“Shufen is trying to become a great makeup and fashion designer but because of the heavy perfumes of the other designers had to quit because the strong scents were to much but continued on the sidelines drawing and designing till they finally get back to those contests and become the best.”

Mara and Shufen
Here's an update portrait of Mara and Shufen for the upcoming Duskborn campaign for Vampire the Masquerade, Duskclub, this is the AU version of these characters(Shufen in this game is a thinblood Malkavian instead of a Kuei-jin and it makes her a little different but fun :D) who will be npcs for that campaign and I'm not going to be able to say too much more about their role in the game cause of spoilers, but I'm excited to see how the player characters will react to them :D

Shuifang daughter #1 is absolutely her mother’s daughter? She comes home from the baoshi to find out that her parents have suddenly adopted three babies and she freaks out? She also pulls a “run away to Ning-shushu”.
Little Wei Shufen was an only child for several years, since A-Lan and Lan Fang had previously decided they were happy with just one...and while A-Fen was glad to be an older sister, she was not happy about having to move out of her parents' room so that they could tend to the triplets at night without waking her.

It's taken me a month to draw and color this from paper sketch to final product and then a few days longer to post it here but I AM FINALLY DONE WITH HER.
This is Shufen, technically a Xiao/Aether child, but she can work for xiaolumi as well.
Cryo claymore sub dps character but her signature (which is not the one in the picture because I Have Not Designed It Yet) weapon is a hammer named Primordial Jade-Cased Gavel.
I was going to wait until I had finished her entire OC doc and then share it but uh. I can't wait anymore.

❝ Naze doshite? Hiroi sekai no naka de Unmei wa kono basho ni watashi wo michibīta no..? ❞
She'd been caught in her own world when Shufen had spoken up. Usually, Melanie would greet her cheerfully when she saw her but, with the return of the memories she had lost...

❝ ...Oh, hi Shufen... ❞ She murmured, giving a small wave. ❝ Mm, I guess so. Sorry, w... was there something you needed? ❞
....she didn't have the right mental state to do so.

Shen Yuan transmigrates into Shufen. A mysterious villainess with no surname. She was one of the only characters who tried to defend SQQ during his trial against Luo Bingge. She didn't have a great ending either. He finds out in time why she picked the Scum Villain's side.

12th-Century Sun Wukong
I was happy to learn that the Monkey Pilgrim (Hou xingzhe, 猴行者), Sun Wukong's antecedent, appears among a large set of late-12th-century ritual scrolls portraying the famed 500 Arhats. [1] He is depicted as a monkey-headed, black robe-wearing figure with the lower half of his body obscured by clouds, making him hard to see unless you zoom in on the image. He holds what appears to be the head of a staff in his left hand (fig. 1). Our hero is located just behind Tripitaka, who is riding a white horse led by a spirit-soldier(?) or perhaps Sha Wujing’s antecedent (fig. 2). The full scroll shows this scene happening above the heads of four arhats (fig. 3), indicating that the Tang Monk is considered to be one of these Buddhist sages.
I actually found the simian immortal by accident while researching an article about Tripitaka’s Buddha title. Dr. Meir Shahar tells me that this depiction of Monkey doesn’t appear to have been mentioned in previous JTTW scholarship (personal communication, June 3, 2023). [2] Therefore, I’m so very happy that I can share this discovery with my readers!
For more ancient depictions of Sun Wukong, please see my past article:

1) To learn more about these paintings, see Zhou (2021).
2) Dr. Benjamin Brose tells me that the painting appears in a Japanese source, but the Monkey Pilgrim is only listed as an “ape-like figure” (personal communication, June 3, 2023). See Nara kuniritsu hakubutsukan, Tōkyō bunkazai kenkyūjo henshū, 2014, p. 86.

Wu Shufen: Can I trust you will ensure my son is given to a loving family? Nezha: I give you my word, your majesty Wu Shufen: my beautiful son....    The only reminder that I'm your mother will be my favorite red ribbon. I've enchanted this ribbon to boost your strength and confidence..    Please grow up to be a happy and good boy, Xiaotian.
Wu Shufen is a new lmk oc I made! She’s supposed to be Mk’s mother who is also the Queen of demons! The reason why Mk is being taken away from her is because the Jade Emperor believes that the son of the monkey  zodiac that is destined for great things should not be raised by the hands of a demon.
The jade emperor ordered Nezha to take Shufen’s baby away while the emperor himself made sure to punish the monkey zodiac for having a child with a demon by giving him so much work that will keep him from seeing his child and the mother of his child.

Happy STS! Today I have a riddle: what comes first? The title or the story? 🤭 To expand, I'd love to hear the creation order of one (or several) of your stories. Did you think of characters first? Plot? World? What was the final piece?
Hello, dear! Happy STS and thank you so much for the ask^^ <3
Between the title and the story, the story always comes as first. I usually struggle with coming up with an at least tolerable title.
For the second part of your ask I'm choosing The Flight of the Western Crane (TFotWC) and its sequel City of False Gods (CoFG).
Since TFotWC is a retelling of JTTW, certain characters (the Pilgrims) have already existed. However, the original characters were a slight mix. I thought of the main ones (Márgerdra and Mei, to a certain extent even Yawen and her twin brother Golden Wind Viper) sooner than when i established the final version of the plot. Queen Shufen and her nephew Jun were created later into the story. I think it was around the time I was writing the 7th or so chapter, but I'm not entirely sure now.
In CoFG I came up with the characters first, then I settled down on the place, which is an artificial island falling under the administration of the 1920s alternative version of Hong Kong (alternative as in that there are demons/spirits, humans and celestials/gods). Though I'm still deciding on the final versions of the characters' designs (and maybe their motives). Now, I'm working on the plot's details (which I hope to figure out before I'm finished with TFotWC).
