Oly (Sir Gawain's reincarnation) uses a baseball bat with nails on it for the first part of the adventure. Then she is given a sword. But she doesnt like the sword. So she trades it for an axe (to the enemy's dismay) Oly is your classic atheletic adhd lesbian.

Gwena Mars and Ha Zimo

Gwena and Zimo are the only one who are immune to all magic. (As oppose to Oly who cannot use or possess magic artifacts and weapons or she gets an allergic reaction. Amd Arthur can only handle light magic and not dark magic) Gwena and Zimo are both Acespec. Gwena is the one who carries the magic weapons on her. and Zimo carries the artifacts and nicknacks. Zimo is the only one who can use magic (as he is merlin)

What i wanna know is why anglophone mha fans are fine spelling her name as "magne" because it's a play on the english word magnet despite being written in japanese as "magune", but they insist on spelling mirko (named after a real person that is spelled mirko) as miruko because that's how it's written in japanese. like why. it's either magune and miruko or it's magne and mirko. pick a side

Hey kind of a silly question, but what are the strawhats epithets in japanese? I was especially curious about usopp' GOD title, since it was spelled differently for ener and gan ford in skypeia.

luffy: 麦わらのルフィ/mugiwara no rufi: mugiwara technically just means ‘straw’, but is understood in-universe universally to be shorthand for ‘straw hat’ (麦わら帽子/mugiwara boushi)

zoro: 海賊狩り/kaizoku-gari: ‘pirate hunter’

nami: 泥棒猫/dorobou-neko: literally ‘thieving cat’

usopp: ゴッド/goddo: ‘god’ transliterated

sanji: 黒足/kuroashi: ‘black leg’ or ‘black foot’ (ashi can mean either ‘leg’ or ‘foot’)

chopper: わたあめ大好き/wataame daisuki: ‘cotton candy/candy floss lover/loving’

robin: 悪魔の子/akuma no ko: ‘demon/devil child’

franky: 鉄人/tetsujin: ‘iron man.’ the pronunciation for this one has also been given as サイボーグ/saibōgu (‘cyborg’), but with the same kanji- i believe it shifted to tetsujin after dressrosa.

brook: ソウルキング/souru kingu: ‘soul king’ transliterated

jinbe: 海侠/kaikyou: this is the one that’s famously difficult to translate. kaikyou (海峡) ordinarily means ‘channel/strait’ like the seafaring term, but in jinbe’s epithet the second kanji has been replaced with 侠, which means ‘chivalrous’ and is used in an honorific/euphemistic way to describe a yakuza member (with the word 任侠/ninkyou).

Types of Over Souls

Generally speaking, O.S. can be divided into three categories: Spirit-types, Weapon-types, and Armor-types. Strictly speaking in terms of practicality, the classification of an O.S. doesn't necessarily determine its effectiveness in live combat, but the higher the quality of the O.S. determines its range of abilities and maintenance, making the overall effectiveness of any O.S. largely based on the shaman's individual talent.

**Spirit-type Over Soul: These O.S. usually manifest an apparition corporeally in such a manner as to fully utilize its unique abilities (ie. O.S. Bason, O.S. Kororo-Snowboard).

Weapon-type Over Soul: These O.S. manifest an apparition as a supernatural instrument or armament (ie. O.S. Spirit of Sword, O.S. Kororo-Ikupasuy, O.S. Super Bushin), usually to compliment the shaman's personal fighting style.

Armor-type Over Soul: These O.S. are the most efficient form of Furyoku-based constructs. Armor-types represent the pinnacle of O.S. magic and are the most practical type of O.S. because of their resilient, highly dense Furyoku composition. This method makes them equally formidable in terms of raw power.

Unity-type Oversoul: Also known as "Over Soul Merge", these O.S. are very difficult to achieve due to various factors. Unity-types require both the shaman and their apparition to establish and maintain continuous spiritual synchronization throughout the entire process, which is the sole responsibility of the Shaman. The major advantage of the Unity-type is the unrestricted access to an apparition's nature abilities. The only example of this is Chocolove McDonell's Black Jaguar O.S. with Mic the Jaguar.
