Word count: 1.8k
Pairing: Johnny x Original female character
Genre: Office AU, some angst, light smut
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, Johnny is a bully, heavy sexual themes, non-explicit smut (don't hookup with your coworkers!), uh semi-public sex
A/N: Uhhh I don't know what this is, but it's pretty much self-indulgent lmao
There was nothing quite like early winter in the city, with the twinkling lights tangled in the bare trees and a to-go coffee that was almost too hot. This early in the morning, there was no one around. It was calming, and Nari wanted to appreciate the silence before all hell broke loose. She sat on the unoccupied bench outside of her building, savoring the last five minutes she had until she had to face her worst nightmare. That nightmare happened to have a name: Johnny.
Johnny Suh from Sales. Even thinking about him made Nari’s eye twitch. Ever since she was forced to work with him on her latest project, he made it his sole mission to make her life a living hell. Never once in Nari’s career has she had to work with someone so egotistical, cunning, and above all else: annoyingly attractive.
Although she had been working at her company for the last two years, she had never heard of him. Not until she saw an unfamiliar name CC’d on an email from her boss. Confused, she made her way to her boss’s office.
“He's been here almost as long as you have, I believe,” her boss told her. “Great guy, it should be a breeze working with him.”
It was hilarious how wrong he was. Nari’s reality was most definitely not a breeze, but more like a hurricane. Whatever higher being set this up was surely laughing at her now as she struggled against the powerful storm.
To stand any chance, Nari knew she needed any advice she could get. And who else was more equipped than Jaehyun? After years of working at law firms across the city, Nari was sure he was the only person who could understand how to deal with egotistical monsters.
“I'm just saying, maybe try to avoid any interactions with the guy. I mean he's clearly a prick,” Jaehyun said, then took a sip of his beer.
“Trust me, I've been trying to avoid him but it's impossible when we have to work directly together,” Nari replied.
It was hopeless. Johnny was too smart. Careful not to push it too far, he was only condescending to her face. He made sure his actions spoke for him, though. Like last week when he went out to lunch with their project team, he accidentally forgot to invite her. And just a day ago, she swore he was whispering about her to another coworker in the kitchen. Then he laughed loud enough for Nari to hear, only confirming her suspicions. It was subtle, but enough to make her go insane.
“Don't let him get to you,” Jaehyun offered. “You know he's only doing this because he feels threatened by you.”
Threatened? Why would Johnny be threatened by her? Nothing about her was particularly threatening. Sure, Nari was good at her job but she never did anything that would cause someone to dislike her. And certainly she would never step on anyone just to get a promotion. In her corporate life, Nari made sure to remain honest, social, and professional. Unlike Johnny, who couldn't have a more opposite approach.
“I’ll try,” she replied. “But enough about me. How's it going in your world?”
“Same ol’ bullshit as always,” he chuckled.
They spoke about their jobs for a while longer, laughing at random anecdotes from the week. Nari didn't speak about Johnny again, and shortly the thought of him was washed down along with her Gin and tonic. Somewhere between her first and third drinks, Jaehyun asked her how her dating life had been. It caught her off guard only for a moment as she reached for an answer in her muddled brain. With her thoughts slowed, the best she managed to pull was a horrific yet comical dating story. Jaehyun laughed along with her and shared his own. It was always weird talking about her love life with Jaehyun but it was still nice nonetheless. But she would never get used to it, even though there were no lingering feelings left between them.
Nari came back to her apartment feeling a bit lighter after seeing Jaehyun. While he helped her forget about Johnny momentarily, Nari dreaded tomorrow. It was the day of the company holiday party. Normally Nari looked forward to it every year, but the idea of running into Johnny made her stomach churn. Sure, there were going to be a lot of employees and plus ones but the chance of seeing him wasn't zero.
The next day quickly flew by, with little to no urgent work that needed to get done. Nari always appreciated slow work days, but today she wished the day lasted a bit longer. Because as the moon rose in the sky, she knew could no longer hide.
The rooftop lounge was packed with her coworkers spread out across fancy bar top tables. Nari and a few of her team members claimed a spot close to the bar. While she was promised it would limit any unwanted interactions, the idea of walking up with all eyes on her made her mouth dry.
“I’m gonna get another drink,” Nari shouted on top of the loud music.
Much to her relief, Nari didn't recognize the people she passed on her way to the bar. No Johnny in sight, her shoulders relaxed instantly.
“One Old Fashioned, thanks,” the guy with slicked back hair in front of her ordered. Ugh, what kind of person would order that?
The guy with the slicked back hair turned around, and the moment Nari locked eyes with him she was frozen in place. The worst scenario Nair conjured in her mind was happening right now, in real life.
Johnny looked at her for a second before turning away to talk to his friend. That didn't bother Nari, but the fact that he decided to brush past her like she was invisible set her off.
Chasing after Johnny wasn't how Nari expected to spend her night, but there she was pushing through the crowd. Johnny moved fast, but she was able to catch up in the bathroom hallway.
“Why?” The liquor coursed through her veins, giving her the courage to speak up.
“I don't know what you're talking about,” Johnny deadpanned, as he turned around to look straight through her. It was clear he was avoiding her question, which in turn only made her angrier.
“Don't play dumb, you know what you're doing,” she accused, her voice raising.
“You're going to be a bit more specific than that, sweetheart,” he said, crossing his arms across his chest.
“So you're just going to pretend like you haven't made my life a living hell the last few months?”
“I think that's too harsh,” he answered, his expression softening. That look could've worked on other women, but Nari wasn't going to give in.
“It's the truth, you've hated me ever since that day.”
“When did I say I hated you?”
Jaehyun’s words echoed in her mind. “Admit it, you’re threatened by me.”
Bingo. Her words seemed to strike a nerve with Johnny, because the next thing she knew he grabbed her arm and pulled her into the bathroom. Warning signs went off in her head immediately, but it happened so quickly that she couldn't break away.
“You don't know what you're talking about,” he seethed, taking a step closer to her.
Was he always standing this close? The temperature was rising, and Nari could feel the blood rush into her cheeks.
“I think I do,” Nari breathed, trying to sound confident. But her quivering voice didn't fool him.
His kisses were feverish against her skin he left bites along the curve of her neck. As he made his way down to her collarbone, Nari’s eyebrows scrunched together. With her lips slightly parted in pleasure, Johnny took the opportunity to steal the air from her lungs in one swift motion. His lips were rough and chapped from the cold, but the way they molded to her own left her utterly breathless. When he abruptly bit her lower lip and gazed at her, she knew she was done for. Deep desire pooled in his eyes and her body craved more of the pleasure he brought. Nari knew right then and there that she had no plans of stopping him.
“No, you don't,” he asserted, breaking the kiss for only a second before diving back in.
Her back was flush against the wall now, the cool tile contrasting against the heat of her skin. Johnny held the side of her jaw forcefully, with his other hand tracing the contour of her waistband. Out the window was her moral compass along with her dignity, her judgment clouded with pure desire.
The sensation of his hand dipping lower only added to her bubbling lust. Without warning, he snaked his hand out of her waistband. Nari whined at the loss and Johnny chuckled in amusement.
“Oh?” he mused, his grin never leaving his face. “You don't like that?”
Nari could only shake her head in response, her brain too muddled to think clearly. Satisfied with her frazzled state, Johnny resumed his motions. Her gasps bounced off the bathroom walls as she chased the high, no longer caring who could hear. With each moan that escaped her lips, she began to fall apart. Strands of hair came loose and tears of pleasure pooled. Her release was imminent, but before she could reach the climax Johnny suddenly stopped.
“I'm sorry, did you want more?” he asked, forehead pressed to her own.
Falling from her high, the reality of the situation came back into focus. What the hell was she doing? Not too long ago Nari couldn't even fathom being in the same room as Johnny, let alone letting herself unravel in front of him. It almost sickened her how quickly she folded under his spell. He knew exactly what he was doing and Nari was willingly falling right into his trap.
“Please,” she replied as she tried to catch her breath.
That was all Johnny needed to continue. With her pleasure still heightened, it took Nari only a few minutes to fully come undone. If Johnny wanted, she would let him take her right then and there. All the sirens in her head told her it was wrong, but why did it feel so right?
“See you tomorrow,” he snickered as he pulled away from her. Giving her a quick once over, he left the bathroom without another word.
Left alone with nothing but her reeling thoughts, Nari glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Disheveled hair and smudged mascara. Nari could barely recognize herself. As she attempted to fix her unruly state, Johnny’s words mocked her. Their little affair was going to cost her. She wasn't going to get fired over it, no, but her impulses were going to cost her the little bit of sanity she had left. Johnny was going to take it all and ruin her beyond recognition.

The way you are.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jay Halstead x reader
Wordcount: 2064
Summary: You joined intelligence three months ago as their tech consultant. You've had a crush on Jay since the moment you met and so has he, you just haven't told each other. But, that just might chance when you decide to get a new look.
Warnings: None. I haven't been kind to Adam though...
Note: First and foremost: one of my best friends has helped my out with the plot, so big thanks to her! The story hasn't turned out exactly as I had planned, but I am satisfied with the result. Let me know if you have any feedback!
Also, the reader has glasses, just because main characters usually don't and it fit the story really well. And finally, I've gotten some inspiration from Morgan and Garcia from Criminal Minds, for those like to know.
Story:
Your heart was pounding as you walked towards your desk in the bullpen. You had started working with the intelligence unit in Chicago just three months ago and you loved it. It felt great knowing you helped put criminals behind bars, even though you did it from behind a computer. Your new colleagues had become your family. Kevin had become the brother you always wanted, Hailey and Kim had become two of your best friends and you had even grown fond of Adam, though his flirting sometimes got close to crossing the line. And then there was Jay. It had taken you less than a week to develop a major crush on the tall, muscular soldier, and who could blame you? The man looked like a dream and had a brain like very few others. Unfortunately, you were pretty sure your feelings weren’t reciprocated. Jay had barely looked at you since you started working in intelligence, let alone talked to you. It hurt and no matter how hard you tried to push away your feelings, they just kept popping up. You had tried to talk to Jay, but it was hard, taking the first step, when the object of you affection seemed to want nothing to do with you. On top of that you had never really been a people person, so you decided to just let it be.
Over the last two months you had seen a small part of the man behind the ocean green eyes and the smooth, freckled skin. You noticed how he interacted with his colleagues in the unit, how he tried to make them laugh when he could, tried to protect them if he needed to and cared about them like they were his brothers and sisters. During the nights you accompanied the unit to Molly’s, you noticed the way he treated the first responders he had crossed paths with and people he had never met with the same care and kindness he treated his closest friends. You just wished he would care about you that way.
The only people in the unit who suspected you of having feelings towards the green eyed detective were Kim and Hailey, but you hadn’t admitted anything to them.
There was one person you had admitted it to though. Your sister was one of those people who got overly exited about everything and when you told her you had a crush on one of your colleagues, she looked like she was about to burst out of her skin. You, of course, tried to calm her down by telling her nothing was ever going to happen between you and Jay, but the damage had already been done. If you had let her, your sister would’ve already started planning your and Jay’s wedding, but at that point you had reached your limit and threatened to leave if she didn’t calm down. The rest of the night, the two of you talked about everything but Jay and it was great. Though your sister wouldn’t be herself if, right before you left, she hadn’t offered you give you a fresh, new look to see if that could possibly attract Jay’s attention. Because, while she could be a lot at times, she deeply cared about you and from what you had told her, you deserved someone as good as Jay by your side.
A week ago you had decided you were done pining over Jay, since all it had brought you so far was pain and so, for the past week, you had ignored him, only talking to him if you had to. You needed a fresh start, so you had taken up your sister on her offer to give you a make over, or, in her words, a fresh, new look. That was the reason that your palms were sweating and your heart was trying to hack its way out of your chest. You had exchanged your usual jeans and flannel for an olive green power suit. You wore your hair down instead of in its usual pony tail and even the pair of rose gold glasses you had worn for years had been replaced by a set of contact lenses.
You couldn’t believe you had given your sister permission to do this. The fabric of the power suit itched, your lenses wouldn’t stay in place and the whole outfit made you feel like a pumpkin in a field of spinach. You couldn’t wait to get home and change.
“Hey, Y/N, you look great!” Hailey said. You mumbled a thanks. Kevin whistled and Adam couldn’t help himself: “Ooh, Y/N, looking smoking!” If they hadn’t noticed you were blushing before, they damn sure would now. You felt like your skin was about to melt off your cheeks. You thanked your colleagues for their complements and hid behind your desk in your pile of paperwork as fast as you could.
That morning a new case had come up. The body of a teenager had been found at a waste disposal site. It had become your job to dig into his online world to see if it had anything to do with the reason he had ended up dead. You knew you shouldn’t, but you couldn’t help relating to the victim more and more as you learned more about him. He was a loner in High School, you had been one years ago. He was more comfortable in his online world than his real one, like you. He was a hacker, so were you. At some point, it felt like you were becoming friends with him, even though you would never actually meet him.
A few hours later sergeant Voight came out of his office. “What do we have?” He asked no one and everyone at once. As your colleagues started rambling about everything they’d found, you just stared at the picture on the board. What if that had been you? What if, one day, you hadn’t come home, only for the cops to call your parents and tell them your body had been found? You felt nauseous just thinking about it, though focusing your mind on something that wasn’t yourself or your new look was kind of comforting. You had been on edge all morning because of it and you knew it wouldn’t take much for you to reach your limit.
Suddenly something Jay said, pulled you back to the conversation in front of you. “Why are cases involving hackers always so difficult?” He asked Hailey. “What do you mean?” The blonde asked in return. “Well, normal kids talk to each other. You just have to talk to their friends to get a bunch of leads. Hackers, like this guy, hide everything, so we have to waste a bunch of time looking for leads, before we can actually start investigating.”
The sound of your desk chair hitting the wall got five heads turning your way. You didn’t pay any attention to them and just left.
Jay’s words kept bouncing around in your skull as the tears that had been building up inside you finally found their way to the surface. You walked into the locker room as fast as you could. You made sure the door closed behind you before walking to your locker and taking the little box and bottle of solution for your contacts out.
A few minutes later you heard the door of the locker room opening. Not now, you thought. You were seated on one of the benches, one contact in the box, the other in your eye. Your cheeks were still wet from your tears and you didn’t doubt you had mascara streaks under your eyes. Needless to say, you didn’t exactly look very charming.
Part of you expected it to be either Kim or Hailey, but when you noticed the boots the person was wearing, it became clear it was neither. You looked up. Right into the eyes of the last person you expected to see. “What are you doing here?” You asked, your gaze returning to the stuff in front of you. “I came to check on you. You just flew out of the bullpen faster than Usain Bolt on one of his best days. What happened?” Jay asked as he sat down next to you. “Nothing, I’m fine, you go and… Why won’t these stupid contacts stay in their place?” You groaned. “Take them out.” Jay said, a soft smile on his face. You did as he said. He stood up and walked over to your locker. Returning with the case that contained your glasses, only you couldn’t see that, having taken out your contacts and put them in the box. Jay carefully placed your metal framed glasses on your nose and handed you a tissue. “There she is. Now, what’s gotten you so upset?” Jay asked. You slightly adjusted your glasses and wiped the tear- and mascara streaks off your face. You took a deep breath and let out everything you’d kept from him for the last two months. “Honestly? You are. You’ve barely said a word to me since I started working here and that sucks because you’re also the guy I’ve had a crush on for two months, but obviously you don’t want anything to do with me, so I figured I should get over it so I let my sister give me a new look, but I’ve never worn anything this itchy, these contacts suck and my hair won’t get out of my face. And on top of that what you just said about hackers isn’t true. We are normal, we have friends and once you get to know one of us, our hiding places become obvious.” You were out of breath when you stopped talking, scared to look into Jay’s beautiful green eyes. “I am so sorry. You’re right, I didn’t mean it that way. Calling them “normal kids” was a bad choice of words and I’m sure hackers have friends too. But you know I wasn’t talking about you right? I was talking about the kid whose murder we’re investigating. You’re not him.” Jay told you. “I know, I just used to be a lot like him in High School, but I guess, for me, that’s a long time ago and I’m not that little girl anymore.” You said, realising you may have overreacted a bit. “Yeah, and you’re still here. He’s not. And as for why I didn’t really talk to you, I’ve had a crush on you from the moment you walked into the bullpen. I just got terrified I’d screw things up if I opened my mouth, so I tried to show you how I felt by getting you coffee or cleaning your desk. Hell, I’ve been doing the cleaning lady’s job for her for the past three months.” Jay confessed. Suddenly a bunch of puzzle pieces fell into place. You had found a hot cup of coffee on your desk everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, but somehow never wondered who put it there. You had even noticed your workspace sometimes looked cleaner than the others, but you just figured the cleaning lady started with your desk and therefore had less energy when she reached the others.
Jay’s voice was still bouncing around your skull, only now saying the words: I’ve had a crush on you. You couldn’t think rationally anymore so you did the only thing you could think of. You kissed him. As your hands found their way into his hair, his arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer. You pulled back when you heard the bottle of contact solution fall on the ground. Jay let go of you and picked it up. You felt a shiver run down your spine. Had it been this cold this entire time? Jay looked at you and then noticed your jacket. It was discarded on the ground in front of your locker. He stood up and seconds later you felt a piece of fabric covering your shoulders. It was a flannel. It was his flannel. He sat back in front of you and cupped your face, looking into your eyes. “And Y/N, while you did look incredibly hot in that power suit, you look just as good in jeans and even in a garbage bag for all I care. You are beautiful, just the way you are.”

:Requested: ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Actor's Manager ˎˊ˗
- Ahh it's finally done !1! I didn't post that frequently because I'm being a good student... For now.
˗ˏˋ 𝙰𝚗𝚐𝚜𝚝 𝚃𝚘 𝚂𝚖𝚞𝚝 ˎˊ˗
"Cut!" a shout was heard from the assistant director "Alright! That's all for today! Comeback on Monday!"
Leon stretched his arms groaning. He's tired and wants to sleep. He was having difficulty from the script because it wasn't that organized and some of the words he had to pronounce was hard. Sighing, he look around to find his manager which is you.
Seeing you talking to the Assistant Director "Yeah, I think we need to-" "Did...I did great?" hearing his voice you turned to your side. He was wearing a brown coat for his character which was kinda damn hot. "Y-yeah, you always do...A-anyways! I'll talk to you later Lacey" Lacey, your best friend which was the assistant director. She was the only one who knows about your relationship, for the past 7 years she still didn't ditch on the both of you. She nodded and giggled, walking away and went somewhere else. "Oh, Really? That's the 40th time you said that" he chuckled while fixing his messy hair. You always notice his mistakes but he'll always manages to make it right. He didn't even care when you keep telling him to back out because he wasn't capable at some scenes... That only makes him laugh, get ready to get mind-blowing because oh he'll do it. He doesn't care if explosions are included.
"Y/n! You got a message from one of the Talk shows!" the both of you heard Rebecca's voice. Last month, Leon got his first Oscar. Both of you got interviewed a lot on talk shows. Topics about the movie, life and other. "Well... I don't have any schedules today so... Might as well go!" you know how Leon gets quiet on talk shows and you do all the answers. He doesn't really mind going as long your going with him. "Yea, sure. I'm just hoping it won't take long"
.
"Today's guest are none other than... Leon Kennedy and Y/n L/n!" the audience clapped with their hands and some of them screaming not that loud. Both of you walking towards the stage, waving at the audience. The both of your greeted the audience and the host. Sitting down at the couch next to where the host is. "Well if it isn't the iconic duo" the host laughed. 'Iconic duo', that nickname was made when some of your fans saw some pictures of you two hanging out every day and always seemed to be not separate able. "How you two doin'?" the host asked. You smiled "Oh were doing great! How about you?" you asked the host nicely. Leon isn't really a fan of getting interviewed, so expect him to be quiet. "I'm doing great too! Thank you for asking but... Is Leon alright there?" the host then focused on Leon who's seems to be staring of to space. You nudge his shoulder "oh- what- ... Ah... Sorry, I've been really hella tired from the making of the movie" the host then let out a frown "Oh... Really? Shoot, I didn't know you two were still on work... I'm really sorry if i bothe-" "No, no, no! It's okay! Were on a break anyways!" You apologized to him and then turned to Leon glaring at him but, he only let out a chuckle. "Oh... Is that so? Well, alright then! So, uhmm, let's start first with some questions from your fans" Oh god- this isn't good. Look, some of you fans have been asking really weird questions! "Alrighty, the first question is for... Leon!" You sighed in relief but also nervous about the question for Leon. Leon then turned his head towards the host waiting for the question "Leon, are You and Ada are in a relationship?" Suddenly the audience started to clap, scream and some of them getting flustered. Leon didn't really react about it. The audience didn't seem to notice the sad expression on your face. Your relationship between Leon has been in private for more than a year...
"Ada? Ada Wong? Pfft, no. She isn't my woman, you can see the both of us interacting in every scene of the movie but that doesn't mean we're dating. She hates me and I'm not her type" Leon wants to get this over with, he can see your face in a sad expression. Some of the audience frowned at his answer. You tried to laugh so it wouldn't be obvious that your saddened. You couldn't handle it anymore... You want your relationship to be public! But your sure there'll be something going bad to happen.
After the interview was done, finally the both of you can rest and have some alone time in your shared apartment. You sat on the couch with your head low. "Dinner should be done in... 6 minutes" Leon said, wiping his wet hands onto the handkerchief. He then saw you sitting ln the couch, your face in a sad expression "Hey? Everything okay?" walking towards you, he then sat besides you and put his hand on your shoulder "Hey, talk to me..." You turned your head to look at him. "We... We should stop this..." Your hands were shaking and your eyes almost filled with tears. Leon got confused on what your saying "w-what? What are you talking about?" " I m-mean... that we should end our relationship!" now tears were rolling down your cheek. Leon's eyes widen, confused "End it? W-why? Did I do something wrong? Tell me! and I'll fix it! I p-promise!" He begged. What were you saying? Why end it? Did he do something wrong? "Y/n... Please give me a reason?" He said, holding the both of your shaking hands in his. "I want our relationship to be known! I'm sick of everybody thinking that You and Ada are in a relationship which isn't true! But... Everyone can possibly hate me, them expecting that it should be Ada your dating not me-" you tried to talk but Leon interrupted you by putting his lips onto yours. He doesn't want any negative sentence coming from your mouth. His hand reaching up to your cheek caressing it. After that kiss, you couldn't help but kiss him again. The worries were disappearing, wrapping your arms around his neck. You pulled away from the kiss to catch a breath and admire him. A yelp then came out from your mouth when he suddenly picked you up, bridal style "Let's continue this to the bedroom" you giggled.
Throwing you to the bed. Leon undressing himself and his clothes placed somewhere else. He slowly crawl towards you with his eyes lock onto yours. "Let me take care of you..." He said, he was now on top of you. His head dip down to your neck kissing it making you moan. "Open your legs for me pretty... Let me show that your way better than that Ada" and so, you did. Your legs open just for him. His hand slowly pulling down your short pants, the cold air making contact to your skin. "Oh~? What's this?" You feel his fingers touching the sides of your panties "Isn't this the panties that i bought you~?" You immediately nodded, he chuckled and got even more horny than ever. You look beautiful and hot wearing it <3 maybe he should take a picture? "It's just for you L-leon..." You whispered. He smiled, of course it was just for him. "It is... I'm going to make you scream my name over and over again..." This... Is going to be a longgg night.
Falling down from the bed. The sound of Heavy breathes filling up the room. "Your killing me woman..." He joked, looking at you at his side still breathing heavily. "Did I go too hard on you?" Gosh, you love his aftercare's... It makes your heart feel warmer than ever. You shook your head "You know how I love it when you go rough" you tease him making him chuckle. You then felt him shuffle from the bed, looking to your right he seems to be getting something from the night stand. "Leon? What's that?" you ask him but he didn't respond but continue to search something from the night stand. "Leon?" He was holding something... It's a small red box- wait- He then turned around to you still laying at the bed. "Y/n... We've been together for more than 5 years an I enjoyed it so much. You mean so much to me. Your the last thing that I want to lose... I'd look forward to every little surprise and laughter I can give you. I love you so much Y/n, will you mary me?" Your heart was beating fast, and tears slowly starts to pour down to your cheeks... You don't know what to do... But can only let out a 'Yes!'. Letting him touch your fingers, he slid the ring to your index finger. You couldn't help but launch yourself to him hugging his naked body. "Woah, thare!" He laughed and that made you laugh too. He wrap his arms around your waist, his next mission was to plan the marriage.
PLEASEEEEEEE I HAVEN'T POSTED FOR A WEEK DKBAOBBQ.

Are there any mangas or anime you really enjoy?
Yes!!! :D here are just a few I especially love:
✧ Summertime Render - I LOVE THIS ANIME/MANGA OMG...... I cannot hype it enough. The plot and its twists had me at the edge of my seat throughout. All of the characters have such strong personalities, the villains are really well done, the mystery and action are executed wonderfully, the pacing is great, the setting is amazing, the ost scratches my brain!!! In short, everything about this series is 10/10 for me.
✧ Great Pretender - another series I love to pieces! The backgrounds are so aesthetically pleasing,,, uuuwaaaa. The characters are so memorable, and the plots for each individual con are amazing. I'm left breathless every time because somehow the stakes just keep raising. It's so good!!!!! The opening song is also such a banger?!?!!??!! orz I could listen to it forever.
✧ THEO by Aono Nachi - it's such a cute BL. 🥺 I loved the dynamic between Theo and Rei. Maybe it's because I'm weak to master-servant dynamics, but then I also like how emotional their romance is and how stubborn Rei is. It was really wonderful!!
✧ Marriage to the Wolf by Inui Hana - another lovely BL!! I adored the dynamic between Kaede and Ren. The way they couldn't stand each other in the beginning..... slowly growing closer and softening to each other. The way they're both doing things out of obligation at first because it's an arranged marriage and the fact that Ren is holding back for Kaede's sake...... THEIR BANTER!!!!!! orz orz
✧ Devilman Crybaby (the netflix adaptation) - THIS SHOW. It hurts me every time I watch it. The ost is a banger, the art style is amazing, the way I cried ugly the first time I watched it. The "why am I the only one speaking, Akira?" haunts me to this day. I highly recommend it.
✧ ODDTAXI - the plot and the twist omg!!!!!! And the mystery!!!!! I may be biased because Riddle's VA voices Odokawa and I love anything that Natsuki Hanae does!! His work is always outstanding. The opening is also another banger. I can't say much without spoiling something major, but I highly recommend this anime. It's definitely worth the watch!!!
✧ The Disastrous Life of Saiki K - Saiki K my beloved. It always manages to make me laugh. I love Saiki's character. He's so funny, as is the rest of the cast. Kaidou never fails to make me laugh, especially in the dub. He's so silly. I think about "drowning in inch-deep water isn't easy" every day LOL.
✧ Romantic Killer - AAAAA I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!! Maybe it's because Anzu is such a relatable female lead to me (but also because Riddle and Leona's VAs voice two of the main love interests hehe). It's so fun! It also handles the serious aspects of its plot really well. I loved Anzu's dynamic with Riri.
✧ Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess - it's been a moment since I've caught up with this manhwa, but I love it!!! The characters are all really striking. Most of all, I really like Penelope's character!!! <3 she's such a strong female lead. I like her interactions with all of the characters.
✧ Toilet-bound Hanako-kun - this manga is everything to me!!!! I absolutely adore the plot and its characters. Hanako and Yashiro's dynamic is really cute. :D I forgot what chapter I left off on, but I remember it left me in shambles. T^T

Winter 2024- What I Finished
So as this anime season is coming to an end. Here are the shows I actually kept up with and overall enjoyed immensely.
There will be spoilers so be warned lol
The Unwanted Undead Adventurer
Tumblr media
I have enjoyed this series, the way Rentt is so determined to become a mithril-class adventurer even as an undead. The 3D models for the fight scenes move pretty well with the background matching them, especially in episode 9. This series is a slow-burn, even with the story progression, but I appreciate it because we see so much character growth for Rentt and how he interacts with the people and his friends. The music is fairly average for the series, but it does have some good moments especially when Rentt is in thought or making a choice. I loved coming full circle and him regaining his "human" features even though he still is very much a vampire now. Shun Narita, the composer for the series had some standout moments (fight scenes and contemplativeness) of music throughout the season so hats off to him.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic
Tumblr media
I fell in love with the humor of this series from the get-go and not a single episode is a disappointment. It is so full of life and this past week for episode 11, the line " Now that's the wrong way to use healing magic" was used in a perfect moment. The lead up of Usato's characters growth and seeing all his hard work and "torture" from Commander Rose's training *actually* matter was brilliant. Element Garden has done a great job with the music that just gets your blood pumping. Probably will make a separate post for this series once it's over.
A Sign of Affection
Tumblr media
The shoujo everyone is talking about, FOR GOOD REASON. To see the romance between the leads develop was so satisfying and wholesome. The development of the side characters so far is handled well, and at times the flashbacks scenes take over an episode but they are necessary. The art style and the use of lighting are done so well. It was a very cute show and always will love seeing an adult romance.
Solo Leveling
Tumblr media
What can I say that hasn't been said already? I started reading the manwha in 2019 and have reread many times since. Hiroyuki Sawano was a great choice and the soundtrack WILL be on loop once it's released fully. Smart pacing choices to have it end with him gaining a job, this week will be a blast of an episode. Wish it had been slotted for 24 episodes... The last two episodes KILLED it, the animation, the music?! I was on cloud nine.
Mr. Villains Day Off
Tumblr media
A perfect wholesome background anime, that is just about a Villian who loves pandas on his days off. The episodes where they focus on the Rangers aren't super interesting and makes you question the ethics of the world? It's a very cute show and sometimes, it's just a need in life. Ending was split between resolving the previous episode and the lead up to the Rangers and the Villian's battle.
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord
Tumblr media
The Isekai'd into an Otome game genre is SO saturated but somehow I ended up loving this show. Yumielle is so autistic coded and straightforward, no one quite knows how to react to her. Patrick is head over heels for her, not that she ever notices, and they're dynamic is adorable. I have laughed watching this show and the only reincarnation anime that didn't bog me down with guessable plot.
Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!
Tumblr media
I fell so hard for this anime that I binge read the manga...who's art is definitely butchered in the adaption, it's so wholesome but the way episode 11 ends off MY GOD the miscommunication hurts me, and people will definitely riot watching the finale...and then picking up the manga to suffer for 40 chapters...BUT it's worth it. Tsubasa and Fuyuki all the way, they're chemistry is the best in the show as they each influence each other to open up, to be serious about the future and to help themselves grow as people. So sad to see this show go but maybe we'll get another season?
Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Tumblr media
This anime has me kicking my feet in joy and makes me miss my long-distance partner so fucking much. When Kurosawa and Adachi kissed? I was whooping in happiness. Adachi has a lot of room to grow with his communication with Kurosawa but pretty sure the final manga cover is a wedding outfit? My poor notes app I use to write my thoughts/observations as I watch seasonal anime is " SO GAY. KISS PLEASE." for several episodes between them. I loved that the end credits was the wedding but I can't wait to read the manga to compare it!
Gushing Over Magical Girls
Tumblr media
I'm not one to watch ecchi shows but this, THIS is just such a delight to watch. Utena is such a loveable protagonist, a magical girl loving person who gets turned into a villain and has to "fight" the girls she loves. By fighting its not LMAO. I adore all the characters in this show and how fresh the writing for them is. Its beautifully animated and the finale was so much fun to watch!
Mashle S2 - Divine Visionary Arc
Tumblr media
I picked up the first volume at the bookstore halfway through the season to try reading, after Bling-Bang-Bang-Born blew up, and I was not disappointed. Binged Season 1 and caught up in a day. There's just something so satisfying with gag humor and shounen fight scenes. I love everyone (besides for Innocent Zero, fuck that guy) and will for sure be binge reading the manga. The music, as always, is so hype and having rap for the fight scenes is very interesting. The soundtrack for S2 just released yesterday and has some amazing tracks on it.
Shangria-La Frontier
Tumblr media
What. An. Amazing. Show. Never thought I'd like a VR Gaming anime as much as I do now, but this was just so vibrant and humorous. Sunraku's tenacity at gaming and taking on challenges, plus my love for rogue/assassin builds from DND, made him such a likeable character. The entire Weathermon fight to be slotted for 4 episodes was just..gorgeous and stunning. The Music?!? God its perfection. The NPC's of Rabitzu... to have characters and just to not be weird was very much appreciated to me. I sincerely wish it had the fandom that other Fall 2023 shows, cough cough Frieren, Undead Unluck and Apothecary Diaries, has because I just want more merch sobs. The cosplans I have for this show? Too many, and its already in production for another 2 cour season for this fall!!
The Apothecary Diaries
Tumblr media
What a spectacular show and fabulous 24 episodes. The animation, the music (Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Pinken, Alisa Okehazma), the characters, the backgrounds?! I enjoyed watching the characters interact and loved the humor in the animation. I also just read and caught up with the manga in 2 days...so it's that good and a worthwhile watch and read!

I See You - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hangman x Phoenix
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: enemies to lovers (not yet tho), slow burn, slight swearing, for sure some military inaccuracies, third person POV
Summary: Phoenix hates Hangman's guts. But she cares about her friends more, and Hangman is making her best friend miserable. About a month ago, Hangman started picking on Bob again. No one knows why he started his jeering up again, but Phoenix is willing to pay anything to make it stop. But what happens when that price is a date? And what happens when it turns out that Jake Seresin actually isn't the worst company?
A/N: I had the idea for this fic after I saw a fanfic quote prompt somewhere: "I brought you a juice." (I can't find the user it was from, but if you do please let me know so I can credit them!) From there I wrote a cute little Hangman x reader incorrect Top Gun quote post, but I realized it was such a Hangman x Phoenix interaction so Jabber and I collaborated over some ideas and this baby was born!
This story is written fully in 3rd person, so omnipotent narrator who reads the other characters minds occasionally, but it takes place mostly from Phoenix’s POV.
Also I may have completely made up correction sensors, but they’re based off whatever targeting system that malfunctions during the “mission” in the movie. They never get mentioned again, please leave them alone. They are sensitive and valid.
Chapter Song(s): Mean, NO, CHOKE
****
"That’s a kill!" Bob’s excited voice came crackling through the radio in the Daggers’ break room.
The room erupted with cheers. No one had been able to down Hangman in this week’s exercises on targeting without the correction sensors so far, but Bob’s quick thinking and steady hand had finally done it. Hangman’s gloating would be replaced by cheers of Bob’s name that day in the lockers. A welcome reprieve.
Back in the air, Phoenix was pumping her fists in the air and flipping off an unknowing Hangman. "Suck it, Bagman! We got your butt good!" the aviator called through the radio. "That’s how we do it over here with the smoothest duo in the Daggers! Great job, Bob! MVP of the exercise for sure.”
The shy backseater blushed lightly beneath his oxygen mask. He still got flustered over the smallest compliments, no matter how many times his supportive squad mates clapped him on the back or clasped his shoulders singing his praises. He stumbled over his words as he squinted against the sun in his eyes, making getting the words out even harder, "I, uh, you—you basically lined up the shot for me, Phoenix, I just pressed the button."
"Nah, that was all you, Bob. Don’t sell yourself short." Phoenix insisted proudly.
"No, please do sell yourself short, Baby," Hangman interjected with a laugh, the cockiness and resentment were practically dripping from his voice, even through the radio.
"Please go screw yourself, Bagman," Phoenix spat back. "Ignore him, Bob, you did amazing."
"It’s okay, Phoenix; he’s just joking." Bob said, always trying to keep the peace, especially between Phoenix and Hangman. Bob was getting pretty good at standing up for himself, but the two of them always seemed to be at each other’s throats and Bob found that he was usually, unintentionally, the reason.
"I wasn’t, actually," Hangman quipped again.
Phoenix’s blood was about to boil; if it wasn’t likely to get both her and Bob a court martial, she’d dive on the cocky blond's plane just to give him a good scare. Instead, she settled for some "playful" verbal abuse.
"Bagman, everything everyone says behind your back is true."
"Was that meant to hurt my feelings, Phoenix?"
"I swear the only reason they let you fly solo is because your WSO would purposely sabotage you both just to get some damn peace."
"Oh, really? That the best you got?" Hangman taunted.
The breezy jovial feeling that had filled the air of the jet just moments before had gone stale, and instead a thick layer of smog-like anger had fallen over the aircraft cockpit. The temperature within had surely gone up by at least a few degrees with all the red hot words flying from Phoenix's mouth into her mic.
Bob's cheeks glowed to a flaming red as he listened to the two pilots bickering, entire body tense, helpless to remove himself from the mid-air argument, just waiting for the right moment to interject. He’d been in this situation many times before—he knew the drill. But that didn't make him any less uncomfortable. "Okay, c’mon, guys—" he began timidly, yet a level of assertion still came through in his voice.
"Great work, aviators!" Mav’s voice came like a shock over the radio, squashing the argument before it could manage to turn physical. No student had died on Mav's watch so far, and he wasn't looking to change that any time soon. Especially because 'purposeful collision due to mid-flight training disagreement' would not go over well on an accident report. "Let’s get these birds back on the ground. It’s quitin' time!"
--
Steam filled the empty locker room. Phoenix breathed deeply as she stepped out of the shower. She always felt like she had gained a new life after her shower at the end of each day; the amount of sweat produced under those flight suits was ungodly. She also liked to imagine that the boiling water was washing away all the boys’ BS that she had gone through that day. She loved, almost, all of them—though she’d never tell them that—but being the only girl on a team of men, Navy men, was rough. She was sure at least two of them truly were raised in a barn, and she knew Bob and Rooster were the only ones who even knew what the word "filter" meant.
She thought on her boys fondly, unable to hold back her smile, as she toweled off her hair behind the emotional privacy of the her locker door. She'd never dare show this side to them. This was still the military, after all, and she was still a woman. No matter how many times she proved herself tougher than the men around her, her and soft emotions were not allowed to coexist without ridicule. Wiping the condensation off of the mirror, she looked at her own face in the tinny glass, it had been hardened over her time in the Navy, and it reminded her of the look of rage on Hangman’s as they clambered back into the hanger. She laughed lightly. That was without a doubt the best thing she’d seen in weeks. She wished she could’ve had it photographed so she could look at it when she was having a bad day.
She didn’t truly hate the cocky pilot, but she had been nearing the line between it and mere distaste with his recent antics. After their first mission together, it had seemed like all grudges between any of the Daggers had been squashed; Hangman and Bob had been fully civil up until a couple weeks ago when Hangman decided to make the younger pilot his verbal target practice. Everyone had noticed the shift, but no one could tell exactly what triggered it. Bob had finally started to stand up for himself in the past couple days, which Phoenix was thankful for because any time anyone else said anything to Hangman, the treatment just got worse. It needed to end, and soon. Phoenix was ready to string Hangman up, but she knew acting out would only risk getting both her and Bob disciplined. She didn’t know what she was going to do. But she was sure as hell going to do something.
She finished getting ready to head home and slung her backpack over her shoulder. She tossed her hair into a loose bun as she walked out of the lockers, preparing to face the scorching heat already constantly present even this early into the California summer. Fanboy intercepted her in the hall outside the locker rooms. His face immediately told her that whatever he was about to say wasn’t another corny joke about his favorite tv series.
"There’s something you should know," he said.
--
"BAGMAN!"
Lt. Jake "Hangman" Seresin might not have finished at the very top of his classes, but he was smart enough to know that that yell could only mean one thing: he was about to get the chew out of a lifetime from one Lt. Natasha "Phoenix" Trace. He pulled his signature toothpick out of his mouth before turning on his heel to see the livid brunette storming down the hall, fire ablaze in her eyes.
If anyone else had been in the vicinity, they would've sworn they felt the temperature shift.
"What the hell, Hangman?" Phoenix barked, shoving a hand roughly into his chest, and sending the unprepared man stumbling back a couple steps with an unsophisticated mix between a "WOAH!" and "HEY!"
"What do you mean ‘what the hell'?" Hangman shot back, gathering himself and stepping forward, squaring his broad shoulders towards her. "You can't just attack a man without telling him what he did to provoke it."
Phoenix's face was now inches from his. Hangman could feel the rage on the heat of her breath.
"Watch me," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "Don't even start that crap with me. You know full well what you did."
"Humor me." Hangman said with the same tone he would have used in a casual conversation with a friend, which this situation very much was not.
There was finger in his face. He pretended there wasn't, looking past it directly into Phoenix's face.
"I am so fed up with your immature little grudge against, Bob."
"I didn't know I ever had one."
Hangman's tone was aloof, and it drove Phoenix crazy. How could he be such a prick? All she wanted to do was punch him in the jaw. She didn’t know why she always felt like she was about to explode with Hangman, no one else made it so difficult for her to keep her emotions in check, but she held it together—this time. She wasn't going to make herself any promises for the future.
"You two were supposed to be cool after the mission, I thought you had agreed to lay off him! I don't know who you think you are, but Bob is just as, if not more, qualified as any of us to be here. And you know it! But your fragile little ego just can't take that he's smarter than you, can it?" She practically spat the last words, ensuring they hit Hangman square in the face.
Phoenix saw his eyes soften for just a second and knew that she'd hit a nerve, but his expression didn’t change. He just continued to look at her with that same stupid, smug expression he always wore.
"And I have laid off him. He's not my concern any longer." He shrugged, popped the toothpick he'd been holding back into his mouth, and started to turn away. Phoenix forcefully grabbed his arm.
Her grip was stronger than Hangman assumed it would be.
"Really? 'Cause that's not what it looked like to Fanboy when he saw you corner him in the lockers after that last flying exercise. He said you looked ready to throttle Bob before he stepped in. That's low, even for you. We got you fair and square in that exercise. If you don't want to lose, try not making stupid mistakes. And one more thing," Phoenix said, leaning into Hangman's face, fists clenched so tightly at her sides they were pure red. "If you ever try taking your sore loss out on Bob again, we will be having a very different conversation that will not be much of a conversation at all."
"Is that a threat, Trace?" Hangman said coolly, a smirk on his face.
"It's a promise," Phoenix snapped, pushing past him forcefully, her shoulder smacking into his.
Hangman dropped his head and laughed, his tongue twirling the toothpick in his mouth. Head still lowered, he called after the receding footsteps, "Wow, I didn't know you had a heart, but since you clearly care so much about him, I'll leave Bob alone."
The footsteps stopped. Hangman turned to face them, shaking his head lightly.
"But it's gonna cost you."
Phoenix cocked one eyebrow in an ‘I knew this was coming' fashion.
"Really?" She said, crossing her arms over her chest, taking a step closer.
"Really." Hangman shot back joyfully, also taking a step closer. He was clearly enjoying this.
"Fine. I'll bite. What's your price?"
"Go on a date with me."
Phoenix scoffed, staring at him agape as if she hadn't heard him correctly or refused to believe he'd actually said what she thought he said.
"That's the worst joke you've ever made, Bagman, and you've made a lot of bad jokes." She scoffed again as she turned and continued toward the exit.
"Maybe because it wasn't a joke." There wasn't a drop of sarcasm in his voice.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," said Phoenix, turning back to him again.
"You want me to leave Bob alone? That's my price. One date, and we'll never have this issue again. I promise." He held up three fingers in a "scouts honor" kind of way.
"You’re insufferable, Bagman," Phoenix said. With that, she turned and walked down the hallway, silently fuming.

For the fanfic asks: 6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time? and 18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?
Fanfic asks
Must admit, I was excited to see you sent in an ask! XD But in answer to your questions:
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
There's quite a few so buckle up:
it was all a dream, i just called to say, and in law out(ing) by @canariie: her writing is beautiful, her plots are offer many sweet and homely moments, and they all feature my OTP. The first was a request form me and I love the direction to she took it, giving Toshiro and Momo a soft moment where they're both scared but then turning it into a moment Toshiro can express how he truly feels. The second is beautiful from start to finish, giving us an interaction between two like-minded individuals who have been through a lot and would probably benefit from meeting each other in canon; also the last third is just so good for a Hitsuhina fan! The last is just great fun, and I love seeing Shinji and Toshiro interact like this (it also gave us #letshinjifish2k23, what's not to love?!) If for some reason you haven't read these fics (or any of her fics for that matter) and you're a hitsuhina fan, read them after this post!
Bleach Returns day 3: A Time to Celebrate by @recurring-polynya: yeah that's right, I go back and read this fic of yours! It's one of the most humorous fics I've read, and it never fails to make me smile. I love all the characters' banter with each other, it feels organic and it's awesome to see some character interact with each other (seriously, I never thought I'd want to see Chad interact with Rangiku and Toshiro, but here we are). I've been meaning to read your submission for this year's BLEACH Anime Celebration too, but I'm sure I'll love it!
a cacophny in stillness by @visionen-im-spiegel: I mentioned it in my last ask response, but there's just something about this fic. I love to come back and reread it as a whole, but there's just certain sections I read it for. I love in the last chapter where Momo finds Toshiro, and there's that shock of seeing him at first, but more than that, there's relief that the war is all finally over, and they have each other in that moment of realisation.
the warmest place in the world by @pinkhairedlily: this is such a fluffy read! I love snippet of the hitsuhina married life here, it feels authentic and organic. I always laugh at the drunk Toshiro scene, the poor guy forgets he finally married Momo! XD
D O N K I and Away, Away by @bleachbleachbleach: I've said many thinks about their writing, and I cannot praise them enough. These two fics in particular hit me though. Again, a little biased here, but the first was written as a request from me, but like with canariie, it got taken in a direction I didn't see coming but absolutely loved. Toshiro and Orihime interactions are always a 10/10 for me, they're a soft friendship that needs to explored more. And this fic even got me to care about the weird unspoken side characters in Orihime's neighbourhood! Away, Away holds a special place for me, as it was the first fic I read from bleachbleachbleach, I come back to it because I still marvel at the world building, the atmosphere throughout, and the character interactions being so on point.
18. What's one of your favorite lines you've written in a fic?
There's more than one line here, but I feels it needs context for me to explain why it's one of my faves. This one is from On the Shoreline:
“I-I didn’t understand why you were becoming so distant, I thought getting away from the Soul Society would help, but now I think I know. Are you…?” She’s conflicted, her lips opening to continuing her question, only to close seconds later and becoming a taut, pressed line. He’d wanted to tell her what was on his mind, but not like this. To his own ear, he’s ended up both paranoid and like a child complaining about something not going his way. He's upset her. Toshiro sighs, suddenly more tired than before. “What is it?” She still hesitates, her focus on the waves circling his ankles. Eventually, she raises her head and steps closer. “Are you scared?” It hits him in the chest like a stone thrown into glass. For a second, his blood runs tight and cold in his limbs. His heart skips a beat, then clenches. He can feel hairline fractures running through him, threatening to break apart.
I still can't forget how long I sat there trying to come up with a line to emphasis the impact this question has on Toshiro. This was the moment in the story where he finally breaks down more or less, and finally tells Momo what's been going on for him. He's been keeping his walls up, but they aren't strong ones; he's at a point where they're being worn down and he's barely making it through this trip, and Momo's concern, her insight into who he is and how he's feeling, finally breaks them down completely.
It might be a corny or cliched line, but love how it turned out in the grant scheme of the story. Her question hit him hard, and finally got him to open up to her when he's been the exact opposite for most of the fic.
Thanks so much for sending these in! :D

If it’s not too much to ask, could you provide a rundown of Mario and Peach’s relationship throughout the history of the games — any developer insights and supporting material included if applicable? Their interactions have never failed to make me smile; I feel like every moment between them, no matter how simple, elevate my enjoyment of the games.
Do you have a favorite moment? For me, I think the ending of the first Paper Mario is my definitive Mario and Peach moment. Everything from the music to the scenery to how innocent it plays out perfectly encapsulates their relationship.
While other series, like Splatoon or The Legend of Zelda tend to have a greater focus on their worldbuilding and backstory, I think Mario’s greatest strength when it comes to its lore is its rich characters and how their relationships come together. You don’t follow the same main cast in The Legend of Zelda for more than a game or two at a time. With Mario, well - he’s always the same Mario. He’s familiar, and his personality is so strong that he continues to be the Mario we know, no matter the medium. It seems that Mario’s current primary developers, Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kenta Motokura, feel the same way:
"No matter what worlds he takes on, Mario remains Mario. Maybe this is strange but I find that fact very comforting,"
[Source: Yoshiaki Koizumi, Director and Producer of the Super Mario series, CNN Business, September 2020]
“…you can take Mario, or a Mario franchise character, and put them in pretty much any situation and it makes it okay. […] Mario carries it off.”
[Source: Kenta Motokura, Designer and Director of the Super Mario series, GameInformer, June 2017]
“Mario himself is a very strong character, so wherever he is he is strong enough to stand alone and be a good character. And even if he's next to a dinosaur, he's Mario!”
[Source: Kenta Motokura, Designer and Director of the Super Mario series, Metro, June 2017]
That’s not to say that Mario doesn’t have quite in-depth worldbuilding and backstory as well, but I think these characters are greatly understood by the people who work with them while largely being overlooked, misunderstood or written off by fans.
This is why relationships, like the one shared between Mario and Peach, can be such a highlight for players.
Mario and Peach, while not explicitly dating, are absolutely smitten with each other.
Tumblr media
In fact, it seems that Mario instantly fell in love with Peach the moment he saw her, when she kissed him in Super Mario Bros.. Mario was so in love with Princess Peach that, according to the team behind Donkey Kong (Game Boy), it’s what caused Mario to break up with Pauline:
“Apparently the land of mushrooms is somehow in the vicinity of Donkey Kong's stomping ground that appears at the end [of Donkey Kong (Game Boy)]. Around that point, he meets Peach, and probably starts to have a change of heart [about Pauline] (laughs).”
[Source: Shigeru Miyamoto, Producer of Donkey Kong (Game Boy), Game Boy Donkey Kong Wonder Life Special - APE Inc. Official Nintendo Guide, June 1994]
“After that, Mario became famous, so Pauline must have gotten dumped (laughs).”
[Source: Masayuki Kameyama, Director of Donkey Kong (Game Boy), Game Boy Donkey Kong Wonder Life Special - APE Inc. Official Nintendo Guide, June 1994]
Paper Mario in its entirety is certainly a great example of Mario and Peach’s relationship. While the ending where they watch the fireworks is a highlight, the intro also showcases her attempts to spend time with Mario, eagerly awaiting him in the upper parts of the castle and wanting him to accompany her to the balcony.
“Oh! By the way, Princess Peach has been waiting for you.”
[Source: A Green Toad Girl, Staff of Princess Peach’s Castle, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
“I think Princess Peach has been looking forward to seeing you since this morning, Mario. She's been restless... hee hee hee... How cute...”
[Source: A Pink Toad Girl, Staff of Princess Peach’s Castle, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
“Oh, Mario! You came to the party to see me! You're so sweet! Thank you!♥ I was just resting a bit. It gets tiring, greeting all those guests out there! Nobody will bother us here. Shall we relax and chat, just the two of us? It was a lovely day today, so I'm sure it's comfortable out on the balcony right now. Would you accompany me, Mario?”
[Source: Princess Peach, Ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
She gets worried about him while she’s kidnapped:
“I wonder what Mario is doing right now... I wonder if he's hurt... I'm so worried about him!”
[Source: Princess Peach, Ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
Later on, we even learn that Princess Peach keeps a photo of Mario beside her bed, which she reacts to with a heart emoticon:
“A photo of Mario.♥”
She even gets embarrassed about it when Twink points it out.
Generally, the game makes an effort to highlight Mario and Peach’s love for each other beyond most other games in the series:
“Do you know of a place called Shooting Star Summit? It's near this castle. It's such a romantic place... It's definitely the best place for a date. Trust me. Maybe you ought to, you know, ask the princess to go there...”
[Source: A Toad, Resident of the Mushroom Kingdom, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
“Does Princess Peach have a special man in her life? She's such a lovely lady... Whoever she loves must be very special indeed...”
[Source: A Green Toad, Resident of the Mushroom Kingdom, Non-player Character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), February 2001]
Princess Peach has a very specific view of love, which she has actually expressed before in-game:
“Love... How do I explain? Love tells you when you want to be with a person forever. It makes you feel happy just to see that person happy, smiling...having fun. When you love someone, you will do anything to help when he or she is in trouble.”
[Source: Princess Peach, Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Playable Character in Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door, October 2004]
It’s pretty clear that when she says this, she’s thinking about Mario, between his obvious outwardly happy nature or his willingness to do anything to help her when she’s in trouble. This is reflected in Peach’s own actions in Super Princess Peach, when she saves Mario from Bowser’s clutches. It’s clear from her actions across various games that Peach would do anything to help Mario, and she’s comforted by him even in times of peril.
From taking Mario on a romantic vacation in Super Mario Sunshine, to talking about how caring he is with her paper counterpart, to her team name with him being “Cutest Couple” in Mario Party 5 and Mario Party 6, it’s clear that these two have a strong, devoted and loving relationship with one-another.
Tumblr media
But when it comes to my personal favorite moment between them, I feel that my answer is quite a controversial one.
My favourite moment between Mario and Peach is the ending of Super Mario Odyssey.
Tumblr media
Now, now. Put your pitchforks away. The main issue with this is that people tend to completely misinterpret the meaning behind this ending, and while I’m not going to go into too much detail here, I think it’s important to understand the intended themes of Super Mario Odyssey.
“[Super Mario Odyssey] is a journey following Mario to save Princess Peach, one of his most [beloved], so we wanted to make this an epic journey.”
[Source: Kenta Motokura, Director of Super Mario Odyssey, Vice, June 2017]
“Mario and Peach's relationship has been a big part of the games for a long [time], and in this game we're getting deeper into it!”
[Source: Kenta Motokura, Director of Super Mario Odyssey, GQ, October 2017]
“I've always thought that Mario carries a bit of a torch for Peach. I think that's true even back in the 2D Mario games. If not, he wouldn't be wasting his time rescuing her over and over again. [As for if Peach feels the same way,] The heart of a woman is a mystery.”
[Source: Yoshiaki Koizumi, Producer of Super Mario Odyssey, GameInformer, June 2017]
It’s clear that Super Mario Odyssey’s story exists to highlight the intricacies of the relationship between Peach and Mario in ways that hadn’t been explored previously. This is why the ending of Super Mario Odyssey is so excellent to me.
“The ending of Super Mario Odyssey is the culmination of an adventure both magnificent and personal. An upbeat song plays in the background while the scene unfolds: the joy of being reunited with someone you've missed, the slight embarrassment that comes with thinking of the one you love, Mario and Bowser's open honesty, and Peach's independence. Through the theme of marriage - which had never been addressed in the series before we see another side of Mario, Peach, and Bowser. The relationship between the three looks like it'll continue for years to come. The odyssey they've embarked on is far from over!”
[Source: Kenta Motokura, Director of Super Mario Odyssey, The Art of Super Mario Odyssey, September 2018]
Mario finally makes his feelings known to Peach, through a proposal, but he does so in the worst possible way. Peach refuses to marry Mario because he was acting immaturely. Mario cannot handle losing control of a bad situation and often makes rash decisions. While the latter is sometimes a positive trait for him, in this instance it’s a flaw which caused him to fight Bowser for Peach’s hand. You can hear Mario grunting while attempting to push Bowser out of the way and get Peach to accept him.
This is not the Mario that Peach knows. It is not the Mario that she loves. Peach had just been kidnapped from her home, dragged around the world and almost forcefully married to a man she’s romantically repulsed by. She was rescued by the man she loves in the nick of time who was finally about to make his move and propose to her, before Bowser barged back in and ruined the moment, and Mario started acting irrationally. She was fed up, and rightfully so.
So she turns down Mario’s proposal, and leaves. Peach does not turn down Mario’s proposal because she doesn’t love him - it’s abundantly clear that she loves him very much - she turns him down because it was the wrong place, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons.
However, her love for the Mario she knows still rings true. Their relationship is so strong that even after all of that, they quickly recover, as is illuminated through Peach’s forgiveness. She takes a breath and calls out to Mario, inviting him to come home with her. It’s a showcase of the love they share for one-another, one more potent than we’ve seen before anywhere else. A truly well-crafted study of these characters and the intricacies of their interwoven lives.

Sneak Peek of Chapter 2|| The Isekai’d Oracle
This is short but this was all I could write atm. I tried making this chapter with more interaction with the characters in the show, but interaction with the main cast might be in a later chapter. Either 3 or 4. Remember this is but a rough draft and the final thing will be slightly different. You can always send in questions or requests.
Tumblr media
(I desperately need a header for this and draw the items and clothing for the reader/oracle. Fuck the melatonin is hitting me so hard rn.)
She slowly walks up to you, getting a good look at your face and at the dog.
“In all of my years, I never expect the divine oracle coming to visit little old me. Especially dressed like this.” She motions to your torn-up clothes before cackling.
The Spider Queen snatches the scroll away from Almond and your hands. Earning a yelp from the dog.
“Look I think you may be confusing me for someone else. My dog ran off and we were honestly not planning to steal anything.” You said backing away, trying to exit this situation as peacefully as possible.
“Oh? Playing pretend, are we?” Spider Queen said, closing the distance between you two. “Did your precious Goddess, threw you out?”
You bump into the display stand. Quickly the Spider Queen leans in close, making sure there was no room for escape. Your arms tightened around Almond, fear peaking.
“You definitely got the wrong person, I swear! I’m sorry for my pet, I didn’t know what got into her but we meant no harm-” You were cut off by the demoness laughing.
“Aww, look at you! I can basically smell the fear.” She leans in close, her stare drills into yours.
“Tell me little oracle,” She shoves the scroll into your chest. “Would you help this poor demon and look into my future?”
You felt your face twitch, not knowing what to do. The Spider Queen was adamant that you were this “little oracle” person. Which you know for sure that you aren’t.
Pushing the scroll back, you gathered all of your courage.
“I truly meant it when I said, you got the wrong person! I’m just some woman living on the street. I am sorry that my dog ran into your booth.”
Spider Queen smirk fell from her face. A stern look replaces it, not wanting to reveal her thoughts.
“So this little show is not pretend. That explains why the scroll hardly had a reaction. Just great, after all these years and the Oracle has lost their memories and most of the divine energy.” She sighs and finally steps back giving you space.
“How many times do I have to say it? I'm not an oracle, just a normal human!” You nearly yell it out, yet Spider Queen rolls her eyes and stares back at the scroll.
“If you’re not then why would the scroll, that belonged to the Oracle, shine? Albeit dimly, it still reacted to you.” She waves the old thing, showing the finials glowing softly.
You shrugged, not knowing how to answer. Spider Queen clicks her tongue, crossing her arms.
“You mortals are so annoying, this is why I eat you for dinner.” She mutters.
“Look this scroll here, belonged to the Oracle and will only react to her. So if this useless artifact is reacting to you then,” She leans forward. “You’re the Oracle!” She explains but it was clear her patience was running thin.
“Well tell that thing, it got the wrong person! I’m not getting mixed up in this mess.” You said, putting your foot down.
Spider Queen, pinch the bridge of her nose, sighing loudly.
“I can easily make you into one of my next meals. Here is how we’re going to settle this peacefully. Go retrieve something for me, I can get my prediction and I’ll let you go scot-free.”
You raise an eyebrow, while she smiles. As if she didn’t threaten you being her next meal.
“Pay me for retrieving this mystery item, then we got a deal.”
“Oh? Greedy are we?”
“I wasn’t lying about living on the street. It’s rough and I’m hungry.”
“And why should I care?”
“Then I won’t be doing anything for you.”
There was a short silence. She was waiting for any sign that you were bluffing. However, just like before you meant every word. Spider Queen sighs.
“Alright fine, but after this I don’t want you to see anywhere close to here.”
“Deal.”

Was the bit where Catra mentioned Prime said she and Glimmer had "sexual tension" supposed to be a pisstake at Glitra shippers, or at least the ones who love to dig into the interactions they had in this portion of canon? I mean it was obviously foremost to underline how much of a gigantic invasive sleaze Prime is, but it is also the former thing? It seemed pretty pointed to me, but I'm me. I'm the most vindictive mfr I know.
I know the allure of enemies to lovers is guaranteed to ensnare pretty much any two characters with a sufficiently volatile emotional charge between them, but people glomming onto this really rubbed me the wrong way, especially in the shrieking void that was the lack of any acknowledgement of Catra's part of Angela's death*. And here its difficult to imagine it being founded on any more solid ground given the verbal hammer kick to the solar plexis Glimmer gave Catra during the "apology". Still lowkey reeling from how great that scene was.
I dont want to directly s*it on anyone who likes exploring the dynamic of these characters. Two characters with every good reason to want each other dead in a gutter suddenly being each others only real possible refuge in the face a greater evil is obvs great ground for drama and exploring uncomfortable, conflicting emotions, its just using this situation as outright ship fuel given the history btwn them makes me uneasy and made me read into that comment more than I think was intended.
Apologies if I'm completely off the mark with this.
To a small, gently mocking extent, yes. Now don't get me wrong, I love the idea of 'I can't stand you... but secretly I want you' - heck, I'm currently writing a show about a couple with exactly that vibe - but I just found it funny how no matter how much I had them argue or insult each other, someone would always tag it with #glitra.
Honestly, I think it's one of those ships where you just have to take a step back, say "These two would be a disaster as a couple" and start laughing about just how much of a disaster they'd be. Don't think too seriously about it and it's great.
On a more serious note, I think that the apology scene between them on this blog would have given them both a lot more respect for the other. From Glimmer's point of view, the fact that Catra is even offering up some kind of acceptance of her role in Angella's death (I know she's not dead in the show, she is here because we're allowed to say it) is a sign that something inside Catra wants to atone. It might be a tiny part that gets drowned out by everything else, but it's there. And from Catra's point of view, seeing Glimmer react in a much more mature way than she expected - on past performance, she'd be yelling insults and trying to smack her in the face.
When you compare their interaction to, say, Ties That Bind, the hard lessons they've learnt along the way are starting to take effect.

Here’s part of my newest chapter where Angela and Lucy meet for the first time. Enjoy!!
Angela smiled deviously at Lucy’s discomfort. It looks like she may be just as invested in this relationship as Tim is, she thought to herself. Then she took a little pity on Lucy and decided to change the subject to address something else Lucy had mentioned. “Hmm… I happen to know the DA that made that deal. He’s smoking hot and damn good at his job.”
Lucy was confused and wove her eyebrows together. She had expected Angela to say something more about Tim, but she had not expected anything about Wesley.
Nyla saw the confusion on Lucy’s face and swatted her hand toward Angela. She shook her head and turned to Lucy. “Ignore her. She’s just talking about her husband, Wesley Evers.”
“Wait… What?” If Lucy had looked confused before, she looked completely bewildered now. Then everything seemed to be clear to her as though the snow had fallen in a snow globe revealing the characters inside. “Oooooh,” she said, her mouth making a perfect, puckered circle. “You’re that Angela,” she said, her mouth converting into a wide grin.
“I’d like to know what that means,” Angela said, a bit taken aback that she would know anything about her from Wesley.
Lucy quickly explained, “No, no. It’s all good things. Wesley actually brags about you all the time. He’s always showing me pictures of your son, Jack, who is quite adorable, by the way. But I had never made the connection that you were a detective at Mid-Wilshire. Now it makes so much sense.” Lucy paused as she thought through her prior interactions with Wesley. “Wesley is my favorite DA to call when I need help. He and I seem to be on the same page when it comes to who should get a deal and who needs help and who needs to be prosecuted. He’s a great guy, really amazing.”
As Lucy paused, she repeated the words she had just said again in her mind. Her eyes opened wide, and she quickly corrected, “I mean. I’m not jealous or trying to steal your husband. I didn’t mean it to sound like that. I… Wesley is just a good person, a good friend. That’s all I was trying to say.”
Angela and Nyla laughed as Lucy’s concerned ramblings. “No worries, Lucy. I know Wesley only has eyes for me; I’m not offended. Plus, he knows that if his eyes were to wander, I could easily kill him and make it look like an accident. No one would ever know,” Angela said lightly, as though she was telling a joke about golfing at a country club. Angela and Nyla’s eyes connected, and they both laughed a little bit harder.
Lucy looked back and forth between the two detectives and then joined in the laughter. She was at least 90% sure that Angela was joking… okay, maybe just 80% sure.

Pairing: Johnny x Original female character
Genre: Office AU, Romance, Angst
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, Johnny is a bully
Sure, there were going to be a lot of employees and plus ones but the chance of seeing him wasn't zero.

do you have any steddie fic recs?
Do I ever!!! Thank you for asking me this because there are so many fantastic fics that I need everyone to read :) (These are not listed in any particular way, I love them all equally and couldn't pick my favourite if I tried.)
The Babysitters Club by salemofficialbb [completed] I don't actually know if I read this or Sub Culture first but I know that I consider both of them my introductory fics when it comes to Steddie. This fic is a chat-based fic that focuses on the older kids and their efforts to get Steve & Eddie together. It's cute and it's fun and it's one I reread when I need to smile. It's got Ronance, it's got Jonathan/Argyle and a ship I really like but don't see a lot of, which is Vickie/Chrissy. I laughed out loud while reading this, I squealed at times, I felt lighter after finishing it. (Also, something I did not notice the first time around because I'm v dumb is that most of the time when the characters send photos in the chats, the author links to a Tumblr with the photos so you can see them. It's immersive and I love it and yeah, please read this fic if you want to smile.
sub-culture by palmviolet [completed] I know this one gets recommended all the time but there's a reason for that. This fic is just mind-blowing in every way. It's beautifully written and the author has such a grip on the characters that they might as well just start writing for the show. It had me hooked from the first chapter where Steve helps Eddie through a panic attack and I read the whole thing in one sitting and my life is better for it, I think. The author takes such care in writing the story in a way that's respectful not only to the time period (make sure you read the author's notes because I have learnt so much about 80s gay culture from this author) but also with the characters. I really feel like I'm not doing it justice but I don't want to spoil anything about it because it's just amazing. If you haven't read it, please do. It's well worth your time. [Also, while I'm here, please consider reading palmviolet's other works such as the lathe (a time loop fic that's taken years off of my life) and their who says it was simple series (I am a simp for Eddie & Max interactions and would like to see more of them.)
Camp Folktale, Summer of ‘86 by cairparavels [WIP] I'm pretty sure I rec'd this in a Waiting Room author's note because I am obsessed with it. It's a fluffy little camp councillor's au and every update has me kicking my legs and losing my mind. All the ingredients for a good soup are in this fic: Steve being uselessly in love with Eddie, Eddie being uselessly in love with Steve, the kids being little shits and trying to get them together, the kids having fleshed out little stories alongside Steve and Eddie, Ronance, Chrissy and Fred (which I didn't expect but love) and Mews II playing a pivotal role in not only Steddie's story but my happiness. The author updates incredibly regularly and every update is great so don't let the fact it's a WIP put you off. It's worth your time and a nice cheerful story if you want a break from reading a lot of angsty fics.
all my ghosts (are with me) by steve_the_hair_harrington (peter_parkerson) [completed] This is a series of three fics that focus on Steve's reaction to sleeping with Eddie for the first time. The first two don't feature Eddie as a character but rather they focus on Steve & Robin as she tries to help him through his realisation that he likes Eddie. All of the parts are very well written and the friendship between Steve & Robin is spot on. (Not to go on a tangent but I also really appreciate the way that this author writes both Robin & Eddie as autistic characters. I felt it was handled really respectfully and also showed that two people can be autistic and have different ways of presenting it, which is always really nice to see.)
I Wake Up When Everyone's Gone by beetlesandstars [completed] This one is angsty as hell and I love it. This one-shot focuses on how Steve and, to a lesser extent, Dustin deal with Eddie's death. It's not a very long read but manages to do a lot in a little amount of time and I love when stories really focus on grief. It's one of my favourite things to read about/consume. Especially when they tackle the idea that grief isn't uniform and one person's grief isn't going to be the same as another even if they're grieving the same person. And this author does that beautifully.
Who the fuck reads to you in hell? by lichtbringer (percyinpanties) [completed] Another one-shot. This fic is about Steve reading Lord of the Rings to Eddie while he's in the hospital recovering from the events of volume two. I love the snapshots of his friends while he's in the process of waking up. I love the characterisation of Steve. I love that Eddie is alive and being taken care of. I just love this fic.
Keep it Steady, Eddie by outofmygourd [completed] Another classic when it comes to Steddie fics but one that I've only recently got around to reading. This fic features Eddie working at Family Video with Robin & Steve and the slow-burn but incredibly sweet story of them falling in love. It also features Robin/Vickie and I smiled every time they were mentioned because they're so cute and I love them. Like with Sub-Culture I don't want to mention specific scenes and ruin them but there are so many amazing scenes in this fic. I really loved how the author incorporated the kids in a way that felt really natural as well as Wayne. It felt like the world was alive outside of Steve/Eddie and I just loved it. Definitely recommend this fic and also Not so Bad by the same author.
Some Cupids Kill With Dice by horrormoviebarbie [WIP] I bookmarked this fic with Lady Gaga's speech from that meme because I truly felt like it encapsulated the way I felt about it. In this fic, Steve Harrington is a single father to Dustin & Max who falls in love with his kid's English teacher, Eddie Munson. There are four chapters out right now and each of them felt like a gift from the universe. This author not only understands Steve on a cellular level but manages to create a story so amazing separate from the events of Stranger Things (I believe this is an AU in which there are no monsters) that I would not only buy it as a published book but I also want to see it made into either a TV Show or Movie.
the most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it’s you by greatunironic [completed] So I read the entirety of this fic in one sitting last night and it has changed me as a person. The characterisation of the kids as adults is perfect. The fear of rejection and the sunken cost mentality that if you leave something for too long then it's not worth touching? Killed me. The depiction of death (especially from a long-term illness) and the different types of grief that follow it took me out and put me back together again. I want to own Ed Levy's discography. I want to pin his interviews up on my wall. I want Madchen and Robin to be my best friends. I want this fic tattoed onto the back of my eyelids.
I don't know how many you wanted so I'm going to leave it there in case I've maybe gone a bit overboard. I do have more so if you'd like more, please let me know because I love talking about the amazing fics that I've read. Also, if you're reading any of these for the first time and you're enjoying them, please make sure to leave a kudos and a comment telling the author just how much you've loved them!

I'll probably delete this later... but I just wanted to come on here to vent a little bit. So please be aware. THIS IS A VENT. I AM SAD AND EMOTIONAL AND UPSET AND I WILL SAY THINGS THAT MAY SOUND HARSH. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN READING AND DONT READ IF IT WILL MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE!! (TL:DR at the end)
You have been warned
When I got into TWST probably two years ago now, there was so much room and potential for wonderful fan interactions and creations. And I have had wonderful interactions with wonderful people from this fandom and I will continue to treasure those I've met through it.
I love everything about TWST. The lore, the characters, the art, the story. It means so much to me as a piece of media and is a huge inspiration to me as both an artist and a writer. Idia in particular speaks to me on personal levels and he has become one of my favourite characters in all of media.
TWST has also taught me about love. Love for who you are despite what others think. Familial love (blood or no). Love between friends. TWST has taught me about bravery, protecting those you love, sticking to your ambitions, sacrifice and surprisingly cooking and food heh. TWST has also made me laugh like a maniac in the way only one other piece of media ever could (aha I'm so funny).
I was aware, however, that it would have it's issues just like any other fandom.
For one, I was VERY aware of Yana's rocky history as a creator. I knew she was controversial from the start and anything she created would subsequently also be very controversial. In the end, while I do disagree heavily with some parts of the media and I knew Yana could have done so much better with other parts (cough-leona event- cough), I think she did a great job overall. You can tell how much love and dedication went into creating TWST and I'm eternally thankful to her. Thank you, Yana-sensei.
For second...
I feel that you should be allowed to create and say whatever you want, but also take responsibility (to a certain extent) for the thing you created. For instance, if I make a piece of art and post it on the internet, that is my responsibility. I could choose NOT to post the piece of art (nasty comment, offensive joke etc etc etc but you get the idea), but I chose to do it anyway. Now, I can't completely control what people will do with the art (comment/post etc), but I still chose to post it. Same with this post. I CHOSE to post this, and I am ready to take responsibility for this post. If you're not ready to accept responsibility for your post, DON'T POST. As simple as that. (But alas nothing is ever simple)
There is a sore lack of responsibility it the TWST fandom (in any fandom, really, but this is about TWST specifically). Maybe less so here, but definitely so on other platforms.
People throw around nasty and downright hurtful jokes and comments like it's confetti, but cry and whine that they're innocent when called out about it. This is especially hurtful to the smaller, less represented groups in the fandom who create content they want to see. My advice? If you see something you don't agree with, mute, block and report if necessary and just move along. No one is forcing you to interact with what that person is making. A lot of hurt and asshole-ery would be avoided if people followed this simple rule.
I've also seen people throw hate to younger artists or members of the fandom and this always upsets me. TWST is especially prone to having a younger audience due to it being a Disney property, and that's FINE. Leave them be. They're not hurting anyone.
And finally, the amount of misinformation and misinterpretations of the TWST characters floating around is practically insulting. I've seen so many just plain wrong interpretations of a character or a line and I'm frankly sick of it. There are so many hard working and dedicated translators working their asses off to translate the game and put it on the internet for free. (Note: I am eternally grateful to the EN translation team for doing their absolute best on TWST EN. While it's still a solid translation, it has several big flaws and misses a lot of character nuances. I'd still recommend anyone getting into TWST to read the JP translations along with EN)
Here are my go to, feel free to add your own:
-TWST Wiki/Miraheze (always. These people are powerhouses)
- YuuRei (Twitter and YT). They make excellent analysis and translations.
-Shell_BB (YT)
-Otome Ayui (YT)
So, in closing... (TL:DR)
The internet sucks. People suck. Get used to it. Protect yourself and your mental health and move along.
TWST has flaws, and that's FINE.
Respect eachother
Take responsibility for what you say or post
Kids will be cringe. Leave them be. You were cringe too.
Read. Please. I beg of you.
SUPPORT THE PEOPLE I MENTIONED. THEY'RE WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF FOR US, THEY DESERVE THE WORLD.
Anyway, thanks for reading all that and sorry for the long vent. A cookie and a hug for you.
Now go forth and have a great day/night on purpose!!⭐🩷

Niki Blethers: The Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir Movie, except I haven't seen the show
Okay, well, technically I've seen....maybe 7 or 8 episodes of it? But that was seven years ago, and all I remember about it is Fun Concept, Horrible Execution. That, and Marinette's a total creep. But I was intrigued when I heard the movie was going to be a soft reboot of sorts, and I had free time this afternoon, so I took the beating to my already-dead self-respect and sat down to watch the Miraculous Ladybug Movie.
Long story short: Movie good and fun, and also my heart goes out to all the long-time Miraculous Ladybug sufferers who had to wait almost a decade for the series to finally use its main premise effectively.
Spoilers below the cut!
This is, from what I can tell, a re-telling of Ladybug and Cat Noir's origin story, which is nice because that meant I didn't really need to watch more of the show than I already have in order to understand what's happening.
On that note, I actually kind of think my experience with the movie was improved by my own ignorance. Because sometimes Stuff would just Happen, and like, I could tell it was the kind of Stuff that's par for the course in the show, but it hit me out of left field and made everything 10 times funnier.
First laugh of the movie: Master Fu is so intense when he says the phrase "dark butterflies!!!" This was the moment I knew I was in for a good time.
Oh my goodness--okay, hang on, what is this dialogue between Marinette and her mom? Real people do not talk like that. This sounds like a conversation between the two ADHD braincells inside my skull, please tell me the whole movie isn't like this.
It isn't. Thank heavens. Shame that that's how the movie opens though.
I would die for Marinette's father.
And she's--oh, she's singing. Oh this is a musical. For some reason, I wasn't expecting that. Wait hang on, that is Marinette singing, right?? Why couldn't they find a singer who actually sounds like her usual voice actress?
Marinette honey, what are you doing at a café, aren't you supposed to be going to school? Is this a Paris thing, just stopping for coffee on your way to school?
Okay, already I can tell Marinette's character has undergone some major revisions. She's way more relatable here, being a creative who wants to share her art with the world, but is too anxious and socially awkward to know how to do so. Also she's no longer stalking Adrien like a total creep, so yeah. 10/10, good main protagonist.
Chloe is just a straight up psychopath. Like, I thought her abuse would be limited to the typical high-school popular girl gaslighting and insults. But she is ready to commit actual murder here. Marinette's gotta watch her back or else Chloe might literally put a knife in it.
We all need a friend like Aliya.
The scene where Marinette meets Adrien is actually pretty well-done. It's easy to see why she starts crushing on him right away, when their first interaction is him seeing her in distress and expressing genuine concern for her. They also don't spend a ton of time dwelling on Mari's crush, which makes it 100% less creepy.
Aww, Adrien's such a sweetheart. They do a great job of establishing who he is in a very short amount of time. 20 seconds into his first appearance, and I've already picked up that he is shy and socially anxious like Mari, but he's willing to overcome that to make sure she's okay. Also love the little detail of him always having earbuds in.
Marinette's song with Tiki was probably the best song in the entire movie. Coincidentally, it's also the only one that didn't feel horribly out of place to me.
I would also die for the Notre Dame security guy. I think the gargoyle has already killed him, but still. Second-best character in the movie.
I really enjoyed the contrast of Adrien and Marinette's individual reactions to getting superpowers. They're both equally incompetent here, but they express it in opposite ways (Adrien with zealous overconfidence, and Marinette with bewildered terror).
STOP FIGHTING INSIDE THE CATHEDRAL!!! THERE IS ALMOST 700 YEARS OF CATHOLIC HISTORY IN THERE!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
I'm surprised at how much I genuinely laughed with this movie. I was expecting the jokes to be a lot more juvenile and stale (I mean, there still IS a joke like that, thankfully it's only one).
Hey, Studio ZAG? Yeah, just a heads up, your action scene coordinators/animators deserve a raise. Like, a really big one.
*w h e e z e!* CARELESS WHISPER?! ADRIEN, NOOOOOOOOO!!!
I see Hawk Moth has never read/seen Fullmetal Alchemist.
Wait, why does this man just have a dungeon full of magical criminals in his back yard?? I thought he ran a dressmaking business.
Adrien wants a woman who can both kick and save his ass. I can respect that.
I like how Marinette takes such a long time to accept her role as Ladybug. Nothing about her first venture as a superhero sells the idea to her. In fact, it makes her even more desperate to get out of it.
That being said, it felt like her finally accepting the Miraculous came a bit out of left field. I think it would've worked better if she had seen Hawk Moth's attack on the carnival put someone dear to her in danger. Like her dad, or Aliya (technically Aliya IS there and IS in danger, but as far as I can tell, Marinette doesn't realize she's stuck on the roller coaster until AFTER she's accepted the Miraculous). As it is, it kind of looks like Mari just sort of changed her mind about it all after a good night's sleep.
I need a spinoff series about the Mime guy who can shoot people with his mind. Actual best character of the entire movie.
Ladybug and Cat have a really great dynamic, and there wasn't any point where I felt like one of them could win this without the other. Outside of battle, they also provide each other with a lot of emotional support, with Cat being the one to give Mari her confidence, and Ladybug giving Adrien someone to fight for.
Adrien is kind of pathetic, but I think I actually like that about him. When Ladybug rejects him, he desperately asks her to reconsider. It's not very mature, but feels pretty realistic, considering his age and what he's been going through. And I like that Marinette is actually torn between her crush on Adrien and her developing feelings for Cat. She's not dismissive of Cat Noir, but she feels like starting something with him would somehow be disloyal to Adrien.
Hawk Moth's voice actor put his EVERYTHING into the line "I hate you, Ladybug and Cat Noir!" and it is peak comedy.
Oh my gosh, not Careless Whisper again.
The climax was actually decently intense. It's pretty easy to figure out where it's all going to end up, but even so, I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing.
That awkward moment when you almost commit infanticide. #JustHawkMothThings
So I'm gonna assume that the show does a better job of explaining why they aren't allowed to use the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses to bring Emilie back to life. Because I feel like if there wasn't a good reason to NOT do that, then Hawk Moth's first course of action should have been to just invite Ladybug and Cat over for tea and explain the situation to them.
I was happily surprised to see them actually resolve the whole Love Square thing. From what I know, dragging that aspect out has been the one thing that's kept the show alive this long. But I'm glad they went this route. The movie would've been infinitely less satisfying if they'd stuck to the status quo.
Aww, well that was a really cute mov--WHY IS EMILIE'S CORPSE IN THE BASEMENT
All in all, I had a good time with this movie. The animation was really nice, the character designs were good, I thought the English dub actors did a great job, and the relationship between the two main leads was pretty compelling. There were a lot of weird little quirks that I'm assuming came from the show, but overall, this feels like the MLB team finally using the show's core concept in a way that doesn't completely squander its potential. If they make a sequel (which it looks like they're planning to?), I'm totally on board to check it out. 7/10, great for when you just want something cute that doesn't need to be taken seriously to enjoy.
