I get inspired by nature, the seasons and music, I have a lot of clothing with floral patterns and colors that remind me of nature. In the summer I wear much lighter colors than in the winter, together with floaty fabrics, ruffles, crocheted clothing, mesh, midi skirts, bell sleeves etc. In the fall I wear warmer colors such as burgundy, dark green, beige and brown tones, as soon as it gets colder the velvet and corduroy clothing pieces come out of my closet! I own one pair of sneakers that are honestly dusting away because I always wear platform boots/loafers/ballerina's/heels! I love thrifting and vintage clothing, so I always try to find unique pieces that spice up an outfit (turtlenecks and pantalons with vintage baroque prints, tapestry prints). Also some art I get inspired by is from William Morris, the prints that many people have as wallpaper in their homes! H&M had a line called "Morris & Co" a while ago where his prints came back in clothing pieces, I bought a second-hand pair of pantalons from this line and I am absolutely in love! (I'll be sharing some outfits soon!)

The same goes for accessories, many vintage and statement pieces; crystal necklaces, vintage jewelry and embroidered belts, jewelry from my mom and grandma, statement rings, moon and sun symbols (moon goddess), stacked bangle bracelets (they make a lovely sound, which is really calming), vintage scarves and hats, and don’t get me started on bags!

Music also has a big influence on how I dress, I'm a big fan of 60s and 70s music, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, glam rock.. a mix of all of these together! I also get inspired by shows such as The Craft, Practical magic, Sabrina the teenage witch & Chilling adventures of Sabrina (If I was a place, I would be Sabrina's living room tbh) and Charmed!

Okay so I’m on episode 5 of Wednesday so far and as a connoisseur of all things Addams family here are my thoughts. Spoilers are included.

1. Wednesday loves her mom??? What’s with the weird angst between her and her mother? It feels so forced.

2. Carrying onto that, why is Morticia so… bland? Like what happened to this graceful, elegant woman who was in love with all things dark and weird? This Morticia feels more like Debby from Family Values just in all black??? Also they made her not so smart like what is that all about? sure the Addams family are kooky but honestly she’s got to notice the things around her aren’t at face value. the way the headmistress hates her is so obvious but she just ignores it??? Doesn’t notice???

3. I hate Gomez Addams which I can’t believe I’m saying but they dropped the ball. He’s TOO goofy.

4. What’s with the absolute blatant racism??? All of the “villains” are black. Bianca has so much potential as not only an amazing character but someone Wednesday would actually get along with but they made her so shitty and shallow. None of the black characters are being depicted as good in any means they are all made into villains in some way.

5. To carry onto the racism Morticia a white woman really looked at a black man and told him that he would never understand what it feels like to be believed. Really????

6. Wednesday would never be upset that her parents covered up a murder. If anything she would be upset by how utterly sloppy it was.

7. Puglsey. Just. Pugsley. Why the hell is he so freaking whiny?????

8. The Addams were never so authoritarian with their children but the way they treat Wednesday is odd.

I’m all for changing things from the source material but this remake is laughable. The love interests feel forced, they’re trying so damn hard to make Wednesday aloof and creepy that they’re forgetting that she’s more than that. This feels just like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina did and that was a disaster of a show that relied more on the edginess than the actual storyline.

As for the good things?

1. Enid is amazing. I love everything about her. I want more about her struggles with her family.

2. Eugene deserves the absolute world.

3. Bianca is hands down my absolute favorite character and it’s a damn shame what they’re doing with her character she has amazing potential. Also her character design??? Amazing????

4. Jenna Ortega ROCKS as Wednesday.

5. I love that Christina Ricci is in this series and I love her character and I can’t wait for Wednesday to figure out that she’s the monster :)))) (this is my guess I haven’t finished the series yet)

6. I really enjoy Tyler and Xavier, I just wish we weren’t given a stupid love triangle. Wednesday is sapphic ace and that’s that. Tyler and Xavier both have interesting characters and backstories and I want more of both.

7. I love the magic element given. I love that Wednesday has visions.

I think my biggest issue with what I've seen from the Wednesday show is that it is just so surface level aesthetics only and nothing more

I mean, the Addams Family has definitely been watered down over the years in popculture into just being the perfect thing for a man like Tim "black people don't fit my aesthetic" Burton to cannibalize and use for his white goth aesthetic fetish, but when the comic first came out it was clearly a labor of love made by a man who literally gave his creation his own family name and while what he was doing was a pretty simplistic inversion of the cliche nuclear family sitcom it ended up revolutionizing the entire genre and leaving a mark on the history of this country to the point that The Telegraph literaly called them one of the most iconic families in American history, up there with the Kennedys and to see them just get crappy adaptation after crappy adaptation these days especially after how well the 1990s Adams Family and Adams Family Values movies were able to bring them back to the limelight and cement their legacy in the popular zeitgeist for a new generation, I just wish there was a way to divorce this family from the formulaic capitalist nonsense that Hollywood has become and bring back that beautiful artistic notion that birthed the Addams Family in the first place, because as it stands to me the Wednesday show looks like someone just decided to take the aesthetic of the Addams Family, turn Wednesday into a goth manic pixie dream girl, separate her from the rest of her family, and then basically just write a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina knockoff, because they know the Riverdale aesthetic and Netflix formula gets you the clicks.

It doesn't feel like someone rebooted The Addams Family because they love the source material, it feels like someone rebooted The Addams Family because they like the way they looked and nothing more
