I really love the whole unrequited radiostatic thing because it is just highly entertaining in of itself- but also because there's some really cool possibilities for how the whole relationship became a mix between a pissing contest and pulling pigtails.

One I've been personally leaning towards is based on Alastor being a mummys boy and generally not caring for interacting with men much outside of one-upping them.

Like if Alastor had no male friends when he and Vox met, Rosie encourages him to try new things and is pleasantly surprised to find a connection outside of his usual circles (being cannibals and jazz club girls), he actually starts to see Vox as a promising friend to have seeing as they are both powerful and the man listens to and praises every single broadcast he does which shows he has good taste despite his prefference for television and is just as if not more affectionate and complimentary than Mimzy or Rosie without being ridiculously agressive or matcho like other 'bros' he's witnessed to the point he doesn't mind the occasional random hand on his back and Vox has quite an interesting sense of humour aaaaand suddenly he can't take no for an answer and is being bitchy???? Rude. No more Wednesday Jazz nights for Vox. Friendship over.

On the other hand we have Vox who was under the impression that him being the only man Alastor was close to and Alastor constantly laughing off the possibility of him ever dating the lady friends he gossiped with meant the cannibal was super gay and they were practically dating but in a coy sexy mysterious way since Al is a bit old fashioned but it's all there in subtext and Vox has been ramping things up with a few innuendos and some saucy flirting so time to take the next step, pop the question and make things official aaaaaand he said no. He said no????? But- but Vox is supposed to be SpecialTM?????? They're on a fancy weekly dinner date??????? WHY IS THAT SMILE STILL ON HIS FACE?!?!

And so we have Alastor who's miffed that he wasted time on trying something new at all and bitching to Rosie about it, while Vox is so wrapped up in his spurned almost-lover bs he can't register just how much of a desperate loser he's coming across as, and neither of them aware that everything was a misunderstanding from day one.

It would be sad if it weren't happening to these two.

I know I mostly talk about vox's patheticness but there's a lot of interesting factors on alastor's side too (and yes while still keeping the one-sidedness) it's so good
