and death i think is no parenthesis | chapter 13
“Honestly, you were never this - ” Tissaia cut herself off, sucking her teeth when she felt a familiar presence outside her room. She turned her head, meeting Yennefer’s startled gaze. “He was never this demanding before you came along.” Her tone was accusatory, but there was no real antagonism in it. Cerberus chirped, headbutting her jaw. Tissaia wrapped her arms absent-mindedly around him, placing one hand upon his shoulders in a bid to contain him. “Sorry,” Yennefer said, though she did not sound it. The brief grin she flashed proved she was anything but contrite.

I'm With Her - Chapter 6
Sometimes, it's Brenda who does the saving. Start from the beginning on AO3
Chapter 6: White
Sharon stopped mid-sentence as something over Brenda’s shoulder caught her attention. Her face went white as a sheet and Brenda worried something might be really wrong… she had never seen Sharon look so unnerved, even a little bit helpless.
“Cap’n? You OK? Sharon?” she quietly asked the woman in front of her. The answer, however, came from behind her.
“Sharon! There you are! You’re a hard woman to track down!” a loud male voice boomed.
Sharon’s voice remained calm and controlled, her bright green eyes turning a steely grey as she replied tersely, “What are you doing here, Jack?” The color had returned to her cheeks, but Brenda could see her knuckles going white from how hard she clenched her fists.
The red-faced man — Jack, apparently — descended on Sharon, ignoring Brenda completely. She could smell the alcohol coming off of him in waves and she had to wonder who this man was that could so easily rattle her heroic Captain.
“I went to the condo, but you changed the locks on me again. Felt like a damned idiot standing in that hallway, banging on the door like that,” he slurred accusingly.
Sharon closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath to gather her strength before she looked him straight in the eye and replying under her breath, “I did not change the locks, Jack. You were probably just too drunk to work the key. Go find somewhere else to sleep it off. I don’t have time for this.”
To the untrained eye, she looked strong and in control, but Brenda had spent enough time studying Sharon’s face to see the flickers of doubt and shame (and could that be fear?) that she pushed down as quickly as they rose.
“Listen, you bitch -” Jack leaned in menacingly and Brenda decided she would not let him finish that sentence.
“‘Scuse me, sir, I don’t believe we’ve met,” she interrupted with her best southern belle routine. “I’m Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson and I do not take kindly to such language in my murder room, especially from those who have not been invited.”
Jack wobbled a little on his feet as he turned to take in the waif of a woman dressed in a floral sundress and slightly askew cardigan. He was a large man and she looked like he could knock her over with one finger, but even as drunk as he was he knew better than to tussle with a police chief.
“Jackson Raydor, Esquire,” he stated with a self-important smirk as he offered a hand to Brenda. From the twinkle in his eye, Brenda thought he could almost be charming if he weren’t so drunk.
“Oh, I see! You must be Captain Raydor’s husband?” Brenda said brightly but did not take his hand “I have heard… well, almost nothin’ about you! But it is just an honor to meet you, yes sir! Now, I am so sorry about this, but I do need just a few more minutes of your wife’s time — you understand, donch’a? So if you’ll just find somewhere else to wait for her, I would be ever so grateful.”
Keep reading on AO3

Doctor Who Femslash February, Day 22 Prompt- Crossover @doctorwho-femslashfeb
Rose was stuck, stuck in a universe that was not her own. With a dimension canon that was taking longer to charge since the energy source was different here so the canon needed time to transfer the energy into something useable.
Sadly, she couldn't become a hermit in this universe. She needed a source of income and with her unique powerset it meant that joining a guild would probably be the best for her.
Enter; Fairy Tail. It was much easier to join than she would've initially thought. She just walked in, said she wanted join, they'd had her fill out a few papers, and then she got her guild mark in her chosen spot and color. (A deep blue on her collarbone.)
And it seemed that once more, she was in another universe where there wasn't another version of her. It was strange but a fact that she'd grown used to. There never was another version of her. Either because Pete and Jackie never had any children, they did but Jackie miscarried or the child died young, or they did have a version of her but it was a guy.
Rose was more then used to this fact. Just as she was used to people flirting with her, like Loke did. She knew he never meant any of it, could see it in his eyes which carried a weight of untold regrets. A weight that she was familiar with, after all, she saw it every time she looked in the mirror.
So she bantered with him, maybe flirted a little. She knew that in the end it would only lead to pain on one or both of their ends. After all, she could see the timelines of those who have lived a long time or will live a long time. Though Rose doesn't use this particular ability often, especially with those she chooses to interact with, too much knowledge of what will come can be dangerous.
And so it's easy to fall into a role, another mask to add to her ensemble. Because she is nothing if not adaptable. Act younger then she is, alter her appearance just a bit to make her look a bit older then what Bad Wolf made her look. Kind, but not naïve. There are a million and one things to make up this mask. The mask of Rose Prentice, 24 year old who has an unknown magic but is so incredibly sweet.
She's talented at making masks, it comes with living for hundreds of years and she wonders if the Doctor was like that too. If he's still like that, masking who he really is. But she knows he didn't do it with her, the TARDIS made sure to leave just a small enough link between her and the Doctor to know.
But that's not important. What is important is the fact that Natsu brought a new potential member in who looks so fascinated by the guild. Rose allows herself just the barest peek at the girl's timeline. Enough to gather how she should act around her and treat her.
She tilts the drink back in her hand, just a small bit of alcohol left in the cup as she stands. The girl- wait no, woman. The woman is talking with Mira about how to become part of the guild and Mira easily gives her the forms.
Rose casually sits next to her as she fills out the form. Neat handwriting a strike contrast to most of the guild's nearly illegible scrawl. She watches as the lasts of the forms are filled out. A neat swish that was clearly taught to her and had her memorize it until she could do it without thinking ending the paper.
Rose sipped on the remains of her drink casually as though she wasn't paying attention to the woman beside her. And yet she watches her out of the corner of her eye as she nervously waves down Mira and hands over the forms. Rose can practically see the thoughts running through her head as Mira takes the forms back.
And this is the perfect chance to introduce herself, "Hello."
Best to start simple, and yet the woman still jumps, it makes Rose furrow her brow as she quickly thinks back to what she'd seen. Until- ah.
She alters her voice to be softer, more kind. Rose lets part of her past self bleed into her voice, "Sorry, I uh- didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to let you know that Mira is just going back to archive the submission and make sure that most things check out. Oh! I'm Rose by the way, Rose Prentice. You are?"
It's a way for the woman to become comfortable and Rose can tell she's done a good job by the way her shoulders release the tension that was in them. The tension that seemed to be at home there, "I'm Lucy. Does she uh, have to check everything?"
Lucy's voice tilts up at the end- nervousness Rose realizes so she rushes to reassure her, "Nope. Say if you only put first name but no last, she won't ask. After all, we've got more then our fair share of people who don't want their past to find them.
A relieved sigh slips past Lucy's lips as she seems to become more energized, "So! What kind of magic do you use?"
Allowing a smirk to make itself on her face she says, "Don't know. My magic doesn't have a name, far as anyone can tell I'm the only one with this type." let a tinge of bitterness slip into her voice at the end, make it seem like that upsets her. Then change the subject, "What about you?"
Lucy, seeming to sense the fact that she wished to change the subject happily explains that she using Celestial Magic. How she makes contracts, and when Rose inquires about if the spirits are free to create a contract or can they refuse? Lucy seems to immediately know what she's asking and is in vehement protection of the fact that if a spirit does not wish to make a contract then they are more then free to refuse and people who force contracts are horrid.
Maybe this dimension won't be so bad after all.

{Reunited beneath the sun and the moon}
Lillie hasn't been to Alola for years, and she misses it dearly. Especially one specific person. For @femslashfeb day 8, moon
One foot in front of the other, Lillie watched her sneakers trace the old nostalgic paths on her way to Professor Kukui’s lab. She linked her hands behind her back, humming a little tune to herself. As always, the aimless melody found the familiar shape of a lullaby her mother once sang to her, so long ago. Before everything happened, before Lillie found herself, strong and independent despite what she’d once believed. Remembering that tune used to stab pain through her heart, at what used to be, and what she had once longed to be again, but no longer. Now it was just a distant memory, fitting for the region that, after three years, Lillie finally returned to.
Although she could go stay at the Aether Foundation, Professor Kukui suggested she stay the night in her old loft, just like old times. He’d left her little space alone, though it may have significantly more feathers from a naughty Chatot that had managed to break into it. Moon’s house, too, was a hop, skip, jump away, and she’d surely be excited to see Lillie again. She was ashamed to admit that the prospect of seeing Moon again enticed her more than anything else.
Sorry, Professor Kukui. He and his wife had done so much for Lillie, and still she wanted to see that one person above them both.

How to Handle a Nico: Juice Cleanse?
Primary Pairing: NicoMaki Rating: G Words: 639 Fandom: Love Live Time Frame: Maki may still be in her residency, elsewise is a doctor. Nico is working as an idol producer. They live together as a happily married couple and are currently on vacation Events: Femslash February 2023 & Femslash Friday Event Source: @femslashfeb & @femslash-friday-prompts Prompt: Sun & Cleanse
---------
Author’s Note: Trying a new version of a self-appointed challenge I started back in Promptober by combining current and prior year prompts, this time combining prompts from two separate events slated for the 9th.
Summary: Nico and Maki kill some time on the beach
---------
“That took longer than expected.” Maki commented as she heard her wife approach. “Was there a long line or something?”
“Sorta…” Nico responded before handing down a pair of frozen drinks.
“Sorta?” Maki raised an eyebrow as she accepted.
“Well, the line wasn’t for the drinks.” Nico explained, reclaiming her chair next to Maki. “It was of fans of Niconii that were unable to make it to your little surprise Live last night, but still wanted signatures.”
Maki chuckled. She was still quite proud of herself for setting up that event, even if Nico had ended up finding out about it anyway and had only pretended to be surprised.
The couple was on a vacation Maki had arranged for Nico’s birthday this year. Trying to get their schedules to align for a full week had been the biggest task, and far less fun than researching all the possible attractions at and around this resort. But it had been well worth it.
The two had spent most of yesterday exploring the nearby small town before Maki revealed the not-so-secret solo concert in the resort’s auditorium. Today, they were scheduled for a private boat tour and were killing time by soaking up the sun until then.
“The No. 1 Idol in the Universe really does have fans everywhere.” Maki commented, handing back one of the drinks now that Nico was settled in her seat.
“Of course!” Nico preened. “Nico is the… wait, you just said that…”
Maki laughed again. “So, what did you get me?” She inspected her drink.
“Juice cleanse.”
Maki raised an eyebrow. “I’m pretty sure juice cleanses don’t include alcohol.”
“That’s just what they called it on the menu.” Nico shrugged before taking a sip. “Besides, why do you care what it’s called?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re always saying how stuff like that doesn’t actually work.”
“I’ve never said that.”
“Yeah, you have.” Nico insisted. “Dr. Maki-chan knows everything about such things, right?”
“I’ve said I believe the effects of such things are often overhyped.” Maki stated. “Or that they do not work as well as advertised. Or that some are making misleading claims. And others could be fined by the government for making scientifically and medically unsound claims. Not that they flat out do not work at all, or are unhealthy. Also, anything can be unhealthy if used incorrectly or without moderation.”
“Well, this juice cleanse is about to cleanse Nico’s mind and soul.” Nico made great show of sucking a sizable amount through the straw before humming her approval after she swallowed.
Maki sighed.
“Geh…” Nico scrunched her nose and squeezed her eyes shut.
“Nico-chan?”
“Brain freeze…”
Maki chuckled. “Now that’s a potential side effect that should be properly documented and included in any advertisement for the product.”
Nico grumbled an expletive. “I’m surprised you didn’t say that Nico doesn’t have a brain to freeze…”
“Seemed like too easy a jab to make.” Maki shrugged before finally sipping her own drink. “This is actually pretty good.”
“I know, right?” Nico grinned as her mood spun on a dime. “Nico knows what her favoritest Maki-chan likes. Although, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to find anything with tomatoes in it.”
Maki rolled her eyes. “They really didn’t have bloody marys on the menu?”
“Surprisingly, no. Also, you know Nico doesn’t like vodka.”
“Oh well, at least the tomatoes you’ve been making for breakfast so far have been good.”
Nico smiled again.
“Anyway, thank you, Nico-chan, for getting these.”
“You’re welcome.” Nico replied, leaning back in her chair.
Maki was about to check the time on her phone when she felt a hand reach over to claim hers. Well, that was fine, she had set an alarm to remind them of their tour reservation anyway. Maki took another sip of her drink before she also leaned back in her chair. Another day being spent wonderfully with her wife.
---------
Author’s Note Continued: Since I already did NicoMaki for Femslash February’s Moon prompt, I kinda wanted to use them again for the Sun prompt. And that made me think about them soaking up the sun on vacation. And tropical vacations often include fancy tropical drinks that very often include juices of various kinds. So why not let some resort bar have a little fun with naming their creations and call one a juice cleanse. Mix in a bit of NicoMaki banter and I had a nice and quick little dual event entry.

This is super late and this week has been killer, but I had to. I was inspired to write a different type of Starrae. @thekitsune and @raestar-starrae-week I hope this decent!
Starrae Month
-----------
"Friends? You are using this app - to make friends?" Raven questioned, seeming aghast.
She referred, of course, to Starfire's discovery of Girls Seeking Girls. Starfire found her reaction rather curious.
Curious and interesting indeed...
Kori had believed the application to be a manner most convenient, for making the female friends. Perhaps, she was incorrect in her assumption. Or perhaps, Raven did not find the idea of it agreeable. With her tendencies, Starfire thought Raven would do well to have a profile of her own. She had a proclivity for maintaining her friendships at distances.
The other girl glanced at the tall figure hovering above the couch she was reading on. Starfire observed her at the usual patterns, choosing words carefully and holding back. "Kori. It's not really for that..." Raven muttered in a voice that had become predictably settled.
"Then, please, what is the intention for such an application?" The fluorescent stare bore into Raven with laser-like intensity. The rose-colored curls were twisting embers burning endlessly around them. "The proper purpose?"
An uneasy breath was reluctantly released. At once, she knew Raven desired to say more than she would let on. There was a worrying about her mouth, until the pink lips became inflamed, reddened. "...Dating..." Raven said vaguely to the distance. "It is for - dating."
Though it was subtle, Raven appeared more bothered after speaking these few words aloud.
"Dating? How fascinating..." Starfire pondered this. Earth people truly had all the things they required to meet with one another - to render a physical meeting rather redundant. "Unexpected, though certainly not unwarranted..." She floated, a serene, supine. "Yes, I can see this..." Most of her long, buoyant limbs could easily reach out and graze the stunning sorceress. At any spot on her body she chose.
Starfire often hungered at the thought alone.
Did Raven have such thoughts?
Raven's completely shielded face was angled at the ground, not at the Tamaranean. "What do you see?" The strained, disembodied voice asked.
"I can see...the necessity for others - for myself as well." Starfire nodded. "This is more forthcoming than a service for mere friendship, is it not?"
Raven did not answer. For a while, she did not speak.
Her darkly colored hood was hardly soundproof, but she seemed to wish it to be. Patiently, Starfire waited for Raven to vocalize her thoughts. Golden arms touched down to tickle the thorax of the smiling, sleeping, little larvae on the opposite end of the couch.
The pale girl's shift led her tome to slide off her lap and straight to the ground. She shut her eyes and black energy summoned it back. Returning it to its place. "Starfire, maybe you... don't understand." She tried. "Dating as in pursuing relationships - and relations - with other women...?" The entirety of the explanation, she did not once meet Starfire's eye.
"Oh, I am not confused." Starfire insisted. Almost slyly. She did find the prospect of a dating service thrilling. If not a decent distraction. "I understand quite well."
"Are you sure?" Starfire could tell by the way Raven's jaw muscles moved, that this was not what she wished to say. It was difficult to tell by the way her face was covered in shadow. But Starfire had an inkling that she was correct.
"Why, yes." A long fingered, caramel hand began to lower the novel that Raven no longer appeared to be reading, so much as using it as an additional device for covering the face. "Though, perhaps not as well as you, Friend Raven."
Raven flinched. Her huge purple eyes swelled. They turned child-like in their enormousness.
Starfire simpered, certain she had 'struck the chord'...
-----------
"What?" The large amethyst irises darted about in opposite directions. She quelled the throbbing organ under her ribcage, but it was still pounding. "Me..." Raven repeated, trying to process these implications.
The whispers, teasing, and innuendos. All those questions she was bombarding her with - they didn't sound like those of the innocent, albeit idly curious woman with whom she had grown familiar. There was no doubt; they were purposeful. Seeking. Starfire was dropping hints. She was daring Raven to challenge her.
Raven didn't think she was reading into things.
Was she?
The alien princess's gorgeous face was open and affectionate as it always was. Raven had to be imagining this. "Kori, earthlings... are not as forthcoming with sexuality - at least not when compared with Tamaraneans." She spoke calmly. "That is in part why these apps and services have come to exist."
"Ah. Yes. Thank you, Friend Raven." Starfire tapped her chin. She daintily dropped her body onto the arm of the seat. "You are most knowledgeable about applications..." And she was pointed now as she pointed at her. "This one in particular."
Her skin prickled.
Her face burned.
Her ears were ringing with Kori's breathy giggles.
Was it possible she was - dare she even think it - more obvious, than Beast Boy?
No. It was impossible. There was just no way.
The mage held a seedy glare, before responding in the flat manner in which they were accustomed. "Starfire, I'm not sure what you mean." A cheeky expression flashed at her. It was brief, but Raven saw it.
There was no denying it.
"But you do know, do you not?" She mused melodically. Raven opened her mouth, but then promptly shut it. There could hardly be a sufficient response. Luckily, for her Starfire didn't press.
She hardly needed to.
Starfire hummed a Tamaranean song, gathered up Silkie, then traipsed toward the direction of her room. And Raven could do nothing but watch as the faded ends of gold fire swish sensually out of sight.

Prompt: The “L” Word
Ship: Anna/Layla
Rating: T-ish
Word Count: 780ish
Tags/Warnings: Mention of cancer remission/healing, sexual inexperience, canon divergence/alternate canon, dreamwalking
Written for @femslashfeb.
A gift for @nooowestayandgetcaught. Also tagging @oddsocksandstuff and @rosemoonweaver because reasons.
“Who are you?” Layla asks the fairytale-pretty redhead. This isn’t the first time she’s seen her flitting about Layla’s head, she’s been haunting Layla’s dreams for weeks. Ever since she stopped praying for a miracle and truly accepted her fate. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe, it was that—maybe it just wasn’t her purpose, maybe her life was meant to be short. And she was okay with that, she’d been coping—
“Don’t worry about that. You, though. Layla Rourke. You’re important.”
Layla’s skin prickles. Her hair stands on end. Her head feels—odd. “No more than anyone else.”
“You have work to do.” The woman invades Layla’s space, her eyes stealing Layla’s breath. Old; wise. Intense and otherworldly. “You need to live.”
“I don’t understand.”
“It’s okay.” The woman smiles. She doesn’t ask. She touches Layla with soft, gentle hands. Presses their foreheads together. It’s intimate. In a way Layla’s never experienced.
“Can I see you again?” It’s the most selfish she’s ever been and she’s not sorry. “I don’t want you to go.”
“I am here, always. Watching over you.”
Layla shivers. Pulls back the slightest bit but it’s only so she can kiss the woman’s temple. “Tell me your name. Please.”
“Anna.” The red-haired beauty entwines their fingers and warmth unfurls itself in Layla’s chest. “My name is Anna.”
“Anna,” Layla says, tasting her name. “I hope this is real. I hope you’re real.”
Anna opens her mouth to answer but they’re interrupted by Layla waking up, grinning from ear to ear.
**
“I’m better,” Layla blurts as soon as Anna appears in her dreams again. “The doctor’s say it’s as if the brain tumor was never there.”
Anna nods. “And it will stay that way.”
“You did this,” Layla says. “You healed me.”
“I did.”
Layla stares. “So. You said—you said I have work to do. What exactly does that entail?”
“Only you can know what is worth doing, Layla. I can’t decide it for you.”
“I don’t want to be without you ever again,” Layla says, reckless. She means it.
“I told you, I—”
“Yes, you’re always with me. But I don’t get to see you. I want to. I need to see you,” Layla says, gripping Anna’s shoulders. “Don’t you want to see me? Up close? We could—we could do anything.” She blushes at the significance of those words, how true they are. How bold.
“This would make you happy?” Anna asks. There are wheels turning behind those big eyes. Layla’s almost afraid of what they might see. Almost.
“It would. I can’t even begin to tell you how much.”
“Then it’s done. I’ll find the time.”
Layla thought finding out she was cancer-free would be her happiest moment, seeing the relief on her mother’s face. Oh, the celebrations they’d had that day.
But it’s not her happiest. It’s this; now. It’s knowing she’ll see Anna again. In the flesh.
**
They’re at the park near Layla’s home. Far too old to be here without children in tow but Anna has no shame. She pushes Layla on the swing and it’s all kinds of nostalgic. It reminds Layla of a simpler time. Girlhood excitement, wonder, and crushes. There had been a part of her, even then, that knew she wasn’t straight.
She’d never had a reason to act on those feelings, though.
Until now.
“You’re so gorgeous,” Layla sighs out. Maybe she’d have more tact once upon a time. But she used to be dying and now she’s not. It’s done something dangerous to her.
Anna hums. “As are you.”
“I don’t think you mean it the way I mean it,” Layla says, laughing awkwardly.
“How do you mean it?”
Layla stretches out her legs, stopping the swing. Tilts her head back slightly so she can catch Anna’s gaze. “I’m really attracted to you. I think a part of me always knew that I’m a lesbian. I never felt like saying it before. But you… make me want to scream it. I don’t care anymore. I don’t care what people might say.” She says it all way too fast. But if she didn’t do it now, she might never do it. And Anna deserves to know.
Anna drops a kiss on her forehead. As lovely as ever. “I’ve watched you for some time. I know who you are. I love you more because of it.”
Layla doesn’t know for sure what this means. She’s not even sure Anna’s human. How could she be? But Layla isn’t scared. She knows, deep down, that Anna is good. Whatever else she might be seems rather unimportant. Anna’s here for a reason. They met for a reason. It’s up to Layla to decide what to do about it.

Day 21: Dear Em
Bellatrix/Molly, T, 666 words For Day 21: @femslashfeb’s black + @hpfemslash-minifest’s song prompt (“Someone like you” by Adele) Also on AO3.
Dear Em,
If you would just talk to me, you would realize that it was all a misunderstanding. I didn’t mean to curse Fenwick. He said some things and you know how my temper is. I couldn’t help it. Just can you please respond? I know you’re getting these letters. Just PLEASE.
Sincerely, Bee
P.S. He wasn’t even that hurt, so there’s no need for you to be so upset.
P.P.S. How did you do on your NEWTs? I’m so nervous I haven’t opened my scores yet.
~
Dear Em,
I miss you. I don’t have a hope that you’ll respond, but it would be nice if you did. I saw your brothers leaving the Auror office the other day. Tell them to be careful. There’s been rumors going around of some kind of Dark Lord, and I don’t want them to get hurt. Not that I care that much, but I know hurting them would also hurt you, and I still care about you. Anyway, duty calls. Cissy needs help again. Merlin, will she ever learn to do things on her own?
Hope you’re doing well, Bee
~
Dear Em,
I heard you married Arthur Weasley. What has gotten into you? He was always the dull sort, but at least he’s from the right background. Remember when we used to tease him about always dropping his wand and tripping in the hallways? I sometimes wonder why we can’t pretend like it’s back then. It would be good fun, wouldn’t it? But no, you probably wouldn’t like that, being my friend again.
Mother and Father are constantly on my case about finding a suitable match. Ugh, but I hate boys. They’re all despicable and gross. The Lestrange boy has started following me around. He even approached me on my walk through the gardens yesterday. If you were here, I could tell you more about it.
A strange man has also been visiting my parents a lot recently. He says he wants to form an elite group of wizards and that he wants my family to join. I don’t know. It sounds interesting though. The Lestrange boy invited me to go to the first meeting with him. I’m thinking of saying yes.
Still waiting to hear from you, Bee
~
Dear Em,
I’m engaged! Yay me. Although not really. I will no longer be a Black soon. I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad about that. I think married life won’t be bad though. Rodolphus has agreed to leave me alone most of the time, as long as we show up to social functions together which are utterly dull. But we probably won’t have much time for those as we’ll be busy with that new group I told you about last time. The leader is fascinating, and he has the most interesting eyes. Have you known anyone with red eyes before?
I’ll write to you soon, Bee
~
Dear Em,
Andy has run away. If you see her, send her back please. Mother promises she won’t be in too much trouble.
Thinking of you, Bee
~
Dear Em,
I’m sorry about your brothers. I didn’t mean to, I swear. But they snuck up on me and then with the mask, it’s so hard to tell sometimes who’s who. In my defense, they tried to kill me first, so really it’s their fault. I walked by their graves earlier. I saw that you left roses for them. Remember when you used to give me roses? No? I do.
I’ll never forget, Bee

Dear Em,
I won’t be able to write for a while because I’m being sent away. Say hi to your family for me, especially the little ones. I heard that you have a seventh on the way. Congratulations. Tell them their Auntie Bee will come visit them as soon as I’m released.
See you soon, Bee

Note
hi thanks for the ask!
I answered one of these already for an amphibia fic, so let’s switch directions abruptly and do a Steven Universe fic, why not? I’m gonna go with “take my hand (wreck my plans)”.
So this fic was written for the FemslashFeb prompt mermaids, and was heavily inspired by The Girl From The Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag. (Great graphic novel about a girl who falls in love with a selkie girl, I highly recommend it! And Peridot being a tired college student was inspired by the fic Love Like You by insertusername on AO3.) I had a lot of fun with it, especially Lapis, because I’m a sucker for flirty chill Lapis and gay disaster Peri. I don’t really have a favorite excerpt or anything, but I like it overall. Sorry, I don’t quite know what to say about it, just thought I’d share its inspiration.

Doctor Femslash February Day 23. River @doctorwho-femslashfeb
So! There's two versions of this one with a Rose proposes ending (that's this one) and one with a River proposes ending (that's the one on my ao3 instead). This is a short, cute, riverrose fic enjoy!
River knocked at the front door of her girlfriend. She knew her story. Technically a goddess, un-aging and more powerful than she could ever want to be. Stuck in a life that lead to her constantly moving, even now.
"Hey," Rose said, opening the door. She was dressed for their date already and River grinned at her.
"Ready?" River asked. She grinned at her and stepped out of her flat. She stepped back to let Rose lock her door, and took her hand.
"Vortex manipulator or did you steal the Tardis?" she asked, looking at her.
"Sorry sweetheart I haven't stolen the Tardis this time," she said. Rose sighed, but kissed her cheek anyway. She moved her free hand to rest on the manipulator and let River do the rest. She smiled at her and set them off.
Vortex manipulator travel would never get comfortable. It wasn't as bad as dimension hopping, but she wasn't really a fan of it. River was much more comfortable with it though, and kept her upright when they landed. Rose took a moment to catch her breath and get her bearings.
"I hate that so much," Rose muttered. River hummed and stroked her back. Two more deep breaths and Rose straightened. The view around them was stunning. She gasped as she looked around. "But this is definitely worth it."
River chuckled and lead Rose over to a fallen log by the side of a pink river. Rose settled onto it and leant into River. Around them birds that looked nothing like any birds she had seen before chirped. The pink river flowed around deep blue rocks and the long dark purple grass swayed in the gentle breeze. Tall flowers swayed in the distance, and the area smelt faintly sweet.
"I brought food," River said, swinging her bag around to sit in front of them in the grass. She pulled out a small paper bag. From her favourite bakery too.
"You're so sweet," Rose said. River smiled at her and pulled two strangely purple sausage rolls from the bag. Rose took the offered one and settled into River's side. In the distance, past the trees and the flowers they could just make out the dual suns setting. It was a stunning sight.
Rose was suddenly hit with the thought of how perfect this place was. How stunning, and so very them. The perfect place to propose. She'd thought of proposing before, plenty of times. She'd even considered buying a ring. Though she hadn't actually gotten one yet. She glanced at River.
Did you really need a ring to propose? She looked around. Beside her was a strangely silver leaf, but most leaves here were green. She didn't question it though, just picked it and rolled it into a tube. Rose flattened it out, and managed to shape it into a ring. It didn't stick naturally, so she pulled on her latent Bad Wolf abilities to connect the atoms together.
She checked it over. The leaf ring still looked like a leaf, which was good. It wouldn't be very them if the ring she'd created looked like an actual ring and not the leaf she had crafted it from. There was much more care in the leaf ring instead of just turning the silver leaf into actual silver.
Rose pulled back from River and slipped off the log and onto one knee. River scrunched up her eyebrows slightly, and barely tilted her head to side. Then she caught sight of the ring. She gasped slightly and put her unfinished sausage roll down onto the paper bag.
"Rose," she said, grinning.
"This is entirely unplanned," Rose admitted. River grinned at her.
"I'll marry you," River said. Rose laughed.
"I didn't even ask yet," she said. River shrugged. "River, you're always there for me, and I love supporting you too. You're a fixture in my life. I love you. Will you marry me?"
"Yes sweetheart," she said, pulling Rose up into a kiss.
Rose pulled back after a moment and settled back onto the log. She grinned at her.
"I made it out of a leaf that I found on this log," Rose said. River hummed as she admired the ring on her finger.
"It fits perfectly," River said, grinning at her.
