oof ouch owie my veins

#cw// GRAPHIC MEDICAL TALK #vein- and needle-related specifically #they keep fucking up my fucking iv catheter #my first one was ok. it was on the side of my left elbow and lasted 3 or so days. it was good.#but nooo it had to break #started leaking iv fluid after they changed the sticker bandage(?) around it #i thought it'd be an easy thing to fix but then it turns out they have to put in a new one #i was freaking tf out i'm scared of needles #they put a new one in on my upper inner forearm #hurt like a bitch but i hoped i'd survive with it until i'm let out #but of course noooo #it broke the next day #or rather when they injected antibiotic into it (from a big syringe) my vein got fucked and the antibiotic spilled into the muscle aroundit #(the whole time they were injecting i thought i was just being a pussy and it's normal for it to hurt that bad. no)#so they had to replace it AGAIN #they'd have put it on my right elbow but i've already been stabbed there thrice by that point (four by now) and had a bruise #so they wanted to put it on the back of my hand and i freaked out #begged them to put it anywhere else #so they tried my forearms and missed twice (ow my veins)#until another nurse came and just put it like 2 mm higher than my first one was #that was ok. i could live with that.#but of course the next day it ALSO started leaking (that was yesterday)#i had a crying fit #and of course they had to put a new one in the back of my hand (ow!!!!!)#so now i have that #and i'm honestly just really scared it'll break again and won't make it to my discharge tommorow morning #i have NO MORE VEINS LEFT #i dont know what they'll do if this one breaks #i'm so scared over the whole thing and everything fucking hurts oughghghgh #vent

god i want. an au where it dosn't work. where it's just arr g'raha who's woken up, and he doesn't have all these memories and all these people keep looking at him like they're mourning someone. the world has changed and time has changed and all the people he knows have changed, but he hasn't changed, he was just sleeping, just sleeping, and the world nearly ended several times and apparently he helped prevent yet another end but he has no memory of this. they want him to join the scions. he does not know these people. (he barely knows the warrior of light, now, but did he ever truly know them in the first place?) his little sister is alive and well. she looks at him like a ghost. she's changed, and she's older than him now. he acts bratty and loud and brash to cover up the fact that he does not know anything it seems, and he is tired but he was sleeping for so long, so how could he be tired?

he doesn't know these people. they seem to know him. he wonders if he'd killed someone, when it was him and not that exarch who woke up. he wonders if it should have been him who was "killed" in that way, if it is him that lives and not that man who had known and become friends with all these figures from legend. he wonders if he'll always be fated to be a historian one step back from everything, because he simply cannot be a hero.

Nya's design for my Scorched Au. Also this is my first time drawing Nya with her short hair so that's neat!

Nya's pretty important in this au. With Kai off doing his own thing, Nya ends up training to be a ninja/master of water WAY before she does so in canon since Wu thinks her abilities will be very useful. Which makes sense since you know, Kai is the master of fire. Having a master of water to deal with him would be pretty useful.

Although most of the time when fighting, Nya is trying her best to reason with Kai since she thinks if anyone can talk him down it's her. And while it's true that Nya's really the only one left that Kai cares about, he also sees the fact that Wu started training Nya as a way of replacing him which does not help his mindset at all.

Overall, it's complicated between these two. Obviously Nya doesn't like seeing all these places getting burnt down in Kai's path, but she also doesn't want to lose her brother. Meanwhile Kai doesn't want to hurt his sister, but he also wants to prove that he's good enough to be the Green Ninja so badly that he will burn down anything and anyone standing in his way.

Somehow it’s always the K**luc-ers that always do it. Which makes sense because they disregard his entire char #And with the new influx of atla fans people have been whitewashing Katara too! And I mean drawings of the original show too #probably delete later #And no one seems to have any problems with it? Especially if it’s sexualised art *talking more about Kaeya & Noé here.#People who whitewash the few (and when I say few I literally mean 5/82 playable characters) darker genshin characters. Yeah mans is not doing well. Etho needed a LOT of physical repairs after this incident, and that’s not even taking into account the programming/internal errors that caused it in the first place. Doc and Xisuma spend a LONG time trying to fix him before they eventually deem his programming unsalvageable and reset him.

#they spend a LONG time trying to replace all of the plating where etho got MORE physically broken (his forehead and his arm)#but specifically they spend a lot of time very carefully replacing the plating #because they don’t want to completely restore his shell— etho had wanted to keep the cracks from the explosion incident afterall #and if they’re gonna try to restore etho to his previous state they have to be so careful to restore the cracks the way they originally were #etho’s cheek is fine because nothing got worse there #but I imagine it’s really hard to fix his forehead (where there was a crack that went through his eye up to his hairline) and his arm—#without it looking ever so slightly different than it was before #I wonder if etho ever notices it after he deviates again #bdubs probably wouldn’t because he’s not necessarily privy to exact photographic memory like androids #but maybe etho would notice a hairline crack at a slightly different angle or that has a slightly different bend at the top. who knows #sorry I rambled way longer than I meant to DGJBCGHN #ask #dbhc ask #dbhc etho #chlopieno

So I know we here at Startrekfandom love that "came back wrong but from the pov of the wrong" thing and apply it to many different characters and canon situations and I am far from trying to complain about it (I'm "came out wrong" trope myself so I was always gonna obsess over it) but having recently watched a very important episode (you'll know which one) for the first time I think there's a character who hits both tropes mentioned but llike, intertwined, opposite and subverted, and whom I wanna talk about.

Julian Bashir.

From his parents' pov he's "came out wrong but we got him help and he came back better" while from his own pov it's "came out 'insufficient', was destroyed for it, came back wrong and only later slowly came to terms with his new self tho never the process (justifiably so)" and it's heartbreaking because in a way, he's right! Jules Bashir died! His parents had an intellectually disabled child and decided to eugenics him! Julian is not the person he used to be and while I do love the person he is now, that doesn't bring back who he was! Part of me wishes we could've gotten to see Jules at least once and part of me hopes we never do because my heart would shatter.

This isn't a good comparison but nonetheless one I can't help drawing: it's giving similar vibes to anti-vaxxers. "I'd rather risk having a child who is dead than one who's autistic". Obviously this doesn't map over since Julian is still autistic and the procedure his parents subjected him to specifically targeted his intellectual disability and if any folks with id wanna comment on this I definitely recommend you listen to them over me, but it's a similarity I, as an autistic who has encountered anti-vaxxers again and again, can't help but point out. "Give me a normal child or give them death."

This may have been written about already but there needs to be stories about teenage Julian (after finding out and rediscovering who he was) practicing some good ol' recognition of the self through media. I need to hear about how he would encounter a story about someone who came back wrong (I'm gonna assume there's plenty of "wrong" pov stories floating around by the 24th century) and absolutely weep. I need to see Julian mourning Jules, taking years and years to process his feelings, experiencing guilt about how he, the imposter, didn't deserve to live Jules' life.

Came back wrong from the returned's pov but it wasn't an accident. It was done to you deliberately by the people who claim to love you. And now you are here, piloting the corpse of your predecessor.

Jules Bashir is dead. Long live Julian Bashir.
