Which countries benefit from a redistribution of wealth?
All this data was taken rom the wikipedia article on List of countries by wealth per adult. All of the data below will be in USD since thats the currency used by the articles. I'll also be using median wealth over mean as it gives a better indication of most adults wealth.
Let's say we actually redistribute all the wealth all adults have.
The total wealth is around $461 trillion.
And there are around 5.16 billion adults.
So in a redistribution everyone will have around $89,341.08 usd.
So if we were to redistribute wealth then on average people in these countries will lose wealth;
Iceland, Luxembourg,  Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Norway, Japan, Taiwan, Italy, Spain, Qatar.
These adults in these countries wealth don't change significantly;
Malta, Sweden, United States, South Korea, Singapore, Israel, Ireland.
These adults in these countries adults gain wealth;
Finland , Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Germany,  Greece,  Slovakia, Latvia,   Montenegro,   Kuwait,   Estonia,   Cyprus,   Croatia,   Hungary,   Mauritius,   Lithuania,   China,   Lebanon,   Barbados,   Seychelles,   United Arab Emirates,   Czech Republic,   Uruguay,   Bulgaria,   Trinidad and Tobago,   Romania,   Saudi Arabia,   Chile,   Kazakhstan,   Bahrain ,  Albania,  Poland,   Grenada,   Aruba,  Costa Rica,   Bosnia and Herzegovina,   Mexico ,  Tonga ,  Serbia,   Belarus ,  Panama,   Iran ,  Jordan,   Venezuela,   Dominica El Salvador ,  Sri Lanka ,  Brunei,   Oman ,  Turkmenistan,   Moldova,   Armenia,  Thailand,   Saint Lucia,   Malaysia,   Iraq ,  Egypt,   Tunisia,   Bahamas ,  Russia,   Maldives,   Azerbaijan,   Jamaica ,  Fiji,   Gabon,   Equatorial,  Guinea,   Peru,   Samoa,   Ecuador,   Turkey,   Antigua and Barbuda,  Saint Vincent and the Grenadines ,  Namibia,   South Africa ,  Indonesia,   Ukraine,   Vietnam,   Vanuatu,   Colombia,   Guyana ,  Georgia,   Solomon, Islands,   Botswana,   Morocco,   Paraguay,   Bolivia ,  Kenya,   Libya,   Brazil,   Bangladesh,   Nicaragua,   India,   Myanmar,   Argentina,  East Timor ,  Zimbabwe,   Belize,   Ghana,   Mongolia,   Philippines,   Algeria,  Pakistan ,  Kyrgyzstan,   Papua New Guinea,   Cambodia,   São Tomé and Príncipe,   Tajikistan,   Liberia,   Nigeria,   Yemen ,  Ethiopia ,  Senegal,   Tanzania,   Laos,   Suriname,   Nepal,   Comoros,   Rwanda,   Guinea,   Eritrea,   Djibouti,   Angola, Mauritania,   Afghanistan,  Cameroon,   Benin,   Mali ,  Gambia,   Guinea-Bissau,   Uganda,   Zambia,   Madagascar,   Malawi,   Niger,   Syria ,  Burkina,   Faso,   Chad ,  Togo ,  Haiti,   Mozambique,   Congo, DR   Congo,   Burundi ,  Lesotho,   Sierra Leone,   Central African Republic.
How does this relate to population? well 8.05% of adults lose wealth, 6.14% of adults wealth doesn't change, and 85.81% of adults gain wealth.
But how severe is the loss/gain in money?
for the countries which lose money, the average adult's wealth halves. For the richest country Iceland, the average wealth quarters.
for the countries which gain money, the average adult's wealth increases by 7.81 times! In poorest country the Central African Republic, the average wealth increases by 323 times!

Changing one law
Daily writing promptIf you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?View all responses Here we enter into the realm of pure and utter theory, as each and every law is a part of a – hopefully – coherent system of norms that concur making a legal corpus. So, changing just one law is almost absolutely pointless. Yet, as we are speaking of pure theory, here is my idea. Photo by…

Picture, if you will, a Gotham City attorney who specializes in Batman-related cases. They don't do defense for supervillains. But they do civil cases for people and relatives of people who suffer injuries, property damage/loss, death, etc. in Batman-involved incidents. Because they really hate fascists, cops, and billionaires. And they don't know that Bruce Wayne is Batman, but they know someone with a whole lotta money is backing that freak, because of the tech he's sporting. And the fact that some wacko with military-grade hardware and software and spyware is out there just...doling out his own brand of "justice" in the city makes them furious. Yeah, the cops are pretty much useless. Yeah, there are fucking supervillains on the block. But goddamn, yo. Seriously. The city needs to do better, and if the cops and the politicians and everybody else weren't so corrupt, maybe the Batman would GO AWAY, and stop attracting so many supervillains. Maybe if we defunded the police and focused on actually building communities up, there wouldn't be so much crime. Maybe if billionaires like Bruce Wayne got eaten in the streets and wealth got redistributed, the world would be a better place.
But until all that happens, they'll help you sue the shit outta the city because a lamppost fell on your car while Batman was chasing the fucking Penguin and his goons through town again.

Wealth Shown to Scale
This visual walkthrough of just how disgustingly wealthy the 0.001% are blew my mind. Once you can actually start to visualize how much money a billion dollars is, you can fully grasp the fact that nobody can earn or deserve that much wealth.

I will never understand the appeal of period dramas. why are there so many of them. how do people not get tired of watching smarmy, nearly indistinguishable rich people argue very politely in british accents about who's allowed to marry who, over and over and over. these characters don't DO anything, they just sit around in their opulent mansions and gossip about how big mr so-and-so's plantations are and talk shit about anyone who tries to be even remotely happy or interesting or nice. I couldn't see myself wanting to hang around anyone who finds this stuff relatable or even aspirational

On a completely different note, thinking about Halsin's point 'n click line if you have him pickpocket: "Perhaps I missed my calling as a thief," and this other point 'n click sneaking around line: "Unnoticed? *snickers* Good."
And relating those with no good reason to Halsin's snippy observations in Thorm's tomb : "To seal away that which a person no longer needs is to lessen the Oak Father's bounty for all." And "Such hoarding of wealth. A tomb for riches that could be put to better use [...] This gold may never see daylight again while others go cold and hungry."
Because it brings to my silly little mind Halsin getting to a point of frustration where he's yoinking coin pouches from wealthy elites in Baldur's Gate, "accidentally" spilling the coins on the ground for the refugees and children to take - whoops how clumsy of me - and looming over those same elites with an unsettling, even smile asking if there is a problem if they start screeching about thievery.

Stop bailing out the rich and start taxing them.
Tumblr media
The problem is that a good portion of our politicians are in the 1% and why would they vote to tax themselves?
They won’t unless we give them no other option

Elon Musk, listen man, secretly I think you're Really Cool.
It's true. I think you're The Coolest. And you don't need to challenge other billionaires to fights to prove it.
No, the only way to prove it, is to start a Luxury Sun Tourism business. The passengers on your maiden voyage should include yourself, Zuckerberg, and Bezos.
I promise, the entire world will finally think you're cool, once you've successfully launched the three of you into the sun 💖

Capitalism and colonialism took community away from us and I want it back. I’ve heard about it from my grandparents and in books and articles online. All throughout history and still today in some parts of the world. People looking out for each other. Regularly. Relentlessly. Neighbors watching each others children, having enough food to share and actually sharing it, being invested in each others lives because everyone has different strengths.
Today community has been strategically painted as a weakness and something to be skeptical of because it is a threat to the very foundations of capitalism. And that’s a real fucking shame because in reality, growing up with community and still having that through adulthood would probably make most people generally happier and less perpetually tired and stressed. It is renewable resilient versatile adaptable self-sustaining and kind of the Ultimate Resource.

I just wanna say gang that five rich people dying horrible terrifying deaths isn't going to fix wealth inequality and lift up the working class. Cheering for their death will not fix all of our problems, it just makes you kind of sick. It's a waste of human life, wealth and resources and it's a tragedy. You don't have to mourn the lives lost but you should at least recognise how tragic and wasteful and stupid this whole thing is because it will change nothing for anyone except the family of those on that sub.
