Vengeful Knight

When Danny moved to Gotham he didn't think that would be a problem, his rogues agreed to let him go (or at least, most of them) and it was a good opportunity to get his college degree.

Of course, you can't spend your whole life with ghosts without getting attached to them or having them getting attached to you. Although most of them had promised, Danny was well aware that not all of them were going to keep that promise.

A good example was Fright Knight, who instead of staying in the Realms decided to move in with him and provide additional "protection"; the halfa figured it made sense, since he was now "heir" or whatever, he was just setting him back a few years.

Fright Knight took his job very seriously, mostly hiding in Danny's shadow and keeping watch. That was fine until the halfa got caught in a rogue attack in Gotham and inevitably, Frighty decided to do his job and press a sword down their throats.

Danny escaped from there soon after, but this trend continued to happen (rogues, muggers, even cops, anything "dangerous" ended up with a sword around his neck).

When he read in the Gotham newspaper about the "spirit of a knight" and "Gotham's recent problem with nightmares" he knew he had to do something about it. He was almost certain that people were going to consider him a vigilante or worse, a bat.

Besides, the nightmare dimension was getting pretty crowded and Danny didn't want to be part of the trauma of half the population in Gotham.

jaime lannister enjoyers are fascinating creatures to me because there is exactly four types of them with no overlaps between them. i‘ve never seen a jaime stan who wasn’t invested in him in more than one of these four very specific ways. every jaime enjoyer is either a jaime azor ahai and valonquar truther who thinks that he is grrm‘s magnum opus, a middle aged white woman who just thinks nikolaj coster waldau is hot, a self diagnosed sigma who wildly misinterprets him as a character and views jaime lannister as the very picture of desirable masculinity, or an insane teenage girl who writes the best and deepest analysis of him you’ve ever seen but also regularly refers to jaime as a poor little meow meow and as so deeply pathetic it makes him fuckable again.

that post about toph is so real.. i think she would be an amazing earthbending teacher.. i can just picture her being tough love esque but also genuinely loving the job as a way to embrace her skills and culture and help others embrace their skills especially when her own parents tried to stifle hers

i mean, she already is a teacher! that’s her primary role in the show! and it’s true, that’s exactly how she is with aang. i do think she’d continue teaching (although not in the very formal way the comics present it, she would literally never start an actual school, being opposed to all institutions on principle). she’d really only select students she felt she could vibe with and who showed real potential, but also displayed curiosity, creativity, and humility, much like piandao. being trained by toph beifong would be an incredible exalted honor (also much like piandao, only in earthbending as opposed to swordsmanship) and she would foster very close relationships with all her students over the years. she could never train more than one student at a time though, because earthbending is such a personal and intimate process to her. she needs to take you into the mountains to meet badgermoles, really focus all her energy into helping you fulfill your own self-actualization through honing your craft. much like the way she helps korra in the swamp (for the record i am always saying that toph would make a great, albeit highly unconventional, therapist).

and speaking of korra, i like to think that lin and su were not her biological children (as if, she’d make katara those thangs so fast), but rather two of toph’s more promising protégés who both eventually broke her heart by choosing life paths she disagreed with. and they were both orphaned at a very young age, hence why she ended up raising them, but also sometimes resented the burden of basically having daughters when she never ever wanted to be a mother. and i think her refusal to outright call them her daughters or define them as her family would also become a wound that festers for them, even if she feels completely justified in that decision. but yeah. it’s obviously completely unrealistic that she would be a cop and a mother by choice, but i do think that this reworking does make sense for her, because as much as i disagree with many of the choices made in lok, i do think lin and su are fascinating characters in their own right, and with some tweaking, could actually make sense as they are incorporated and positioned in the narrative.

Fake Batman

Despite the years he had spent in the Realms and how much he had changed, Danny could admit that he missed being a hero, or at least a vigilante of sorts. Being a King was stressful and everyone asked for his opinion, something that had improved over the years but had never completely changed.

So when Clockwork told him that there was a hero named "Batman" in another dimension, he was interested. Mainly because the people there seemed to think Batman was a ghost or connected to the supernatural, when in reality he was just an ordinary person.

Sure, he was also a billionaire but everyone had their flaws and Danny didn't plan to hold that against him. Someday he would meet a normal billionaire with no hidden agendas, he was sure.

Batman had children too, even though he "worked alone" and the halfa was very interested. So much so, that when his mentor asked him if he wanted to spend a vacation in Gotham pretending to be the vigilante he agreed without much trouble.

It seemed that Batman had been badly hurt and people were starting to lose their fear of him, something that was critical in Gotham. So Danny agreed to his mentor's request and imitated the Bat's costume as best he could, adding a more supernatural effect than usual.

It wasn't long before Bruce found out about his double. A double who was doing his job very well and scaring his villains while he remained in bed, he would be grateful if it wasn't so worrisome.

Alfred took the plate Jason was holding before he once again phased through the floor.

Jason landed with all the grace of a newborn giraffe. He was just about to let a slew of expletives fly until he saw Stephanie. She was in the middle of wrapping the Batmobile in purple chrome.

“WOW! Timbers was not kidding about you dropping in every once and awhile!”

Oh no, if Jason garners the attention of Steph he’s never going to be able to met his goal.

“Do you want me to help?” Stephanie’s face only showed mischievous intent.

“No.” Jason got up and began cautiously shuffling his way back to where he was.

“Come on! I wanna help!” Steph followed him the whole way up.

“No!”

Danny has seen many a curious scene. A giant monster made of meat, an evil back shaver, a baby pirate, but this was both surprising and entertaining. One moment Jason was refusing the help of a person he’d never seen before and the next he was gone.

“Come on! oop!” Stephanie whipped her head around.

“No! Your help isn’t helpful!” Jason’s voice was coming from where he was a moment ago.

“Oh! You did it!” Danny exclaimed.

“Did what?” The interruption caused Jason to pop back into view.

Danny demonstrated with his own powers. “You turned invisible! Your whole body too! When I was starting out it was just my hands!”

Stephanie was too stunned to speak for a moment.

“So another thing I have to worry about doing on accident?” Jason said this exasperatedly as he began to sink.

“Hey umm.” Danny tried to point out the situation.

“Nonono! Solid thoughts! Tungsten, Kevlar! Granite! Steel!”

“Water in a sieve!” Steph recovered from her stunned state at the possibility for mischief.

Jason slipped through the floor again.

Danny stuck his head through the floor “You almost had it! Try to slow down your molecules next time!”

Bruce returned to his home to see his Batmobile in a glitter purple hue and his second oldest son falling through the ceiling then subsequently the Batmobile.

“Jason are you alright?”

A muffled “yep” came from under the bedazzled Batmobile.

This was the 24th time he’s fallen. he’s almost halfway through his bet and he just fell in front of the old man. Of all people this was the worst option. He really doesn’t want Bruce to see him like this.

“Jason?” Bruce couldn’t find him. Did the net fail? Is he somewhere in the crust of the earth? Was he on the other side of the globe?

“Yeah?”

Oh. Invisibility. Okay.

“Perhaps I could contact Martian Manhunter about dealing with intangibility?”

“Please.”

“Alright.”

Stephanie was laughing her way into the bat cave until she froze. “Sorry Jason I couldn’t pass up the opportunity-”

Bruce very quietly said a single word. “Stephanie”

Such a statement even silenced Danny who was also laughing at the Batmobile’s new exterior.

“And that’s my queue to leave! Goodnight everybody!” She said, scrambling for an exit.

“Wait for me! I don’t want to die again!” Danny followed.

“Great those two get along too swimmingly.” Jason said, clambering his way from under the purplemobile.

“I agree.”
