I hope this isn’t unwelcome but here are a few of my personal Vascete modern AU headcanons:

As a child, Vasco was usually voted as a team captain when playing sports with other kids. Not necessarily because of his sporting ability, but rather because of his leadership qualities and general agreeableness and ease with others.

Machete always uses perfect grammar when he texts, but can take a while to respond. Vasco often responds instantly but with less attention to grammar. Machete texts in unbroken paragraphs (when he has a lot to say) but Vasco’s texts come through in small, sporadic flurries.

Machete is very familiar with hospitals, particularly so in his childhood due to his various medical issues. As a result he actually finds their cleanliness, and the politeness of the doctors, comforting. These experiences also made him more patient than he might otherwise have been.

Vasco donates blood and is on an organ donor registry.

Machete always carries hand sanitiser around and is constantly offering it to Vasco, who always carries hand cream around, and is constantly offering it to Machete.

Both are well-versed in music and have refined musical tastes.

Vasco hums wholeheartedly whilst doing the dishes - a chore Machete likes to avoid where possible. Vasco knows this, so he pretends he doesn’t mind doing them.

Machete often has a headache and Vasco’s usual first response to this is to ask Machete if he’s had enough water today. He’s often right.

Vasco scarcely thinks of the other paths his life could have taken. Though he knows pain, he feels very fortunate for all the good he’s been dealt in life, and attributes his good luck mostly to happy accidents. Machete on the other hand has unexpected moments of stark awareness of all the possible forks in his road. It’s a sudden deja vu that creeps up on him when he’s alone, almost as if he can remember all of his and Vasco’s past/ potential lives together. The feeling vanishes just as soon as it arrives.

Hot dang anon I LOVE these. Unwelcome UNWELCOME? You come to my house and present me with thoughtful interpretations of my characters, I feel nourished.

I can definitely see Vasco being a popular choice for a team captain. He's physically active but not ultra sporty, and even though he can get excited and carried away, he's never been that competitive (he's got that 'I just hope both teams have fun' sort of vibe that people tend to like).

The texting bit is terribly cute. Vasco rapid firing message after message vs Machete intermittently slapping half an essay in the chat.

Machete is hypochondriac and his threshold for seeking threatment is low, especially if he's experiencing anything he's not already familiar with. To my understanding Italy has a good quality universal public healthcare, but he typically chooses to go with private sector anyway and has been investing in pricey health insurance for years (probably way more extensive than what is necessary or reasonable).

I also thought of Vasco as a habitual blood donor. He wouldn't like it per se (medical surroundings unnerve him), but I think he might just get a kick out of being a good boy and potentially helping people. (I know gay, bi and msm men used to be banned from donating (or at least severely restricted) but it looks like many countries have revised their criteria significantly in recent years and there's a good chance he'd be eligible these days.)

The hand sanitizer/hand cream combo is so good. It made me chuckle. (Are you a hand sanitizer person or a hand cream person?)

Their respective tastes in music and cinema have more overlap than you might initially think, and they keep aligning closer and closer over time.

Machete wouldn't like doing dishes. Having to touch wet food (weird texture + unhygienic) is bad times all around. But he genuinely enjoys a little bit of vacuuming, dusting, laundry and general tidying and organizing. He doesn't leave that much for Vasco to do, just the occasional visibly messy jobs that squick him out more than he cares to admit.

That's very considerate of him. That's a very considerate thing to do to anyone in general. Dehydration and low blood sugar can really sour your mood and you wouldn't even notice they were the reason you're feeling so bad all of a sudden. (When I'm having a difficult day I try to remember to ask myself whether things are truly collapsing or am I potentially just a little too thirsty and hungry and unaware of it. Usually it's the latter).

Ah yes, Machete and the horrors. Vasco might be aware of the horrors as well, but perhaps he possesses the specific kind of galaxy brain that is near immune to this particular flavor of existential dread.

You often went out together with Angel and several times he dressed up in a similar style to yours. You attracted a lot of attention, but you were both fine with it. Both of you are used to being the center of attention, so the looks directed at you did not bother either him or you

You and Angel lived and died in different years, but that didn't stop you from getting along great with each other. You both loved being stars, albeit in different fields. It wasn't the only thing you had in common and you communicated better and better every day

Your acquaintance with Alastor happened shortly after he came to the hotel. You were one of the few guests and you took Alastor's appearance calmly, while he watched you with a familiar smile. Your style stood out from the other inhabitants of the hotel, but it wasn't what changed in you in Hell, but what happened to you when you were still alive

You were a singer in the popular vkei band in the 90s. This was your image when you started performing with your friends, and over time you began to use this image even outside of performances. In Hell, your image literally became a part of you, but you didn't mind. You died at the peak of your career and your fame, and your image remained with you even after death

You and Alastor had completely different musical tastes, but you were interested in learning from him about the music of his time. You understood that when he was alive, you couldn't even think about vkei, but you hoped that you could get along despite your differences, and Alastor, it would seem, was not against it

Alastor treated you with interest. Your appearance made his stay at the hotel more interesting and he hoped that this would not be the last thing you changed at the hotel

Sometimes you joked that when the rest of your band died, you would be able to start performing again. You doubted very much that they would not go to Hell, because you knew them well. Lucifer considered this possibility and was even willing to help you arrange your band's concert again. He was interested in listening to your live performance

Millie loved listening to you sing. She was sure that you would be able to achieve your goal and revive your band, and Millie was ready to be with you, both in difficulties and in joy

Stolas knew that his daughter was interested in different music and it was thanks to her that he learned about you. Octavia told him that she had met a sinner who, during his lifetime, was the singer of one of the famous vkei bands of the 90s. His daughter told him a little bit about your band and about you, and he decided that he needed to meet his daughter's new acquaintance

You turned out to be not exactly what he imagined. Even in Hell, you continued to stay in the same style as when you performed on stage. This image almost merged with you, but you didn't mind. Stolas had not communicated with people who looked like you before, but despite your image, you treated him with friendliness and were completely not against talking to him and you both did not notice how you began to communicate more and more

Other members of your band were still alive and you sometimes talked about them and how your concerts were going. Sometimes you remembered your past and sang different songs. You haven't sung all these songs before. You just liked singing. Stolas listened to you sing and didn't notice how you started to smile

Stolas hoped that you would be able to continue to communicate. He liked you, he liked that you didn't care what position he held in society, for you he was just himself, that Stolas whom even his daughter hardly saw him. You saw him as he had never been able to show himself to anyone before

A/N: dumping this now so i will have the energy to finish the other parts. originally a fic but i know i won't give justice to it unless it's a drabble. headcanons are too long so i divided it into parts.

1 - 2

You were an uprising game streamer from Philly. You consistently stream thrice per week, depending on your schedule in Abbott. After gaining popularity (which you gain for being a fiery yet good talker), you tried out playing other games as well.

The only thing about your gamer persona is you don't actually show your face. You did some voice acting gigs back in college so you use that to conceal your real voice. So, no one knows that the popular streamer is the same as the shy, quiet teacher in a public school. 

Everything kind of went down for you when fans were more insistent that you do a face reveal than before, which you jokingly and unintentionally agreed to. 

But going back, it might have all started when you heard Jacob nerding about his current fixation that time. 

You expected the other teachers except Janine to roll their eyes or ignore him but they were actually engaging. Even Melissa and Barbara seem to know and join in the conversation. 

You tense when Gregory mentions your username, asking if it was you Jacob was talking about. When he said yes, you realized Mel and Barb just talked about your gaming persona. You. And hearing those two compliment your gaming persona as well feels surreal because you consider them as your mentors and friends, plus they always give you assurance about how you're doing a great job as a teacher. 

Ava walks in to the door with her mug, complimenting your music choice and fashion, then she stares at the camera after plugging her shop and taste because you bought some from her. 

"I bet she looks Godzilla 'cause why the hell would you hide your face like that if you look Beyonce?" 

That flusters you. You know yourself you're not exactly pretty but definitely not ugly. So in a spur of shock, you countered her statement. Which is going to be your first time. 

You think you're just another Janine for Ava with the way she treats you and calls you nicknames. Not Gregory, or maybe even Jacob. You don't recall if she even knows your name, because at least she knows Janine's. 

So you usually ignore her when she treats you… differently. But now, everyone's eyes are on you. You are usually a lone wolf unless necessary, and Ava must have hit a nerve for you to react. 

"Oh, we got ourselves a fan here. I'm about to think you're actually white." 

You ignore her last remark, and instead challenge her that you can prove her wrong. When she questions if you know the gamer personally, you just warned her to stay put on her feet and watch before leaving the room.

Cedric

He’s being assigned as the judge of this hellscape, even if he shows interested in joining the playtime. The others find his ex – scoia’tael status as basic neutrality, so he should be neutral in his statements. Which in all honesty, is perfectly fine with him because he for one, absolutely despises dancing because he is, to be honest, shitty at it. His go-to song would be Masquerade by Lindsey Sterling, only because it doesn’t have any lyrical lines and it makes it ‘easier to match his struggling to.

Eldain

Compared to others on this list, he’s the more average dancer. Perhaps a little under the ‘average’ rank, but don’t blame him, he always has been more of the musical type than anything else. But he would be damned if he didn’t join. Because someone he loved with his whole heart, would certainly join in on the fun and enjoy every millisecond. Picking a song for him is such a difficult task because he’s going to judge the hell out of it and the worst thing is it’s going to be accurate to the last detail. But if he couldn’t use his own music, he would probably pick a tavern banger e.g., Get out Ye Black and Tans by Derek Warfield or Sweet Dreams remix by Steve Void.

Iorveth

He leans more towards the warm climate of flamenco or tango. These dances match him perfectly, to a bystander it looks like he’s gliding across the dance floor. He’s one of the top candidates to first place, either because it’s genuine skills or he’s threatening the hell out of Cedric. Plus, he is even adding some backstory behind his performance, like it was a Shakespearean spectacle of sorts. Because he’s totally that kind of extra and dramatic. His song must match his dramatics, so his go-to would be El Tango De Roxanne from “Moulin Rouge”. Which when you hear it, you can probably guess who’s getting pissed at Iorveth every time he puts it on the play.

Ciaran

I don’t want to expose his ass out to the world… but he would wish for that he could be truly decent in dancing. He’s clumsy and the type to lose the rhythm in the middle of a dance. Iorveth once tried to drag him into the ‘flamenco/tango’ side. Didn’t work, Ciaran ended up with a sore backside after falling several times. Cedric would probably give him some points for effort and dedication, but that wouldn’t push him up the ranking very much. Ciaran’s the total pop kid in the whole group, he’s song choices would range from the most popular once to e.g., Принцесса (Printsessa) by Babek Mamedrzeaev.

Isengrim

His entry can be described as step dancing. This shithead (not derogatory, we love this man) doesn’t do anything besides step dancing, give him whatever kind of song and this man will find a way to make it match his moves. Not the other way around, he’s not going to give up against a challenge. He’s a master at work when it comes to his moves, his sticks for legs move in perfect sync and rhythm. Out of all of them, he’s competing against Iorveth for the first place, the others sadly don’t make the cut for first place. Don’t eat me for the song choice though, Rasputin by Boney M. is his national anthem from now on! I don’t make the rules, he does.

Yaevinn

Ok, this is probably gonna attract some thoughts, but this man believes himself to be the absolute elite at dancing. Like, he thinks it is so easy as stealing a child’s candy. To be real, he has two left legs with arthritis. He takes three steps and is down like a plank. Also, he’s a sore loser. But he prefers to watch rather than dance anyways, so he ends up sucking it up after being a little salty. His choice when it comes to the song is Котик (Kotik) by Alexander Rybak. Don’t even ask me why it just gives of Yaevinn vibes for some weird reason.

Yoosung Kim with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons

Yoosung hadn’t really taken any interest in musicals before meeting you, aside from vaguely knowing what Zen’s job is like and how much he has to work out. He always takes the opportunity to avoid doing his class work, however, so would be more than willing to watch a couple of them with you! 

He ends up enjoying upbeat musicals and is particularly fond of Hairspray and Hamilton! Yoosung absolutely has a new appreciation for Zen’s work and is so happy to have something else that he can share with you. 

He’s just a student, so he can’t afford extravagant gifts like tickets but he’ll try to get you merch items for your birthday or anniversary such as little posters and badges.

If you’re ever having a bad day, Yoosung will make an extra effort to put on one of your favourite musicals and cook an Omurice with extra love for you. He’ll get under the blanket and cuddle you to make you feel better. 

Zen/Hyun Ryu with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons 

My god, you’re his dream. He won’t have to worry about you thinking his career choice is unstable or pointless because you get it, you understand the appeal and love for musical theatre and the power it can have as an art form.

He’ll make sure you get the best tickets to his performance, and backstage passes to meet any of his co-stars if you’re a fan of their previous works. He doesn’t mind introducing you to them, as long as he’s still your favourite performer afterwards.

You get first dibs when the merch stall opens, and he’ll even try his best to get you any crew-only merch such as T-shirts or hoodies.

Your Friday nights together are spent on the sofa, watching various musicals and discussing them with Zen and how good he would be in the lead role. As well as singing along. There is a lot of singing involved. They aren’t always musicals that he’s been in because he likes to look around and enjoy different shows, but you can guarantee you will be watching a lot of his own DVDs.

He’ll ask you to help him with his lines, which is something you’d both enjoy, and you’re caught frequently duetting various songs with him. He gets really into it, sweeping you off your feet and into a dip. 

He gets extra soft when he hears you singing one of the love songs he’s performed in the shower and will do something embarrassing like singing the other half of the duet with you through the bathroom door.

Jaehee Kang with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons

Like Zen, Jaehee truly thinks she hit the Jackpot with you. She’s so happy to have a partner equally excited over musical theatre as it’s her main interest and form of escapism. 

The majority of your time spend unwinding together would be with one of Zen’s musicals on the TV. Jaehee is also interested in musicals from other countries, because then the both of you can talk about how well Zen would perform as certain characters, or how great his voice would sound singing a particular song. 

The absolute intensity when it comes to Ticket drops cannot be overstated, you’re both sitting there with a laptop and phone each- ready for the counter to drop and you’re each logging in. Jaehee’s more experienced so she goes for the seats you Want and you go for the seats you’ll settle for assuming that Jaehee didn’t get the priority ones in time. 

There aren’t dramatic duets or anything like that because Jaehee isn’t a loud person, but she enjoys quietly singing to herself and having you come up behind her, holding her waist and singing with her.

Jumin Han with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons

Jumin has never really seen the appeal of musical theatre, and any interested that he had in it was entirely dowsed by his annoyance for Zen. He prefers more ‘refined’ forms of live performance so it would take a few attempts before he’s willing to watch a DVD with you. 

He doesn’t mind it as much as he initially thought, but he’s not a fan of the more bawdy shows. He prefers melancholic stories with ballads such as Les Misérables. He’s much more interested in you enjoying yourself and him getting to enjoy your company and seeing you happy.

He’d gift you Priority VIP package seating with a Meet and Greet whenever there was a new show touring that you wanted to see: much to Zen’s annoyance that Jumin can just buy anything he wants with money, and then Jumin reminding him that Zen wouldn’t have a job if people didn’t pay to watch actors perform.

He’s a little bit jealous that you have something you can talk to Zen about more than him, so he definitely tries to apply himself more to the shows you’re the most interested in so he can talk to you about it and not feel upstaged.

Bonus: he was initially intrigued about CATS the musical because he thought maybe it would be actual cats, and then was promptly horrified by what he saw.

Saeyoung Choi with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons 

Little known fact but Seven does actually enjoy musicals. He doesn’t really have a lot of time to watch things like that, but when you want him to spend time with you and pick one he does he’ll always put a stupid one on. His favourite? Shrek the musical.

He definitely prefers the comedic shows, but if you want to watch something sad then he’s fine with watching that to since he’ll be glancing at you for the most part anyway. He likes watching you enjoy the things you’re passionate about.

Besides, if he can sense a sad part coming up or notices that your lip has started to tremble, he’ll do a big, dramatic but supposedly nonchalant yawn and wrap his arm around your shoulders.

This man absolutely belts out all the songs that he likes, and will also frequently pull you in to duet with him, whether you’re busy or not. he’s also someone that definitely sings to himself in the shower, but has no shame about it, so will just sing Candy Store from Heathers at the top of his lungs. 

[GOOD ENDING] Saeran Choi with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons 

Saeran had never seen a musical before, the closest thing he’s seen are holiday choirs at the cathedral, but he’s very looking forward to experiencing something new and getting to share in one of your precious hobbies. 

You decide to watch Phantom of the Opera together, since it was one of your favourites and a very popular one, so something good to start with. It was also very visually pretty to look at, so you thought Saeran would enjoy it. Which he does! So far, his favourite songs are ‘Think of Me’ and ‘Music of the Night’.

He tells you with a smile that Ray is enjoying himself, even if he is crying for The Phantom. Saeran eyes also water slightly towards the end of the Final Lair scene, so you cuddle a bit closer to him.

Saeran really starts enjoying musicals, and you catch him humming a few songs to various ones he likes whilst he’s cooking or tending to the garden.

He’s not really a fan of big Broadway ones, much preferring ones with softer music that are less in-your-face. He wouldn’t mind going to see a musical in person in the future, if there are any you particularly want to watch or if Zen wants people to come to see his performance. 

Jihyun Kim/V with an MC who loves musicals Headcanons

V has a lot of connections in the Art world, and people who feel indebted to him, so he would be able to get you early access to tickets as a gift. He’s so happy that you’re sharing another piece of yourself with him, so he will treat it with upmost respect.

He enjoys musicals, but like Jumin, he doesn’t particularly care for bawdy or overly dramatic ones. He is, however, fond of the ones that Zen’s in from when he used to watch them with Rika. So whilst he’s tentative to watch them again, he wants to replace the negative connotations with ones made entirely of you. 

He prefers older shows, since the more modern Broadway and West End ones are a little too much for his taste, but he’ll watch any that you want him to. He appreciates the artistry behind every performance and he feels as though he understands Zen a little bit better again, and he’s thankful for it.

If he hasn’t opted for his eye surgery, he’d prefer a seat close enough that he can still more or less make out what is happening on stage but V can enjoy the music and the atmosphere regardless.

Headcanons for ghosts listening to music by artists that are from the same time period as they were from? Eg Pat with Queen, Thomas with Beethoven and maybe Kitty with Handel or Bach.

This has been sitting in my ask box a long time and I finally decided it was time to give an answer I consider unsatisfactory rather than leave it there forever. The primary answer is that I don’t actually know a lot about music history outside of the periods of 1930-1990 in the US (the only bits I’ve ever had to teach) and 1960-1980 in the UK, concentrated on rock in that case (the only bit I’ve researched for myself),which are precisely the bits that don’t apply to this question. So it’s difficult for me to give specifics.

For the ones I can answer: Julian I think likes the sort of sexy R&B and Hip Hop songs that were popular in the early 90s. He sings Boyz II Men’s ‘I’ll Make Love to You’ for Music Club (which I’m pretty sure actually came out the year after he died). I feel like he would have really liked R. Kelly (yuck, but I doubt Julian would have minded), but Julian died a few months before his first album was released. If you want to go into some earlier stuff, in the 70s and 80s Marvin Gaye was probably a big one for him. “Sexual Healing.” “Let’s Get It On.” There are lots of options for him with Marvin Gaye. 

Pat I feel like is one of those people who is really into pop music- see his excitement over Kim Wilde- and pop everything- see his movie tastes- and so you’d probably find his choice of music on the Top 40 charts of when he was alive. So there probably was some Queen in there. Probably Wham! Phil Collins. Stuff like that. 

The Captain’s musical interests I think run between show tunes (see the Major General Song) older songs that were popular with military bands in his time (see It’s a Long Way to Tipperary) and the sort of jazzy music that was popular in the thirties and forties, which you hear a sort of hint of in the score in Reddy Weddy. I personally headcannon that he has a hit-or-miss soft spot for jazzy romantic songs and he can’t figure out why he likes some and not others, but if he was capable of that much introspection, he’d realize that he only likes the ones where the genders of the parties involved aren’t mentioned. I particularly think of Frances Day singing “Did You Ever See a Dream Walking?”

Once we get before 1930, though... I really don’t know. There was popular music in Edwardian times, but I don’t know anything about it, so I can’t speculate much on Fanny. I feel like Thomas and Kitty both would have been covered by what might be considered ‘parlour music,’ so there would have been the big classical composers in there, the Handels and Bachs, but also a lot of regional music, thing ‘traditional English song’ type things, and also classical composers that are less well known than the Handels and Bachs now but where were popular at the time and then before that... Kitty seems to have been very sheltered, so I doubt she probably ever saw any of the large orchestral pieces, because I doubt anyone ever bothered to take her to the sort of place where you might find an orchestra, so she’d be limited to the sort of think that might be played by a pianist or a string duo/quartet that could be brought in-house (in the sort of event we saw in the Thomas Thorne affair, which were common enough through the Georgian/Regency period). Thomas could have seen the larger pieces, but I don’t know what either of them would have preferred.   

And then as for anyone one who came before that, I have no ideas at all... music-y people, do you know any of the answers???

Also, not sure if this has been asked previously, but do you have any favorite music headcanons for the Silver Squad (including Ria)? First of all, you are absolutely right with Attila and country. 🤣🤣🤣 one hundred and ten percent. I actually think he listens to a combo of country and punk though. (There is a band called Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, they do a lot of punk covers of popular songs and I swear so many of their songs just give me Attila vibes 🤣, they’ve even done some punk covers of country songs…and I think if Attila himself was a song, he would be a punk cover of a country song 🤣🤣 if that makes sense 🤣)

Hun I think is more into punk and metal - his hairstyle just screams punk rock to me 🤣 and maybe Hun is the reason that Attila got into it.

I feel like Tyson is more into classic rock - especially like 70s/80s stuff for some reason I just get that vibe

Ria mostly listens to cheery, bubblegum pop type stuff, old and new, with a little punk/rock as well once she starts working with/hanging out with them. She’s got a more friendly and sweet personality, but her tastes in pokemon and clothing tend to lean more towards “cool” than “cute” and I think her music tastes would reflect a little of that as well.

I have this weird headcanon that Sebastian plays an instrument because it’s good for dexterity and he does need to use his hands a lot as an inventor. I keep going back and forth between the violin and the piano, but related to that I think he would be very well versed in classical music and even jazz, easy listening type stuff. I could see him having that playing softly in the background while he is working or something lol.

I’m not quite as decided on Pierce yet, my headcanons on him are not as developed as the rest of them since he was introduced into the anime years later than the rest of them, and I haven’t had as much time to think about it 🤣

I was thinking of making a Spotify playlist for each of them at some point, just like 10 or so songs that I think they listen to or songs that remind me of their aesthetic. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. 🤣 if I do I’ll be sure to share them.

Coach:

Loves kids? Like, we know he changed careers because his injury meant he couldn’t play football anymore, but I think in the end he actually liked his new gig better

Has a name but is just more used to being referred to as Coach and also didn’t want to reveal it because he didn’t know how long these idiots would stick around (and by the time they were full found fam it was just funnier not to)

Widower - was married for 20+ years but his wife died a few years before the events of the game. Due to fertility issues they had no children

Suuuuuuper protective of the others? Total dad friend, would always be the first to go back for a fallen comrade. Is friend-shaped

He’s also hug-shaped. Coach gives the best hugs, he’s a real physically affectionate guy, and he will not be stopped

Besides sports, he is also really into (rock) music and board games. Biggest regret about the Apocalypse is he can’t play chess anymore

Also super good at cooking? He’s the designated team cook, give him some corned beef and half a can of baked beans and Coach will make you a delicious feast

Rochelle:

Honestly was better than most people at her job, definitely a bit of a workaholic. Sometimes she has a hard time letting loose

L... lesbean - had several relationships before but wasn’t in one when the Apocalypse started

Definitely knew how to handle a gun already before shit went down. Going to the shooting range was a hobby of hers (perfect way to de-stress). Other hobbies include writing, watching reality television and jogging. She was also definitely in a book club

She is one of those ‘silent anger’ types. She’ll be the first to engage in witty banter or sarcastic jabs, but piss her off for real and it’ll be a deadly storm coming you way and you won’t even hear it coming

She’s definitely the planner of the group. She is down-to-earth and realistic, and also remembers EVERYTHING so the others do occasionally rely on her to keep them in line. Their team doesn’t have a leader, but Rochelle comes closest to serving as one.

Actually sucks at first aid. She has had the fortune of not being in many scrapes or accidents in her life, but it did have the side-effect that Coach had to teach her how to patch herself (or others) up

Her family is not from the area and in fact she has no idea how they’re doing or how to contact them. She’s very worried about them, but knows she won’t ever be able to find them if she’s not alive to do so

Ellis:

As much as he doesn’t want it, he’s the baby of the team. That’s just how it is, he can not change this. He can handle himself just fine but that won’t stop the others from thinking it

Definitely has untreated ad(h)d of some kind? This man is a force of chaotic energy you can not comprehend. His attention span is also all over the place. Has an unhealthy need to be liked by people at all times or he will combust

Knows how to ride a horse, knows how to ride a cow, probably would try to ride a goat if given the chance

Was an only child but was very popular among his friends

Ironically did not know how to shoot a gun before things went down, but played video games and also watched Keith shoot cans sometimes (the sound of the gun is very bothersome for him) and he’s a quick learner

But for this reason, he will always prefer melee. Weapon of choice will be the baseball bat but he’s handy with anything 

Speaking of handiness, as a mechanic Ellis is great at fixing up shit and the others are internally grateful he’ll keep the electricity running. Thanks to Keith and their wild adventures, he’s also great at first aid

Nick:

Convicted felon, conman, and known crook. Served a grand total of six months in the slammer, but he doesn’t talk about it. Absolutely has killed before but gotten away with it

Had a bad childhood, bad family, joined gangs at an early age. He dabbled mostly in petty theft and vandalism before upgrading to actual organized crime, but went solo because he doesn’t like people

Trust issues central. Partly because of the above reasons, partly because he’s just a pessimist and doesn’t believe people will stand for anything but themselves when the world ends. He takes the longest to warm up to the others

After he does, he’s definitely ride or die though. They all have each others backs, but Nick is the only one who would gladly shank a guy for even looking at his team funny

Likes gambling but often loses money when he’s not cheating. His less detrimental hobbies are visiting bars, traveling and sailing. He’s a boat boy and knows how to operate one

Rich through unsavory means, Nick has expensive tastes and his biggest adjustment about the Apocalypse is the lower living standard. Hates the lack of toilet paper and will not shut up about it

Germaphobe. Hates gross things, hates gross smells, hates anything gross except blood (and that’s just because he’s used to it). Pukes pretty easily, all things considered

Married young and stayed with his (ex-)wife for 7 years. He really loved her, she... did not exactly return the sentiment. In the end she cheated and they divorced, but Nick is mostly over it, just bitter

3. Who is the most romantic?: You are, at least in the more traditional sense. You know of the ins and outs of bouquets and traditionally romantic candle-lit dinners and all that jazz. Dewey is, too, but he’s far less capable of actually pulling it off. The times he does, there’s always a hint of Dewey in them -- for better for for worse.

He runs a bath for you? Adds a little too much bubble mix and then there’s a whole thing about cleaning it up. He cooks dinner? It comes out a bit burnt. Add candles into that mix and the fire department has to have a talk with y’all about fire safety. Really, his safest bets were to stick to buying bouquets, chocolates, and stuffed animals. But after a point, you started to run out of vases and pots to put the flowers in, resorting to using old Burger King cups; and the bed was just barely big enough to hold both you and Dewey at once, never mind the assortment of plush puppies, teddy bears, and the cheaply-stuffed jumbo snake he’d miraculously won at Coney Island a while back.

The good news is, you’d honestly much prefer Dewey’s idea of romance because it’s more personal to you.

For Dewey, it’s romantic to teach you how to play an instrument. Not in the cheesy, “Come sit on my lap because I can guide you a lot easier that way” kind of way, mind you. Don’t take it the wrong way, he could also do just that if you insisted such. But he does so as though you were truly his student -- and you absolutely are. And that’s what makes it sweet: He’s sharing with you his biggest passion in life, and he takes it seriously enough to get really into it and want to sincerely pass it on to you. Dewey is an excitable man, it’s difficult to catch him in a moment where he’s particularly still; even rarer when he’s doing so and in an actually good mood.

And when he’s teaching you one of the very few things in life he knows absolutely best, he’s definitely in a good mood. Even if his expression may not directly suggest so, with his eyes completely focused on your positioning and occasional correction of your finger placement. But the moment you pull off a successful set of chords, that adorable smile of his comes shining through and beaming with absolute pride! It is, for lack of better word, a bonding experience. And that’s what makes it romantic in your humble opinion.

That, and at least Dewey’s idea of romantic can mean a nice night in where you can relax and just flop on the couch to watch crap TV instead of putting on “stiff fancy clothes” and having to leave the apartment. In your minds, very little can beat a comfy evening full of marathoning Let’s Plays in your makeshift pajamas and scarfing down food bought from the bodega two blocks down, especially after a rough week. And especially when one or the other plays with each other’s hair . . .

7. What do they get up to on a night out?: That being said, you’re still dating Dewey Finn: Eventually, you do need to go out and “taste fresh air” as Dewey dramatically puts it.

You two are gluttons for entertainment. You tried the whole gig of just going out for dinner at a fine dining establishment, followed by a bit of a walk (but not too long, this is still New York after dark after all). You both tried to enjoy it, too, but it honestly just wasn’t your scene. Besides, the portions were way too small for something costing upwards of $25 per plate.

The good news about having a boyfriend like Dewey is that he always has his fingers on the pulse of the city. If we’re going with my headcanon that everyone lives on Staten Island, then there’s no shortage of venues or events to explore! The limits are only set by the limits of your wallets! . . . Suffice to say, it’s not just a personal choice that you two usually just go to bar and grills that hold band nights.

But once every blue moon, after saving up, you both go crazy and head over to Manhattan to catch a show. You’re admittedly more into musicals than Dewey is (especially ones written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber), but there has been the occasional show that Dewey didn’t mind watching, and even found himself mutter-singing the lyrics to. Granted, because a night like this can be pretty pricey (especially on an extracurricular teacher’s salary mixed with your own), these sorts of nights don’t tend to happen too often.

And sometimes the urge to go out is accompanied by that grossly exhausted feeling where it’s like all your meats are essentially weighing down on your bones. But you haven’t done anything fun all week, you just gotta get out the house and get Out There! . . . To the 24hr pizzeria next door, because that’s about as far as the two of you can get.

Apparently at some point after you turn 21, just going out after 8pm can make you feel like a hell-raiser. And that’s good enough for y’all.

29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?: You bring out what the other wants and needs.

When you were growing up, you were quite quiet. Being looked at by a bunch of people always made you anxious, you were constantly afraid to make sudden moves, lest there may be some backlash. You’ve gotten better since then, but even still, you struggle with being as open and forthcoming as you would like to be.

And that’s where Dewey comes in: With Dewey, you always feel like you can stand a little taller, be a little louder. There’s something about him that encourages people to break out of their shell (at the very least peek out of it) and make them want to just seize the day. As his significant other, you are absolutely no exception. Watching him confidently approach nearly every task with a can-do attitude makes you consider that maybe you can do the same thing. If you want to civilly but firmly tell somebody off, Dewey’s there to support you. If you need to ask for help with something but are too afraid to, Dewey’s got your back.

Of course, he sometimes oversteps and just does it for you himself, with him seeing any slight against you as a complete injustice that he needs to defend your honor over. In which case, you’re usually thankful, but gently tell him that you need to do this on your own. And he will respect this because it makes him remember that this is your journey towards gaining more confidence in yourself. You’re so very special to him, and far be it from him to keep you from accepting that more and more. So when he invigorates you and makes you want to be and do better, you can’t help but want to always be with him: That way, you can be better for him, yourself, and also your future together.

As for Dewey, it’s whenever you ground him and help him grow as a person and listen to him. Dewey’s never been that popular -- and he knows it. Sure, he may seem completely invincible, but the truth actually is that deep down he’s got some insecurities about himself. His brashness got him kicked out of his own band, his immaturity nearly lost him a friend and got him into legal trouble, girls have never been particularly drawn to him, and it’s quite easy to assume that he’s an imbecile because of his one-track mind with regards to music.

As a result, he’s used his dream of becoming a rock god as a means to promote himself and that swagger he gives off so much. Which then creates a cycle of him making more mistakes after overestimating his competency. The problem is that even though people may tell him to stop, they haven’t always offered him help with how to do exactly that. The truth of the matter is, yelling at somebody doesn’t exactly help the situation; maybe it brings a person to realizations over what needs to be done, but rarely does it actually offer the tools necessary to get beyond that.

The irony here is that for as chaotic as Dewey can be, he’s a surprisingly good listener to those whom he sees insecurities in, especially kids. After discovering he has a knack for it, he’s become more than willing to sit somebody down and try to help them realize their potential, even if it isn’t always intentional on his part. And that’s where you come in.

You’re more patient than he is, so your impulsivity or lack thereof is a great counter to his, making sure that he remembers that sometimes things need to be planned out. Steps need to be taken in order to follow through with certain projects or goals, we can’t always just jump to it. With you, Dewey’s become more orderly with things. Not extremely, mind you, as that would destroy the man’s personality as we know and love it. But just enough to where he’s not as risky as he used to be.

In addition to this, you’re willing to listen to him and his thoughts on things, from his obsession with music to the anxieties he usually tries to keep tucked away deep down. It doesn’t necessarily borderline being therapy, but it’s enough to where airing things out help him feel more stable. Besides, not everyone is as taken to music as he is: It’s nice to be heard, even when it’s just over one’s special interest. Finally, like you with him, Dewey likes to observe you. It’s not always obvious, given that his hyperactivity sometimes distracts him or just appears to. After all, it’s hard to imagine the guy who dances when he’s excited actually paying attention to you when you’re just sitting on the couch, sketching.

But he is. Because watching you being able to keep still and let yourself breathe makes him want to do the same. He’s spent so much of his life thinking he needs to live fast that he never considered maybe slowing down a bit might be good. But now he has. And he wants to. He wants to slow down and grow up for you -- no, with you. And ever since he realized that this was something he wanted, he couldn’t help but love you a little more every time he found that familiar, warm feeling in his chest, making goosebumps rise to his skin.

How about a few Zoe headcanons? (you had me at panini press)

(Anyways I got an 82 on that test I’ve been crying about studying for for two weeks, so my grades are saved!)

-Zola Henshaw is a 27 year old artist, musician, and filmmaker living in a Tacodale cottage, though she has lived in multiple cities in the past. Going by the stage name, Zoe Chrysanta, she travels all over Flipline putting on art shows and concerts alike, making her a popular figure in Indie media. She is currently looking for an idea location for the cafe she wants to own while working to find herself. It’s worth mentioning that one of the menu items she wants to add is a tomato and cheese panini.

-It’s no secret that Zoe could give the Cheeseria a run for its money with her amazing paninis, especially since she carries a panini press in her bag. Other times, she swaps it out for toaster ovens, waffle makers, air fryers, and even an orange Kitchen Aid. She loves cooking on the go, especially when waiting in a long line. Everyone else is freaked out by this, but they won’t say no to free food.

-Zoe is a calm and laid back individual with a few traits of a true hipster, such as hating mainstream media and preferring unrecognized artists or literature. She hardly ever gets mad or fazed by anything, but this is probably due to her always spacing out or ignoring anything she doesn’t like. She has no sense of boundaries or personal space either, as she once basically kidnapped Nevada I when she wanted them to hang out together, ignoring how Nevada just wanted to stay around her family that day. All in all, Zoe is your cool wine aunt, but prepare for her to drag you into taking a 78 hour hike with only paninis for sustenance.

-Zoe has 14 siblings in total, one living in each Flipline town (including an autonomous region that I made up for some of my OCs). She moves around staying with each of them for a few months at a time when she’s looking for a change. She’s not that close with any of them, but they’re all supportive of any dreams she has. As for her parents, they still live in Tacodale and are exasperated with her constant moves, but they won’t say anything about it since they hate conflict.

-She picked up many odd jobs over her travels, including waitressing, painting, reception, dancing, hairdressing, and architecture. She became a singer and artist since she realized that no matter where she went, everyone seemed to have an affinity for any kind of music and art. She’s most inspired by celebrities from the 1930s-1970s and traditional African art.

-She enjoys using big words, but she often doesn’t know what they mean. This sometimes leads to her saying things like “The weather this evening is absolutely photosynthesis, is it not?”. Lyrics like this also make its way into her songs, but they’re great meme material.

-Her guitar was gifted to her from Duke Gotcha, Foodini, and Shannon, who all bought it for her as thanks for babysitting their son. Because of this, the news station is now one of her favorite shows on TV.

-She used to babysit a younger Hacky Zak back when she lived in Powder Point. He picked up her sense of style and her quirkiness, which has evolved into him somehow gaining teleportation powers. They hang out a lot now since she doesn’t really have any true friends. Duke Gotcha is concerned with how strange his son now dresses and acts, so he’s thinking that maybe Marty was a better choice for babysitting.

-She can probably bench press more than Whiff could ever dream to do. I mean, she carries around kitchen appliances all the time with little pain, so that’s gotta add some good upper body strength.

-She’s kinda got a thing for Hugo. It’s mostly because of his taste in the same vintage records she loves, that and the fact that she loves how cool his sunglasses are. Hugo also returns these feelings, but the both of them can’t seem to find the time or courage to ask one another out, which makes Janana and the Shakers tease him endlessly.

-Her favorite breakfast food is definitely two of those giant store bought blueberry muffins with the sugar sprinkled on top.

-Okay as it was for Mitch, sorry I had so much trouble trying to make her interesting but anyways I’ve been pulling an Allan and have started watching Grease nonstop

Personal trikey plot headcanon:

Call me old fashioned or just a sucker for a slow, awkwardly dysfunctional descent into romance, but when it comes to my ideas of a semi realistic/workable ending for Mike and Trevor blows through like an icy wind on a warm summer afternoon, like you’ve walked around Costco and hit the fridge storage room, the customer one, you’re relieved to not be hot yet kinda upset at how opposite it is to the point you’ll hop around the doorway just to balance yourself out. That’s the premise of my headcanon.  2015 starts like any other at the De Santa household, brief morning arguments about Tracey’s life choices and her on/off flings with the college professors of all her classes, yes, ALL OF THEM, while she’s not flirting it up with Franklin since his wealth means he can chill at home with Chop and Lamar and the last thing he wants is to listen to L bitch all day about why he ain’t a 3 bit gangster yet so Frank hangs at their place to sit quietly by the pool next to his future daddy in law and not have to destroy his ears with music to drown out his besties moaning (All that time at the De Santa’s means he gets to know everybody and develop a crush on Tracey which eventually leads to babies and public screaming matches because she cannot live without drama or dick) .  The money following the union depository heist (If we assume the timeline of the final few missions rounded off around mid to late 2014) has come through after being washed via Lester’s numerous amount of fronts (Usually it wouldn’t take more than maybe a week, three tops, but the millions they pulled obviously required extra people, extra roads to travel, extra everything) and the family are in the green once again, however, the lack of worry over money gives everyone time to reflect, to make important changes in themselves and their lifestyles, well, some of them, not all.  As you can guess, the thrill of the chase being gone brings back Michael’s...issue, if you catch the drift and the deeper psychological reasons as to why create tension, release topics of conversation he never wanted to have ever again or prod using the longest of fucking sticks known to mankind.  If it isn’t sex, it’s the lack of general affection between him and Amanda being incredibly evident, painfully so, to the point they might as well be brother and sister because no married couple hug like they do, no happy person in a semi working relationship wakes up eager to pull the covers and see just the indent of their partner (Unless you’re one of the rare types who have S/O’s and just like bed space in the morning). Anyway, the talk finally bubbles to the surface, that now is the best time to divorce as the kids are grown up and they have money again and everything is sorta settled already, it’s just packing their bags and heading out, which is how the tears start cus neither of them wanna push the button, neither wanna make it official or make that call you dread while knowing it’s the least painful option for everyone, even those you ain’t met yet.  Michael gets himself a lil Vespucci condo (You know the ones with the cute bridge over the water), Amanda is given the house in the settlement and later sells it because she can’t deal with the memories and just moves into the hills (She buys one of the homes similar to Martin Madrazo’s but still close to the city), taking Tracey because no way is she living with Franklin just yet, and Jim sorta hovers, couch hopping because he’s having a rough time accepting his parents have broken up and work. He eventually bunks at Lamars and they become platonic love bros.  Come September, Mike starts giving into the questions plaguing his sexuality and ditches the gentlemen club for Leather-Face’s (Popular gay bar based around leather clothing and a really poor choice of name given to it by the owners brother who loved horror movies and ironically died when a Pomeranian bit his leg and it got infected, leading to septic shock and heart explosion), seeing if his lack of ability to be fully intimate towards women stems from an underlying homosexuality which turns out to be less than helpful as despite his new love of boppy music and sparkly fishnet tops, the touch of a man that isn’t Trevor proves to be just as lacking, just as lonely as that of a woman, given a few exceptions (He can get a lil hard to nude mags but it’s sorta a fluctuating mood spectrum) which tend to be just even more confusing and gets him in trouble with anybody interested in him.    Eventually, everything just comes to a semi climax when, with help from friends, Michael gives into his overall infatuations and comes out to Trevor, completely, asking for a date or “Hang out, but it can go ANYWHERE”, Trevs usual for just about anyone he meets ‘Insert cheap laugh here’. and gets understandably told to go fuck himself because why now and after all the pain he’s caused and blah blah Trevor’s hurt, this is opening wounds, big pity party for Mr Philips.  It takes a good deal of arguing and crying to convince his buddy to trust him but after....a month? two perhaps, Trevor eases up and they have their first terrible attempt at romance in the form of a movie at the condo and some fancy ass wine too good for both their tastes, but it leads to a cute, disgusting, hella gay half smooch and some giggles, plus some deep convo that opens M up to a chance at second base but Trevor teases him with the whole “Going easy on you, since it’s your first time” and heads home, forcing M to scream into his pillow and call Amanda cus they besties now.  Overall the headcanon is a slow progression into Mike realizing he’s somewhere on the mostly Aromantic/asexual spectrum with the exception of those he’s in love/obsessed with (Remember when Amanda said he got big balls when Brad tried to get her, it was mostly infatuation, Alpha dogging it) and being in love with Trevor, getting the life he tried to have before but properly this time, accepting himself and being sorta better but not really but also kinda.  Yes I know “MICHAEL WOULD NEVER----” Really don’t care, Honey, my headcanon, don’t like it, the doors to your...’Looks around’---WHERE IS THE FUCKING DOOR!

Basically, that entire list I wrote applies but each of the above would react differently to the scenarios, so I basically picked some out and made them more specific to who was Dorothea’s partner.

I added Mercedes later so I made a separate post of headcanons for her with Dorothea, but most of the same situations. You can find it here if you want!

PHYSICAL AFFECTION

Dorothea, in all pairings, starts off as the one to usually be the person to initiate kisses, hugs, hand-holding, etc.

Petra quickly becomes one to initiate such things though as well since she knows Dorothea’s naturally an affectionate person, and she enjoys seeing Dorothea smile whenever they do any of those things.

Byleth isn’t shy about physical affection though not as expressive with it in public, but sometimes she initiates physical affection – particularly hand-holding – without realizing or meaning to.

Edelgard is reluctant and shy with physical affection and also not used to it at all. Dorothea finds the latter a sad fact and likes to wrap Edelgard into hugs and give her kisses when they’re alone. She respects that Edelgard isn’t as openly affectionate, especially not in front of others, and Dorothea restrains herself more when they have company. She will at least give a quick kiss on the cheek though. Edelgard usually blushes whenever any physical affection takes place.

Ingrid is ungraceful and gets flustered by physical affection though doesn’t dislike it with Dorothea. Like Edelgard, Ingrid also blushes a lot whenever physical affection is initiated and often by Dorothea. She does later try to be the one to initiate holding hands, hugs, kisses but sometimes Ingrid overthinks by accident, ends up making herself too anxious, backs out last second. Dorothea finds it adorable and is the one to follow through. Dorothea is also most often the person to initiate such things throughout their relationship.

SINGING

They all love her singing and she loves singing for whoever her partner is. No matter who her partner is, they always attend her performances that she puts on at the opera.

Upon arriving in Brigid, Dorothea learns of Brigid music and songs and learns some that she sings to Petra once she gets a better grasp on her pronunciation of the language.

Byleth never really heard Dorothea sing much during their time at Garreg Mach or during the war until they were married and living their lives together. Dorothea’s voice is Byleth’s favorite sound and she’s always eager to hear Dorothea sing.

Though embarrassing, Edelgard is still flattered when Dorothea sings her praises, which Dorothea does from time to time when they’re together if only to make Edelgard blush. After the restoration of the Mittlefrank Opera when she finally allowed Dorothea to put on the opera she wrote about her and the war, Edelgard is mesmerized by Dorothea’s voice. She’s heard it before, but never in that capacity and it’s at that moment she realizes her feelings for Dorothea.

Ingrid is always focused on her knighthood and improving herself as a fighter, but an offer to hear Dorothea sing is typically enough for Dorothea to get Ingrid to take a break.

DANCE

Petra is better versed in Brigid’s way of dance than Fodlan’s while it’s the opposite for Dorothea. They like to teach each other how to dance in their respective homeland’s styles.

Edelgard has training in dance and she’s fairly confident when it’s practiced steps, but when it comes to improvising her confidence plummets and she thinks too much about what she’s doing rather than going with the flow.

Although she was popular among the students during the ball back in her teaching days, Byleth is kind of a clumsy dancer as she’s never had any formal lessons. She also hasn’t danced since that night so any skills she had gained have since been lost. Dorothea doesn’t mind though and likes to try and teach Byleth how to dance (again).

Ingrid has always been a clumsy dancer and trips over her own feet and that of her partner’s.

Dorothea is always happy to teach them how but for a while it frequently leads to Byleth/Ingrid tripping over her own feet, Edelgard and Ingrid thinking too much and losing her sense of rhythm and flow, and sometimes losing their balance as well which can lead to landing on top of Dorothea or with Dorothea landing on top. Dorothea always finds this amusing and likes to tease Edelgard/Ingrid about having done it intentionally much to Edelgard/Ingrid’s insistence of otherwise.

COOKING

Petra has already told Dorothea her cooking is horrendous when they were students and since then Dorothea has done her best to improve when she’s had the chance, but it wasn’t often when the kitchen and food had to be used by all the students, faculty, and knights. It’s not until after they go to Brigid that Dorothea has more of an opportunity to learn how to cook under the tutelage of cooks in Brigid. She learns how to make Brigid dishes, never as well as professional cooks and never anything that would be considered as tasting “amazing” by most people, but Petra always appreciates Dorothea’s attempts and finds the eventual slightly off-attempts to be part of the charm.

Byleth would do her best to hide the fact that Dorothea’s cooking, at least in the beginning, is terrible. Prior to teaching at Garreg Mach she was known as the Ashen Demon, showing little to no emotions, so that comes in handy once she and Dorothea are together and she’s eating meals Dorothea’s made. Unfortunately for her, Dorothea has learned that when she isn’t showing emotion when eating it means the food tasted bad. She sighs whenever Byleth eats while expressionless and hasn’t said that the food was good. Byleth is no gourmet chef herself though and mostly only knows the basics, but she’s better at cooking than Dorothea and ends up making most of the meals for them both. She does, however, have Dorothea join her in the kitchen and teaches her things about preparing food here and there so they sometimes cook together. The meals are, more often than not, simple but they both enjoy them nonetheless.

Edelgard is much more expressive and grimaces at Dorothea’s first attempts at cooking. She tries not to sound harsh about it, but she does tell Dorothea it’s bad though suggests Dorothea use the kitchen to practice and get help from the cooks. Dorothea practices in her free time between writing an opera about Edelgard and reading/writing poetry. She slowly improves and Edelgard makes certain that Dorothea knows this. Meals are never extravagant, nothing that someone might ever think to serve a royal, when Dorothea cooks but Edelgard still likes it all the same.

Ingrid loves food, everyone knows that, but the first time she has Dorothea’s cooking it’s obvious that it’s not good when she doesn’t even finish her first serving. She tries to offer Dorothea tips, but she’s more of an eater than preparer herself as her focus has always been on training and being a knight first and foremost. Dorothea’s largely on her own with learning how to cook and only ever manages to pull off simple dishes, but she learns to make at least 2-3 servings when she does cook because Ingrid has a large appetite. It makes cooking tiring, but Dorothea does her best when she’s left to cook, which starts to be more often as she improves, but it never falls solely to her to do.

POETRY

It takes many years for Petra to become more fluent and comfortable with the Fodlan language so she doesn’t write many love poems to Dorothea, but she does buy books of it when she finds new ones for her. It’s not until much later that Petra tries to write a few, but she’s not confident with them and most likely had help from someone. It’s typically Dorothea that writes love poems.

Byleth reads love poems for a while, knowing that Dorothea likes them, trying to get a feel on how the author wrote them. She tries to mimic the styles and word choices, but it sounds rigid at first and doesn’t give them to Dorothea. However, Dorothea knows Byleth has been writing them from the crumpled and discarded sheets of paper and half-finished attempts she finds that haven’t always made it to a wastepaper bin whether it be because Byleth left them on her desk or she missed when she tossed the crumpled ball of paper. She keeps practicing which doesn’t go unnoticed by Dorothea, and eventually she’s able to respond to Dorothea’s love poems with her own.

Edelgard picks up on writing love poems more easily than the others, but is never confident with her writing skills when it comes to matters of the heart. Like Byleth, she too ends up with many discarded attempts before writing a poem that she feels is acceptable enough to give to Dorothea. She always loses confidence though as soon as the poem reaches Dorothea’s hands and becomes embarrassed by her own writing. Dorothea loves them though and refuses to let Edelgard throw them away.

Ingrid isn’t a poet at all, so Dorothea’s the only one who ever writes love poems. Not wanting to only ever be able to thank Dorothea with her words though, Ingrid does her best to find nice gifts for Dorothea in return (usually with the help from Mercedes) despite knowing and being told by Dorothea herself that they aren’t written with the expectation of receiving anything in exchange.

Louis de Pointe du Lac Headcanons

S F W:

- to start off, he's very, very into books, both old and new

- to kill a mockingbird? read it five times already. pride and prejudice? not exactly his tastes but he can appreciate the creativity. hamlet? one of his favorites!

- highkey a Shakespeare nerd

- one of his favorite pastimes with his S/O is to either read to them/have them read to him or to read together on a couch or in bed. he also likes discussing thoughts about what's he's read, usually trying to figure out what's next but never spoiling it for himself

- he prefers books over tv, mainly because nothing is on that's interesting. all of it is trashy to him, but if you DO manage to convince him to sit down with him he'll most likely choose a documentary. louis likes to get more information and enjoys learning, even if he's already heard about it before

- he likes music a lot as well, and doesn't hesitate to look up a specific lyric when he's not sure what the song Ism or hum a tune from something that he finds compelling

- he personally likes the classics like Fibonacci and Beethoven, but he tries to be more open to his music tastes since a lot of classical music doesn't surface anymore. his current favorites from new generations are Chet Baker and a few of Mac DeMarco’s songs he likes the chill beat, it's PERFECT for slow dancing

- if you're interested in horror movies or movies about “monsters” (vampires, werewolves, etc.) he will happily point out what's wrong about the way the vampire scenes are presented. he particularly likes to see when you ask him questions that he would think are foolish, but most other stuff a fact. it's interesting how people formulate theories that would sound rediculous if not about something they hadn't even seen

- he enjoys art in pretty much all form, conventional or not

- while louis is mostly old fashioned he likes modern art the most like graffiti and such

- contrary to popular belief, he actually supports a lot of new concepts. when he was younger things such as being gay or preferring to dress a certain way were considered shameful and against everything a person had been taught, so he like some to see people live freely in their short existence. has definitely gone to a protest on MORE than one occasion for LGBTQ+ rights

- to him discrimination is foolish considering people don't live very long anyway, so I headcanon him as being exploring/queer. not because he's a vampire but just because he's attracted to a person’s stregnth and personality. but a lot of what he was taught and what he was raised in makes him hesitant

- he wouldn't have more than one lover at once, mainly because he feels like he wouldn't be able to A) handle more than one person and B) would get either jealous or aggravated with another person. he doesn't mind open relationships, just doesn't prefer them if he's in a committed relationship

- he's very good at hiding his feelings, but there'll be times where you catch him staring for too long at something in deep though or see that he's not as talkative as he normally would be

- after Claudia and the woman he gave counseling to in his early years, he seemed hesitant to feel something, anything towards someone. a part of him doesn't want to get hurt, but the other thinks he's not worthy

- louis is well aware of what he is, and although he recognizes it was his choice, he finds himself wanting to be more alive in a way. he feels your warm skin brush against his in the dark of the night, your breath on his neck he wished he could return. but he knows he can't, and he can feel a part of himself retract away from you when you're that close to him. it doesn't feel right, but he knows it feels too empty without you

- if you ever confront him about it he'll end up getting silent and just telling you not to worry. he has a lot of trouble being open since Lestat constantly jabbed at him for being so vulnerable

- once he does tell you though, you absentmindedly suggest becoming a vampire

- when you first ask him this he automatically tells you that he will never allow that to happen. he knows firsthand that it's not all glamor once you become one, and the harsh reality is that it deteriorates you to the equivalent to an animal without a heartbeat who sucks the life from others. he couldn't let that happen to you, or at least if he thought about I think he wouldn't want to do it himself

- but after a while he realizes that there is no one better than himself to do it that he knows of, so if you're very very sure then he may consider it

- what he doesn't want is for you to make the decision just for him. think about this. how would it affect your life? do you really want to watch everyone you love die, damned to live on forever between an endless cycle of merely witnessing death but never embracing it? do you want to sacrifice your life for him?

- he'll try to be the best teacher that he can since Lestat was not at all good to him

- through thick and thin he knows that you'll realize that you still are lovers, and since eternity has been destined for the both of you he still is protective over you

- if you choose not to, he's only a bit hurt but not enough to be noticeable. he understands, he honestly doesn't want to loose the you he knows. he's afraid of corrupting you, turning you into a killing machine

- on a brighter note, he's very very protective you you

- it's almost like an animal weirdly enough. if he senses other vampires around he grows stiff, and feels the need to be close to you almost immediately. if feeling provoked by said vampire with you as the source of conflict, he usually tries to remove you both from the situation

- he doesn't want you to have to witness the more gorey details of his existence, so he typically doesn't drink blood in front of you or come home with bloodstained clothes. to him it's a sign of respect, and he doesn't want to seem as if he's filthy like a street dog covered in dirt. he may not be human but that doesn't mean he can act like a rat

- the one time you did see him with blood on his clothing was after a particularly long period of time where he couldn't feed and so when he finally got the chance he didn't hesitate to get as much as he could. upon you seeing him he felt shame, and refused to look you in the eye for a week. you had to tell him that you didn't think less of him just because of his requirements

- he needs a lot of reassurance

How I feel about this character:

I really like Kaminari! He’s a huge goofball but he also really cares about his friends. And while he may not have the highest grades in the class, he seems to be really good at reading people!

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I don’t think he’s quite as dumb as some parts of the fandom can portray him as though I think his classmates do over exaggerate it themselves similar to how fandom does

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

Mostly I just hope we get him in more serious situations as the story continues? The only time we’ve seen him really get serious was during the license exam. And I just think it’d be nice to see him under a more serious kind of pressure now that he has better means of controlling his quirk.

Like, saying what she did in the hospital took a lot guts! And then telling the rescue group how much knowing they went through with it hurt her… She’s a brave girl who stands up for what she believes in. She’s got a good head on her shoulders for sure!

Habuko/Tsuyu, Tsuchako… It occcurs to me that I must headcanon her as wlw because I can’t really imagine her with any of the dudes.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Idk I think it reads really weird when people write her as saying “kero” or “ribbit” every single sentence. Like, she does say it often enough but not like every sentence. I’m not sure outside of that what an unpopular opinion would even be for her.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I’d like to see her struggles a little more? She’s been a part of a couple of arcs but it’s mostly just with her just kinda being there. We don’t see her struggling like Ochako does following Overhaul. The most struggle we got was the hospital and follow up scene. It would be nice to expand on that for her character I think. Give us a better grasp on her by knowing how she goes through something hard.

Maybe also show us something with her family too!

I can’t really think of one, but I think that’s just cause I only have the two ships and I feel weird pushing that into an OT3 when Habuko and Ochako don’t know each other lol

How I feel about this character:

Jirou’s kind of a nice change from a lot of the other girls in Class A. The rest are pretty bubbly or upbeat while Jirou’s kind of lowkey and sarcastic? She’s a good change of pace while also being really nice to bounce said characters off of. I also like seeing her love of music. And the fact that while it’s something she really does love she’s not really looking to make a career out of it? Because sometimes you want your hobbies and job separate so that’s cool to see too.

Oh gosh okay um Momojirou, Kamijirou, KoudaJirou and Minajirou. These are all good and I will stand by it lol

Idk if this is unpopular but I don’t think she’s very uppity about music taste? I think Jirou’s really open to a wide variety of music but she tends to enjoy rock the most. It’s part of why she’s learned to play so many instruments, I think!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

Give me a moment where she gets to be at the core of something heroic. We almost got a glimpse of that in the USJ attack. But then she was unconscious for the training camp, she wasn’t part of Overhaul… She did get focus in the cultural festival but that was about the music, more than any like hero mission or anything…

I’m sorry I know a lot of these OTPs sound like jokes but it’s mostly because there isn’t like one of the romantic ships that super outweighs the others for me.

How I feel about this character:

Shigaraki is a poor bastard that I love to hate. He’s a really complex character as we’ve been shown since the villain arc. His backstory is absolutely tragic. And Hori keeps painting for us these parallels to Deku but ultimately they function more as foils. Putting them in similar situations only to highlight the difference the two characters have with one another.

I can’t wait to see what else Hori has in story regarding him!

Hmmm, I’m not really sure I have a ship for him really? I think it’s mostly just that I haven’t considered it, so I don’t really have any thoughts regarding that.

His whole relationship to the League is...actually really sweet? It’s nice that they’ve all found this little home and camaraderie with one another.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I don’t really think he’s all that bad? Like I know there’s a lot that don’t think he’s very interesting or what have you, but I really find his character fascinating and I can’t wait to see how much more he grows outside of AfO’s influence.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I really like the idea of some of his memories being faked by AfO or else that AfO is the one that gave him his quirk in the first place. It just makes the most sense to me considering how his quirk started out so strong right at the beginning when all the other quirks we’ve seen don’t start off immediately strong unless they’re a quirk with a stockpile effect (e.g. OfA and Eri’s Rewind).

Yuri on Ice Re-Watch and Live Commentary, Episode 12: Final Skate: Gotta Super-Super-Supercharge It!!! Grand Prix Final Free Skate

It.  Is.  FINISHED.

You know that feeling when a fan-nish project is projected to take only a few weeks, during the Summer, mind you, but ends up spanning, oh, about three months?  I do, now.

I mean, it's more than a little crazy that he thought this is something Victor would be relieved to here.  It's as if they have been existing on different planes of reality.

Listen. Victor has shed tears a grand total of two times in 12 episodes and both incidents involved Yuri.  Yet Yuri still doesn't think he’s important enough to merit more of his Victor’s time away from skating.  Just.  YURI. AUGH!!!

The actor's decision to read this line as if Yuri's revelation has not stabbed Victor in the heart is masterful.  There's only so much pretending the man is capable of.

This is hella relatable as someone who also doesn't want to be touched when I'm upset by THE VERY PERSON WHO UPSET ME.  Give him a minute to process this, Yuri.

This is just a horrible, horrible cap.  Vitya is thoroughly in kicked-puppy-mode.

Um, did you ignore absolutely everything else that occurred afterwards?  Including when he straight-up said to your face that he wishes you'd never retire?

Don't fire him, Yuri!

Yuri was really out there listenin' to friends instead of Victor.  How many times did Victor ignore the others' entreaties to return to competition to remain his coach?  Don't join that Greek chorus. Yuri.      

I beg to differ.  He's always concerned about your well-being, which is why you gave him an expensive-ass symbol of devotion and put it on his ring finger.  Good God, boy.

This inspiration thing goes both ways, Yuri.  LISTEN TO VICTOR.  He is telling you what HE wants In This Moment.  Not what YOU think is best for HIM.

So, sports reporter Marooka remarks about how Yuri hasn't been seen practicing in public since the day after the short program, which has worried his fans (see, Yuri, you have FANS.) ��You mean to tell me Yuri and Victor have been at odds with each other for two whole days now?!?!

Cartoon!Lambiel picks up on Yuri and Victor's uncharacteristically low energy.

You don't say, Stephane.

Also: Victor knows Stephane, personally.  What a celeb.

At least flag guy has re-energized himself since JJ's short program.

Aww! The parents in this show are the best cheerleaders.  If only there was time during the season to meet all of them.  I'd def like to see Phichit's parents.

So, JJ's dad is reminiscing on some of his son's past coaches.  Celestino, then played by Peg Bundy, was one of them.

Also…. I'm really curious as to what JJ needed to say yes to.

I don't know much about scoring in figure skating but this seems a mite high for a program that was mostly jumps.

Phichit's ice-show dreams are as adorable as he is.  Christophe with a hamster cap is utterly, utterly charming.  I would fork over cold, hard blood plasma donation cash to see this in person.

It shouldn't be like this between them; especially not when Yuri plans to end his competitive career, here.

And really, why is Yuri so upset with Victor?  I suspect Yuri's selfishness runs deeper than either of them realize. IMO, he's afraid Victor might come to resent him if he retires from skating to coach him, then regrets it.

But honestly, Yuri should know Victor better than that by now.

Despite everything, Victor is still trying to be the coach Yuri needs.

But… Yuri doesn't want Victor to play coach right now.

So tickle his fancy, Victor.

Um…

Victor has an interesting sense of humor.

Also, he did win the one against the teenagers at the local comp.  Though I have no idea if a qualifier is considered part of the Senior circuit.

Yeah, katsudon's not the only way to celebrate, Yuri.  Victor wants to really give you something worth winning for.

I really love how they've cut Yuri's long program with clips of Victor from Yuri's memory.  It's a visual culmination of a journey.

Ahh, that's what he meant about making up his mind about his goal.  And that's why he wanted Victor to stop playing at being coach.  Because he wasn't going to listen to him, anyway.  You know, the usual.

Yuri's internal dialogue during his routine reveals his desire to stay in figure skating with Victor forever and his fear of killing Victor's career if he remains Yuri's coach.  Victor… have you not shared with the man how competition was already slowly killing you? Might wanna do that sometime in the very, very near future.

Yuri… just loves Victor.  He can't always articulate how much, but he can show it.  His program is one big tribute to Victor and Yuri's desire to prove everyone how much Victor means to him as a coach and an inspiration.

And Victor gets the message loud and clear.

Mari+Minako are, yet again, Me.

Something I should've wondered by now is how half-blind Yuri can tell where Victor is standing.

The monkey-on-his-back that is Anxiety.

Seriously, you performed to the absolute best of your ability, Yuri.  Relax.  Relate. Release.  

Wowsa, dude.

Sooooo, Victor has just congratulated Yuri on his record-breaking performance and implies that he might come back to competition in the same breath he confesses his pride in both his pupils.  The possibility of Victor's return delights Yuri to no-end but gives me pause.  A lot of pause.

Victor. My dude.  Are you just trying not to ruin the mood?  Because quite honestly, one of the very valuable lessons you should've learned on this journey is that a little selfishness can be a good thing.  I know you want to make a grand gesture after Yuri's grand gesture but YOU CAN'T BOTH KEEP MAKING GRAND GESTURES.  You'll hurt yourselves trying to show the world your love.  

Moving on... Chris is on the ice, having serious thoughts about how Yuri, who was rumored to retire after the GPF, beat his personal best.  He laments that it won't be as easy for him to win gold as he first thought.

Then he witnesses the happy couple doing their thing.

And gets distracted.  

This is in regards to Victor.  Chris is rethinking his initial calculation of GPF - Victor = gold for him.

Aww, Chris is Phichit's buddy.  Why am I not surprised?

This scene is after Chris decides to change an earlier jump composition to the second half of his program.  Can't say he's not a fighter.

Really? That's it?!  By my estimation, that program was better than JJ's.  What am I missing?

Boo, this is the last time I'll see my babe, Leo.

But I concur.  Go, Otabek! I'm fond of his music choices, skating, and his costumes.  

So, Victor finds Yakov to tell him he wants to return to competition.  I mean, it couldn’t have waited until after Yurio’s skate, V?

Once upon a time, news of Victor's return may have pleased Yurio.  Now, his first concern is Yuri.  

And Victor is Not.  Happy. About this.  He’s about to cry here, tbqh.

Annnnd he requires immediate comfort.  This is sad. More than sad, when I consider Victor is letting Yuri call the shots, here.  Competing again should be Victor's own decision, as well.

Yeah, that's good advice to pass along, Victor.

I've been debating as to whether or not I should parse out the intricacies of Victor's isolation.  Honestly, I think the writers did a well-enough job of it.  I suppose I still wonder, as many others have, about his family.

I'll go out on a limb and assume he has or had people in his life that taught him to love like he does and to treat other people kindly.  One doesn't learn those sorts of things in a vacuum.  However, I headcanon Victor as having been scouted and, once recruited, moved closer to a training facility, a la these athletes.

So, isolated?  Yes. Friend-less and family-less?  I doubt it, or at least it wasn't always that way.

Meanwhile, Yuri's looking for his man.  Perhaps to tell him that he's already changed his mind about retiring?  In that case, please, look harder Yuri!

Just needed to slide in this cap of Mila getting sprung by Otabek's skating.  Good taste, Mila.

I don't know who JJ has in his pocket on the judging panel, but Otabek just completed a perfect program AND he was ahead of JJ after the short program.  Logic would dictate he'd be ahead of JJ now. But, do as you will, YOI.

This is in regards to Yuri.  In flashbacks during Yurio's routine, we discover that he was actually impressed with Yuri's prior GPF free skate, despite the errors.  It was only after he found Yuri crying in the bathroom stall that he lost respect for him.  Must be Yurio's special brand of encouragement: "Stop crying, get better, or get out of the game!"  Yeah. That must be it.

Anyway, now Yurio has changed his tune and doesn't want Yuri to retire, at all. Cute.

Lilia is so proud of her angry, pseudo- son.

 Yurio completes his most difficult program ever with only one fall.  During his skate, it's revealed that part of his motivation was to become a new goal for Yuri to surpass.  That's nice and all, but not at the expense of your own health, Yurio.

I don't think Yuri would want that for him, either.

Yurio defeats Yuri by a sliver of a margin.  I will admit to initially being surprised by the result before considering (and re-considering, after this re-watch) a few things:

Yurio won because it's entirely possible he may not win again for at least a little while.

His lack of stamina is well-documented, he's in the Senior circuit with grown men who can, and have, beat him already, and he's yet to hit a growth spurt. If the series continues into a second season, then I foresee the writers exploring these very realistic scenarios for Yurio.

This is partially why I don't predict Yurio achieving what Victor has, at least not right away.  There's not enough drama in that narrative to fill up an entire season, IMO.

Or, at the very least, they'll use Yurio to address the conflict over becoming as isolated as Victor has during his struggle to maintain dominance in the sport.

Yurio won because the name of the show is 'Yuri on Ice’.

Also, if the writers decide to have Yuri eventually retire (because he is of that age), then they don't even have to change the show’s title.  How convenient.

Last, and what I think is obviously implied in this episode: Yurio won so that Yuri would change his mind about retiring.

However… Yuri had already changed his mind.  And his biggest motivator in that decision was still Victor, so… kinda wish they hadn't made Yurio go out and suffer like that for no good reason. Honestly, there's little chance of him repeating this performance.

Anyway….

Awww! Yay!

So, Victor's in a teasing mood after Yuri presents him with his well-earned silver medal. Victor insists that he only wants to kiss gold.  So, what do you have that would be a suitable substitute, Yuri?

Eff that medal Yuri just unceremoniously dropped to the ground in preference to hopping in Victor's lap.  Coach me for another year, Victor!

What a lovely step forward for our boy, Yuri.  He didn't win gold but, all joking aside, Victor doesn't care.  Yuri’s next gold medal will be a token to Victor, instead of unnecessary proof that he was worth Victor’s time, all along.

Besides, I think he’s already given Victor the only golden item he truly wants.

But, I mean, only if you WANT to, Victor.  Are you afraid Yuri will change his mind if you change yours?  I hope that's not the case.

 Apparently, this is the only payment Victor will accept for coaching Yuri. Ok, so you're going to compete and hopefully earn some sponsorship money to pay your own bills all while coaching someone else for free?  Do we need to have a 'Victor on Ice,' a show about Victor re-learning the value of doing one thing at a time?
