I forgot to post these pictures while I was on short trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit my older brother, at near international market place called Talin market, it’s almost like Chinese food place, but instead it’s actual food market with Asian grocery along with New Orleans stuff and even caught seafoods. At the same time, me and my older brother took pictures of a stone dragon 🐉 next to market place and even he and I was having fun taken pictures of themself. And most importantly a day later, he just brought me a late birthday gift where I never have them before, Jurassic World Dominion toys such as Quetzalcoatlus the pterosaur from the movie itself and a dinosaur who is not featured in Dominion but rather a big name for JW toys Yangchuanosaurus the carnosaurian theropod. I’m glad I was visited in Albuquerque from very long time since pandemic started. i recently read a post that was like 'false surrender is a war crime and is something obi-wan did all the time. even grevious didn't do that, way to violate the geneva convention jedi' and it got me thinking. i sort of see the clone wars as similar to ww2 where there's leaps in (war) tech and there were huge atrocities that hadn't been seen/recorded before. so there wouldn't really have been a space geneva convention per se. what's your take?

First of all, when people say “false surrender is a war crime”, they generally don’t actually have a great argument about that (see @trickytricky1′s post about why deception in warfare is not the same thing as false surrender) and, second, this is one of the biggest frustrations I have with Star Wars: Where do you draw the line between Watsonian and Doylist issues when it comes to a scene? (Watsonian = an issue within the story, Doylist = an issue from the real world writer.) Generally, I go with the narrative’s intention when talking about scenes from an in-universe point of view, the reactions of the characters, their narrative reliability, the lighting, the music, etc., what all of that tells us about what the story wants us to take away. Which means, in this instance, I am aware that the writers are not always going to be writing things true to actual life, that the writers are imperfect in their understanding of the elements they’re playing with, and that the writers are often going to write some bullshit stuff. But I’m not really talking about those things when I talk about how the narrative doesn’t seem to be implying that Obi-Wan was doing anything terribly wrong. (Side note: That’s not to say that conversation isn’t also worth having! Just that it’s not the same conversation as the one about the narrative.) Not that you can wholly divorce things, either, because: Is the scene saying that the GFFA has a different set of warfare rules? Is the scene generally supportive of Obi-Wan’s actions because the writers don’t know better? Is the scene generally supportive of Obi-Wan’s actions because, you know, it’s actually not a war crime? That’s the questions that are harder to answer. Generally, I think the Star Wars universe operates on viewpoints similar to our own, though, often with the imperfect understanding of such things on behalf of the writers. So, no, I don’t think that the GFFA had a supremely different set of ethos from our own, I think we’re meant to view it in the vein of our own similar ethos. While at the same time understand that it’s a fictional show and what’s being portrayed is often just about what the story needs. Like, is the younger age of some characters TCW meant to be a huge indictment of younger characters being drawn into risky situations? Given how little focus this gets in the story + that the show is aimed at a younger audience, I don’t think so. Does that mean we can’t talk about this issue from a Doylist perspective, that writing this kind of story with these kinds of characters, can have some issues? Of course not! But Doylist problems are not the same as Watsonian problems. It’s similar with the issue of the clones being a slave army--is that something that, we the audience, can see is a thing? Absolutely. Is it something that’s a huge part of the narrative of the story itself? It’s not really a huge part of it. It’s not part of the story within the narrative but instead a problem on the part of the IRL writing itself and comes with a whole lot of failures on the part of that writing. Which is the frustration I have with the whole “Is there a Geneva Convention in the GFFA?” question. It can be a lot of fun to speculate about it, I’m not knocking that joy, I’ll happily participate! But I think it’s more fruitful to first discuss the nature of writing versus the nature of the narrative and that sometimes you just can’t cram a writing issue into being a narrative issue, and I’m generally of the opinion that Space Geneva Convention is one of those things. I don’t think the writers sat down to ask themselves these questions, Star Wars has always been inspired by real world politics, and I think it’s far, far too messy to have a clear-cut answer, other than, “Maybe? Sometimes? The GFFA operates on a different set of moral values?” (This is the worst answer, I’m aware. orz)

As I am rapidly writing yet another chapter for SohA, which is the doc for Secret on his Arm... I will merely say that Aegon gets more unhinged going forward. He is *so done.* 😅

It was not his bed that Aegon woke up in. Not an all together unusual occurence, he'd woken up in lots of strange beds before. But this particular bed was rocking. And there was shouting.

Stone Dragon, however, is an angsty one-shot for my Breakdown series staring Tiny Aegon and even tinier Sunfyre. Don't let the start fool you... it will attack you directly in the feels.

Rocking on to his tiptoes, Aegon reached for the stone dragon on his father's table. He snatched it, squealing in delight as he fell back onto his bottom. He held the stone dragon to his chest.

"Look, Sunfyre!" Aegon held up the stone figure to the golden beast behind him. Sunfyre sniffed at it, head tilting as Aegon giggled, "It's you!"

Continuing on my walk, after the statue of Sanai Hashimoto, I came across another beautiful shrine.

It had a place to do a hand washing ritual and places to pray. To the left of the shrine, slightly hidden by one of the places to pray, was a set of stone steps. Defending up those steps you found yourself in a small clearing where there was another shrine. This one was older and more traditional, with statues to place your offerings. To the left of this was more stone steps. At the top of here was an incredible view over the city I reside. I’m aware that not far from where I was, is a very old graveyard that is known to be haunted and rather creepy at night, I know this because I accidentally stumbled across it one night by accident! Maybe one day I shall travel there again, but it will definitely be in the daytime!
