could ever have a bad relationship with someone even if she tried. 

Damocles is different, however. We all know how imposing he looks, and that attracts unwanted attention if he ever goes anywhere. Usually, he only visits Pop-pop when he can manage to hitch a ride on a Wraith transport to Palaven, Palaven being a bit of a safe place for the Vakarians thanks to Primarch Victus’ relation and subtle protection towards them. Damocles gets antsy at Pop-pop’s though, because he can’t do anything that may attract attention. He’s explored the area around Pop-pop’s home to the point he could probably walk it blindfolded and there’s only so many extranet games he can play by himself or with Aeson to keep him occupied in his downtime. He’s also a lot like his father in his rebelliousness and though Castis has cooled some to Garrus and Jane’s ways, they still butt heads at times. Damocles, in these cases, can actually be considered worse than his dad and, unlike Garrus who tries to keep the peace for the most part, Damocles won’t give as easily. Damocles is headstrong and lets emotion rule his thinking in almost every setting, so he’s nearly impossible to effect. It’s because of this that Castis, for once, keeps his stricter morals under check so as not to ruin the few chances he gets to see his grandson. 

What Castis’ take on his kids bonding to humans?

Honestly, after all the family has gone through, he’s just happy his kids are happy. He’s learned to accept that Garrus will always go against the grain in terms of turian culture and traditions because he’s learned the hard way after losing Valeria and going through the Reaper War that there could always be a day where it’ll be too late to reconcile with the idea of their differences. Solana’s relationship is much easier to accept because she and James are much more traditional (and he’s got experience with human family thanks to how different Jane is to everything he expected). Years ago, he would’ve put up a fight about it, but now he’s realized that it doesn’t matter the species so long as his children are happy. Life’s too short for pettiness, he’s come to realize, and family doesn’t always mean blood.

What are Arcellie’s opinion on Saren falling for Cassia?

Arcanus is just so damn relieved someone’s there to show his son the ropes in life, so to speak. He sees what being raised in a tank has done in terms of his son’s ability to fit into society and Cassia seems the perfect person to show him the good in actually interacting with other people outside of work. Saren makes it hard enough to get along with as stunted as he is already, so he needs that exact opposite in Cassia to balance it out and give Saren a real life he will enjoy, even if he doesn’t immediately know it.

Ellie thinks it’s really cute. She adores Cassia because she’s just so damn lovable and mature for her age. Ellie was initially really worried Saren wasn’t getting the concept of dealing with people on a personal level, but didn’t know how to go about getting him to open up. To tell the truth, she was actually worried about interacting with him at first because she remembered her colossal failure in a relationship with Arcanus in the beginning and didn’t want to cause a rift between herself, Arcanus, and Saren. She’s hesitant in relationships because she spent so much of her life in secret, so the fact that Cassia and Saren seemed to click from the very beginning is a huge sigh of relief because she’s eventually admitted to herself that she sees Saren as a kind of step-son, even with as untraditional as his ‘birth’ was. 

Does Saren think of Ellie as his mom?

Good question. I don’t think he’s ever called her ‘mother’ before or put that word to his feelings towards her, but he unintentionally treats her as one. Arcanus is his father in both genetics, but also in guidance and the shared personality they have, but Ellie is different for him. At first, he didn’t have any kind of emotion to associate with her besides an acceptance and a bit of gratitude because of what she was to his father. It didn’t help that Ellie was wary of what she should be for him too, but eventually, he begins to see Ellie as a person separate from his father and she gains confidence that she isn’t going to ‘mess this up’ because she’s so rusty with relationships. Saren now associates guidance of a different kind with Ellie. There’s just some things that a father can’t teach you and, in interacting with Ellie, he’s learned some things that come from having a mother. Sure, most of it is Cassia’s doing, but he’s learned how to love someone from watching his ‘parents.’ He knows how his father is because he technically ‘is’ his father, but he’s learned how to be tender and what devotion looks like from a different person in seeing how Ellie interacts with Arcanus. He actually goes to her at times when he wants to do something nice for Cassia but doesn’t want Cassia to learn of it. Between her and Jane, all his romanticism has pretty much been learned by his ‘mother’ and mother-in-law.

What is Castis’ opinion on humans?

As Primarch, he is wary of humans. Still so young to the whole of Eros and its politics, he thinks they are too demanding of attention and a place in the government (at least, that was before Sovereign) because it was like they came in and wanted a voice without actually proving they could handle the responsibility. We have to remember that their first act was to wage a small war with his people because they wanted to expand and didn’t think of diplomacy when the turians stood their ground, instead of seeing it as an invitation for battle. He still doesn’t trust many humans and sees undeserving arrogance in many dignitaries, but Jon and Garrus’ belief in him has helped Castis see the good in them. It’s why, after Sovereign’s attack, Castis reached out to King Stephan Hackett to propose trade lines between their peoples. He was happy to learn that the King was closer to Jon than Udina in thinking, so it’s helped him to be more open to humans when it comes to meeting individuals instead of a blanket view of them from what he sees of their representatives.

Did Nihlus tell Ashlin ‘I love you’ first?

Actually, he didn’t outright say it in a human way. Ashlin was the first one to put it to words, but he was courting her for a long time in a turian way with gifts and subvocals. They finally got to that point once he realized his attempts didn’t seem to be getting noticed and learned human poetry to impress her and express his feelings in a way she’d enjoy (she likes poetry in this AU). His poem is pretty much a love confession without saying the word, so it led to Ashlin finally putting the word out there in her response. Really, they were kinda idiots about the whole love thing in the beginning, lol

What is something that Jana does casually that Garrus finds incredibly hot?

Before they’re a pair, he has a weird interest in her hair as well as her eyes. He hasn’t seen many people with long hair like waves of fire or eyes that shift with the colors of the earth (her eyes are hazel). Like many fighters with long hair, she tends to keep it up or done so that it’s out of the way, but she’s just like any other woman and has to brush it. When she does, and he sees it, he’s almost entranced with the way it flows. Fire is powerful to Alysim and the image of someone running their fingers and a comb through it is almost unearthly.

Once they’re together, it’s her little touches that drive him absolutely insane. Turians aren’t touchy by nature and she usually wouldn’t be either in public, but she does it a lot as a way of grounding herself in this new reality. She doesn’t want to lose him like she did her husband, so she’s always reminding herself with touch and even kisses and after a life without any sort of partner to speak of, he’s starved for affection without even knowing it at first. Sure, he’s had touches from his family, but never a romantic partner, and once they’re a pair, they are both very touch-oriented in and outside the bedroom. It’s actually kinda cute how surprised he is by just how good being touched, hugged, and kissed feels even without it ever leading to sex.

👽 - Alien Invasion AU

It wasn’t something that the two were expecting to come, but they still had to prepare for the worst. Suzume was one of the greatest shooters inside the current Army, and it was no surprise that she was part of the Elites. She carried the gun with her arms before looking at the rest of the members. “I hope you’re all ready.” It was no surprise that she was famous, she would help anyone if they asked for it… maybe except Shigeo- as if he’d ask anyway.

One of the Elites looked around and saw the crowd cheer, and when the door opened, it was time for war against the aliens. Before Suzume could join in, she spotted a lady who had an injury. Her eyes widened as she saw this, she instantly went to the girl to check on her arm. “Yuriko! Oh gosh, are you okay?!” 

She was concerned over the other female who had a bleeding arm. She knew that the army could handle whatever was coming to them, but to see someone injured, she was unsure if she would be able to continue to be a part of the fight. 

The pink haired girl blew her bangs away before showing a smirk. “I can handle this. this isn’t the worst thing that happened to me. And if the aliens think that a simple arm injury would make me scared- they’re wrong~!” She stopped holding her arm. Yes, it was injured but it wouldn’t stop her. 

“You might be able to move around, but doing this is dangerous! I know what you’re capable of, and I definitely know you’re strong. Elite or not, you still have the power of one.” Suzume knew that she might be able to handle the circumstance, but she ws still worried about the girl.

“You trust me, don’t you?” Yuriko stared at Suzume, with a small smile on her lips and Suzume only nodded. “Then let me fight, I wouldn’t want to be a queen who doesn’t fight together with her army.” 

Suzume began smiling back at her. She was right. She could see the similarities she had with Yuriko, and their passion for fighting and winning was one of them Especially if it were to save people younger than her. “If you say so.” Suzume prepares her gun again before looking out the door. “Let’s do this, Yuriko.”

👮 - Cops/Robbers AU

Yes, Noboru knew that he was one of the well known cops inside the whole police station of Tokyo, but he didn’t know about the other head police officers in the other places of Japan. He was about to meet one of them so that they could discuss the matters of capturing a well-known criminal who was going around Japan. 

He waited inside his office and he stared at the door. He always wondered how the head of Kyoto was like. Was she someone who was mature? Someone who was responsible? He hoped she had at least one of those traits because he had enough of too much nonsense with the other supreme officers.

The door opened to reveal a girl with white hair and purplish eyes. A little fang could be seen on her face and she waved at the male. “Hello, Noboru!” Wait… First name already? she hopped to the male with the biggest grin on her face, and she sat down on the chair that was across him. “So what are we going to discuss, hm~?”

The girl wasn’t someone who he expected at all. She was the head of Kyoto?! She seemed playful and the kind of person who would love to annoy him to death. He tried not to judge quick and he only decided to hand her some papers. “This case. The unsolved one. It’s been three months and no one was able to solve the case yet.”

“Gah! Papers are boring, Noboru! If you want to show papers like this, just show it to Kazuo! He’s much, much, MUCH better than me in this! Just pitch me! Tell me all about the case in one minute!” She placed her arms on the desk before placing her head on it.

Noboru twitched slightly. Yes. She is probably someone like the officers in Tokyo, and he was very disappointed. “Should I really explain this all to you? Word by word? Because if you want every information, one minute will not be enough to solve it. You have to read the files.”

Takara sighed before grabbing the papers and she began to scan through it. “By the way! I’m Takara Tsukasa.” She randomly brings up her name and he only sighed. He wouldn’t be able to deal with this.

But who knew that with her help, they’d be able to solve the case in just a week?

🔮 - Fantasy AU

“Noboru! Noboru!!” A female followed the male around and he only made his horse fun faster. “Hey!” She called out to him and he went too far for her to call out to. She pouted a bit before giving the sack of coins to Ran and Kazuo. “You two, hold these. I’m running after him!” She placed bother of her sleeves up before she ran after the male. “How dare you ignore me!”

Now two of their party members were gone. Kazuo only stared at the empty path in front of them before facing Ran. “Do you think we should chase after them?” He wanted to ask for the opinion of what they should do before he did anything and Ran only had a smile on her lips.

“I think that we could leave them alone for a while.” She simply replies before she looks at the sack of money that the female tossed to them. “I’m surprised she had two of these. She was a thief, right? Did she steal this from Noboru?”

“She probably did. Probably wanted to tease him and that’s why she called out to him but he chose to ignore her.”

After a couple of minutes, Takara was suddenly with Noboru, with his horse resting and Takara squishing both of his cheeks with her hands. “How dare you run away from me using your horse! I only wanted to make a joke!” She puffed her cheeks.

“You’ve been making jokes through the whole trip. I don’t know what to tell you.” He then brings out some points. “First, you made a joke about me being a knight in shining armor because I have a white horse with me.” He gestured to his horse then at himself. “I don’t even wear armor and you annoyed me during the whole trip, calling me “Night Prince Charming on his Trusty Stead”.”

“It’s funny.”

“Yeah, maybe at first but you repeated it the whole trip… Plus, I’m not even a knight. I’m a fighter.”

“Fighter and Knight are the same thing to me.”

“They’re not the same thing!”

“I hope you lost your money while you were speeding with your horse!” Takara placed her hands on her hips and once Noboru checked his pockets, her “fake” pissed off expression changed to a happy one. “You didn’t notice~?”

“Where the hell did you place my reward?”

🔫 - Mafia AU

Today was one of the times where the famiglia had to talk things while sitting on the table. Kei only watched as Kiyoko and Masashi discussed about what they should be doing, but he was getting irritated by each moment Masashi talked. Why would he want everything to go his way? The world does not revolve around him, that was basic common sense!

Kei rolled his eyes before standing up and walking away from the group. He ignored the yells of his eldest brother and before he was grabbed by the shoulder, her closed the door behind him before running away. “Damn it. Why is he always like this?” 

Yes, sure. People might find him rebellious, but it’s understandable. He missed the old atmosphere he had with his brothers, but after they were presented to the whole Yakuza thing… A lot of things changed.

He wouldn’t say it out loud, but he truly missed how he and his brothers used to be close. He missed those times where he actually enjoyed spending time with his brothers. But now? There was too much to take in, and he couldn’t really say he enjoys their presence.

He was able to reach the roof and he held a gun in his arms, he looked around and looked for a possible target he could shoot. He didn’t aim for a person, he wanted to aim for a material object. Maybe a tree or a rock. Before he could do his hot, he heard a familiar voice behind him. It was the Messenger of the famiglia.

“Kei.” She stated his name bluntly and he only placed his hand away from the trigger to face her. “You made Masashi angry.” She didn’t show any emotions on her face but he only sighed before focusing back on his gun. “You should at least listen to everything before you leave the room.”

Moe was older than him, and he should be respecting her… But he couldn’t really see her as someone older than her because of his appearance. He did respect her more than her brothers though. “I know, but I wanted to relax.”

Moe blinked once again before she poked his cheek and this caused him to jump backwards by her sudden reaction. “Be more reasonable next time.”

He didn’t really understand what she meant by that, but she walked away after those words. Kei only raised an eyebrow as the small girl vanished from his sight.

☀ - Mythology AU

It was a normal day inside the place where the gods and goddesses lived. There was a meeting where they had to talk about how their followers are and also the count of blessings they have received in that specific week. After the meeting, the gods and goddesses went back to their areas… Maybe except two of the divine beings who had some matters to discuss.

Nene glared at the male who she faced. “There was something  I didn’t mention in the meeting.” She quickly says and Eizan only stared at her, not caring about what she was going to say. But he always found her pretty interesting, especially when he expression turned cold. 

“And that is?” Eizan asked, a smirk building up on his face. He completely knew what she meant, but he’d love to hear it from her own mouth. Despite how he acted, he really did find the Goddees of Intelligence as a wonderful woman. I mean, who wouldn’t?

She had such wonderful eyes, it was so cold that she could make a mere human shiver. Her voice could literally sound pretty calm even if she threatened someone with death, she lead her followers to the correct path with simple ways. She was truly someone amazing, but he’d never tell her that.

“One of your followers decided to trick mine into their death.” Her voice got colder. “I want to ask if you had anything to do with it.” Her voice sounded a bit pissed, but she was keeping all her cool. Honestly, he had nothing to do with it. He never told his followers to do anything unless they asked him through prayers.

“Do you really see me as an evil man, Goddess of Intelligence?” He brings this question up and she only closed her eyes slowly. He was right, she was smart enough to know the truth, but sometimes the truth inside her head can be a lie so all she wanted to do was to confirm if his had anything to do with it. “I wouldn’t make my followers kill anyone unless they ask me who they must kill.”

“I don’t completely trust you with your words. You are the God of Trickery.” She turns around to walk away from the god, but for a short moment, she looked back to give him a deadly stare. “A fair warning. If you ever aim for my followers or me… You better watch your back.”

“I will, Kinokuni Nene.” 

Eizan was quiet and he only stared at the goddess. A grin appeared on his face. Yes, his feelings for her was right. He admired her so much for her strength and talent, and there were times that he didn’t want the Goddess of Love to notice his feelings for the goddess.

🔪 - Yakuza AU

Chieko didn’t know what to do, but she did think that she should trust the man who was currently protecting her. I mean, did she have another choice? If she disobeyed him, she probably had a bigger chance to have some injures, or may even worse… She didn’t want her family members to worry about her. “Fine, I’ll follow what you say.”

“Excellent. For now, stay there.” Shigeo replies before aiming his gun at a couple of people, with one swift move, he was able to shoot them down. “Follow my pacing and my direction.” He hands her an extra gun that he had and he began walking away. “That’s for emergencies. I hope you know how to use it despite being protected all the time.”

She held the gun with her hands and she followed what he said. “Of course I know how to use this.” She starts talking to him again. “I might be protected my whole life, but it’s bold of you to assume that I’m unable to use this object. Something I’ve seen other yakuza members hold all the time.” 

He didn’t bother looking at her for a long time, but he only took a glance before focusing on the people who were coming. “They were right, Chieko Marui. You really are a unique one.” There was amusement in his voice and she only flushed slightly. 

There were no people who complimented her like this because they were too careful with their words since she had a rich family background and her family had some ties with them. 

“You don’t need to tell me that…” She tried to snap out. She may be flattered at the words he said, but this wasn’t the time to be thinking of someone’s words. 

After a few minutes of shooting and reloading, they finally reached the designated area. 

Shigeo placed his gun in his holster before looking around. “It seems rather safe here, but we should be going back to your place. There will be another car coming here in some minutes.” He lifted up his sleeve to look at his watch. “10 minutes, to be exact.” 

“So, what should we do while waiting?” She asked, a bit curious on what he’d suggest. “Maybe you could finally tell me your identity.”  She was curious about the name of her “savior” since he did not look like someone from the Ibusaki family, nor was he a familiar face. Shigeo only grinned before lifting her chin.

“What? Interested in me already?” 

Her eyes widened and she placed his hand away from her face, her face red from his gesture. “Of course not!” She denied any ideas that was coming in his mind. “I think asking for someone’s name is a completely normal thing to do! I’m no normal girl who’d fall for a man who saved her life.” 

He will never take back his words. this girl was truly unique.

“I only wanted to test you.” He gave an excuse before he decided to think of something else he could tell her. “I’d tell my name when we arrive at your place. Or if you prove to me your worth before the car arrives.” He wanted to see if she would be able to do this task in a span of 5 minutes.

“You’re going to tell me anyway.” She shrugged. “So I don’t see a reason why I should prove anything to you.”

He chuckled and focused on her. “You’re smart and patient. I like that.”

A few minutes passed and Chieko felt something was wrong. She looked around at her environment and observed each area carefully. In a split second, she pushed the man she just met away and shot the gun he gave in case any “emergencies” happen.

Shigeo watched as he saw man fall. She aimed for his leg, making sure she wouldn’t kill him. Not even he got to notice that, and her aim was precise despite the man being far away. “Oh? You really do know how to use it. I didn’t even notice that.” 

He was being completely honest, and his gut feeling was completely right. He confirmed it with the shots she took. 

“Seems like I’ve proven my worth.” She handed him the gun he made her borrow. “Did I?”

God, he knew that despite being with her only for a week, he’d never get tired of her.

“Shigeo Eizan.”

An exciting new review experience in three parts! It’s gonna be a long one!

It was only a matter of time until I addressed this elephant in the room: I’m a little bit obsessed with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before — both the Jenny Han novel and the Netflix original movie. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. To All the Boys is the story of Korean-American, high school junior Lara Jean, whose personal love letters to each of the five boys she’s loved are accidentally sent out, all while she’s dealing with the challenges of her older sister leaving for college (and leaving behind an ex boyfriend that Lara Jean has always had an eye for). In an act of mutual damage control, Lara Jean and her former crush Peter Kavinsky enact probably the best (and definitely my favorite) rom-com cliche of all time: they pretend to be a couple.

I received a copy of the book (the first in a trilogy I haven’t read the rest of yet, NO SPOILERS) as a Christmas gift last year, and I read it back around February or March. Now that the Netflix film has taken Twitter the world quite literally by storm, I figured it was time I launched my thoughts right out into the eye of it. So without further ado, here’s everything I have to say about To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, presented in three parts.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before: The Movie

When I’m out of town for the night, Matt has a ritual where he gets a pizza or some snacks and watches a movie I wouldn’t like with the cat. Last week, on a night when Matt was going to be out late and my cat and I were home alone, I decided to do the exact same thing myself (except now I’m pretty sure that he would actually enjoy this movie too). Actually, there are a lot of reasons why this movie is good for EVERYONE, even us “grown ups.” I was feeling a little down on that particular day, and I needed something lighthearted and a little bit indulgent to get my mind off of it, so I put on To All the Boys, because even though I knew I wanted to watch it, I’d been putting it off, in a way.

While some nights since its premier I just didn’t have the time to sit and watch a whole movie, hype scares me away from things. Not in a hipster sense of “If too many people like it, then it must not be good,” but I fear the bandwagon effect. I don’t want to like it just because other people do and I want to fit in. But I have nothing against liking something popular if I actually connect with it. With this movie, I was actually expecting it to be a little cliche, a little cheesy, and a little silly, but in all actuality, it’s just the best rom-com I’ve seen in a really long time. Seriously.

The casting, the characterization, and the pacing all impressed me in their own ways, but what actually stood out to me about the movie was the cinematography and the storytelling choices. I’m not pretending to know anything about movies, but this could have easily been a movie that focused on the plot to give the people what they want: ROMANCE. While that’s still the main focus, the creative direction of the movie really surprised me with the handling of all the side conflicts circling around the main arc. Visually, it was way more interesting than you’d expect from a rom-com: the shots are interesting, and a little bit conceptual, and all meant to capture Lara Jean’s state of mind, not just what she’s doing or what she looks like.

I also give the movie huge props for something a lot of teen movies weirdly fail at, which is writing dialogue that actually sounds the way teens talk. There was no awkward slang, no overly-rehearsed sounding monologues, and even Kitty sounds appropriately mature for her age without going overboard. Even with it’s modern inclusion of social media, To All the Boys actually nailed it in the dialogue department.

I’ve only got one real bone to pick with the writing overall, and that’s the scene in the first act of the movie that, in my opinion, pretty obviously gives away the twist at the end. I read the book; I knew what happened already. But for someone that didn’t, I think they showed their hand too early. (Notice how I’m speaking in generalities to avoid spoilers). The reveal wasn’t explicitly stated, but I think it was too heavily implied. What Kitty says on the couch is enough. If there was a way that the dramatic irony of us knowing the secret that Lara Jean doesn’t could have enhanced the movie, I would have been all for it, but I don’t think they pulled that off. But this is still a small enough gripe not to ruin the movie for me.

And one more thing: the movie didn’t treat really any character as merely an expendable plot device. Lara Jean is and incredibly well-developed protagonist who I came to love almost immediately (how couldn’t I when she daydreams in regency-era period dress?). But the important thing is that we never stop learning about her; not all the information is dumped into exposition, we have to earn our full understanding piece by piece. While I did feel that Gen was reduced a little bit to the “mean girl” stereotype, we do eventually find out why she acts the way she does, and it’s actually a game changer, if only subtly. (Actually, it’s my opinion that the movie needed more Chris, too.)

This is also part of what makes Peter K. such a great character in his own right, not just as “the love interest.” What’s refreshing about Peter is that he’s a softer form of masculine lead that we don’t see too often, but the kicker is that he’s not afraid to show it from the very start (and to be honest, I didn’t get this as strongly from Book Peter). No “tough guy” layers to dig through—his heart’s pretty much on his sleeve, even though he’s still the cool guy all at the same time. Plus, Noah Centineo is a dreamboat (we were all thinking it). I’m telling you, he’s going to be the Chad Michael Murray of his time.

This is unfair and their outfits match.

While of course there wasn’t time for book-length dives into every character, even Lara Jean herself, the characters were portrayed in a way that encourages the audience to make a connection.

I’m a firm believer that a movie is not a book. Obvious, but what I mean is that a movie doesn’t just have to be a direct retelling of the book in exact detail. In my opinion, if that’s all a movie does, it was unnecessary. I did all that in my head already. What I think makes a great movie adaptation is that it has to have something to say, some interpretation of the characters, plot, and themes, while still capturing the overall idea and spirit of the book from whence it came. I understand the cuts that were made for the sake of real-estate (though I’m hoping a certain deleted kiss surfaces in the sequel I’m praying for). What they did was tailor down the story to make it more self-contained, more refined, and more to the point so that it fit the medium and told they story it needed to tell while really letting us live inside Lara Jean’s head for a while.

But also, how much do you think Subway paid for that product placement?

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before: The Book

You’ll have to excuse my copy of the book, for it has the leftover residue of a “soon to be a major motion picture” sticker that didn’t quite come off all the way. Switching gears, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is just about everything you want in a YA read: a quirky, relatable (and diverse!) main character, a pseudo-love triangle with ~nuance~, and a family secret or two threatening to fracture some relationships when it erupts. I’d known about the book for a few years (thanks, Tumblr), and I made pretty short work of it once I actually had a copy in my hands. The romance arcs made it a page turner in a lot of ways, with the way they criss-crossed and changed shape and came to a heated point.

That being said, I found the book itself a little slow in places in terms of pacing. It’s on the longer end of the YA spectrum, and while I can’t say I ever lost interest, I got a twinge every now and then when I finished a chapter without learning anything new, per se.

My other issue had much ado about Margot, Lara Jean’s older sister, who, despite not being present for the majority of the story, never truly leaves us. I completely understand why Lara Jean thinks of Margot often: she misses her sister, is distressed about keeping the secret, and worries that she’s not ready to fill Margot’s shoes as a caretaker. But in the book, Lara Jean is so preoccupied with Margot that I have to admit that there were moments I was sick of hearing about her.

What I loved most about the books was that Lara Jean’s romance was surrounded by several subplots dealing with friends, family, responsibility, family, and growing up. While a movie only has so much time before it loses us to sleep or boredom, a book can go on, night after night, expanding the main character’s world that we’re lucky enough to be living in. In the book, we get to see a lot more of what Lara Jean’s mom, and her Korean culture, means to her. We also get to see a lot more of how her family has grown from the past until now, and how they’ve all taken on changes before and after Margot’s departure. And maybe the thing I was the most heartbroken about was the letter in Margot’s desk and all the implications it held. Lara Jean wasn’t the only one with a secret, and I love the complexity it added to the sisters’ relationship.

Moving on, I’d be so interested to see what more movies would do with the material we have, because there’s a choice to be made at this point: do they go back and pick up the conflicts they didn’t have time for the first time around, or do they move on to whatever new ideas are hidden inside books 2-3? No matter what happens, sequel or not, the movie has actually really nudged me towards picking up the rest of the series—something I wasn’t totally convinced (Peter Convince-sky? No, but A for effort) I’d do before.

2 Outfits Inspired by Lara Jean Covey

I saved this little bonus section for last, mostly just to amuse myself. It was impossible not to notice how amazing Lara Jean’s style was in the movie; every outfit was a SENSATION and I haven’t stopped thinking about a single one. So, for giggles, I dug around in my closet and came up with the two closest Lara Jean outfits I own.

1. Skirts and Stripes

A tried and true Lara Jean combo, a button front skirt paired with a cute (often striped) top can be found during a few scenes in the movie, but I would say I came closest to the airport outfit. While my color scheme is off, the spirit is there: I even braided my hair as much as possible. Fun fact: I am a cartoon character who owns this shirt in two different colors, and these boots are old enough that I can ~almost~ call them vintage (not really).

2. The Pink Power Suit

All right, it’s not a suit, but the soft pink blazer paired with skinny black jeans and a black choker was almost certainly a confidence move for the first ride in Peter’s Jeep. I don’t wear this pink blazer enough, and I wasn’t sure if I’d love it with this outfit because it’s more of a salmon than a blush (I want to introduce my best friend Squidward to everybody in town wearing a salmon suit).  Actually, this combo worked out surprisingly well, minus the fact that I’m wearing a literal shoe string as a choker.

Actually, I’ve left the house wearing it like that before, and I love it. Fight me.

Lara Jean’s style is the perfect combination of vintage revival and current trends, which is really everything I want to be in my life. I’m already making my list of things I need to add to my own closet: a yellow beret, a lot more bomber jackets, a gorgeous red ballgown. Maybe by the end of autumn, I’ll have the full collection. From now on, every time I go shopping, I’m doing so with the motto: “What would Lara Jean wear?”

Hi there. I read your analysis about The Voltron Show and I really liked it! At one point in that analysis, you mentioned that you feel the Voltron fandom is too quick to feel offended over how Hunk is portrayed in the show. Do you think it's possible that you could elaborate on that, if you wanted? And do you feel that this "overly-sensitive attitude" within the fandom extends to Lance's portrayal in the show as well?

Anyway, a thousand times thank you for reading my meta! To answer your question, and I may receive a lot of heat for this, but I think the Voltron crew have handled Hunk’s portrayal well, actually, and I’ll explain why. Hopefully concisely. Definitely not concisely.

First of all, Hunk is fat. Can we just… admit that? He’s fat. THAT IS OKAY. THAT IS SO OKAY. In fact, I think it’s important for boys who are also overweight to see. They need to know that they can still be the hero, despite their size. I know that a lot of the body positivity schtick has to do with encouraging women to feel comfortable with their bodies regardless of weight, but it’s really important for men, as well! Men probably have a tough time dealing with their body image because they’re expected not to care, but they’re also expected to simultaneously having ridiculously hypermasculine, ripped bodies, or they’re not really ‘a man,’ you know? But if people see Hunk and realize that this guy, yes, is overweight, but still kicks ass and is even the strongest paladin [stronger than Shiro!], that’ll give them just the encouragement they need. [Plus, Hunk is really f*ckin’ hot.]

Second of all, HUNK LIKES FOOD A F*CKING LOT. CAN WE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS?!?!?! Okay, I apologize, I’m getting heated… I just notice that people get extremely angry when Hunk is shown going crazy over food. Like, f*cking me too, Hunk! I don’t know, maybe I’m being insensitive and stupid, but I don’t view Hunk as any less of a character because he’s very food-crazy. Last time I checked, though, no one was up in arms about Po using food to motivate him to become the Dragon Warrior.

I get it, this is just my own opinion. I like to believe that I’m being sensible, though. I’ll admit that, yes, the food jokes get a little old sometimes, but hey, they are still tasteful [dammit… I… I swear I didn’t mean to pun there]. Hunk is always depicted as a master of his craft, educated in the ways of the kitchen. He doesn’t just make junk food, either, he can cook meats; pastas; god forbid, vegetables! Take a look at any other kid’s show, and tell me if you find a fat character who is treated respectfully by their friends like Hunk, is as intelligent as Hunk, and is as three-dimensional as Hunk. Seriously, lemme know, I think I’d give the show a try, if that’s the case.

Okay, now for the second part of your question, I could go on for days about how the fandom basically becomes a volatile gershderned cult when it comes to Lance. The fandom is sensitive about Hunk’s portrayal, no doubt, no doubt- but when it comes to Lance, oh ho, they take it to an entirely new level!

Violent discourse has broken out surrounding Lance’s race, sexuality, mental state, personality, and hell, even his g*ddamn last name! I’m not at all ashamed to say, all of it has been bullsh*t. The f*ckers Lance stans of this fandom will only accept Lance one way, and that seems to be as a 100000% Cuban, 0.00000% American, Not Straight™, mentally unstable, delicately insecure flower that a) must be protected at all costs and b) crying 24/7 unless Keith is there to comfort him. Any time the show contradicts this, it’s the executive producers’ heads.

Voltron Fandom, come close… gather round the fire… I’m about to clear a few things up for you:

One, Lance is a Lady’s Man. YEAH, I SAID IT, AND I WOULD 100% SWOON IF HE USED A PICKUP LINE ON ME, SO FIGHT ME! Heh, but seriously, he likes women. And, you know what? Women like him! Almost every time he flirts with a woman, she shows interest back! …save Allura, but I think we can tell from Lance’s vlog that it’s because he genuinely likes her and doesn’t really know how else to approach her. Does that mean he’s straight? Uh oh… Uh oh… UH OH! IT MIGHT! Well, it might not. He could still be bisexual with a preference for women, which I honestly buy a lot more than him being flamboyantly attracted to both sexes. We can’t assume nothin’ until it’s outright stated, but until then, the fandom needs to be aware that Lance’s actual sexuality is pretty much up in the air.

B, Lance is Cuban. I love this about him, but when people start to throw sh*t when people headcanon him as mixed or possibly born in America or having a Western last name, it kind of ticks me off. Like, what’s wrong with being a little bit white? Does that diminish the value he may have of his Cuban roots? I’m mostly white, but does that make me not give a sh*t about my Chamorro heritage? Of course not! My mom has a Western maiden name, but that doesn’t mean she’s not Chamorro, too! If Lance had a Cuban last name, that’s so great! If he has a Western name, it’s not ‘giving in to the White Man.’ It’s probably just the result of some intermixing with Western people somewhere along his family line, and it could have been generations ago, anyway. About him being Cuban-American… Look, I think Americans can be pretty sh*tty and our country is f*cked up, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. So there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Lance being American-born and proud to be it.

III, stop. Making. Lance. Helpless. Nnkey? I like Langst. I do. But please, administer it in moderation! Write/draw it sensibly! I’m incredibly tired of seeing Lance portrayed by fans as some unstable, immature, dependent crybaby who is unable to control his emotions or stand without the constant support of a Love Interest™ [it’s usually Keith, and as a stalwart Laith shipper, I am sick of this]. I think that, even beginning from the S1-S2 hiatus, the fandom read a bit too deeply into Lance’s impending insecurity arc, and we all got so hyped up to see it, we were disappointed when it wasn’t immediately addressed. I’ve probably said it a thousand times, but once more, with feeling: Lance’s arc will be slow-burn. We’ll get snippets of his insecurities here and there, just breadcrumbs that will lead up to the climax of his arc, and it’ll be awesome. But, the fandom needs to have patience until then. I hold faith upon faith in the creators, especially Joaquim dos Santos [Mr. Lance-Is-My-Favorite-Paladin himself], to deliver a delicately laid story unfolding around Lance that we will all love once complete, and wonder why we were ever upset.

In conclusion, I very much agree that the fandom is WAY too overly sensitive about how Lance is portrayed in-canon, and it’s actually warping their perceptions of reality. They think that they’re the only ones who know what Lance is really like, and that the writers of the actual g*ddamn show are ‘doing it wrong.’ In the show, Lance is friendly, dorky, funny, cocky, emotionally mature, perceptive, and realistic. Fanon Lance is emotionally unstable, dependent, unconfident, incapable, tortured, bullied, and underrated by his teammates. This is not to say that Canon Lance isn’t insecure and somewhat misunderstood by his friends, but he is mature in managing those insecurities and confiding in others [e. g. seeking solace with Keith, believing in Allura]. I just think Lance is a LOT tougher than his stans give him credit for, and I really love that about his arc; he won’t have to be that tough forever, and when he finally lets his barriers down, it is gonna be. Just what the doctor ordered.

some of you may find this a little aggressive, whiny, dramatic, whatever, but i felt it needed to be shared; especially for those who have gone - or are going - through something similar.

i am dog-tired. exhausted. worn out. fatigued from doing the most tedious things like getting out of bed or emptying the dishwasher.

while i’m receptive to the love, support and good-intentions of my Right People, it’s still difficult for me to help them understand what it’s like to exist with a buddy taking up space in my head. they don’t get it as much as they want to or think they do.

sadly, circumstances as they are, i’m living as half of my normal self. i can’t do all of the things i once did because it takes far more effort than, i believe, anyone realizes. Normal Me would be able to make promises and plans and stick to them without having to consider the probability that i won’t be up to it the day-of. part of me, the Normal part that hasn’t quite accepted the dilemmas my situation poses a lot of the time, still wants to do as much as i can to be a Good Friend or an Active Member of Society. right now? that’s simply not possible.

so what people see isn’t exactly what’s going on.

that being said:

i AM NOT wallowing. i AM NOT acting depressed. i AM NOT moody, morose, sulky, moping, brooding, down in the dumps, feeling the blues, or laboring through heaps of self-pity. i may have had MOMENTS, sure, but who the fuck wouldn’t when they’re told their brain is literally being compressed by something the size of their entire right frontal lobe.

not once, in all of this bullshit, have i turned to God and the universe, spread my arms and wailed to the Heavens, “WHY ME!?” because, frankly, i don’t give a damn about the answer. i don’t question whether or not i brought this upon myself, i don’t think i’m a deplorable person who ‘deserves it’ or is ‘being tested’. i’m not looking to blame anyone or anything (including myself) in all of this. honestly, it hasn’t occurred to me to do so. see. here’s what happened when i finally received my diagnosis: while my loved ones waited patiently for me to go through shock or denial or, fuck knows, woe-is-me; to want to curl up and never be happy again, that DIDN’T HAPPEN. i have no idea what people are excepting from me but i can promise i was never in shock. i was never in denial. and i don’t want to curl up anywhere and hide.

so fuck off.

i apologize for being blunt and rude and inconsiderate when what my loved ones are doing is trying to be there for me to the best of their ability. and i understand and respect that, i REALLY-TRULY do, but i’m at my breaking point here. because it’s frustrating for someone else to tell you how you’re acting. no matter how much you love that person ... sometimes you want to inflict violence with a smile.

contrary to what - i guess - folks have thought about my ‘dealing with things’, i’m ... i’m just being fucking smart. i’m listening to myself. i know i’m not depressed because i’ve BEEN DEPRESSED before. i enjoy getting up early, getting out of bed and going through the mundane routines. i find pleasure in choosing my outfit for the day, making lunch. going to buy fucking “monthly lady-diapers” at Pharmaprix.

it’s not much but it’s what i can handle. some may see it as a deterioration of my former self because i’m not going out and doing as much.

no, that’s - just no. when i received my diagnosis it gave me RELIEF because i didn’t have to suffer through trying to pretend everything was okay for the sake of “having a normal day”. now, i can accept that i need to approach my days differently since Lil’ Voldy consumes energy like i consume sparkling water (for those of you who don’t know me ... it’s a lot. i guzzle that stuff straight from the liter bottle ... ).

i carefully plan what i’m going to expend my energy on. at present, i’m having a lot of fun writing. but, since STARING at the Goddamn COFFEE MACHINE takes it out of me sometimes, i need to do it in short spurts: i hack something out then take a break to talk to my lovely Tumblr peeps or read fanfiction or have a hot bath. once i’m feeling a little less dead-to-the-world, i grab my laptop and start again.

think of it like saving battery. when you’re running low and don’t have a charger, you turn off your phone until you need it. so, ‘turning it off’ would be the equivalent of dozing or watching tv. cool? cool. if i know i’m going to need to go down the Dep, i make sure to save ‘Two Bars’. if i know i’m going to call someone, i’ll save ‘Three Bars’. in between these activities, i’m resting because I HAVE TO.

additionally, i get antsy being so far from home. it’s THE ONLY place i feel i don’t have to be “ON”; it’s also where my outlets are and, if the mood strikes, i’m close to what i need. since my energy-reserves deplete faster than the average bear’s and i’m a creative person, i like to take advantage of the bouts of motivation when they come. the idea of not being able to do things on my terms stirs up some pretty awe-inspiring panic-attacks. yes, i’ve become VERY antisocial but, honestly? I DON’T GIVE A FUCK. if this is antisocial, i’m deeply satisfied with it. plus, i know it’s temporary.

patience, friends, is what i need.

so for someone to make the assumption that i’m WALLOWING? yeah. no. for someone to tell me, “this happens to me too” when i’m referencing my symptoms? yeah. nope. unless you have a Lil’ Lord Voldy of your own, it DOES NOT happen to you.

i know my body. i know my mind. trust me to know these things about myself and to act accordingly. what might look like wallowing to some people (perhaps they expect it and that’s why they’re so adamant that it’s happening), ISN’T.

listen to me when i tell you that i know what i need and am doing what’s best for ME. everyone’s support is AMAZING but, the fact of the matter is: i’m the one going through this. Lil’ Voldy is in MY HEAD, not yours, so don’t tell me what i’m feeling or doing is counterproductive. on the contrary, it’s keeping me in a good mood.

please, remember the massive and deliberate effort it takes for me to go anywhere which isn’t my bedroom. even if it’s just a two-hour drop-in. that, for me, is exactly the same as a three-day party bender.

i implore you, don’t push me. just this morning i had a meltdown because i’d made a promise Normal Me would be able to follow through with (and then some) but Lil’ Voldy inhibits Present Me from keeping.

this doesn’t mean i will shirk my responsibility; i don’t exactly know what i’m going to do yet but i’ll figure it out and hope that my honesty will be received (well or not). because i CANNOT be anywhere but within the walls of my Comfort Zone without wanting to sob. being anywhere outside of my Comfort Zone saps my energy regardless of whether or not all i’m doing is SITTING.
