forsython: this bingo is deceptive because it's quite basic but i have a lot to say. i really want to emphasize the comedic potential here because more than anything these two are so fucking funny. canon forsython is hilarious on its own (wa-pish!) but sechoes has some of my favorite additions (like when they visit alm and bring him food and get sidetracked talking about that time forsyth made clive some cupcakes with the little sprinkles on top PEAK COMEDY). and at the same time they feel quite cozy. my idea of the Narratives is forsyth dreaming for the both of them

A polycule could(nt) have fixed them. the wasted potential is mostly directed towards canon sov because really i think fernand's behavior just makes so much more sense if he's in love with clive and mad that he's changing from the man he once loved (WHEN REALLY IT IS FERNAND WHO HAS CHANGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). i'm inconsolable. can we lock him in the bathroom so he can sniff mathilda through the door. i guess if you count sechoes as fanfic this is better in fanfic but i dont feel like marking it off bc i have yet to examine the Clive x Fernand ao3 tag and i dont trust the sov ao3 tag just in general

fayesilque: maybe because i couldnt stand faye in my first sov playthrough (as the average player doesnt i assume) but i went thru her support with silque and was like. Oh my god. she could fix her. She could fix her! And that opinion has stuck to the point where i'm defensive over this ship. monoship? for those two specifically. though there is wasted potential because i think their support chain in sov itself is kind of lacking. sechoes B and A supports- oh my god i only JUST realized faye was talking about celica in the A support.oh my god. its such a small world that's silque's friend from the priory. post cancelled i'm gonna be thinking about this forever.

Watched Trick or Treats (1982) and it may be the worst 80s slasher I've seen that's like, a real movie and not some SOV thing. It's not even a slasher but a comedy with two jokes: the kid a woman's babysitting pretends to be dead, but he's not, and this mental patient escaping. We see the kid trick the woman like six times? It's the only thing that happens? It's the same joke every time???

Then in the last ten minutes it shifts into slasher mode but he only slashes one person and it's an accident??? What was going on here

Put On Your Raincoats | Between the Cheeks (Dark, 1985)

I realize that with pornography targeted towards straight men, a level of objectification of women is inevitable, and I don't think it's inherently a bad thing. (If you're supposed to be enjoying watching people fucking, the movie should try to capture their attractive qualities, even if those are physical.) But I guess I like at least a pretense of characterization when I'm trying to watch these as actual movies. I'm not asking for a lot. Chris Warfield's Purely Physical is just a series of vignettes about people gettin' it on at a motel, but the movie puts in at least a little effort into sketching out the characters as actual people and letting the actors actually act, which goes a long way in terms of imbuing at least a hint of eroticism into the proceedings. Here, the movie takes the point of view of a group of guys discussing the virtues of anal sex with women (as opposed to cats), yet it goes through these women without giving any sense of personality or even much dialogue (aside from the standard moaning and groaning). Some of these performers are undeniably energetic (the highlight is probably Ginger Lynn taking on three dorks), but I had a hard time getting on these scenes' wavelengths.

This is also shot on video, meaning that there's a limit on how good it can look, but this is really sunk by its mise-en-scene. Much of the backgrounds are in washed out, muted colours that bring to mind such cheerful sights as the walls of a doctor's office or a bottle of Pepto Bismol. The production design in the other Gregory Dark movies I've seen has also been deliberately cheap, but the low contrast colour scheme here makes this particularly unpleasant to look at.

I would likely be more charitable towards these elements that are inherent to the director's style if the comedy worked for me, but here it seems much weaker than usual. Dark's movies are frequently vulgar and the furthest thing from politically correct, and his regular collaborator Jack Baker is his usual magnetic, uncouth self, but he has less charismatic co-stars to play off this time around. One actor in particular does a stoopid voice that grinds the movie to a halt every time he opens his mouth.

If you must see a Dark Brothers SOV ode to anal sex, check out White Bunbusters instead.

SO TRUE!! Mituna has always felt tall to me, it’s always weird seeing people make him short, lol. Like, Sov!Mituna is 6’2”, he’s a big fucking guy!

Meulin’s height fluctuates in my brain, I can never decide on a good one for her in general! Her being super short fits to me, but so does her being a god damn tank of a woman, if not just for the purposes of comedy. Lion Meulin Propaganda!

Top 5 favorite films and 5 least favorite films.

One director or actor whose work you find yourself drawn to the most?

You're so mean for asking me this, and you know it...

Trying to create a top 5 favourite film list is the equivalent of torture... I would willingly take the rack and the nipple clamps over having to do this!

So, instead I will list 5 of my favourites as they come to mind rather than agonising over a ranking...

In no particular order:

- Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920)

- The Hourglass Sanatorium (1973)

- Santa Sangre (1989)

- Solyaris (1972)

- Videodrome (1983)

As for least favourite, like with music, I kind of know my tastes, and whilst I will watch anything at least once, there are areas of film I actively avoid... modern rom coms, cute, saccharine comedies, gross out / frat boy comedies... they're not my thing... if I was strapped down a la A Clockwork Orange and forced to watch some, then they would definitely make my list of worst films...

I watch a lot of horror films too, and have experienced some truly terrible films... a glut of SOV cheesy borefests, awful remakes, sequels, reimaginings... soulless cash-ins... I'm also not a fan of those silly CGI saturated jump scare type films, found footage style films don't generally agree with me either... I much prefer tension, suspense and a good script... if a film tries to rely on pushing the envelope on its effects alone, then I'm not interested...

I'm not generally drawn to actors, I mean there are actors who I admire, but they are generally versatile based on what is requested of them by the filmmakers... I am definitely drawn more to directors, as in the end, the film itself is their art... a visual canvas for them to convey their vision...

So, with that in mind, one of my favourite directors is Alejandro Jodorowsky... his films consistently amaze and entrance me... he is such a visual, multi layered director, and this can be seen throughout his entire body of work...
