also, the plot of cinderella III is that lady tremaine uses the fairy godmothers wand to go back in time and make it so anastasias foot fits the glass slipper

and then she changes the princes memory so that he thinks he danced with anastasia instead of cinderella

🗺️ Map — who leads the way when navigating, and who's more likely to get lost?

YES NAMS AND VEN. LETS GO. Okay. They're both terrible with navigating but in different directions. Ventus can NOT read a map AND lead the way at the same time, he's going to get them both lost... but that's not going to stop him from taking the lead. Meanwhile I think Namine would be better at reading the map and figuring out where to go, but she's not going to take charge especially since Ventus is such a loud personality. Namine would just assume that Ventus has *got this*, that he knows the way, and it's not until they've been walking in circles for an hour that she's like. "Hmm. Maybe he's not good at this." I do think that she'd be a little scared about making mistakes and second guess her directions! It's just a classic mesh of "cheerful person too confident in their own abilities" and "anxious person who actually knows what to do but isn't sure *how* to do it". I love the possible dynamics for Namine and Ventus, cause i think Namine might be worried about Ventus judging her for things she doesn't know... only to realize that despite his confidence, he's REALLY naive and also incredibly chill if she makes a mistake. I want to see her get more comfortable around him :]

Saw your drawings for Pridelands!Kairi. Love them. I was wondering what Namine's role would be in your Kairi Protag AU. Will she be an ally of Kairi? Take up Roxas's or Xion's role?

Hi! Thank you for your patience concerning this ask!

I’m still thinking on this but I really like the idea that Namine’s role would remain relatively unchanged. I think if Kairi were to encounter her in Castle Oblivion, then perhaps she begins to believe that Namine was someone she knew in Radiant Garden and so she wants to rescue her because in doing so she reclaims some memories of her childhood there. So then, perhaps as with Sora losing his memories of Kairi, Kairi begins to lose her memories of Riku and Sora and her time at Destiny Islands in favor of memories of Radiant Garden. I think there could be a real great temptation there if she believes that Namine was a central figure in her childhood at Radiant Garden (and shout out to @pedanticat for suggesting in a past conversation that Kairi could believe Namine is a long lost sister because that’s a really cool and dramatic idea!)

I’m still working it out but the idea that memories are never really lost that Namine was talking about in COM could be interesting to explore in relation to Kairi. Kairi reconnecting with her past is definitely a major interest for me in this AU, and I think Namine would play into it. I’m currently replaying the games (albeit very slowly haha) and I hope as I play through and continue sketching things out for the AU that these plot points and details will become more concrete!

Of course, I’m always open to hearing other’s ideas :)! Thanks for the question!!
