Hello! A few writing beans have returned from the war, but the words are still being stubborn. Anywho, have a snippet of you're where I wanna go (prev snippets here)

After three days on the train, Buck is ready to be almost anywhere else. Even if that place has a temperature that’s barely above freezing. He’ll deal with that in exchange for being able to move around for more than a few feet. To breathe crisp fresh air that isn’t tinged with thick, black smoke from a steam engine. 

He tries not to think about Lucy’s meaningful, almost knowing glances as they rolled past miles and miles of wheat fields, through small no name towns. Like she could somehow read his memories. And if she could, how she might see the flashbacks of a younger, more naïve version of himself boarding a different train, ready to discover who he was.  Some days he wonders, if he could go back in time, would he step off that same Philadelphia platform to see where it took him. Would he willingly go, knowing he would never be the same in the best and worst possible ways. The answer, of course, is always yes.  His body vibrates with anticipation as he steps out of the heated car and into a frigid Chicago day. The chill sinks into his skin and lungs, biting at his cheeks as he extends a gloved hand to Lucy. She takes it easily and he hopes they look as natural to the outside world. That nothing in their body language betrays them or causes anyone to suspect otherwise. As if one of the baggage porters or a police officer could sense him fretting internally and instantly recognize them as a fraud.  “You coming, Buckley?” Lucy murmurs, tugging him along.  Buck nods, shaking off his nerves and follows, able to relax slightly when he sees every uniformed employee busy with luggage and passengers. Ultimately it reminds him of their own bags and trunks to account for before checking into their hotel. Ever since he made the reservation, Buck has been excited about staying in The Palmer House hotel. The original, built as a wedding gift from the owner to his new bride, was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire a mere thirteen days after its grand opening. Undeterred, the owner had it rebuilt, ready for the public just two years later. Plenty of new structures have risen since then, but Palmer House is still supposed to be the grandest hotel in the area.

My roommate made a card game!

So, my roommate has been working on a project for a while. I've helped, but it's mostly her thing. She finally took the plunge and hit Publish, so now it's available for purchase! I know I have very little reach, but maybe people will think it's neat and spread the word? Worth a shot!

I'm putting the ad copy below the cut, but the short version is that you're apprentices to a wizard who's asked you to buy materials from the Fairy Markets. They don't deal in coins, they deal in trade, so you have to trade the items you start with and draw for the items you need. Some items can also be used to affect the game, like causing a player to skip a turn or discard a card. You can also buy the favor of one of the Fae to do large effects like sweep the Market and replace it with something new, or grab any one item regardless of cost.

Collect the items from the Lists, turn them in to get points, and the person with the most points at the end wins. Strategic play from simple rules.

Right now, it's available as a "Print on Demand" product for a physical box set. It comes with the card decks, the manual, and the point markers. We're hoping that as word spreads, we can eventually get enough momentum to even get it in physical stores (and printing in bulk would allow us to drop the price, especially after the printer raised the price of On Demand printing last year). We'll also be looking into setting up a Tabletop Simulator version with proper scripting and features and such, but that might be a couple months out.

The Faerie Market opens at dawn. There are many strange and wonderous items to be had in the markets, for a price, and I've instructed other apprentices in the market to trade with you as well. Return to me when you have the items and I shall give you other chores. Continue to serve well and I shall be mightily impressed. Be warned, Time passes strangely in Faerie, and Beware deals with the Fae.

As an apprentice to an absent-minded wizard in town, you've been sent to the strange and wonderous Faerie Markets to do some shopping. Trade for Magical items, use them to gain an advantage, and even make deals with the fairies themselves. Compete with other apprentices to bring back the goods, and beware deals with the Fae.

Fairy Market is a 2-4 player game in which you will trade goods with an ever-changing market, racing to complete lists for the Wizard. Strategize how to get the cards you need, without letting others know what you're after. Play cards to change the market, change your hand or even lock your opponents options, but beware, the market can be unpredictable.

Includes rules for either a lighter game or a more strategic "Timeless Realm" Variation.

CrabBattle! Games is a small group of game developers in Madison WI, with a focus on making games that are simple, with an eye towards Accessibility, and still have un-plumbed depths.

If you ever needed a sign to use too good to go (or any similar app in your region) take this: I have consistently gotten more than a dozen bagels (this time I was smart enough to ask a friend if they'd take half of what I got) from *multiple* bagel places for less than $5.

Today I got I think 15, all savory, but a good spread from egg with salt to whole wheat (possibly a sourdough). The other time I also got cream cheese and even more bagels.

I think today's order was $4.

There's also some grocers that participate, so you can grab a surprise bag and give yourself a food network challenge night. (I keep eyeing a surprise produce bag from one of the markets near where I work, but the pick up times haven't been ideal)

My friend, who I was splitting the bagels with, is vv conscientious about paying her way and I was like "im not going to ask you to give me 2$." And she legit was like "maybe I need to look into the app".

I don't mean to be a shill. I just think that with food prices ever increasing being able to get some tasty bits for cheap is necessary.
