Cutie Reviews: TokyoTreat Oct 19

I think I’m doing pretty good progress wise, please be patient with me as I continue to try to review old boxes~

“October is here, bringing with it those spooky Halloween vibes! Halloween has been growing in popularity in recent years, and since Japan loves their seasonal snacks we had plenty of new, interesting items to choose from! In the spirit of being spooky but kinda cute, we’ve created a Poke-Monster Night for you to enjoy! No sharing these tricky snacks though!“

For this months contest, the winner could receive figures of Naruto and Sasuke from Naruto, while runner-ups won a cute pokeball candy and stamp. Lucky Treat consisted of Full Metal Alchemist, Dragon Quest, AND three devil fruits from One Piece, the Gomu Gomu (Gum), Mera Mera (Flame), and Ope Ope (Operation. Also, they accidentally mislabeled as the “dark dark fruit”). I was very excited that they included the 3 belonging to 3 of my favorite characters~

Pokemon Ramune & Strange Syrup DIY

For this month, we get a basic, straight-laced ramune drink. Thank goodness :P as much as I like to try new flavors, sometimes I forget the original is probably the best... especially in comparison to those yucky flavors that I’m still traumatized by <_< and this month we even get a really cute pokemon label.

Ramune is basically that “soda“ flavor you’ll see in Japanese candy. It has a sweet, sort of lemon-ish taste but its not sour. It’s a little like sprite, but in my opinion it tastes way better. It’s especially yummy whenever it’s warm out or if you worked up a thirst. It’s also really fun to open because of the marble inside!

If you have ever wanted to try out Ramune, I would suggest checking on Amazon (they have a variety of fruit flavors too), or maybe the Japan Haul website (the website made through Tokyo Treat and its various brands).

The DIY I just included a bonus pic of because I’ve done it several times. It’s a super-sticky, thick syrup like candy that only requires you to mix the 3 flavors, which are strawberry, soda, and lemon. Together they make grape... which looks like this:

Because this candy was a little old, I think it was a bit off. The lemon and soda flavors were fine, but I noticed that not only was strawberry orange instead of pink, which might explain this... greenish-honey color. It’s usually a little purple if I recall.

Also, it didn’t really taste like grape this time, and it wasn’t as good in my opinion- but I guarantee if you open it as soon as you get it, it tastes much better. If you don’t like sticky/gooey textures you might wanna skip this one though.

Halloween Milk Senbei & Bloody Cola Marshmallow

Since I subscribed like 3 years ago, I’ve only seen senbei in a box once; I was very excited to see it again! It’s stuff like this I wish they would include more of, because I want to try the unique foreign flavors you know?

Anyway, the milk senbei is a plain, very thin melt-in-your mouth cracker-like snack that pretty much tastes like ice cream cone, but a teensy bit sweeter. This one comes with a cola flavored sauce to put on top of it. Each 1 (or one pack, not sure) is around 25-27 calories.

I really like the taste of ice cream cones, I don’t know why, I just always have. Meanwhile, the jelly/sauce is purple, but it indeed tastes like cola ♥ it’s very yummy. However... together, they get a strange taste and that I’m not very fond of. I can’t even describe it, but its weird. But eating it in small doses is tolerable.

Speaking of cola, we also got a really cute marshmallow filled with a cola jelly! It’s like they combined two of my favorite things~

It’s very soft and yummy, the jelly inside tastes about the same as the sauce from the prior item, but it tastes so much better with the marshmallow.

Apple Pie Kit Kat & Brown Sugar Sweets

Instead of orange kit kats this year, we get to see fun purple one :D these kit kats are inspired by an apple pie. As you can see they also come in a large pack to share with others or to eat yourself. Each pack is 65 calories.

I love the coloring of these, first of all. It’s such a pretty purple, and its fun too. The apple flavor is very prominent, and it has a very small hint of spice, while the wafer brings to mind a sugary crust. It’s sweet, but mildly.

These are popular for their melty and soft texture, with a very thin, crisp layer of rich brown sugar coating. Each one of these is 17 calories.

These are kinda basic, but it’s a yummy sweet that isn’t overly sugary. I think it goes good with the apple pie kit kat, and maybe some milk.

Disappearing Taste?! Mixed Gummies, ZomB Grape Gum, & Blue Green Soda Gum

We got 3 gums this month! Our first is very familiar, because we’ve had this gum before. The only difference is this is its washed out, slightly different cousin. Basically, you’re given a set of flavors of gum, in this case yogurt, strawberry, orange, and white grape/muscat. You can eat them as is, or mix the flavors to make new ones, like a fruit drink, melon soda, or different fruits.

What makes this one special however, is that there is a special gumball that supposedly makes the flavor disappear? I mean, isn’t that what gum does normally?

This gum is really nice, you get a lot of them per-resealable pouch, and the flavors are always pretty good. Plus I like how the gum is smooth and soft in texture. I didn’t really notice any difference with this one from the last pack I had other than flavors.

Next up, we have the ZomB Gum; a popular Halloween item that we have seen before; I think about 2 or so years back, when we got the red cola vampire version. What makes this gum really fun is that it colors your tongue as you chew it, and it has a delicious grape flavor.

This gum has the same texture as the other gum, so I really like it. The color effect isn’t nearly as strong as the package shows, but it’s a cute little gimmick, and it tastes great. The flavor lasts about 5 minutes.

Our last gum is another brand I’ve had before. I have had both this flavor, and their cola version. It’s pretty much the same concept as the ZomB gum (they’re made by the same brand), but its in two sticks and you get a soda flavor, and a melon flavor.

I’d pretty much say the same things as I did about the previous two gums. All three were delicious and I would recommend any of them.

Poteco Pumpkin Gratin & Pringles

Here we have two salty, savory snacks for the box. But of course, the Poteco are not new to us, in fact I think last Halloween we got the exact same pack; minus slightly different packaging. Poteco is good and all, but I got so tired of seeing it that I tend to... shy away from it now. This flavor wasn’t really that different from the original/normal Poteco either.

I was a lot more excited for this item, a unique pack of Japanese Pringles :D Looking at the package, this is a type of ramen or noodle bowl flavor. It’s a mystery item in the booklet so I’m not really sure, but for this small can it is 267 calories!

Honestly, these are so yummy that I don’t even care how many calories there are. The flavor is very strong, it tastes exactly like this cup ramen I like to buy. Trying to describe the flavor, I would say it’s sort of like beef or soy sauce broth, with a hint of a corn taste?

Pokemon Halloween Chocolate & Pikachu Gummies

These are both snacks we’ve had before, so I’ll try to just gist this one.

These crispy snacks are shape like pikachu heads and come in fun, colorful packaging featuring a variety of Pokemon, while the back usually has a fun puzzle or image. Each bag is 83 calories and they are by the brand Tohato.

These are really yummy x3 they have a slightly bitter chocolate taste and remind me a lot of the coco crispy cereals.

The other snack is also pikachu-shaped, but besides its head, there are also the occasional tail you might find ;3 These are by Lotte, and each pack is 90 calories. The flavor is grape and they taste really good too.

The only real thing to bother me about these is that they didn’t cut the gummy around Pikachu’s ears. It’s a minor thing but it bothers me a little.

Halloween Corn Potage Umaibo

Okay, so... because I talk about this a lot, I’m not actually planning on saying anything about it this time :P long story short, corn potage Umaibo is the best.

Squid Legs & Halloween Pizza Corn Snack

Don’t let the name fool you, these are not real squid legs- they just have a fishy taste. I’ve had these before too, and I have fairly complex feelings about them. On one hand they don’t taste terrible, but I don’t like seafood and the flavor is still unappealing to me. I like their crunchy texture though.

Next up is this corn puff snack featuring a delicious pizza flavor! They taste exactly like the pizza-flavored combos, if you never had those before I would recommend them too~

Pokemon Cola Chewing Candy

This is our final item... and now that I look at it, it kinda looks like a wafer cookie doesn’t it?

Anyway, these are sticks of chewing candy that come in various series and flavors. Before we had some grape Thomas the Tank Engine ones, and this time we get some cola Pokemon. Each wrapper usually includes a unique design, craft, or puzzle of some sort.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I don’t know if these are hard because they had to sit around for a while, or because that is just how they are. I don’t remember the Thomas ones being so hard, but they weren’t as thick as these. But if you suck on them for a few minutes they soften up, or you can crunch them to softness. The flavor is very yummy, I think it might be my favorite cola flavored item in the box.

Content - 4.5 out of 5. Everything is very yummy, even though a fair amount of it was repetitive. I really liked it. Theme - 4 out of 5. Well, given the packaging and theme, I could say yeah they did pretty good. We had a decent amount of Pokemon items, but they could have done a little more too I think. Total Rank: 9 out of 10. I really liked this box, I just wish maybe we would have had a couple more unique items.

I made Pokeball truffles!

Inspired by @miscellaneousmaocat‘s amazing Pokemon truffles, these half-spheres are made of a white chocolate shell encasing either a Nutella or peanut butter centre. These are actually a part of a bigger project I’ll reveal next week, but I wanted to give a little sneak peak!

I love how smooth and glossy they look, and they’re pretty dang yummy, too! More pics and the explanation behind the cut!

I finally got to use the silicone mold my partner got me a few years back, so I was really stoked! To start, I melted down some red chocolate melting wafers, and used the back of a spoon to coat half of each inner sphere in a thin layer of chocolate.

Once the red had cooled and solidified, I repeated the process with the white chocolate. I didn’t have a perfectly smooth line between the red and white on all of them, but I’d be covering that later.

I added about 3/4 tablespoon of peanut butter or Nutella in each sphere, and then used an offset spatula to scrape on a flat layer of melted chocolate to seal each truffle.

Once they had hardened completely, I gingerly popped each one out. Then I melted down some milk chocolate, and made a line between the red and white halves as straight as I could. I also added a little dot for the button.

I added the white dots in more melted chocolate, and they were done!

I was definitely a bit too light on the chocolate coating - the warmth from my hands from handling them even for a few seconds was enough to somewhat melt the chocolate at times. But I was surprised by how much I absolutely loved the peanut butter truffles!

Sonamy Week - Pokemon

30th Jul – pokemon

(Comin’ in early, lol)

Prompt 1----

Sonic pouted as he was released from his Pokeball, sitting on the ground with his arms folded in contempt. How could Chris be leaving him here? Of all places! In a Daycare center!

“Come on, Sonic. It won’t be for long.” Chris bent himself down, his bronze hair spiking up on different ends as the Caretaker man nodded with approval.

“That’s right! After all, we’re here to help you grow strong. Nice fresh air, No longer bundled up in your pokeball—many pokemon enjoy the freedoms and hospitalities that the Daycare offers!”

Sonic only narrowed his eyes to the man, and then looked back with silent judgment at Chris.

He wasn’t going to forgive so easily… nor see it their way anytime soon.

Chris smiled sweetly but sweated a little in realizing Sonic was going to stay upset and feeling betrayed by him. “It’s only for a couple of days. I have to train the others and… well,” he put his hand behind his head, his smile growing sheepish. “I kinda favor you too much, Sonic… I need to learn to use my whole team and not rely on you so much. You understand, don’t you? I just want you to have fun, make some friends, and get stronger so that when we meet again… we can take on that gym and not be caught off-guard like last time.” He formed a fist and held it out to his little buddy. “Come on, Sonic… I promise I won’t be gone long.”

Sonic had turned his head, down and away. But with the gentle pleading from Chris, he looked up and lost some of his rebellious fire. He sighed and fist-pumped him, smiling slightly before losing it when Chris started to walk away.

“I know I can count on you, Sonic! Take care! I’ll be back real soon!” he waved as he ran off, leaving Sonic staring with his ears drawing back and his shoulders rising in sorrow.

Never had he felt so alone before… not since he met Chris.

He yawned only a few moments later while sitting in a tree he had found in the Daycare’s backyard nature enclosure and just ate some yummy berries and apples for a while.

He took the large, plumb red thing and gobbled it in one bite, chewing and savoring the taste a moment out of boredom before hearing a pleasant shrill from below.

“Hmm?” he turned to look down and blink his eyes in curiosity.

A pink pokemon, mostly squatting underneath the tree had her eyes hovering daintily upon his form in the tree. As if by instinct, she tried to climb the tree, but kept slipping and looking disappointed that she couldn’t make her way up to him. She threw a mini-tantrum and summoned what looked to be a hammer, using it to hit the tree to try and knock him out.

Out of surprise and how quickly this whole interaction was going, Sonic bounced at the blows from the tree and clung to it, not liking her forceful approach after failing the direct route.

She huffed and breathed hard, before tearing up and shouting, “AMY! Amy Rose!”

He flicked an ear, that must be her name.

“Sonic!” he cried down but huffed his nose in a bit of annoyance. Who does this Amy Rose think she is? Demanding him to come down and introduce himself.

She seemed to lighten up now that he had responded to her his name, before stomping her foot and pouting again. Such a fickle creature…

She continued to try and pressure him out of the tree, but after a moment of her bantering he lay back down on the comfy branch he had found and took another apple from behind himself. He took a bite and chewed, watching her continue to shake her arms about and get him to come down so she could properly meet him. He ended up closing his eyes and turning his back, tossing the apple over his shoulder and having it fall and gently whack her in the face.

The force had her teeter a little off center, but her eyes quickly shifted to pointed arrows to reveal her discomfort.

She rubbed her head,… glaring up at him and now silently plotting her next move…

Unwilling to yield, she took her hammer and slammed the ground, getting some lift.

“Ahh!~” she happily left the ground and felt like she was floating up towards him, and as he turned his head to look lazily back at her, he followed with his eyes to see her fly straight over the tree.

“AHHHH!!!” She cried out as she flew too far and ended up crashing into another tree behind his own.

He thought that was funny.

She dusted off the branches from her head, having a bigger red spot on her head from the impact, and looked sorrowfully back at the new arrival.

Frustrated, she held back her tears, raising her arms a bit up by her sides and stomping away, kicking down bushes to trample over them and get as far away from her embarrassment as possible.

Chris came back a little while later, asking about Sonic, but not taking him back just yet.

“How’s he doing?”

“Well… They don’t seem to get along very well.”

“Who?”

“There’s this pokemon here that has never been retrieved since being dropped off here many years ago. She’s a wonderful pokemon. Always caring for and protecting the weaker pokemon that we take in here. She’s really quite sweet, but I’m afraid they’ve been rather at odds with each other, especially as of late…”

The Old caregiver, turning from having his face to the phone where Chris’s image was on a screen, shifted to see Amy racing after Sonic. “You’ve got quite a Hasty Natured friend, dear trainer. I’m afraid it’s making her rather Bold.”

“He may seem like a Hasty nature-“ Chris began, looking kindly to the man. “But I think he’s rather Lonely at heart.”

“Heh-heh, quite right.” The old man nodded, turning back to the camera with an understanding smile on his face. “I’ve seen cases like this before. Usually, it just takes some time for the two to get used to each other. And if I know Amy Rose, she’s not the kind of pokemon to leave a friend in need!”

“I’ll leave you all to him then.” Chris bowed a little from the screen.

“We’ll do our best.” The old man bowed back and hung up the phone, before sighing and looking out at the two again. “But really… those two have made quite a racket.” He rubbed his bald head before his wife came in, holding some baby pokemon in her arms.

“Is everything alright, deary?”

He waved a carefree hand to her, “Not to worry, my love. Just some drama out back. You know how it can be sometimes with new pokemon entering the daycare.”

The wife ‘oh’d and turned to the window, peering out, and being sure to lean just enough to where she could be unspotted from the rest of the world outside. “My~ Do you think they just need time?”

“Probably a little more than time.” The old man hooted, before lovingly walking over to his wife and holding her a moment. “After all, it’s not like we haven’t been in the same predicament before! Heh-heh-heh!”

“Oh, you tease.” She shook her head to him before the two laughed once more and shared a light peck on the cheek.

“Whelp, I’m off to work.”

“Same here. Be safe, deary.”

He nodded and put on some boots to do some cleaning out back, and then walked out.

As he did so, the wind sped by him, sweeping his loose clothes from his frail, thin body and having them rapidly ripple to the side. “What in blue blazes-?”

Blue as it ever could be, Sonic was trying desperately to avoid this rather spirited pokemon. He leaped over the pond where curious pokemon looked above them to see what was going on and spun deep into a Diglett hole.

He burrowed himself down, snickering, before being rooted out by Amy as she took hold of his foot and started tugging.

Not long after, he started fighting back. Growling even, though very mild, to see if that would sway her away from him. Nothing worked, and in the end, he just hung out on his tree where no matter how many times she tried to find a solution to getting to him, he would remain untouchable.

He yawned as the day began to set, before looking down and seeing her plop down by the base of his tree, finally seeming defeated.

He smiled, raising an eyebrow and took out some berries, chewing on them before he hearing soft sniffles.

Now, Sonic was notorious for his big heart, but no one here knew that.

Looking down, he could hardly ignore in blissful ignorance the soft crying of this tender pokemon… Although, granted, strong… She still seemed rather hearty.

She wiped her eyes and kept her face down. An odd kinship rose in Sonic, seeing as she was the female version of his particular species…

He groaned, moving an arm from behind his head and letting it dangle off the side of the branch while his neck arched back to let his head push off the branch.

He stood upright, annoyed again, before looking to the two Nidorina and Nidorino huddled up beside each other. They were sporting the typical Blue and Pink that their species usually had to distinguish itself by, and the two nudged gently their noses together before falling asleep.

Pouting at the sight, Sonic looked at the berries in his hand.

Was it right to be completely alone? Waiting on Chris?

Sounded boring now that he thought about it.

He gave up, hearing another small whimper from her and smacked his hand into his face, dragging the skin down with it as he decided to come down.

She kept rubbing her eyes and keeping her head down, even as he landed in front of her.

Finally, by shaking some berries in front of her, she opened one eye and looked surprised by his presence.

He smiled.

The friendly gesture led her to question him at first, before reaching a hand over and taking a berry.

She nibbled at first before her eyes lit up and started eating it rapidly down the hatch.

For some reason, feeding her fulfilled something in him, and he quickly ran around collecting more berries for her to munch on.

He sat and enjoyed watching her eat the berries he collected, as a light-hearted conversation began.

They were laughing, oddly enough, to one another and seeming to have a merry time. But when the Murkrow sounded the beginning of the night, Amy Rose looked up at the tree’s branch he was always situation on.

She looked back down at the ground, sorrowful.

Sonic looked to her face, then the tree’s branch.

He thought about what Chris had told him to do… make friends…

He closed his eyes and smiled wider. It wasn’t like he could refuse at this point.

Without another second, a loving look was given to Amy, and she was swept off her feet and carried up the tree like a gust of wind to a leaf.

She was amazed at first, but star-gazed and enjoyed the view from up top. She embraced him with eager noises of delight, as he couldn’t help but hold her, seeing as one false move and she’d be toppling down back to the ground again.

It almost nearly happened, and when he felt his grip around her waist slacken, and her body start to lean back, he immediately used all his muscle-reflex to grab her back to the steadiness of the branch and pull her towards him.

There was a brief pause under the rising moon…

But then Amy Rose slowly adjusted herself and turned her back to his chest, laying back and holding his arms that were now secured around her waist.

She smiled back to him, “Amy.” She stated. “Amy Rose.”

Her beautiful closed, but friendly smile sparked something in him.

“…Sonic.” He properly spoke this time. “Sonic The Hedgehog.”

Her eyes beamed at hearing his full name for the first time and nodded. She leaned back into him again, resting her eyes and tilting her head towards his.

He couldn’t help it. He just held her there, staring at a pokemon who would go through any lengths to receive a proper introduction.

He admired her for that… her determination, before looking up to the sky and pondering more about the stars, the universe… and maybe even a bit about fate.

“Ah! Chris!” The old man placed down his broom and held something inside his long daycare robe. “I assume you’re ready to pick up Sonic?”

“That’s right.” Chris looked to have a greater fire within him now. He must have felt ready to take on the gym again, and this time, him and Sonic—and the rest of his team—would not fail like last time. “How’s he been?”

“Oh, just fine!” The old man beamed, “They’re getting along very well.”

“Huh? Oh, you mean that Amy Rose pokemon?”

“That’s right.” He lead Chris into the back, as something protruded from his slightly exposed chest.

“Huh?” Chris was curious enough to ask, “What’s that? Underneath your robe?”

“Oh, this?” The old caretaker pulled out an egg. “Curiously enough, we just found this laying around outside the daycare center! It oftentimes has happened where we’ll find an egg, but this one is of a curious design and nature. We’re not quite sure how they get here. Would you like to take care of it?”

“R-really?” Chris held out his hands as the Old man passed the mysterious egg to him. “It’s so light!”

“Yes, we believe it drifted down from the trees.” The man mused. “The wind was tossing it all around when we found it, had to run it down and catch it! Curious little things of nature, aren’t they?”

“Certainly, sir.” Chris held the egg with great care, before seeing something blue rushing to greet him. “Sonic!”

Chris placed the egg protectively to the side and caught Sonic with the other, as he leaped into his arms and held him in a tight embrace for a moment.

“My! What an expression of devotion to one’s trainer!” The old man praised, wiping a single tear from his eye. “He must have truly missed you.”

“Haha, I missed you too buddy!” Chris placed him down and showed him the egg, wondering if Sonic would like to sniff it. “Look what the daycare man gave me!”

Sonic didn’t see anything special about it. However, was curious enough to let the tip of his nose smell it.

It smelled familiar…

A slight chirpish, bark was heard from behind the three men, as Sonic turned with delight to stand and beckon her to him.

She was hiding behind the daycare wall… timid and afraid of a new trainer…

“Is that her?” Chris asked, seeing the kind reaction Sonic had to her and how shy she was acting…

“Yes… poor thing. We’re certain that her trainer abandoned her.” The Old caregiver sighed, “Such a waste of youth and a perfectly good pokemon companion…”

“…” Chris thought long and hard, seeing Sonic try and coax her out from the corner, but she still seemed rather hesitant. “…Mr. Daycare man?”

He turned to him, “Yes, my dear boy?”

“…I know you’ve already been so kind to me… and I wouldn’t want to ask more than I should but…” he looked at the egg, “Maybe…”

He was about to pass the egg back, hoping to exchange it for something else, but the Daycare man knew the thoughts of his heart before he even spoke them.

“No, take them. They deserve a kind-hearted trainer like yourself.” He gently pushed the egg back to his side and smiled as he gestured for Chris to approach Amy.

“Her name is Amy Rose. She’s the female variant of Sonic. I hope you’ll take good care of her.” Then, with a swipe of his daycare robe, he revealed her Pokeball. It was a Heal Ball, pink and perfect, shining in the morning light.

He took the ball and walked over to Sonic, bending down and trying to coax her out too. “It’s alright, I won’t hurt you. I wanted to thank you for taking care of Sonic for me while I wasn’t around. I know he can be a bit… anti-social…”

Sonic looked back at him with some resentment at him stating that… but knew it was slightly true and rolled his eyes.

“I have an egg here. I’m not really sure how to care for baby pokemon… but I heard you have experience with taking care of smaller pokemon here at the daycare. Sonic nudged his side, making Chris laugh as he seemed embarrassed and looked away. Chris could tell he was different, in a better way, of course.

��Will you?” he offered her the Pokeball.

She stared at her old Pokeball a moment, before looking to Sonic, still clinging to the daycare’s corner wall.

He nodded to her, striking a confident pose with his hands on his hips. ‘Join him.’ His eyes engaged hers, ‘Join us.’

She stared a moment longer back at Chris.

With adventure in her excitement, she gleefully jumped into Chris’s arms.

The Heal Ball swallowed her up in a burst of light, and Chris rose up and held it high. “Alright! I caught an Amy Rose!”

Sonic jumped up in joy too, matching the pose with an even cooler one, before coming back down and giving him a thumbs up and a signature wink.

“I’m happy you made a friend, Sonic.” Chris smiled sweetly, as Sonic nodded his head.

Amy popped out of the Pokeball, hugging and loving on Sonic as he nervously took her affections and looked the other way.

“Amy!” she greeted, just a slightly higher pitch than normal. “Amy Rose!”

He turned slowly back to her, a look of regrettable charmed awareness that he was hoping wouldn’t show through as his eyelids bent back to show some further care for her than simply a new friend…

“Sonic.” He spoke out, “Sonic The Hedgehog.”

Third person POV

The group is on their way to Santalune city, taking a break to rest up. Holding Pikachu, Bonnie starts to wipe its face. Pikachu dislikes it at first but eventually enjoys getting cleaned. "There, all done. Nice and clean" Bonnie tells Pikachu. "That's awesome. Thank you" Ash says to Bonnie. "Oh, you don't have to thank me. I love doing this kind of stuff 'cause I love Pokémon" Bonnie answers. Pikachu walks up to Bonnie, he seems to be closer to her now. Petting his tail, he lets out a happy "chu". Bonnie grabs Pikachu and goes to where ash is. "Hey, Ash, does Pikachu like having its tail petted like that?" The little girl asks. "Yeah, a whole lot."

Bonnie starts to laugh and does a happy dance with Pikachu still in her grasp. "What a cutie pie! Then that's just what I'm gonna do." Bonnie starts petting his tail again, Pikachu very pleased and happy. Clement walks up to the pair "Looks like fun. Let me try." Clement says and pets the tail as well. "Hey, Ash can you let Fletchling out? I want to take care of it" Bonnie asks ash. "Okay. Fletchling, come on out!" Fletchling appears from its Pokeball. Bonnie sits down next to the bird Pokémon and asks "Hey, Fletchling, do you mind if I clean your wings?". Fletchling faces its wings towards Bonnie so she can clean them. "You're good at that too. Fletchling loves having its wings cleaned" Ash says to Bonnie. Bonnie giggles in response. "Taking care of Pokémon makes you really happy, doesn't it?" Clement says to his sister. "Yup!" Bonnie says. "You do a very good job with them too! I'm sure you'll be an amazing Trainer one day" Cami tells Bonnie.

As Ash is getting stuff out of his backpack, a Dedenne walks towards him, eyeing at the Pokémon food. Bonnie hands Pikachu a piece of Pokémon food, Pikachu eats it and thanks Bonnie. "Well? Is that yummy Pokémon food?" Bonnie asks Pikachu. Just as Bonnie is about to give Pikachu some more, Dedenne runs over and steals the food! Once Dedenne is far enough, it stops running and eats it, a happy gleam in its eyes. Everyone is shocked by the Dedenne taking the food "Could that be the very same Dedenne?" Clement questions. "Yeah. The one who ran away." Says Bonnie. "It must've been following us this whole time!" Ash says, Pikachu agreeing. "Why did it follow us? Just for food?" Cami says, confused. "Come on, Clement, catch it, please?" Bonnie tells her brother, wanting Dedenne. "Alright."

Dedenne begins to run away before Clement can do anything. "Come back!" Bonnie says to it. The group runs to where it went, hoping to follow it. "Fletchling, follow it!" Ash tells Fletchling, the tiny robin flying after it. Everyone else follows "Dedenne, wait!" Bonnie calls out. Fletchling lands on a tree branch, looking around the area. "Did you lose it, Fletchling?" Ash asks, Fletchling agrees, meaning Dedenne is nowhere to be found. "Dedenne! Where are you? Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Bonnie calls out, wanting Dedenne to come out. Bonnie suddenly trips on a hole in the ground, causing her to fall on her back. "Bonnie!" Ash, Clement and Cami call out to her. Bonnie groans and opens her eyes, seeing Dedenne in front of her who is upsidedown. Dedenne calls out, sounding concerned. Bonnie flips back up "There you are!" Bonnie says and attempts to grab Dedenne that is in one of the many holes in the ground. Dedenne disappears into the hole before Bonnie can get it. "Hey, wait!" Says Bonnie, the girl then going to the next hole.

"Bunnelby, get Dedenne out of the hole!" Clement says, bunnelby comes out. "You too, Pikachu!" Ash says to his partner. "Polly! Come out and help out everyone!" Cami throws the heal ball into the air, Polly the Pikachu appearing. All three Pokémon go to the holes, "Over there, come on!" Bonnie points to where she last saw Dedenne. Everyone helps, looking in each hole, hoping to spot Dedenne. Clement thinks he spots Dedenne, which turns out to actually be Pikachu, who thunderbolts him. "Whoa, that Dedenne sure is quick" Ash says. "I want it now!" Bonnie says, getting impatient. Pikachu jumps back into one of the holes, determined to find the Pokémon. Finding Dedenne, Pikachu confronts it. Dedenne doesn't listen so Pikachu tackles it, both struggling in each other's grasp. The ground's underfoot gives way, causing them both to roll off the cliff and fall onto a field.

The pair of electric types look around their surroundings. Pikachu spots a hole in the side of the cliff, probably where they fell from. Pikachu looks at Dedenne who sends electrical waves to Pikachu and then runs away. Calling out to Dedenne, it sends some electrical waves as well and the pair begin communicating. The two Pokémon don't realize that Team rocket is spying on them "there's Pikachu" Jessie says to her teammates. "True. With a bonus Pokémon too." Says James. "Yeah? What is it?" Meowth asks. James looks it up and finds the Pokémon, saying "Ooh, it's a Dedenne. An electric type." "Never seen one before" Meowth says to James. "They're having a back-and-forth buzz fest!" Jessie says, looking with their team rocket binoculars. " 'Since they're both electric types I'd guess they're in the process of communicating." "Meowth, translation!" Jessie tells the Pokémon, bored. "No can do. I don't speak Electricity!" Meowth remarks back. "What luck. The Twerp's nowhere to be seen!" Says Jessie. "Perfect. His loss is our gain." James says. Team rocket seems ready to take action and take Pikachu and Dedenne.

Bonnie's looking in one of the holes "I think they're gone." Bonnie says with sadness in her voice. "Maybe it got away" Clement says. "Maybe. Pikachu hasn't come back either." Is Ash's answer. "Bunnelby, would you mind going back down there and looking for Pikachu?" Clement asks bunnelby who agrees. "Polly, you go too. You may be able to help since you're an electric type too." Cami tells Polly. Both Bunnelby and Polly go and investigate inside the tunnel. Ash looks worried about Pikachu. "Don't worry Ash, I'm sure Pikachu is just fine" Cami says and puts her hand on his shoulder. "I hope so"

Meanwhile Pikachu and Dedenne are on the move, looking for the group. Dedenne's stomach grumbles, indicating that it's hungry. Pikachu looks back at Dedenne talking in their own Pokémon language. Dedenne has a sad look on its face, possibly very hungry. Looking around for anything edible, Pikachu sees some Sitrus berries. He unleashes a thunderbolt that hits one of the berries, making it fall down. Pikachu goes over to the berry, bringing it to Dedenne. Grabbing it, Dedenne looks grateful and eats the yummy berry. Suddenly an object comes flying towards them, Pikachu grabs Dedenne and dodges it. On the cliff, are black figures.

Prepare for trouble, my prize Pikachu!

And make it double, with Dedenne too!

To protect the world from devastation.

To unite all people within our nation.

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie.

And James.

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.

Surrender now or prepare for a fight!

Wobbuffet!

"Now, Pikachu, be a polite Pokémon and let us catch you" Jessie says. "Dedenne, please, you too" says James. Pikachu looks and Dedenne and together they run away from Team Rocket. The trio go after them, not giving up. "Take that! And that!" Meowth says as he throws the same items from before. "And this!" Pikachu does his famous thunderbolt at them. "Wobbuffet, go!" Jessie commands wobbuffet, who uses Mirror Coat to lessen the damage and reflects it back at the pair. The two are pained from the attack, getting thrown a bit. "Don't you ever get tired? Take a break!" Jessie says. "For our sake!" "Chill!" James and Meowth say.

Bunnelby pops out of the ground "How did it go, Bunnelby?" Bunnelby gets out of the hole and disagrees, both him and Polly found nothing. "I guess you guys didn't find Pikachu, did you?" Bonnie said to Bunnelby and Polly. "I'm afraid Pikachu might have gotten lost wandering through all those tunnels" Clement tells his little sister. "Clement, we've just gotta find Pikachu." Ash looks at Fletchling who is on his shoulder "Fletchling, look for Pikachu from the air" He tells as Fletchling flies to look from the air. They all watch the bird fly away.

"Give it up!" Jessie yells at Pikachu and Dedenne. "Hey! Stop!" Meowth says. Jessie sees Dedenne and throws a blue electric web that hurts Dedenne. Dedenne falls down the cliff, crying. Pikachu grabs Dedenne's tail with his mouth to stop it from falling. "Gotcha! Almost! Once more!" Jessie says while attempting to get Dedenne. Pikachu manages to get Dedenne up and to safety. The two Pokémon run further up the cliff in hopes of escaping Team Rocket. "Oh, no. If this keeps up, they'll get away." Jessie tells her two teammates. "We can't let that happen. Okay, Inkay. Hey, Hey!" James brings his newly caught Inkay into the battle. "Now, Tackle!" Inkay aims the tackle attack at Dedenne, that hits and damages it. Pikachu approaches Dedenne, worried about it. "Alright, Inkay, Psybeam!" James commands. The psybeam hits both Pikachu and Dedenne, causing rocks and themselves to fall off the cliff and into the river below.

"I give. Where's Pikachu?" Jessie says. "Downstream!" Meowth says. There's Pikachu and Dedenne, struggling in the river. "They're getting away!" Says Jessie. "But I've got just the thing. Our rubber Rocket raft!" James throws a tiny box into the air and out comes a raft! "That's some lifesaver." Jessie says. "Like me" James says. The trio and their two Pokémon get in the raft, very cramped "Keep your powder dry, Pikachu! You'll be ours in no time!" James says while rowing with an oar. "I can hardly breathe" Says Jessie. "So it's a little bit small. Deal with it" James tells the girl. "Concentrate on finding Pikachu!" Meowth tells them. Looking around, they spot something. "Huh? Look! Pikachu alert." Jessie says as she spots Pikachu in the water with Dedenne. The moment is short lived as they float right past them. "Wait! Stop this bathtub! We floated right past!" Jessie exclaims as they move farther away. "Strong current, eh, captain?" Says Meowth to James, "Aye aye, matey." Inkay suddenly alerts everyone, looking straight ahead is a big rock that they are about to crash into. They hit into it, making the rubber raft tear open and they blast off again.

Pikachu and Dedenne get out of the water, Pikachu helping Dedenne walk. Dedenne, weak from the events that happened, collapsed on the ground. Pikachu calls out to it with a worried tone. Luckily, Fletchling is flying over them and spots them. Pikachu looks up to see his friend and waves at Fletchling. Fletchling alerts the group and they go to where Pikachu and Dedenne are. "Pikachu!" Ash calls out to his partner. "I was so worried about you, buddy." Pikachu points over to Dedenne so Ash and the gang can help Dedenne. "Dedenne!" Bonnie calls out to the weak Pokemon. "Dedenne! Dedenne! Now what are we gonna to do? I'm scared" Bonnie asks her brother. "What about the Pokémon Center?" Ash suggests. "I think we should treat Dedenne right here. Let's give it some electricity" Clement answers.

"Electricity?" Bonnie questions. "How do we do that?" Ash says. Clement chuckles, "Just leave it to me. Remember, the future is now, thanks to science. Clemontic Gear on. I've got the perfect machine for a situation like this. Presenting my electricity generator" Clement shows one of his inventions. Ash looked amazed at the machine. "Another boring name" Bonnie said, looking annoyed at her brother. "Please say it's not going to explode like the last one" Cami says, weary of the machine. "Now, observe. If you put a plaster clipboard under your arm and rub it like this.." Clement rubs it under his arm and then puts it above Bonnie's head. She looks up and then laughs. "The resulting friction causes the buildup of electrons and creates static electricity, see? This brilliant machine uses that exact same principle which allows it to create a massive electrical charge" Clement says and places Dedenne down by the machine. As he's walking to power it on, Cami steps back just in case it blows up. 'Safety first.' Cami thinks inside her head.

"And power, on!" The machine turns on and starts moving the clipboard back and forth, creating electricity like Clement said would happen. Bonnie, Ash and Cami look at the machine in amazement. "Do you see the electricity?" Clement says, his glasses making him look like a mad scientist. "That's awesome. Science is so amazing!" Ash says, his voice full of childlike wonder. "You sure this is gonna work?" Bonnie asks. "Sure I'm sure. Just watch." Clement says, sounding confident in his work. The electricity goes to where Dedenne is laying, seeming to work. Dedenne then wakes up, looking refreshed. "Great! I think you can turn it off now" Ash tells Clement. "One problem. I can't" Clement reveals the lever that he's holding.

Everyone except Clement starts screaming, the machine then starts shaking violently. "Dedenne, get away, quick!" Bonnie tells Dedenne. "You've gotta stop that thing!" Ash says to Clement. "I wish I knew how." The machine suddenly lets out smoke and in an instant, it explodes. Cami was the only one not affected from the explosion. "Is everyone ok?" Cami asks as she approaches everyone. They just groan in response. "Oopsie! I guess it's back to the drawing board." Clement says, holding part of the lever. "Yeah. Look at my hair" Bonnie remarks. Dedenne walks up to the group, looking much better now. "Hmm. Alright. Dedenne's sure feeling a lot better" Ash says as Dedenne runs around everyone. "That's what counts. All's well that ends well" Clement says, probably hoping everyone will forget the machine malfunction. "Dedenne. I'm glad you're feeling all better now" Bonnie tells Dedenne with a smile. Dedenne then goes to Clement and talks to him. "I think it's saying thanks for the electricity" Ash guesses. Chuckling, Clement says "Come on. You don't have to thank me."

Bonnie then remembers something, "Huh? Clement, Clement! Catch it, catch it!" Bonnie says to her brother. "Hey, that's right. I totally forgot about doing that" Clement goes to get something out of his pocket when a voice comes. "Hold it right there!" Team Rocket member Jessie speaks. "Now prepare for trouble, the it means you." "Yoo-hoo" Meowth calls out. "Meanwhile, we'll just take Pikachu" James says and continues "Giving it to the Boss is the least we can do." "By the way, if you're thinking of running you've got another thing coming" Meowth tells the twerps. "Wait a minute. This whole thing was your fault the whole time" Ash says to Team Rocket. "Why are you guys always being so mean to Pokémon?" Bonnie says. "Ya, and why aren't you two a couple yet? What's up with that?" Cami says, referring to James and Jessie.

"Noisy, aren't we? Inkay, come on!" James calls out Inkay once more. In a surprise turn, Dedenne stands in front of everyone, angry at Team Rocket. "Dedenne, you wanna battle, don't you? So you can get back at them for what they did" Clement asks Dedenne who looks back at him, agreeing. "Great! Dedenne, Tackle!" He commands Dedenne. "Inkay! Use Foul Play!" Inkay grabs Dedenne and throws it down while using foul play. Dedenne falls but recovers fast. "Now, Inkay, Psybeam, go!" "Look out!" Bonnie yells to Dedenne while it dodges the Psybeam attack. "Dedenne, Tackle one more time!" Dedenne tackles Inkay who is pained from the tackle.

"You're doing great. Alright, now use Nuzzle" Clement tells Dedenne. Dedenne nuzzles on Inkay, "Wow! That move's so cute! I like Dedenne even more!" Bonnie exclaims, in awe by the cuteness. "And better yet, Nuzzle paralyzes the other Pokémon" Clement says. "No way!" "Yeah, Dedenne, way,to go!" Ash encourages Dedenne. James calls out to Inkay, concerned for his Pokémon. Pikachu jumps next to Dedenne and Dedenne sends Pikachu a message via electrical waves. Dedenne also sends Polly a message, who goes on Dedenne other side. "Okay, Pikachu, you use Thunderbolt" "and, Dedenne, you use Thunder Shock" "Polly, let's use Discharge" Ash, Clement and Cami command the Pokémon. All three Pokémon link their cheek pouches and unleash a powerful charge of electricity at Inkay. Inkay goes flying at Team Rocket's balloon and pops it, making the hot air balloon explode. "We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket says in union.

"Pikachu, Dedenne, Polly, awesome!" Ash praises the three Pokémon. "Dedenne, you're the best!" Bonnie tells the antenna Pokemon. "Thank you all" Clement tells them. "Polly, you were amazing! I'm so proud of you all!" Cami says while holding Polly and giving her a big bear hug. Dedenne runs around Bonnie and Clement, then sends Pikachu and Polly electrical waves. Pikachu talks to ash, "Dedenne really wants to come with us?" Ash understands what Pikachu was saying to him, a true partner bond. "Yeah? Really? Yippee! We'll have so much fun! You'll see!" Bonnie says with pure glee. Dedenne looks excited as well. "Pretty please?" Bonnie says and tugs on Clement's arm. "Hmm. Yeah. Now, it's time. Go Poke Ball!" Clement throws the Poke ball at Dedenne's head and in it goes. While it's shaking, Bonnie is holding her hands together with her eyes closed. The ball clicks, confirming that Dedenne was caught. "I did it!"

Clement picks up the ball and says "Yes! Alright! I caught Dedenne and I'll be keeping it for Bonnie!" "This is so cool. Thank you!" Bonnie says as they pose together. "Hey, can you let Dedenne come out? I wanna take care of it." Bonnie asks him. "Sure. I'll do it right now." Clement lets it out and both Bonnie and Dedenne run up to each other. "Dedenne! Yay! Ha ha ha! Hi, there. I'm Bonnie. And see? That's my brother, Clement. That's Pikachu and Ash. Of course there's Cami and Polly!" Bonnie tells Dedenne about everyone. "Nice to meet you" Ash tells Dedenne. "Let's be friends, ok?" Cami says.

Bonnie puts Dedenne down on the grass, "Here. Let me get you cleaned up. You got yourself all dirty from the battle." Bonnie starts cleaning Dedenne with a washcloth and strokes it's tail, Dedenne looks happy with its tail being petted like Pikachu. "Hey, look! Dedenne likes it when I pet it's tail too" Bonnie says. "Wow! I never would have guessed" Clement says. "You both like the same thing. You two are just like twins" Bonnie hugs both Pikachu and Dedenne. "Hey, Cami, does Polly like getting her tail petted too?" Bonnie asked Cami. "She sure does. She also loves getting her tail brushed" Cami answers. Polly walks over to Bonnie and holds her tail out for her to pet.

"Well, they're both electric types, remember" Clement tells his sister. "You're gonna have fun with Dedenne, aren't you, Bonnie?" Ash asks. "Yeah! Dedenne is so cute! Nuzzle, nuzzle, nuzzle" Bonnie says 'nuzzle' as she's rubbing her cheek with Dedenne's. Dedenne uses the move Nuzzle on Bonnie, electrocuting her. "Nuzzle's one of Dedenne's moves. I guess you forgot" Clement says to Bonnie. "Yup. And now I can feel what it's like to be paralyzed" Says Bonnie. Dedenne starts yawning and quickly falls asleep. Bonnie looks down at it "Huh? It fell asleep" Bonnie questioned. "Of course. You see, Dedenne tend to fall asleep a lot. That's just one of the things they do to conserve their energy" Clement says, he must know his Pokémon knowledge well. "Awesome, an energy saver" Ash says. "Okay, you can take a nap in here" Bonnie puts Dedenne in her yellow purse bag which is the perfect fit for Dedenne's size. "How about we take a quick lunch break and then get going?" Clement suggests. "Ya! Lunch sounds yummy!" Bonnie says.

Cami's POV

Ash and Clement are setting everything up while Bonnie and I wait for the food. 'I should probably do my daily things with my Pokémon' I thought and open up my bag. "Come on out everyone!" I say and throw my Pokeballs into the air. Olive, Foongus, Lopunny, Scatterbug and Mime Jr appear. Polly is already out of her ball and cherrium is staying at Professor Juniper's lab for a little. "What are you doing?" Bonnie asks me. "I like to clean up my Pokémon every day, it's a nice bonding exercise and they enjoy it. You wanna help?" I ask her. She nods her head quickly. I dig through my bag and pull out a cloth, spray bottle and brush. I face my Pokémon "Ok everyone, let's go to the River!"

They are all used to getting wet, Foongus just likes having me close by him and I just Scatterbug so this will be his first time. That's why I have the spray bottle, it's easier using that so they can get used to it. "Here Bonnie, Fill up the spray bottle with water and spray Scatterbug gently with it and then dry it off with the cloth" I explain to her what to do. "Ok! Come on, Scatterbug." Bonnie went off to do her job with Scatterbug while I started helping out my Pokémon. Poor foongus was extra nervous today and didn't want to get off my lap. "It's ok foongus. Here look, the water is safe" I took off my shoes and socks and put my feet and lower legs in the water. Foongus slowly walked to the river and put his hand in. Gently picking him up, I held him in the water and he seemed content now. "You're doing sure a good job foongus" I praise him and my other Pokémon clap as a way of showing they are proud too.

After a couple of minutes, my Pokémon got out and we were ready to dry off. The hardest Pokémon to get dry is Lopunny since she's taller and has more fur. Drying off everyone takes hard work but I'm willing to put in the work so I can spend more time with my Pokémon. "Ta-da! Scatterbug's all clean! Can I help out some more?" Bonnie says and holds out Scatterbug. "Awesome, thanks so much Bonnie! I'd very much appreciate it if you could help dry off everyone." With a extra pair of hands, we got them nice and dry. I assigned Bonnie the job of putting back on Olive's bow and Mime Jr's bowtie. Also allowing her to play with everyone once they were finished. Now to brush their fur. Well the Pokémon that has fur. So only Lopunny and Polly. I always do Polly first since Lopunny's fur usually takes longer. "Okay, Polly, time to get brushed!" Polly comes running over, very excited to get brushed. I like to hum a tune when brushing them, helps them relax more.

"'Kay, all done. You can go play with everyone now" I tell Polly.Lopunny already knows the routine and is already sitting down. "Lopun" she sighs and relaxes. 'Man we've come a long way. When I first got her as a buneary, she didn't listen to me and now we're so close to each other' I think to myself, proud of the progress I've made since becoming a trainer.

"Everyone, lunch is ready!" Ash calls out. "We have Pokémon food set out as well" Clement says which makes my Pokémon go running towards the food. "Yummy! Let's go eat!" Bonnie grabs my hand and drags me over to the table and food. I look at the food and man does it look delicious. "Let's eat!" We all say in unison. All is peaceful until I hear crying, and not just any crying but foongus crying. I run over to him "What's wrong? Does it not like the Pokémon food?" Bonnie asks me. "I think I have a solution" I look through my bag for one of the magost berries that I always have on hand for something just like this. After creating a dust like powder with the berry, I sprinkle it onto his food. "Hey, Foongus, Look" he looks up and I put a piece of the food into my food. Everyone looks shocked by my action which is understandable. "See, it's yummy, and your favorite kind" I tell him. He finally starts to eat the food. I sit back down on my seat and continue eating.

"Why did you eat the Pokémon food?" Ash asks, curious. "I do that so I can show my Pokémon that it's ok to eat the food. I also do it to determine if the food is too bitter or spicy. It helps me understand them better since they can't tell you how they feel" I explain to them. I learned this technique from my mom who does this with the Pokémon at the daycare. Although it's unfortunate when the food is too bitter or spicy and you have to taste it, I've learned the hard way. "Woah, that's so cool! You're a great Trainer, Cami!" Ash complements me. "Huh? Kalos queen?" Ash questions. "Right! You see here in Kalos, female trainers perform with their Pokémon in showcases. They are called Pokémon performers. You enter what is called showcases, the first round is called the theme performance where you do tasks such as baking PokePuffs or dressing up your Pokémon. The second round is called the free style performance where you perform with your Pokémon together. If you win the showcase, you earn a princess key and if you get three keys, you can enter the master class and have a chance to become Kalos Queen. I already earned one key so I only need two more" I explain and show them the princess key I won from lumiose city. "Wow, sounds awesome. I'd love to see you perform" Ash tells me, Pikachu agreeing. "I'm sure you'll definitely become Kalos Queen, Cami! Dedenne and I will be cheering for you!" Bonnie tells me. "Thanks! It's going to take lots of work but my Pokémon and I are up for the task!" I say with confidence.We all finished eating and are getting ready to get on the move again. "Return!" I call back everyone except Olive since she'll just get out of her Pokeball in five minutes. "Santalune Gym, here we come!" Ash cheers.

Too busy walking, no one notices a Pokémon looking at them "Melo" it calls out and disappears within an instant.
