Insane of the live action Avatar to give us a MOMO HEROIC SACRIFICE moment and then expect any of us to care about this monkey that hasn't had a single scene dedicated to it during basically the entire show. Momo and Appa voted most non-characters in a largely characterless show

rian johnson took all that time, put in all that effort to make glass onion a fantastic period piece to the first four months of pandemic, a prescient narrative that anticipates the stupidity of rich billionaires, and then pulled the rug from under us because the world of benoit blanc just straight up doesn't have the mona lisa anymore

Some of you guys who 'like Japanese culture sooo much' just like having a pretty pure object to turn over in your hands , but the moment you're confronted with the reality that you're handling a people and culture with flaws and darkness in their history and parts of their society that have conflicts and cruelty like any other country, you instantly drop them and begin demonizing them instead, and the idea of treating them like any other country and people never even enters your mind. Japan isn't a perfect fairyland, nor is it an oriental despot who needs to be led into the light by a white country that's assumed to be more liberal based purely on race.
Furthermore, your lack of willingness to engage seriously in the cultures and countries you're so 'interested' in shows when you assume certain political realities that have no basis in reality outside of your own biased imagination. Asian countries can't be categorized into dirty or clean, good or bad, and those categories - if you DO somehow force them in with regards to one aspect of society - will not encompass every other part of society.

Attempting to get the beast used to a dental hygiene routine is… well, it’s going.
(She stayed that way for a solid 8 seconds despite hating being held belly up so I think it’s safe to say that Mim is not beating the ‘tiny speaker playing elevator music instead of a brain’ allegations any time soon.)

Piracy is the perfect solution to so many modern problems. Nintendo doesn't sell a game anymore? Pirate it. The developer of an indie game turns out to be extremely problematic? Pirate it. Netflix and other and other streaming services are getting too expensive? Pirate it. You want to help with the boycotts but desperately need to watch that shitty Disney movie? PIRATE IT. PIRACY IS ALWAYS MORALLY CORRECT.

Its weird to look at the progression of how people are treating the new parents, because at no point did I ever remember people being so critical before. I assume it’s because people have gotten so used to parents being used to their kids and knowing how to act, and just general attachment to the eggs going up. But the amount of cirticsm ive seen towards bagi, tubbo, niki, and mousy for stuff that other people have done in the past with no complaint is odd. They are new parents and constantly expecting them to be perfect is not it. Bagi’s not going to know how to comfort Em perfectly about Jaiden, Tubbo’s not going to be the perfect communicator, Tina’s not going to fully locked and loaded attentive at the get go. People just seem to constantly forget they are new, they are figuring things out.

I'm probably just suffering from shipping delusion right now but I really can't stop thinking about the fact that Alastor and Charlie are practically made for each other, narrative wise. They are opposing forces, they have this push and pull dynamic and Viv even said that they were supposed to be foils or mirrors to each other. Not to mention, their chemistry is just insane, also the fact that they have so much in common too is doing things to me. Their relationship is practically the driving force of one of the main conflicts of the plot. Interactions are just guaranteed to happen between them. Take those away and the show wouldn't be complete without them.
Call it ironic, but I honestly feel blessed at witnessing this demonic duo interact on screen every time.
Right?
Their interactions are so interesting to witness and I was ngl really surprised that they actually had so much screentime together?
I mean I expected them to interact, no doubt, especially since their conflicting morals and mindsets are such a driving factor for the plot... but I'm still kind of shocked that we got so much???
What fascinates me the most with them in canon atm is how much genuine faith he has in her potential?
He doesn't believe in what the hotel is trying to accomplish because he doesn't believe in redemption itself as a concept, but he does clearly believe that she could change up the status quo in hell tremendously, for better or for worse.
She's an investment, and one he visibly has the utmost confidence in!
I love how all of episode 7 he just kept helping way beyond what their deal had defined, so this isn't just him acting based on that. I think before their deal he was just trying to build trust without expending too much of his help, since he was not currently guaranteed any profit for himself beyond the entertainment value - so now that she's bound to him via this favor and he's basically guaranteed a winning hand, he's noticably more willing to go above and beyond to help and is really doubling down on his investment in her.
Then there was also that little crisis he had in the radio tower... hints and glimpses of him starting to genuinely care about the project and the demons involved... and even though he's fighting it, the change is there!
I honestly love how much he and Charlie both have an effect on each other, romantic or not. Charlie's project is wearing down Alastor's walls of untouchable indifference as much as his actions are wearing down on Charlie enough to trust his word to make a deal.
I can't wait to see how this develops further (but I also dread it bc I can smell a faint hint of inescapable drama and betrayal brewing at the horizon)

i wouldn’t say the era of binge tv is the sole reason why right now, a lot of people seem to have issues with growth arcs and general patience re: letting a narrative unfold at its own pace, but i do think it’s a big piece of the puzzle
anyway i am lowkey constantly begging people to understand that a character undergoing a growth arc has to start from a place of needing that growth, which necessitates that their starting point is not Already Awesome In All The Ways, No Complaints Here.

Ngl, I don't like how the new movie is changing the backstory. I wanted miner Megatron, I wanted him writing his manifesto, becoming a gladiator, starting a revolution. No atlmodes takes out the whole funtionist society, are at least Megatron's big chunk in it. Also, Bee being the same age as them is a very weird take. I've always seen Bee as being 20 and Megs and OP being in their 50s.
Changing the backstory?? My dude there IS no one backstory in transformers. Megatron hasn’t always been a miner/gladiator/revolutionary leader against functionism. This is a brand new continuity, not IDW or Aligned. For gods sake have we forgotten the LITERAL EVIL BRAINWORMS he had in G1???
I super love new and weird takes on old stuff, in case you’ve forgotten the premise of this blog. I have some qualms maybe but overall I’m excited for this. Also you seem really quick to dismiss the lore and worldbuilding potential of not everyone having tcogs. Limiting tcog use so that “lowly worker bots” don’t have any, and apparently many don’t even have NAMES, sounds like it could absolutely be a dystopic regime, just with a different manner of oppression than functionism.
Basically: tf fans stop expecting new continuities to be exactly like old canons challenge (failed)
