Hard at below them on a plateau was not just a few, but dozens of their teammates building houses, stands, and everything in between! Gorou carried palates of wood on his shoulder. Shenhe moved boulders around with Noelle; even Itto was helping stack logs of various wood. Then there were the likes of Zhongli and Venti raising materials up to people on roofs. This was just a few of man doing their part.

Yanfei:This is certainly grander than last time. There’s a whole work force!

Ayaka:I heard about this domain. Aether mentioned it a long time ago, but said it was far from ready. Guess he found the time.

Hu Tao:Kokomi if you stare any longer at your general you might start drooling. Aren’t you used to seeing him do manual labor.

Kokomi:Hush. This is different.

Yanfei:*points* Hu Tao, you can’t speak considering who’s down there.

Chongyun placed the final stack of bricks against a wall and the wooden support beams to the designated are. With a flushed face and sigh of relief, he wiped sweat of his forehead from his hard work, when a sudden breeze blew past him.

Chongyun:Hmm?

Hu Tao:*holding bottle* Parched?

Chongyun:Oh, thank you. *smiles*

Hu Tao:I was just in the area.

Kokomi:How’d she get done there so fast?

Yanfei:Hu Tao’s limits are a mystery to all. I’m just surprised she’s not handing out coupons for potential work related incidents.

Ayaka:I don’t see my brother down there. Actually, I’m a little shocked they didn’t ask for more help.

Kokomi:Do you know how to build a house?

Ayaka:Okay when you put it like that…

Nilou:They still need to eat though. Maybe we can make snacks.

Thoma comes walking out of one of this finished houses with a platter of sandwiches.

Thoma:I got cold cuts!

Ayaka:Ah, we stood no chance.

Nilou:I’ll take your work for it.

Yanfei:Keqing is probably planning the next site. Amber has to me marking all the spots for lumber, and as far as Aether goes…ah there he is.

The adventure is hard at with Kazuha and Tighnari sawing some plywood wood, before placing it on Albedo’s geo flower to raise it up to the second story. Aether walks away with Tighnari for a moment to a smile garden where they both use dendro to help some sprouts with Collei.

Itto:Yo boss man!

Aether:Coming!

Aether runs over to Itto, Noelle, and Shenhe who stand at each corner of raised, solid rock that would block the view of several windows. Aether stretched his wrist and focused on geo as the four of them run at land mass and obliterate it safely with a mighty strike. Though dirty and tired from the running around, Aether let’s put a hardy laugh with his friends at their teamwork.

Ayaka:You know I think I’m fine with watching from afar.

Nilou:Yeah it’s a nice view. Right Ko- uh Kokomi?

Kokomi:*down below* Who needs healing!?

Aether:Oh! Can you look at wrist?

Gorou:I’d like some aid as well!

Ayaka:Dang she doesn’t miss an opportunity.

Nilou:I’m gonna water the plants! *hops down*

Ayaka:…*looks at fan* Just a little breeze and-

Yanfei:Too dangerous.

Ayaka:I know. *slouches*

Yanfei:I feel the pain. We’ll sit in watch.

Ayaka:Okay…

Aether:*looks up* !? Oh hey you two! Can you find a blueprint chest? *holds map up* its in this area over-

Kokomi:They’re already gone.

Aether:*pulls map down* Oh you’re right. Well I’m sure they’ll get it.

Kokomi:Someone is gonna get hurt.

Aether:Why? I’m sure things will be fine.

The Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument is a swath of more than 240,000 acres of protected public land in northern New Mexico. Much of the monument's land abuts fifty miles of the Rio Grande. There are several several volcanic cones, including the tallest, Ute Mountain (in Colorado) at 10,093 feet. The monument encompasses the awe-inspiring Rio Grande gorge, an 800-foot deep slash in the Taos plateau that dramatically reveals the depth of the lava flows in the area. The Monuments’ two main rivers are the Rio Grande and the Red River. They were among the first eight rivers Congress designated as National Wild and Scenic Rivers. The headwaters of the Rio Grande are fed by the snow melt of the San Juan mountains in Colorado.

The San Luis Valley was ceded to the United States by Mexico following the Mexican–American War. Hispanic settlers began moving north and settling in the valley after the United States made a treaty with the Utes and established a fort in the early 1850s. Prior to the Mexican war the Spanish and Mexican governments had reserved the valley to the Utes. Later in the 19th century Anglo settlers began to settle in the valley and engaged in mining, ranching, and irrigated agriculture. Today the valley has a diverse Anglo and Hispanic population.

The San Luis Valley is the broad, generally flat, valley at the headwaters of the Rio Grande in south central Colorado and far north central New Mexico. The northern portion of the San Luis Valley is an endorheic basin; surface water does not exit this area. Irrigated agriculture is possible in the area due to groundwater and streams fed by the average 100 inches of snow the surrounding mountain ranges receive. The southern portion is drained by the Rio Grande.

There is no clear southern boundary but the term is generally used to include the San Luis Hills of southern Colorado and the Taos Plateau of northern New Mexico. About 50 miles from east to west and about 150 miles from north to south, the valley is bounded on the east by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and on the west by the San Juan Mountains.

The Ancestral Puebloans, also known as the Anasazi, were an ancient Native American culture that spanned the present-day Four Corners region of the United States, comprising southeastern Utah, northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and southwestern Colorado.[1] They are believed to have developed, at least in part, from the Oshara tradition, which developed from the Picosa culture. The people and their archaeological culture are often referred to as Anasazi, meaning "ancient enemies", as they were called by Navajo. Contemporary Puebloans object to the use of this term, with some viewing it as derogatory.[2][3]

The Ancestral Puebloans lived in a range of structures that included small family pit houses, larger structures to house clans, grand pueblos, and cliff-sited dwellings for defense. They had a complex network linking hundreds of communities and population centers across the Colorado Plateau. They held a distinct knowledge of celestial sciences that found form in their architecture. The kiva, a congregational space that was used mostly for ceremonies, was an integral part of the community structure.

Archaeologists continue to debate when this distinct culture emerged. The current agreement, based on terminology defined by the Pecos Classification, suggests their emergence around the 12th century BC, during the archaeologically designated Early Basketmaker II Era. Beginning with the earliest explorations and excavations, researchers identified Ancestral Puebloans as the forerunners of contemporary Pueblo peoples.[1][3] Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in the United States are credited to the Pueblos: Mesa Verde National Park, Chaco Culture National Historical Park and Taos Pueblo.

卓玛 (dolma) - english translation

Originally written and performed by Nima Zeren·Yadong (尼玛泽仁·亚东) for his 2007 album 故乡·卓玛 (homeland · dolma).

"Dolma" is a Tibetan female name, derived from the Tibetan word for the Buddhist figure Tara (སྒ���ོལ་མ, dölma), who is classified as a deity, bodhisattva, or Buddha depending on the sect. She is especially prominent in Tibetan Buddhism, specifically.

Galsang flowers make another appearance! Now that I've learned their significance, I recognize them frequently in Tibetan folk songs. Here's the translation note copy/pasted from 姑娘我爱你/girl, i love you:

Galsang flowers refer to a variety of wildflowers found on the Tibetan plateau, including but not limited to Cosmos bipinnatus (cosmos), Callistephus chinensis (asters), and Potentilla fruticosa (cinquefoils). “Galsang” is Tibetan for “good times/happiness”. They are beautiful but resilient, so they’ve come to symbolize strong women. They’re the city flower of Lhasa.

This song uses 姑娘 throughout, which I translated into English separately as both "daughter" and "girl".

This blog is basically, unofficially, a Jamyang Dolma fanpage, so I'm tagging her cover album that this song appears in, 金色的呼唤 (golden calling), so that they can be collected when I translate more songs from the album.

*A few miles from Taos NM, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge gets it’s nickname from a number of suicides that have occurred since it was built in the early 1960′s. Depending on the source, it is anywhere from 550 to 650 feet off of the floor of the Rio Grande.

Booklet Introduction Description: New Mexico is a land of deep shadows, brilliant sunshine, snow-capped mountain peaks, flat plains, and white gypsum deserts. It is peopled by the Indians, their pueblos, ceremonial, and dances; the Spaniards, their adobe houses, missions, and gay fiestas; the Anglo-American cattle barons, the cowboys riding herd on the range, and their rodeos.

NEW MEXICO FACTS AND FIGURES The New Mexico State Flower is the Yucca; the Tree is the Piñon; the Bird is the Road Runner; and the Motto is Crescit Eundo (It Grows as it Goes). New Mexico contains many relics of the pre-historic Cliff and Cave Dwellers. The Nation's oldest mission, public building, capital city, and highway are in New Mexico. The first newspaper west of the Mississippi, El Crepusculo, was founded at Taos in 1835. Atomic bombs are assembled in the Federal city, Los Alamos. The first man-made atomic explosion took place in a remote section of the Alamogordo Air Base on July 16, 1945. Sheep and cattle raising is the chief agricultural industry.They are grazed on plains too dry to raise crops, then sent to the irrigated regions to be fattened. Cotton is the most important cash crop. As many as five cuttings of alfalfa are grown a year in the irrigated areas. Frijoles -- beans -- are dry farmed throughout the state.

THE STATE AND ITS PEOPLE New Mexico has an area of 122,666 square miles, ranking 4th among the states. It is bounded on the north by Colorado, on the east by Oklahoma and Texas, on the south by Texas and Mexico, and on the west by Arizona. In the northwestern corner of the state is the only place in the United States where four states meet in a common corner. It is divided into four natural regions: Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, Basin and Range Region, and Colorado Plateau. The Rio Grande, flowing through the entire length of New Mexico, is the most important river. Wheeler Peak (13,151 ft.) in Taos County, is the highest elevation. The state had a 1950 population of 681,187, ranking 39th. One-third of the population is Spanish-Americans, who have lived in the country for more than 350 years. There are approximately 41,900 Indians in New Mexico. They have adopted some of the white man's ways, but their tribal laws and customs are paramount.

HIGHLIGHTS OF HISTORY Spanish explorers came from Mexico to what is now New Mexico as early as 1529, in search of gold. In 1540-42 Coronado pushed north as far as Kansas. His expedition was considered a failure, having added no gold to Spain. Sante Fe, second oldest city in the United States, was founded in 1610. It was built on a site that for centuries had been an Indian Pueblo. In 1680 the Indians revolted, driving the Spaniards from the city. They destroyed churches, annulled Christian marriages, and washed the baptized Indians in the Sante Fe River to remove the stain. In 1821 New Mexico became a province of Mexico. In 1848 Mexico yielded her claim in the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, becoming the Territory of New Mexico in 1850. New Mexico was admitted to the Union in 1912.

Sagebrush Songs arises from the northern New Mexico landscape, remote and unique. The area encompasses the Rio Grande rift and the Taos plateau, a desert mesa encircled by the mountains of the Tusas and Sangre de Christo ranges of the southern Rockies. Prominent features include Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico, and Pueblo Peak (locally known as Taos Mountain), source of the Taos Pueblo’s water supply. As a transitional zone between alpine forests and shortgrass prairie, the sagebrush scrubland supports diverse animal and plant communities. Such landscapes and their empty spaces became the primary focus of classical Chinese poetry, with its Taoist and Ch’an Buddhist roots. Sagebrush Songs is my own meditation on northern New Mexico landscapes as manifestations of the Way of all things.

Poet, scholar, fiber artist, watercolor sketcher, and aspiring naturalist, Margaret Lee finds poems in Oklahoma prairies, New Mexico deserts, Oregon seashores, and inner landscapes. Margaret earned a B.A. in History from Seattle University, Seattle, WA; an M.Div. from Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, OK; and a Th.D. from the Melbourne College of Divinity, Melbourne, Australia. Her academic research and publications focus on the ancient Greek language and the history and culture of the ancient world. Her first poetry chapbook, Someone Else’s Earth (Finishing Line Press 2021), builds poems around the surviving fragments of Sappho, “The Poetess” of ancient Greece.
