Thank you, anon! Today I answered work emails and made cookies for our office holiday party, and---deliberately did not think, even a little bit, about how I've been posting on this blog since November 2011 or how that's almost 40% of my life right there.

The good news is that it is okay to struggle a little bit. With law school, definitely! But also just with being human. It's a complicated proposition, to be in the world.

Fortunately, sometimes there are cookies.

[I find it interesting how in basically all of his birthday letters, he mentions food/cooking... his love language is so cooking for you. He WILL learn and memorize the recipes of your comfort foods and make them whenever you want. Some people do kinda suck but I find a lot of joy in giving people really specifics compliments at my job and it makes their whole day sometimes c: 💛

#I had a very enthusiastic conversation about a lady’s hair and the way it was cut #she cut it herself!#I often like to tell some women that their purse is very nice and they’re usually very proud of their purses I’ve found #I will tell some people sometimes that the color of their shirt is so fitting for their skin tone and was a great choice that day #I expressed once to a customer that I loved the prints of his shirts and he came by one day in this one particular shirt #hoping I’d be there apparently because he wanted me to see the shirt because I love his style!#it’s so nice #I had a lady blushing once from head to toe because I said she looks like the perfect example of a woman #that face every artist draws for that reference #she was so beautiful #haha I like compliments on men’s facial hair too!#they’re proud of their facial hair a lot of the time #even soemthing as simple as they look amazing for their age which I’ve said many many times #like I said some people suck and I have yet to truly meet the bad eggs but man I just really like seeing them light up #when you compliment the littlest things they put hardly any effort into and think maybe nobody will even notice #I like pointing out those things

Going insane over the way AFO lifts the sword out of his shoulder because it’s so. He doesn’t even use his hand, his palm, to grab it. He uses the back of his hand to lift it up and away

For someone like AFO who we know has a Big Thing with his hands - not just with his quirk but the way he uses them, the way he Offers and gestures, the way they trap and cover - seeing him not even care to properly lift the sword but, instead, lift it with the back of his hand; it’s so clear the attack is nothing to him. The object is nothing to him. By extension, Hawks’ efforts are nothing to him

And the thing is like. This is such a specific gesture. It means so much body language-wise for a character like AFO, but ESPECIALLY because it was drawn by Horikoshi, who has said that “hands are the body part most capable of showing expression and character”

Personally I would have been talking about stuff like this anyway but what gives it more weight and appeal for me is that I know Hori likes drawing hands. That means he puts a lot of care into how hands are drawn. So the fact that I can look at this panel and know that this gesture was drawn with care for how and why the character would do it, that it FITS the character so well, is just really good
