A TON of my WoF OCs use weapons like swords and spears, and I've gotten people who question the practicality of that. "How would they use a sword on all fours??" WELL, I present to you:

Why don't they substitute their wings for their arms? It'd probably allow more stability than rearing up on the hind legs to make a move. This pose might look a little awkward...? But I think this is plausible. (I'm not a dragon, though, so what do I know.)

And if that's not good enough for you... Rule of Cool.

i’ve said this before, but my ideal fix for magic in da2 would be the introduction of a stealth mechanic

in origins, you’re under more threat because you’re a warden than because you’re a mage, and honestly you don’t spend that much time in civilization that would care (lothering and redcliffe have bigger things to worry about; the dwarves, the dalish, and the people of haven have different views about mages; etc). in inquisition, the circles have fallen apart and everyone is technically an apostate, so none of it matters

but then there’s kirkwall. you spend the whole first act with the threat of templars hanging over you (or your apostate sister) when literally the first thing that gets you into the city is doing magic in broad daylight, in the middle of the gallows.

certain characters react to the fact that you or your companions have magic (feynriel, fenris, even meredith in later acts!!!) and it’s always hard for me to get invested in a mage hawke because of that dissonance. it’s not like you’re supposed to completely suspend your disbelief!! but in act 1 you can do magic in front of the knight-captain and i guess he just doesn’t notice

a stealth mechanic for magic would have a couple different factors:

does a character have line of sight on you (more directly incriminating) or are they otherwise within earshot (raises suspicion but may not immediately alert them)? is it day or night?

what is the disposition of the bystanders? for NPCs it could be easy enough to code something like “people are much more reactive in hightown, in lowtown/the docks they’ll only report you if you’re really obvious, and no one cares in darktown” but of course, it’s over if they’re a templar or a priest

how obvious is the magic? something like mind blast, horror, or even elemental weapons (enchantment exists!!) are much easier to slip under the radar, as opposed to something like firestorm or stonefist. are you casting at range? or are you fighting in melee with your staff blade, or with spells that could just be explained as an effect of your weapon, if it’s tricked out with the right runes. each spell would have a base value that indicates how noticeable it is, and how easy it is to hide that you're actually casting something

being too obvious or getting caught would lead to a game-over screen (or maybe a unique cutscene in act 3, where you get called into the gallows and have the chance to talk your way out of it, because you Are the champion)

if i'm just creating game mechanics for my own fantasy, this would also be the kind of thing you could turn on and off, if you don't actually care about that level of immersion and just want to play a cool magic user. if you use tactics, it could let you select certain behaviors for your companions, depending on the general Suspicion Level towards them

6. My favorite character

I regret to say that. Vyce is maybe possibly my favorite. Cerya is definitely a close second but there is something wrong with my brain and whenever I see a character make absolutely undeniably horrible decisions many times in a row I get heart eyes. I just think he's neat!!! And his whole terrible relationship with Denam compels me. Whatever those guys have going on is insane and also really funny <3

Honorable mention to all the Phoraena sisters though, I'm really enjoying how often they get to interact + how their stories build on each other. I cannot remember how far I've gotten in posting my little screenshots yet, but I did get to recruit Sherri a while ago and got that scene where Olivya and Denam kinda talk her down. It's really fun to see the four of them comfort/interact with/argue with each other with everything that's going on--I feel like it's uncommon to see sibling dynamics with more than two siblings let alone four, so it's fun to see tactics ogre tackle that

19. Favorite headcanon

Speaking of the phoraena sisters!!!! Ever since I picked up Sherri my brain's been trying to piece together how exactly all of them would interact with each other so now I've got this fun convoluted little web which I'm now going to inflict upon the world.

Mostly my take is that I think Cerya + Cistina have really similar personalities (really opinionated + stubborn) while Sherri + Olivya are really similar in a different way (more laid-back, tend to be more passive-aggressive than outright aggressive), and that Cerya + Sherri / Cistina + Olivya would tend to be a little more fond of each other just because they're closer in age.

I also think if they were going to have a vote of "sister most likely to defect to the Bakram army and try to kidnap our dad" it probably would have been in order: Cistina, Cerya, Sherri, Olivya, so it would have been pretty out there when Sherri was the one to go nuts after their mom died. "Most likely to start her own rebel army" was definitely Cerya though. 100% all of them saw that coming and actively made plans around it

Scorpion – Dark Filipino Ginunting with Sheath

Ginuntings are the official swords of the Philippine Marines. Filipino warriors chose them because they could cut through anything and everything! Included is a leather sheath to complete the sword.
