Idk i have any specific order for this - so consider it "top 5 general". Also theyre all Australia, bc as much as theres places i think would be cool to visit overseas, i think theres a lot of places in Australia that are super underrated, and I want to visit them first. (Also I've literally never left the country, so...)

Want to: The Kimberley

I've been to WA, but only to the bottom part, and I'd love to see more of it. Plus, my parents have photos from like the 90s and some of the places they went were GORGEOUS and I'd love to visit some day.

2. Been to: Narriearra Caryapundy Swamp National Park

VERY cool place. May hold the record for the prettiest sunrises I've seen in the last little while. I'm sad i didnt get to explore more around the wider area. Worlds cutest budgies (and insanely sized flocks of them at that). 10/10 would go again.

3. Want to: Tasmania (general)

I've been to Tasmania exactly once (it made me technically have been to every state) but it was for a university trip, and we only got three exploration days. So I've been to Port Arthur, Maria Island, and Hobart. All very cool, but I'd love to see more of it, especially the western side. Also to revisit a bakery that i got literally the best vanilla slice i've ever tasted from.

4. Been to: The (various) Keppel Islands

Theyre just SO pretty. Theyre also the traditional lands of the Woppaburra people and have some VERY cool archaeology and culture (including carved shell fish hooks). Also somewhere i saw a dugong once, so bonus points for that. (Still mad they keep trying to redevelop Great Keppel Island. pls. it doesnt need a resort).

5. Want to: Norfolk Island

TECHNICALLY part of Australia, but also like... a long trip. I feel like I might like to visit Norfolk Island at least once in my life. Especially after having had to do research on it for an archaeology assessment once. Its kinda fascinating

how is your day going?: good. comfy. i woke up in a very cute mood! although, it's another slow one, i've been feeling very time warpy and floaty lately.

what age do you feel in your brain?: definitely not like i should be in my 30s lol it's funny, i was talking about this the other day. about how covid hit when i was 29 and i don't feel like i've aged in the meantime. but at the same time i feel decades older.

do you feel like the good times are behind you or ahead of you?: hmm i think this is one of those "it can be both" type of things. lots of good behind me, lots of good ahead of me (i fucking hope!)

do you have a best friend?: yessirrr

did you have a childhood pet?: yea! i had two little budgies. one green, one blue. we also had a little kitty.

do you sing or whistle around the house?: oh my god, yes... i don't whistle. but, look, i think there's a song always bouncing around up there and i just gotta at least hum it sometimes. and if music is playing and i know the lyrics, i'm singing.

do you light candles or incense?: i do! i love candles very much. a big plus if they've got those wood crackling wicks!

are you busy Friday night?: nope. i'm busy saturday night though!

if you were a circus performer which act would you be in?: uuhhh me perform? n-no... i shan't. but i do like that aerial silky thingy!

what is your favourite outfit?: this depends on the day! but usually it's a colorful top, ripped blue jeans, combat boots, and a leather jacket. hoops, buncha rings, and watch. some eyeshadow that'll make my eyes pop and a berry colored lip.

what's the last thing you created?: completed? my wedding boys. wip? i keep reworking a sketch for the gift exchange.

what is your favourite fic or book of all time?: my god i don't know! all time is a lot of time and i suddenly forgot everything i've ever fucking read!

what are you looking forward to?: some time off work in two weeks! seeing my friend on saturday! feeling the sun on my face!

what can put you immediately in a better mood?: a little quiet time. perhaps a nap. being silly with people that i trust.

and bc tallulah is so big, I wanted chay to be small as a funny size comparison. I toyed with the idea of some kind of bird but couldn’t find one I was dead set on so I looked at small cats and dogs. I like the idea of a fluffy orange and white tabby or even a Maine coon but I’m not sure if it would fit his personality. I don’t see Phil owning a dog either but that’s why I like tallulah being one…

omg, when my budgie first came home she was also obsessed with trying to chew up her dry poops. i worried for SO LONG that she had some sort of nutritional deficiency that was making her eat her poops, but it turned out that it was just a weird enrichment activity, plus helped her keep things tidy. (she came from a mildly neglectful home, so i guess she was doing the chores her people weren't!) she does it a lot less now, but still not zero, and i'm always like GIRL... WHY.

anyways, it's good to know that she's not the only freak that does this. much love to Toto from a fellow poop muncher 😂

My canary was the same way! Some birds are just very picky about their cleanliness!

The only annoying part about it is that Toto takes what would be an easy to pick off poop from somewhere and crumbles the dust all over the next available surface for it to embed itself in to 😂

okay, so, I'm seriously considering getting a cat now (or probably two since they'd be indoor only so that seems better), and I need to talk about that to figure out if it's a good idea.

there's a few things that are making me hesitant about doing this.

we live in an attic apartment, and that worries me. half of our windows open onto the roof. we put fly screens on them (they have a zipper so you can open the window), but those are super flimsy and probably wouldn't stop a cat that really wants to get out. the normal windows also have fly screens, but again those are flimsy.

I once had my dog jump out of an attic window, I think that's why this scares me so much. of course a dog and a cat are very different, and if a cat got onto the roof it would likely be fine (but it might run away, which wouldn't be good).

ideally I'd just make sure the windows are never open when the cats are in the room, but that definitely wouldn't work since it gets very, very hot in summer. that also worries me - we have a few fans and it's alright for us, but I don't know how a cat would handle that with nowhere to go to cool down (I've had cats my whole life but that was always in houses where they could go to a cooler area).

I might also be allergic to cats. I've had three allergy tests, one of those said I'm allergic to cats (and a bunch of other animals), the other two didn't. I can't really tell because cats definitely make my skin a little itchy, but all the people I know who have cats have very dusty homes, and I'm very allergic to dust. so it could just be that. and like I said, I lived with (many) cats for the first 25 years of my life, and it was fine. I was sneezing and all of that all the time, but I'm 99% sure that was mainly my dust allergy (which is pretty well managed at this point). and I'd be alright with sneezing a bit more and having my skin be a little itchy, that wouldn't be a problem.

my partner also really loves cats, but he's never had one. he only ever had one pet, a budgie, and he was pretty young so he didn't have to do much to care for it. so he doesn't really know how much work pets can be and I think he might underestimate that. and he'd likely have to clean the litter boxes etc. because I have.. issues with dirt and stuff like that. I don't think he'd mind, but I'd have to explain that it's not something you just do once a week.

weirdly, I'm kind of most worried about the vet. I've never been to a vet, no idea why but I just never went there with either of my parents. so I dont know how that works, and I'm scared of social situations so that's a bit of a problem. though - my mother knows her vet really well, and I'm sure she'd go with me the first few times and I could figure it out from there.

cost is also a bit of a worry. we're doing alright financially, but we don't really have savings. we could definitely pay for vet bills or anything like that, and I think I'd look into getting health insurance for the cats too (I haven't researched if it's worth it, but I think it would make me feel a bit calmer about that aspect).

I also worry our apartment might be too small for a cat (or especially two). it's not tiny, we have a big living room and the bedroom isn't small either, plus the kitchen and bathroom. so they could get away from each other since there's not just one room. but I don't want to get a cat just because I want one and have it be miserable, that's selfish. I don't know how long we'll live here, probably not more than a few years, but I wouldn't want a cat to be unhappy even for a short time.

I've also never had a cat that wasn't allowed to go outside (ours definitely wouldn't ever be allowed to go outside, even when we eventually move). so I have absolutely no idea what that's like. all our cats ran around outside so they mostly slept when they were home. I assume you'd have to have a cat tree and maybe play with them more actively or something, which would be fine if course. as long as there's enough room for them to do that.

I'd also have to convince our landlord, but I think I could do that. she was mostly worried about us having a cat because one of her previous tenants had a cat that was left alone all day and it scratched the walls around the windows and stuff like that. but I'm home all the time anyway, and that definitely won't change in at least the next 12 months, plus.. the walls are already scratched now anyway lol.

mostly, I think it would just be really good for me to not be completely alone so much during the week. maybe having pets that I need to feed and play with would give me some structure and like, a sense of purpose or something.

the dirt and pet hair aspect also worries me a bit. though, I'm much better with that now (I can touch trash cans again, yay...). and I once had a kitten that peed in my bed every single day for a week, and I didn't mind that because I loved her so much. so I think I'd be fine. and I think the cat hair was only a problem because my mother's house was very dirty and smelly in general, so it was too much for me. on its own I think I'd be okay with it.

we don't go on holiday much, and if we did my brother and his family live really close by so they could feed the cats. in the worst case my mother could probably take them for a while at least (like if I have to go to hospital again or something). so I think that would also be fine.

I don't know 😭 I really, realllly miss having cats but I don't want to risk having it not work out and having to give them back or something like that. but I just really want to have a cat 😭😭😭 every day I think at least once 'this moment would be much better if there was a cat here'.

The other one is a short soft green sweater with the ice giant planets and under them it writes "I need more space." Which is both literal and figurative for me.

It's a simple pencil doodle of Matt Smith's profile. I was watching Doctor Who and at one point I realized I wasn't even watching the show because his profile was mesmerizing me. Partying with The World Cup folks. I'm a huge football fan and I love international environments. The World Cup is the ultimate culture soup anyone can be in, plus there is football. I'd love to be there with the fans, watching the games live in stadiums. It's my biggest dream ever since I was a little kid.

This feels kind of random, but I strongly headcannon that he'd have horses????

There's just something about the idea of Adler doing some of that good old "honest work" back home that feels right

His day job is just so messed up and crazy in general, so it feels good to come home to a completely different life

Besides, horses require a strong but gentle hand to train and care for and I'd say that's right up his alley

Not to mention horses are quite therapeutic, especially when you're out for a ride

He takes rides often, just to truly escape for a little while

This works out fine though, considering dogs scare his horses

Bell definitely owns something exotic

It was sort of an accident, as she was just trying to play with them, but it's pretty cool nonetheless

She loves to sing to them too and it's extra special when they twitter along back

Helen is allergic to rabbits

This is an absolute tragedy to her, considering she'd 1000% own at least two if she wasn't

Sims also owns a dog, but his is far more scrappy looking then Mason's

It's some sort of mutt, maybe a pitt bull mix

But she is the sweetest thing

He rescued her from a junkyard while he was out salvaging supplies for the team and they've been inseparable since

Due to her previous abandonment, she gets depressed quickly when she's alone, so Sims brings her to the bunker often

Despite her rather intimidating appearance, she has a cute name: Dolly

Plus, she's even learned how to fetch certain tools for him, so despite Adler and Hudson's protests, there's really no reason for her to not stay

He is allergic to cats

It's ok though, considering Dolly gets nervous around them

physically:

im a genderfluid pansexual that presents feminine. im about 5'3-5'4 and im on the chubbier side, which makes me a bit insecure. im very pale and covered in freckles. i have dark brown eyes and my hair is short and bleached to a light orange color, but im thinking of growing it out to about shoulder length and going my natural hair color (a dark brown.) my skin is pretty smooth except my hands because they're covered in bite marks from my two rats bruno and josé. i have prominent eye bags due to a lack of sleep and a small scar along my lips from my (late, he passed away a couple of days ago), budgie. i have horrid posture, scoliosis and asthma.

personality:

at first glance i can seem pretty calm and i don't really speak to anyone besides my friends and close family. when you get to know me, im very sarcastic and witty. im a good listener but i only let my closest friends vent to me. im a lot more sensitive than i let on but im quick to mask how im feeling. im interested in literature, astronomy, crystals, tarot, angel numbers, painting, violin, piano, flute, dancing, harry potter, manga, encanto, sketching, writing and ancient history. i mostly draw tattoos and im planning to get coco (the budgie i mentioned earlier) tattooed on my upper back, bruno tattooed on my left writst and josé tattooed on my right wrist when im eighteen.

-my brother was a volleyball coach and the reason i got into haikyu!!

It sucks that I’m part of the problem with exotic pet ownership. It’s so selfish of me, but I love having parrots in my life. Kokomo was my life, and Daiquiri is my sunshine. At least I do my part by occasionally fostering abandoned birds, so that kind of negates some of the harm, I guess.

I’ve got a lovely foster right now who was found on someone’s porch. We’re trying to find his original owners right now, but honestly, since he’s a budgie, I doubt we’ll ever find his owners. People SUCK when it comes to budgies. I’ve had two other foster budgies that we never found their families. People just set their budgies free when the novelty wears off, and I don’t understand how someone could DO that.

Like, I had 5 wonderful years with Kokomo (my little yellow budgie) before he passed after a stroke, and I feel like I was ROBBED of time with him. Budgies can live 10+ years! And he was stolen from me far before then by a stupid stroke! Even after the newness of owning him wore off, I NEVER got tired of him. I loved his songs, his playful nature, his beautiful personality, his friendship… I still miss him horribly! I NEVER wanted to part with him!! And to think that people have incredible birds just like him that they just throw away when they’re done with them!! How do you DO that?! How do you look into those bright little eyes, that adorable fluffy face, and just chuck them outside to die?!

It’s really hard not getting attached to Ozzie, my foster. (That’s just the name I’ve given him; I don’t know his real name.) My dad has REALLY fallen in love with him, I think. He’s enjoying having a work buddy, and I can’t blame him. The sweet little budgie songs and his chipper personality are too much!! How do you NOT fall in love with him?

But I’m sure I’ll be able to adopt him out if I find the right person. I’ve done it twice before, with Ringo and Karma, my other two fosters. The only one I foster failed was Sprite because she used to belong to a friend of the family and I didn’t really trust anyone else to take care of her since she’d been so terribly neglected, plus I’d known and loved her for years.

Sprite was such a sad case; she’d been part of the furniture for 6 years, sitting in a cage full of broken toys with her cage mate Lily, who I was too late to rescue. I had Sprite for two years before we had to put her down as a result of heart failure that the vet didn’t catch in time to treat. I feel good, though, knowing that I gave her the best two years of her life with me and Kokomo. She had so many new experiences! She learned to be a member of the family! She learned to hang out with humans! She had showers! She had her first veggies! She was so very loved! And I saved her from dying alone and unloved in a miserable environment! I did that!

Idk I’m just rambling at this point but TL;DR even though it sucks that I’m part of the exotic pet problem, I’m glad I’m able to at least do my part with fostering in order to ensure these beautiful babies are treated with the love they deserve.

heyyy i’m here to be matched up! romantic match with the arcana please! i’m bi and i use they/them pronouns. i have short brown hair, big blue green eyes, a gap between my front teeth, and thick thighs that are always covered in bug bites and bruises. speaking of which, all of my passions are pretty physically exhausting! i love doing things outdoors, whether it’s hiking, kayaking, swimming, playing with my chickens, or foraging. if i could get out on the trail every single day, i would. i’m a bug magnet though, so you need not wear bug spray while hiking with me because i’ll take care of them. i’m also an opera singer, which requires a great amount of physical strength ironically because of how you use your air. i sing soprano, and i’m generally type cast in pants roles. my favorite opera is probably the magic flute, which is basic but it was my first professional opera and i love papagena and papageno! on the topic of birds, i have a deep love for all animals (i’m vegetarian), but birds especially hold a special place in my heart. my favorite categories of bird include parrots, crows, and chickens. i am a parent to two budgies of my own and am fascinating by their social structures. circling back to music for a sec, my favorite genre of music is women’s folk (the indigo girls, dar williams, brandi carlile, ect), but you couldn’t stop me from belting some taylor swift or dolly parton if you tried! i love reading and writing, and i actually work at a library. my favorite genres of books are psychological thriller, horror, coming of age, and dystopian. my audiobook collection is really impressive! i’ve always loved kids, and i’ve known i want to be a kindergarten teacher since i could talk. i love the idea of teaching a new generation how to engage with the world and be curious. above all else though, i’m an extremely empathetic person who wants to settle down and have a family, whether with children, animals, or both.

- Past - Are you happy with your upbringing? Yes, I had a really great childhood.

Who was your first best friend? A neighbor kid named Broghan.

Who was your first love? My husband.

Did you ever attend any school dances? Just one. The homecoming dance during my sophomore year. I didn't find it to be a particularly enjoyable event, and never bothered going to another dance after that.

Did you play any sports growing up? Yep, I played softball, soccer, skiing, and English hunter/jumper horseback riding.

Did you have a special blanket when you were younger? Not that I can remember.

What movie reminds you of your childhood? The Lion King.

Were you a picky eater as a child? I don't think I was.

What's your favorite memory with a family member? Going peach picking with my Granny and Granddad at the orchard across the street from their former house, and baking peach pies together. Trips to my family's vacation house on the island. My dad teaching me how to play checkers.

Did you ever have to share a bedroom? No.

Are there any smells that remind you of the past? The first smell that comes to mind is that of vanilla extract. It reminds me of helping my mom bake cookies. Also the smell of pine trees, because my parents and brother and I would always have a family outing to a Christmas tree farm every winter, to choose and cut down our own Christmas tree.

Did you play outside or inside as a child? I probably spent more time playing outside than inside. My childhood home had a large yard that backed up to woods that I loved to go exploring in.

On average, how much time a day do you spend on your appearance? It varies. Usually just 5-ish minutes, but occasionally up to 10 minutes if I'm putting on any makeup, and sometimes up to an hour if I'm washing/drying/straightening my hair.

Do you have any children? Nope, I don't want any.

Are you subscribed to any streaming services? Yes, Netflix and PBS.

What time do you usually go to sleep and wake up? I go to sleep anywhere from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m., and I wake up between 10 a.m. and noon.

- Future - Do you have any long term goals? My longest term goal is for my husband and I to retire early, around age 50.

Do you want children? (or more if you already have any) Nope.

Where would you like to be in your career five years from now? Still doing what I do now.

Do you think you'll ever move from the city you're in? We're planning on moving soon. If my husband gets awarded the airport transfer he bid for, then we might be moving as early as 7-8 weeks from now. But it could also be 6 months from now. Not sure yet.

How do you hope your life will look in 10 years? Living in Ohio again, in our dream house. And still traveling and doing hobbies and living a fulfilling and relaxing life.

Do you think you're heading in that direction? Definitely. We're moving back to Ohio soon and buying a house (after renting for a while while we house-hunt). Other than that, I'm very content with life and I hope that continues.

The Pillars with pets; Modern AU headcanons

(Part 1!) Rengoku: -found a tiny, sopping wet, absolutely filthy kitten lying half-dead in an alleyway -“I shall take you home, save your life, feed you, clean you, name you Lion, adopt you and be friends with you for life” -“in that order” -frankly he never did plan to get a cat -he always wanted a pet, of course, but he used to see himself as more of a dog person -h o w e v e r, that kitten needed him. And Rengoku does not forsake victims of injustice!!!! -so yes. He takes it home. -he saves its life. -he names it Lion, adopts it, -and they become the best of friends. -Lion grows from a scrawny little baby kitten into the hugest, fluffiest ginger cat anybody has ever seen -Rengoku’s couch is perpetually covered with cat hair and he is so proud -(Sanemi comes over once, wearing white pants, sits down, stands up, stares at his pants and screams) -(Rengoku: she’s shedding! Isn’t it magnificent? Sanemi: son of a bitch my ass is oRANGE) -Lion becomes so huge that even Rengoku struggles a little to carry her around once she reaches full size, and he sometimes does reflect fondly on when his pet was small enough to actually hold, but luckily, Lion is also an incredibly lazy, incredibly easy-going cat -she also cannot ever be convinced not to sleep in Rengoku’s bed -eventually, she has kittens and Rengoku’s house becomes absolutely overrun with feral, fuzzy little creatures -he adores them all!! So much!!! (lowkey would name them after Lion King characters lol) -makes sure to send them all off to homes that he 10000% trusts, except for one that he keeps for himself -Lion the matriarch lives to be 20 years old and is forever remembered as a proud member of the Rengoku family Muichirou: -Himejima: I got you some birds -Muichirou: Birds are stupid -Muichirou: -Muichirou: Anyway, where are my birds -the birds are a pair of blue budgies -at first, it’s impossible to tell how Muichirou feels about them -(but he really loves them tbh) -one is Sora and the other is Yuki -Muichirou keeps them in a big cage in his room -and can often be seen just…sitting on a little stool in front of the cage. Staring at his pets. He can watch them for hours -is not initially sure how to go about befriending them -he’s kind of scared to tbh, but with some encouragement from Himejima and the information that they’re technically already hand-tamed, he starts making their acquaintance -Sora is sweet and immediately warms up to him. Yuki is a brat and can’t express herself through any action but biting -(Muichirou stares blankly at his bitten finger for a few seconds before deciding that he actually doesn’t care) -he continues to act like he has 0 feelings about them but tbh, once they start sitting on his shoulder and come up to snuggle against him -he goes Soft -never has them in their cage after that, except for bedtime/times when he can’t supervise them -lowkey shows them off to friends when they come over -(Tanjiro gushes over how sweet they are and Muichiro just. melts. He loves Tanjiro 12398x more than before, if that was even possible) -does *not* trust Inosuke or Zenitsu with his birds -saw some vids on youtube of talking budgies and was like “hmmm” -spent about a week trying to teach Yuki and Sora to talk before giving up -(because he decided he didn’t actually care that much lol) -(his pets are perfect. They don’t need to learn any extra tricks.) -sometimes gets a little sad because watching Yuki and Sora snuggle together kind of reminds him of himself and Yuichirou Shinobu: -no pets! Said Shinobu, smilingly, because pets make a mess -“and I don’t have the time to take care of a dog or a cat or a guinea pig” -then Shinobu realized that tarantulas exist. -her tarantula is a large, fuzzy specimen named -Coco. -Coco is a bit shy -her tank is kept in impeccable condition on Shinobu’s desk -the crickets for her food are carefully stored where nobody but Shinobu should be able to find them -(this happened after that one time Kanao brought friends home)-(and a certain somebody spilled the crickets)  -(Shinobu was out for blood that day….right after she finished de-cricketing her house)  -Shinobu doesn’t really handle Coco much because she doesn’t want to accidentally damage her  -plus, it’s nicer to just watch her crawl around  -during down time, when she doesn’t have work to do and can finally relax, she likes to just sit next to the tank and read a book or listen to some music  -when she has particularly unwelcome visitors, she…tends to feed them horror stories about tarantulas with an angelic smile  -before introducing them to Coco -she takes some sadistic pleasure in watching them squirm  -also will not stand for anybody insulting Coco. You talk smack about the spider, you’re banished from her house forever  -the only person in the friend group not afraid of Coco is probably Mitsuri, who thinks she’s the cutest, fuzziest spider she’s ever seen  -Shinobu loves her for that -Sanemi took one look at Coco and reacted with “wtf is that”; he’s since lost any respect Shinobu might’ve had for him -idk ultimately Shinobu feels like Coco is her soulmate; she’s beautiful, not particularly fussy, not clingy at all, but is still there, waiting in her tank when Shinobu comes home at the end of a long day  -and it’s just really nice to have a friend around, y’know Giyuu: -owns a turtle. -he never intended to own a turtle -he never intended to own anything -he bought it from some shady dude trying to sell it from a tiny dirty bucket on the side of the road because Animal Abuse -and was planning to give it to somebody -Giyuu: Hi so I have this turtle- -Everybody else in the squad: bye -he also doesn’t know anybody outside of the squad so…for the moment, the turtle is his -borrows literally every book on turtles ever from the local library -the next day he wakes up looking like a panda, with 30 minutes of sleep under his belt and more knowledge on turtles than any non-professional could hope to have -Giyuu @ turtle: I will not name you because that would mean that I have some intention of keeping you, and I have no intention of keeping you. None. -Giyuu, two hours later: Your name is Haru, you are babie, and I will kill anybody who tries to take you from me -Haru is a smol babie turtle and Giyuu has no restraint when it comes to purchasing his child’s things -huge tank, rocks, heating lamps, food -he goes above and beyond in providing proper conditions for his pet tbh. All the reading paid off -he is incredibly paranoid and has an endless list of every single reptile vet within a few hour’s drive of his house -(because what if Vet no.1 takes a day off so he goes to see Vet no.2 but Vet no.2’s heavily pregnant and her kid is due that day so he heads to Vet no.3 but Vet no.3 is on vacation in the Philippines-) -is That Person who responds to “you need to get out more” with “I have Haru” -people who hear him talk about Haru end up assuming that Haru is a human child and possibly his son -worries that Haru will be lonely and asks google if turtles need friends -Haru grows to be not-so-little in a few years but tbh? He’s still Giyuu’s baby.
