Could you give your care advice for Purrloin/Liepard? What would be a good outlet for their thieving habits?

General notes: A somewhat tricky pokemon, but manageable with a bit of patience.

General care: An obligate carnivore, this line requires carnivore kibble to thrive. Much like nickit, they have a tendency to try and steal food, and hiding their bowl of kibble is a good way to distract them so you can eat your own food. When it comes to their thieving ways, one very good method of keeping them from things they shouldn't is to fill a box or old jewellery case with sparkly but otherwise worthless knickknacks and place it somewhere prominent. Show more attention to this than you would to your grandmothers jewellery box. The more attention it gets, the more valuable the pokemon thinks it is. They're more after your reaction than anything else. If it grabs something valuable, do not react at all. After a while, once it realizes you aren't going to "play", it will discard grandma's antique diamond brooch in the hallway and raid the box of shiny costume jewellery instead.

Keep an eye on the places where it stashes its treasures. Down the couch cushions tends to be a common place.

Liepard are much more antisocial than purrloin, and you should be prepared for this. Purrloin like to cuddle up to you, liepard are happy just sitting in the same room at a distance. This is normal and natural, and trying to pester it and getting in its space can stress it out and drive it to lash out.

This pokemon has short fur and doesn't mat, though it's prone to shedding. Care rating: Green.

Training: Of all the things you might want to teach your purrloin, there is one that matters above all else.

It must know the meaning of the word "STOP".

There are times when it might help itself to something that's dangerous. A pill bottle, a sharp knife, a poisonous flower. It might be allowed to steal worthless shiny objects, but it MUST know that when you yell stop, it drops what it's holding immediately. Sometimes this is self teaching. Say, if it grabs a small joltik and gets a shock just as you yell a warning. This line is very smart and makes connections well. But otherwise teaching it STOP will be a very long and frustrating process. Keep at it. It's vital for the pokemons safety.

This line has a reputation for being hard to train, and requires a patient trainer. As said above, it's smart, but also has a strong independent streak, and is prone to feigning deafness if it's not in the mood. Training rating: Red

Safety: The purrloin has sharp claws and a willingness to use them, but is also smart enough to understand that small children are "kittens" and is generally safe enough around kids, though you should make sure the child in question isn't likely to tug on its tail or otherwise make the purrloin feel unsafe, as it will lash out.

Liepards have little patience for children, and aren't safe around them, though it is likely to try and leave their presence first.

In general, though not hideously dangerous, this line does need a lot of supervision around small children. Safety rating: Orange

Overall ranking. A tricky dark type to keep, though for people who do have that patience, they can be quite loyal. You definitely have to put the work in for that, though.

Let's be honest, you can't go wrong with an Eevee. With Kitty's love of the occult, it was little surprise that it evolved into an Umbreon one night. Its skills of night-time observation helps it scout for potential dangers in the dark. Meowscarada grew up curious about the occult, which in turn drives its motivation for performances.

Now, I've already talked about Absol, but here's a question. Is it purely coincidence, or is Dark's Absol actually Kitty's...?

Alolan Meowth is notoriously fickle, given its heritage with royal owners. Kitty earning the trust of one is a good sign of her judge of character.

Finally, Nickit and Murkrow had been working in cahoots to steal pretty pretty shiny things from her store. Unfortunately, they didn't expect to be captured to try and help them change their ways. (Plus, Murkrow's concept art had it with a witch's hat instead so I think that's a cute addition.)

In congratulations, I gift you this Little Mareep, Her name is Fuzzle, as you'll notice, her wool is pink, yes she's a shiny, she's also intent on not evolving, she went through alot of bullying from what I hear from the ranch i got her, though she hasn't been that happy with my more indoors lifestyle, considering professor Oaks ranch and your constant traveling, I'm sure she'll thrive with you, she know Thundershock, Iron tail, Trailblaze(which is a grass type flame charge), and Cotton Guard, she has Static too. While she wants to travel and be outside, she's not much a battler, she only learned Iron tail and Trailblaze was from defending her self and running away from her Bullies.

Its weird how different species of pokemom treat shiny pokemon differently, even evolved forms change in how they behave, like Flaffy and Ampharos are very protective of all the herd and will scold any bullying like that. For some it makes sense when you think of their behavior, like the Nickit line, the Sparkles and noise from said Sparkles from shinys are due to influx of light around them, it doesnt matter what kind, blindingly bright to slightly bright, even Shady to pitch black, not good for a theif to end up showing its there.

so was anyone gonna tell me the shiny Nickit line is gray/blue or was i supposed to find that out via fanart myself?

So this is an idea I've already asked of two other writers, but I would love to read your own version of it! But if it's not something you feel like doing then don't sweat it! Anyways, Leon is at Wyndon Stadium a little later than usual after a match and is getting ready to leave when a Nickit shows up and swipes his hat. From there the little Nickit runs off and indirectly introduces Leon to his trainer, a staff member of the stadium whose job is to clean up after big events and matches!

No problem, but just to let you know I can and will often write silly things from time to time:

You and Nickit have been the best of buddies for a long time, ever since you found him rummaging through your trash can late at night when you were younger. 

*Inserts Some unwarranted backstory here* - you aren’t the best treated in your own family and they make you do the chores most of the time and it’s been like that since you can remember and now that you’re older you’re kind of used to cleaning around the house etc etc. But anyway, your family were super disgusted when you brought little Nickit in after you found him and poor thing needed a home, some food and water so you brought him with you, gave him a bath and cleaned him up and he’s been attached to you since. 

It’s known that Nickit enjoys stealing food but this one is attracted to shiny things as well and so he routinely comes home with random old and new rings, earrings and coins that were dropped by their owners.

You make a strong effort to try to return them but more often than not, no-one comes forward to reclaim their missing jewellery.

Moving on: you bring Nickit along with you to your part-time job. You’re a member of the Wyndon stadium cleaning staff and you often catch glimpses of the Champion when he finishes his matches though he doesn’t notice you and your cleaning crew when you come in to sweep the area.

Goddamnit, people can be so goddamn gross....but hey, you’re used to cleaning up spilled popcorn and drinks, wiping down sticky seats and floors, tossing away finished food etc etc. Work is work and the money is good. Good enough to pay for school anyway.

One day, some bitch even deliberately tosses her rubbish onto the floor as you pass and loudly says “Clean this up.” 

Her friend seems embarrassed and tries to stop her but that bitch says, “It’s their job. They get paid for this.” 

Leon is there coincidentally and he sees the entire thing so he walks up, just as you’ve finished cleaning up anyway and walk away to focus on something else but you hear Leon telling the girl she should treat people and the environment with respect. Of course he isn’t mean about it and the girl apologises profusely. 

Leon says she should be apologising to you and not him, but you’re gone anyway so he’s left scratching his head and that bitch gets away with what she did

From that moment you may have developed a tiny crush on Leon due to his kind-hearted nature. I mean, he didn’t have to step in and stick up for you, but he did! 

Unfortunately you don’t encounter him again after that and life continues until one day, you bring Nickit with you to work

The gold lines on Leon’s cap often catches pretty rays of sunlight and glints and glimmers under the light and as you’re busily cleaning up a big match, Nickit suddenly leaves your side and scurries down the seats and jumps onto the pitch below.

You don’t notice of course and you continue working but you return to the corridor and round the corner to grab some extra bags from the station

Nickit rushes after Leon before he enters the changing room, leaps up and off the ground and SNATCH! He soars towards Leon in the air, clamps his little jaws over the visor of the cap and pulls it off his head in one clean swipe.

Poor Leon is left blinking in stunned silence for a moment or two as Nickit lands on the ground with his prized cap before he makes a beeline to the raised seating area where you are.

“Ah...! Wait, that’s mine!” Leon calls after him, and he follows Nickit all the way up to the seating area 

But you’re not there so Nickit looks left and right and wags his tail, just as Leon comes rushing up, panting slightly.

“Wait...” he wheezes a little, and Nickit spots you in the corridor with the bags and so he jumps off one of the long benches and scurries towards you on his little paws and Leon is like ???? I just got here!

So Leon follows him all the way back and towards the corridor; Nickit rounds the corner where you are and so does Leon but Nickit squeezes through the gap between your legs and weaves in and out happily and you’re stumbling with broom in hand as he keeps looping around and you’re like “Nick, what’s that you’ve got there??” until he accidentally makes you lose your footing and you’re about to fall -

Leon arrives and the first thing he sees is a person about to fall over so the first thing he does is rush over with his arms out, he doesn’t need any context or anything, he just dives right in to save you - 

and you land in his arms and look up and your eyes meet and you both blink at each other before he smiles and says, “Are you alright?”

Holy Arceus, its Champion Leon again and you realise he’s holding onto you really tightly and you feel yourself blushing like mad when he helps you onto your feet. 

“T-thank you, Leon,” you stutter, clutching the handle of the broom tightly to yourself. “t-this must be yours. Sorry, Nick can be very mischievous.”

“That’s not a problem at all,” he says jovially in response as you return his cap to him and he’s looking at you and smiling before he says, “Have we met before?”

Meanwhile, Nickit sits down and look between you two; he yaps happily, knowing that a beautiful relationship is about to begin

I... got a shiny while breeding Nickits for you! It shocked me a little when it popped up, I sat there for a minute just looking at it, lol.

It's a little boy with a rash nature. I was thinking of naming him after a character in My Hero Academia if it'll fit (Gentle Criminal), but also wanted to see if you'd like the honor of naming him?

I'll check at a later time if it's a normal or square shiny~

Also got 99% done with this pic when I realized that momma Theivul here is basically crushing one of her Nickit pups with her elbow.

i can provide basic background info on the character being portrayed on request! the only guidelines i have is that hybrids are allowed, but only within their egg groups for plausibility, and no legendary hybrids etc.. Any with a star Must be shiny in design (legendaries for Lore Reasons) but any others could potentially still be, its just not essential

you could also draw others in the evolution line if applicable/you want to! i’ll provide extra art compensation if you do, but if not I’ll design the evolutions myself based off your take.

(instead of designs I’ll also offer one flat-colour drawing of an existing OC of yours as trade if you prefer/have no use for another character)

December 16th - Fav dark type

Gen 8 really out here saying dark type rights, huh? There’s not a single gen 8 dark type I dislike - Galarian Zigzagoon line is great, Impidimp line is great, Morpeko and Nickit are cute af, and we got our first Dark type gym leader (who is also arguably the best out of all of them) - just wow. Thank you, gen 8, for the dark type love.

On that note, Obstagoon has ended up being one of my absolute favs. He’s so cool and yet so goofy - tbh, the entire line is just so good. What a great design. I thought they were cool before, but playing with them in the camp really cemented my love for them. Their run animation is so funny when playing fetch, my goodness. And the shiny? Fantastic. Their signature move, Obstruct, is also really good, if you time it right. It’s Kings Shield, but it lowers defense. Having that and counter or revenge is so strong. I felt so bad replacing my Linnoone with a Morgrem, but Grimmsnarl was pretty dang cool, too. I ended up catching a level 65 Obstagoon in the wild area in post game, and I fell in love all over again.

yes, i did! i have pokemon shield and i am playing thru it rn with a shiny dream team! every member is shiny (except my starter bc shiny lock 😔). the team is scorbunny, rookidee, nickit, hatenna, galarian corsola, and snom, and right now i have Rinne the raboot and Aurel the shiny corvisquire! ive been hunting nickit on route 2 for the last 2 weeks to no avail BUT im certain it’s coming really soon! i hunt pretty much every night, and most nights i chill on dallas TheSupremeRk9s’s youtube livestreams while hunting bc im a moderator for his channel!

also i ADORE galarian zigzagoon’s shiny SO much!! it legit might be one of my favorite shinies EVER. its on the absolute top of my priority list for non-dream team hunts, and its on my alternate shiny dream team! basically, because i love SO many of the new shinies from this gen, i am planning to make another profile on my switch once i get to the first nursery (so i can breed a shiny sobble) and then i am going to play through the game again with another shiny team! that one will be sobble, yamper, dracozolt, galarian zigzagoon, galarian ponyta, and galarian yamask!

I want my shiny fox.

Just to note, in-game only records up to 999 so ya who knows how much higher this count is(to note again, at most I added an extra 30 to the count just cuz I’m positive I’ve gone over 1000 nickits before)

But yes, I do strongly feel Im owed a grey sparkle fox by now.(Shield has around 300 nickits so add that to the total as well if you wish)

    The ride all the way out to Postwick is one that Bede had only made a couple times prior. While the rolling hills of the small farming town are a far cry from the forest he’s gotten used to, there’s no denying there was a lovely verdant beauty to it. Better still, looking for one person in a small town proves almost effortless, and it’s no time at all before Bede has his next applicant sitting down for a cup of tea.

❝... I can’t say this is a pokemon I typically see working around a farm.❞

    Bede’s calm gaze follows the morgrem, the imp in question too preoccupied with chasing off a stray nickit to pay much mind to the gym leader’s staring. The applicant seated next to him laughs, running a hand through his choppy amber hair. It’s a warm, sunny sort of sound, punctuated with a genuine gap-toothed grin.

‶That’s what a lot of folks say, but he’s been a part of the family for so long, I think everyone that lives around here is pretty used to him by now. Bit of a shiny wooloo, but he works just as hard as the rest of us!″

    Bede nods, watching as the morgrem finishes his task and begins bounding towards his trainer. Without missing a beat, his trainer turns with open arms, catching the imp as he launches himself at full force into the young boy’s chest. Bede hums as the trainer catches his breath, briefly meeting the morgrem’s curious gaze.

❝He’s rather affectionate. Moreso than any other morgrem I’ve seen. You two must be close.❞

    The applicant nods, running his fingers very gently through his morgrem’s hair (much to the pokemon’s visible delight).

‶Mmhm! He’s been my partner for… years? I found him during a delivery I brought all the way out to Turffield a long while back. I don’t really know how he managed to get so far from his home, but he was roughed up bad. I guess having to go through the wild area really did a number on him. I healed him up best I could at the time, and he ended up clinging fast to my arm… so... I took him home with me, and the rest is history! He’s been a huge help around the farm since… Even if he didn’t really start out that way.″

    Bede taps a finger to his cheek, sparing a small, rare smile at the content little imp.

❝Commendable. Most folk tend to see his line as troublemakers, and likely would have left him be had they been in your position. Your story does bring me to the next question, however… You and your family are very busy maintaining this farm, yes? Why apply to a gym so far away from home? You do know this job will be very different than what you’re used to, don’t you?❞

‶I know.″

    The applicant’s response is prompt, and he turns his golden gaze up to meet Bede’s eyes with a steely sort of determination.

‶Truth is… even if our dairy is the best this side of Galar, we’re still a very small business. We don’t have a lot of reach, and we’re struggling hard with money. Being a gym trainer is a larger paycheck than a milkman, and now my sister is old enough to make deliveries on her own. I want to help my family out more, and I think this is a good way to do it. And if I learn more about my buddy along the way and get half as strong as some of my friends… well, that’d be swell! I… know a farm boy might not be what you’re look-″

    Bede cuts in, tone mild.

❝Oh, I assure you that I have no issue with your background. As long as you know that you’ll be working very hard to learn all you need to properly represent my gym, and as long as you have a good reason for trying to learn, then I have nothing more to say.❞

    Bede stands up, running his fingers through his hair before pointing a slender finger at the other trainer.

❝You’ve got one week before I send a flying taxi here to collect you and your partner. Have your luggage in order, and do not be late… and do try to finish whatever chores you’ve got here beforehand.❞

    The young boy offers a huge smile that his pokemon echoes, and for a moment, Bede could have sworn that they outshone the sun.

‶Yes! We’ll be ready to give it our all, I promise!″
