Hit me with your favorite 5Ds headcanons 👀

Okay so I’ve used/alluded to some of these in my fics already, but that’s just because I love them that much (also it was really hard deciding which are my favourite headcanons):

Crow swears the most out of the boys, but has an almost supernatural ability to completely shut his swearing off the second children are around (unless he’s really flustered)

Though I’ve kinda hinted at something like it before, Jack isn’t actually the worst cook at the Poppo Time. Bruno is. Because Jack knows what good food is supposed to taste like (having been a star duellist for a while and all) and can reasonably guess how to approximate those flavours—he just doesn’t cook because he doesn’t have the patience to learn any technique whatsoever (or clean up after himself when he’s done). Meanwhile, Bruno just can’t cook. Straight up. It’s not a matter of wanting or not wanting to, if you try tasking this man with anything more difficult than preparing cup ramen he will burn something. Guaranteed.

Bruno and Yusei don’t have the same mechanical skillset. Bruno is almost 100% specialised only to runners, and at that, he’s slightly better than Yusei. But Yusei’s advantage is that he knows how to fix almost everything else (provided it’s mechanical and/or electronic), too.

All three of the Satellite boys actually know how to sew a bit. Martha taught them how to mend their own clothes. The quality of their seams varies (Crow’s are the neatest because he got a lot of practice from mending his kids’ stuff, too), but they all know how to sew tears shut and mend holes.

Aki isn’t as good a gardener as one would believe with her plant theme. She likes gardening a great deal, but doesn’t have a lot of experience outside of house plants. So she could decently keep a garden alive, but would never be able to maintain something like, say, a bonsai collection or a bed of prize roses, despite her love for the activity.

I’ve written a whole post about this already, but I still adore it, so: Satellite natives, post reunion with the city, are the bane of brand phone store workers’ existence. They want everything fixed, not replaced, and trying to explain to them why that would be too complicated (whether contrived or not) usually results in them not paying a single cent and going something like “oh, forget it, I’ll just give it to the neighbour’s boy, he’ll take care of this”. This includes Yusei, who usually just ends up fixing his own stuff, and especially Crow, who has already nearly gotten in a fistfight with some tech company’s store manager upon hearing the supposed price of a repair/replacement on more than one occasion before. (He obviously just ends up handing his stuff over to Yusei, too, in the end.)

Maybe my favourite headcanon: As TCG fans know, the manga versions of the signer dragons were printed as the duel dragons. In-universe, I imagine the duel dragons were also printed—as commercial, publicly available retrains of the signer dragons, who are supposed to be one of a kind in canon. (I also use this headcanon to justify why the signers have support cards tailored specifically to their dragons—they were printed to go with the duel dragons in-universe, but allow usage with the original signer dragons as well.)

Rua/Leo isn’t actually that bad at school. He’s just not very disciplined when it comes to studying because he’d rather keep polishing up his deck.

Ruka/Luna owns several duel monsters plushies. Her favourite is, of course, her Kuribon plushie.

Carly is really good at clocking people’s vibes and figuring out their character quickly. The caveat is that this only works when she meets them face to face.

style, from the aro buck 911 fic, "never been in love"

It’s a basic information page, kind of a 101-style set of definitions from a website about different orientations. The top of the page informs the reader that it is explaining to them what ‘aromantic’ means. Buck swallows hard and scrolls a little, taking in a few words at a time. It’s a little difficult to process, because his vision seems to be fuzzing a little, static building in his ears and his heart pounding in his chest.

She raises an eyebrow at him, and she shifts in a moment from paging through the paper while sipping her tea and meandering around the table – more fidgety in her down time than just about anyone else Roy has ever known – and then all of her attention is focused on him. It’s amazing how she does that - it’s like in a single moment Roy’s sister switches off and Dr. Kent switches on.

14 Bloomingtide, 9:32 Dragon

The location of my clinic got leaked yesterday. It had been so long since their last raid that we were all caught unprepared. This cannot happen again. I must remain vigilant and start keeping all supplies in crates so they can quickly be transported away. I will need new beds, too.

I had to evacuate the patients as fast as possible, lest they be charged as accomplices to my apostasy or caught in the crossfire of the ensuing battle — as much as Justice hungers for such a fight, we both knew this wasn’t the time to strike a blow against our enemies. So it had to be another place, another string of favors from fellow Darktown residents, another escape. I seem to have resigned myself to a life of escapes.

I knew Hawke to be a powerful mage and good to have by our side during a fight. Though I did not let myself hope that he cared, I still sent for him. How wrong I was to think of him as indifferent. Mere minutes later he rushed in with that boulder of a war dog he calls Creampuff and asked what he could do to save my hide.

Not once did he complain. Even after hours of dragging supplies through the tunnels and carrying those too sick to walk to the new location, he only mumbled “This is certainly a way to build muscle” and kept going. Creampuff had been sent ahead to sniff out potential dangers, just like back then in the Deep Roads. Danger found us in the form of the very templars I was running from.

Finally, after we defeated them with a thunderstorm of Orev’s own making, he collapsed against a wall and asked for just a moment of rest, nothing more. If I were a weaker man, I would have kissed him then and there; beautiful as he was, brushing strands of hair out of his face with magic still crackling along his fingertips. He looked at me with a sly grin when he opened his eyes again. Almost as if he had heard my thoughts. I hope I didn’t say anything out loud.

I should stop, I sound like an idiot. But I have to say, one good thing came of this. It reminded me that there is kindness to be found in this world, and it came in the form of this ridiculous man who then winked at me and asked if his spell looked “as cool as he hoped”.

Reminder: Think of a way to thank Orev.

16: How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

i would say i have 3 right now, 2 of which are still just in the ideas phase and may never see the light of day

the third is something im working on right now but im a little nervous to share too much about it because i dont want to create too much pressure for myself so here are 3 little hints

during if things are going well, after if im struggling a little. all of my titles so far are either a concept that i came across while researching (and i really like when this happens) or a fitting lyric from music that i was listening to while writing because i feel like thats just such a classic method

65: Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

again i get nervous sharing specifics before publishing but i actually stopped writing earlier today just before two characters were about to interact so im looking forward to picking up again at that point. i really like writing dialogue because i like the feeling of "channeling" it or like "listening" to it and writing it down

horror franchise knockout 🥊💥: results!

this is it! after 9 bloody, brutal rounds, we have our one lone survivor. it was a close fight between a formidable pairing - saw, a 19 year, nine movie franchise with a film coming out in october, and evil dead, a 42 year, four film and 3 season franchise with a film coming out in april! saw almost got eliminated in about half the rounds of the poll, but fought tooth and nail to make it to the finals. evil dead won the least votes every single round, skating all the way through to the last faceoff. in the end, only one can win this knockout game.

the winner of the horror franchise knockout tournament is….

evil dead!

the final matchup was pretty tight, especially given the total sweep evil dead had the entire game, with 53.3% of the votes for saw, and 46.7% of the votes for evil dead. thanks everyone for playing along, congrats to ash williams for being the least hated franchise babygirl on tumblr!

i wanted to look at what proportion of votes the eliminated franchises got relative to how many options there were, so that we could compare each round equivalently despite the differing numbers of options. these numbers are essentially the percent of votes divided by (1/number of films in the round), both as a whole number (so times 100).

based on that, the order from most severe sweep to closest-to-even result was:

- final destination (2.21)

- friday the 13th (2.20)

- child’s play (2.03)

- texas chainsaw massacre (1.90)

- nightmare on elm street (1.65)

- psycho (1.50)

- halloween (1.48)

- scream (1.13)

- saw (1.07)

- evil dead (.93)

and the result of the bonus round, from worst/least liked to best/favorite:

- psycho (3.4%)

- friday the 13th and texas chainsaw massacre (4.3%)

- halloween and nightmare on elm street (4.6%)

- final destination (6.1%)

- child's play (7.2%)

- scream (19.8%)

- evil dead (22.2%)

- saw (23.5%)

theres some pretty interesting differences between these orders! the final three in the knockout game (relatively close last two rounds) were also the most liked franchises by a landslide in the bonus round, (though saw managed to eek out the win there!) and the closest results by proportional numbers. but, the first two eliminated franchises (final destination and evil dead) fared better than the rest when i asked people to vote for what the liked most. of course, the fun of the game was seeing how the choices left impacted the votes, so the independent bonus round isnt the same at all, but its fun to look at

garak and bashirs parenting styles are reversed for grandparenting. julian's a total sap for his grandkids, taking them on trips and buying them elaborate educational toys. garak is the reserved victorian grandfather smoking a pipe in the study talking about The Old Days and ordering them around (especially in the garden, his knees aren't what they used to be.)

Bashir is still annoyed at the passage of time seeing fit to give his children (who, in his mind, are still kids) children of their own. Rude!

This is a bad idea.

Chuuya knows this is a bad idea. But their common sense is clouded by alcohol and Ranpo was staring them down with those stupid green eyes, like he was trying to undress them from across the room, and fuck.

Chuuya groans as he bites down on their lip. They have him pinned against the wall, but that hasn’t stopped Ranpo from acting like he still has the upper hand. Like this is exactly what he wanted.

Chuuya knows they’ve played directly into his trap, but it feels too good to stop now.

“You are so goddamn annoying,” they grumble between kisses, voice nothing more than a harsh whisper against Ranpo’s smiling lips. “I hate you.”

“Mhm,” Ranpo hums. “That must be why you want me so bad right now.”

“Shut the hell up.”

“Make me.”

And oh, that is a challenge Chuuya most certainly will not back down from.

“Chuuya…” Dazai murmurs, tightening their grip on his hair. They don’t pull him back, though, so Chuuya continues carefully unwinding the bandages wrapped around their thigh.

“Is there something you want?”

Dazai whines.

“Sorry,” Chuuya smiles, “I can’t understand you if you won’t use your words.”

“Chuuya!”

Chuuya laughs. Having finished with the bandages, he tosses them aside. Then, he presses his lips to Dazai’s hip bone. Too soft to fully satiate them but enough to soothe them for the moment. “Be patient,” he instructs. “It’s not my fault you feel the need to mummify yourself.”

“Chuuya’s being so mean!”

Chuuya kisses them again through a teasing grin. “I think you like it, though.”

Dazai doesn’t argue. When Chuuya glances up, he finds their face is flushed all the way to the tips of their ears.

They’ve only just started, but he’s having so much fun already.
