I recently come across Robin MacPherson's YouTube channel and I've found he has quite a few really good, insightful videos in regards to language learning.
I just watched this one he posted from 2 year ago that's given me some good advice for helping me with trying to work out an efficient study routine for myself, since after finishing my Japanese classes and sort of being forced into a break for a few years, it has been a bit difficult getting back into a sort of study routine.
Anyway, just wanted to share this video and Robin's channel since it's been helping me out with structuring a new routine for myself, that maybe there's something there that can help any of you as well. :)

Day 4: What would you describe your study method as?
My approach to studying is so multi-faceted this question lowkey brings me dread, haha. I act on my belief that each study method has its own perks, so I dare not limit myself to just one or a few just because some quizzes told me I’m some type of learner. I won’t completely discredit the approach though! I have been told I am a kinesthetic learner which I agree with very much. Being hands on and trying something or figuring out something for myself is golden for solidifying something into my memory. However incorporating methods that cater to listening, visual, and all of the above is critical for further concreting understanding in your studies.
I firmly believe this, and I think by taking this kind of approach, I have significantly improved my ability to memorize quickly and from the getgo. What used to take me five billion passovers to learn a set of 20 new vocab, now only takes three, which you can imagine by how much that cuts down the time I spend studying things and how much time is freed to spend on others.
Since my main studies center around languages, I'll go ahead and share a past study schedule I used to follow that illustrates the emphasis on touching more than one area.

On another note, today I emptied my old phones of pictures and stuff so i could recover those before i got rid of them and omgggggggg. So many memories (And cringey photos/videos lol).

Day 2 | February Productivity Challenge
2.02.22 Wednesday
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 2: What are you reading right now?
Before I went on vacation over the holidays, I was reading Conplications by Atul Gawande (a surgeons notes on imperfect science). it was really interesting, though I didn’t get far and I didn’t bring it with me. I’m actually getting my hands on a BUNCH of books shortly today which is really exciting. Language books included.
So in the meantime, the only “reading” I do lately is webtoons! It’s easier to fit into work and engage quickly.
What did I get done today?
Simply put,
- studying more korean
- studying more japanese
- brainstorming for business marketing as well as products
- cleaning my room

Do you know what 눈 is?
Tumblr media
Do you know what 눈 is?
When speaking with someone in Korean, how do you tell if what is being talked about is 눈(eyes) or 눈(snow)?
A common response might be “context” or “I don’t know”(lol), but there is actually (supposed to be) a difference between them. You can find this difference when you pronounce the two. When you pronounce it 눈 as in “eye,” it would be said prolonging the "n" sound as in "noonn." When you are saying 눈 as in “snow,” you would pronounce it normally/short. 그냥 "noon".
Earlier I had said “supposed to be” (a difference. That is because with the modern progression of the language and how it is used in society today, many Koreans are leaving this distinction out of their speech. Because of this, context is still your best friend. There are many words in the Korean language to which these rules apply. The language is all about context. 당연하지we know eyes don’t fall from the sky and you don’t blink your snow. Even in English, you are able to tell when either “flower” or “flour” is being said, or even which “right” is being said, right?
