A little backstory on them, Mari and Fernando are siblings and Isai's childhood friends/neighbors, and were the first kids who helped him come back to himself after arriving in Del Sol Valley with his dad.

If there were different Latin American countries in the sims world, they would be the equivalent of Mexican, but born in Del Sol Valley.

Isai and Mari have an annoying older sister, annoying younger brother relationship (they are 2 years apart), but they were always there for each other when they needed to just sit and talk or escape the rough life situations they grew up around. She calls him Pollito which means little chick because when Isai arrived from Selvadorada when he was around 9 years old, after a few months of mourning the loss of his mother during the journey, he would stick to Mari's side until his confidence got back to him and he was himself again. He was also small for his age until his growth spurt in his junior year of high school.

Fernando used to be very hot headed and stubborn, more so than he is as an adult, so when he first met Isai he would lose patience with him and get frustrated that he would be mute and wouldn't do anything on his own. Fernando had to get pushed by his sister to open up to Isai since they are the same age, and she felt that he needed friends too. After a few years of slow work Isai's warm confident personality started to shine through. Fernando found himself gravitating toward him more, wanting to get closer and even feeling like the beginning of a crush when they were starting high school. Mari helped him understand his feelings and what they meant, and he came out as gay to those he felt safe with. But his dad caught him staring at Isai too long once and beat him until Mari came in with a knife and outed herself as lesbian to her father and told him if he was so angry, that he would have to save some energy to beat her too, which made him back off. Their dad ended up taking a temporary job out of state a few weeks later and never came back.

They got along well and with Mari, the three of them would get into trouble, pulling pranks on the older rich kids who treated them badly, stealing little things from corner stores, exploding fireworks in the neighborhood, and getting into small fights with anyone they felt disrespected them. Isai would get scolded and punished by not being able to do anything with his time other than school, sports, and studying. When Mari and Fernando still lived with their dad, he was abusive and would scream, throw things and hit them if he completely lost his temper. But once that period was over, the three of them would always go back to their normal teenage shenanigans.

As adults, Isai doesn't see them as much as he used to, but he and Fernando used to have a kind of side-down low relationship while he was off playing in sports leagues and travelling. Meanwhile, back in Del Sol Valley, Fernando was getting involved in street life and crime. They weren't exclusive and it was one sided so after a few years Isai and Fernando talked and called it off. Fernando definitely still has feelings though. They still very deeply care about each other.
